Point of order: I'm a picky bitch. The amount of books I've read vs the books I'd actually put on a bookshelf are like.... maybe 20, taking into account most of them are part of a series. Tho tbf most of the 'good books' I want aren't on KU and I'm kinda fucking broke. Also yes, the early days of booktok got me back into reading after a 10+ year slump in case that wasn't about to become insanely obvious.

1) The last book I read:

Fake It Till You Make It by Flora Quincy. Been on the hunt for more omegaverse books, but this one was terrible >< DNF'd.

2) A book I recommend:

I don't know how not to sound like a basic bitch broken record, but for the love of god go read A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas. Just stop after book three in the series.

3) A book that I couldn’t put down:

Blood and Ash by Jennifer L Armentrout. Binged the first three books (that were out) in two days. Wish I could afford the rest.

4) A book I’ve read twice (or more):

Hi. Basic bitch again :) A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas. You have no idea what this book meant to me the first time I read it and the strength it gave me to open my eyes and see that I was worth so much more.

5) A book on my TBR:

Currently there are about 28 of varying excitement to read (most of it is what I refer to as 'junk food'), but I've got an upcoming release in September for the fourth book in the Beasts of the Briar series by Elizabeth Helen called Broken By Daylight I'm looking forward to.

6) A book I’ve put down:

Exodus by Kate Stewart. I was prepared to put this series as one of my all time favorites with the way I felt falling in love with Sean and Dom, but after that... refused to read more. Genuinely devastated, still not over it. Haven't looked at rainy days the same ever since.

Also just because it still bothers me - House of Flame and Shadow by Sarah J Maas. What the fuck girl?! The first one was so good and I praise so much of your work! But it's like ever since ACOTAR book 4 came out you've just dropped the ball...

7) A book on my wish list:

Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros. Hopefully it's better than some of the other dragon books I've tried recently.

8) A favorite book from childhood:

The Sight by David Clement-Davies. It's a fantasy book that follows a pack of wolves and their daughter who has visions. Have tissues on hand.

9) A book you would give to a friend:

Death: A Life by George Pendle. Not my usual fare, but it's a fun 'autobiography' about the grim reaper.

Just cracked open Baby + the Late Night Howlers by Kathryn Moon, but I'm expecting to probably close it within the first few pages (seriously, my kingdom for a good omegaverse that I haven't already read 😭).

God, idk. Most of the books on my list either cost money, aren't out yet, or are titles I know are most likely gonna be mid at best.

Who's your favourite ACOTAR character?

It’s definitely a tie between Lucien and Nesta! I’ve been a ride or die for Lucien since the first book, because I love me a charismatic red head, but I tend to be more vocal about my love for Nes.

Who's your least favourite character?

Oof, it would have to be Amren. I just don’t think she really adds anything to the story beyond existing to be snarky and drop lore when SJM writes herself into a corner. Definitely a character that would have had more impact if she would have stayed dead.

Say something nice about your least favourite character.

Her concept is very interesting! A creature that is not a faerie who was forced to inhabit the body of one. Who had greater abilities than anyone could dream, her only connection to the creature she was, only to lose them all at the cost of her living. Psychologically that is so cool, I would love to read more about what it meant for her mental state in the aftermath.

Who's your favourite High Lord? (If you picked one for your fav character, then who's your second fav!)

Tarquin! When he was introduced, he just instantly stole the show for me. I loved how gentle he was with Feyre, his kindness and confidence in his goals to unite lesser and high fae, and how passionate he got when confronting the Night Court.

Favourite MINOR character?

Remember the mortal that Feyre, Elain, Azriel, and Tamlin saved? Briar? Yeah, her. I’m obsessed with her story. A woman who was essentially groomed into praising the fae, learning first hand how awful they could be, and then going off to live with them in her lowest? I need more of her. I want to see how she develops. I hope she’s got a story in the future, because some main players don’t even have a name but she does! I also fuck with Jurian but I don't think he's really a minor character.

Favourite ship? (Crackships included!)

Oh there’s just so many, I can’t keep up. I think my top three, however, would be Azris, Neris, and a secret third crackship that I cooked up, Eris x Azriel x Gwyn. I call them Azrisyn in my head. I’m working on a fic. It’s a whole thing. I think I just really like shipping people with Eris.

Favourite court and why?

Spring! I love the aesthetic and how deeply magical everything was. It truly was like entering a new realm, with a new creature and magical adventure at every turn. I'm also a Winter and Autumn enjoyer.

OH UHMM The Under Court. Just under the surface of Prythian, in a sprawling maze of tunnels and caverns, is a city carved of glowing stone and glistening gems. Because of the sheer size, this Court is divided into four sections, with each of these sections being overseen by a Stewart, who report directly to a (gasp) High Lady. They're called the High Council. Now I want to write this.

What relationship would you have wanted to see more of in the books?

