one of the more interesting things I learned when I read What Would Mrs Astor Do is just how complex dressing requirements were during the Gilded Age. I mean I’m not surprised but these bitches had to change outfits multiple times a day for shit if they were going out or something. Everyone has to wear a hat. Like it’s required for some reason. Men have to have a walking stick to take everywhere for some reason. They have to change outfits for dinner. That’s just too much
Vincent probably found it extremely odd that these clothing rituals and requirements don’t exist in Texas but he probably gets very used to not having to sweat his clothes as much, though he always dresses nicely anyway. He just doesn’t change multiple times a day. He also probably stopped wearing hats after someone stole his nice silk top hat from Jack’s one day or bringing any of that extra stuff aside from his pretty little decorative pocket watch (something every man has to have as well) or a lapel pin or something.
Probably tough to readjust once he moves back to New York. All this random shit to remember and follow and he just doesn’t care anymore for a lot of reasons.
#psy's no punctuation posts#SOBR tag#this started out as a way to talk about the sheer modesty of Gilded Age dressing#to segue into saying I want Vincent to wear short shorts and a half buttoned shirt to show off his body hair KRJFN#which tbh shorts and nice button up is a pretty typical casual rich man outfit#he’d love that fit fr that’s his casual one even though everyone would complain he still dresses too nice lol#flexing his Rolex and nice shoes n whatnot#I just like him wearing shorts cause I think he’s got nice legs#he seems like the type of dude to enjoy running and biking and hiking and things like that#bro got the finest thighs I know it ZKDNDJ
