Chapter 12 [Read Here]
CHAMPION Part III of Heavyweight a deancas boxing au by valleydean (emmbrancsxx0) read from the beginning | playlist
SUMMARY: Brooklyn, 1933. Dean Winchester, the number one contender, trains to become the next Heavyweight Champion of the World, and this time he won't let anything get in his way. Title holder Castiel Novak has second thoughts about retiring, especially when someone from his past arrives in New York and asks for his help. Meanwhile, a new contender rises to fame and threatens to complicate both of Dean and Cas' ambitions - and their relationship.
CHAPTER PREVIEW:
Dean shuffled his weight from foot to foot, his taped and gloved fists at his sides. He felt loose. He felt good as he stared down the black curtain in front of him, waiting for it to be pulled aside so he could enter the arena to a flurry of fans chanting his name.
He could already hear those fans roaring, warmed up from the undercard fights but still anticipating the main event. In the ring, the MC was giving the opening spiel.
Bobby was just behind Dean, and Victor was behind him. Benny stepped into place after he’d traveled down the curtain to peek outside.
“Full house,” he reported. “Standin’ room only. Looks like that tour’a Cas’ did us a favor.”
Dean’s gut tightened. He had to stop himself from saying that Cas wasn’t doing anybody but himself any favors. But that wasn’t a conversation he wanted to get into at the moment—or ever. He’d done a pretty good job at focusing on the fight ahead instead of the bout he’d had with Cas last night.
Cas was supposed to have his back. He wasn’t supposed to threaten to keep the belt just because he was pissed at Dean. As if it was something he could hold over Dean’s head like a carrot on a stick.
Well, tonight Dean would show him just how ready he was for the belt. He had his eyes on the prize.
He shook out again, his silk robe fluttering around his thighs.
Stay focused.
“Where the hell is Rufus?” Bobby complained. “We’re almost on.”
“Haven’t seen ‘im,” Victor said.
Benny added, “Got me.”
Dean didn’t turn around to look at them. He kept his eyes straight ahead on the curtain, ready and eager to step through it and into the ring.
That was until the other curtain to his right was swatted open and Rufus rushed through, breathing harried.
“Bobby, Bobby. We got a problem,” he panted.
Dean’s focus snapped to Rufus like a rubber band. He wheeled around.
“What problem?” Bobby demanded.
Rufus doubled over, hands on his knees to catch his breath. He shook his head and held one finger up to tell them to wait.
Dean’s tongue darted out to wet his lips. His eyes flashed to Bobby’s.
“Damn it, Rufus. Breathe faster,” Bobby ordered.
“The ref—Arty Nielson,” Rufus said, standing back up.
“Yeah, what about him?”
“He’s not here. Had some kind of family emergency. The NBA brought in a sub.”
Dean wasn’t even in the ring yet, but he felt like he’d just been punched in the sternum. He remembered what Cas had said about Luc finding a way to rig the fight. But Cas was wrong. He had to be. Dean was supposed to prove that to him.
This had to be a coincidence.
“Balls,” Bobby huffed. “With who?”
“Some new kid,” Rufus answered. “Name’s Mackey.”
“And they’re just telling us this now?” Bobby said, like he was accusing Rufus of something.
Rufus flung out his arms. “Don’t shoot the messenger! I ran my ass back here the second I heard.”
Bobby grumbled something under his breath before looking up at Dean. There was doubt in his eyes and Dean’s heart skipped a beat, thinking he was going to call off the fight.
No way Dean was letting that happen.
“Okay, fine. So, new ref. Doesn’t change anything,” Dean said firmly.
“Changes something. We haven’t vetted him yet!” Bobby argued.
The MC’s voice boomed over the microphone, “And now, ladies and gentlemen, entering the arena… From Brooklyn, New York…”
“Too late now. We just gotta roll with it,” Dean said. He ignored the ice forming in his gut. He could win this, no matter who the ref was. Lee had promised a fair fight. Dean wasn’t going to stop believing him now.
“Your King of King’s County,” the MC announced, “Dean Winchester!”
Dean faced forward again and slapped on his most charming smile just in time for the curtains to pull back. Whistles and roars lifted up from everyone in the audience, from the people pushing toward him behind the barriers to the ones in the boxes and nosebleeds. Cameras flashed. Horn music blared from the orchestra.
Dean pumped his gloves in the air as he walked toward the ring. Men reached over the barriers to clap him on the back. Women stroked their fingers across his jaw and shoulders. Hats and roses were tossed in his path.
As he got closer to the ring, he spotted Crowley among the NBA officials in their ringside seats. The judges’ table was directly next to them, and the commentator’s table next to that. The radio stations had their set-ups just behind, where more of the press was corralled.
Dean got to the front row of the ringside seats behind his corner. Cas looked around from his seat on the aisle, his expression neutral while he clapped, as if he was just going through the motions. Next to him, Jo and Charlie seemed a lot more enthusiastic. Charlie pumped her fist in the air. Jo whooped.
Dean saw Sam’s massive silhouette beside them. Sam stuck his fingers in his mouth and whistled before he resumed clapping. Dean could just make out Eileen’s figure behind him at the end of the row.
Jack and Kelly weren’t anywhere in sight, which was annoying, even if Dean had expected it.
Dean shot Cas a wink as he passed, which made Cas’ lips tighten fractionally. Glee thrummed through Dean in response.
He bounded up the steps and ducked into the ring, then fired the crowd up a little more by shadowboxing. Predictably, the entire place ate it up.
Dean caught sight of Layla all by her lonesome on Lee’s side of the ring. It was too bad she couldn’t have sat with the rest of their group. He smiled at her, and she put her hand over her heart to silently wish him good luck.
Soon, the music died down. Dean settled into his corner beside Rufus, Victor, and Benny.
The MC took the mic again and said, “And his challenger tonight at Carnegie Hall… From Queens, New York… Lee Webb!”
Applause filled the arena again, this time with some boos mixed in. The orchestra played a different but no less jaunty tune as Lee came through the curtain to bask in the fanfare. A few members of his team walked behind him. The spotlights strobed over them, revealing their faces in white light before sending them back into shadows.
When the lights circled back around, Dean spotted a face at the back of the group—and all the breath in his lungs left him. Suddenly, the only thing he could hear was the ringing in his ears.
In the spotlight, Luc’s grin was self-satisfied. His chin was held high, like he was already celebrating a victory. Then the lights moved again, and his face plunged back into darkness, leaving only his silhouette.
Dean’s body went numb.

Buck's Baby Deer
Buck has a daughter AU. You all love it. I know you do. Anyway her name is Calliope Buckley. And she's four years old. This takes place Post-Lawsuit(our favorite). Pretend the loft has two bedrooms, please. Jealous Eddie, of a male friend of Buck's who is flirty with everyone. So all in all, good fun. Might make a part two to this, but not immediately taking place after.
If you had told Buck that he would've ended up straining his relationship with the 118 more. He never would have officiated the lawsuit. Considered it, yes. He had a kid to think about.
Calliope Buckley. Buck's pride and joy. Truly, she was a sweet kid. She was smart, which she got from her mom, and had sass to her which came from Buck.
The swearing came from her staying up late without Buck knowing and watching what he was watching secretly. Rick and Morty is the favorite. Of course, she got grounded, but hey at least she never whines when she gets punished. Due to it happening often, and never being extreme punishments.
Also, she only does small things, like drawing on the wall. So then she can't have her crayons and markers for a week. Till she started with black pens, which artistically impressed Buck, and gave her stuff back.
Her mom? Well to put it simply, she didn't want kids. Well not yet. She didn't feel ready, but she told Buck because she knew how much he wanted his own family. She said she'd go through the pregnancy for him, but after that, they were done. Buck was heartbroken, but it was healed with a tiny baby with a birthmark running across their nose.
Reckless Buck had been mainly a ploy, yeah Abby had been a thing, and Ali had loved Calliope, but Calliope never liked the women that came. So after Taylor, he stopped dating.
Which, yeah probably got rid of free babysitter but he had Carla. Who swore to not tell anyone about Callie. That's how he ended up at the store that day. He needed to go buy kid snacks and nutritional values. And he picked up some cat stuff for his neighbor Caleb.
He had forgotten the 118 showed up there to get their supplies. It slipped his mind, especially with a hungry four-year-old wandering around inside because she saw Nemo flavored Oreos posters outside and couldn't help but run in to look for them.
