Oh, I know Headon hates Evan for plopping in and leading Yuri to his Irregular exclusive Floor...
#tower of god#headon#yuri 'oh HER' Evan 'GLARE and full naming him'#not that he didn't also get Yuri to commit a criminal offense with the death penalty attached though <3 Headon is so kind#also until we get proven otherwise and Headon also has some sort of guide sense I am tenatively settling on him setting Bam up for failure#unless he was acting his exlamation points surprise at Yuri actually going through w the Black March thing#and deliberately set up for necessitated ignition in which case Bam immedietely becomes entangled with the 13MS deal#which to me only makes sense if we go w the BaZa theory which many people seem to dislike?#so pick your poison I suppose#(as to why Bam as master of the 13ms doesn't make sense otherwise: Zahard orchestrated their construction the ignition spirits and material#so why would suddenly the son of completely unrelated and uninvolved V and Arlene be related to that project#instead of Zahards prophesied son said to continue the climb one day...but tangent over)

stupidly niche post about the way french and english think bird categories differently and it fucks with me
because I need to rant and show why looking up birds in both english and french is extremely frustrating ! Let's take the Accipitridae family for example ! Clearly the two languages decided to follow pretty different sets of rules to sort the birds out and it results in this fucking mess which gives me a headache :
all the eagles are "aigles" in french
but the hawk-eagles in english are also just "aigles" in french
the goshawks in english are all "autours" in french
but the "autours" in french are ALSO two sparrowhawks (the chesnut-flanked and the black one), one hawk (long-tailed) and one buzzard (lizzard) for some reason.
there are 5 "baza" birds in french and only 3 baza birds in english...
the 2 other baza birds in french are, for some reason, called cuckoo-hawks in english. Somehow they were seen as significantly different enough in one language but not the other.
the bateleur, honey-buzzards, harrier-hawks, snake eagles and serpent eagles in english (why snake AND serpent ? that's the same thing) are the only Accitridae birds with a unique translation in french. They're respectively called "bateleur", "bondrées", "gymnogènes", "circaètes" and "serpentaires", which means that the two languages agreed on exactly five (5) categories of Appitridae birds and nothing more.
you could think that the bird called "busard" in french is the bird called buzzard in english, right ? hahahaha, no ! fuck no ! "Busard" in french is harrier in english !
Buzzard in english is in 4 cases "busautour" in french and in MANY other cases MANY other words :))) I hate this :))))
the "buse" in french is an hawk
the "buse" in french is also MANY buzzards
the "buse" in french is also one fucking buzzard-eagle and two fucking eagles ???? what is the buse in french exactly ?!? WHAT IS IT ??? maybe english has been ignoring essential common features between all these guys ??? who knows ?? not me
remember how "buse" = hawk sometimes ? well the french word "épervier" also = hawk sometimes. clearly hawks aren't perceived as a unified group in french.
remember how "autours" = sparrowhawks in two cases in french ? well the rest of the sparrowhawks are "éperviers" ! that's right just like the hawks ! I guess that difference english sees between hawks and sparrowhawks is completley insignificant in the french system
there's only one Harpy in english but there are two "Harpie" in french....
the "creasted eagle" is the second "Harpie" in french. why did it deserve to be a harpie in french and not in english ? I do not know.
"élanions" are kites
"milans" are also kites because fuck you that's why
"milans" are ALSO "buzzards" (THEM AGAIN !!!) and one single "hawk" (the bat hawk. why.)
english has fish eagles, sea eagles and the white-tailed eagle and bald eagle. well french has "pycargue" for ALL of these.
that's right the bald eagle in french is not an eagle ("aigle") but a "Pycargue à tête blanche" ! I can guarantee you that statistically almost 0% of french speakers know that. we all call it an eagle in casual conversation.
for some reason when it comes to "Vultures" the french language kind of goes a little insane ???
bearded vulture = "gypaète barbu",
palm-nut vulture = "palmiste africain",
egyptian vulture = "percnoptère d'Egypte"
why so many unique names for vultures ???
all the other vultures in english are "vautours" in french
and that's why I will never be able to learn how to translate the name of these birds from one language to another, the logics are simply too different and my brain isn't powerful enough to compartimentalize both of them properly at the same time, I always forget explanations. fuck this. time to learn scientific names.
