here we go again with my bullshit about coparenting megumi with satoru
Tumblr media
most days, megumi and tsumiki are with distant relatives on tsumiki's mom's side. however, during what satoru affectionately calls "fun weekends" or fweekends when neither of you are sent on a mission and tsumiki is hanging out with her friends, you call whoever megumi is staying with to tell him to get his backpack ready for an adventure. and, at 9:00am sharp on friday, you sign megumi out of school early and meet satoru at the zoo.
you hand megumi one of those applesauce pouches to eat with one hand while his other firmly grips your pinky as you approach satoru at the front entrance. he's opted for sunglasses instead of the blindfold today and is unironically wearing a fanny pack slung around his chest. he gives you a peck on the cheek and whispers you look so pretty today in your ear before grabbing megumi and hoisting him on top of his shoulders, marching into the zoo.
and that's where megs stays for the majority of the day, stationed on top of satoru's towering body to get a better look over the crowds. his hands find fistfuls of snowy white hair but satoru doesn't mind at all; with megumi on his shoulders, satoru's hand finds a permanent place in yours and the other hovers next to megumi's waist in case he loses his balance. when he does let go of your hand, it's to hold megumi's legs in place as he jogs around the surrounding area making racecar noises.
you make megumi wear a bucket hat to protect his face from the sun and satoru takes him to the bathroom every time you pass one, which he reluctantly obliges. satoru also gives him a very extensive lesson on the importance of sunscreen while you're in the bathroom and they're looking at the flamingoes.
despite his indifferent disposition, megumi finds the zoo fascinating. his eyes give his emotions away, and your heart feels lighter as you see them twinkle with intrigue and widen with surprise as you navigate the exhibits. quietly, he asks satoru to take him closer to the wolf exhibit because it matches the stuffed animal you got him when you first introduced yourself. you stay there for a while until satoru tries to make them howl, in which case you drag both of them out of there. megumi also points at the polar bears and sarcastically asks satoru if he's related to them because of their fur color. his little hand reaches up to touch the flowers blooming in the trees of the aviary and he freezes up when a multi-colored bird lands on his head. you take a picture, megumi with a bird on his head and satoru glancing up at him, and make it your lockscreen. during lunch, you get another funny photo of megs and satoru having matching ice cream mustaches after you get soft-serve for dessert. satoru beams at the camera while megumi's tongue tries in vain to lick the ice cream off his nose.
before you leave to have dinner, you let megumi pick out a souvenir from the gift shop and he gets another wolf stuffed animal to be friends with the one you gave him. satoru buys you and him one of those magnetic best friends bracelets except the two halves make a bird resembling the one that landed on megumi in the aviary.
megumi hangs on to the wolf stuffie during dinner and snuggles it closer as he yawns in the car. when you tuck him into his room at jujutsu tech for bed, he asks when he can have another adventure with you and satoru.

ATLA Headcanons: Nations Edition
Water Tribes:
Despite the might of the Fire Navy during the war, around 1000-500 BG (Before Genocide), the Water Tribes were known for producing the best sailors and navigators around the world.
The NWT (Northern Water Tribe) traditions greatly emphasized the Moon Spirit, Tui, whereas the SWT (Southern Water Tribe) traditions preferred the Ocean Spirit, La.
Water Tribesmen were known for being innovative, the greatest example being Sokka of the Southern Water Tribe, who invented modern airships and submarines. The first pair of sunglasses, for example, were invented by a Water Tribe immigrant in Republic City. It was an innovation from snow goggles, which were worn frequently in the NWT capital, Agna Qel'a, to prevent snow blindness, and later by Sokka and the Mechanist during the Black Sun invasion in 100 AG (After Genocide).
The people of the Water Tribes were known for migrating to various lands to sustain their population. The first great example was Northerners migrating to the South Pole, circa 4000 BG, followed by the Foggy Swamp, Yokoya (present-day Kyoshi Island), and even had a small Fire Nation diaspora (who were all exiled by Firelord Sozin and later Azulon during the Hundred Years War).
Similar to the stereotype of Fire Nationals being obsessed with honour, common Water Tribe stereotypes included being present-moment oriented (going with the flow), being family-oriented, laziness and never being on time, and (unfortunately) living a hedonistic lifestyle, such as alcoholism and doing the "thing". It didn't help that actual examples existed in the form of Avatar Kuruk.
Earth Kingdom:
The Earth Kingdom was often mistaken for a group of nations rather than a single nation. It didn't help that the various provinces were very dissimilar to one another in language, architecture, customs, and (in the case of Omashu) governmental affairs.
The Earth Kingdom consisted of various diasporas from the other nations, including (but not limited to) Fire Nation colonists in the FN colonies (and later the United Republic of Nations), the Northern Air Temple and surrounding locations, and the aformentioned Water Tribe immigrants in the southeastern Earth Kingdom, the most prominent being the Foggy Swamp tribe, Kyoshi Island, and even the Si Wong Desert.
Common stereotypes for the Earth Kingdom as a whole were rare due to the sheer size and diversity of the nation. For individual nations, Ba Sing Se was seen as complacent and corrupt, Gaoling was opulent but arrogant, whereas Omashu was basically that weird kid nobody wanted to associate with. The sandbenders were seen as rogue criminals, and the swampbenders were mistaken for polar waterbenders.
Related to the above, diaspora groups were given common stereotypes related to their homeland; for example, Kyoshi Islanders were mistaken for Water Tribesmen, the Fire Nation colonists were stereotyped similarly to their countrymen back home, etc.
The Earth Kingdom had a long history of stonework and masonry due to the power of earthbenders. The Northern Air Temple, for example, was built mostly by earthbenders, and stone and marble statues were often built as gifts to foreign diplomats and the crowning of royalty in other nations.
Fire Nation:
The Fire Nation was known for its traditional dances for hundreds of years before dancing was forbidden by Firelord Sozin during the Hundred Year War. During the modern era, the greatest dancers were notably from the Fire Nation, relearning their pre-war culture.
The Fire Nation were also known for glassmaking and metalwork due to their control over fire. These were often sent as gifts or means of trade.
During Firelord Zuko's rule, efforts were made to preserve pre-war Fire Nation traditions including singing, dancing, and dragons.
Pre-centralized Fire Nation had many regional dialects that varied by clan; some examples include the Keohso, the Saowon speaking the Ma'inka dialect, and the Sei'naka speaking the Southern dialect of FN language. Later on, the dialect spoken in the FN capital city was made the official language of the Fire Nation.
Similarly to the Water Tribes, the Fire Nation was known for being innovative and technologically advanced, to the point where Fn engineers were often brought to other nations to improve infrastructure. After the Hundred Years War came to an end, Sokka worked with several such engineers to invent new technology introduced in Republic City.
Air Nomads:
Each Air Temple has its own regional dialect with loanwords from their closest nation. Avatar Yangchen, for example, spoke with the Western dialect, with loanwords from the Fire Nation syntax, whereas Avatar Aang spoke the Southern dialect, with loanwards from the Southern Water Tribe. The Northern and Eastern dialects included Earth Kingdom syntax.
The Air Nomads were known for their traditional songs. Before the war, Air Nomad singers and Fire Nation dancers and musicians often travelled together to performances around the world.
The notion that all Air Nomads were airbenders was actually Fire Nation propaganda. However, Air Nomads who were born airbenders were sent to the Air Temples to train under the monks and nuns while nonbenders were left with other families, hence the misconception.
Every year, male Air Nomads from the Northern and Southern Air Temples travel to the Eastern and Western Air Temples to meet female Air Nomads there. Yes, that's how Air Nomads are born.
