I haven’t watched either of the show btw so if it’s explained in the show please tell me plsssss

OK, SO the bug thing is not technically canon to the series. It's based on my own headcanons for fairy biology, but i do have justifications for it!! Fairies have very strong shape-shifting abilities, so it would make sense that the form they show to humans isn't necessarily their true form(not to mention extreme that mimicry is very common in insects). And you want to know the visible traits almost every fairy has in common? Being very small with Insect-like wings.

The fact that their humanoid form isn't their true form in actually confirmed in the show! Cosmo and Wanda are revealed to look like biblically accurate pseudo-angels in the museum episode. (I say pseudo angels because the Flaming Sword of Eden is only debatably sentient and I don't think is considered an angel. Ophanim are also debatably not angels because they don't have wings (sorry for the angel tangent I like angels))

So wouldn't their true forms be angelic then? Well, yes. But I like bugs so. Also I have more headcanons to justify myself. I like to think that they have both a true-true form (incomprehensible to the human brain, probably exists mostly in a dimension invisible to us, that looks how we imagine biblically accurate angels), and a fairy form (which is visible to humans but is naturally very insect like and tends to scare people). So, in order to interact with humans, they have to learn to shapeshift into a humanoid form but will occasionally slip if they get too relaxed/aren't careful, hence the mandibles coming out when he yawns!

The reason they struggle so much more with human forms than the animals or objects they typically turn into is that, well, they aren't trying to convince those animals or objects. The more human they try to look, the harder it is to keep up convincingly. If you turn into a really uncanny squirrel, only other squirrels will notice. If you turn into a really uncanny human, they form a lynch mob and burn you at the stake.

I did try to keep in line with most of her official look though! Or add more emphasis to little details, like the red berries... other details I added, like the bloomers, keep the roundness of her og dress! BUT ALSO.... they are just so cutes.... I imagine they're made of rose petals...... I was also thinking angelic motifs. With the dress shape, and the smaller wings shaped as such!

Gothmog, Thuringwethil, and bonus Tevildo

i was digging around in my files and rediscovered some really old silm art of mine, including my original angband trio designs (mostly traced off heroforge models lol):

and they're actually pretty cool! thuringwethil's tail is maybe a little questionable of a design choice (how are you supposed to fly with a giant tail flopping around...) but it looks really good on gothmog.

i don't really remember what i was doing with sauron (he looks a little like early curufin for unknown reasons) and idk what the wrist things are supposed to be, but Original Flavor Thuringwethil was actually a corrupted maia of manwe (eonwe's sister?), hence the feathers instead of traditional bat wings. for Original Gothmog i am less sure about his origins but he is possibly a corrupted maia of ulmo (originally a sea serpent, hence the tail and ulmo style ear-fins) who basically dried up into a more stone-based serpent

anyways i think I might keep thuringwethil's face/wing design and gothmogs full design for future use

#my Florida shirt just got taken down from Etsy for no fucking reason #Taylor's team just CHUCKED the book at me and fucking LIED in their report to Etsy about it #said I infringed on their trademarks for Lover 1989 and Reputation in their report #and I used.... NONE OF THOSE THINGS. NOT ONE.#that shirt has (obviously) nothing to do with any of those albums even #not in the metadata not in the tags not in the SEO nothing #and since it had no tags of those things it didn't pop up in a sweep and get auto-taken down. it was targeted by them & they manually did i #that design is SO by the book legally and bc of how successful it is I've worked VERY hard to make it that way. even in the SEO #and I mean everything in my shop I go out of my way to make legal but #like that is probably the most actually black and white legal piece of fan merch I've ever seen in my fucking life #but I can't fight back because if I fight back.. if they want it down the next option is prove to Etsy that they're SUING ME #so like. yeah not trying to fuck around and find out there #and that is awful for multiple reasons.#1. I have lost like 90% of my income for the rest of the year. i think that sonic would be an earth pony because hes just some guy who's really powerful for no reason and knuckles and amy are also earth ponies. and silver would be a unicorn and rouge would be a bat pony like fluttershy in that one episode. and blaze would be either a unicorn or an alicorn depending on which mlp generations rules we are following. this is what i believe

#hi ive been watching a lot of mlp lately sorry. so im gonna assign sonic characters #mlp species completely unprompted because i can #im not sure about tails tbh #with tails the problem is that like. ok he can fly so youd think he should be a pegasus right #but he can onyl fly because he has two tails and the fact that he has two tails and flies with them is considered weird #so i feel like him just being a pegasus who is supposed to be able to fly would be. not very fitting #but idk what a good alternative would be #i cant decide with shadow either part of me thinks he should be an alicorn because ultimate lifeform #but i also kind of think he should just be a really powerful unicorn. if he was an alicorn though #he would be an alicorn regardless of what generations rules we are following because hes a weird little freak #also charmy would be a flutter pony in g1 and a breezie in the other gens because hes a bee #and cream isnt a bug but she can fly and gives me flutter pony vibes so she'd be a flutter pony in g1 too #she would just be a pegasus in other generations though #ok thats all i cant think of anything else right now.#Also what i meant with the part with blaze is that in g4 onwards where you have to be an alicorn to be a princess #she would be an alicorn. but in older gens where alicorns dont exist and any pony species can be royalty she'd be a unicorn #sorry i know most people only really care about g4 and only take g4s species rules into account when designing pony versions #of characters but i really love g1 and g3 as well as g4 so i like to consider those when thinking about this stuff too