#birds#ornithology#linguistics#langblr#french#english#upthebaguette#raptors#bee tries to talk#hawks#vultures#I want to go back to this at some point to find some answers im gonna dig into the etymologies etc I need to understand

Actually while I'm still a bird blog (literally just for today) here's some other birds I'm fond of/think would be GREAT in Skyjacks:
Willie Wagtail (Rhipidura leucophrys)
Tiny, adjustable eyebrows, fan tail, fantastically acrobatic fliers. Two kinds of noises: angry shouting and beautiful singing. Diet is primarily insects but they have been known to eat carrion of far larger animals. Not afraid of humans. Made mostly of audacity: will often attack much larger birds including magpies, ravens and occasionally even osprey (sea eagles) or wedge-tailed eagles.
Currawong (Strepera sp.)
Three species of absolute clown disguised as dapper goths. Very clever and capable of bastardry: wild populations have been documented unzipping bags to get at the contents. All round omnivore. Social. Soup dragon noises.
Rainbow bee-eater (Merops ornatus)
Rainbow, eats bees (and other insects, but especially bees). Migratory, can fly far distances for a little bird. Makes and then nests in underground burrows. Very social. Makes delightful prrt noises and exhibits some very cute huddling behaviour.
Red-tailed black cockatoo (Calyptorhynchus banksii)
Large, loud and social. Shy with humans but not absent from urban and suburban areas. Dangerous if you happen to be a delicious seed pod, or item that looks fun to chew on. Capable of high flying, rarely comes down to the ground (mostly hangs out in trees). A herald of coming rains, according to old farmer's tales. Brains. Incredible aesthetic really.
Splendid fairywren (Malurus splendens)
This tiny man is in fact more blue in person, (juvenile and female individuals being brown with a splash of blue on the tail). He flirts by offering flower petals and fancy flying. He's also a good dad. Always moving, fast takeoff and strong flight (but only in short bursts). Like all adorable round birds, very territorial.
New Holland honeyeater (Phylidonyris novaehollandiae)
Small, social bird with dignified sideburns who subsists primarily off of sugar (with a side of insects and arachnids). Mobile, talkative, and known to gang up on larger birds, such as wattlebirds (below). Nimble fliers, but tend to navigate a flowering bush from the inside. Looks like an electric type pokémon.
Superb fruit dove (Ptilinopus superbus)
Medium-small pigeon with an absolutely unrealistic colour palette (yet impressively camouflaged). Indeed superb. Also a dove that eats fruit. Not great at building nests. Migratory or nomadic but sneaky about it: possibly at night, as they (unfortunately) occasionally collide with lighthouses.
Pacific baza (Aviceda subcristata)
Looks as though a wizard has turned a cuckoo into a bird of prey in a futile attempt to teach it the meaning of hard work. In fact a medium sized, crested hawk. An omnivore: hunts everything from insects to reptiles to smaller birds, but also actively eats fruit. Rumoured to be able to mimic frog-calls, which coaxes the frogs to respond in turn. Pretty chill and, like many other hawks, social. Documented aerial somersaulter. Also not the greatest at nest building.
Red wattlebird (Anthochaera carunculata)
Not the prettiest, but interesting to watch. Large honeyeater and one of the few birds I am convinced has retained awareness of being a dinosaur. Loud about it, either with a gutteral cluck or lovely singing. Glides as much as flies, though they are perfectly capable of it. A decent climber, nimble. Will throw it's weight around with both smaller and larger birds. Unclear if it entirely understands it's place in the food chain.
Southern boobook (Ninox boobook)
A small, compact, cute and otherwise plain owl, but with very striking eyeliner. Does well in suburban areas. Named for the distinct noise it makes, though is (as most owls are) a totally silent flier. Feeds mostly on insects and small mammals but is also capable of catching bats.

I love Warframe, so much.
The super fluid, only touch the ground to start another parkour sequence, the floor is lava, bouncing off walls and flying across rooms and down hallways style of movement.
