Ayato: Idol AU Headcanons

// Since you guys enjoyed my DL K-pop AU posts, I decided to write some HCs about Ayato, because he was the most talked about. In this AU, the Sakamakis aren’t actual brothers, nor are they vampires; the group’s concept is just the one of a vampire family. Some details here are based on true things about Ayato but have been slightly tweaked to better fit the idol AU. Hope you enjoy! ❤️

He was once a basketball player and even served as the captain of his team. His dedication to the sport often led him to compete in numerous tournaments, causing him to skip many classes.

Ayato was scouted for his visuals. The CEO of REJET LABELS noticed his youthful yet refined features while Ayato was casually walking home from high school.

A former classmate confirmed Ayato’s popularity at school. She also mentioned that people would randomly take pictures of him on the street, and a bunch of his photos are used on Pinterest for inspiration.

Even before starting his trainee period, Ayato was already quite good in both slow and freestyle dancing. After beginning his training, he discovered his rapping abilities.

As a trainee, the first person Ayato befriended was Laito, who remained his closest companion even after debuting. The two are often spotted hanging out together.

Ayato hates doing aegyo. However, during a special episode of the variety show MUKBROS, Kou dared him to sing and dance to a cute song. The performance went extremely viral, skyrocketing his popularity. Despite this success, Ayato has admitted that the experience still gives him PTSD.

Ayato is in high demand for brand deals and appears to be everywhere. Rumor has it he’s poised to become the next Chanel ambassador. Unfortunately, this has led some solo fans of other members to accuse him of favoritism, casting him in a negative light.

He is the first member of the SAKAMAKIS to appear in Vogue, where he was officially recognized as the "IT boy."

He was ranked 1st in top 100 most beautiful faces (male version); one of the reasons why he gained the “Visual God” title within the idol community.

His best known controversy involves plastic surgery. Netizens noticed changes in Ayato’s nose and jaw when comparing his pre-debut photos and videos to his current appearance. A bunch of Dialovers took his side, attributing the changes to puberty, yet others strongly disagreed, spreading hate by making posts about him looking “botched.”

Last year, he partnered with soloist Cardia as a MC. This experience had a mixed impact on Ayato’s image. While some criticized him for occasionally forgetting his lines or laughing and posing in front of the camera while Cardia consistently gave her all, others came to his defense. Many fans and non-fans argued that the criticism was too harsh, pointing out that Ayato was never intended to be the spokesperson of his group, but Reiji. They also emphasized that it was unfair to compare someone with no prior experience to someone used to give speeches.

When asked who he considers the best-looking person he knows, he confidently answered, while giggling, "myself." Shu then posed the same question but added a rule: he couldn’t choose himself again. In response, Ayato admitted that Cardia is a close second.

Despite this, the biggest dating rumor surrounding Ayato involved a possible relationship with the daughter of one of the staff members. Diapatch spotted Ayato with a blonde girl at a private event, and sasaengs later reported seeing them holding hands late at night. Whether they are actually dating remains unclear, but the rumors enraged many of Ayato’s solo stans. Some were so upset that they filmed themselves destroying his PCs and degrading the girl online.

The hate train quickly faded, especially after Ayato's successful solo debut. His fancams went viral, with his styling making him truly resemble a Vampire Prince. This reminded netizens of his iconic performance on MUKBROS, leaving them stunned by his duality. On top of that, his noticeable improvement silenced critics who had dismissed him as "just a visual."

When asked which idol he’d like to get to know better, he mentioned soloist KINO from the same company. A few months later, KINO invited him to his limited-edition web show, where they had the chance to interact, play games and even filmed a TikTok together afterward.

It’s rumored that not only REJET LABELS, but also other companies pressure idols into plastic surgery to resemble Ayato. This theory gained credibility when Zen from Un: Birthday Song looked different in middle school but began resembling Ayato after becoming a trainee, securing his debut spot in a reality competition.

People who have seen Ayato describe him as having an arrogant and bold presence on stage, perfectly fitting his vampire idol persona. However, off-stage, he’s known to be kind to his fans and happy to engage in casual conversations. Recently, a Dialover shared their experience meeting Ayato, saying, “In MVs and concerts he appears untouchable, but in real life, you realize he’s just a normal handsome boy.”

