Stiles: Dad, I'm talking about my negative thinking. Noah: I know what you're talking about. Remember what your grandfather used to say: "People waste their time pondering whether a glass is half empty or half full. Me, I just drink whatever's in the glass." Stiles: Dad, grandpa was a hopeless alcoholic who played boccie ball with an imaginary friend named Little Luigi. Noah: Kind of puts that dripping faucet in perspective, doesn't it?

I was the anon who sent the first message about Emily, and I did actually find another reference to her parents. In S2E07, Cordell comments to Stella on Granny Nancy, "your mom's mom," who was a college-educated, Boccie ball champion.
I'd also forgotten that little exchange you pointed out re: Emily's dad being a lawyer, and thought given that I realized that there's more that I should at least apologize for ranting to you about it and thank you for reminding me about that exchange. I'm wondering how much more I missed too! (I still do think I have to imagine that they've passed or something to make sense of how we never hear about them especially in S1 with all the emphasis on Emily's death, but they are mentioned more than I'd thought, and I'll own up to that)
Oh! I actually forgot about that! Thanks for reminding me anon!
There are a couple little nuggets about Emily's family but part of me wishes we'd gotten more.
It is most likely that they're dead although Extremely Estranged is also a possibility, like we got with William on Abby's side. But who knows? We'll just have to wait and see.

April 2023: It’s spring, baby, and we are busy as could be. This month flew by; I truly feel like I blinked, and it was over.
On Easter Sunday, Andrew and I drove out to the Carizza Plains to see the superbloom. We also saw some bison and so many influencers—what a treat!
I had a lovely girls’ weekend at the cabin, celebrating Olivia’s birthday. We braved the snow and mud in Calaveras Big Trees, drank at the old saloon in Columbia, and had a very funny/momentarily gross day in Murphy’s. A lady barfed at dinner and we will never forget it or stop talking about it.
The very next weekend, Andrew and I picked up Carly in Santa Barbara, and we all flew to visit my dad (and see Cheyenne) in South Carolina. It was a perfect weekend filled with so much homemade food by Jay, bocci ball, and general debauchery. We took a horse-drawn carriage tour of Charleston and had a lovely beach day on Edisto Island. We walked a lot and ate key lime pie, stayed up late and woke up early. It was great.
We spent the last weekend of April celebrating Evelyn’s first birthday and seeing friends. It was fun and hot and I’m very tired. I’m ready to (hopefully) catch my breath in May, rest as much as I can, and spend some time at home.