Similar to the Water Tribes, the Air Nomads often travelled around various nations, forming diasporas around the world, most commonly in the Earth Kingdom. People forgot about that because of (again) Fire Nation propaganda.
Miscellaneous:
Each Avatar wears an item of clothing that separates him or her from their fellow countrymen (technically canon). Kuruk has his polar bear-dog headress, Kyoshi is pretty self-explanatory, Roku has Sozin's headpiece, Aang immediately stands out too as an Air Nomad, and Korra has a pretty recognizable physicality.

might be wrong but iirc you have (sun?)glasses for your sensitive eyes right? if so, do you have any recommendations on where to get any kinda non prescription glasses? i also have sensitive eyes... orz
I do but they're just shitty $10 ebay sunglasses that don't do much at all :')
A while ago I did some research to find out what to look for in sunglasses for particularly light sensitive eyes, and the best ones are polarized, mirrored, and category 3 or 4. Light protection lenses come in "categories" with 0 being basically no UV protection at all (think general seeing eye glasses), cat.1 having light tinting but not much protection, cat.2 being basic/standard sunglasses, 3 being really good, and 4 being "don't drive while wearing these" lol
Unfortunately, glasses that have all of these are expensive as all hell... Ones I had written down are Ray-Bans' Flash Polarised glasses or their Chromance range... Someone else I found recommended green-tinted glasses helping a lot and those are generally more affordable than friggin Ray-Bans. Black and dark grey lenses work best for me too, even if the UV protection on my sunglasses isn't the best. Aviators look cool as hell but they tend to slide down my nose after a while and don't have protection on the sides so light still gets in from certain angles
My best pair of glasses right now are these things:
Tumblr media
"Retro Steampunk Sunglasses Side Shield Vintage Metal Round Eyewear Glasses," $10 on ebay (there are a lot of sellers of these and they're all the exactly the same—don't pay more than $10 for them). They've held up surprisingly well and seem to have nearly indestructible lenses; I throw them into my pocket regularly when I'm out haha Those side shields are awesome too. Biggest downside (?) is that they get compared to a lot of things...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Crowley Good Omens, Alucard Hellsing, Ozzy Osbourne)
So uh... That can be good or bad depending on your aesthetic choices lol
These Heron Mountain shades by Vallon seem pretty good and decently priced, but the side shields limit vision and I wanna see if I can find sunglasses like these without vision-limiting sides for maybe a lower price first. If I do, I'll be sure to post about it on here

Teaser - Chapter One - Chapter Two
characters: mafia boss! Yuta Nakamoto x innocent! florist! reader
summary: While running away, you seemed to be moving closer to the man you were avoiding. Are you even heading to the right direction?
chapter word count: 1.6 k words
chapter genre: angst, fluff (if you close your eyes)
chapter warning: super innocent main character, language, blood, gun, killing, flirty(?) Jaehyun (I swear this is a Yuta fic)
There are a lot of triggers that don't sit well with minors so please keep in mind that some scenes are disturbing and purely fictional. Inspired by Koi no Dangan.
a/n: I honestly haven't written a follow-up for this. My writing speed is so slow and I'm honestly so lost on what I should do. So if you have suggestions for what you want to happen in the next chapters, I promise that would help a lot. 😁 Thank you for your warm welcome. Sorry, I cannot reply to you all but I'm really happy to be back and see you all again. Thank you for letting me write for you again. 🥰
taglist: @sourirensoleille @kyuprincess @nuoyipeach @anonjyxd @a-bts-world @a-place-filled-with-random @smolbeanieee @yumilovesavocado @imnotsureokay @dhaly-g
But moving away means huge money. And where would you go? Another country? That will cost a lot of money. Another city? But that won't guarantee that you will be safe from another mafia group.
A heavy sigh escaped your lips as you list your expenses for the month and the salary you’re receiving from this flower shop gig. Should you get another part-time job? A job that would pay you a hundred thousand a night perhaps? Is there even a job like that?
"What's with the long face?" Sophie, the owner of the flower shop, asked. "It's bad for the business." You apologized but she just stared at you worriedly. "What's wrong, Y/N?" She had always been the older sister you never had. It wasn’t the best impression when you first met her, but she had always been there for you and even took you in when she first built this flower shop. “Is it about your dad? I told you to just send him to the hospice, you can have the freedom by yourself.” But you cannot do that, he’s the only one in your family left. You cannot just abandon him like that.
You dropped the pen and then stared at her in question. “Do you know any job where I can get a hundred thousand per night?”
She laughed. A boisterous laugh that made you sigh. Of course, that would be stupid. There’s not a job like that. “You’re pretty and you’re young. You could sell yourself.” The older suggested which made you look at her. Sell yourself? How? Like in a market? “I’m pretty sure those old men would have a field day seeing you.”
What? You’re so lost. What is she talking about? “What? I don’t get it.”
Sophie gave you a frustrated sigh. “If you sell your body to those old men, they’ll definitely pay you a hundred thousand. Sometimes even more.”
“Really? How?”
“By sleeping with them and bearing them a child.”
Your eyebrows scrunched in question, “How do you bear a child?”
You can see how she looked at you as if you were stupid. And with how she judged you, you felt like you were. “You’re a hopeless virgin.” She claimed while shaking her head. “I’ll ask around.” You nodded, thanking her for that. “Y/N, please don’t let anyone corrupt your innocence.”
Your talk was cut off when the door chime rang and a customer entered. It was weird seeing a guy clad in black clothes and wearing sunglasses, asking for a flower suggestion. But you weren’t one to judge. A customer means business and you’re more than happy that someone is buying flowers at this time of day.
The guy kept on returning for three days in a row, sometimes twice a day, which you found rather odd. You were convinced that he was after your boss since Sophie would always entertain him and you would just arrange the flowers he would buy. On the fourth day, however, he came in the morning even if your boss isn’t around. He bought a bouquet of tulips, like on any typical day, without asking for Sophie. Maybe he really is a customer.
That afternoon though, instead of the man in black who usually comes in, a familiar dimpled guy appeared at the door of the flower shop that startled you. “You didn’t call me.” How did he find you here? Is this merely a coincidence?
“I lost your card.”
“Lost or threw?” He knows. He locked the door of the shop which made you revolt but he only stepped closer to you, pulling the sleeve of your shirt. “You didn’t clean your wound.” he whispered, “You could die because of this, Y/N.” It’s just a gunshot wound. How bad can it get?
If it wasn’t for Jaehyun, you wouldn’t notice how the part of your arm where the wound is was swelling. He explained it was natural and since you left the wound in the open, it is infected. You didn’t understand anything but felt bad that you dismissed his warning. But why is he so concerned about you? “I gave you my card so I can help you clean your wound or if anything happens, you can call me. I like brave girls but I hate stubborn girls the most.”
“You don’t need to concern yourself with me.”
He smiled, a dimple popping out from his cheek. Well, Jaehyun is rather handsome. You had to note that. But he’s related to a mafia and that’s a huge red flag already. “I don’t," You shrugged, he really shouldn't be.
"...but I’m grateful.” He claimed which surprised you. Grateful about what? “If it weren’t for you, the leader of the Nakamoto group would be dead. Of course, you don’t realize how big that is. But because of you, Y/N, the group is alive.” You didn’t know if it was his serious tone or the weight of his statement that made you hush. Jaehyun stared straight at you, “And a young child wouldn’t be more traumatized.”
“So Miss Y/N Y/L/N, like it or not, you’re already involved in this mafia group.” The words you dread to hear. “Unless you pay off your debt.”
Maybe Sophie’s suggestion of selling yourself would be a good idea.
Jaehyun stood by the door. From the outside, you can see the customer you have been noticing for days approaching the shop. He’s pretty late today. “And be careful outside. There might be people after you.”
