The Harrington Family
Demeter : Agriculture and Grain Industry
The Harrington family are an eminent force in the agriculture and grain industry that made their riches beginning as a humble grain storage business in Iowa before expanding across the Midwest and eventually launching into a full scale, complex international organization and successful competitor in global markets. First Harrington (78) has stepped down as CEO for the company as of two years ago, enjoying retirement with her husband and former socialite who graced the upper echelons of high society, First Fontana (77).
The Harrington Company is now run by the eldest son, First Harrington (51) as CEO, alongside his wife and documentary filmmaker First Harrington (50), with two children of their own. First Harrington (46) remains unmarried but actively contributes to the family legacy as a dedicated member of the Board of Directors. Taking after her father, First Nolan (44) has graced New York City’s high society as a socialite alongside her husband First Nolan (45), with two identical twin daughters to help with the family’s prestigious, perfect image.
The youngest daughter, First Harrington (39) has tried to keep herself away from the family politics and paved her own way as the Managing Editor of the New York Times, but has found herself on the front pages of her own newspaper due to the highly publicized (and some would also say quite sudden) engagement to renowned architect First Montgomery (48). At the end of the Harrington dynasty are the two youngest boys, First Harrington (36) and their adopted son, First Harrington (34) - both of whom have escaped the clutches and demands that their elder siblings face, allowing them to pave their own paths and discover what they want to do in the world.
Some may say that it is the privilege of being the youngest, but others would argue it’s because they didn’t receive as much attention and focus growing up as their siblings may have. Regardless, the Harrington family has made a lasting impression on the court of high society and seems to only be continuing the trend with the potential merger between the Harrington and Montgomery families looming on the horizon.

'...9. 'John Adams' (2008)
Created by Kirk Ellis
Paul Giamatti and Laura Linney observing ongoing events with interest as John and Abigail Adams in John Adams.Image via HBO Before he was the butt of the jokes in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton, John Adams was the subject of a 7-part HBO miniseries. Stuck in between the overpowering legacies of George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, the 2008 miniseries sought to highlight one of America’s more overlooked founding fathers. Written by Kirk Ellis, directed by Tom Hooper, and executive produced by Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman, the miniseries was adapted from the 2001 book of the same name by David McCullough.
The show, which begins in 1770, ambitiously covers 50 years, chronicling John Adams’ entire political career and the first 50 years of America’s independence, all the way to his death on July 4th, 1826. Paul Giamatti portrays the founding father and second President of the United States, with Laura Linney as his wife, Abigail. Both performances were universally lauded, leading to Emmy wins for both actors. With 13 Emmy wins, John Adams remains the most-awarded miniseries in Emmys history...
1. 'Band of Brothers' (2001)
Created by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks
Following their very successful collaboration in 1998’s Saving Private Ryan, Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks returned to the World War 2 milieu with Band of Brothers, an adaptation of Stephen E. Ambrose’s nonfiction book of the same name. It follows the “Easy” Company, 2nd Battalion, a group of paratroopers in the U.S. Army’s 101st Airborne Division. The members are portrayed by a large ensemble of actors led by Damian Lewis, Ron Livingston and David Schwimmer. It also features a host of up-and-coming acting talent, including appearances from Michael Fassbender, Tom Hardy, Dominic Cooper, Andrew Scott, and more.
The story follows the members of the “Easy” Company from their training to the landing in Normandy and the invasion of Germany, all the way to the end of the war. Arguably the most iconic HBO miniseries, Band of Brothers revolutionized military storytelling with its immense scope and ambition. As one would expect from a show co-created by Steven Spielberg, the battle scenes are expertly made and immediately immerse the audience in their chaotic nature. However, the show is much more than an exhibition of its movie-quality filmmaking. By including interviews with the company's real-life surviving members, the show grounds its story in reality and underlines the truth. Throughout its run, Band of Brothers balances immersive action and World War 2 re-staging with prescient and delicate discussions on mental health and PTSD. So warmly was it received that it spawned two spiritual sequels: The Pacific (2010), also on HBO, and Masters of the Air (2024) on Apple TV+.'

Loving your Goncharov posts. Can’t wait for your Goncharov playlist. Who would you cast if making Goncharov today?
Oooh! That’s a toughy! I’ll do my best!
Goncharov: Oscar Isaac
Period drama with protagonist with a moral corruption arc, a looming sense of doom, a really frayed but sexy fucked up relationship with his wife while also coming off as incredibly bisexual? Who else could you POSSIBLY want?!
Mario: James Frain
He’s a conniving boot licker in Tron: Legacy as Jarvis, and a stone cold bitch as Sarek in the new Star Trek shows, Mario is somewhere in that ballpark so why not?!
Andrey: Michael Fassbender
Fassbender is sooooo good at simultaneously being extremely emotionally raw and cold and calculating and I swear to gawd if that ain’t Andrey he’s soooooo, gawd, such a juicy role. Plus I think it would be sick to see Oscar and Michael chew on the scenery together and be well… Like That. As Goncharov and Andrey
Michailov: Adrien Brody
I’ve said before that I’d love to see a Wes Anderson take in these film and Adrien Brody is in like all of Anderson’s movies and he’s always playing stuck up little hard asses like Katya’s brother so I think that works super well!
Katya: Elle Fanning
MAN I love Elle Fanning I can’t tell you how much I need this. Between the Maleficent films and also THE GREAT (she’s already a Russian aristocrat I mean come ON) she could totally pull the ‘disillusioned old money trophy wife’ thing easy! I NEED her to be Katya I neeeeeeeed it!!
Sofia: Jesse James Keitel
I mean… just LOOK at her??? Amazing, hardened chaotic and queer tough chick I mean please, Keitel can and has absolutely ROCKED that shit and would do it again, Captain Angel but make it 1970s mafia sapphic I mean that’s just CORRECT
Ice Pick Joe: Steve Buscemi
I know he doesn’t do a lot of on camera stuff anymore but god this man is so good in Fargo and I love it when he plays baddies and I think he could really lean into Joe’s homicidal tendencies with that sly voice I associate with Randall from Monsters Inc who also spooked me as a kid.
#this was fun and much harder than I anticipated#the only roles I’m really confident about honestly are Katya and Sofia I flip flopped a lot for everyone else#it also was hard because I haven’t been watching a lot of American/British cinema lately#so it’s been like#ah fuck all these conventional attractive bitches that I’ve seen in things who are they again?!#lmao#not trek#fan cast#goncharov 1973#Goncharov#mario ambrosini#andrey daddano#katya goncharova#valery michailov#goncharov sofia#ice pick Joe#oscar isaac#Elle fanning#michael fassbender#James frain#jesse james keitel#steve buscemi#adrien brody#wes anderson#martin scorsese#unreality

And now, for a rant years in the making....
The longest thing I've ever written began because X-Men First Class was such a well-acted breath of fresh air. The dynamic between Charles, Raven, and Erik really captivated and inspired me. Enough to create an ongoing series that has had more good years than bad.
Unfortunately, starting with Days of Future Past, FC's legacy was sacrificed to the creatively bankrupt egos of the very production team that ruined the X-Men film series in the first place. This, along with the misandry/racism disguised as empowerment/diversity plaguing modern media, torpedoed what could have been an amazing series. James McAvoy pulled off the impossible by cementing himself as an iconic Charles Xavier on par with Patrick Stewart. After years of Ian McKellen's hammy one-dimensional villainy, the God's gift to acting that is Michael Fassbender emerged as the definitive Erik Lehnsherr. In Jennifer Lawrence's casting as Raven, the producers took an asinine, fanfic-esque concept like making Mystique Charles' adopted little sister and pulled it off so unbelievably beautifully. Despite their limited screentime, Alex, Hank, and Sean displayed more personality and likeability than any depiction of Jean and Storm across multiple films. However, moronic Brian Singer and Simon Kinberg could not wait to destroy all of FC's good will for their own agendas.