"Because you're exhausting! We all have our own problems but you don't see us whining about it. Somehow we just manage to suck it up." Eddie yelled at him, that he was exhausting. It made him freeze. For one, the guy he liked, maybe even loved, hated him. Two, his daughter was around and he didn't want her to hear this. Especially cause it was true. At least to Buck, it was. Caleb had been great at making sure he knew how much he mattered.
But sometimes no matter how hard you helped, the brain would hotwire itself to not listen. His ears were ringing. Breathing was shaky and suddenly something exploded behind them. They ran out. Callie.
He grabbed her, grabbed the cookies, paid, and got the hell out of there. When Mackey told him they won and that the fire department wanted to give him 5.6 million dollars. He refused. He already had money from Callie's mom. Who was stupid rich, and gave him extra money than he needed for child support. How did Bobby and Maddie not know about this? Well it was in the files that weren't allowed to be shown to everyone, and Maddie hadn't probed questions at him while she was with Doug.
Callie's grandparents(maternal) were godsends. When he was too busy to make a flight for Callie, they would come and visit from Michigan. Good ole Harold and Ellie. Old but sturdy. Kind yet honest. Heart driven, yet logical.
When he denied the settlement, Chiefs Williams and Alfonso had called him in. Asking why he didn't take it. When he explained the lawsuit from his perspective, they told him they'd make Bobby let him back in. He agreed, only on the terms that no one got fired. He knew what Bobby did wasn't professional, but he didn't want the man to lose his job.
He had already given up on the idea of having his family back immediately. But that didn't matter. He needed money. He couldn't rely on others for it too much.
And he damn well wasn't going to get it from a settlement. He felt sick at the thought. So when he returned to work. He sucked up the way he was being treated.
Wasn't easy at first, but he'd been treated like this for most of his life. So he got used to it quickly. Callie was keeping him going, making sure to get up in the morning and to make food. For the both of them, because despite being young, Callie was an observant kid. Hen too, but she'd tried to keep the peace on both sides.
Guess the secret couldn't be kept any longer, as he was on a twelve-hour shift when Caleb called.
"Caleb?" He had been cleaning the kitchen counter. The 118 was dispersed everywhere throughout the station, but Eddie, Hen, Chim, and Bobby were in the dining area nearby.
Looking over, Eddie frowned his eyebrows. Who the hell was Caleb?
"Slow down-,... Shit. I'm on my way." Buck hung up the call and sped walked to Bobby. "I'm so sorry Cap, but I need to leave. Family emergency."
"What? Maddie didn't call." Chim said confused. Buck just rolled his eyes and continued talking. Taking the others aback.
"No, not Maddie, but someone who is family to me needs help and I can't wait around. Besides I only have thirty minutes left."
Contemplating for a brief minute, Bobby gave him the go-ahead. Giving his boss thanks, he ran downstairs, grabbed his duffle, and ran out. Didn't even bother changing out.
"Who'd you think needed help? I didn't even know he had other friends outside of us." Hen's questioning made Eddie and Bobby think. Had Buck ever mentioned anyone he knew outside of work?
-------------------------------------------
Heading to the hospital had been teasingly slow. Buck didn't know what exactly happened, but his daughter was there and needed a cast.
When he got there, he saw Caleb's car in the front. Luckily there was a spot next to it so he just parked there. Running in, he saw Caleb pacing around the waiting room. This guy is the guardian angel of his daughter.
"Caleb! What the hell happened?" Buck asked running up to his new best friend. Eddie had been demoted recently, which hurt Buck more than when he admitted to himself that he was in love with the man. Wasn't that hard of a realization as Caleb was studying to be a therapist and became a free one for Buck. He was gonna be great for younger kids.
"I'm so sorry, we were at the park and she was climbing the monkey bars like usual but some kids ran underneath her. I think she freaked and let go. She broke her list when she landed. I'm so sorry, Buck." Pulling the smaller man into a hug, Buck thanked him.
"You, confident Caleb, is worried? Relax, you did the right thing. Nothing worse happened so she's going to be okay. She's a tough nut to crack remember?"
"Yeah, she didn't fuss except when we were driving on our way to the hospital. Pulled out my phone to call you but she told me not to because it, 'Wasn't a big deal.'" Yup, his daughter all right. At that moment, the doctor came out.
"Family of Calliope Buckley." Both of the men walked up to her. "She's a brave and happy girl. She insisted on a cast with monster trucks on it." Chuckling softly, Buck just imagined his baby girl talking to the doctor casually as they were adjusting her broken wrist to fit into the cast.
"Yeah, that- that's Callie. My little warrior." Smiling at Buck the doctor extended out a hand. "I'm Callie's father by the way. Caleb is her godfather." The doctor smiled and read over her clipboard telling them what kind of pain meds she would need. Caleb, however, wasn't exactly listening. Godfather. Holy shit.
After the doctor told them she could have one of them go in, he gave Buck the go-ahead. They'd talk later, right now his friend needed to see his goddaughter. Damn, that feels good to say.
After a few minutes of waiting, the Buckleys walked out and Buck handed Callie off to Caleb to go check out. Walking out with the kid towards their cars he swung her around a bit, placed her on top of his hood, and just let her play games on his phone. She was good at Clash of Clans for a six-year-old.
When Buck walked out of the hospital, Caleb saw him look around to check for cars and when he turned right he froze. Then speed walked toward his daughter and best friend. Still half watching Callie, Caleb put her in the back seat of Bucks jeep.
"What happened?" He asked with Callies door still open. Her seat was always right behind Bucks. She liked being a tailgunner for some reason.
"The 118s here." Not wanting to look suspicious, Caleb pulled Buck into a hug with his eyes closed. Then when he opened his eyes as he was about to let go, he locked eyes with one of them. A relatively smaller guy who had brown hair and tanned skin. He looked confused. Mad? Who knows, but it wasn't happy.
"We'll talk about it later. Right now, this little fighter needs an ice cream." Callie shot out of her seat and yelled out.
"Fuck yeah!" Throwing their heads back, slightly looking around for parents who thought they were better, Caleb and Buck laughed at the six-year-old. Shaking his head, Caleb shriveled her hair and practiced his handshake with Buck. Then went into his pickup and drove off. Buck settled Callie down and told her to sit down. She did so immediately, already deciding what three flavors she could mix up conveniently.
Closing her door, Buck opened his door and drove off to the small ice cream business near his apartment to get their usuals for him and his small family. Meanwhile, the 118, specifically Eddie, watched him drive away.
-------------------------------------------
Watching Buck drive away with a kid was strange. Watching Buck with another man and kid, was even more strange. Was that Caleb? And who the hell was that kid Buck had in the back seat? After that, he decided to confront Buck about it next shift but then realized that Buck wouldn't be at work for another three days.
When he came to work the next morning, he noticed the small tension because no one could ask about what the hell they saw yesterday at the hospital parking lot. So they waited. And when the time came, Bobby said they were gonna have Bosko take over for Buck.
"He's on paid family leave." He explained but wouldn't go into detail.
"Why?" Eddie asked. Maddie wasn't hurt, or Chimney would be gone as well.
"Can't say. He told me not to. Leave it at that." For some reason, Bobby looked apprehensive. Which made Eddie more frustrated. He'd already dropped the street fighting. He didn't want to see Lena right now. So that's how he somehow found himself sitting in his car. In front of Buck's apartment building.
He hadn't decided if he wanted to go in, yet he was sitting out here like a stalker. In the end, he walked into the elevator and walked towards Buck's apartment. Taking a deep breath, he knocked on the door.
After what felt like the longest minutes, Eddie heard the door unlocking. His heart beating in his chest, preparing to face whatever was behind that door. Then it opened. It wasn't Buck opening the door no. But a guy slightly taller than Eddie, with darker skin, side shaves, and braids that went over the top of his head. He had muscle and yet looked so meek. Slight stubble and a scar on his right eyebrow.
"Can I help you hermoso?" His accent seemed Dominican. Shook, Eddie froze, till he heard a familiar voice.
"Eddie?" Behind the beautiful man blocking Eddie, was Buck. In a hoodie with basketball shorts and sneakers. The hoodie was not baggy, as it clung to Bucks biceps making it look like it was about to rip. "What are you doing here?"
"I-I thought you were alone."