If there is one thing that Jaehyun was right about, it is the fact that you were stubborn. It was the reason why you still went to the mafia’s house even if your father told you not to get involved. Yet why are his words repeating in your mind? It wasn’t a big deal. You pushed a guy when you saw that he was in trouble. Anyone could easily do it. But why is it bugging you like this?
Another is his warning. You didn’t try to notice it before but you were so paranoid right now that you do feel that someone is following you. Why did you leave the shop this late? You should have just come to work early tomorrow to do the inventory and not today.
From the windows of the closed shop, you can spot a tall man in sunglasses walking in the same way as you are. The same eerie man who kept coming back to your shop for days. Is he following you? Why? Hastily, you made a sharp turn to a dark alleyway and started scrambling to get something from your bag, the pepper spray Sophie had given you for this situation.
You weren’t surprised when he appeared in front of you. But your eyes widened in surprise when you heard a gunshot followed by the man falling on the ground, blood quickly pooling on your feet. You looked up to see a familiar pair of dark, predatory orbs staring at the body in front of you while putting down the gun he obviously used.
Why is the mafia boss here? And why did he kill this person in front of you? “Take him.” You saw how the man with brown hair, who you remembered as Mark, appeared in the alleyway and started dragging the bloody away. You only stared at the trail of blood, your heart thumping fast that you could feel your face heat up.
“You didn’t have to kill him, boss.” You knew that voice. Jaehyun. “How can we get information from him?” He walked to where you are, greeting you casually. “We’re seeing you too often, Y/N.”
“What’s happening? Why…?”
“His group is kidnapping girls and selling them as prostitutes to the black market.” It was Yuta who said those words, keeping his gun on the holster by his belt.
Jaehyun grinned. “You’re lucky you didn’t get kidnapped and sold.” Wow, you thought, you really attract the things you were thinking about. Aren’t you just considering selling yourself? You didn't know you could be near that plan because of that eerie man. “Didn’t I warn you to be careful?” he asked, wiping something from your cheeks. The handkerchief has a splotch of blood that startled you.
“You can keep on flirting all you want. I’ll leave first.” The leader just turned around and started walking away without looking back. You wanted to thank him for saving you but you cannot find your voice or your courage for that matter.
Jaehyun asked to drive you home which you didn’t turn down because of what happened earlier. You can still feel your hands shaking at the thought of the vivid scene. Instead of just the street heading to your home, he actually dropped you in front of your house. He handed you his card once again, “I’m not doing this to flirt with you. But if you needed anything, just call.” You nodded, putting the card in your pocket before going out of his car. You thanked him and he immediately left.
You breathed heavily before heading inside your house. You cannot show your father that you're shaken up like this. Calm down, Y/N. You're safe now. That wouldn't happen again. “Who’s that?” Your dad asked once you were inside the house, him staring outside the window. “Why are you coming home in a car?”
You didn’t want to lie to your dad but you didn’t want to tell him the truth either. “It was Sophie’s boyfriend. He just gave me a ride home since it’s late.” Maybe a little white lie wouldn’t hurt. You cannot let him know that you’re now involved with the mafia he owes money from.
Then that sentence replayed to you. Jaehyun was right once again. You are now involved with the mafia. They know who you are, where you work, and where you live.
The shaking of your hands came back, heart thumping real fast that you felt your face will burst from the heat. You will never be safe from now on, Y/N.

rec:
connie x y/n date at the zoom🦙
Lions & Polar Bears
Pairing: connie x gn! reader
Summary: You and Connie go on a cute date to the zoo.
Genre: Fluffy af
Warnings: none
authors note: glad I am finally posting this. It's been in my drafts for months and wanted to send it out earlier, but writer's block and a bit of seasonal depression hit and I wanted to end it good.
okay and ngl, towards the end it’s really fluffy and totally cringe and cliche so I’m excited. also i'm pretty sure I used only gender neutral terms in regards to the reader, but if you catch something I missed just lmk :)
——— he's literally adorable-
Tumblr media
“Babe, look at the wolves!” Connie gushes out to you and grabs your hand.
He’s been dying to go to the zoo lately, so he was ecstatic when you bought the tickets online to surprise him. Apparently it was the best gift you could’ve gotten him, as Connie turned into a kid going to Disneyland for the first time.
“I see, baby.” You smile at him and link your arms with him. A few people surrounded you, but thankfully you took a day off of work so it wouldn’t be as crowded as it would on a weekend. “What do you wanna go see see next?”
He hovers over your shoulder, glancing between the park map and the wolf enclosure. “The elephants are near by. Can we go see them?”
“Of course.”
Your local zoo was a popular tourist spot since it was also a rescue center for the animals, thankfully not just some poor creatures behind a steel fence.
It was pretty humid unfortunately, but you and Connie prepared. Both of you were twinning with a couple anime t-shirts and shorts with a pair of sunglasses.
He dragged you through the park, hand desperately clutching onto to yours in hope you’ll match his speed. “C’mon, slowpoke. Don’t make me carry you.”
“If you do in front of all these people, you can sleep with the polar bears tonight.”
“What’s the difference?”
He earned himself a light smack to the back of his buzzed head.
————
It was around noonish by the time your stomach started growling. Between the sun, the humidity, and walking, plus the water bottles you stored in your little backpack were rapidly declining.
“Baby, we should find somewhere to eat real quick.” You tell him as the smell from the food stands started to waft in your nose.
“Weak.” He replied.
“Oh, I’m sorry. Most people don’t survive off of Oreos and a redbull.”
“Ugh, fine- whatever Mom.”
Connie laughed at the glare you sent his way. He wasn’t wrong though. He sure acted like a kid rather than an adult, but his goofy personality was what you liked about him. “Okay, okay, what do you want to eat?”
After various glances between the different food stands, you both decided on getting burgers, which made your stomach growl even more.
Connie came up behind you and placed a hand tenderly on your stomach, “Hey quiet that thing down, it’s gonna attract the animals.”
“Sorry, my handler hasn’t fed me yet.” You let out a giggle as Connie places a small kiss on your cheek.
“Let’s go, babe.”
————
After a good meal of overpriced food, the hiking up the many hills of the zoo were no match for you two.
“You liked the elephants?” You asked and swung your clasped hand with his. He’s been in a great mood all day and you couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride in yourself that you made the right choice in buying the tickets.
“Yes, you’re the best,” He gave you a kiss. “What do you wanna see?”
A confused look took over your face and your eyebrows raised from behind the lenses of your sunglasses.
“Uhh, it’s only like 2:00 pm…” You tell him. “Why do you think I spent the night at your place? I made sure I was going to wake your ass up early, babe. We’re gonna see everything.”
Connies brain felt like it was short-circuiting.
“You okay? You look liked you’re about to faint.”
His hand squeezed yours in response and he nods, a small tint of pink staining his cheeks. “Yeah.” He let out a small chuckle as you started dragging him toward the lion exhibit. “Never been better, actually.”
“C’mon! They have a show soon, let’s go watch.”
———
“This is Mila,” The zookeeper’s voice rang through the small headset from atop a podium. “She’s a lioness who was rescued from poachers about five years ago. We got a call from a rescue organization out there and we managed to send a team out to safely get her and her cubs out.”
The lioness sat comfortable on top of the large rock platform. Her eyes scanned the crowd of guests before sharply shifting her gaze to her cubs. The two smaller lions started nipping at each other playfully, definitely putting on a show for the crowd.
“They’ve grown a lot since they’ve been rescued, but a mother never stops being a mother.” The keeper laughs as Mila starts to trek towards them. The two quickly separated, their manes bustling with movement.
A deep and almost guttural noise echoed through the enclosure. Mila and the zookeepers attention shifted to the noise.