James McAvoy portrayed Charles as spirited and slightly mischievous yet highly intelligent, altruistic, nurturing, and self-sacrificing. Then the sequels tried in forced desperation to paint him as an overbearing, elitist misogynist and the one responsible for Raven and Jean's destructive abuse of power. Even though all he did was give them a home, make difficult choices in order to protect them and others, and brought both of them onto his team due to his personal relationships and trust in them. Because women are so strong and capable except when it comes to taking responsibility for their horrible choices. No, human flaws are strictly of the Y chromosome. Charles has been abandoned his entire life, received no real support, had his body and mind mangled because of his 'best friend', yet puts everyone before himself and always forgives the undeserving. Still, the producers and equally idiotic fandom reduces him to a spoiled white male with no concept of pain or hardship.
Through extensive research and dedication, Michael Fassbender put more into portraying Erik than, quite possibly, any actor taking on a comic book role. Erik is so worldly intelligent, handsome, sauve, and masculine to alpha levels, but with a pained vulnerability about him. FC is the ONLY film to paint him in this light. According to the sequels, Erik completely abandoned the friend/brother he crippled, couldn't hold his own team together for even a year, got captured by regular humans- the strategic nazi hunter got captured by REGULAR humans for ten years, betrayed his friends who freed him at the first opportunity, took no responsibility for the unforgivable things he did to Charles, abandoned his pregnant lover, almost ruined the lives of mutants everywhere by attempting a terrorist attack on TV, then ran off with his tail between his legs once thwarted. And that was only DoFP. In the next movies, he gave up his mutant identity completely, married a regular woman two seconds after declaring war on regular humans, was a pitiful excuse for a father who couldn't train his ONE mutant child to control her powers, got his family killed by his own past actions, then went on a murder spree with a lunatic that resulted in Charles' torture, Alex's death, and the destruction of the school- with the students being saved only by Peter's coincidental presence. I'm not even going to talk about that stupid phoenix movie. My blood pressure is already to the ceiling. No wonder Michael Fassbender grew to hate his character.
Speaking of hating their own character, even Jennifer Lawrence doesn't like how the warm, familial relationship between Raven and Charles deteriorated into something so cold and bitter. Raven abandoning her devoted brother is not only never properly addressed but the sequels want to pretend like it's Charles' fault they're estranged. Raven spends their every scene being a hostile, rude ingrate towards him right up until she's killed by that monotone wet rag they call Jean. Charles is willing to sacrifice his own life multiple times for Raven but she shows more regard for her attempted murderer Erik. So, I suppose the feminist message is that a protective, peace seeking, reasonable man is too controlling and toxic but a violent, unhinged, homicidal man is worthy to be praised. That phoenix movie sure thought so, considering they completely demolished Hank McCoy.
These movies also have no care or concern for life itself. The hellfire club slaughtered an entire facility full of people and killed Darwin yet Erik and Raven jumped to join them. Then, we're supposed to care that those monsters are dead by DoFP. Meanwhile, Sean and Alex's deaths are glossed over but Raven's is supposed to be tragic and meaningful.
That brings up yet another problem with this cursed series. Mutation is supposed to be an allegory for various prosecuted groups. The producers really wanted the live action mutants to be lgbt stand-ins. I can't even begin with how insulting that is. So, Magneto's the face of the gays, huh? Meaning if other people do anything but pledge absolute loyalty to that lifestyle, gays will react with violence and destruction, willing to kill anyone- even their own-, who gets in their way. Also, those who believe the lgbt lifestyle will lead to inevitable chaos are proven right by X-Men execs. Mutants have caused massacres of government officials, killed their own family members during uncontrolled rages, and nearly doomed the planet too many times to count. This is what gays relate to? This?! This infantilized depiction as sadistic megalomaniacs?!
Overall, FC- as engaging as it was- is a mere anomaly in the grand scheme of the X-Movies. A dour, joyless, soulless catastrophe of unforgivable discontinuity, underdeveloped characters, multiple horrid actors, outrageous missed opportunities, and nonexistence ethics with a transparent, hypocritical agenda.
I started my fic in 2011 as a way of addressing the growing racial upheaval going on in the US at the time. Ten years later and things are infinitely worse than anything I could have predicted back then. There are no intelligent conversations to be had nor heroes to look up to. The entire entertainment industry has become a battleground for the war of identity politics. Not even just fandoms arguing amongst themselves but also Hollywood creators taking the time to be aggressively insulting and dismissive of their own fans. The flames of hatred are being fanned and everyone seems so blind to it.

I don't have a Twitter account, but I saw your 300 tweet, and this is exactly how I have felt ever since seeing the movie for the first time several months ago. I don't understand how its legacy is as a bro-y meme movie, instead of one of the most hideous things ever committed to film. Which it is.
things I said in that tweet, for current readers: 300 is one of the most visually unappealing, unkind, excitedly fascist movies of the past twenty years, and I don’t think we talk enough about the fact that it made 456.1 million dollars at the box office.
unlike another troy (2004), another movie where men are aggressively straight and definitely not homoerotically semi-nude the entire time, 300 is not a fun movie to think about, and one gains little insight into story and character from doing so. aria and I watched it last night, and I was surprised by how bad it was on every level. no story, no characters, no real themes, ugly visuals, which really means that the only thing about it that leaps off the screen is the xenophobia, homophobia, Western Civ Porn and the weird horror at disabled people.
anyway talking about 300 is not fun, but here is a little moment of almost clownish toxic masculinity I’d forgotten about.
so there’s this dad in gerard butler’s army and he volunteers his comely seventeen year old son to join them in the struggle. and the kid does a good job and has accidental homosocial sexual tension with michael fassbender (who is also in this movie!!!) and things are going pretty great. but then mid-battle his father calls his name in pride, and the kid is distracted at a critical moment and gets his head chopped off.
the dad runs to his son’s body and collapses to his knees like, three feet away? and kneels there, stricken with horror, before exploding into a furious rage that the narrator (faramir??) admiringly describes as being “blood-drunk”. then the other spartans drag him away from his son’s corpse. this is so emphatically not a movie where a bereaved father cradles his dead son, or even gets close enough to touch him. or seems to want to do either?
and then gerard butler sees him later and is like “how are you holding up” and the dad is like “it’s too bad I never told my son I loved him” and gerard butler is like “that’s rough buddy” and the dad says “now my heart is full of hate” and gerard butler is like “good” and they they manfully walk away from one another. there is no space for grief in this world, or tenderness or feelings of loss for anything that is not Your Woman or Your White Child and the idyllic homestead that exists in a vacuum without an ounce of communal living. anyway, don’t be a pussy.
aria said last night that all of zack snyder’s movies contain at least one thematic excuse for why It’s Fine And Normal that he and his father haven’t spoken in years and uh. yeah.
#this movie is trash but EVERYONE IS IN IT#fassbender??? david wenham??#the phantom of the opera himself#lena headey (looking -- so excellent I gotta say)#and *john mulaney voice* the bIGGEST GAY YOU'VE EVER SEEN#anyway it's wild don't watch it again it's boring and a weird look into the hollow coolness of fascism#replies

Just jumping on the Stannis chat... he is in many ways a Macbeth figure to me, in the sense that there is a tragic element to him alongside the villainy, and it's connected to power, to kingship, to a perception of the self. I mean, an obvious parallel is their connection to witchcraft and prophecy (through Melisander + the three witches), but also through the deaths of Banquo and Renly, and the way that in the former's case literally haunts Macbeth, whereas the after-effect of Renly's murder for Stannis is more psychological, more internal, but no less significant and damning. And I think Stannis will meet his end in a very similar way to Macbeth, actually... with the jarring relisation that he's made an incredibly grave miscalculation. All that being said, he is actually lowkey one of my favourite characters and Macbeth might possibly be my fave Shakespeare plays! I just vibe with the darkness, the supernatural element, the atmosphere of it.
Oh, another interesting point is I remember Michael Fassbender saying he interpreted Macbeth as suffering from PTSD, so that really informed his potrayal of him in the 2015 film. With that in mind, I think you could very much apply that Stannis as well, in terms of the emotional legacy the siege at Storms End has on him. So, for me, he's a very interesting character because there's a lot of dark complexity there, especially for a non-pov character. Anyway, at some point I'll write a meta on this comparison — it's on my list! x
What a great comparison! 😃

welcome to the DE ROSA family.
enzo de rosa. fc michael fassbender. giorgia de rosa (formally bellucci). fc nicole kidman. emiliano de rosa. fc beau mirchoff. marcello de rosa. fc lorenzo zurzolo. benedetta de rosa. fc sophia lillis.
enzo. father. 46. gemini.