"Daddy? Who's that?" A little girl behind both of the men walked out of the hall from the spare room. Okay, what the fuck? Eddie thought as he stumbled slightly and opted to leave. Buck followed him down the hall closing the door, leaving Caleb to distract Callie.
"Eddie! Eddie! You can't just show up, a-and not explain why you're here randomly at 3 p.m.." Buck said after pulling Eddie to a stop with a firm hand on the shoulder. Eddie spun around breathing rapidly.
"Me? Me not explain!? You have a kid that none of us know about!"
"Why does it matter?! You've done a really good job at pretending I'm not there at work." Not wanting a repeat of the grocery store, Buck left to go inside and left Eddie frozen in the apartment complex hallway. Unconsciously doing the same thing the older man had done to him.
Finding his way, Eddie headed home to his son. Who was playing online with his friends, so it gave Eddie an excuse to lie down on his bed. Staring up at his ceiling, Eddie contemplates back. To when he first met Buck. Then to the fire truck bombing and the backyard incident at Athena and Bobby's place. It had scared him so much that he had initially agreed with the idea of Buck staying away from the 118. Hell, the whole fire department.
But when he filed that stupid lawsuit, it hurt worse to have Buck out of reach. Then he came back. And Eddie did not want to talk to him. Despite his heart longing to and making it break every time he snarked at anything Buck said or did in his general vicinity. He was angry at Buck but hated himself for being angry at Buck. The street fighting had started as a good outlet to let out the anger. But it went too far, and he blamed Buck for not being there when he needed someone to bail him out.
Now it turns out he has a family. A daughter, he had said he'd be better at raising girls than boys, and a man who looked like the perfect,... husband? Buck never talked about sexuality. Sexual innuendos yeah, but anything else no. But that didn't make sense because he had dated a woman while working at the 118. Unless it was recent. Then that Caleb guy was most likely his boyfriend.
That absolutely didn't sting.
Eddie was his best friend and yet he didn't know Buck's sexuality. Except,.. they hadn't acted like best friends had they? They(Eddie) haven't talked about the lawsuit properly and how it affected everyone(them).
Thinking back to the little girl at the apartment, Eddie couldn't help the small fond look that formed on his face. She was definitely Buck's. Seeing as the blonde curly hair and birthmark over the nose didn't give it away, she had the specific head tilt and eyebrow raise Buck had when he asked questions before going down a rabbit hole of information.
The fond expression quickly vanished as he remembered her arm. She had a cast on. That explained Buck's Paid Family Leave. Eddie could agree with Buck on this one, kids come first.
-------------------------------------------
After the Eddie pop-up two weeks ago, came Hen and Karen. Caleb was babysitting his goddaughter when knocking from Buck's apartment three doors down was heard. Repeated knocking. Sighing, Caleb threw the hand towel he was using to wipe down the island of his kitchen over his shoulder and told Callie to stay in her playroom.
Peeking out into the hallway, Caleb saw two black women waiting in front of Buck's door. His Bob Marley Vinyl could be heard from outside, so it drew their attention.
"He's not home. He'll be back in thirty minutes." They nodded and looked back at the door. Then he walked up to him.
"Hey there, I'm Hen. This is my wife Karen." Hen greeted shaking Caleb's hand.
"Nice to meet you."
"Always glad to meet beautiful faces, I'm Caleb by the way. I'm Bucks best friend." Hen and Karen gained shocked looks at different things. They gave each other a look that Caleb couldn't describe and thanked him while walking down to the lobby of that floor.
Caleb could've sworn he heard, 'Eddie's not gonna like this.', but who cares. Callie wanted Neapolitan, and she was gonna have it goddammit. After thirty-five minutes, Caleb counted, Buck opened the door and joined them for ice cream.
After they finished, they stood up and got ready to relax in their apartments separately. When Callie went in she bolted towards her room to catch up on homework she had procrastinated on accident. She had a bad memory and would forget about when to do things.
"Oh yeah, these women came by earlier. They said they were Hen and Karen?" Buck's eye widened. Then his eyebrows furrowed slightly in thought.
"They're friends through work. Why'd they come here?"
"Not sure, but they weren't happy about me saying I was your best friend. They said Eddie wouldn't be happy." Weird, they said goodbye and continued their normal weekend routine like normal. With Buck being off work for a bit and Caleb off at his work as a mechanic for big trucks, Buck decided to take Callie to the mall. She loved Hot Topic, especially with all the new pins and Bluey merch Buck told her they got.
He wanted the anime and Coraline merch they had. When they got there, they quickly went to Barnes & Noble for a gift card for Caleb's birthday and to look for Vinyls that they wanted. They ended up getting one from Bob Marley and a CD from multiple oldies artists. Callie had gotten a CD player for her birthday a few weeks back so it was perfect timing.
Though she did like her dad's music, she wanted her favorites that she had heard from Buck's Spotify and put on a special playlist for her. Heading to Hot Topic, they browsed the store together. They found some cool earrings that were based on space that Callie liked. So Buck got the punk leather bracelet pack to get another piece of jewelry for half off.
Once leaving the store, they went to the food court and ordered a pizza for the two of them. Pepperoni on one half and sausage and olives on the other. Buck got his pizza whilst Callie ate her olives individually before eating the slices. A habit that she developed from when she was a baby. Olives were always eaten separately.
After they were finished, they put the tray on the stand above the trash can and then left to go back home. Getting boba on the way though. Callie claimed that her stomach needed some liquid to calm the food in her stomach.
They got out of the car, ordered, and sat at the tables outside to enjoy the warm sun cascading down. This made everything worth it to Buck, all it was missing was,... well.
"Buck?" Hearing that voice in particular made his heart beat fast. Whether from fear or feelings. Either way, he didn't want to deal with this. "And little girl."
"Who you calling little?"
"H-Hey now, Callie, remember what I told you?" Sighing, the sassy child responded.
"'Not to speak disrespectfully to anyone you don't know.' She had used a deeper voice to repeat her father's words. "I know, I'll try to be better."
"I know." Buck's gentle reply did something to Eddie that he wasn't ready to admit yet. Turning back to Eddie, Buck asked him why he was there.
"I came to pick up and order Chim did online for us. Didn't know you'd be here, I swear." Buck just said it was fine and to ignore it. But Eddie couldn't. He went inside, grabbed the five drinks, and walked back to his truck. He placed the drinks in the passenger seat momentarily before walking back to the father-daughter duo. "Look, I know you probably don't want to talk to me after what happened at your apartment, but I need to get something off my chest."
"Is it about that overused grey shirt that's probably been through more flannels than you have relationships?"
"Callie."
"I said I'd try to be better."
Dang, Callie had some attitude. It was oddly loveable. Hearing Buck sigh and seeing him get up gave Eddie the go-ahead to speak.
"You were right. I wasn't there for you after the truck ladder. I didn't try to understand the lawsuit or your side of the story. Hell, I did the opposite and indulged in street fighting." A look from Buck made him feel smaller than he already was. "I stopped, don't worry. Anyway,... I messed up. We all did. But especially me. I promised I'd have your back and I didn't. And I swear that right here right now, if you're willing to let me, I will spend the rest of my life trying to make up for it. Calling you exhausting was the worst thing I could have done. Especially because it's not true, you've helped me out a lot with Christopher. And you were taking care of your daughter to add to everything else! I'm not asking for forgiveness but I am offering it to you. And even if you don't want to, I want you and Christopher to be able to hang out again. I want Christopher and your daughter to properly meet and for your boyfriend-"
"Boyfriend? Caleb's my best friend, not boyfriend." Oh. That hurt a little less than Eddie thought it would.
"Oh, well, good to know. And for you. Buck, you deserve someone who will be there for you. Platonic or not. Assuming that Maddie doesn't know yet, I won't say anything to the others about her." With that, Eddie began to walk off. Till a hand got placed on his shoulder.
"I don't forgive you yet. But I'd like to try." Letting out a sigh of relief, Eddie nodded and drove off. Quickly wiping his tears before getting out of his truck and walking inside Bobby and Athena's house. It was a start.
If he wanted his friend back, he'd have to work for it. He'd die for Buck. He'd make that clear.
-------------------------------------------
The day after the boba apology, Buck had considered introducing Callie to the 118. Only his close friends. With Caleb there for support. And to officially introduce him as the godfather to Callie. He didn't want to make anything official yet though. He wanted to get her opinion first.
"Okay." Easier than he thought.
