something about the show treating percy's use as only being to serve vex's joy kinda fucking hurts. like vex is distraught, she was in the stream and she was here, that's true. but they are framing this as if it's a romantic loss only and it's making me lose my mind. people don't lose their use to others when they enter a relationship. they don't just become somebody's partner. they're still a person. percy was a full person and vox machina is a family and everyone loved him. that was the point of tearing ripley apart in the original glintshore fight, they were nothing but pure rage because they just watched somebody they love die and at the end of the day, past the monsters and world ending threats everything is about their love with each other, as a group; platonic, familial, romantic, but love as a FAMILY. that is critical to understand. they are who they are because they all love each other, they love each other to the ends of the earth. and the show just. doesn't acknowledge that. percy died so vex could feel sad and that's it. truly what even is the point if nobody else cares. the death doesn't matter if nobody else cares. so percy's death doesn't matter.

Character Design rant

It pisses me off seeing how much people judge whether an artist is good or not based on how much like a department store model a character looks. Like they do not even want a distinctive look they just want them to exist within extremely limited modes of conventional attractiveness like an instagram filter. Who cares that character designs are meant to convey a visual and narrative purpose or give the character a distinctive look, am I right…..

Why should daken have his actual design (mohawk short-to-average height heavy brow) that made him stand out when he could just look like the generic general shang from mulan way that some people want every single hot asian guy to look like (which ijbol please look inside your hearts and examine why thats how you always want them to look, It’s giving 2014 tumblr only knowing 1 asian actor and fancasting him for everything)

its true that there is a serious issue of artists not knowing how to draw asian features but the way some people quantify looking ‘actually biracial’ is so fucking weird!!!!! It circles back to like…feeling racist af (I say this as an asian), like i get it i want ethnic features to be like depicted properly and they havent always been with him, but like he has an actual visually interesting design with actual thought put into it!! Which is done best imo by Camuncoli (I’ll die on this hill I hate how fucking rude and bad faith people are about his art based on panels that are deliberately exaggerated rictus grins, like his style is not for everyone but he understands his face and clearly depicts him as chiseled handsome and as asian vs other artists who clearly dont intend for him to be read as handsome) and checchetto. Like this character specifically is not the hill to die on To Me. He was conceptualised as a metro guy who contrasts his father in appearance and personality. Please don’t tell me that the reason some people prefer the roided out ultra masc (and ooc but thats not relevant to my rant) Krakoa version of him purely bc they want to do the corny try-hard 00s after school special subvert stereotype of asian men as small and effeminate (which mind-you, daken is not and has never been short or small hes just a low end of average height and average muscular build) by going in the opposite direction thing… (in my most charitable reading of this decision, the x factor artist chose to make him look like that to contrast him against prodigy, or to match the roided out hypermasc style hes drawn with by some artists in his early comic appearances and the later parts of Daken:Dark Wolverine, in that case I’ll accept it, but i really don’t know).

Cause as late as All New Wolverine he still had a design that seemed congruous with the initial vision of his character look. Like different artists will have different takes, but it is weird to see the 180 from Krakoa onwards! like they’re just giving up on actually putting the same effort into making a distinctive design for him that preserves his facial design elements while more effectively communicating that he is mixed asian, and instead just putting all their effort into making him Look Asian (whatever the hell that means!). It’s to the point that people discovering him from newer comics have kneejerk reactions to how he looks in early comics or in Hellverine where they’ve returned to his original look! Deeply Deeply Weird!!!!!

#daken #truly every aspect is focus-tested about him now which is insane to think considering how dark he was at first #I know everyone is choosing to call him Akihiro and i respect it. but for me1) it has no identity AT ALL 2)its handled so clumsily in comic #im pulling my asian card rn bc marjorie liu the one actual asian who thoughtfully wrote his racial identity and codified him #showed his going by daken and not akihiro regardless of how bad it sounds is part of his identity+provocative/offputting personality #and its later white writers who have no idea wtf thjeyre doing the most unconvincing actuallyyyy i love myself now ill stop #like i agree the name needed to change. but idk i will contoinue to not acknowledge these stupid fuck ass recent comics #that thing is not my guy!#if the hellverine label sticks and something resemnbling the character i first was compelled by ever returns #and he gets an actual last name. then ill change my tags for him #but for now. everything feels stupid asf. i also dont want to be a downer on a tag used more by people who like the newer interpretation #text #was trying to hold back my rants for my own sake to not have rants on my blog that meant for my enjoyment #and this is only 0.0001% of my beefs and rage with this character’s direction (or shall we say lack of it)#but i am going truly crazy #how is this predatory bisexual farcry villain patrick bateman character being featured for sanitised disney pride specials ijbolllll

I wonder if the writing team was different between season 3, 4 and 5. each season has a different feel and it's really off-putting

#season 3 felt awkward entirely and I really disliked it #4 was like returning to the roots but they were trying to add more depth?#and 5 is such an enigma #like okay there's only two episodes and there'll only be two more #but they have odd vibes #the episodes aren't bad at all. I don't dislike them #but they're not memorable?#things happen in them but it feels like nothing happened at all #it's a whole load of Nothing #it feels so oddly slow and empty and I have no idea how to place that feeling #it's as if all the characters are speaking more slowly too?#the jokes aren't as cringe but none of them really land #the entire episode feels slow yet is over before anything even occurs #like something is MISSING and I can't be the only person to feel that way????#this second episode was better #David got a New Trait™ which I love.... and it will never be explored because the show is overrrr #I wonder who M and J are? a mystery that shall never be solved?#rave ramblees #camp camp #it's like the conflict is miniscule. the solution is brushed over. and nothing wacky happens #I think that's it #it's missing the wild energy and wackiness

Recent ones of these even though they all look the same lol.. forcing myself to document progress..