The >utterly overwhelming< number of weapons available. Primaries range from bows (Paris, Dread) to rocket launchers (ogris) grenade launchers (penta, tonkor), a handheld laser cannon (opticor), spicy bows (Lenz and Bramma are both rocket launchers cosplaying as bows), an 18th century naval cannon (zarr), machine guns with a 200 round magazine (soma prime) and machine guns that get more accurate the longer you fire (Tenora my beloved), innately suppressed smg (baza). You want a chaining lightning gun that will kill the guy you’re aiming at, and the next two rooms of people via daisy chains? Amprex. if you need a tactical weapon for grouping enemies the Mutalist cernos shoots an arrow full of grabby tentacles that brings enemies together for group hugs. Do you need a rifle to hunt cthulu T-Rexes (eidolons)? Rubico (Prime) or, my favorite, Kuva Chakkhurr - a black powder musket that shoots moderately slow projectiles, high skill high reward, you land a shot, it’s gonna feel it. Here’s a goody - Tigris (Prime) - it’s a double barreled shotgun, with a duplex trigger - you squeeze the trigger, it fires one round, you release the trigger, it fires the second! really interesting to play with, though with the changes to shotgun status a few years ago it’s no longer the powerhouse it was, though quite potent. Phenmor is also one of my favorites, a precision semi auto rifle, land a couple headshots to charge it, and it evolves into an archgun (gun for mecha or exosuits, bigger, and badder) that’s basically a minigun. Corinth (prime) is cool, primary fire is crit based shotgun, alt fire shoots an air burst grenade you can manually detonate over enemies heads (prime version, regular corinth is locked at 20m detonation). Kohm is an auto shotgun that spoils up like a minigun, the higher the spool the more pellets it shoots, very ammo hungry, but man if it isn’t satisfying to point down a hallway and watch it fill with red mist. Astilla is a shotgun that shoots glass slugs that explode on impact. Arcs Plasmor shoots solid walls of energy. like straight up, point down hallway, and you shoot a bright blue (ur energy color) brick wall of plasma. you can’t miss. Simulor is a gun that shoots miniature black holes. Trumna charges it’s alt fire with the literal souls of the enemies you kill. Shedu and Bubonico are the weapon arm cannons of sentient (enemy robot faction) that we ripped off and stole.
secondaries are have a bit less variety, but we’ve still got oodles of goodies
Pandero, a pocket sniper rifle, this lil handcannon is hella accurate for reaching out to touch someone, and alt fire dumps the entire magazine in an automatic burst. Laetum is the cooler pandero, land a few headshots and it evolves into an automatic assault rifle. Lex (Prime) was my starchart clearing gun, back in the day. space deagle. Nukor (and it’s cooler older sister Kuva Nukor (Kukor)) are similar to the amprex in that they chain to enemies, however they also have the quirk of having the highest critical damage in the game, with the lowest critical chance. (there’s shenanigans you can do to force them to crit, making them devestating). Pyrana (Prime) is an auto shotgun, it’s got high spread and high rate of fire, but get in their face and drop mag and see the magic. Zakti (Prime) shoots small needles that explode in clouds of aoe gas after a moment, really good for priming status effects and swapping to melee or primary to take advantage of. Euphona Prime - look, i love it, it’s not great, you gotta build it exclusively for the slug firemode or for the shotgun fire mode. it’s really cool, you should try it if you can, but it’s solidly just okay. Sepulcrum feeds on the souls of its victims to power its alt fire, and it’s just a massive beefy fuckin pistol straight out of 40K. Tenet Spirex force procs impact, and with the hemorrhage mod you can guarantee you turn some of those impact procs into bleed procs for DOT damage. Athodai is straight up like retro sci-fi laser pistol, it shoots beams, and alt fire has a big burst of energy aoe in front of you. Twin Kohmak are like the kohm, but smaller, and akimbo, for pocket dakka. Twin Grakata MOAR DAKKA. A beloved meme gun in the warframe community. just two fuckin bullet hoses that will eat your ammo faster than you can find it. truly one of the guns of all time, and a joy to fire.
and don’t think for a moment i’m going to forget about melees lmao.
we got Nikanas (space katana - nikana (prime) , skiajati ), we got greatswords(Gram (prime), Galatine (prime)), we got throwing glaives(Glaive(prime) Xoris), we got gun blades (like think those bizarre renaissance era swords with guns built into the hilts? got it? yeah, those, but space-y. redeemer (prime), sarpa), we have claws (venka) , we have sword & board (silva & aegis) scythes (reaper prime), hammers (heliocor, jat kittag), dual blades up the wazoo, single daggers, dual daggers, fist weapons, fist and feet weapons, war fans (quassus, arum spinosa), staves (Bo, pupacyst), tonfa (kronen), a gigantic saw (ghoulsaw), rapiers (endura, ), blade & whips (atterax, lacera)
#warframe#long post#totally normal about this game#also i own almost every weapon#i’m missing the most recent 5