Enzo is a tough, honorable man who values tradition and reputation. Maintaining the de Rosa legacy has been his sole goal since taking over his father’s inheritance. It became clear relatively quickly that his youngest son would struggle to follow his assigned role, especially when Marcello began getting into serious scuffles as young as eight years old. For the most part, Marcello abides by his father’s demands and expectations, although he is the only member of his family that actively stands up to his father. They are at constant odds, with Marcello stuck in a position of wanting to impress and also surpass his father. The tension between them has since then worsened once Enzo made the decision to send him away so that he’d be unable to taint their family image in Spain. Marcello has a deep, violent hatred for his father, but he does not plan to ever voice his disdain lest he lose favor in the de Rosa lineage.
giorgia. mother. 43. virgo.
Giorgia is the eldest daughter to a ridiculously wealthy parliament member in Italy, and she was married off to Enzo to further her family’s political ties. She is a strong woman, and she operates on duty and compassion. Giorgia is refined and regal, displaying her strength not through yelled words or showy business deals like her husband, but through small acts of control. She is a quiet, stoic woman, who has been groomed to marry a rich, powerful man all her life. Although she is not the most emotionally available mother, she actively played a role in raising her children, unlike Enzo. Giorgia is largely discontent with her life, married to a cruel man and she often plays Marcello’s savior in crises. She sticks up for Marcello even when he’s in the wrong, though this adds a constant tension to her relationship with Enzo. Marcello admires his mother, simply because she has always been good and patient with him. While he can not readily see how his mother sacrifices and suffers to protect her son, he is a mama’s boy at heart.
emiliano. older brother. 23. leo.
Growing up, the two boys always had an intense rivalry between each other. Emiliano was beefy and exceptionally bigger than Marcello, and he seemed to thrive in the spotlight while Marcello drowned trying to stay afloat. Emiliano grew up being their father’s golden boy, and he never let Marcello forget Enzo’s favoritism. The boys would often physically fight, and neither was keen to holding back on the other. His brother is a manipulative man who oozes natural charisma, and he is the heir to the pharmaceutical company Enzo built from his father’s legacy. Unlike Marcello, Emiliano’s anger is subtle despite being almost as hot-headed as his younger brother. He is more diplomatic than Marcello, often relying on his wit to get what he wants. He lives in Paris now, engaged to a Cambodian princess, but every once in the while will pop into Marcello’s life to gloat.
benedetta. younger sister. 16. cancer.
Benedetta is the beloved baby sister of the de Rosa family, and she mostly uses her title to maintain the peace within her family. While her parents failed to notice their sons’ feud, little Benedetta was always quick to step in between, even if it lead to her only getting shoved out of the way. For most of her life, she was sickly and frail, leading her parents to grow extremely paranoid with her safety. As such, she is sheltered from most of the world, though Marcello finds her innocence endearing. She is playful and naive, her father choosing to completely shelter her as his only daughter. Marcello has a deep love for his sister, often coming to her as his confidant and good conscience. These two are the closest out of the entire de Rosa family, largely due to them being the most affectionate of their family members.
distant relatives.
francesca abernathy. formerly bellucci. maternal aunt. 39. aquarius. fc jessica chastain.
Francesca is the middle daughter of the Bellucci line, and she is the most dignified of the three sisters. While Giorgia has a yielding personality to the authorities of her life, Francesca prefers to be the authority. Although she did not escape her father’s insistence on marrying a well-connected diplomat, she is vocal about her dismay and irritation with her husband. She is stern and harsh, oftentimes criticizing Marcello for his peculiar behavior. She is currently a lawyer, and she is a very viscous one at that. Francesca has a lot of qualms about Marcello, considering how untamable the boy is. Although, she is quick to follow her sister’s beckoning and raise to her nephew’s defense.
serafina romano. formerly bellucci. maternal aunt. 35. pisces. fc amy adams.
Being the youngest of the tight-nit group of sisters, Serafina is often the mediator between her older sisters’ disputes. Although she has a tendency to be ditzy, she has a good-heart and values family above everything else. Fortunately for her, her husband is an acclaimed businessman and philanthropist who she had the pleasure of knowing beforehand. Sera bears an unfathomable amount of love for her sisters’ children, specifically Marcello because of how broken the boy is. She often checks up on him, offering advice and always heeding Marcello to be smart about his decisions. While she may not agree with how the younger boy handles his issues, Sera is the most gentle and understanding of her sisters.
alessia abernathy. cousin. 17. aries. fc sadie sink.
Daughter to Francesca and a wealthy, British politician, Alessia is conniving and spoiled. She is fiery and hot-headed, quick to butt heads with Marcello anytime she sees him. She likes to push his buttons, annoying him until he lets out an outburst and gets scolded by the matriarchs of the family. Alessia is incredibly close with Marcello’s sister, Benedetta, much to his dismay. He often accuses the girl of being a bad influence, and they often bicker over who Benny is closest to.

RWBY Fan Concept: The Faunus and the White Fang
I can do this, right?
The Faunus subplot is easily the one of the most controversial topics within the RWBY fandom. Many fans have expressed disappointment in how the topic was addressed in the world of Remnant, calling it the ever so repeated line “wasted potential”. I’ve seen that quote being thrown a lot in this fandom during many discussions and rants within the fandom.
However, I honestly agree with it. I do think the Faunus subplot was wasted potential. Despite being a good subplot in concept, the execution was questionable at best, and outright poor handled at worst. One of the many things that I, and several others, feel went wrong was the fact that the Faunus haven’t really suffered any discrimination. Sure, we’ve told they do, from many characters, news articles but aside from few petty insults, Cardin’s bullying of Velvet and Weiss’s insensitive comments about Sub and the Faunus, we haven’t really felt any of the hard hitting prejudice that they supposedly receive. This debate got even more heated when Miles Luna posted this on his reddit:
I agree that the Faunus subplot was overly ambitious, among other things. But the race of the author isn’t the problem, it was how the subplot was written that was the problem. I feel that a good writer, regardless of race, can write themes of discrimination and prejudice really well.
Now, if you couldn’t tell by the title of this post, this will be addressing how I would write the Faunus and White Fang differently. This isn’t me going “I’m better than Miles and Kerry and I can write RWBY better than they can.” Absolutely NOT! All I’m doing is just giving an alternate scenario about how I would do things. I like writing fanfiction and AUs and giving my favourite stories my own spin. I’ve already done something similar with Cinder’s backstory and the Semblance Weakness Rule, now it’s time for the Faunus.
1.) Influence from the X-Men
Me and my friend, Joe, were discussing various ways we could write/remix the Faunus in our fanfics and this is where The X-Men came into the picture... and it fits perfectly!
The X-Men are a group of gifted individuals saving and protecting the innocent in a world that both fears and hates them and while it does seems a bit too on the nose to take inspiration from the Mutants, I can see enough similarities between the two groups to justify this.
Like the Faunus, the Mutants are subject to discrimination, prejudice and even downright hatred from the general public, which is in stark contrast to the superheroes such as the Avengers or Fantastic Four. One of the best examples of this is Kurt Wagner, A.K.A Nightcrawler.
Here is someone who, despite the fact that he looks like a demon, is a good person with a good heart and is a textbook example of how you should never judge a book by its cover.
Also, unlike the Faunus’s single allegory of racism, the Mutants in the Marvel Universe serve as an allegeory for discrimination as a WHOLE.
Other allusions to the Mutants include the factions of the Brotherhood of Mutants and the White Fang.
Like the Brotherhood, the White Fang are a villainous organisation that seek vengeance and superiority over their enemies (humans). This is further represented by both their leaders;
Sienna serves as the perfect allusion to Magneto. They were initially allies to the founders of a peaceful movement; Charles Xavier
and Ghira Belladonna.