“How exciting, it looked like our male lion, Apollo, has woken up from his afternoon nap.”
“That’s something you two have in common.” You playfully elbow Connie in the ribs.
“Ha, you think you won, but I don’t see how being compared to a lion is bad.”
The crowd let out sounds of wonder as Apollo made his appearance. The lion stood strong with his large and dark mane.
“Apollo was transferred from another zoo due to issues with mating with another lioness. We were a bit nervous when he was relocated here, since we didn’t know how he would react to Mila and her cubs.”
While Connie pretty much had a front row seat, a few people started to trickle in closer and obstruct your vision, but you didn’t mind. He looked back towards you and pulled your arm to make you move closer as the crowd started to ‘aw’ at the lions. He pushed you in front of him so you could see what was going on.
A cub slowly emerged from under Apollo’s legs. The little cub seemed skittish from all the attention, but a slight bump from Mila encouraged her to move out from Apollo.
“As you can see, the two have bonded very well and had Serene. Normally, male lions won’t really take part in raising cubs, only seeing it as a the lionesses job. They mostly add protection and watch over the pride while the mothers go out to hunt. After Serene was born, he immediately showed signs of care, which surprised us, and he always has her in his sights. Talk about daddy’s little girl.”
“Dude, that’s so cute.” Connie wrapped his arms around your front and rested his chin on the top of your head.
As the show continued, the zookeeper gave out other information about the lions and Mila’s family.
“Hey, I think it’s ending soon.” Connie’s voice whispered in your ear. “Wanna beat the crowd and go check out the llamas?”
“Whatever you want to do, Connie.”
And with that, you both snuck out and headed for the llamas.
“Holy shit, they’re fluffy.” He gaped at the animals.
“Connie, there’s kids here.” You whispered as a few parents glanced in your direction at his profanity.
“So? Take them to Disneyland then. The animals won’t censor their lives, why should I?”
You shrugged off the glares, he did have a point. The pack of llamas and alpacas were sifting past each other behind the fence. The smell was… tolerable- kinda and globs of spit dribbled down some of their mouths. You decided it was safe to keep your distance.
“Would you like to pet him?” One of the handlers asked.
“Wait- yes, can I?” Connie asked.
You quickly take out your phone and snap a few pictures of Connie with the llama. His hand gently rubbed the furry muzzle and the llama bleated a bit at the touch. It was going great, until a large thick glob of spit trailed down Connie’s wrist and down his elbow.
“Careful-! Sorry, he’s drools a lot. Here’s a tissue.”
———
After many more hours of seeing the animal habitats, the sun started to set. The warm summer atmosphere started to glow dim with dark colors painting the sky. Torches and lamps illuminated the walk ways and guests were busy trying to catch the last shows and exhibits before closing.
“Babe, let’s go to the gift shop.” Connie drags you towards the small shop, like a little kid in a toy store… literally.
The shop was filled with souvenirs ranging from magnets, water bottles, and plushies. The cute jungle theme was spread throughout the store with bamboo flooring and vines hanging from the ceiling.
It’s only been a few months of you two dating, but you’ve both have been inseparable. There was never a dull moment with Connie. Weekends could either be going to a dive bar or watching Netflix with takeout, which both of you never minded. He was also treated you like royalty too, always opening the doors, complimenting you when you’re feeling down, fuck- even tying your shoes.
Your thoughts were interrupted when Connie shoved a monkey plushie in your face. Blinking your eyes to focus, you took in it’s abnormal appearance: wide body, small head, scrawny legs.
“Look how ugly this thing is!” He laughed and tossed it back in the basket with the others.
You chuckled at him and glanced at the other plushies. An adorable lion caught your eyes and you picked it up. The soft fuzz from the mane tickled your fingers. “You’re coming home with me.”
Connie bumped into you and you both made eye contact, a light blush heating up your faces. He cradled a polar bear plushie in his hands.
“That’s the one?” You asked, your gaze fixed on the stuffed animal.
His eyes never left you. “Y-yeah.”
After paying for both the plushies, it was finally time to go home. The plushies rested under your arm as the two of you walked back to Connie’s car hand in hand.
The other families were trailing slowly to the exit with exhausted kids sleeping in their parents arms and strollers.
“Thank you for today.” He said once you two reached the parking lot.
“Of course, baby.” You squeezed his hand tighter. “I’m glad you had fun.
“Nah, like…” Connie trailed off for a moment, biting his lip. “You don’t understand.”
Your head creaked to the side in confusion. “Understand what?”
“Fuck, like other people I’ve dated in the past never really enjoyed doing stuff like this.”
He walked you to the passenger door of his car.
"The zoo? Who doesn't like the-"
“Nah, they’ve always wanted to go clubbing every night or go to five star restaurants- and like don’t get me wrong, I like to go out and get fancy once in a while too.”
“But it’s draining. Overall it wasn't what you wanted to do, was it? Plus we’re young and broke, who can afford it in this economy?” You finished for him with a giggle.
A sigh of relief escaped him. “You get it.”
Your hand reached up and swiped through his hair. “I do. Wanna get Taco Bell on the way home?”
“Dammit, how are you-”
"So perfect for me," he wanted to say. “Fuck it, Y/n, I love you.”
Your breath hitched in your throat and Connie looked like he was about to pass out- again. A warmth flooded through your body and you couldn’t help the smile forming.
“I love you too.”
He was wide-eyed. “R-really? You aren’t just saying that cause I did? It’s okay if you don’t yet- or if you never do- wait…”
A loud laugh escaped you as he continued to ramble. “Connie, I love you too.”
Connie let out a heavy sigh. “That’s a relief, the drive home would’ve just been...” He whistled lowly.
You leaned up to kiss him. “Get in the car, I’m hungry again.”
————
Connie finally pulled into the parking lot of his apartment complex. The music was playing lowly in the background and his hand never left your thigh the entire drive. Taco wrappers and hot sauce packets littered the floor by your feet and both plushies resided with you under your seatbelt so they could be safe.
“Y/n, babe, wake up. We’re home.” He gently shook your sleeping form.
A grumbled left your lips, but you didn’t stir. Connie grabbed the trash and threw it out in a nearby bin then opened your door. He reached over and unbuckled your seatbelt. The two plushies found their way into your tiny backpack which Connie reluctantly put on.
“Come on, my little polar bear.” He laced your arms around his neck and edged you off the seat. Your legs wrapped around his torso and his arm secured itself under your butt to support you. You hummed into his neck, ever so grateful he was carrying you.
“Fuck, maybe I should’ve called you a koala instead.”

“This is our estate Cabernet Sauvignon.”
You lifted the glass to your lips and copied the sommelier — swirling the wine around in the glass and taking a deep sniff before taking a sip.
“You’ll taste the rich, dark berry profile, as well as a hint of tobacco. Now this wine in particular has a medium tannin build, so it’s slightly dry, but with a very smooth finish.”
Jake took a second sip of his wine and you could have sworn he worked for the CIA for how little information his facial features gave away about whether or not he enjoyed it.
“Now I’m going to go grab our next bottle from the cellar and we will open that in fifteen minutes,” the sommelier, a tall man with broad shoulders, said. “I’ll let you enjoy the cab.”
You smiled as he passed your table before turning to Jake.
“What do you think?” you asked him, nodding toward the selection of wine glasses on the table. You had tried four different bottles over the course of the last ninety minutes, and the alcohol was going to your head.
“Can I be honest?” Jake whispered softly, leaning over the table, the collar of his polo almost skimming the lip of one of his discarded glasses.
“Of course.”
“They all taste the damn same.”