#I can average like 2500 words a day for a while and then something gets in the way and I don't write for a week or something #which then sort of erases my previous Doing Good At Keeping Up With It lol.. but... alas #Still moving slowly forward...#There's a 'community board' place in game where you can go to look at a few things and some of whats there is little 'odd jobs' the player #can do for a little extra coin (since you can buy items in the game/might need coin).#Thhough of course since it's just interactive fiction/visual novel it's not like... actual minigames or something. Just like..#mini stories of your character going places and doing stuff and having some interactions with the other places in the world #Like for example since modern refrigerators don't exist in this world one of the odd jobs you can do is help with doing ice deliveries #or there's one odd job where you assist a guy recharging the city's main bell tower/time keeping place by helping him go around and replace #the iriminel crystals (kind of like magical batteries - stones that are able to store energy that way and be used to fuel passive #enchantments). or one where you help food prep for the cooks at a nearby automat. etc. etc.#Just little short things to get a better glimpse of how the wider city is outside of just interacting with the main characters. plus earn #a tiny bit of coin. Though because they're so short there's not really branching paths or anything much for choices beyond #usually an optional dialogye menu where you can talk to the person you're working with and ask them personal #or work related questions if inclined to do so. It'd be cool if they were more in depth but.......erugh...#I have so much writing left to do already lol.. Also since it's really just to get money I could have just had them #all be like a single sentence of 'you go here and you do this all day then you come home. + 15 coins. yaay' and thats all #So maybe it's a middle ground to elaborate upon them at all. Just enough extra details to maybe be a little interesting #like ''ooh my character is in a little cart riding through the misty morning forest on their way to deliver ice'' . but also not so much #that it takes away time from like... the literal actual main game lol #ANYWAY. That's what all these are. There are like 10 optional little world exploring/job things you can do. and each I guess seem to be #about 2.500 words ish. That's including the optional chatting menus though. but still. reasonable for a little side thing I guess.#I got finished with one character's quests and stuff so I decided to take a break to work on some of the other little things like the Odd #Jobs and the 8 characters you can find around the world to have short conversations with that aren't actual main characters either. etc.#Then I shall return back to the Main Actual Things. ... augh...... still so much to do...#Which I could also just cut everything extra out but... idk.. since it's mostly all text I feel the need to give more options to flesh out #the actual setting somehow. Since in a 3D game you can walk around and explore the world and stuff. And of course there #are pictures. but it would take me infinitely longer to do detailed art of so much of the entire city youre in or etc. So i guess my versio #of still having some amount of ''exploration'' is just.. set up optional paths where more of the world can at least be Described.#You can't actually walk through a 3d orchard. or an elaborate bell tower. or an elven shrine. But you can Read About being in them LOL

operation "how much estrogen leeway do we have" has commenced and it's only been 2 days but i'm so frustrated my muscles are still acting like they've been through a marathon

#the past month has been trash and i've spent sooo many work days at home already this year #operation estrogen might fail which would leave us in an interesting place bc idk what the fuck he's gonna try next #except for a more radical surgery #which like. i'm down but endo seems to never get properly treated on surgery alone #though i guess mine might be if they surgically remove everything necessary to get rid of my periods #i'm just like #so frustrated by the way this takes time #and my endo is still like. comparatively not bad. and i've not struggled with it that long #relatively speaking #hiding from work helps a tad until i then have to return to work after an absence #i feel guilty about not being at work but i also just really want to have arms that don't feel like lead #i want to have energy for one after work activity once in a while #and like. my doctor is determined to get me there #they all keep telling me that it is important that i'm good and not just surviving #i'm just really tired #and i have to speak to the counselor tomorrow which #is good and mature but i truly don't fucking want to #i have fridays off to 'get more rest' but like #i do one thing on the weekend and it knocks me the fuck out #traitorous goddamn body #we shall see what the counselor says before i message my endo doctor agAIn but i don't think i'm any more capable of working full weeks #now than i was 4 weeks ago #i haven't worked a full week in the 6 weeks since school came back #rip to me #😔#some day my whiny text posts will be but a memory #i say as if i have any faith

A little Update

Hello my lovies! I just wanted to give you guys a little update regarding things i've been/haven't been working on.

If i'm being honest, right now I'm just focusing on writing stuff for the Brotherly Love Event starting on July 3rd through the 9th! I've been wanting to participate in this event for a while so i'm putting all the energy I have into writing short little fics for each day of the event. I've got 2 written so far and I hope you look forward to reading them!!

As for other requests/fics/series, it's kind of on hold for now probably until after the event. I definitely plan on going back to them all since writing is like, one of the things that brings me joy to do.

Mentally i'm also just not doing so hot, i'm having a lot of problems finding a new job and it's weighing down on me immensely. Rip. So i'm just taking my time and doing what I can when I can.

However the next thing I'll probably do is another follower event, which will for sure be after the Brotherly Love event as well. But we'll see how it goes!
