After reading (all comes crashing) my brain took an unexpected detour, obsessively thinking about older Fords Constance, like did she actually not reciprocate his feeling or just, decided that it's for the best that they don't, Fords character has can be a bit tunnel visioned/shortsighted at times and can't see the bigger picture while Stan's is self sacrificing till the end

How would she feel about this, would she feel more self-conscious (wrinkles and more fat than her younger self) or betrayed?

GOSH this is such a good ask! i mean, the most honest answer is the most boring and tragic which is that, similarly to handling the "bill situation" in combat baby, i simply Refused To Think About It cause it was easier that way lol.

but like. now i AM thinking about it. i think the "easy" answer, narratively at least, would be to say that his constance didn't reciprocate, so when the opportunity here presented itself, he was even less inclined than he may normally have been to stop himself from making a questionable decision.

but i think the more INTERESTING answer is something that's muddier than that!

like, maybe it's not that anything wasn't reciprocated or decided on, it's that ford and constance haven't ADDRESSED it. and ford's in this place of wanting her, and terribly, but the risk feels too high after he almost lost her. so maybe he's resigned himself to not bringing it up, to not tricking himself into seeing what he wants to see when she looks at him, because having some part of constance that still wants to be beside him is better than none at all.

cue whatever silly shit got him HERE (i'm thinking rift fuckery or just good ole fashioned inventing something that backfired). and he does TRY to keep his distance, becuase he's trying to be smart about this. it's impossible to tell at a glance if this is time travel or dimension travel, but he knows he should limit the number of ripples he causes either way. so he tries to keep a low profile, but...well he has to eat, right? and if he ends up at the diner that he remembers stan working at in high school, it's just because he knows he can afford it, not for any other reasons...

and well. then there IS a chance here to indulge at least a little in something he's already resigned himself to never having at home, a little harmless flirting, right? and he knows it isn't proof that constance feels this way about HIM, not really, but it gives him a chance to indulge in the fantasy at least. and he'd forgotten just how short her shorts tended to be, and the smell of that specific perfume she'd worn these last few years together, and when he realizes she's interested in more than a little flirting, well, who can blame him, for giving in??

BUT i promise this isn't actually about ford. that's a setup to say, surprise, maybe they were separated or they weren't spit out at the exact point in time, but what if constance was, in fact, there too, and ford just hadn't realized it? so he's trying to live out the one thing he doesn't think he can have at home. meanwhile, when constances sees them together - because of course she has to - that's just one more blow to her already bottom of the barrel self esteem at this point.

because she hadn't necessarily felt that way at the time, but seeing herself in her younger years? a little acne, sure, but no wrinkles. a figure that looks more "voluptuous" or "full" than just fat old woman. and seeing ford, fawning over her? that look on his face and the way he can't keep his damn hands to himself?

he'd never said anything to her at home. they'd had plenty of opportunity for it, and nada. it's not like she could bring it up -- she'd fucked up both their lives so many times, she couldn't risk this being one more thing to do it. but it's so obvious now, seeing them together, that ford has the same feelings she does.

or at least...he did. at one point. back when she was still pretty and her back wasn't liable to give out at any moment. back before she'd fucked things up for them the first time. and if he's willing to look like this much of a fucking creep with teenage her, but he can barely hold eye contact with her at home? it's not her -- current, old her -- that he wants; it's this nostalgic fantasy of something she's never going to be again, that she doesn't even fulling remember being the first time, and that fucking hurts.

the REAL question at this point is....does she find younger ford? i don't think she would go looking for him, but younger!ford is DEFINITELY stalking whatever the fuck older!ford and his sister are up to, so it's not unlikely that he would run into older constance without even realizing it. and he's already come to terms with some kind of future him time traveling to fuck his sister, so finding an older woman in tears, near the same vantage point he's chosen, with his sister's nose?? that's sus. constance would be entirely too chill about his hands and she'd probably fuck up and call him sixer or poindexter, and at that point, jealous ass younger ford would be like WAIT ONE GODDAMN SECOND. she wouldn't even try that card to convince him otherwise, cause what's the point since he already knows what's going on.

and then she'd just sigh and hook an arm around his shoulders and pull him away from whatever date they were both peeping on to get coffee or something, cause jesus, sixer, this is sad even for us, let's at least go somewhere to mope where they won't see us. cause it's one thing to be a weepy sad sack mess by herself, but she'll be damned before she does it in front of ford - any ford - and especially not this baby version of her brother who's already at his wit's end.

then ford would try and get answers about what the hell they're doing here, stan would have at least a passing knowledge of her best guess based on all the stupid quantum physics research she had to do to rebuild the portal, and that would distract teenage ford so fucking badly.