Emerie and Azriel. Azriel has such an intense loathing for his people that it greatly effects his own view of himself. I want his arc to include him learning more about his culture, and overcoming that internalized bigotry. I want him to look into the face of someone who has been just as brutalized by the Illyrians as he has and realize that they are a people who need help out of the cycle of violence.

What's your unpopular opinion?

All of them, but my most unpopular one is probably that Cassian's wings should have stayed shredded. It made no sense for them to heal, and it would have added more to the story and his character (ie having a bridge to Nesta) to have him stay disabled.

What's your favourite headcanon/fan canon?

I love thinking about the faeries being more magical! I have a whole thread of eldritch horror-style High Lords and I think about it often. A less intense headcanon I have is that Eris has a gap in his front teeth and Gwyn has glowing freckles because I think its cute.

If you were swept away to Prythian, what's ONE thing you would want to do?

I’m shooting my shot with Lucien, so write that down. I also want to do the Winter Solstice in the Winter Court, because I feel like that would be so much fun. And then I’m moving to Dawn because I do not think I am surviving literally anywhere else. If the climates didn't kill me, the politics would.

If you could have ONE faerie ability seen in the books, which would it be?

If Helion's spell casting and cleaving don't count as one ability, then probably shapeshifting.

Born in 1987, Niko came into the world as the only child of a prominent family in the southern elite. He should have been the heir to their kingdom, but his parents had little interest in him, viewing him as nothing more than a means to preserve their family legacy.

Niko's childhood was a lonely one, spent in a grand but empty house. His toys and teddy bears became his closest companions, reminiscent of Christopher Robin's bond with Winnie the Pooh, one of his favorite cartoons.

Amidst this isolation, Camila, a young Mexican woman, served as Niko's nanny and beacon of warmth. She was beautiful and kind, and Niko adored her as the mother he had always yearned for. He followed her around the mansion, sharing stories and questions, forging a deep friendship with her.

As the years passed, Niko watched in anguish as his parents mistreated Camila, displaying cruelty and callousness. He couldn't comprehend their actions but knew they were wrong. When he dared to confront his parents, he was punished and sent to his room without dinner or toys. Yet, Camila always reassured him that everything would be okay, and he held onto her words as truth.

Tragically, one fateful night, Niko overheard adults shouting, and the next morning, Camila failed to appear. Days turned into an agonizing week, during which the little boy cried incessantly, demanding Camila's return. His parents made feeble attempts to console him, but their hearts were not in it. Instead, they concocted a lie, claiming Camila was a criminal who would never return.

Niko's heart toughened that summer. He abandoned childish games and tears, becoming silent and resolute. The boy who had adored Camila vanished alongside her.

Niko channeled his energy into academics and social observation. He excelled at school and soon became one of the most popular students, as he had learned to understand and manipulate people. This skill carried over to college, where he honed the art of influence without cruelty. The pain of losing Camila had darkened his heart, turning those around him into pawns to control.

Despite his manipulative tendencies, Niko found solace in his career. He channeled his experiences with Camila into a vow to defend the voiceless against the rich and powerful. With charm, manipulation, status, and wealth, he took on cases others avoided. This earned him a reputation as the most sought-after defense lawyer on the east coast. While lucrative cases poured in, Niko never forgot his commitment to helping those in need. He established a charity to support Briar Ridge and its surroundings, though he kept this side of his work mostly concealed, preferring the image of a formidable legal shark.

Currently, Niko faces a new battle. Throughout his life, he grappled with a personal struggle, hidden away with no one to confide in for advice or support. He couldn't even find words to describe it. His secret liaisons with other men on drunken nights in bed were a source of inner turmoil. To the world, he appeared as one of the most eligible southern bachelors, yet he feared that someone might discover his truth. It wasn't shame that plagued him but confusion. Fearing exposure, he relocated to Briar Ridge, still that lonely little boy in the big house, yearning to understand the complexities of his own identity.

Not really, but I have an easier time with characters I can project onto more lol

11. how'd you get the idea for your most recent wip?

Using the same one I used above: I noticed a lot of fairytales had witches doing spells with roses and I was like hmmmmm I can do something with that. And the other characters formed out of this poem by Christina George Rossetti:

The lily has a smooth stalk,

Will never hurt your hand;

But the rose upon her briar

Is lady of the land.

There's sweetness in an apple tree,

And profit in the corn;

But lady of all beauty

Is a rose upon a thorn.

When with moss and honey

She tips her bending briar,

And half unfolds her glowing heart,

She sets the world on fire.

The summer turns into fall, and Briar and Harry are living in their bubble of bliss. They’re professional when at Wynnewood, but a full-on domestic couple in private. Briar started her MBA, and Harry is thriving at work, finally finding the balance he’s been craving. 

Uncle Patrick has completely warmed up to the couple, inviting them over for dinner and drinks regularly. Harry continuously charms her Aunt Meredith, and bonds with each of her brothers, talking about golf, music, and Marvel movies. One day, Briar received a text from her Uncle Patrick; All 6 of her favorite guys smiling in a group photo on the 14th hole of Wynnewood. Her heart was positively bursting.