You laughed, a loud cackle, and had to lean back with your hand pressed over your mouth while Jake’s face cracked into a smile. “You’re going to get us kicked out,” you whispered after the laughter subsided and Jake simply shook his head, leaning back and pushing his sunglasses back over his eyes. He was effortlessly handsome. You had watched multiple women follow him with their eyes as he got up earlier to use the bathroom. There was something almost primal in the pride you had knowing he was yours. .
After the tasting wrapped, Jake took your hand and led you out to the gardens. “Are you having a nice time?” he asked softly.
You stopped walking, pulling him in closer and knotting your hands behind his neck. “Jake, I’m having the absolute best time. Thank you for bringing me here.” As you leaned up to kiss him, his fingers found your waist, pulling you flush against him and you moaned into his mouth as you felt his erection brush against your upper hips.
Now that you knew what it was like to fuck Jake, you didn’t think you’d ever be able to go back to anything else. Anyone else.
“What’s next on the agenda?” you asked, your lips still bruised from the night before.
“We have dinner reservations at 8:30 in St. Helena,” he said. “They’re supposed to have a great halibut.”
You nodded. “That sounds nice. Or, we could go back to the hotel, order room service, and eat in bed naked.”
Jake’s eyes widened and you felt his hand slip down to the pocket of your jeans, squeezing your ass. “God, woman, you read my mind.”
Your chuckle was cut short by his mouth on yours, and when he pulled away you felt a gust of fresh air that left you cold and needy. “Where are you going?” you whined as he pulled his phone out of his pocket.
“Calling to cancel our reservation,” he said, “and to have the driver pull around. I’m taking you home now.”
“But the cellar tour doesn’t start for fifteen more minutes!”
He shook his head. “We’re not gonna make it, sweetheart.” You saw the lust in his eyes. “Tell them we’ll take three bottles of the 2015 estate cabs.”
Jake ducked and pressed the slim phone to his ear and you smiled as he walked off, admiring him from afar.
Once the flood gates had opened, it was hard to keep your hands off each other. Jake’s fingers inched dangerously close to your core as he rested his hand on your leg during the drive back to the vineyard, the driver up front blissfully unaware of how badly you wanted to straddle Jake in the back seat.
“I can’t wait to be inside of you again,” he whispered into your ear as the car turned onto the resort’s main road and you felt yourself pulsating around nothing, growing more desperate as the minutes ticked by.
The sun started to dip down as Jake tugged your hand, practically dragging you into the room and you giggled as he shut the door behind him, a tent already forming in his pants.
“Aren’t you a little eager,” you tutted, running your hand over his crotch and he whimpered, shutting his eyes and leaning back against the door.
“Don’t tease me, baby,” he whispered gruffly but you knew that he loved it.
“That’s all I know how to do,” you replied, already shrugging off your jeans and sweater, shoes long discarded, and Jake licked his lips, ripping his shirt off and meeting you, breathless, in the middle of the room, your bare chests pressed together.
When you broke apart, your hands were already on his belt, pushing down his pants. Jake grunted into your shoulder as you took him into your hand, slowly pumping down his full length.
“Sit down,” you whispered softly and Jake took a seat on the edge of the bed, fully naked. You knelt down between his legs, fingers skimming over his thighs, before leaning forward and taking his cock into your mouth, tongue pressed up flat against the underside of his tip.
He threw his head back with an open-mouth moan, which only spurred you on more. You wrapped your hand around the base of his cock, tipping forward and taking him deeper into your throat and one of Jake’s hands came out to brush your hair out of your face, pulling it into a makeshift ponytail. “Fuck, Nat, you’re so good at that. Such a pretty little mouth all over my cock,” he whispered, his voice breaking as another moan ripped through him.
You felt Jake’s hips lift up from the bed, trying desperately to get you to take all of him in your mouth. It caused you to choke, a strangled sound bubbling out of the corners of your mouth along with saliva as he rammed hard into your mouth, and Jake immediately pulled back once he saw the wetness in your eyes, lifting your face off of him and wiping the tears from your cheeks. “Shit, honey, are you OK? I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have done that.” There was a hint of panic in his deep voice.
You chuckled and leaned back on your ankles. “Jake, it’s fine, honestly. I’ve been choked by dick before.”
The hardness in Jake’s eyes scared you. He wasn’t laughing with you. For a second, you were almost worried he was going to get up and walk away. You’d been judged by men in the past for your sexual history. There was an unfair bias against women who had experienced multiple partners, but for men it was a point of pride.
You just had never thought Jake would be one of those guys. Maybe you were finally unearthing one of his red flags.
You stood up, wiping at your mouth. “What is it?” Your voice was hard, unrelenting. It was difficult to feel powerful when you were standing in nothing but a light blue thong but you didn’t want to give him the satisfaction of knowing that he had caught you off guard.
Jake shook his head. “I just never want to be the kind of guy who does something to you that you don’t enjoy, solely for my benefit.”
Those were the last words you expected to fall from his mouth.
Jake stood, cupping his hands around your cheeks. “Natalie, sweetheart, you deserve the world. Inside and outside of the bedroom. Now come here, let me make it up to you.”
His hands slid down and grabbed you under your ass, pulling you into his arms, pressing his mouth against yours and your body instantly reacted to him, fingers tugging at his hair, wetness pooling in your panties as his cock dragged across your pelvis.
He laid you down gently on the bed, snuggling in next to you until you two were spooning. Jake pulled your panties down and flung them over the edge of the bed, settling his large fingers between your legs. While lying on your left side, you lifted your right leg over his, giving Jake more access to your core, and he pressed down on your swollen clit, making you gasp. “Like that, baby?” he whispered softly in your ear, trailing light kisses down your neck and you laid back against him, moaning under his tongue. Jake sped up his pace before dipping lower, circling your entrance and finally pushing two fingers in, filling you up as you chanted his name. His other hand slid beneath your body, holding your waist firmly, and you could feel how hard he was against your ass.
“Please, Jake,” you moaned, “need you in me.”
Behind you, Jake grunted and you shifted your hips back against him, feeling him line himself up with your entrance. The tip of his cock was warm and wet and he swore lightly as he pushed the head inside of you, feeling your walls suck him in greedily. “Shit,” he murmured against your shoulder.
“Yes, baby,” you muttered, gripping the sheets as he pressed in deeper.
Jake’s hand moved up to cup your breast, fingers tight across your nipple, as his hips snapped against yours from behind. “Fuck, you’re so perfect,” Jake whispered raggedly in your ear, picking up his pace. “Such a good girl,” he muttered, rutting into you harder and you gasped as his cock hit deeper inside of you.
You could feel yourself edging closer to orgasm, even without Jake touching your clit, the pressure building as he repeatedly hit your front wall. “Jake, yes,” you moaned as his fingers trailed over your stomach and pressed firmly into your lower abdomen. “Fuck, please, make me cum.”
“Cum for me sweetheart,” he murmured against you, arms tightening and pulling your body against him as his hips smacked against yours, the loud sound filling the room. “Want to feel your perfect pussy clenching around me.”
“Shit!” you cried out, convulsing against Jake as he grunted, hand digging into your hip, cock sliding in and out faster as he chased his own high.
“Fuck, Nat!” he sobbed, pushing into your deeper one last time and you felt his cock twitch inside of you as he poured into your core.
Jake didn’t pull out immediately. Instead, he moved his arms up until he was holding you around the middle, kissing your shoulder.
“Baby,” he whispered softly and you closed your eyes. “I am so damn lucky.”
Your fingers pressed against his. You didn’t need to say anything. He knew what you were thinking, because he was thinking it, too.
You loved Jake Seresin.
And you were pretty sure he loved you back.
***
“I think it’s time.” Jake’s voice was velvety over the phone.
“Time for what?” you said, yawning. You were lying in bed, about to go to sleep. It had been a long day at the office and your brain was scrambled eggs.
