honestly on the fence about kids. on one hand, it’d make his mother really happy, as well as how it’s expected at the time period. but, he isn’t too interested in physically showing his desires. and, he is quite busy as well with his job and the whole murdering thing. it’s only if you ask him explicitly that he’d decide to look into it, maybe adoption? :>

as the sweet nothings fell from his lips, your tears ceased, finding the warmth in his touch. “thank you, dear… you always know how to make me feel better, i love you so much…” you sighed, curling into his touch. “mmh, i love you as well, my pretty girl.” he grinned, kissing your forehead.

as stated above, alastor is not particularly attracted to your looks, but moreso your intelligence and your ability to see right through that charming facade of his. funnily enough, it started a healthy relationship for one of the most deranged men out there.

he’d also be quite attracted to you if you joined him one night. nothing’s more attractive than your beautiful wife in a pretty dress he bought for you all bloodied up with a knife in your hand.

he loves to show you off to the newspapers as his pretty doll, not only because you’re quite the eye candy, but to also make you confident in yourself

he’d still get jealous whenever he’d catch someone staring too long though. ironically enough, he thinks it’s adorable when you get jealous and pout your face. he’s your’s after all, body and soul! why fuss over something that’s not gonna happen?

arguments are quite rare since alastor doesn’t tend to do things that are argument worthy. one of the few reasons you tend to argue is when alastor heads to the club after work and comes home drunk and much later than he intended to. and, after all that, he still apologizes for coming home late, probably tries to come home early so he can cook dinner the next day as an apology :>

i  do  think  that  eliza  debuted  onto  the  music  scene  prior  to  the  band  forming  -  originally,  she  was  the  glue  that  held  it  together  because  she  was  well  on  her  way  to  becoming  a  household  name  right  as  the  band  got  started.  (i’d  guess  that  means  one  album  or  EP  under  her  belt  before  they  started.)  then  came  along  ben,  ruby,  alice  and  phoebe.  to  say  that  they  became  famous  overnight  is  a  gross  understatement.

the  first  album  (HONEY)  is  somewhat  tame.  exciting,  of  the  pop-rock-punk  genre  and  easy  to  get  fans  interested.  the  tour  is  nationwide,  hitting  each  coast  and  lingering  in  bigger  cities,  selling  out  each  show.  dates  are  added  (arguably  too  many),  and  as  soon  as  management  has  milked  it  for  all  its  worth,  it’s  time  to  get  back  into  the  studio.  POMEGRANATE  SEEDS  are  leftover  songs  put  on  the  back  burner  from  album  one,  released  to  keep  the  momentum  going.

2023 Reading Log pt 16

The last books I read in 2023, and the least books I've read in a year since starting to keep track. But 80 books is still nothing to sneeze at.

76. Pandemonium: A Visual History of Demonology by Ed Simon. This book rules; it’s up there for best books I’ve read in 2023. As the title suggests, the book is primarily concerned with high quality reproductions of art of demons and hell in the Western tradition, organized by era, with accompanying essays discussing the role played by demons in culture and what they symbolize in literature, religion and art. These build to a crescendo, as the last essays are about the modern era as an Age of Moloch, where destructive, unrelenting consumption is the rule of the elite, which articulates feelings that I have had as a demon-obsessed ex-Christian for some time. It also talks about the Cthulhu Mythos as a post-modern demonology, which probably pisses ST Joshi off something fierce, so I give it props for that as well.

76a. A Curious History of Vegetables by Wolf D. Storl. “Curious” is an excellent word to describe this book, as its author is a nut. We’re talking, “consults astrological charts for planting certain vegetables” nut. Although the cover calls him an “ethnobotanist”, Storl is clearly a crank of the highest order—the introduction includes ranting about how vegetables are full of deva spirits, but GMOs are possessed by rakshasas. I was willing to read along for quite a while with this as a book about the magical properties and beliefs about plants—I got about halfway. But by that point, the author’s continual paranoia about using drugs as medicine, claiming that every vegetable is a panacea, and obvious disdain for scientific curiosity or little things like “evidence” got to be too much for me. That’s not me elevating him into a strawman, BTW. He goes into a lengthy rant about “The Shoemaker and the Elves”, talking about how scientists destroy magic with their curiosity and thus ruin the world. Blech.

