"This painting is dedicated and inspired by the racism massacre at Rosewood in 1923. I feel a lot about this theme and hope to give it justice. The "smile" detail in her face and the golden rope around her neck stands for the damaging "toxic positivity" message going around. This spans so much from marketing, to the hypocritical people who think you simply need to smile and ignore much of the trauma going on in the world, because it doesn't directly relate to them - including racism." - @illusorya on her emotive painting "Rose-n-Wood", created for You can read more about "Rose-n-Wood" over on her social media pages. ... posted on Instagram - https://instagr.am/p/CMgTx6ArgcA/

Repost from @mister_imhotep using @RepostRegramApp - Don't ask me how I ended up reading this, because I don't even know how it happened lol. But it ended up being a great discovery. This excerpt is from the comic book Black Panther 2018, Issue 5. The story is from Ta-Nehisi Coates. I read it, and I have to say that I was not expecting something so powerful. The story is so deep. It touched me because it is related to Africans life experience today. The story of a people whose identity, past, and story have been stolen by the empire. They stole all their memory, stored it somewhere. And now they are using it against the people. And here you can see T'challa, the true king of Wakanda who also lost his memory (so, he ignores that he is the true king) talking about the importance of the past, of the memory, of their history. I still remember when we started this project, Imhotep, many people, usually non-African people, told us that the past does not matter. That we have to move forward... To forget about all that past, it is useless. That's some BS! Yes, I said it! It is another trick, a trap used to prevent us from healing. This world is upside down. We don't follow the laws of nature. The bad things are promoted and the right things are forbidden. And this type of behavior is not sustainable. It is like going against the flow of a river. At some point, you will get tired and the river will win. It's better to use the river's flow with us, than against us. And that's why it is important to heal by learning about ourselves. Find self-love and start building our future. You will never know what kind of fruit you can bear if you ignore what type of tree you are. And the only way to know which tree you originally were before all the hybridizations that occurred, you must go back to the roots. That's the only way to know. And by knowing that, you will be able to do the right thing, apply the right process, pick the right environment in order to find balance in your life and be effective. That knowledge is necessary. Don't settle. Keep digging! And don't let them fool you! . .#imhotepfacts . . .🎓@mister_imhotep . . #blackconsciousness #blackexcellence #blackhistorymon https://www.instagram.com/p/B0YkgC3hQPeRehWHPGlUVAN1bZiqRBuNuNKjiQ0/?igshid=11xweixj3znnr

Y'all know L is about 2do some look-at-me-over-here thing on Tues when the show returns. But it's been shown in the past years that no matter what she posts & no matter if her boyfriend/boy (as she denigrates him) reposts, she only gets temporary spike in attention. We get what we deserve in the sense that we gotta put efforts in our desired success. Meanwhile C's fans R so excited about IWA & WA stuff + BlackHistoryMon*h + 6th anniversary of her casting news that they'll use tag #6YearOfCandice
LA will continue to milk her association to the Flash for everything she can. Smart ‘business’ move even if she is blatant as hell about what she’s doing.