He is frequently described as the ideal type in street interviews, admired for his stunning looks, hardworking nature, and confident personality. Moreover, many trainees have cited him as their role model.

This mini drama was performed live during the DL 10th anniversary event on Niconico back in 2022! During the introduction, the voice actors were talking about how happy they were to perform together again instead of alone in a recording booth, which was really wholesome. Ayato: Bet you’re enjoying making us fight over you, huh, Pancake? You’ve no right to refuse me. Just be a good girl and become mine. You can tell me ‘no’ all you want, but you know full well how your body responds to my fangs.  Be honest and tell me you want me so badly it hurts. I’ll have you in ecstasy before you know it.  So choose me, Pancake.

[Ayato kisses you.]

Shuu: Heh. You have no composure at all, Ayato. What’re you doing, trying to lead her on like that? [To you:] You know you’ve been head over heels for me from the start. I won’t let you get away now. So just be a good girl and confess your love. Lose yourself in me. I’ll make you feel so good you won’t be able to think about anything else.

[Shuu kisses you.]

No but I feel like with all the clubbing and whatnot, that's how Laito possibly could've found his brief interest in such a thing. Also convinced this man has been to drag shows as well, so that just adds more fuel to the fire. As for where he got the heels...Does it REALLY need to be said with how he does get around with women on a daily?

He doesn't even slip or anything when first walking in heels, he treats it as nothing- A walk in the park simply. Laito prolly has worn high heels to school before and simply nobody took it in (Just to be cunty I guess????)

I don't know, he doesn't find it as it being a trans interest from his triplet, but a simple act of comedy that gets on the rest of the households nerves.

I can probably count up to 6+ times where Ayato purposely tries tripping Laito up//down the stairs WHILE he is in heels, it's priceless.

He sorta wants to try strutting himself in heels just to see how it is.

Ayato sprained his ankle within the first ten minutes of being in the heels (It's not for everyone)

Ayato also uses Laito's ability to strut in heels for his own media uses, he'll take videos just to post them and gain attention (taking all the credit in fact of putting his triplet in heels)

He seems pretty cool with it, finds it entertaining every time w//Laito, but he also enjoys it because it's something Laito does for Ayato to get him in a better mood at times, despite it being...Silly. He doesn't judge his brother for wearing heels other than jokingly calling him a queer or a drag, doesn't care what Laito does either way

Kanato >>> Hates it

He has no interest whatsoever in the art of strutting, ESPECIALLY when it's coming from his perverted brother.

Kanato in fact finds the noise of heels against the floor annoying, whether it's a spike or flat platform. Sure, he's into the doll aesthetic of clothing with the cute heels and stuff, but least they don't CLICK CLACK CLICK CLICK CLA- (i'm shutting up)

Not to mention how Laito is already taller than Kanato, the heels just add more which Kanato takes STRONG offense to as seeing it as a way to taunt Kanato for being 5'5

Laito has offered Kanato try the many pairs of heels he owns (stole) but Kanato wants NOTHING whatsoever to do with them

He doesn't really care what Laito does, or any of his siblings overall. He barely keeps his eyes open, so why would Laito strutting be entertaining?

I guess the times he is awake and it happened to be when Laito is in heels, he'll take a moment or so to watch him, but that's really it.

It's like a literal circus, Shu looses his voice drunk with a flushed face seeing Laito and heels, and it gets better when Ayato trips him and stuff too.

Doesn't appreciate this side of Laito, thinking him wearing any form of female clothing is disgusting nonetheless (Hi I'm one of those DL blogs who is convinced Reiji Sakamaki is homphobic and wants nothing to do with queers, trans people, etc...)

Has probably yelled at Laito wayyy too many times for him to not walk in heels around the mansion, as the noise disturbs the peace. Reiji also has a thing for finding markings on the floor from when Ayato attempted to try sturtting and tripped and scratched the wooden material//other material of the floor up (Which now he has to get rid of all over the place)

When it comes to wearing heels out in public, Reiji doesn't care, just as long as he isn't in the presence of Laito himself. As they enter the limo to get to school, and Laito comes in wearing the heels, you can hear Reiji heavily sigh and rub his face under his glasses.