"You sure kiddo? You've only heard stories about them." Calliope was mature for her age, but she was still a kid. He didn't want to force her into something that would make her uncomfortable.
"I mean, I'm not happy it took this long. Especially if I can have friends after school." Buck hadn't let her have friends come over from her school. The only reason was he didn't want his parents being bitchy or weird towards him and Carla about why he didn't stay home. Or why the mom wasn't around. "But Pops told me that sometimes people take time to adjust to changes. Like how I had to get used to wearing normal shoes and not light-ups all the time."
Buck didn't think he deserved her, but Caleb and Carla had reinforced multiple times that they weren't one without the other.
"Alright. I'll tell them to come over tomorrow. Is that fine?" With a small head nod, he shot a text to the group chat and one separate to Eddie. Saying to bring Chris to keep Callie comfortable. He then went over to Caleb's with Callie and spent the afternoon there.
After sending the text messages, ten minutes later Buck's phone started going off. With responses to the invitation to his apartment. They all had accepted.
-------------------------------------------
118🚒
Hen:
Sure, got nothing going on
Tried swinging by earlier and you weren't there
Chim:
Down to go, wanna bring Maddie
Is that okay?
Buck:
Yeah that's fine
Bobby:
I'll be there, Athena will be too
Hen:
Karen will be working so I'm flying solo tmr
Eddie:
I'll be there
-------------------------------------------
Eddie
Hey thanks for the invite, Chris will be there too
Good to know, I was thinking of making pasta or ordering
Just order pizzas, we'll be fine
Alright, see you tmr
-------------------------------------------
A few minutes after the pizzas arrived, so did their visitors. Callie claimed that she had to make a good impression on Athena. So Buck styled her hair in Dutch braids and put on her best green shoes paired with her black overalls and striped yellow shirt.
She set out a LEGO box of Hogwarts on the coffee table for her and Chris to build together while the adults talked. When knocking was heard at the door, Callie and Buck got ready to receive them. All of them arrived near the same time so they decided to walk in together.
Taking a deep breath, Buck opened the door and smiled at them. However, their attention was quickly drawn to a young girl's voice yelling.
"Surprise bitches!" Callie was doing a dramatic pose whilst wearing sunglasses that Buck had bought a while back. They looked comically huge but somehow they went with the outfit. As they walked in, they all had shocked faces. Except Bobby, Athena, and Eddie. Caleb was still in his place fixing something with his sink.
"Guys, meet Calliope Buckley. My daughter of six years old." Maddie looked distraught yet enamored. Hen looked like she wanted to kill Buck but hugged the hell out of Callie. Chris was shaking with excitement. Chim was looking between father and daughter. Probably making comparisons in his head. Athena was smiling with a fond look in her eyes.
Bobby had probably told Athena about her already, which was fine, but the look Bobby had was heartwarming. Eddie had a small smile on his face and glanced at Buck.
"What?" Maddie asked looking to Buck for answers. But before he could answer, Callie began chatting with Chris.
"Hi, I'm Callie."
"I'm Chris."
"Wanna build a LEGO Hogwarts?"
"YEAH!"
As the kids walked away and sat at the coffee table, Buck led the adults away as best he could from the kids.
"Questions and theories, I know. But right now, have some pizza." So they did, and while they were serving, Caleb walked in.
"Hey lovely's. How's it going?"
"About to explain." They all looked at him to continue and not leave them on edge. Breathing in a sigh, he started talking. "A few years back, I met a girl. She was sweet and cool and I thought we had something special. Then, she got pregnant and she explained to me that she didn't want kids. I respected it and decided to break it off. She had Callie because she knew how much I wanted kids. I was a teen dad by technicality. Callie's grandparents took care of her while I lived with my mom and dad. After I got my job here, I was able to have her move in with me." Waiting for it to register in their heads, he silently let them ask questions. Then Chim raised his head.
"So, who's mom?"
"Penelope Smith. She has a master's in medicine and is a practitioner for athletes specifically. She sends me money when she can. Doesn't mean I don't have to work though."
"Grandparents are sweet. They come to visit from Michigan when they can." At Maddie's eyebrow raised Buck explained further.
"After having Callie, they moved to Michigan for Pen's college and to raise Callie in a more communal area. Meanwhile, I went off to travel. Mainly to get my parents off my ass. I didn't want to at first but Harold and Ellie told me to go for it."
"Nah, Harold practically dragged you into that Jeep." Laughing at the memory the 118 smiled at the pair. Eddie too, his was just dimmed slightly.
Running into the kitchen, Callie looked up at Buck.
"Can we get our slices? Me and Chris want to multitask." Earning smiles from everyone in the kitchen, Buck got four slices and put two on each plate. He turned around and sighed at his family.
"Who's hungry?"

Tag 3 People You Want To Get To Know Better
I was tagged in a get to know you thing by @kwamisalami and HEY I don’t have a lot to do cries so I figured why not. I also don't know 9 people, so I'm changing this to, like, 3. Honestly this feels less like a "get to know you" and more like a "hey what's up" text you send when you need a distraction (both are good).
Currently Reading: Fun fact about me is I actually can’t read
Favorite color: Don’t have one! I tend to switch it up.
Last Song: How I Survived Bobby Mackey’s Personal Hell (honorable mention to Hozier’s cover of Do I Wanna Know? Because I see the name of that song and I have to go listen to it immediately)
Last Movie: Into the Spiderverse. Before that was Bones And All.
Sweet/Spicy/Savory: I eat spicy ramen for breakfast more than I should, eat sweets more than I should, and really enjoy savory Japanese Curry. Don’t make the three bad bitches fight each other.
Currently working on: Contact, a FeLuka (sorta) post-apocalypse AU. It’s more accurate to say it’s beating me up rather than the other way around
Bonus: people are charmed by my swagless looks and cringe fail personality
Tagging @quickspinner, @goldenlaurelleaveswrites, aaand @mintaka14 :>
#2 a.m. talk#I really don't watch movies that often i'll be honest#i've been trying to get better about that#even what i listed was a month or two ago#i think before that i watched silence of the lambs#and...i cant remember before that#rip

Bobby Mackey's
warning for kind of existential talk about cities turning into ghost towns, talk of the paranormal, talk of hell, kind of creepy stuff in general. this is an au based off the real place, bobby mackey's, but watered down to spare my own sanity and fused with las nevadas!
read it on ao3
Bobby Mackey’s wasn’t always called Bobby Mackey’s, you know. The city has been many things to many people, and many names to them. To you and me, the place is Bobby Mackey’s: a city filled with ghosts. It’s frightening enough without the spirits, and worse, the stories—but visiting it and feeling the melancholy (as well as sometimes a gust of wind that maybe shouldn’t have been there) is worse.
Before your time, or even mine, the city was full of life. It was a new city booming with those who dreamed of wealth and fame—and those who wanted to run from it. It was easy to make it big, and easier to lose it all. After all, the house always wins.
The man who built the city called it Las Nevadas. When you first entered, it was said to seem normal enough—bars played sports games on televisions and served drinks at high prices, clubs blared loud music and featured dancers for those who wished to observe as well as spaces to dance for those who wanted to participate.
However, when you took a closer look, you noticed odd things. Restaurants with signs reading “Closed Forever.” Explosion holes in the ground. Empty chests. Holes in walls leading to unfurnished, empty establishments. Blank stares of the same few employees you found in every store over and over again.
It’s rumoured that the man who created Las Nevadas was quite involved with the paranormal, as well, perhaps explaining why the city is so active with ghosts now. Some say that the rival burger company just outside Las Nevadas city limits was run by Quackity’s undead rival from the past. Others speculate that Las Nevadas being built directly over an alleged portal to hell was no accident. Quackity supposedly visited Limbo to see his ex fiancé at least once, and people theorize that he picked the entry to Limbo to make the journey easier on himself. After all, the man who created the portal by crawling out of hell himself, Jack Manifold, certainly wanted nothing to do with the site of his suffering. And Quackity had grown skilled at working with the leftovers of others’ successes.
Believe it or not, Quackity had been part of a violent government agency before his creation of Las Nevadas. Multiple, in fact. He was vice president of a country called Manberg, which exiled people, practically enslaved citizens, and executed people with neither trials nor warnings. Then he was Vice President of New L’manberg—a mostly peaceful nation, except for when the Butcher Army was created to hunt down individuals compromising national security and publicly execute them.