“For you to meet Ellie.” You shot up in bed to a seated position, your eyes wide. You and Jake had been together nearly three months at this point. “Are you sure?”
“I’m just deciding things as I go, Nat,” he said quietly into the phone. “I haven’t done this before. As a parent, you have to be really careful about who you introduce to your child. You need to make sure they’re someone who is going to stick around. I can’t bring people into Ellie’s life who are just going to be fleeting characters.”
He paused.
“So I guess I’m asking you, sweetheart. Are you ready?”
You nodded and then realized he couldn’t see you through the phone. “Yes, Jake, I want to meet her. I’m ready.”
***
Standing on the wrap around porch of Jake’s house, you could almost feel the warmth inside. Jake had invited you over for their annual Christmas tree night: set up the tree, bake cookies, watch a movie. You got the feeling that it was a tradition that he and Ellie held very dearly, and you were honored to be included.
Taking a few deep breaths, you lifted your fingers and knocked on the door.
It swung open to reveal Jake wearing a green cable knit sweater and jeans, smiling broadly.
“Hi,” you whispered softly.
“Hey there,” he said and you had expected him to lean in for a kiss, until you saw the small fingers wrapped around his leg. “Come on in.”
He shut the door behind you and you smiled, Ellie’s small golden head peeking out from behind Jake.
“Ellie, honey, this is daddy’s friend Natalie. Can you say hi?”
You crouched down and smiled and Ellie slowly let go of her dad’s leg, stepping to the side. “Hi!” Her voice was squeaky and delightful. She wore a small red dress with white tights, her lips a shiny pink, her blonde curls pulled back from her face with a small bow clip.
“Hi, it’s so nice to meet you,” you said softly. “Your dad has told me so much about you.”
She smiled. “You’re pretty.”
Jake laughed and held out a hand, pulling you to standing. “Yes, she is,” he said gently. “Come on, sweetpea, let’s go check on the cookies.”
Ellie grinned, and you saw Jake so plainly etched across her features, before darting down the hallway toward what you could only assume was the kitchen. Jake turned to you and once Ellie was out of view, pressed his lips to yours softly.
“Thanks for coming,” he murmured.
“Thanks for inviting me.”
He placed his hand on the small of your back, leading you to the kitchen. Jake’s house was traditional, with white walls and mid-wall paneling, soft wooden accents, and hardwood floors. It felt straight out of a southern magazine. You had to stop yourself from searching for photos of Lizzie to make comparisons with yourself.
In the kitchen, Ellie kneeled on a stool, her small hands pressing into a blob of pale cookie dough and she had somehow managed to get white flour all down the front of her dress in the thirty seconds it had taken you and Jake to follow her down the hall.
“Sweetheart, did you spill?” Jake asked softly, crossing the room and pulling Ellie into his arms, dusting the flour from her dress as she laughed.
“Daddy!” she squealed. “Let me go!”
He set her back down on the chair she had been kneeling on, and waved you over. “Come help us, Nat. We’re terrible at cutting the cookies.”
“I’m making Santa hats,” Ellie said, looking up at you. You recognized Jake’s green eyes looking out at you from her delicate face and stepped closer, rolling up the sleeves of your sweater and turning to the sink.
“Wow Santa hats,” you said, washing your hands and patting them dry with a towel before returning to the other side of the kitchen island. “How are you going to decorate them?”
“With frosting!”
Her smile was infectious. Jake patted her head softly. “The frosting is her favorite part. Well that, and eating the raw cookie dough.”
You watched Ellie sneak an edge of raw dough in her mouth and give you a sly grin. You reached down and popped a scrap of sugar cookie dough into your mouth and Ellie giggled. “That’s my favorite part too,” you whispered.
It felt almost surreal watching Jake interact with Ellie. You knew that he was sweet and kind, but this was a new side of him that you got a front row seat to. The way he grinned at her and laughed as she wiped her flour-covered hands on his sweater. How his voice dipped into a softer register when he was showing her how to transfer the cookies onto the baking tray, the way he seamlessly chatted with her while mixing food coloring into the frosting bowls.
Jake had tied an apron around you, but by the time the cookies were done baking you were still covered in flour and frosting and sprinkles. At one point you had accidently dropped almost an entire bottle of green sprinkles on the counter, and Ellie proceeded to dip her Santa hat cookie in it, resulting in a hybrid of elf hats alongside the red Santas.
“We’ll be right back, sweetheart,” Jake said to Ellie, patting her head where she sat on the couch. “Going to find Natalie a clean shirt to wear and when I come back we can start getting the Christmas tree decorated, OK?”
She nodded excitedly and he pressed the TV on, starting The Grinch, the Jim Carrey version, and placed his hand on your lower back, leading you upstairs to the master bedroom. Jake opened a drawer and pulled out a soft flannel button down.
“Does this work?” he asked, eyeing your dirty sweater.
“Perfect.”
You reached out and took it in your hands, skin brushing against Jake. For a moment, you could tell there was something he wanted to say. But then he simply smiled. “I should get back down there,” he replied. “Come down whenever you’re ready.”
You nodded and watched him disappear down the stairs. Stripping off your dirty sweater, you pulled on Jake’s flannel, which fell to your knees but you didn’t care. You folded the used sweater and placed it on the ground before standing up and coming face-to-face with a wedding photo of Jake and Lizzie.
To your horror, she looked just like the woman from your dream. She was unapologetically beautiful. Creamy skin, shiny blonde hair that fell in silky waves, bright white smile, piercing blue eyes. Her nose was slightly crooked, like Ellie’s, and the way Jake looked at her in the photo made your heart plummet in your chest. You had never once seen him look so happy. So at ease. It broke your heart a little to know that Jake had lost someone who made him look that way.
The knowledge that you were standing in the bedroom that Jake once, in not the too distant past, shared with his wife was too much. It felt stifling. You took a deep breath and hurried down the stairs.
From around the corner, you saw Jake bent over a green storage container, handing a small woven ornament to Ellie. She grabbed it lightly and then you watched as he picked her up, holding her out so she could place it on a branch at his eye level. When he put her back down she excitedly reached back into the storage container for another ornament.
Watching them felt like looking at a stopped movie frame. Fire roaring away, a Christmas movie playing in the background, the scent of fresh cookies still clinging to the air.
It scared you how much you wanted to stay there in that moment. Just a slice of time, perfectly frozen.
How much you wanted to be part of their lives.
The rest of the night was spent helping Jake and Ellie decorate the tree. You loved that they used colored lights, and packed the ornaments onto every available space. There were ones from places they had traveled together, like a Disneyland ornament from the year before, and homemade ones Ellie had done at daycare.
When you sat down to finish the movie, Jake seamlessly handed you a glass of wine from your Napa trip, pulling Ellie onto his lap, her tiny feet in her white stockings kicking at his legs until he whispered into her ear and she giggled before settling down.
By the time the Grinch had returned the Whos’ Christmas gifts and decorations, you looked over to see Ellie asleep on Jake’s chest. He leaned over and pressed the remote, pausing the movie, and you saw Ellie stir in his arms.
“Daddy?” she whispered softly. “Is it over?”
“It is,” he said back quietly. “Time for bed princess. Did you have a nice night?”
She nodded and wiped at her eyes with small balled up fists before turning to you. “Natalie?” Her voice was soft and groggy.
“Yeah hon?”
“Will you come back for our next movie night?”
Your heart swelled. Above Ellie’s head, you saw Jake’s eyes light up. You reached out and patted her knee. “I’d love to.”
“Good.”
Jake lifted her up into his arms, her chin resting on his shoulder. He mouthed to you. I’ll be right back. And then they were disappearing around the corner, up the stairs.