However, they shared very different and conflicting ideological viewpoints. Because of this and the harsh discrimination they faced, they ended up becoming the very monsters humanity deemed them as and threatening war against their kind.
I also want this to extend to their legacies; Blake Belladonna and Adam Taurus.
Blake would carry on the ideals of her father and the original White Fang
while Adam slowly succumbs to the darkness and carry on the vengeful movement that Sienna put in place. Unlike Sienna, who would represent the more older, methodical Magneto, Adam would represent the more bloodlust, violent Magneto. Think of it like Ian Mckellen and Michael Fassbender.
All that said, I’m not going to make the Faunus a complete 1:1 of the Mutants. They serve as an influence, but that’s as far as it goes and I do have some of my own ideas, which I will talk about here.
2.) My own ideas
Some things that I would include that weren’t in the show would be the following:
Showing Faunus Discrimination- While we’re definitely told about the discrimination they face, we aren’t actually shown anything else besides a few bullying scenes. How I would change this would be to add some more background scenes which describe humans’ distrust or hatred of the Faunus. My good friends @ironpines suggested to look at various examples of racism that occurred throughout history, which can better flesh this out instead of limiting myself to just one example. I also had an idea of Faunus Trafficking, where they’re forced to do any labour that the humans won’t risk becaus they’re expendable. The work is either menial, or very dangerous and they’re treated harshly.
Adam/Sienna’s Relationship- I would love to explore their dynamic in my fanfics. I always felt that they would have a mother-son relationship, where Sienna would raise him, train him and even court him to become the new High Leader should she ever fail. In her eyes, Adam is her successor, her heir.
The Peaceful White Fang- In canon, we’ve only ever seen the Fang as a terrorist organisation. Going back to the “show, don’t tell” rule, I want to explore the Fang during their peaceful days in some flashbacks, showing us what they originally stood for before their turn by Sienna. This also leads into my next idea.
Sienna’s changing of the White Fang- I always thought that Sienna was the type to go behind Ghira’s back and train the other members in ways of combat. After many failed attempts at peaceful protests, she decides that a more forceful approach. This would be a defining moment for both Adam and Blake.
Adam’s character- We all knew this was coming. One big aspect I would change for him is his relationship with Blake. Instead of a romantic one, I’d have it as best friends. Aside from Sienna, Adam’s closest relationship is with Blake. Along with my OC, Kenji Kageyama, he trained her and looked after her like an older brother. However, as he succumbs to his inner demons, he begins to manipulate Blake to his cause. This would cause strife between the two as she starts to break free from him, culminating when she finally leaves. Like in canon, he’s understandably hurt by this but instead of an angry ex boyfriend, he’s heartbroken because he sees Blake and her family as traitors. Not just to the White Fang, but to all Faunus.
Other Faunus Villains- Aside from Adam, Ilia, the Albain twins and Sienna, I’d like there to be other Faunus villains too, alluding to the Jungle Book, Journey to the West and the Universal Monster movies.
And there you have it, some ideas I have for the Faunus in my fanfics. Also to @ironpines, I’m really not good at analysis. I tried my best and I even had a lot of thoughts on how I would write this but it kinda got a little chaotic and I lost my original train of thought. You guys are much better at this than I am and if you have anything to add or improve this, it’s greatly appreciated.

The Works of Ridley Scott - My Top Ten
So I decided I’d drop another series of big post lumps of spam on you guys by rocking my favourite directors’ works by rating my personal favourites of each, and I figured what better place to start than my absolute number one, so here we go - these are my very favourite films of my absolute cinematic IDOL, the master of British auteur filmmakers. Enjoy ...
10. EXODUS: GODS & KINGS
It takes a really ballsy filmmaker to try and make a big budget live action Ten Commandments movie after Cecil B. DeMille’s monstrous Technicolour epic, but guts is something Scott’s never been lacking in, and the result is one of his most striking offerings of recent years, a meaty revisionist take on the Book of Exodus that jettisons most of the mysticism to concentrate on the gritty human struggle at its heart. It’s the story of two warring brothers and the lengths each is willing to go to in order to achieve their opposing ends, and while Scott typically delivers BIG TIME on the spectacle and immersive world-building, where he really shines is as an actor’s director, here rightly focusing on the deeply complex relationship between Christian Bale’s Moses and Joel Edgerton’s Pharaoh Ramesses II. The end result is a lesser known but no less worthy swords-and-sandals epic than his signature entry to the genre.
9. PROMETHEUS
Like many fans of the Xenomorph saga he helped create, I was excited but also understandably wary of his return to the franchise with a proposed “prequel”, and to be honest as an Alien movie this actually is a bit of a mess, trying a little too hard to apply that connective tissue and ultimately failing more than it succeeds (indeed, as a franchise entry, direct sequel Alien: Covenant is a far more successful effort). Personally, I’ve always preferred to simply consider it as a film in its own right, and as a standalone sci-fi horror thriller this is a CRACKING film, insidious, atmospheric, moody and magnificent in equal measure, Scott weaving a sense of dangerous mystery and palpable dread throughout that grips from enigmatic start to devastating finish. Noomi Rapace is an excellent Ripley-substitute, but the true breakaway star of the film is Michael Fassbender as twisted android sociopath David, just as chilling as the horrors he unleashes on his unsuspecting crewmates.
8. THELMA & LOUISE
To be brutally honest, Ridley’s output in the 1990s was largely unimpressive (White Squall left me cold, while 1492: Conquest of Paradise was technically brilliant but discouragingly slow and disjointed, and I think we can all agree cinema would be better off if GI Jane had never happened), but at least he got the decade off to a strong start with this beautiful, lyrical, heartfelt and undeniably powerful tale of unerring friendship triumphing against fearful odds. It may have been directed by a man, but it was written by a woman (Callie Khouri, creator of TV’s Nashville, who rightly won a Best Original Screenplay Oscar for her astounding work) and is unapologetically told from a woman’s point of view, which is finally becoming an accepted thing in blockbuster filmmaking, but back then it was still a new concept, and you have to applaud Scott for being one of its pioneers. It may be most well known these days for giving Brad Pitt his big break, but the film’s focus is VERY MUCH on Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon as the titular friends, forced to go on the run after an innocent night out goes horribly wrong. After becoming one of THE hot ticket date movies of the 90s, it’s still fondly remembered for its heartfelt message, gentle humour and powerful climax.
7. BLACK RAIN
Probably the closest Ridley ever came to capturing his brother Tony Scott’s more popcorn-friendly brand of super-slick, glossy blockbuster fare was this Japan-set fish-out-of-water cop flick, but he couldn’t help adding a real weight and substance to the final product, and the result is one of my very favourite thrillers of the 80s. Michael Douglas was riding high after his Academy Award win for Wall Street, but his performance as hot-headed maverick NYPD detective Nick Conklin has always been my personal favourite, and he shares strong chemistry with a young Andy Garcia as his wise-cracking partner Charlie Vincent, but the film’s understated secret weapon is heavyweight Japanese character actor Ken Takakura as Masahiro, the stoic, by-the-book Osaka police inspector they’re forced to team up with in order to capture rogue Yakuza underboss Sato (a deliciously feral turn from the Yūsaku Matsuda in his very last screen role before his death just months after the film’s release) and bust an international counterfeiting ring. This is definitely Scott’s glossiest film, but there’s hidden depth behind the neon-drenched visuals, the expertly staged set-pieces perfectly countered by a robust story, precision-crafted character work and bucket-loads of emotional heft (especially surrounding the film’s high point, one of the most devastating character deaths in cinematic history). It may not be held in the high regard of many of his more “sophisticated” films, but in my opinion it’s just as worthy of recognition, and I’ll defend it to the death.