77. Most Delicious Poison by Noah Whiteman. I’m a sucker for books about poison, and this is a good one. I think I’d still recommend Plants that Kill above this, but this is an excellent follow-up for the reader. This book talks a lot more about the modes of action of particular chemicals, and how chemicals fall into families of molecules that often have related properties. The book is one of those part science/part memoir nonfiction books that seem to have grown in popularity. The author was inspired to write it in part by his father’s death from alcoholism. So definitely go into it with a trigger warning in mind.

77a. Sex in the World of Myth by David Leeming. Abandoned after the Greece/Rome chapter. I abandoned it partially because it lumped Greece and Rome together and talked about their views on sex and sexuality as if they were interchangeable and consistent through the thousands of years of their existences, partially because the author is a Freudian. Life is too short to read books by Freudians. The specific line that made me give up was when the author defined all pornography as violent and exploitative. Blanket statement.

78. Household Horror by Marc Olivier. This is a weird one, even by the standards of “scholarly analyses of horror movies”, in that it looks at the horror movies it covers from the perspective of inanimate objects within them. Sometimes literally—the author discusses The Exorcist through the lens of Regan’s bed being possessed before she is—and sometimes figuratively—what does the exact make and model of the typewriter, and the reams and reams of hand typed text, say about The Shining? It’s witty and engaging, and an interesting way to view and review movies that, for the most part, have received a lot of critical attention already.

79. Quackery: A Brief History of the Worst Ways to Cure Everything by Lydia Kang and Nate Pedersen. This is a re-read; I bought this book shortly after it was released in 2017 and read it then. But, the podcast Behind the Bastards did an episode on radium quackery that used it as a source, and I was still stinging from having started and abandoned two crappy books in as many weeks, so I wanted something of a comfort read. Of course, my version of a “comfort read” involves gross medical malpractice and people poisoning themselves and others. I’m strange. The book is organized into chapters by subject (elements, animal products, vegetable poisons, etc), and is very well illustrated with vintage advertisements, engravings and photographs. There are more in-depth books about just about all of the topics covered here, but this is an excellent survey of the more shameful corners of medical history.

80. Words from Hell by Jess Zafarris. It’s a book on etymology! Namely, the etymology of profanity, slurs, sex, violence, drugs, crime, monsters… It’s a bit of a mixed bag in terms of theme, but is organized well within. A recurring topic is the hidden biases built into the English language, from “sinister” meaning “left-handed” to the classism built into words like “rascal” and “villain”. The author is good about discussing multiple hypotheses for word origins, and about when things are uncertain and unknown. And she’s a sex-positive WLW, which goes a long way towards giving me good feelings towards any book (an example joke: when discussing the shared root word of “vagina” and “vanilla”, she quips “no wonder they’re both so fun to lick”).

Hm...things you all don't know, yet.

There is a prompt that was sent to my inbox that I am brainstorming on filling that will show another way Otto gets induced. A little birthday trip courtesy of Atticus which I plan to be wholesome (and then a bit saucy). You'll tank me later.

I feel like I've talked (possibly too much) about trauma. But there is some background I'm aware of that I've recently been able to piece together to the reason Mark and Otto know each other (with some borrowing from the source material of his character) and what the drama is between Mark and Jana and Mark and Alice. And how/why, exactly, Mark and Otto became such good friends. (A detective and a clock maker with a 10-year age gap don't usually hang out in the same places...)

I've mentioned how Atticus has big ole belches and Otto tries to hold them in. It's a possible reason to why Otto is more prone to hiccups (or prone at all) compared to Atty.

I really want to skate the line of making a sneeze-related fic. As I've mentioned before, I don't actually have a sneeze fetish, but I do appreciate the fics a lot for hurt/comfort elements and some lack of control with sneezing. That being said, Otto, as is demonstrated in a previous story, has pretty powerful sneezes.

Otto is also, I decided, allergic to cats. Atticus bemoans this fact because all they feel is lacking in their household is a cat. Otto is, decidedly, a dog person if he had the choice. But he hesitates on bringing any animal in with his fastidiousness on keeping his house and his workstation clean and tidy.

That being said, I've wondered about researching allergy shots when it comes to cats. I think Otto sneezing would be a fun thing to play with, as well. I suspect Cindy actually has a sneeze fetish and it would be interesting to see her reaction if Otto is sneezing one game night over and her and Margie's place.

It would be something fun to play with if Margie unwittingly finds out about Atticus' fetish and Otto finds out about Cindy's. Imagine these two connecting over having partners with the most adorable kinks. I dunno, there's something sweet and wholesome about that in my mind.

