Does a podcast ever release a take you disagree with so strongly it makes you question everything you heard on it up to that point
#this is so niche and only interesting to other people who spend 10 hours a day listening to podcasts so i'm putting it in the tags#but s1ep3 of invisibilia about the blind guy who learned to echolocate so well he could ride a bike was fucking wild#the take was like. okay okay backing up a bit we all agree disability is socially constructed in some ways right?#ie people treat blind people in certain ways that reinforce an inability to function in society get jobs etc#they have certain expectations of people who are blind that can be limiting. right. so we all agree on that#but that was not the end of the take! the take was that because disability is socially constructed the solution is#to expect the same level of independence from blind people as you do from seeing people#and that also was not the end of the take because the way this man tried to accomplish that was forcing blind children to climb trees#this guy had achieved a high level of independence but in the process of learning to echolocate had knocked out multiple teeth#he was like 'the biggest barrier to blind people's ability to function in society is their parents' love for them'#because parents prevent blind children from exploring getting close to roads etc#and anyway i think that although parents may infantilize blind children more than necessary there is a strong financial incentive to#make sure they do not get hit by a car or break a bone#the solution of just getting blind people to act exactly like seeing people also seems odd#what's wrong with requiring help from others? why have we decided independence is the only way to function in society?#should all disabled people just be willing to injure themselves in order to get as close as possible to independence#in order to hold down a job which we have decided is the only way to earn the right to live#is there only one correct way to live a life?#it truly baffled me. i was sorting that mail going 👀👀🤔#anyway. this has been your podcast take of the day

The thing about how sam’s arc in season 4 is often discussed is that people simultaneously acknowledge that the angels are bad, while claiming Sam is an idiot for rebelling against them.
like I have listened through three (3) rewatch podcasts and they always seem to fall into this loop of going ‘hey the angels are Obviously up to no good’ while also going ‘Sam is really stupid. Why would he trust a demon when literal angels are telling him to stop’
idk man. Maybe bc the angels are Obviously up to no good????

if Twilight vampires had compulsion would Edward use it on Bella?
Oh, absolutely, assuming her gift wouldn't fend him off.
He would compell her to forget the truck incident and not think any more about him, only to start worrying about all the ways she might get hurt. This is the man who convinced himself that staying in her bedroom was necessary to protect her from danger: he would compell her to accept the brand new car with terrific safety features some mystery benefactor bought her, and compell Charlie not to question it either. He'd compell her to remember to eat, to stay away from Mike Newton, to keep out of the woods, to walk carefully when it's icy out, he would compell the PE teacher to let her sit out his classes, and on it would go.
Bella would turn into Coppelia, it would be awful.

sbcw2.3: but Rayla was in trouble
It happens in front of everyone. There is Soren, keeping Ezran away from the danger, and Rayla at Claudia's feet, and Callum forced to make an impossible choice, only it's not impossible, not for him, and the decision is all too easy to make.
He hands over the cube. Rayla walks free.
Aaravos does too.
Rayla yells at him afterwards because of course she does, because she is notoriously suicidal and would rather die than let anyone else be hurt in her place. That's what the choice was, wasn't it? Her or everyone. And it should have been everyone, she'd said; she should have just died, she'd said, but Callum can't fathom it—won't fathom it, and she understands, in the end, because she would have done the same and they both know it.
Callum expects that to be the end of it, but the animosity he receives from Soren is less expected. Soren is silent, but furious. He's made a concerted effort to be sunnier these last two years, but there is ice in the way that he glares, and salt in the things he doesn't say.
They had back to Katolis without speaking, without looking at each other, because Callum can feel his disapproval from the other side of Queen Zubeia's back, and he is not in the mood to be judged. Still there is judgement, still there is there is mountain of things Soren says without saying, and Callum ignores it until he can't, and the accusation spills from his mouth.
"You think I should have let her die."
Soren tilts his head at him slowly, his jaw clenched tightly shut. The council chambers fall silent. Callum scowls from across the table.
"Well?"
Soren rolls his neck like he's rallying for a fight. "I think it should have been a harder decision to make," he says shortly.
"It was the only decision to make."
"Was it?"
"Yeah," snaps Callum. "Rayla was in trouble. Your sister would have killed her if I didn't do it. What the hell would you have done?"
"Minimum, I would have thought about it a little."
Callum actually laughs. "You're talking to me about thinking about something a little?"
"Yeah, actually," snarls Soren, "because we all love to pretend I'm an idiot but I'm Captain of your brother's Crown Guard for a reason. I'm on this council for a reason. Your duty is to him, to advise him, and you couldn't put your head on straight for one fucking second just because you're so fucking blinded—"
"Were you not listening?" barks Callum. "You were there! Rayla was in trouble! Claudia would have killed her!"
"And now," seethes Soren, "she's killed all of us! You've killed all of us! Open your eyes, Callum, Rayla's not in any less trouble now because you chose her over everyone else. We're still fucked. Because of you."
"What the fuck would you have done?"
Soren snorts bitterly and pushes away from the table, chair legs scraping loudly against the floor. "Not this," he mutters.
Callum sets his jaw. "I see," he says darkly.
"That's the problem," says Soren. "You don't."

I swear to god, if they kill Blood Moon again without even trying to help them. I’m tired of them saying Blood Moon doesn’t want to change, it’s because nobody has ever done anything but use them and betray them.
It’s no wonder they don’t trust anyone when all they’ve ever done was be used. They were quite literally brought back to life to be a freaking tool for Jigsaw!

I genuinely can't tell what the lyrics to his songs are without looking them up.
Like, for the longest time Cotards solution was just "MAMA ME MAMAMAMA ME SHALALALA" to me. I had no idea what the main character was about outside of the chorus, I still can't comprehend Mr. Capgras, and for all I know, Venetian blind man could be about some random Italian dude going on a trip.
I love it though
REAL! What is Will saying? You won't know 'til you look it up!

Alright
I'm finally doing a thing
I'm going into a game blind (I allowed myself like 10 minutes playtesting from a friend just to make sure I'll still like the game)
No looking things up, no asking for help (Unless I get stuck), no spoiling the lore or anything. Just unbridled idiocy at it's finest as I stumble like a newborn foal trying to figure out how game work.
I have been told I will like this game, since it's lore-intensive and I tend to like that.
Now, the big reveal, what game is this?
Outer Wilds
It's on sale for 15, I'm buying it, we'll see how it goes

The hard thing about typology is that eventually you reach a point where, despite knowing theory very well, you type purely off of habits/quirks/etc because they're easy to catch (when you know what you're looking for) and almost always right.