6. THE MARTIAN
Scott’s last truly GREAT film (to date, anyway) is also one of his most effortlessly likeable, a breathless, breezy and thoroughly FUN adaptation of the bestselling debut novel of space-exploration geek Andy Weir. Matt Damon must have been born to play Mark Watney, an astronaut in the third manned mission to Mars who is accidentally left for dead on the surface when the crew are forced to evacuate by a catastrophic dust storm; alone and with no means of escape, Watney must use all his scientific smarts to survive long enough for NASA’s desperate rescue mission to reach him. He’s a thoroughly endearing everyman hero we can’t help rooting for, self-deprecating and oozing sass all day long, and in his company the film’s two-and-a-half hours simply RACE by, while one of Scott’s strongest ever supporting casts (which includes Jessica Chastain, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Sean Bean and a glorious scene-stealing cameo from Donald Glover) once again proves that he really is one of the very best actor’s directors around. Thoroughly ingenious, visually stunning and frequently laugh-out-loud hilarious, this is definitely Scott’s most endearing film to date, about as perfect a popcorn flick as you’re gonna find outside the MCU …
5. KINGDOM OF HEAVEN (Director’s Cut)
Certainly the most maligned film in his oeuvre, this has perhaps the most troubled production history of ALL his works, famously mauled in post as 20th Century Fox rushed to get the still unfinished feature ready enough for its summer 2005 release, the clunky theatrical cut understandably met with mixed reviews and somewhat underperforming at the box office. Thank the gods, then, for Scott’s unerring perfectionism – he couldn’t rest with that lacklustre legacy, so he knuckled down and produced what is, in my opinion, the very best of all his director’s cuts, reinstating an unprecedented FIFTY MINUTES of missing material which doesn’t just flesh out character arcs but frequently creates an entirely new, far richer and MUCH more rewarding overall narrative, and the final feature was met with thoroughly well-deserved critical acclaim. Not only is this one of my favourite Ridley Scott films, it’s one of my very favourite historical epics PERIOD, a magnificently rich, sprawling saga of blood, sex, honour and courtly intrigue as we follow blacksmith-turned-knight Balian (Orlando Bloom in one of his very best roles) on his quest for redemption in the Holy Land at the height of the Third Crusade. This is still one of the director’s most expensive films, and EVERY PENNY is right there on the screen, each scene designed to perfection and dripping in astounding period detail, while the sweeping cinematography is some of the very best in his entire catalogue, and the battle sequences so expansively vast they even put Gladiator’s opening to shame. So, far from being his greatest folly, this was ultimately one of Scott’s greatest triumphs, and I can’t recommend it enough.
4. BLACK HAWK DOWN
In my opinion, this is the absolute PEAK of Scott’s cinematic achievements to date as an action director – almost two-and-a-half hours of relentless blood, bullets, smoke and terror that’s as exhilarating as it is exhausting, as emotionally uplifting as it is harrowing, quite simply the DEFINITIVE portrayal of the bonds of brotherhood forged by men under fire. The film tells the story of the Battle of Mogadishu in 1993, 24 blood-soaked hours in which US military forces were trapped behind enemy lines and besieged on all sides by hostile Somali forces after a botched raid saw two Black Hawk helicopters shot down, precipitating a snowballing military catastrophe and a bitter fight for survival. Certainly the film takes many liberties with the historical accuracy (then again that’s pretty much Hollywood’s standard approach regarding true story war movies), but there’s no denying it perfectly captures the desperate chaos the soldiers must have faced on the day, throwing the viewer headfirst into a dusty, noisy hell and refusing to let him out again. The action sequences are some of the finest I have EVER seen committed to film, but the film has just as much heart as guts, tugging our heartstrings and jerking plenty of tears because we really come to care about these boys and what happens to them. Intense, rousing, explosive, provocative – definitely the action highlight of Scott’s oeuvre.
3. ALIEN
It may have some decidedly humble beginnings, but the opening chapter in the other jewel in 20th Century Fox’s sci-fi franchise crown is now considered to be THE greatest science fiction horror film of all time, and rightly so – it’s a textbook example of a flawlessly-executed high-concept “haunted house in space” flick, a master-class in slow-building atmospherics, sustained tension and some truly hair-raising shocks that are as fresh and effective today as they were back in 1979. Not bad for something that started out as a pulpy B-picture script from Dan O’Bannon (co-writer and star of John Carpenter’s cult feature debut and one-time student film Dark Star). The cast is stellar (ahem), dominated OF COURSE by then pretty much unknown young upstart Sigourney Weaver in what REMAINS the greatest role of her decidedly impressive career, but the true star of the film is the creature itself, the late H.R. Giger’s twisted, primal design teased with consummate skill to maximise the stealthy effectiveness of what has become the definitive extraterrestrial nightmare fuel of sci-fi cinema. Ultimately I’m more of an Aliens fan myself, but I don’t deny that this is a MASTERPIECE of the genre, and I f£$%ing LOVE IT.
2. GLADIATOR
It may have been usurped by Kingdom of Heaven as Scott’s most ambitious film, but his first dabble in swords-and-sandals cinema remains the best of his historical epics, and at the time proved to be a MASSIVE shot in the arm for what had long become a flagging, largely forgotten genre, spawning a veritable LEGION of bandwagon-jumping followers. Needless to say, NOBODY does this better than Scott, who brought the opulent excess of ancient Rome and its vast empire to vivid life in all its bloodthirsty, duplicitous detail, from the back-stabbing intrigues of the Senate to the life-and-death drama of the Coliseum. The script is rich and heady stuff (penned as it is by former playwright John Logan), exquisitely performed by a premium-cut cast (particularly impressive was the late Oliver Reed in his very last screen role) and bolstered by some of the most impressive battle scenes ever committed to film, but the true driving force of the film is the ferocious antagonism between the hero and villain, Russell Crowe and Joaquin Phoenix both making the transition from rising-stars to genuine A-listers with major box office clout thanks to their truly electrifying performances. After his relative creative slump in the 90s, Scott’s first offering of the new Millennium proved the start of a major renaissance in his work, and thankfully it’s shown no sign of flagging since …
1. BLADE RUNNER
Not only is this my favourite film by my favourite director, but also what, if I was REALLY PRESSED, I would have to call my very favourite movie EVER. I’m gonna be waxing most lyrical about this in great detail when I drop my big-screen sci-fi Top Ten on here, so I don’t want to talk about it TOO MUCH here … suffice to say this has been a dominant fixture in my favourites since my early adolescence, when I first stumbled across it on TV one Saturday night, and even though it was the theatrical cut with its clunky voice-over and that ridiculous tacked-on happy ending, I was instantly captured by its searing visionary brilliance and dark, brutally nihilistic power, so when Scott finally released his first Director’s Cut I was already DEEPLY in love with this film. Sure, being a Star Wars fan, Harrison Ford will ALWAYS be Han Solo for me (along with Indiana Jones, of course), but my personal favourite role of his career is Rick Deckard, the sleazy, downtrodden and world-weary android-hunting gumshoe stumbling through his most deadly case in the mean streets of rain-lashed cyberpunk megalopolis Los Angeles circa 2019, while Rutger Hauer effortlessly steals the film as his mercurial nemesis, live-fast-die-young Nexus 6 Roy Batty. This is still THE MOST BEAUTIFUL FILM I HAVE EVER SEEN, the visual effects work still standing up perfectly today, the exquisite design work and peerless atmospheric cinematography rightly going on to inform and influence an entire genre of science-fiction both on the big screen and off, and I cannot recommend it enough to anyone who hasn’t already seen it. Deliciously dark, fiendishly intelligent and heart-rending in its stubborn refusal to deliver easy answers or present us with a cathartic HAPPY ending (no matter what the theatrical cut might want you to think), this really is as good as cinema gets.
There you have it, my top movies from the man I personally consider to be the greatest filmmaker around tody, and here’s hoping we’re gonna see a lot more from him yet ... Sir Ridley Scott, knight of the f£$%ing realm ...

Name ten favourite characters from ten different things (books, tv, film, etc.) then tag ten people
This was extremely difficult to do. The first two were easy, since they are my ride or die, but choosing 10 different characters? From ten different things? I don’t know if I even like 10 different things, but I found some loopholes, lol.

1. Lara Croft - Tomb Raider
Lara Croft has been one of my idols since I was a small child. My mom had bought Tomb Raider: Starring Lara Croft and Tomb Raider: Adventures of Lara Croft for my sister on the PlayStation. I remember watching my sister play it, and then sometimes I was allowed to play it. I continued the Tomb Raider legacy throughout the years.
