I honestly don't like when I have a really intense otp in a fandom. My level of emotional exclusivity for ships varies WILDLY depending on canon, what the characters are like and how I respond to them personally.

Sometimes I'll be in a fandom that gives me just one otp that I feel such a strong attachment to, that seeing other ships involving those characters makes me annoyed. I'll be like "that doesn't even make sense! Grrr!" In my head, tell myself to chill and then rinse and repeat when I inevitably see the notp again.

It's annoying because I fervently believe fandom should be a place where everyone can play with all the dolls in whatever way they want to, regardless of canon and certainly regardless of my emotions about it, but that's just not always how I respond.