Anyway, it's about Asano who has had a ghost companion called Ikeda ever since he was four years old. They are bound together by an invisible thread that, if ever broken, is said to forever break the living's person soul. The next decade passes without incident, but once they discover in what way Ikeda's life (or rather, his death) has been an integral part to the Asano household, it finally threatens to snap once and for all

I can't give you an exact age for this one since I've only ever handwritten it, but I know it's several years old. I think maybe 5 or 6 years.....? It's definitely the second oldest one on the list tho

Hey, the newest one in the entire line-up!

What inspired this one was my brain coming up with this exchange:

Father: I do not remember you being so hateful. Lucifer: That 'hate' is nothing but the love you took from me. My corps has been rotting alongside hers the day you chose to abandon me. Her blood will forever cling to your hands, Oh Divine "Creator". You killed her. You killed me.

And then I thought 'hey, this would be a cool fanfic idea'. And then it spiraled from there

So essentially, it's about OG Lucifer suddenly finding himself in the Celestial Realm long before the Great Celestial War will take place, finally getting to yell at Father and realizing that ultimately, he's happier now as a demon than he would have been if he continued being an angel

Or as I described it to a few friends: og Lucifer suddenly finds himself in the Celestial Realm in a time before the Great Celestial War & he just met Father again & he was giving Luci shit for being super pissed at him & then Luci is like "don't care + didn't ask + ratio + I've never been happier bitch"

This one would feature the other brothers + Lilith as children btw, so it would have a lot of fluff >:)

As for the title, this was the only one I didn't already have one for since I only came up with the idea itself like five days ago. I had to come up with one at the spot and this was the first thing I thought of 😭

Behind-The Scenes On Adiel's Room: Part 1

Hey everyone! I wanted to share all of the little details you can find in Adiel's room, because I think it would be fun to discuss. For today, let's discuss everything that's on Adiel's table & shelf! This is going to be a longer post, so here we go!

Let's start with the flowers in the vase!

I knew I wanted to have a vase of flowers in Adiel's room, but when it came to drawing it, there was a problem: I didn't know what kind of flowers were in the backrooms! So I googled it, and came across an interesting one in the backrooms fandom wiki (this is the only object from there btw--the rest are from the official wikidot site) called "Devil's Ambrosia".

There are quite a few interesting things about this backrooms object. First of all, it smells different for everyone who takes in the scent. And second & most importantly, it could actually be a hiveminded entity, as it is responsible for the creation of a different entity on the fandom wiki called "Slashers". I think Adiel is immune to these effects and unaware of the dangers--he probably just thought they were pretty.

Next item! Let's start at the bottom of the shelf and go up from there.

This is a backrooms item known as the BackROM, a game system with multiple strange video games you can play. The specific cartridge is for the game "CLOWNS", which basically causes the player to go unconscious and have a realistic dream about robbing a bank with people wearing clown masks. Sounds like a fun time! And like in the picture of the BackROM on the wiki, the game system is paired with an older television set.

This is a backrooms item that I'm sure everyone is familiar with: almond water! I actually want to go behind-the-scenes with how I designed the canister for it in another post, so stay tuned for that!

If you're not aware, almond water is basically your backbone of survival in the backrooms, as it will help keep you alert, alive, and sane. We're all for almond water in this household!

This item looks pretty self-explanatory--they're just 3D glasses, right? Well, like most backrooms objects, there's an extra layer here to these optical lenses.

They're a backrooms item called 3D Vision Glasses, and basically, when you put them on, your vision goes from being first-person to third-person, seeing the world from external perspective somewhere behind you, like in a video game. I wonder what kind of situations Adiel has used these glasses in?

This backrooms item has the obvious name of "Candy". This orange bag is distributed by the "Backrooms Nonaligned Trade Group" or B.N.T.G., which is basically an offshoot of ex-M.E.G. operatives. The candy bag is a pound, and contains individually-wrapped sweet treats that bestow different abilities or unique properties on whoever eats it. For example, the candy "Braniacs" makes you feel a lot smarter, and the candy "Guys" turns your hand into a working gun. Lots of interesting stuff. I wonder what kind of candy is in Adiel's candy bag.

This camera isn't based on any specific backrooms item. The design is based on an old Polaroid 600, and based on the pictures on the wall (which will be discussed in Part 2 to this post), Adiel's taken quite a few shots with this thing.

