Currently having a lot of thoughts about Germany's character as I come to the end of my History of Modern Germany course
#hetalia#hws germany#this man's formative years were defined by two earth shattering wars#(much like most german youth of the time)#after he grew up very quickly#and then after ww2 his whole thing was#how can i give back? how can i be better?#which i tread on thin ice referring to ww2 i know#but i'm mainly thinking about postwar ludwig having to navigate being a person and a nation truly alone without gilbert#and how to define his own legacy outside of gilbert#bc the whole postwar period was about germany redefining itself and fixing the problems of the past#problems that stretched all the way back to before ww1 mind you#and that's good for him in the end bc he needed that independence#and needed to grow on his own#just *yells*