Nowadays, he’s gone. Dead. Down in hell with his fiancé, and everyone else he knew. No one knows much more about him or his life anymore, besides what’s in the history books and museums. However, after his final death, the history of Las Nevadas continues.
After Quackity died, Las Nevadas continued to do business, keeping its doors wide open for anyone interested. Establishments changed and grew dated, and over time things in the big city of gambling seemed less interesting to the young folk of the world. The new shininess people had cherished before had tarnished, and no one cared enough about the city to clean off the metal. People stopped coming, and Las Nevadas became a ghost town.
Somewhere in that time frame, between the booming business and the rusting lack of appeal, the rival burger van just outside the city limits was renamed Bobby Mackey’s in a change of ownership. As everything inside the city lost its glow and emptied of life, Bobby Mackey’s became the only name worth remembering. The city limits were forgotten, old skirmishes forgiven. Bobby Mackey’s became the only name worth mentioning, effectively renaming an entire city.
Still, today, people visit Las Nevadas. It’s a tourist attraction, now—a ghost town filled with real ghosts. The economy of the city has changed, and what brought people there then no longer brings them there now. Before, it was a place about living life to the fullest. Now, it’s a place you go to experience the closest you’ll ever get to death without actually dying.
And still, whether in the past or the present, it’s always a gamble to visit Las Nevadas.
WOO I WROTE AGAIN!!! RBS APPRECIATED!!! <33

Buddie Moodboard Masterpost
A thing I tend to do for my own convenience, which is to say: My memory is sh** and I tend to forget projects I’ve already done. So in case anyone’s looking for some of the rando Buddie moodboards I’ve done, here’s where you find them. Hopefully.
Looking for more shenanigan? Then check out my Incorrect Buddie quotes collection.
Buck, the Wedding Planner – A not so cautionary tale of Evan Buckley planning his sister’s wedding, creeping everyone (the happy couple included) out, all the while battling his not unrequited feelings for Eddie...
The Lake House AU – Fed up with receiving his previous tenant's mail, Eddie writes a letter to said tenant to let him know it'd be appreciated if he updated his address. The confusion is great, as he gets a letter back from a guy named Buck who claims to live in the same house by the lake. Turns out they do, just in different times...
LAPD Consultant Evan Buckley and (Not) Personal Assistant Eddie Diaz – A bit of Elementary, a dash of Sherlock Holmes, and a whole lot of nonsense. As part of a personal deal with Sergeant Grant for his illegal underground fighting, Eddie is bound with babysitting one of L.A.'s best and most obnoxious consultants for the LAPD, Evan Buckley. Eddie is tasked to make sure Buck sticks with his treatment regimen, and Buck makes it his personal obligation to make sure Eddie quits. Fast...
No Reservations AU – The one tale wherein Eddie is actually a stellar chef, trying to balance raising his son alone after his wife died, leading a kitchen on his own, and putting up with his new sous chef and former food blogger by the name of Buck...
Being Human AU – An abstinent vampire and single dad, an anxious werewolf working as an orderly at the local hospital, and an amnesic ghost living under one roof? What could possibly go wrong? As Eddie, Buck, and Danny have to find out, a whole lot, actually...
The Baseball AU No One Asked For – Title has it. Bobby enlists Eddie to get the 118 ready for the upcoming baseball tournament for L.A.'s firehouses. Eddie does not know what he's been led into, as his teammates, and Buck in particular, make a sport of it not doing the sport he loves so much...
Castle AU – Working for the LAPD prepared Eddie for many things, but it really didn't ready him for the author B.A. Roo, his actual name's Buck, to tag along on his investigations to get some inspiration for his newest novel. Because said author was stupid enough to kill off the main character in his very successful series not too long ago...
Runaway Jury AU – Lawyer and jury consultant Chase Mackey is in for a big surprise on his latest case, as it is yet to be determined whether the City of Los Angeles is liable for negligence when it comes to the tsunami that hit the city about a year ago. Because what he believes to be a lucky coincidence, a young man who has beef with the city anyway to get stuck on jury duty, turns out to be part of a group making Mackey an offer hard to refuse: 10 million dollars for the verdict...
French Kiss AU – Because I am trash for the movie, simple as that. Still recovering from his leg injury, Buck travels to Mexico to find Abby after she sent him a cryptic letter. Chaos ensues, because of course it does, leaving him stranded in Mexico, with a guy named Eddie who smuggled plants in his luggage. At least it wasn't drugs...
Six Days Seven Nights AU – Did y'all realize I'm trash for those movies? If not, here's to another. Eddie just wants to get off a tropical island, fast, to get back to his son. While not at all fond of flying in small planes, Eddie will go as far as take the risk a flight with pilot Buck. It seems to be his luck that they get caught up in a storm and crash on an island off the grid. Because of course it does...
Erin Brockovich AU - Seriously an AU no one asked for, yet here we are. Eddie is a single dad trying to make ends meet, especially after he got into an accident and lost the lawsuit. He forces his lawyer Bobby to hire him as a secretary, only to stumble upon a case involving pollution of the water supply of an entire city. He receives unexpected help in more than one way from a biker called Buck moving in next door...
The Bourne Identity AU - The story follows a man who doesn't know who he was before he woke up on a fisher boat about six months ago, shot into the back several times. Trying to find out the truth of his identity and the reasons why he is expert for multiple language and combat, he travels to L.A. He runs into kind-hearted veteran Eddie, who helps him put some puzzle pieces together. Buck is not the only one trying to find himself, as he is chased by a government agency that stops at nothing, thus endangering everyone Buck came to know, including Eddie...
Supernatural AU - No matter what the source material turned out to be, I'm channelling my first fandom experiences with this AU. Eddie is living a normal life until hunter Buck winds up fighting a ghost in his very own living room. As it turns out, demons and ghosts are real - and people like Buck and his friends fight them. Buck is pursuing a yellow-eyed demon seemingly after Christopher like he was after Buck's brother Daniel. This prompts Eddie to join Buck in the hunting business to keep his son safe...
Jurassic Park AU - Christopher lies to his father, so not to miss out on his chance to live dinosaurs at Jurassic Park. When Eddie realizes where his son is, he boards the first plane to take him to that damned park. Animal trainer Buck tries to convince the owners of Jurassic Park to finally let the program run its course and leave the remaining dinosaurs to live out their last days in peace. But all hell breaks loose when unaccounted dinosaurs make their appearance at the park. In turn, Buck is bound to get a disabled kid and his fussing dad out of the park before the pterosaurs can eat them...
Pearl Harbor AU - Eddie and Buck are best friends since childhood. Both dreaming to be pilots, enlisting together feels like a dream come true. But the dream may soon turn to a nightmare when Buck leaves for Britain to fight the Luftwaffe, only for horrid news to get back to Eddie and the family they found along the way...
Forever AU - When Eddie and Buck start on the very same day at the 118, hardly anyone could have foreseen just how much the two would wind up having in common. Both have a son of their own. It's just that Buck's son Red is past his seventies, while Christopher is not even ten years old. Oh, and then there is this small detail, also: Buck is way past his 300, but who's counting when you have lived so many lives and died a good number of times, too...?
Modern Mary Poppins AU - Yet another AU no one asked for, exploring a strange journey of single father Eddie Diaz getting himself a most unconventional nanny for his son named Buck. Because if Eddie didn't know any better, he'd have to think Buck actually is kind of magical...
Pacific Rim AU - Because of course it was bound to happen. Eddie Diaz, former Ranger now single dad trying his best to keep his son safe in a world full of Kaiju coming from down below, finds himself back in the place he never wanted to see again. His former partner Buck is looking for a new partner to operate their Jaeger Lucky Nova. As part of the Lazarus Project, they hope to use the old Mark-3 Jaegers to close the Breach. Eddie is none too pleased, finding himself stuck in the dilemma that made him leave: The threat of losing Buck...
Chat Friends (to Lovers) AU - Eddie was honestly just looking for some now almost old-fashioned comfort in a chat room, to talk about his thoughts and feelings without the pressure of actually saying it to someone he knows. When "Firehose" Buck joins the chat, things take a sudden turn. Because soon enough, talking to Buck online is such an integral part of Eddie's life that he wants to take it to the real world, but for some strange reason, Buck dodges the topic. But Eddie is determined to find out why...