Finally, we have the last item, which is called a Spirit Link. Basically, these hats on a Saberzoa (an entity in The Blue Channel) make you see (through the gem on the hat) what emotion the Saberzoa is experiencing, and lets the Saberzoa communicate telepathically. Place the Spirit Link on any other creature, and the effect will be unpredictable. When do you think Adiel visited The Blue Channel?

also i agree with you on traveler making more sense being snobby. the only traveler who seems to have canon reasons for being less of a snob is kit!traveler, because Nikolle was the most well-adjusted of the queens before she got sick, and Sorenn was a pretty nice prince, so kit!traveler had him to look up to. personally i think it'd be super interesting if traveler's mom influenced their personality more. i also think it would be fun to play with the idea of traveler being a far kinder person when they don't remember their past, and then feeling conflicted when they remember their royal lineage because we know through dialogue that they were predisposed to dislike mercenaries already. how would their old personality rear its head? would it at all? just fun things to speculate.

to the arlo point, i went back and played both june and cal's route through episode 6 the other day and tried out every single hobby option on both of them LMAO i have problems. but anyway i believe you're right in that Cal knew of Arlo rather than knowing him directly, i believe he says something like "No offense but he always seemed like a little shit" and Traveler is like "None taken he totally was" LOL.

Gladly 😌 Flaaats my guy, Flint as is his human name, dear good buddy and also the annoyingest older brother to possibly exist. I'm a sucker for the idea of Rusty and the freight being siblings so I wanted to apply that to this au as well. Rusty's household is kind of an interesting place, they have a fairly big house that they're able to maintain decently, but this is only because their adoptive mother was a pretty popular lady awhile back and garnered a lot of money from her line of work.

Flint and Dustin are the oldest of the bunch, same age with incredibly close birthdays (only a month apart) but they act wildly different even though they play the same role.

Flint is a lot more wild and out there and rebellious than his brother, gets mixed up in things and has a tooth missing from a fight in middle school.

When it comes to his status as one of the eldest siblings, Flat-Top takes a very chaotic approach to things. If he was left in charge of rallying everyone to breakfast, he'd be bursting into their rooms and shouting at them to "Get a move on! We all got school, I know we do!"

Like all the other characters, his musical name is his nickname. Why is his nickname Flat-Top? No clue.

Flint's got a friendship with Greaseball as well, though his friendship with GB is less strained, they get along pretty decently all things considered and Flat-Top loves to hang out with the guy. He's also pretty good pals with most of GB's friends (his "gang").

Bullies Rusty about his crush on Pearl SO much. If they meet in the hallway during class changes and he catches Rusty eyeing Pearl, you better believe that he's going to say something about it. It's all in good fun though, when it comes down to the basics, Flint's willing to do anything for his siblings. They mean the world to him even if he picks at them sometimes.

Tight as hell with Dustin. They stuck together when they first met as young kids and have been sticking together ever since. Absolutely unmatched duo, do not fuck with Dustin unless you wanna get smacked.

He has his brick btw. He stole it from a construction site, and he once smashed a window with it for fun. Nobody ever found out and he finds that incredibly funny.

Who's your favorite character from any media and what's your favorite thing about them?

Uh Let me throw a curve ball and not choose the obvious one- I wanna talk about Utena but that show has a lot of Content Warnings so were going to go with Digimon Survive character Shuuji Kayama...which also needs content warnings but not as much as Utena (my favorite in Utena is a tie between Anthy and Nanami btw) CWs for: Abuse and Self-Hatred

I love all the cast of Digimon Survive, a lot. I love them all dearly. Shuuji Kayama is gonna be talked about because I have Thoughts on the themes of this teenager. So in Digimon Survive (and also the Adventure continuity but we aint talking about that at the moment) Digimon are soulbonds. A digimon reflects the partner and vice versa

(and also because multiple people have been tripped up by this before: Yes the digimon can talk) Shuuji Kayama is an incredibly interesting character when viewed through this lens, because at the start he absolutely hates his partner, and it's not really clear why! Lopmon (his partner) is really sweet and earnest and while he isn't the most powerful he is basically unoffensive.

However as you go through the story it becomes clearer that this is a reflection of Shuuji Kayama's Own Abusive Household. Where Lopmon is the Child Shuuji wants to bury. The version of himself he wants to destroy.

And since Lopmon is Shuuji and Shuuji is Lopmon because partner soul bonds...well, y'know.