Hi,

Would you do a break down of Batman's identity crisis? Because he's got layers, and most of them are exaggeration of certain aspects of his normal self, or wildly different.

Like, everyone in the league has a few layers to their secret identity, but they have a civilian identity to fall back on and be normal or themselves or whatever. Even Oliver Queen can say he's comfortable and genuine being Ollie.

Bruce's sense of identity has layers the same way that taco dip has layers, which is to say, those layers are all extremely different, there's no one key standout, and every time you scoop a chip into it, you get a different combination of flavors.

I generally stay away from the "Bruce Wayne is the mask" stuff the reddit bros love. I don't think Bruce Wayne is the mask, so much as we (and Bruce) have a hard time putting our finger on who exactly Bruce Wayne is, actually. Batman and Brucie, Matches, all of those other faces, they're not not him -- especially Batman -- but they're facets, large facets of who he is, but not wholly encompassing Bruce.

I think I've mentioned before that I hc that Bruce envies Ollie, like you mentioned, because he doesn't struggle (as much) with his sense of identity. He's Green Arrow, he's Ollie, and he's Oliver Queen -- and for the most part, those are separate, discrete people. Deep down, though, he thinks of himself as Ollie. His default is Ollie. Bruce's problem, in many ways, is that he has no set default -- just a rapidly shifting set of identities that serve him best in that moment.

I think it's easier to decide who Bruce is via isolated moments that don't fit into the other identities. Things that aren't Batman or Brucie or even Matches, etc. Fatherhood is a good vein to look at -- so is grief. The order than Bruce imposes on his life, the Justice League, his friendships, etc -- do those actually serve those other identities? Or are they also related to that possible default?

she's a Melusine even stranger than you- or perhaps, like you, she's not a Melusine at all. but she's friendly and curious, with a sharp interest in tidalgas, and whatever fear she had of Foul Legacy evaporates when you explain that he's a friend, dancing around and allowing herself to be picked up and placed on Legacy's shoulder opposite of you. he's strong, after all- carrying two not-Melusine is nothing to him! you gift your new friend some tidalga you were carrying, much to her delight, and she pats her mittens over the shimmering patterns across your body with a knowing look in her eyes

she doesn't come with you when you leave Erinnyes, but somehow you know that she'll be there to greet you if you ever come to visit again

That music ask gave me an idea I can’t get over.

Imagine Dad!Gale. Tav is plunking out a lullaby on the piano while he reads to their little one. He notices the kiddo isn’t paying attention to the book, they’re more interested in the music.

He gently nudges them towards Tav and the itty bitty magician scampers over, begging Tav to teach them.

“Of course my little love! But first scales!” Tav says.

Gale watches with a satisfied smile as Tav teaches their little one’s fingers the ups and downs of the treble cliff line.

How could godhood compare to this moment?

Ohhh, Gale enjoying sweet domestic moments, my beloved 🥹💜 This is a tear-jerker for sure!

I firmly believe that human Gale would have so, so, so many moments like this, moments where he pauses to take in the joy of a little everyday interaction with his beloved partner/spouse, or his partner/spouse and child, or his partner/spouse and children, depending on your particular HC and whether Tav and Gale got married, etc.

Because human Gale recognizes how precious these moments are. In the epilogue where Gale does not succeed at achieving godhood and he dies, his simulacrum laments his foolishness: “To think I believed godhood was worth losing all this...” And in the epilogue with our beloved Professor/Adventurer Gale, we see him getting choked up at being reunited with the other companions again: “I never thought we’d be together like this again…”

This is why Gale choosing the human path is so important: he not only learns to accept himself, he also learns to embrace mortality, and to cherish all the gifts that it has to offer.