Star Wars AU - Buck and Eddie dreamed a lot of different dreams, growing up. Sadly, the couple's greatest dream was short-lived, but they still fight for it to come back. As part of the New Resistance, they are determined to do whatever it takes to protect the people they love. General Nash devises a plan to keep the Liberation Army from overthrowing a weakened senate and establishing once again militaristic rule under a regime running on nothing but false promises. They will do whatever it takes, to fight for hope to begin again...
Star Trek AU - Lieutenants Evan "Buck" Buckley and Eddie Diaz may have had a bit of a rough start onboard the USS Enterprise NCC-118, but since then they have proven themselves as one of the most capable teams, on the job and outside it. While discovering new life forms and find uncharted territories is a dream come true for both, it remains a dangerous job. And in a galaxy wherein a certain species is out to assimilate any other form of life, an otherwise happy life can take a turn for the worse fast...
Enchanted AU - Single dad Eddie Diaz is in for the surprise of his life when he runs into a real-life Disney prince who calls himself Buck. And no, Buck is not insane or hit his head too hard, he really is from a magical world he needs to get back to to reunite with his sister. Buck, set on finding his "happily ever after", tries his best to navigate this most magical land called Los Angeles. Though maybe his happily ever after is not at all what he thought it to be. And of course, there are a lot of unprompted musical numbers in it...
Soldier and War Correspondent AU - While deployed in Afghanistan, Eddie makes the acquaintance of war correspondent Evan "Buck" Buckley. The two develop a great friendship, but after Eddie is injured on his last mission before his son's birth, the two have to part ways. Eddie soon finds his marriage and shambles, doing his best to raise his son by himself. Though Eddie is in for the shock of his life when a journalist friend of Buck's, Taylor Kelly, reports about an incident in Kandahar: People have been taken hostage, and among them is the man who has been on his mind since, Buck...
Mr. & Mrs. Smith AU - An AU no one asked for, really, but here it goes anyway. Eddie and Buck Diaz are the perfect couple, raising Eddie's son together. What neither man knows is that they are both actually spies for opposite secret government agencies. That is until they are assigned the same target, which may take more than some marriage counseling to figure out...
The Eagle AU - In celebration of this very gay movie still pretending to be straight... Edmundus returns from the battle against the Northern tribes wounded, with his Ninth Legion and the Eagle gone. While he recuperates at Robertus' villa in Calleva, the two rescue a slave named Buck, a Brigante who thinks very little of Rome and its people, Robertus and Edmundus included. When Christophorus is taken in exchange for the return of the Eagle, Edmundus and Buck set out on a dangerous quest behind Hadrian's Wall...
Stardust AU - After his wife left Wall, Eddie is determined to make things right with her by catching a fallen star. Curiously so, the fallen star doesn't turn out to be a precious metal rock, but... a very loud, very displeased young man referring to himself as Buck, who is much more preoccupied with finding his sister than he is about this stubborn man trying to win his wife back. Little do they know that Eddie is not the only one set on possessing a fallen star...
Emergency Room AU - Trauma surgeons who are badass under pressure, Dr. Evan "Buck" Buckley and Dr. Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz, have since become known as the ER's dream team. While they were off to a rocky start, the two since developed not just a perfect synchrony on the job, but a deeply felt friendship... and perhaps a little more than that. But with the life they chose, the conclusion of what to do with that may not be as straightforward as the treatments for their patients tend to be...
27 Dresses AU - Because sure, what everyone needed was another wedding planner!Buck moodboard. Be it no matter: Buck is the perfect best man, helping his friends plan their weddings - and now even his sister's. His life is quite shaken through when his favorite writer for the Commitments section turns out to be nothing like Buck imagined E. Diaz to be. Because Eddie may write about weddings for a living, but to him, it is just nonsense. Though Buck remains determined to prove him wrong, for better or worse...
Bones AU - Evan "Buck" Buckley, famous forensic anthropologist/entomologist, and his team are working together to tell the stories of the dead. Albeit begrudgingly at first, Buck teams up with Special Agent Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz to help solve murder cases for the FBI. After all, Bobby gets to call the shots as the head of the Jeffersonian. While the two soon develop a great partnership and a deep friendship, they each have their skeletons in the closet (more than an anthropologist tends to have). And sadly, burgeoning feelings always at the wrong time don't help with solving those mysteries at all...
The Man in the Iron Mask AU - the steampunk version no one ever asked for. Buck resigned himself to the fate of dying in some faraway prison, wearing the mask that has covered his face for years. That is until a handsome priest comes as a replacement to take their confessions. And said priest turns out to be part of a resistance. Eddie's friends plan to overthrow the Baron and replace him with the rightful heir... who is Buck, apparently.
Film Noir AU - Private investigator Evan "Buck" Buckley and his assistant (note: not secretary) Edmundo "Eddie" Diaz run a small private agency in Los Angeles together. Eddie is still determined to find out what happened to his wife, which is what Buck is helping him with in exchange for his services. But their latest investigation may put not just their partnership on the job to the test...
Coast guard AU – Buck and Eddie are two of the top rescue swimmers around L.A. Both are part of the Aviation Survival Technician program, dedicated to saving lives. Though along the way, they often end up saving each other, in and outside the water. But with a job like this, tomorrow is never granted, a tough lesson both have to learn the very hard way…
Harry Potter AU – Eddie Diaz is in for a grand surprise when someone crashes through his roof. Because that certain someone is no other than Evan “Buck” Buckley, his childhood friend and “Wizard Extraordinaire” who took a rough fall from his broom during a chase. Because there is a well-kept secret in the Diaz household: Eddie is a wizard, just like Buck. And before he knows what's happening, Eddie finds himself embarking on a journey back to the world he left behind to be with his family – to keep his family safe…
The Wedding Date AU – Eddie’s plan is absolutely waterproof. Because he somehow has to get through his sister’s wedding in Mexico without his parents trying to snatch Christopher from him again. With a distraction of a lifetime – by announcing that he is engaged to a man now. While Eddie does feel attraction to men, he is not actually engaged to one. Meet Buck, L.A.'s finest pretend-boyfriend, pretend-fiancé, pretend-husband, whatever you want him to be, who will pose as his fiancé at that wedding. Really, this plan can't possibly go wrong, can it? Can it…?
Superpowers AU – The 118 is in for the surprise of their lives. After they got caught up in the midst of a mysterious storm during a call, all have felt a little off. But things take a sudden turn when a very desperate Chimney calls Hen, explaining to her that he has been running at the “speed of light” for hours and can't seem to stop. As it turns out, everyone who was in the storm now has special abilities. And they can be very dangerous, as they are about to find out…
Horror House AU - AKA of course I had to do some good old Halloween horror for this time of the year as well. When the 118 is called to an old house outside the city, Buck and Eddie are separated from the rest of the crew and can't seem to get out. To make matters worse, they are not alone there. Though whatever it is that is with them in the house has terrifying plans for them both...
Eureka Seven AU - Former soldiers turned rebels as part of the crew of the Aion 118, Buck and Eddie don't just navigate their LFO Jabberwocky together, they also have to navigate their more than complicated no-strings-attached kind of relationship. To make matters impossibly worse, Buck discovers a dark family secret that may force him not just away from the Aion, his family, but from the planet. Even though said planet contains the entirety of his universe revolving around Christopher and Eddie...
Criminal Minds AU - Eddie joins a BAU team led by Bobby Nash. He gets off to a rocky start with the youngest member of the team, Buck. But once Buck understands that Eddie is exactly what he seems, a nice, compassionate person and capable agent, he is more than ready to accept Eddie into his life, on and off the job. The team must hold on to each other, though, as the evil residing in many peoples' minds may very well mean their downfall any of these days...
Red, White & Royal Blue AU - American Vice President Eddie Diaz and Prince Evan, Prince of Wales and future King of the United Kingdom, are clashing yet again. While Princess Madeleine's wedding to Eddie's friend Howard "Chimney" Han should be a happy occasion for both, their longstanding feud won't take a break even on that occasion. When their quarrels culminate with both of them covered in cake a the party, both have to work together to save face. And somewhere along the way, the two find out that they might mean much more to each other than it first seemed...

Warning: Major Character Death
AU: What if Eddie and Buck hadn't made up after the lawsuit?
it is a prompt, my dudes, not a fic. Just a fair warning 🖤
Chimney and Hen were the only ones to support Buck after the lawsuit debacle. They knew what it’s like, considering their past experience with discrimination in a workplace. They never faulted him for suing Bobby. They did think that he should have gone to the labor union about this matter, though. Chase Mackey certainly was not a sound option, but what’s done is done.