There's so much more to Shuuji but I want you to Play Digimon Survive Right Now. Is it the best game? No, not really, but the narrative and themes and characters are so good and interesting and I want More People To Get into Digimon-

i think i mentioned this before already but after the tavern closes she’d pop in to keep him company + help out as he cleans and makes preparations for the next day.

Clover and Spence 💖Clover is the Sim I made for the "I'm Not My Parents" Challenge that I was doing on YT. I was never really big on the country living and stuff so it was kinda challenging to stay into the first generation...I miss playing with them though since she was pregnant with their 2nd baby when I took a break!

Khari was a sim I was playing with in my 'rundown Newcrest' save file. Basically I just wanted to have a really chaotic save file with drugs, strippers, and poor sims lol Her story was REALLY wild as she was with multiple men, finally settled down and found out she was prego. Her boyfriend was a drug addict and ended up being murdered by some random lady on the street after he broke out of jail (this was all autonomous btw lmao). After she had the baby I struggled to figure out what I wanted to do next with her...I'd like to help her turn her life around though.

Last but CERTAINLY not least...is my absolute FAVORITE family of 2024. This is the O'Briens. I made them last year but this year they became the face of my YT channel. Sky has been through SO much: she was abused by her ex husband in her front yard, her friend from high school, Kyle Kyleson, has forever been trying to make moves on her and even gave her and her 4 kids a place to live when their house got robbed. But now that her 4 kids (also known as The Quads) are teens, things have gotten even MORE complicated. Her son Kellan had a baby with her best friend's daughter, Karmine. Her other best friend Penny Pizazz has been making moves on her fiance behind her back and her fiance (Dutch) has been feeling tense everyday from dealing with their newborn AND The Quads. He's taken on a lot of responsibility with Sky and I think now he's second guessing his choice to ask her to marry him 😢Honeyyyyy this household is a WHIRLWIND lol

When I talk about bitter Kanthony stans this is what I mean...

They do the same with Luke calling him both fat an anorexic, they can't make up their minds. This is why even though there are some decent stans, the fandom in general dislikes Kanthony stans. Because the most vocal are like this person.

And you can't even truly say it's over disappointment about their season, though that is it in part. Because while I didn't watch the show when it debuted I went back and old conversations and know what I found? Kanthony stans harassing Daphene/Simon fans talking about how much better their season would be and how Anthony is the true head of the household and they are the ones the family truly look to guidance for and basically the foundation of the entire family. They were pulling this before the season debuted and referenced the books. Which I hadn't read either. Well, I've since read a majority of them and you know which character was more prevalent in the books? Colin. NOT Anthony. Not saying super huge part because the books are mostly standalone's but he legit plays matchmaker for at least 2 couples and sits in a tree with Gregory to support him spying on his love interest. Anthony's biggest role is mainly with Eloise for a couple scenes. Maybe Daphne, I dunno since didn't read that one but the others not really.

They also harassed Queen Charlotte stans when came out.

Colin/Pen, Luke/Nicole have gotten it the worst but mainly because dared to follow their season and they are convinced the show's theme should have been changed to follow the lives of Kate and Anthony Bridgerton rather than other seasons getting their own book.

I have seen them call Nicole a racist and claim hates Simone while turning about and hating on the predominately African American driven show of Queen Charlotte. I've seen them hate on Daphne for the scene where she does force a result in bed with Simon, but ignore Anthony setting up Daphne to marry her would be rapist and dangling two sisters while also disposing of his mistress like trash. I've seen them mock Luke for occasional stutter and when told of dyslexia/adhd mock that. They call him ugly in seasons 1 and 2 (and yeah gained a few pounds after covid season 2 but most people did) and what they really mean is he was the only brother not stripping naked onscreen. When they call him boring, that is what they mean. Because it's not about the storyline, but soft core porn feel denied.

BTW, no idea if do some sort of montage with Colin overseas with women or not this season or just sort of infer it but that is why they love Benedict the most of the brothers btw. All the flings where hey...may be lacking a story narrative but he's butt is on display so all is good. I personally think the actor would have rathered more of a relevant sl but just me.

I have seen them say Nicole broke up Luke's prior relationship with an affair as well as say she slept with half the cast and production/casting to get attention on the show. Nevermind she was first cast because she plays THE Lady Whistledown character which the entire show revolves around, at least in the first several books.

