I think there should be more fanfic where shen yuan and shen jiu just like fist fight each other in a walmart parking lot type vibes or smth. Scratches and screams and biting and rolling in the dirt. "To develop you need to suffer" VS "you don't need to suffer to develop", Total opposites meeting in a messy, petty clash in the backdrop of being perfect foils to each other morally. Absolute hatred of the others' outlook on life but also simply not thinking about it that deeply. Beating the face in of someone that looks eerily like you and feeling childishly satisfied doing it.

Not a humongous fan of fics where Blitzø confesses that Stolas was never condescending to him. He totally was— unintentionally at times, but part of privilege is not realizing the gap that exists between you and other people. It’s a part of their relationship they’d have to address in order to move on.

Dunno if that’ll actually happen, and how much I personally care is hampered by the fact that Stolas was extorting Blitzø to begin with. So i don’t feel too badly for him. Like how can anything good come from that.

And I think that's maybe what the OP is keying in on? To boil various "outsider" lines ALL down to an allegory to queerness is super boring and usually brought on by queers that live in a more comfortably narrow walk of life/health point/class rank, or at least that's what I think.