Lara Croft is just. Amazing. I love every version of her. Classic Lara deflected the life her parents had wanted her to have, and paid the price for it. Did that stop her? No, it did not! She was able to make her own mark in the world. LAU!Lara wanted to find out what happened to her mother, and honestly I love Keeley Hawes as Lara. She was witty and funny, and Legend is one of my favorite TR games. And Reboot!Lara? I love her. I honestly don’t care what people say, Reboot!Lara is great! Her first game is also fun to play. Each version of Lara Croft offers something different, and I love it. While many of Lara’s core values are in each incarnation (adventurous, ambitious, brave, etc.), each brings a new perspective which I enjoy!
Fun fact: my irl best friend and Lara share the same zodiac sign!
2. Wanda Maximoff (Scarlet Witch) - Marvel
I LOVE WANDA MAXIMOFF WITH ALL MY HEART!!! She’s a huge comfort character for me. She’s one of the most powerful mutants (yes, I am ignoring the retcon), and she’s complex. Wanda first appeared in X-Men #4 alongside her brother, Pietro, as members of Magneto’s Brotherhood. Eventually, the twins become heroes and join the Avengers.
Wanda’s mutation is magic; probability, to put it at best. She can warp reality. While she is strong, she is also human. Many remember her best as having a mental breakdown and creates House of M (influenced by her beloved brother). After this, she goes off the radar for a few years before her reincarnated sons find her.
I love Wanda because she has heart, courage, and cares for others. She’s intuitive and sensitive and, in many ways, reminds me of myself. I genuinely love Wanda with all my heart. She remains to be my number one favorite superhero. I wish more people knew her--the real her. The MCU does not do her (or her brother) justice. At all. (At least AOU kind of got their “reluctant villains to heroes” origin story well enough?)
Also: fuck you Marvel for retconning Magneto as the Maximoffs’ father. It’s been 5 years but I still elect to ignore that.
3. Phoebe Halliwell - Charmed
Growing up, Charmed was one of my favorite TV shows. To sum it up, it’s about a group of sisters who discover that they’re witches. Specifically, they’re the Charmed Ones and they protect the innocent. For awhile, I’ve said that Piper is my favorite sister but after my last rewatch, I say that Phoebe is my favorite.
At the beginning of the series, Phoebe was the youngest and the rebel of the family. Before the pilot, Phoebe was living in New York but we see her move back in. We also see that she has a strained relationship with her eldest sister, Prue, due to her scummy fiancé. Phoebe is also the reason why their magic was unlocked. (As children, their powers were bounded in order to keep them safe.)
Over time, we see Phoebe mature more. However, there are a few things that never changes with Phoebe. She’s kind and caring for others, always wanting to help them no matter what. (She shares this trait with the youngest sister, Paige.) She is deeply connected with her emotions (which causes her to gain the power of empathy in season 6). Phoebe has also had rough luck with love (see: Cole the demon, etc.) but no matter how much she gets hurt, Phoebe still has hope. She still has love in her heart. No matter how much she gets knocked down, she finds a way of getting back up, and I admire her a lot for it.
4. Catelyn Stark - A Song of Ice and Fire
Family. Duty. Honor. This is House Tully’s family motto, which is deeply embedded into Catelyn. Catelyn was married to Ned Stark during Robert’s Rebellion, after her former betrothed was murdered in King’s Landing (who, ironically, was Ned’s older brother). Their wedding night resulted in the birth of their firstborn: Robb Stark, heir to Winterfell and King in the North.
Catelyn Stark is the mother of the wolves, and her love for her family is no doubt a core of her character. However, Catelyn is clever and if you mess with her, you will certainly gain her wrath. Her eldest values her for her wisdom, and will turn to her for help. She will do anything for her family, such as freeing Jaime Lannister to get her girls back, or offering herself to save her eldest during the horrific events of the Red Wedding.
Catelyn is murdered, along with majority of the Stark party, at the Red Wedding. However, she is resurrected and becomes Lady Stoneheart. Stoneheart is out for vengeance, because she believes all of her children are gone; taken by the enemy. Stoneheart murders Frey or Lannister alike--whoever is associated with them. She holds no mercy.
There is so much more to Catelyn that I could go on, but I will stop here. (Besides, I need to reread the books again!) I will say this: fuck you, D&D.
5. Erik Lehnsherr (Magneto) - Marvel
MAGNETO TIME? MAGNETO TIME.
Erik Lehnsherr was a young boy when World War II happened and because he was Jewish, he was sent to Auschwitz. His family did not survive, but Erik did. Depending on what you follow on, Erik either A) escaped with Magda (who is the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver’s mother) and started a life with her or B) he hunted down the men who worked for Sebastian Shaw (movie universe).
Anyway, Erik had been a mutant since around the time he was sent to the camps and after the horror and trauma he’s faced, Erik decided that mutants would never be accepted by “their less evolved kin”. So, he became Magneto, a protector for mutants and enemy for humans.
Magneto is only one side of the coin, however. Charles Xavier is a longtime frenemy of sorts, both having different perspectives in life. Xavier believes in coexistence, but Magneto believes otherwise. He had seen what humanity is capable of, and he never wants that to happen again. If he must be a villain, than so be it.
Magneto is beautifully complex. He has done some questionable things (I’m thinking of the comics for this one), but he has also done great things for his people. “Never again,” he says. He fights to keep it that way. Magneto is sympathetic at best, and I certainly understand where he comes from. Tell me this: if you were Magneto, what would you have done?
Also: while Michael Fassbender is not Jewish in any way, he did one hell of a job portraying this amazing character.
6. Kira Yukimura - Teen Wolf
I wasn’t planning on adding Teen Wolf to the list, but here I am.
Kira was introduced to us in season 3b, written as a “new love interest” for Scott McCall. I remember a lot of fans of a certain ship were pissed, but whatever. I’m not here to talk about romance.
So, in 3b Kira was a new student, with her dad as the new history teacher at Beacon Hills High School. She’s of both Korean and Japanese descent, and she ends up playing an important role in the story arc. We find out that she’s a Kitsune, thanks to her mother who explains how a Kitsune and a werewolf must come together to defeat the Nogitsune, who happens to be possessing the loveable Stiles Stilinski.
After this, Kira becomes a part of the McCall Pack and Scott’s girlfriend. In my opinion, they’re cute together but many people hate them together. Oh well. Kira also becomes a badass in her own right, as her abilities evolve. However, in season 5, the creators put her on the shelf, as she trains with Skinwalkers and is never seen again. I am so fucking MAD about that.
Like many characters on this list, Kira has heart and courage. She’s a bit of an introvert but she is loyal, and cares for her pack. She’s cute and a bit goofy. She is skilled and deadly. Kira is one of the coolest characters Teen Wolf had, and the way they treated her was disappointed. (Even though after her death, Allison was always mentioned/connected in some way. I like Allison, don’t get me wrong but all I can say is: interesting...)
Fun fact: Arden Cho, the actress, is the VA for Sam Nishimura in Tomb Raider (2013)!
7. Lois Wilkerson - Malcolm in the Middle
The mother of four boys, the matriarch of the Wilkerson household is not one to push around.
Lois has had a rather rough life. Her parents were not the best, and everyone tries to push her down. However, Lois fights back and is not afraid to stand up for what is right. Francis, her oldest, describes her as an absolute menace and while her sons and husband fear her, they also admire her for her strength and courage. Lois is tough as nails, but she can also break, too. However, her family--the family she and Hal created, no one else--is there for her. Lois is incredibly strong willed no matter what, and I love her so much.
8. Theon Greyjoy - A Song of Ice and Fire
No words can describe on how much I love this fashionable war criminal.
Before the start of the series, Theon is a hostage/ward of Lord Stark, as a result of his father’s failed rebellion. Theon was a reminder that if Balon Greyjoy pulled something again, his last (male) heir would get the chopping block. Pretty brutal for a young child, right?
