vance avoided griffin like the plague when he was first born but i feel like sometimes he’d just stand in the doorway to griffin’s nursery, staring at the crib like “erm” because he isnt used to having a baby brother yet

Headcanon: Vance doesn’t get his fighting skills from his father. He got them from his mother. He was surprised when Vance’s normally docile mother fought back violently, throwing bottles of perfume and other objects on her vanity. She even managed to tip the heavy piece of furniture over on him, momentarily pinning him to the floor. While he was temporarily incapacitated, she was able to snatch the dropped belt and beat him viciously with it, hitting in both the mouth and his crotch, stopping him cold and leaving him in pain on the bedroom floor with Vance. Vance thought it was “awesome” that she stood up to her abuser and aspired to be more like how she was in that incident

I feel like Vance was only around like. 1 or 2 when this happened so he doesn’t really remember it but his dad always talks about it when he’s bad mouthing Vance’s mom. Vance looks up to Bonnie SO much for this.

Personally, I like the idea of Vance and his mom having a good relationship with each other. I just like the idea of the scariest kid in Denver being a momma’s boy at heart. Plus, on the Brance side of things, it would show Bruce that there is some genuine good in Vance that would give him a reason to willingly approach him. As scary as Pinball Vance is, his ultimate goal is to help his mom

Sadly Vance and his mom’s relationship is a bit rocky considering Vance’s childhood but as Vance gets older he tries to put it behind him and realize Bonnie loves him more than anything.

But Bruce just is the type to see the good in people who are misunderstood, Vance included.

Headcanon: Vance and Griffin went missing essentially scared their mom straight. In her quest to find a man to love her nearly cost her the men that love her the most. As a result, once they’re returned to her, she straightens her life out and takes a more active role in their lives. While Griffin is embraces it fairly quickly, Vance has very mixed feelings about it that he’d be unable to put into words

I don’t really think Bonnie would have absent roles in their lives. She was on a rocky road until Vance was like 2-3 years old but she quickly got on to a better life style before Griffin was born. Vance still kinda holds it against her sometimes but he still loves her and wants Griffin to have a good life also.

I also don’t really think Bonnie would prioritize dating. Sure, she tries dating but she quickly puts that aside because she feels more than okay being by herself.

They’re not fully brothers, they’re half brothers.

They have the same mom, but they have different dads (both are absent surprise surprise)

Vance would literally DIE for Griffin he is so grateful to have a little brother like him