I've seen them say Luke can't act when clearly that is untrue as his micro expressions are excellent if he is able to convey thought and feeling in brief clips/scenes and he is one of those actors that can act with their eyes which I love. I have a personal preference for actors who don't need to rely on excessive physical movements to act. He is one of them. Also received high reviews for his recent play. but when you aren't given a particularly heavy sl to act out there is only so much you can do, which is why really looking forward to this season.

And yes...the names they call Nicole because a little overweight. Hon, if anyone is living vicariously through the show it is not the people who enjoy Penelope because we liked prior diverse characters. It is the people who apparently only want one shape (perhaps because they are not thin themselves) and wish to imagine a world in which they were that shape in particular. Sure, people may identify with Pen/Nicola as most people aren't their ideal weight from a medical standpoint but if they liked Daphene and Kate (and most did) that fantasy is not what is driving them to watch. And if you are only driven to like characters based upon their appearance and not their worth as a character, well, then you are shallow and should just go watch porn where you can get that without the pesky inconvenience of character development.

Because I've NEVER been into shows where its about sex. This is why I rebelled against Riverdale. Sex depicted on screen is fine, not against it, but I don't want it for the sake of wanting it. I need to care about the characters and see development. This is why I FW Benedict's sex scenes after the first run through. They bore me. I'll watch Anthony with Siena because there were actual feelings there but I FW the bedside scene montage with him dripping coins after sex. So yeah I will watch Colin and Penelope but that is because it's 3 seasons of development so I'm invested. But if Benedict hooks up without another random woman, outside the first time, likely won't watch again. Alice and Will? I love them so if they have one I would watch. I'm on the fence about Violet and Marcus because not sure in what form the relationship develops. I had NO interest in Ledger and young Danbury. They keep saying it was love but the writing/acting didn't convince me anything but a lonely middle aged man in crisis who did not agree with his wife's prejudices reliving his youth by seeking out a newly widowed woman who had been groomed for an old ledger and not a lot of experience with men outside of that. I could certainly see how a connection might form between them, I just don't think the writing made that connection well.

At any rate, the people who have a problem with a sex scene with Nicola can shove their prejudices off a cliff. The people excited for their season aren't the ones with the issues. As for Luke, he was always the most traditionally handsome man of the brothers and if the only reason you couldn't see that is because wasn't naked half the time...also your problem. However, even if he weren't, I don't really care. Some of us watched shows with a variety of body shapes and or people not considered classically attractive in our life times and don't have an issue with it on screen because I've always been attracted more to personality first. For physical attributes, I tend to always notice their eyes first so I can't say I identify with the first. Next trait I notice is hair color. I like dark or brown hair for men but people can dye their hair so hardly a requirement. Personality? I like good humor. It can be good natured or sarcasm or whatever. Also like someone who is isn't generally deceptive. Doesn't mean have to be an extrovert, you can be served, but not into liars. Also like people who are generally principled. Maybe don't agree with them on everything, but changing your opinion based on tides of the moment...not into that. Which is actually why I like the sl for Colin.

He's generally been straightforward, good humored and principled but had one slip up with Penelope end of season driven to seek good opinions of people's who's opinions are not worth being sought. Paying the price for that and I think ultimately will further cement him as the principled brother he generally always was. Because no one is perfect but that that one slip up is understandable because still young and young people often feel pressure to blend in. But it is so against how he is in general AND HAS BEEN TO THAT POINT with Penelope that you see instant remorse and self loathing when she brings it up to him. It will also make courting her a bit more difficult so it's a nice lesson, it's a relatable lesson and a totally believable one for any time period. It's also one where you see him pay a price and redeem himself and ultimately grow as a character. I like that.

I like storyline where you don't absolve people of sins but flesh out the mistake and then evolve. I felt they missed the mark with Anthony in denying him that sl personally. I am hoping they don't deny it to Eloise.

RD would do that all the time with Archie and Betty and I HATED it and in return ended up hating their characters. You don't do well by your characters by brushing off penance and redemption. Those two things often make the character better.

The very first Sims game I ever played was The Sims 3, on the Xbox 360 console, when I was a teenager. Back then, TS3 was one of the bigger and newer EA games of the time, and it was everywhere. I spent hours in front of the TV, playing my households with no CC or DLC, wrapped up in my own imagination, no consideration for picture-taking, nothing! Just pure self-indulgent fun. I wasn’t a PC gamer and I had no idea CC or Simblr even existed. It was a much simpler time.