Bobby definitely had issues concerning his past, and he let it bleed into his everyday life and then into work. Despite what everyone was saying, he was not Buck’s father. He was his boss first, and friend second. He had no right keeping Evan from work, and then lying about it to his face.
Eddie definitely has his own personal issues. His life was a mess. What happened between him and his late wife, his parents trying to take Christopher back to El Paso, and then the tsunami. It is understandable that he might be depressed or close to it. What is not understandable is shutting his best friend out. He was not really supportive after the truck incident, only Maddie, Hen and Chim were visiting Buck frequently, as much as they could at least. Eddie showed up only once with Christopher and then look what happened.
Then the lawsuit happened, and Eddie took it as a personal offense, being all hypocritical about Buck abandoning him and Chris, when, in fact, it was Eddie who left him first.
The lawsuit ended.
Bobby left Buck to do chores, not letting him on calls, completely disregarding the fact that they basically were one man down that way, which put the whole team in danger. But the man let his personal issues muddle into work.
Eddie was street fighting. He thought he had everything under control. He still ignored Buck and hadn’t let him see Christopher. Eddie didn’t know that Maddie, Buck, Carla, Abuela and Pepa kept meeting in secret during and after the lawsuit. That way Buck could still be there for Christopher. Eddie didn’t notice that Chris stopped asking for Buck shortly after that fight in a grocery store, too much preoccupied with street fighting.
One night, just before Eddie’s match (the one where he almost killed a man) Buck called. He ignored it.
He left a message:
I need you
Eddie got angry and bitter. He didn’t mean what he wrote next:
Well, too bad, Buckley, but I don’t need you. And neither does Christopher
That night he got more missed calls. One from unknown number. Five from Maddie. Two from Chim. Ten missed calls from Abuela. One from Hen.
It was not until morning when he went to pick up Chris from Abuela that he found out.
Christopher was absent. Abuela and Pepa were crying and Eddie started panicking. Did something happened to his son?
And then he saw Maddie. She was there too, looking completely wrecked and numb. She had a broken arm and God knows what.
His heart sank, something horrible happened. At the back of his mind he had an inkling of what it is. Buck wasn’t here. He did not want to believe it. He can’t.
And then Maddie started talking.
Maddie and Buck got in a car accident. Maddie was unconscious most of the time. She woke up when they arrived at the hospital. Buck did not. The hospital tried to call Eddie since he was his second emergency contact. Maddie was Evan's first emergency contact and medical proxy, and she was already there but not in a state to make medical decisions for Buck.
It didn’t matter in the end. He was gone, they couldn’t save him.
They say that right before you die your life flashes before your eyes. No one told him the same thing happens when the love of your life dies. Or is it just him?
Eddie doesn’t remember much after that.
If someone's interested in writing this, please tag me when you're done.

Hi and happy Sunday ❤️ May I ask monster under the bed and daydream from the Sleepover time -list, please? Thank you 🤗
Thank you for asking, my darling!!! Good picks!
monster under the bed - local folktales, any scary stories
This is sort of local, but not exactly. It's just south of my city. There's a super haunted nightclub in Wilder, Kentucky, Bobby Mackey's. It's owned by, you guessed it, Bobby Mackey. Apparently, over a century ago someone opened a portal to hell on the lot. There have been accounts of possession, bodily injury from inhuman entities, and just really horrible/negative energy. It's not a peaceful place. A lot of fights happen there. Sometimes entities like to follow patrons home. Whatever/whoever is down in the basement of the current building does not take well to taunts. It's not a place I would willingly visit.
daydream - if you could live in any fictional world, which one?
When I was obsessed with Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles, I'd say that. However, these days I'd like to live in a Star Wars AU. Like without Order 66. Or maybe during the High Republic days?

How about I send you both an AU and headcanons? (I'm calling it heqecanons, even if it's actually more of an entire outline of a fic that I have neither the time nor the energy to write. Also it's very long and I'm sorry. Hopefully tumblr doesn't cut any of it off.)
Buddie/Madney Pride & Prejudice (2005) AU
(Notes: There is a third Buckley sibling who is younger, Abby has been aged down but is still older than Buck and they are close friends, and Chase Mackey is also here and aged down to right around Buck and Eddie's age, and he still sucks. Doug doesn't exist in this timeline because f*ck him.)
(More notes: I also can't for the life of me figure out how to incorporate Hen and Karen into this and I'm so disappointed in myself, any ideas?)
The Buckleys meet the handsome and wealthy Howard Han and his brother, Albert, at a party. Their close friend, Edmundo Diaz, has accompanied them. Howard falls in love with Maddie almost immediately. They dance together for most of the evening. For Edmundo and Evan, it's hate at first sight.
Evan becomes acquainted with a dashing soldier named Chase Mackey. They have a run in with Howard and Edmundo. Chase and Edmundo are very cold toward each other, and Chase shares Edmundo's cruelty toward him with Evan. Chase leaves town shortly after this encounter.
Samuel Egan is to inherit the Buckley estate. He comes to meet them and initially wants to marry Maddie, but Mrs. Buckley points him to Evan instead. Evan rejects him, so Mr. Egan proposes to Evan's close friend Abby instead. She accepts.
The Hans and Edmundo leave town abruptly. Nobody knows why. Maddie is heartbroken.
Evan goes to visit Abby and Sam at their home. They visit with Lady Flores, Miss Ana's mother, as they are acquaintances with Sam. Edmundo is also there. He and Evan share awkward conversation.
At church on Sunday, Evan finds out that Edmundo was the one who convinced Howard to leave. He runs out, but Edmundo chases him down and confesses his love and proposes. Evan turns him down. (Cue "I love you most ardently." "From the moment I met you, your arrogance... made me realize that you were the last man in the world I could be prevailed upon to marry." + the almost kiss)
Evan visits close family friends Bobby and Athena, and they visit the Diaz estate, as it is open for visitors. Edmundo is there, and Evan sees him interacting with Christopher. He runs away, but Bobby and Athena are enthralled by Edmundo and accept an invitation to dine with the Diazes. Evan meets Christopher, and both are instantly won over by each other.
Evan finds out that his younger sister has run away with Chase Mackey. Bobby goes to help Mr. Buckley search for them, and, unbeknownst to Evan, Edmundo helps as well. Evan finds out later that Edmundo helped and realizes that he's not the terrible person he thought he was.
Howard returns and proposes to Maddie. (Cue "Yes, yes, a thousand times yes.")
Lady Flores confronts Evan that evening about the rumor that he is engaged to Edmundo. She is furious because Ana and Edmundo have been betrothed since their infancy. Evan refuses to make any promises to her and makes her leave.
Evan can't sleep that night. Neither could Edmundo. Edmundo walked for miles all night to see Evan. He proposes again, and Evan accepts this time. (Cue "You have bewitched me, body and soul, and I love you. I never wish to be parted from you this day on." "Well then, your hands are cold." + the hand kiss and the forehead touch)
Then, just for extra softness, we're using the American ending, where they talk about nicknames and terms of endearment. (Cue "You may only call me Mr. Diaz when you are completely, and perfectly, and incandescently happy." "Then how are you this evening, Mr. Diaz?")
(I’ve never been able to get through any version of Pride and Prejudice yet because my attention span has been shot, but mayhaps I’ll have to try again)
Also that third Buckley sibling- DUDE! And yes about Doug.
Now here’s where I’m pissed at myself for not knowing P&P well enough to know where to put Hen and Karen but I LOVE THEM ON THEIR OWN AND TOGETHER!!!!!
Still, these are some bomb ass headcanons and I love the hell out of all of them and you know what, maybe this dumbass needs to try and read P&P again.
(It’s really funny because I did a report on Jane Austen once in high school and I couldn’t get through P&P but watched a Sense and Sensibility mini-series. So now I questions whether this was me just not thinking things through or another repressed gay experience wanting to learn about Jane Austen)

The Spooky Boys
Fandom: Marvel (Buzzfeed Unsolved: Supernatural AU)
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Reader x Sam Wilson
Prompt #24
“This is why everyone hates people in horror movies, they decide to do something so incredibly stupid then expect to survive. You know what I’m going to do? I’m going to ditch this death trap and live. I’ll attend your funerals.”
