The First Official Gala Portrait of King Frederik X of Denmark and his Australian-born wife Queen Mary
The portrait, which shows the couple wearing the Order of the Elephant on chains, will be displayed in state institutions, including at Danish embassies and consulates around the world.
Taken at Christiansborg Palace in Copenhagen, it is the first photo of Mary wearing the crown jewels as queen since ascending the throne in January.
In the portrait, Mary wears an emerald set with a tiara, necklace earrings, and a large broach.
The set was designed by jeweller CM Weisshaupt and was a gift from Christian VIII to Queen Caroline Amalie, the Royal House states on its website.
The set’s emeralds and diamonds are partly reused items from the jewellery collection of Christian VI’s Queen Sophie Magdalene and from older bracelets, combined with newly purchased stones, the Royal House website states.
Mary also wears a diamond miniature portrait of the king in a bow of Order of Dannebrog ribbon, in keeping with the tradition of female members of the royal family wearing a portrait of the sovereign.

HOUSE OF BERNADOTTE (EST. 1818)
In grand palaces they reside, The Swedish royal family with grace and pride. Their lineage stretching far and wide, A legacy of power by their side. King and queen, princes and princesses, Adorned in jewels and lavish dresses. Their every move watched by the masses, Living a life filled with opulent excesses. The crown passed down for generations, A symbol of their noble stations. Duty and honor their obligations, Serving their people with dedication. A fairy tale brought to life, In a world of class and strife. The royal family shines so bright, Guiding a nation with their regal light. Long may they reign in splendor, In a world where their rule will never end. The royal family, a symbol so tender, Forever cherished, forever their kingdom defend.

Royal Tiara Challenge 2024
Day 12 - The Danish Ruby Parure Tiara
The Danish Ruby Parure Tiara
This tiara began its life as a series of hair combs, purchased by Jean-Baptiste Bernadotte for his wife, Desiree, to wear at Napoleon’s coronation in 1804. When Bernadotte was elected Crown Prince of Sweden, the rubies became royal jewels. The combs were made into a bandeau by Queen Alexandrine of Denmark, who had received them from her mother-in-law, Lovisa of Sweden. Queen Ingrid turned the bandeau into a grand wreath tiara, which is now worn by Crown Princess Mary of Denmark. - The court Jewellery.com

👑 Day Three: Favorite Norwegian Tiara
Norwegian Amethyst Tiara
Details from The Court Jeweler:
The amethyst and diamond parure consists of several pieces: a convertible necklace/tiara, a pair of earrings with removable drops, a ring, two bracelets that can be combined and worn together as a second necklace, and a brooch that can also be attached as a part of the bracelet-necklace. The provenance of the set has never been shared by the Norwegian royal family. While some have speculated that it may have been was a gift to Queen Sonja from her husband, King Harald V of Norway, others disagree. The jewelry historian Trond Noren Isaksen posits in his book, Ingrid Alexandras Arv, that the amethyst set was acquired from Garrard in the 1990s as a replacement for another jewel, a pink tourmaline tiara that had been purchased from the descendants of Countess Estelle Bernadotte. Isaksen writes that the tourmaline tiara, like Queen Maud’s Pearl Tiara, was stolen in the raid on Garrard’s London headquarters in February 1995.

Royal Tiara Highlights: Swedish Aquamarine Kokoshnik Tiara
It’s believed this tiara originally belonged to Margaret of Connaught, who was married to King Gustaf VI Adolf of Sweden and it is part of a set that also features a brooch. The maker of the set is unknown.
The set is believed to be under the possession of Princess Margaretha, sister of King Carl XVI Gustaf, but she chooses to keep it in the vaults with the rest of the Bernadotte jewels so other family members can wear it.

~ "Pair of antique amethyst and diamond ear pendants, part of the Swedish Royal amethyst parure, early 19th Century, designed as a pair of pear cut amethysts within old cut diamond surround, alternate by a foliate shaped motif, mounted in gold and silver. The parure has an interesting provenance, it was a gift by Napoleon to his first wife Empress Josephine. Joséphine de Beauharnais gave the amethyst parure to her daughter-in-law, Princess Augusta of Bavaria, who had married Eugène de Beauharnais in 1806, who became the Duke and Duchess of Leuchtenberg. Because Augusta’s father, King Maximilian I Joseph of Bavaria, gave the couple this name. Augusta passed the suite along to her own daughter, Joséphine of Leuchtenberg, when she married the future King Oscar I of Sweden and Norway in 1823. The amethysts have been in the Swedish royal collection ever since; today they are a part of the Bernadotte family jewel foundation, and so they cannot be sold." ~

The Ruby Set
The Ruby Set was first worn at Napoleon's imperial coronation in 1804 by Desiree, the later Queen of Sweden. The set came to Denmark in 1869, when her great-granddaughter Princess Lovisa married the Danish Crown Prince Frederik VIII. Queen Ingrid bequeathed the ruby set to Crown Prince Frederik.
The parure will be on display at Koldinghus as part of Mary & Kronprinsesserne. The exhibit runs from 1 February to 30 December 2022.