I think it was around the final year of high school when I first stumbled across sims CC somewhere on the internet. (Someone had posted screenshots of their very attractive male sim, that I do remember. Explains a lot doesn’t it?) I can’t remember the exact time. It might have been on my personal Tumblr account (all my friends had one and we thought we were so cool) or even Google Images lmao. My mind was blown. I never knew you could make hot sims. I immediately bought a Sims 3 CD and installed it on my Dad’s laptop. The PC version of TS3 was so much better. That was also when I started a Simblr, to follow others and share my own pics... this very same one!

After I discovered CC and Simblr, I never played the game the same way ever again. My interest shifted to character creation and ~fashion~ I guess. The endless amount of simspiration and CC spoiled me and ruined my appreciation for the game in its untouched form. I wanted my sims, my builds, my pictures, everything to look perfect, and I was never satisfied. I viewed my game and my content through other people’s eyes, not my own.

I remember being so in awe of everyone else on here. At the time, I only had the base game, I didn’t know how to torrent anything, my Dad’s laptop could barely run the game, I didn’t have money to buy dlc, and I had no idea how to make any kind of CC other than the simplest graphic edits. All I really did was make sims and pose them for photoshoots. Obsessively downloaded a shit ton of other people’s CC. Wrote a little bit here and there. Played my household once in a blue moon. Everyone else, with their cliques and fun legacies and bachelorette challenges and CC creations and intricate builds and amazing editing, seemed so much cooler than me. There were so many different websites and forums and blogs. The TS3 player base was huge. I was amazed by all of it. I couldn’t believe we were all playing the same game. I couldn’t believe people were so creative and talented. It was an odd mixture of admiration, envy, and feeling like an outsider compared to the “big” Simblrs of the time.

I made some simple cc here and there to contribute to the community, but I didn’t know what I was doing and I didn’t take it seriously. I wanted to create better things but it all seemed so complicated, and I didn’t think I was smart enough to learn.

Then, I went off to university. Away from my Dad’s laptop, I lost interest in the game, and became preoccupied with other life things and other console games. I wasn’t really around for the release of The Sims 4. I was busy, and it just didn’t have the same magic. For a few years, I didn’t even log into this Tumblr account. I didn’t pick up TS3 again until right before the pandemic happened, on a nostalgic whim. 

When I first started posting again in 2019/2020, I didn’t expect much. A lot of my previous Simblr mutuals/friends were no longer here. Every post on my dashboard was about TS4. Most of my followers from years ago were no longer active. There were only a few familiar faces left. It was lonely, coming back here only to see how everyone had moved on, and I was nobody. But still, the game was just as fun as I remembered it, with years’ worth of new CC to check out, so I kept playing and posting and catching up on all I had missed, and slowly I started finding community again.

Now that I’m a bit older, I find myself appreciating the game a lot more, in ways I couldn’t before. The beautiful scenery. The open world. The Create-a-Style tool. The maxis-match aesthetic. The humor. The dated yet charming look of the clothes and the townies and the worlds. The time in my life when the game was still new.

I also feel like it’s easier and less stressful to participate in the community now that I have a little bit more maturity than when I was 18. It feels freer and more fun. When I read posts by simmers talking about how they feel like their content is not good enough, or comparing themselves to others, I feel sad. I used to feel the same way. But being “good” at Simblr/social media, and having fun with the game (in whichever way you define fun), are two very different things. I hope that makes sense. It took me some time to learn how to not let comparison steal my joy, and give myself permission to just do what I wanted to do, regardless of whether other people might like it or not. When I look back on my older posts, I feel like I’ve grown so much, both as a simmer and a person.

Well, maybe I haven’t changed that much. I still love my hot pixel men.

I’m so glad I came back to Simblr. My simming hobby has turned into a much bigger thing than I ever thought it would. I mean, I learned how to make CC that other people like? I’ve made so many new connections? My sims have become OCs I’m attached to? I see the TS3 community being revived again as EA drives TS4 into the ground more and more each day? Who would’ve guessed 😆 

I love this game, I love the creativity it inspires in me, and I love the wonderful people that make up this little corner of the internet. ✨💛

When Holly got sick and it was clear the crusaders had to go to Egypt, you didn't hesitate to sign up. It was a rare time that you were serious and your loyalty to your aged best friend shined through. You loved his family and you saw Holly grow up, of course you'd be there for him

Throughout SDC, you mostly just laughed at him (mostly during the fight with Mariah) and cracked jokes with him to ease tense situations