Now, at the start of the series, Theon is nineteen and is seemingly best friends with Robb Stark, the heir to Winterfell and the North. He shows loyalty to Robb and the Starks, claiming that Lord Stark was like a father to him. He’s also skilled with archery and, like I mentioned earlier, fashion.
Then A Clash of Kings occur, and we began to see how Theon Greyjoy is.
Robb Stark has been proclaimed as King of the North, and sends Theon to the Iron Islands in hopes to gain allies with Balon Greyjoy. However, this does not occur. Old Greyjoy says “fuck that and if you’re [Theon] aren’t with us, then you‘re against us.” We see Theon conflicted, but we also see how strained his relationship with his father is. In the end, Theon joins the Greyjoys, and promptly sacks Winterfell. However, that is not the end. Theon is tricked by Ramsay Bolton and this vile man takes Winterfell. I believe while he took the women and children captive, the men were killed...save for Theon, of course.
Theon is held captive by Ramsay Bolton, and is tortured quite brutally. Theon goes through a lot in this time. His appearance had changed drastically: black hair turned white and brittle, he becomes skin and bones, and loses a few fingers and toes. Theon is no longer Theon. He became Reek. The new Reek.
Then, Jeyne Poole (or Sansa; I hate you D&D) arrives, under the guise that she is Arya Stark and she is to wed Ramsay Bolton. Jeyne begged Theon to help her, but he is in no position of power. He is a completely broken man. Time flies by. Jeyne is in absolute misery but with the help of Mance and some spearwives, Theon is able to escape Winterfell with Jeyne during a winter storm. Currently, in the books, Theon is set to be executed by Stannis Baratheon, who is currently holding him captive.
Theon Greyjoy may be a fuckup, but to me he is such an amazing character. He holds much conflict, from being a hostage/ward to Prince to prisoner. Theon Greyjoy may have done a lot of shit, but he is also a survivor. Everything he has been put through, he somehow lives to see another day. Despite holding negative feelings to Lord Stark and everyone around, claiming he owed no one anything (fair enough), he loved Robb. When Theon had found out he was murdered at the Red Wedding, you know what he thought?
I should have been with him. Where was I? I should have died with him.
Theon is far from perfect, but that is what makes him great. He has come so far, and I hope his journey does not end any time soon.
9. Suki - Avatar: The Last Airbender
Zuko may have the best redemption arc (or does he? See above.), but Suki holds a special place in my heart.
We first meet Suki season one, on Kyoshi Island. She is the leader of the Kyoshi Warriors, and effectively puts Sokka in his place. However, when Sokka requests a few lessons, Suki is happy to help...as long as he followed the guidelines.
Suki is a certified badass. Although a non-bender, Suki has incredible skill and event went against Azula. However, Suki and the others surrendered (so that Appa would not be captured), leading to her imprisonment at Boiling Rock. Eventually, Sokka and Zuko free her (with the help of Mai). After this, Suki joined the Gaang in ceasing the 100 Year War.
Suki is strong but like many other characters in this list, she has heart. She is an effective leader and fighter, offering her help whenever she can. Too bad she was never mentioned in The Legend of Korra. Suki is underrated and she deserves more love and respect.
10. Max Mayfield - Stranger Things
We first meet Max in season 2 as the new girl in Hawkins. She seems like your average girl but she quickly gets tied into the party after Lucas begs her to show her what has happened with him and the rest of the party. However, there’s a lot more to Max.
Max moved to Hawkins with her mother, stepfather, and stepbrother. It’s easy to see that Max and Billy, her stepbrother, do not get along. Billy is outright mean to her, lashing out at practically every chance he gets. Max fights back, however...especially when he threatens her friends.
In season 3, we finally get to see Max and El bond. (Thank God we didn’t have to put up with the “jealousy” tidbit. I would have--) El believes that Mike is lying and Max is like, “Well yeah. Come on let’s go to the mall!” and the girls have a blast together. I was so happy to see the two bond and have fun. I was so happy that El was spending time with someone other than Mike. I was so happy the girls were having fun by themselves. Honestly, the best part of season 3 was them becoming friends.
I love Max because she is confident and is not afraid to speak her mind. Shes funny and in many ways, we are alike. (Especially with our attitudes on boys and relationships.) However, Max is also vulnerable. We see this with her stepbrother, especially in season 3 I think. Their relationship was drastically different in season 3 and while many didn’t like it (myself included)...I also thought about Max. She’s a young girl and no matter how much bad blood was in between them, it will be traumatizing to see a transformation like this to someone you know quite well. It would be scary.
Anyway, I love Max.
Honorable mentions: Kitty Pryde (Shadowcat), Ororo Munroe (Storm), Jean Grey (Phoenix), Anna Marie (Rogue), Sam Nishimura, Malia Tate, all of House Martell, Dustin Henderson...
Thanks for reading! I hope you all enjoyed reading this. Tell me, do I have a certain type of character that I’m attracted to? Also, I’m not sure who has all done this, so if you haven’t it: who are your top 10 favorite characters? Let me know!

03. BIOGRAPHY
Javier Silva Leal was the firstborn in his family, and as such, things would always be different for him than they were for the two siblings that followed after him. It shouldn’t have mattered that much that he was the first and the he was a boy, but somehow it did, as if only he could be the sole heir to carry out his family’s legacy like in older times. Right from infancy his parents expected so much of him and the concepts of being well behaved, responsible and accomplished became close friends of his. Mom and dad’s word was law, and it was easy to order him around, to tell him what he had to do and how to do it. Little Javier was uncomplicated at that age and he always complied, content to see his parents smile and be proud of him when he did things right.
As he grew older he noticed his parents were never as strict or demanding towards Ricardo and even less with Naty, the youngest one. No, it was Javier the one who had to maintain his excellent grades. It was Javier the one who had to stay in the track team because he was so good at running, and he would surely win another medal in the upcoming competition. It was Javier the one who had to stay in piano lessons because how would he quit after all the years he’d already invested in that? It was Javier who had to stay in English and French classes because he was naturally talented with languages, and his mother said one day it would surely come in handy to know those languages. It was up to Javier to be the perfect son.
It was suffocating, even though there was no malice in his parents’ pressure and expectations. More than a son, at times it felt like he was a possession to parade around and to brag about. But he had a house, a family that cared for him, the benefit of a good education and everything he could want. Guilt often ate at him for having the audacity to claim it all forfeit only for some abstract notion he had of not truly having a life. Javier never talked about it with anyone except with his brother, who on the other hand had grown up overshadowed by his older brother up on his high pedestal. The two brothers never resented each other for their circumstances, if anything the found comfort and understanding in one another. Ricardo often told him that Javier had two faces: the one he showed to the whole world which had been crafted with the help of their parents, and the other one was the real Javier, the one only Ricardo knew.
When the time to enter university came he took the opportunity to study abroad and left Mexico to attend Columbia University, enrolling in their writing program. It took a while to convince his parents that writing could be a serious career path and they were finally swayed, in only by the trust that their son’s work could one day join the rich legacy of Mexican authors that shaped their country’s literature, like Juan Rulfo or Carlos Fuentes did. So even his love for writing began to be measured by more grand expectations.
After graduating he wasn’t ready to go back to his country, so he was quick to look for graduate programs and found a perfect fit in Turing Academy. His grades and extracurriculars gained him acceptance into the prestigious academy right away and Javier left New York for Boston two years ago. He’s enjoyed his time at Turing and has even made a few friends, though he has a way of staying on the surface without others really noticing he’s showing only that one face his brother spoke about, not the true one, because of course, they don’t know that side of him exists at all.
As of late, Javier has been questioning if pursuing writing is something he truly wants for him or if it’s something that he’s only continued doing because of his parents. At least he has been able to keep those doubts at the back of his mind whenever he is inside The Grid. In that virtual reality there are no expectations to meet, not pressure to do or be anything other than what he wants to be. There he feels like he is truly himself. He feels at home.