You drained the rest of your wine by the time Jake came back downstairs. He caught you leaning over the sink, eating an elf hat cookie and wiping the crumbs on his flannel and he laughed.
“Busted.”
You turned around, cookie crumbs on the corners of your mouth, and Jake stepped forward, wiping them away with his thumb.
“There, all clean.”
“What can I say, the kid makes a damn good cookie.”
He reached down and threaded his fingers in yours. “You were amazing with her.”
“She’s lovely, Jake. Honestly. I wasn’t sure what to expect but it’s obvious you’ve done a phenomenal job raising her.”
There was a pause and you saw the lump growing in Jake’s throat. “It was mostly Lizzie,” he said softly. “Up until last year, I was barely around. I didn’t even know her, really. She grew so much every time I would see her between deployments, it was like she was a whole new person every time I came home. But now that I’m here with her, every day, it’s different.”
“You can take some credit,” you whispered, leaning up and wrapping your arms around his neck. “You’re an amazing dad.”
He smiled but you saw the sadness that had made itself a home in his eyes.
“Thank you for letting me meet her,” you said quietly. “For taking a risk on me.”
Jake leaned down and brushed the hair from your face, tucking it behind your ear. His lips pressed against yours softly before he pulled away, leaning his forehead down against yours. “You’re worth the risk, Nat,” he murmured softly. “You’re exactly what I didn’t even know I was looking for.”

A loud thud wakes you up.
You squirm your eyes from fighting the light that passes through your window. Still, in the haze, you know it’s way earlier than the usual morning routines; in moments like this, you start to wonder about your life’s choices and how they constantly ruin your daily plans. As much as you don’t want to question yourself, some situations lead to doing it.
Despite the continuous thud from outside your room, it didn’t stop you from ignoring the ruckus, for you desperately wanted to return to the land of illusion. Last week took a toll on you; physically, mentally, and emotionally. Now that you have a one-day break, chances of recharging yourself are low considering that… Gojo Satoru is back from his mission.
“Oh please, no,” you desperately groan, rolling to the other side of the bed, trying your utmost best to drift back to sleep. Facing the door from afar, noticing the lights outside from your room, shadow walking back and forth, and some inaudible humming, your brows furrowed with hopes that your instinct is wrong.
Then an ear-splitting profanity made you sit on the bed.
Insufferable.
The word that describes everyone’s perception towards your coworker.
“This is supposedly a lovely day,” you grumble before climbing from bed, almost wanting to ignore the commotion outside.
Just as when you could enjoy a day away from responsibility, a constant reminder of yours appeared without notice and was now wreaking havoc on your home. In all aspects of your life, Gojo Satoru would just pop up anywhere, causing a ruckus that ends up with you - cleaning his mess.
Hurriedly wearing your silk robe to appear comfortable around people, especially him. You head outside, tying the robe, ensuring it won’t reveal the thin lace underneath.
“This is not the morning that I’ve been hoping,” you groggily mutter, but knowing who it would be, the thought riled you up, trying to drag yourself outside your room. Your body is already yearning the comfort of the mattress, and despite the urge to let the happenings unfold without intercepting, you cannot.
This is your home, your safe haven of all places; your coworker - Gojo Satoru, is impinging your sanity early in the morning!
Your home had never been this noisy apart from having so many visitors, your friends: Shoko, Principal Yaga, Nanami, and Satoru’s students, and yours. As a matter of fact, it would take more than two people for the noise to be the same as what wake you up, yet when it comes to someone like the intolerable-obnoxious-arrogant, Gojo Satoru, your little moments of tranquility will pop - taking you from your shelter and pushing your patience to the edge of despair.
This is a fact: he’s so energetic and extroverted that being around him stresses you more than your work.
The living room is clear, with no sign of the man you’d hope to kick out. However, it didn’t escape your sharp eyes, the disarranged pillows on the couch and a pair of sunglasses on the table; nonetheless, everything remains intact. You’re restraining yourself, it is still early, and you can tell by the ambiance of your unit. You could hear the crumpling of wrappers and humming from a distance, fueling your exasperation.
Closing your eyes, you heave a deep breath before proceeding to the kitchen. The hope inside you slowly dissipates as you get closer. The figure you saw in the hallway took your morning into a storm. What’s new? Whenever Gojo Satoru is around, you know there will be a lot of self-restraining due to the conceitedness clouding over him.
Leaning against the wall, you studied him as he was taking the time of the world. Acting like the unit’s owner, there are two large brown paper bags, and Satoru places the goods he had brought with him and arranges all of them on the counter. You could bite your tongue upon seeing the number of sweets he got; he has just that sweet tooth!
Crossing your arms, you tilt your head and run your eyes at him. Early in the morning, Gojo Satoru barges into your place, looking fresh with his clothes; the white polo shirt that perfectly fits his body is tucked in his pants, his sleeves are folded up to his elbow while his white hair is softly dangling around his face, those pair of blue eyes were twinkling out of happiness. He just looks so good.
You looked away, trying to calm yourself at the sight of him. Satoru looks so presentable. It hitches your breath; he knows his sense of fashion, which coincides with your taste in men. Several minutes have passed, and you’re still leaning against the wall, observing the intruder; you may not be able to notice nor admit it, but watching Satoru having so much enjoyment in bringing out the product he bought just makes you want to stop the time and be lost in this brief seconds.
He’s so carefree.
One of your capabilities is hiding your energy, making you a threat to your enemies. It will always be a nuisance, but it is a blessing to you; Satoru has still not noticed the presence despite him being the strongest, he can have his infinity, and you can have your phantom as what you would call. The boundary he creates may make him untouchable, and the way you seal your own energy makes you invisible; these traits are just the tip of the iceberg on why the upper ranks perceive you two as a threat.
Your techniques are different; it just makes you two invincible.
“I knew that bringing groceries was a good idea,” he looks so proud of his decision as he starts to rummage. “How could she survive with all of these stocks?” he utters, disgusted by your choice of products. “Ugh, I can’t help with her preference….”
One benefit that this technique of yours gives is the freedom to eavesdrop. Satoru does know when to ruin the warmth of the moment. In a blink, all the disdain you were dealing with just woke up with his choice of words; when you feel empathy towards him, he will do something to prove that he does not deserve such a notion.
“Care to tell me what time is it?”
Your breath hitches when he almost throws the jar of cube sugars; thankfully, his reflexes are fast. If it were not, then Satoru would see your wrath. You’re particular with your things and hate invading your stuff.
“Oh! Good morning, darling!” he glances at you before turning to the small jar with labels on it, “Tea or coffee?” he asks, showing you the choices with a beaming face.
It’s Sunday morning, a day in your life when you could just get away with everything and be at home. As much as you were anticipating a peaceful moment, the annoying white-haired man casually entered your home as if he owned the place.
“Or you want a hot chocolate?” he adds when you choose not to respond, staring at him, clearly pissed by his actions.
“This is my place, Satoru!”
“I never said it’s mine,” he tilts his head, feigning ignorance.
You walk up to him, grab the jar of tea he’s holding, and place it on the counter with a loud thump. Satoru followed your actions with his gaze, still nonchalant by your anger.
“I gave you a spare key in case of emergency….” Massaging your temples, you let out a frustrated sigh, causing the white-haired Satoru’s grin to grow wider. “Not to treat my home as a place for your leisure; this isn’t a public property, for heaven’s sake!”
Everyone who knows you is aware that it would take a lot of effort to bring down your calmness; your patience is on another level. Many tried and non succeed; Shoko even applauded your patience. Principal Yaga is fond of your self-discipline, yet unknowingly, it’s a walk in the park when Satoru pokes your thread of forbearance. He always knows the cracks in your barrier of tolerance.