Gale sees his little one’s face light up with glee as Tav patiently instructs them, and he feels his eyes filling up in response.

To think I might never have experienced this…to think I might have traded this for…what? Power? Power wrapped in a cloak of loneliness? Power buried under the weight of an eternity of regret? Foolishness. Madness…

For a moment he’s so caught up in his thoughts that he doesn’t realize tears are streaking down his cheeks, soaking into his beard.

“Gale?” Tav’s loving voice brings him back to the present, and he blinks at the wetness in his eyes as he tries to focus. “Oh, love. Are you crying?” There’s affection in Tav’s voice, and an amused, adoring smile on their face. “…again?”

Gale can’t help but laugh in response, at the situation, at himself, and yet it only makes his eyes well up even more. “I love you,” he says, for what else is there to say? Those are the only words that matter.

He joins Tav and their child at the piano bench, crouching so that he can be close to them, bad knees be damned. His little one looks up as he does so, and concern flickers over their face. It’s such a sweet expression that for an instant it makes Gale’s breath catch.

“Daddy sad?” They ask, eyes wide as they reach out to touch his wet cheek.

Gale’s reply is a barrage of kisses before scooping them up, taking their tiny hand between his thumb and forefinger, feeling how warm and delicate it is, marveling at their perfect mortality.

“Oh no, my love,” he says, laughing even as the tears flow faster, pulling Tav in so that he can embrace them both, his two perfect loves. “Daddy is happy. So very, very happy.”

How does Tommy react when he finds out Buck keeps a ring cutter in his kitchen?

The water on the stove is boiling over and the sauce splattered onto the collar of his shirt and the oven timer’s going off and Buck is digging through his fridge for the pecorino cheese and all he’s finding is parmesan, but that’s not the same and he can’t–

There’s a knock at the door. Shit. Either Tommy’s early or Buck is running way, way behind. One glance at the clock on the top of the oven confirms it’s the latter. “It’s open!” Buck calls, abandoning the open refrigerator in favor of jabbing at the button below the clock to stop the timer’s incessant beeping. He pulls the oven door open, steam pouring out and settling over his skin as he huffs out a frustrated breath, trying to remember where he set down the oven mitts earlier. He grabs a dish towel from the counter instead, folding it over before using it to pull the tray of garlic bread from the oven. 

He sets it on the stove with a small clatter, dropping the tray the last inch or two as the heat bleeds through the thin dish towel and reaches his skin. He mumbles a curse beneath his breath, shaking his fingers out as he flips the tap on and shoves them beneath the cool stream of water. 

He looks up at the sound of the front door closing, and everything settles as he sees Tommy there. The frantic beat of his heart turns calmer, his breath comes a little easier. Everything slows down.

Buck watches as Tommy flips the lock into place and toes off his shoes, leaving them beside the door, next to Buck’s own. It’s been a couple of months now, and Buck still feels a pleasant hum beneath his skin each time he sees Tommy. Anticipation and eagerness and adoration all beating from his heart and swimming in his veins, an exhilarating combination made absolutely intoxicating when coupled with the way Tommy looks at him so reverently, as if he’s something special.

“You have to lock your door, Evan,” Tommy says by way of greeting. “You never know who’s….” his sentence trails off as he turns to face Buck and takes in the sight before him. The refrigerator is wide open, as is the oven, not to mention three or four drawers and cabinets. The pot on the stove is still bubbling over, and there’s Buck, standing in the midst of it all with a dish towel slung over his shoulder and his fingers beneath the faucet. 

Tommy crosses the room quickly, pushing the refrigerator doors closed, and then the oven. He steps up behind Buck, his arms wrapping around him from behind. Buck gives Tommy his weight almost instantly, all but melting into him. Tommy’s fingers wrap around Buck’s wrists, his touch gentle yet insistent as he turns Buck’s hands over, no doubt searching for signs of injury.

“Burn yourself?” Tommy asks, concern edging into his voice. 