04. FAMILY
Marco Antonio Silva: Father
Carolina Silva (née Leal): Mother
Ricardo Silva: Younger brother
Natalia Silva: Younger sister
05. CONNECTIONS
The Leader: Friend
The Hacker: At odds with
The Gregarious: Becoming friends
06. AVATAR
AVATAR’S FACECLAIM: Michael Fassbender (Aguilar de Nerha) SPECIAL SKILLS/POWERS: Intangibility, Enhanced agility & Alchemic combat (he is able to transform matter around him for combat purposes, creating obstacles for his opponents or even weapons for himself). WEAKNESSES/LIMITATIONS: His intangibility does not work by default, he has to be focused for that skill to work, so if he gets attacked by surprise and is not in his intangible state, he will be harmed. Also, his intangibility is rendered useless when he loses a life, he must have all 3 of his lives to be able to use that skill. His alchemic combat skill is ruled by balance: he can only use the matter that is at his disposal (and it must be solid or liquid, he cannot transform air or sheer energy into solids).
JAVIER SILVA is portrayed by Diego Boneta and he is currently TAKEN.

James McAvoy - Codigo Uno interview*
We would like to thank @gofckapineapple on twitter for providing the translation of James’ interview to Spanish magazine Codigo Uno.
Be sure to thank her if you're on twitter and share it!
Original article - Codigo Uno
Translation : @gofckapineapple
JAMES MCAVOY: "ACTORS ARE EITHER VIRTUOSOS OR FUCKING IDIOTS"
- He is the new fetish actor of Wim Wenders. Without mincing words, James McAvoy speaks with equal frankness of terrorism or classism that reigns in British cinema. Oh, and in his last film he lives an intense romance with Alicia Vikander. - James McAvoy is an actor dedicated to his characters and his nomadic lifestyle. It is also pure authenticity and is not afraid to speak openly. Not long ago he said that the dominance of posh actors in the UK "is damaging society" This 38-year-old Scotsman is peppered with that debate because he is the complete opposite: he had to pay for his career at the drama school working in a bakery. - In his latest film, Submergence, McAvoy travels to the depths of his emotions. The film represents the romantic idea of surrendering to the maximum and, in doing so, alter everything that surrounds us, with jihadism as a fundamental theme. It is the last and most beautiful story of Wim Wenders, and in it McAvoy and Alicia Vikander, co-star of the film, confirm themselves as two of the most erotic Hollywood actors. - Separated from Anne-Marie Duff, who was his wife for a decade, McAvoy now lives between Los Angeles and the UK with his new girlfriend. "Codigo Uno" had the opportunity to speak with the interpreter in Toronto.
Submergence had to be a terrible physical experience ... - Horrible, I had a terrible time because I had to lose a lot of weight between the middle of the movie and the end, and I'm not a man who was overweight. During the filming in Normandy I tried to win some weight to make a difference and to make it more obvious that I had lost weight. In the past I've shot movies where I also had to lose weight, like Trance , with Dany Boyle, and it hit me because I discovered that it's not something that I enjoy. In this film, as I already knew it would irritate me, I tried to enjoy my time in Normandy with Alicia and then we went together to Spain.
You mean you were angry during filming? - Yes. Not being able to eat properly irritates me, it surpasses me because I'm tired all the time, without energy. I think that when I watch the movie, I can identify the moments when I feel uncomfortable. Not only on screen, also when we stopped shooting was uncomfortable. When the filming ended, I dedicated to eat without stopping. The whole experience was awful. I don't feel ready to gain and lose weight.
You were able to relax and enjoy at some point? - Yes, of course. By nature, I'm not a nerve-wracking person. And, to be honest, the shooting in Spain was sensational.
How was the filming with Wim Wenders? - Sensational. I had to let myself be guided by his vision, which seemed articulate and very intelligent. This is a philosophical film, intentionally romantic, sensual. It is the story of a couple of scientists who fall in love. Their conversations, for moments, are academic, they do not fall in love with a smile, but of their intelligence. We were all in Normandy exploring the characters, rehearsing before shooting. Wim is a wonderful guy.
You are very close friends with Michael Fassbender, and you knew Alicia because she is his fiancee. Is not it rare to share intimate scenes with the fiancee of one your best friends? - No, I don't think so. I was married for nine years and filmed many romantic scenes at that time. In this profession we have to make many sequences of love with other people, it's part of the work. Anyway, it wasn't weird for me, maybe for her, but I hope not. I tried not to make her feel strange while filming with me.
You said that this character looks like you. What did you meant in particular? - Let's say I did not feel like playing a role, that character could have been me if my lifestyle had been different and if i would have chosen that kind of job. Of course, he is not like me, he has lived experiences that I will never be able to live. However, inside, he is much more like me than any of the other characters I have ever played in my career.
Do you consider yourself an adventurer, a being able to get to the depths of your being by someone else? - Until a certain point. I once said that I wanted to be a missionary and that interview was chasing me for years. I don't want to repeat the experience [laughs]. When my son was born I was talking to many nurses who had been in Africa and I found that their work, saving lives, was wonderful. That is what I meant. As for being adventurous, the actor profession fits the profile because we spend our time traveling. That amuses me, to live here and there, to work from one side to another of the planet, to know cultures. When I started at 17 I had no idea that I could end up where I am now. I got into drama school in Glasgow and I did not leave there for 3 years, but, in doing so, I became an adventurer because in that place I could build dreams and travel with my imagination. I realized that my life as an actor was going to allow me to experience adventures regardless of a location.
Do you enjoy the emotional load of an actor's life? - Of course. We are always on the brink of failure, always judged severely; or you're a virtuoso or a fucking idiot, with no space between those two concepts. For me, all that is exciting.
When you film in exotic places, do you have time to explore? - No. When I go to work, I work, I don't go on vacation. I will take some holidays now, since I have two months free. I have to force myself to move from my state of permanent curiosity to one of relaxation that allows me to enjoy my vacations. It costs me more to be doing nothing than working.
Submergence was not a pleasant shoot. Why did you choose to do it? - For the romance, for the love story of the protagonists, for the deep connection that exists between them. It's always fun to explore feelings when you connect with someone, it really is interesting to represent those emotions. I find it more human, being beaten in a movie than to hit, and that also caught my attention in this narration, the physical test of the character.
What is your opinion on the terrorism that strikes Europe? - I don't understand it, that's the only opinion I have. After shooting this movie, even less. If there is one thing that surprises me, it's the possibility that there may be someone who can think of the terms of my character, James. He wants to change the world, but because he can't do it alone, he integrates into an organization. First in the army, and then in this spy organization that helps him carry out his plans. All the protagonists in the film try to change the world in their own way. That is the beauty of history, how important it is that we all do our part. War films have shown us that there are many perspectives on the same story. However, we all want the same, that wars no longer exist. In this case we are living a strange war because we don't understand the enemy.
For a while, after the Atonement premiere, you became a star for the teen audience. However, your latest films seem to want to break with that image. - I am aware that there is this group of fans because I get a huge number of letters from South Korea, more than anywhere. I'm not very aware of who follows me or who watches my movies. I do not consider myself a strategic actor, I have never been an engineer of my legacy. I did not do it at first and I will not start doing it now. All I do is read the script, if I like it and if I think it's going to be a challenge, then I will do the movie. I feel like I am responding to stories that will awaken the audience.
You have criticized that there are no opportunities for working-class actors in the UK. - When we speak of this we must be clear. There are posh actors who have been in boarding schools that now feel cornered. Nobody has anything against a posh actor who is doing well. We live in a scary world, as soon as a small group dominates the creation of the arts and becomes a representation of a society that is not for everyone but for a few, the damage is irreparable. In five or ten years we will see how it affects us.
You emerge as a new sex symbol for your generation. - I don't think so. To be honest, I don't know if someone considers me an erotic symbol because it does not cross my mind. I don't get up in the morning thinking, "How sexy I am today." And, by the way, I still have not met anyone who treats me like I'm a sex symbol, so I can not feel one. I'm not convinced by the title.
Are you still taking care of yourself physically, for the pleasure of staying in shape? - I haven't been back to the gym since I finished the movie. I've been to the sauna a couple of times in eleven months. I'm quite lazy and I don't like exercising.
Who were the heroes of your adolescence? - I was a sophisticated twelve-year-old boy fascinated with James Bond and the spies. I suppose I let myself be influenced by Sean Connery, an illustrious Scotsman.
