I was going to wait until morning to post this because it’s 2:00 GMT and I need to sleep but goddamn fucking damn it, I’m so in love with this, it’s unreal. I wasn’t expecting much today, especially because I didn’t get much studying done and Giancarlo struck out like seven times and the Yankees lost, but this...this was a grand slam of its own. And I’m so excited about it, I couldn’t wait.

It changed my entire day. 

It might have made my year. Because it’s just so amazing.

I have a lot of awesome friends in this fandom, but @svenjaliv (also known as @winterbythesea) is just amazingly talented and so lovely. I cannot thank her enough for this sketch. She’s just so wonderfully talented and she captured Beth so perfectly from the hair down to the hook necklace. I am honest to god in love with the eyebrow quirk and the almost angry vibe. GAME THOUGHTS:

-The Canadian defense was really, really good in the first 60 minutes

-They caused a lot of problems for Williams and McDonald

-Christen had a rocket from about 1/3 down the field that nearly went in. At first we all thought it just barely hit the cross bar, but watching it again I think Labbé got a finger on it.

-Still, INCHES, literally inches from what would gave been goal of the tournament (goal of the tournament is still Press' so 🤷‍♀️)

-also Labbé very much deserves the golden glove for that

-USA kept pressing (lol) and eventually the Canadians just lost energy. They actually had more possesion during the game, but it was a lot of defensive work playing keep away from the US.

-Williams scored the game winning goal and a sigh of relief went through all of us (pls bring her to the olys)

-IMO the game got less interesting after this. Canada didn't really have any good responses to the first goal.

-only good chance by Canada was in the first half, which Naeher made a neat save on.

-after falling behind, they tried to change their formation to be more aggressive. Without the 5 person backline, it just made it easier for USA to get through though.

-The Williams assisted Rapinoe goal was a thing of beauty. Executed flawlessly (chef's kiss)

-At one point sonnet fell head over heels for absolutely no reason at all. Neither the ball or any other player were anywhere near her lol.

-Forward Kelley O'Hara??? That was awesome. She looked like she was enjoying herself out there.

-Sinc elbowed Krieger, but all in all it was a lot less physical than I expected the Canadians to be.

-Some people said Sinc was acting her injury but idk it looked like after she elbowed Krieger than fell and hit her head on the ground.

-PRESS GOLDEN BALL honestly I'm so glad she's getting the opportunity to show her skills and the recognition of her immpresive performances.

-the video of her giving the trophy to her dad brb I'm tearbending

-apparently Tobin just casually gave her medal to a fan and I don't even think they asked for it. She was just like "here take this".