Subaru >>> Fucking fed up

If Subaru hears "She's a super queen (duper queen) She's droppin', she's flippin', she's winnin'" ONE more time, he is blowing the mansion up.

He has nothing against drag queens and stuff (Because he doesn't seriously care about them) But the music makes him want to fucking kill himself

When Laito strunts, Subaru is his target to tease and bother the most.

And don't get Subaru started with the heel noises too, he hates them MORE than Kanato.

Subaru was resting in his coffin one time only to hear those fucking heels pranching and struttig on the LID of the coffin. (He sent Laito flying when he opened it with full force)

When he hears just one click clack from the heels, Subaru knows it's over for him and his patiences, right out the damn window. He gets headaches rather easily, and Laito strutting DOESN'T help them.

As soon as I’d spat out the words, smoke started rising from the searing hot teppan (1) in front of me.

“It’s burning…?! Shit! How’d that happen?!”

I went over to the sink, getting increasingly irritated, and turned on the tap to fill a nearby cup with water. By that point, smoke was billowing up from the steel plate. It was then, when I reached over to throw the water onto the pan, that…

“Ayato! Stop, you shouldn’t do that!”

“The fuck?!”

“S-sorry… I didn’t mean to…”

“You’re the one who told me to make it myself, right?! Right?” I threatened, looming over her. Her lip quivered while she apologised, her voice small.  

It had all started a mere ten minutes ago.

I’d just been craving takoyaki before bed. I woke up Pancake, who’d already been fast asleep, and pestered her to make it for me. However, of all the things she could’ve done, she flat-out told me I should be able to make such a simple dish myself.

Well, she ain’t wrong, I’d briefly thought—and yet her blunt statement had really pissed me off. It made me want to put her in her place. 

Then, another thought suddenly occurred to me. I wanted to prove to her that I could, in fact, make takoyaki myself.

And so, in a petty attempt at retaliation, I’d decided to actually prepare the takoyaki on my own. But to think the same person who told me to do so would still be poking her nose into my business…

“I’m sorry, I think I should make the takoyaki after all.” 

“What?!”

Pancake sounded exasperated when she reached over to take the metal skewers from my hands and stood in front of the takoyaki machine.

“The fuck’re you doin’? Then why’d you tell me to make it myself?! Besides, they’re almost done already, so…” I grumbled while Pancake narrowed her eyes at me from over her shoulder.

“...I thought you would repetitively refuse to make it yourself, so…”

“What?”

“So I’d figured you’d go to great lengths to make me do it!” she said, somehow quite angrily.

“So what, huh? I tried to make you do it but you didn’t in the end. Why’re you yappin’ like it’s not in your favour?”

“...Come on! It’s… because… I wanted you to ask me, Ayato…”

“Huh?”

“Well… I felt a bit irritated because you woke me up out of the blue, but… you know, I actually find it… kind of… cute when you come to me asking to prepare takoyaki for you, Ayato…” Pancake’s face turned bright red—all the way to her ears—when she said it.

“W-what’s… cute…? The fuck?! Are you out of your mind?” My voice almost betrayed me.

“I’m not! Come on, Ayato…! Why did you choose to actually make it yourself this time…?” Pancake mumbled, skillfully turning over the takoyaki. 

I’d thought the takoyaki had been burning, but it turned out not to be so bad after all.

What she said made me feel like I had been a bit unreasonable. I swallowed hard. 

“Uh… anyway! I’m always fine with making takoyaki for you, okay…?!”

“Ugh… I-I don’t understand you, woman!” I retorted. 

In all honesty, I just didn’t know how to deal with being thrown off-balance this way. 

The takoyaki turned out to be… so bad that they were inedible. I must’ve messed up the ingredients somehow. In the end, it seemed like there was no other way than to let Pancake make takoyaki for me from now on, no matter how much she got on my nerves.

Well, I guessed it couldn’t be helped.

Still, though… the next time she calls me cute, I’ll drain her to the last drop!