“You look good in the morning,” he muses, changing the topic, comfortable leaning against the counter as he found so much joy in your countenance.
How he always finds your frustration entertaining is just an enigma. You strongly believe that everything that exists has its counterpart; day and night, strong and weak, and many other things. Is this also the way the universe tells you that this egotistical man is yours to identify with? With the differences and some similarities, it takes time to decipher.
One thing is for sure, however: Satoru is just a man with a hurricane of arrogance.
“Are you testing my patience, Gojo Satoru?” calling him by his complete name is an indication that your patience is running out; Satoru knows that because you only use it exclusively for him and on rare occasions, hence when you do, it means that you’re starting to get real serious. “Why are you here?”
He sighed, standing straight, and went near you, “Mornings shouldn’t be met with a frown,” he massaged your furrowed brows, and right before you could react against his fingers, he moved back to the counter.
“Cut the crap, you want something from me….”
“Am I not allowed to visit you?”
“Visit?” you scoff, “Satoru, you’re always at my office every day,” you pointed, walking to the other side of the counter. “Need I remind you how you always barge in without taking hints of my actions?”
You watch him as he takes two mugs and pours hot water. In contrast to your irritation, Satoru was just pacific; he even dared to chuckle at your indignation.
Satoru stopped arranging the goods he had brought and leaned against the counter. “Don’t be angry…” he turns to the products he brought with him, “here… I bought delicious food on my way here.” He shows you a food that you recognize very well. The two of you have known each other for years, and it would be stupid for Satoru to be unaware that you do not like sweets.
“That’s even your favorite food!” the thread of your patience snapped.
A loud chuckle echoed in the kitchen, and your breath hitched, silently controlling yourself from smacking him. He can always find his entertainment at the worst time. Satoru nods, looking at you weirdly like he has said something that upsets you.
“Yes… I never said it’s yours. I just said that ‘I bought delicious food’….” Satoru opens the wrapper, “I would love to share it with you; do you want some?” he adds, revealing his perfect white teeth.
“Don’t make me question my decisions, Satoru.”
“Do you really think of me as horrible?” he questions.
“Can you blame me for seeing you as one?” you counter, a smirk against your features.
He shrugs, “Tell me after this…” he carries the mug and places the tea before you. Satoru took something besides the products of sweets. It was bread - an expensive one. You noticed the packaging, it’s your favorite - the one you forced him to eat back in high school, but Satoru gagged. “I bought you this. I am not that selfish, darling. I cannot allow myself not to bring you something,” he pulls a chair. “Now, am I a horrible person?” Satoru smirks as he sits facing you.
It’s the truth. Never in those times when Satoru returned from his missions, he forgot to bring something for you. Last week, when he warped inside your office and took a rest, that day he just came back from his mission, and he even bought you cookies that you like.
“Hmm…” playfully squinting your eyes, you raised your hand with your thumb and index finger close to each other, “I think it’s like this,” you jested. “But seriously, what brings you here? It’s still early for you to barge into my personal spaces.”
“I was not aware that I have a schedule to follow,” he snorts, making you roll your eyes. “I know this is your break, but I could use some help; plus, you’re expecting I’ll come for your aid.”
You already know that he stirred some trouble with the upper ranks, and you already anticipated that he’ll come at your door.
Pursing your lips, you sigh, “What would you do without me?”
“I’ll still be me,” he grins, “simple as that.”
Sometimes, you would even think about how he could survive this world without someone to carry the consequences of his recklessness. But whenever you try to weigh his actions, you will always be there waiting for him at the end of the road.
“Try to sugarcoat it more, Satoru….” You sip your tea, amazed at how he tried to deny the truth.
Gojo Satoru is the parallel of your being; that extroverted man will always drain your energy faster than your ordinary stressors, but you could care less because he’s Gojo Satoru. You would not have in any way.
“This will gonna be a long day,” he huffs, sipping his coffee.
“Something happened?”
Propping his elbow on the test and intertwining his finger, he places his chin on his hand. “Take a guess.”
You rack your mind with the possibilities, and the man before you just silently watches as you try to connect the dots, “Is this about the vessel?” you pause, waiting for his answer; “I know that you could handle things like this, Satoru.”
“It would be better with you in it,” he admits stirring his coffee. “I need you as someone to prove to those old hags that Yuji can do well in this mission without causing too much ruckus.”
You already crossed paths with his students and even watched over them whenever he was away. You’re familiar with them, and as a teacher, you know how dear they are to Satoru because you are also close with your students.
Watching his distressed look due to the upper ranks, you heaved a deep breath that caught his attention.
“Fine,” you say with finality.
His lively demeanor quickly resurfaced, “Thank you for sticking up!” he adamantly pulled your hand and rains it with thousands of kisses. “I could not have it with anyone,” he mutters between the action.
At his gesture, you grabbed your arm away from his grasp, “It’s just us against the shitty system, Satoru,” you smiled through your cup of coffee. “In this battle, I’ll be with you, not that you have a choice,” you snorted, “I can always handle your imbecility.”
Satoru suppressed his smile, looking away as he tried to collect his thoughts. To him, you will always know what to say, he may always ruffle the feathers, but he knows that in every second pass, you will do everything to catch him. It has been like that since he asked you out years ago.
In your eyes, Satoru could see through your emotions, he knows about your feelings, and he certainly knows what you want. Hence, he’s willing to wait till he hears what he's hoping for since then.
For the first time, Satoru remained silent, enjoying the sweetness of the food he picked from his plate. When you noticed that, there was not even the slightest remark from him. You look surprised; finally, the idiot is silent, making your grin grow wider. Despite the eagerness to take capture of the moment, you didn’t in fear that he could come up with something that could turn the table.
“So this is how it feels to make Gojo Satoru shut up, huh?” you laugh between your teases, taking so much pride in your victory. “You’re blushing,” you point out, making the shade against his skin darker.
Satoru licked his finger and tilted his head, eyeing you with amusement, “Would you like to know the other method?” he bounced back and slowly lowered his gaze to your lips, making your eyes widen a second.
“You can shove the idea back at your mind, stupid.” you look away. This time it was you - fighting the urge not to let the hues of red showing in your skin.
Whenever you blush, Satoru finds it alluring that he has to restrain himself from caging you in his embrace and places his soft lips against yours. The subtle way of hiding it to rolling your eyes as to contradict it; he just loves your reaction to everything.
“By the way,” you clear your throat when you feel the warmth subside. “What’s with all those food?” you pointed at the newly arranged products that he busied him earlier.
“Oh, those?” he glimpse at them, “I always notice that you don’t have enough sweets, so I have to be the bigger person and stock as many sweets as I can get for myself.” he nonchalantly shrugs.
“You’re the worst!”
Insufferable. Everyone says the word whenever they are asked about their feelings toward Satoru. Although you could say it at times, in this instability of life, being in the presence of the strongest just brings calmness amidst the chaos.

My God, this is the best thing I've ever done for myself. I have a pair of prescription sunglasses now and life is wonderful. Do this for yourself. Not transitions. Sunglasses.
Go to zenni.com. stick your prescription and pupilary distance in there. Find some frames you like then pick literally any combination of tints and lense coating under the sun.
Frames start at 6.95 US dollars. The coatings and tints are more and shipping isn't free, (and it shouldn't because because that's someone's job) but I got myself custom anti smudge polarized prescription sunnies for under 50 bucks.
I am not getting paid for plugging zenni. I think everyone on earth who needs glasses should know about the widely available high quality low budget online glasses store. If you have 15 dollars and know your prescription you can get glasses. Your optometrist is legally required to give you a copy of your prescription btw, withholding it so you have to buy glasses through them is a crime, in the US.