You sat in the car with your boyfriends, Sam and Bucky, on the side of the road, across the famous haunted Bobby Mackey’s.
“This week for Buzzfeed Unsolved we’re going to explore Bobby Mackey’s Music World which appears to be a normal Kentucky bar, but many believe it’s a portal to Hell. And what better way to share this experience than to go into this supposed Hell portal with Sam and our wonderful girlfriend, Y/N?” Sam says.
You sat in the back seat, but can clearly be seen in-between them, “If I end up getting killed by a demon, I’m haunting both your asses for eternity.”
Bucky chuckled. “It’s okay, doll, we’ll be fine.”
Sam shook his head, “I hate this so much. You know how much I don’t fuck with demons.”
Bucky laughed, “Alright. Don’t shit your pants. Sam. Let’s get this over with.” The three of you climb out of the car and make your way towards the building.
“I fucking hate this already,” Sam mumbles as he latches onto your side, “I don’t even have any Holy Water. I’m completely vulnerable. Why did we think this was a good idea?” The three of you approach the door and Sam opens it, “Ladies first.”
You scoffed, “Right, sacrifice me to the ghosts and demons first. Thanks, baby. love you too.”
Bucky walks in front of you, but not before kissing your cheek, “It’s okay, sweetheart. I’ll protect you...since Sammy boy’s a fucking wuss.”
“Shut the hell up, Buck!” he pushes him into the building, and followed behind you. The three of you shined your light around the entrance.
“Oh, how lovely,” you shined the light on one of the signs on the wall. You read it out loud, “Warning to our patrons: this establishment is reported to be haunted. Management is not responsible and cannot be held liable for any actions of any ghosts/spirits on these premises.”
Sam groaned, “That doesn’t sound good at all.” he continued to read the other signs and newspaper articles that decorated the wall, “Fuck this. Fuck all of this. This is why everyone hates people in horror movies, they decide to do something so incredibly stupid then expect to survive. You know what I’m going to do? I’m going to ditch this death trap and live. I’ll attend your funerals.” He turns to leave, but Bucky grabs a hold of him.
“C’mon, man. Y/N isn’t even scared.”
“Hah! I’m fucking terrified! I’m just better at hiding it than Sam.”
Your boyfriend shook his head, “We’re gonna die. We’re all gonna die.”
“So right now, we’re all sitting in the safe room that was used in the casino mafia days,” Sam says scanning the room with his flashlight,
“Mob guys, thought you were tough guys! Thought you were tough guys with your guns and your threatening and your cursin’. Why don’t you come in here and give us the business?” Bucky asked looking into the dark room.
You snorted, “Give us the business? Buck, what the Hell?”
He smirked at you as he continued to talk, “Why don’t you punch me in the face? Smack me around a little?”
“Actually, I’m not opposed to that,” Sam says, and receives an elbow to his gut from you, “Okay. Sorry. Jeez. Anyway, we’re just gonna sit here in silence, in the dark, for a minute to see if anything happens. Starting...now.” The three of you turned off your flashlights and sat in silence. Out of nowhere a light turned on and you and Sam freaked out.
“Holy shit!”
“What the fuck!”
Bucky held his stomach as he laughed, “Calm down! It’s just my light on the disco ball!”
Sam reached over you to punch Bucky in the arm, “You asshole!”
You don’t know if you could take much more of this place...

Thanks again for your analysis about SotF and Kevin. Same anon again. Denial!Cas is a sad point in his arc to me as well. And of course a sad point in their relationship. I always felt that's why they showed us that quiet moment where Cas sits on the stairs watching them burn Bobby's flask. Not just to make him get involved. He knew what was going on all along. Yes, these ups and downs over the years are complicated and emotional. Seems high time for a big payoff. ;) Looking at you, s13! ;)
Yeah, that moment was HUGE. He knew how much Bobby meant to Sam and Dean, and to HIM as well. After Sam and Dean, Bobby was the human Cas was closest to, and he recognized just how difficult it was for Sam and Dean to let Bobby go there.
I think Bobby’s last words also affected Cas, because it’s the very next scene where he agrees to “man up” and help:
DEAN: So, what's it feel like?BOBBY: What? Going vengeful? It's an itch you can't scratch out. Look... I'm done. Go get Dick. But don't do it 'cause you think it'll scratch the itch. Do it 'cause it's the job. And when it's your time... go.[SAM and DEAN look sadly at BOBBY. Cut to a shot of the burning coals. SAM and DEAN share a long look with BOBBY.]BOBBY: Here's to... running into you guys on the other side. Only... not too soon. All right?[DEAN tosses the flask (minus its leather cover) onto the coals. It slowly melts. We see the light from BOBBY burning up reflected on DEAN and SAM’s faces. The flask continues to melt and the light goes out. DEAN and SAM look sadly at each other. CASTIEL watches from the stairs.]
He watches all this sadness go down, he hides in the shadows instead of standing there with Sam and Dean, but he DOES watch. He might not be ready to face what he did to the entire planet, nor to the ranks of Heaven, but he can face this and bear witness to the sadness of two people he cares for who have lost something important because of his actions. And he can mourn what Bobby became before this, because Bobby refused to give up and stop helping Sam and Dean...
Bobby had refused to go with the reaper. But also, we know that Bobby’s ghost had been nudging Dean along in the back half of s7 when he was losing everything else. Dean lists off the things he believes Bobby’s ghost did for him in 7.18, after the sword was mysteriously shoved across the room into his hand right as the shojo was about to kill him... yet another action he credited to Bobby’s ghost:
DEAN: The blade was across the room [flashback to the blade sliding across the floor towards DEAN earlier in this episode] and then it was in my hand. And then my beer [flashback to Dean holding an empty beer bottle in 7.11 Adventures in Babysitting] drank itself. [Flashback to the piece of paper on the bed in 7.13 The Slice Girls.] Oh, and then that page magically appeared on the bed. [Flashback to SAM holding the piece of paper in 7.13 The Slice Girls.] And – and then Bobby’s book fell down and out popped [flashback to Bobby’s address book on the floor and the Mackey’s Taxidermy business card in 7.17 The Born-Again Identity] the number of the guy who found Cas. Nothing, I’m sure.
Dean even credited Bobby with helping him FIND CAS again...
That’s when Cas stepped up to help. Yet one more small step toward self-forgiveness. Then he gets a season where his agency is taken from him, a season where he’s again forced to play a role he doesn’t want (hello s9), a season where he’s fighting for his own life against the toxic stolen grace and his mission to save Dean at whatever cost (hello s10), the fight to stop the darkness while also feeling at a particularly helpless point regarding his own self-worth (hello s11), his determination to put the last of his “mistakes” to rights and capture Lucifer (early s12) and then his mission to stop the nephilim (late s12) all while facing his own personal responsibility for his past (12.10), his place in the present with the Winchesters as his family (12.12), and his future where he expresses his commitment to the Winchesters over his duty to heaven (12.19).
ALL OF THIS leads right back to these late s7 themes that resulted directly from those actions in s6 he’s been repenting and atoning for ever since.
Which will hopefully lead to something MAJOR (as if all of this hasn’t been major for him already) in s13, where we’ll continue building off all of this ^^.
This is why we’ve been saying that there was NO WAY Cas had been perma-killed in 12.23. This is why we’ve been insistent that he won’t be “replaced” with an AU Cas. This is why we keep saying that his story is not done, and the writers are not stupid enough to just erase all this character development for some sort of jump-the-shark plot twist. It’s been building toward this for years.

C!quackity? Thoughts?
-disc
c!quackity just makes me so sad honestly. he's got such a sad story from exclusion to abuse etc etc etc and obviously the shit he's done what with the prison and torturing dream is fucked up but people see that, no one's defending him for that you know? i think he deserves a redemption arc because he's still got potential to be a good person yk? and i rlly want c!tubbo to be the one to make him realise that because the two of them have such a history from being in manberg together, them against schlatt, both standing up for the other, then the butcher army and new l'manberg, and now with las nevadas and their new truce? they make such an interesting combination i love them a lot but big q needs to make some big changes to be redeemed and i have faith he can
#also im OBSESSED with that headcanon that las nevadas is just. off#i wrote a little thing off it actually my bobby mackey's au :]#which basically just compares las nevadas to bobby mackey's (a real life place that's allegedly haunted) in a cool storytelling way B)#ask#disc anon#quackity#meta#dsmp
