As an Allura stan myself, I don’t agree at all that Keith ever wanted to leave Allura behind. That first time, in season 1, he really was trying to follow her expectations for what a Paladin is supposed to be. He did it again on Thayserix after she said, in that very episode before, that it’s not about individuals but the greater mission, almost word for word. Keith may be blunt, but at the end of the day, he’s as devoted to Allura and her cause as anyone else.

so, the thing is, it doesn’t really matter how we interpret their actions. if you use the “lance is abusive” logic, then you need to assume the worst intentions of keith, and then you need to punish him to the fullest. that’s how their logic works. 

personally, i don’t think him wanting to leave allura behind (in a literal sense) had anything to do with like...him disliking allura or anything. however, i don’t necessarily think it was about following allura’s code so much as his own--which is something that they share. it’s a point on which they relate/parallel each other, on top of things like losing their fathers and such. they have a lot in common, and their code of honor is one of those things. keith would be devoted to the cause whether allura was there or not imo. 

like, we can have individualized interpretations of keith’s actions, but saying, “keith hates allura and wanted to leave her behind to die” is exactly the kind of logic employed by the “lance is abusive” crowd, and that’s what i’m criticizing.

1.What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?

Oh gosh. In VLD, I don’t have many, but two that really stick out for me are Matt and Lance (Latte, i think the name was?) and I don’t really get Rolo/Keith either. Neither are very popular but I’ve seen them around I just ‘??’ over it lmao! (Okay, I think some people ship Rolo/Keith as a counter to the whole Nyma/Lance thing but bah, not my thing)

In Haikyuu!! - KuroOi. If you want a Dee repellent, show me KuroOi art and it will be like pouring salt on a slug, I’ll shrivel up and die of distaste. (I think this counts as a NoTP too, BUT ID ON’T GET IT TOO SO IT FITS, I JSUT WANNA COMPLAIN ABOUT IT ANYWAYS)

4.Have you ever unfollowed someone? Why?

Yes! There are usually various reasons, discourse being the biggest one. I’m on tumblr for a stress relieving fun time, not dumpster fire panic time. Most of the time, I usually just unfollow someone who unfollows me? lol

Ehh... I’ve gotten rude questions, but not really text book ‘anon hate’. Which I’m not too surprised, I’m not that popular so most people either don’t know I exist or just simply pass me by.

I feel the fanfic pet peeves so hard. Like there’s actually top/bottom discourse and it’s like “that’s not how sex works????” And that their rivalry is interpreted as actual hate, when it seems more like they are just immature (especially Lance) and will eventually grow out of it.

and yeah! like you said, obviously they’re young and aren’t always nice to each other, but it’s been made clear that they don’t hate each other so I’m always baffled (and very frustrated tbqh) when they’re portrayed that way

@bluerobokitty has talked about aspects of this before, but can i just say again how refreshing it is that the most important people in allura’s life have grown very close to lance, without lance having any ulterior motives whatsoever? 

there’s no “father figure Disapproves of Unworthy Boy”, or “boy tries to butter up father figure and her friends to get with girl.” it’s more like lance, the mice, and coran create a united front of people who enjoy each other’s company and would die for allura without any hesitation.

she’s got quite the support system, honestly.

“Aaaand…” Allura clicked her camera a few more times, dragging out the word as much as possible. “Done!” She took a step back.

Lance immediately started laughing as three adorable little kittens crawled over his face.

When Keith told them he had an idea for the shoot, no one expected it would involve animals, much less precious, furry, two weeks old meowling critters. Neither Lance, their favorite model, nor Allura, the photographer, complained however. Somehow, it was refreshing.

The kittens didn’t actually belong to anyone. A street cat that had been loitering around Keith’s building for the past four months suddenly disappeared, which got him worried that something had happened. Until one day she showed up again as he was leaving the building for work, three tiny creatures curled up around her, drinking from her as though their life depended on it (it probably did).

The problem was, Keith has been spending most of his time this past month holed up in Allura’s apartment anyway. So did Lance, as they were pressed for time to finish the look book for next month. Allura’s apartment was the biggest one, also the one closest to the studio and Keith felt terribly guilty leaving the mama cat and her children to the wind.

If he wasn’t pouring cat food in her favorite bowl behind the building, who would?

Keith was convinced they wouldn’t last.

In a desperate attempt to save his feline companions, Keith brought up the idea to use the kittens in Lance’s photo shoots. Allura and Lance both readily accepted, but naturally, it didn’t take long for Allura to realize his plan all along—getting her to adopt them under her roof with them.

He was ready for the responsibility, ready to listen to a sermon, ready for anything she could take out on him. She didn’t. Allura loved the kittens just as much as he did, wanted to take care of them until the mother wasn’t nursing them anymore and they could look for proper houses for the little fur balls.

As his way to thank her, Keith started doing chores around her house, helped her with food and brought her midnight snacks and tea when she was way too busy dealing with angry managers in the wee hours of the mourning.

Lance, always the smart one, also noticed this and teamed up with Keith to help her out.

Today was the last day of shooting. All they had to do was deliver the photos to her boss and let the marketing people handle the rest. They could finally have a decent night of sleep, Keith could lay down on Allura’s floor and let the kittens walk all over him as soon as he got home.

Allura’s home. It wasn’t his, even though lately it did feel like home. When did this start?

“Get up, Lance, I’m starving, let’s eat.” Allura tapped Lance’s knee with her leg.

“Don’t waaanna. I’m not even hungry, I bet—” The smallest kitten walked over his mouth, making him tuck his lips in with a chuckle. “You guys can pick something for me, right? Besides, can’t leave these guys alone. Who knows what they’ll do if no one’s watching?”

Allura and Keith exchanged a glance, followed by an eye roll and a smile.

“Alright, alright.”

“Yes!” Exclaimed Lance, laughing again when one of the kittens sat right on top of his nose.

Truthfully, Allura and Keith didn’t take long to bring back food (and cat food as well). They were probably more worried about what would happen with Lance alone in the room.

But by the time they returned, a serene picture graced them, one Allura made sure to click on her camera: Lance, sprawled on the floor, sleeping with the most beautiful smile and three, tiny furry friends curled up in a ball on his chest.

There was no doubt in their minds that they loved that man.

As of Dec 17 this blog will no longer be active.

I thought easing my way off tumblr was going to be gentler than this while I set up my PillowFort and developed habits to be more active there, but apparently this hellsite decided to make that decision for me.

Y’all, CP and pr0n bots have been an issue on this damn site since it was conceived, and every time Tumblr tried to do something about it, it punished the user base. We can’t make posts with external links, internal links, let our bios have links, etc, you know things that we content creators depend on to thrive. Then they blacklisted certain tags to further destroy our exposure. We had to develop workarounds, hell, we have an entire third-party website we utilize just to make tumblr an actual functioning site.

We should not have to do that.

Now tumblr is not only going an algorithm-based adult content purge much like the Strikethrough that destroyed LiveJournal a decade ago, but sfw posts are not safe. You know why? So the users can report the sfw posts as okay, thus doing all the filtering for them. For free.

And do y’all even need to me to get started on “female-presenting nipples”?? Because the exploration of one’s sexuality and the depictions of consenting adults having a fun time together is right on par with CP. That is the exact message this website is sending with its adult content purge, just like all the (now dead) social media sites before it. This is purity culture at its most basic.