Buck shrugs, letting out a long, deep breath. “Kind of,” he admits. “It’s not bad. I— I think I’m alright, I just…” his voice trails off as Tommy runs his fingers over his palms, then his fingers, letting the water rush over his own hands without a care if it gets on his sleeves.

“Hmm,” Tommy hums, a low rumble in his chest. “Looks okay,” he assures him, punctuating his declaration with a kiss to Buck’s temple. Buck lets out a deep breath, relaxing against him. Tommy is a warm, welcome weight behind him, broad and strong and steady and safe. “Sorry,” Buck mumbles, reaching to turn off the tap before turning around in Tommy’s arms and looking up at him. “I– I’m behind and the water’s boiling over and I can’t find the right cheese, and I– I wanted to have all this done before you got here and–”

I was reading your posts, and I realized you watched Sonic X! How did you feel abt sonadow at the end when Shadow sacrificed himself for everyone? (When Shadow punched Sonic and removed his inhibitors to teleport the explosion away)

I did! That was actually my first introduction to Shadow. I played the games before he existed and then hadn't heard of him until then. I think that scene is partially what sealed sonadow for me to be honest. And if you've read a certain fic of mine you'll see how Sonic feels about Shadow ever taking off his inhibitors and how the tables sort of got reversed on that one but in any case!

I think it shows the depth of care Shadow is capable of, how far he's willing to go to protect what's important. Sonic became important. Once Shadow realized Sonic was about to dive headfirst into stopping the explosion to save his friends, he stopped Sonic.

I think there's a good amount of romantic imagery in those scenes too. The little pink petals that look like hearts for example? The way Shadow looks at Sonic after he says his goodbyes to Cosmo and they're immediately in sync? The way Sonic tells Shadow to hold on, knowing what he's about to do, before sagging against him after Shadow punches him to save him....

Yup. That's part of what did it for me. I watched that in 2020 and was like. Welp. These idiots gay for each other and then the rest is fanfic history!

AHHH WELL…. it’s tough anon….. i feel like calling him selfish almost paints him in a bad light but i truly don’t see his selfishness as a bad thing 😭 suguru’s love is very very tender, but it’s kind of… rooted in his own need for devotion. if that makes sense. suguru craves to care for you, y’know? it’s all about you, yes, but it’s all about you because that’s what he wants… what he needs… he feels complete when you let him love you. he feels happy when you’re happy. so really it’s all about him, but all that’s running through his mind is you you you…. if that? makes sense???

like. at the end of the day. all suguru wants is to be the one who stands at your side. and he will fight for that position, as opposed to someone like gojo who i think would slink into the shadows if he thought it was best for you….. if your relationship was making you miserable then obviously suguru wouldn’t want you to stay, but. the thing is that he does make you happy. he sees it as his duty and it’s not a duty he’d ever give away to someone else, even if they could love you in ways he couldn’t... suguru is determined to be worthy of you!!!! he needs you and he needs to love you, to make you happier than anyone else. it’s a strong, selfish desire but that doesn’t make it bad!!!

In one of the episodes, Jun mentioned that she wanted to pierce her ears twice. in your version she has already done this?

oh dude you either have memory of a steel trap or someone had a good rewatch recently! But, wow, tbh I do not remember this and in HoM AU designs I only delibarately added earrings/piercings to Kim and Jake to sort of break their design more from their og looks (especially Kim lol, I barely changed her anything xD) but also for practical in-verse reasons. I didnt even think about Jun or anyone else... but you know? I like it, so now she does!

AND now she got 7 of them!!! Some are just simple hoops or studs, but others are magical gem stones for emergencies (small spells and protections), and she can just swap them out when needed.

After you mentioned it, I wonder why out of all characters Jun is like almost the only one without piercings of any sorts? I mean even Lila got a fang earring and she has been human-shaped for like less than a year?? Which led me to a headcanon:

What if Jun's invulnerability is so strong she couldn't even get piercings in a normal human way? So, going with her Mom or her friends to get her ears pierced in a mall was out of the question. She and Jasmine had to enchant a needle/make a spell (or maybe just visit a monster beauty salon), just for her to do it and after they just show up to her parents like: "Oh look Barbara, Michael, I took Jun to pierce her ears, doesn't she look wonderful?'

