I genuinely think that any change in behavior starts w telling yourself that your worst days, worst performances, just worst moments in general aren’t who you “truly are.” It’s all about unlearning any thought process that essentially chalks up traits you aren’t proud of to “this is who I really am” “in reality I’m lazy” “in reality I’m just a bad person” bc not only is that never true, but it impedes your efforts to try to do better as well. Anything we struggle with has roots in things like childhood trauma, thoughts you’ve been fed before, your upbringing…. but never that you’re inherently a bad person. What I’m learning this year is that a lot of us doing better & being better & improving really comes down to self-talk—to disavowing the very notion that deep down we’re simply bad.

i been thinkin bout sampard a lot in terms of their values n morals n like. i feel ppl dont really address the fact that they are very much on opposing sides a the law in terms of what it would mean for an actual established relationship. which ofc is fine who cares but it Interests me so much like

at their cores they Do share a clear care for other ppl and the planet they live on. but gepard is very much a by the rules, follow the law, justice driven character who will follow laws to a T. its integral to his character. Opposing this is Sampo though like. he's a criminal and he messes woth people and we can argue that he isnt evil but he IS unlawful and orchestrates scams that harm people to arguable degrees.

i think the solution i see to this dichotomy the most is sampo turning a new leaf n becoming a Good Civilian but tbh i'd argue that his criminality is just as integral to his character as justice is to Gepard's. ive said before i cant imagine him ever changing into a Good Boy but i genuinely mean it.

i just think it'd be the most contentious aspect to their relationship like. that gepard believes the law is always moral and just, sampo doesnt see the law as always moral nor that He should always be moral. i dont know fully how they would actually parse that n i wanna explore it

i think the biggest misunderstanding concerning alicent's characterization is the misinterpretation of 1x06 as the "beginning" of something for alicent. it is, in some sense, a beginning, but it is more the beginning of the end. specifically, 1x06 is when alicent's disillusionment when the green dress begins (i.e., is it the beginning of the end of this version of alicent that never really represented alicent's actual feelings to begin with). we see in the first frame alicent is introduced in 1x06, her dress is being tailored; this suggests that the idea behind the green dress is something that requires constant upkeep and maintenance on alicent's part. by the end of the episode, we understand that alicent struggles with enforcing the ideals of the green dress upon her children and rhaenyra when she basically has a panic attack in the hallway after speaking with viserys and lionel. this comes to a head at the very end of 1x06 when alicent clearly regrets larys killing harwin. this is the first time that wearing the green dress has had a tangible negative impact on rhaenyra beyond their juvenile interpersonal conflict. again, in 1x07 when alicent cuts rhaenyra, she is deeply regretful; otto has to go to alicent and actively manipulate her into believing that she has done the right thing. by 1x08, alicent believes rhaenyra should be queen, and she only crowns aegon in 1x09 because she's been groomed into believing aegon is her life's purpose. season 2 is about alicent learning the truth and being put into a position where she can actually think for herself without the influence of the men that abused her. and all of this started in 1x06. there was never really any time during this story that alicent hated rhaenyra, or when alicent didn't love rhaenyra. if the writers wanted to show us that period of time, they wouldn't have done the time jump as they did. the writers are literally telling us that alicent always loved rhaenyra, and that's what we as viewers should be focusing on.