And later Jun just took the needle/spell to covertly make more piercings with her friends, which Ophelia was more than happy to do. The other three she got a bit later over the years. ;D

i'm an absolute sucker for angst, so definitely the 'stay away, i'm dangerous' way--but not just like, as simply as that. i need it to have personal stakes. there's this one comic i'm gonna link once i find it later that i think does this very well.

the puppy-fication of werewolves can be fun though! i prefer it mixed in, sometimes, but it's not a necessity for me for werewolf stories :)

there was this one talk show where i lip synced Bruce’s words as he was saying them and mocked all his hand motions behind his back- that’s not particularly crazy but i enjoyed it thoroughly

there was also the Wired Most Searched Questions interview where whenever there was a question i didn’t want to answer id just sprinkle in really personal information about him i know he doesn’t want public and he would shout from behind the camera to cut it out all panicky :)

I feel like a lot of people forget about how much of a gremlin Time really is. He's cryptic for the bit, because he thinks it's funny, but he's absolutely willing to talk about things when asked (like when he told Wind about his entire adventure). Yeah this man's got trauma, but at the point he's at now he's healed a lot. I also think that he's just incredibly awkward, and it makes him come across as aloof and ✨mysterious✨

Twilight is the softest dorkiest Link by far and I will DIE on this hill. He's the biggest big brother to ever brother, and he vibes like someone who feels most useful when he's taking care of other people. It's very important to him. My boy is also so so stubborn like who the heck thinks it's a good idea to try and walk off an axe wound to the gut 😭 also I know in my heart that he gives the best hugs ever and I think a hug from him would fix me actually

People like to make Warriors this shallow jerk??? and he's NOT. He's really really not. He's just a big brother and he loves to tease. He's also really smart too, esp with battle tactics and working with other people. Also this man def knows field medicine like look at him whenever one of the others is downed in a fight, he's always right there making sure that they're okay.

Four is so so clever and really good at teamwork (obviously lol). but like!!! I love how throughout LU you can actively see him working really well with the others and accounting for their skills and where they are in battle, like in The Shadow arc he ducks down so Time can land a hit and it's a really cool scene. I also love his inside jokes with himself lol. He keeps his secrets just because he's waiting for a big dramatic reveal and I respect him for it.

Wind makes the best facial expressions HANDS DOWN. He's such a big brother too, and even tho he's the youngest Link I'm sure he still big brothers all the others lol. Also!!! This kid literally made the gods choose him as a hero. At every turn literally nobody took him seriously and he proved himself and killed Ganondorf!!! I'm so proud of him. ALSO Wind is so smart. He's the first one to start piecing together the timeline(s)!!

Wild is honestly super hyper competent?? Boy knows how to live off the land. He's smart. He chooses to be silly bc he enjoys being silly, not bc he's stupid. Also he was literally a prodigy!!!! That doesn't go away just because he lost his memories. He basically started out with the master sword (as in he started his knighthood with the sword already in hand), he defeated a guardian with a pot lid, also he knows how to cook lol. He's fine vibing by myself, but he's also happy to hang out with the others too :) also yeah he has a lot of trauma and guilt over everything that happened :(

Legend's harshness to me is def a projection. A coping mechanism, if you will. Boy's got such a soft heart (bunny hehe) and he wants to protect it from getting hurt again. That doesn't stop him from loving and caring about the others, he's just more guarded about it. And despite everything he's been through... he still loves adventuring. He really does.

Hyrule's got SO much grit and sheer determination. And he's so powerful too, even if he doesn't think that he is. He's got spells!!! That's something none of the others really have. Boy's got the toughest enemies in the entire franchise, too. He survived the Adventure of Link. That's insane lol also he's got SUCH just a little guy energy fr and I love that for him

I think people also forget what a troublemaker Sky is. And he absolutely gets away with all of it too bc like just look at his face. Is that the face of someone who's ever done something wrong in their entire life? yes. yes it is But he's also genuinely so so sweet too and yeah he def gives really great hugs. Also he's an insanely talented swordsman??? Like there's a reason he's called the Godslayer™️ lol. Sky is SCARY when he's angry. He just doesn't get angry all that easily.
