Fooduary Day 2: Belgian Waffles
I am a waffle over pancakes kind of person, which do you favour? Also apparently the theme for this challenge is vague historical research bc I am cutting it close and all the sources disagree, I tried my best to find a sort of national Belgian folk dress but I had a devil of a time finding sources I felt confident about. I found this really fun celebration/folk dance that stuck out to me not only because of the playful energy but because I could find multiple photo references that were clearly of the same event or similar with a clear visual style I could extrapolate from. And the outfits all had layers of skirts/aprons that gave me a delicious opening for layers of waffles of course. The patterns and fruit allusions are decidedly fictional to reference waffle toppings but I think she turned out sweet ;)

Today's compilation:
Freezone 3/5 1996 Deep House / Downtempo / Trip Hop
Really living up to my own name here with something a little bit random today: a mid-90s 12-inch from an ambient and chill series called Freezone that was released by Belgian label SSR. Originally launched in 1994, Freezone ended up spawning seven total volumes that explored the bounds of ambient musicā€”as well as the many adjacent and hybrid genres that it combined itself with tooā€”and did so with nothing but exclusive tracks that were contributed by some of electronic and alternative music's biggest names.
So this little four-song record here represents a slice of Freezone's third installment, which was subtitled as Horizontal Dancing. Issued in multiple formats, Horizontal Dancing could be acquired as either a double-disc, a quintuple-vinyl, or, sort of oddly, as five separate 12-inches that made up that quintuple-vinyl version itself, all of which could be purchased individually. And, well, today I have one of those separate 12-inches for you allā€”the third one šŸ˜….
Now, obviously, there are two sides to this record, but in my estimation, one of them is great and the other one is good. And the great one is the A-side, which consists of a sweet banger from Chicago deep house legend Glenn Underground and a spacious downtempo and trip hop wanderer from short-lived UK duo 2 Player.
Glenn Underground's track is called "Tribe of Benjamin," and while it takes a little bit of time to really start to find its footing, when it eventually does, it's pretty fantastic. You kinda feel like Glenn's decided to settle on this little plateau in the early going with a somewhat meager combination of these little stabby string synths, a phat and fuzzy bassline, and a popping bit of percussion that smacks of this little piece from Andrea True Connection's disco classic, "More, More, More"ā€”which would then later be sampled by Canadian alternative rap group Len for their all-time summer classic, "Steal My Sunshine"ā€”but what you're not ready for is all the breathy flute that unexpectedly comes and cinches it all together šŸ˜Œ. And then following that section, the song proceeds to flow and grow into a fuller track, allowing for some chilly keyboard chords and squealy strings to be added into the mix as well. Sleekly premium mid-90s Windy City deep house groove there šŸ‘.
And then for that 2 Player joint, we have "Arizona," an excellently chill and Middle Eastern-tinted vibe with blowing wind, rattling rattlesnake tails, and a whole lot of varied synth work that more or less speaks to the expertise of both of the duo's own members. In '95, they debuted with a 12-inch on UK electronic powerhouse Ninja Tune, then in' 96, they made this exclusive for Freezone 3, and since then, Daniel Pemberton has gone on to become a renowned composer for film, TV, and videogames, with his biggest claims to fame being his scorings of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse, its sequel, and Ocean's 8; and Jon Tye would further grow his own leftfield electronic label, Lo Recordings, which has been able to boast a catalog that consists of Aphex Twin, Susumu Yokota, Squarepusher, Red Snapper, Fischerspooner, Blur, Grimes, Luke Vibert, Jean Jacques Perrey, Rothko, Four Tet, and Thurston Moore šŸ˜Æ. Quite a varied set of talented folks there!
So a couple dope and exclusive 90s electronic gems on this Belgian 12-inch that happens to form one-fifth of a much larger compilation. Like I said, the flipside of this record is good tooā€”a solid deep house cut from Matthew Herbert aka Doctor Rockit aka Wishmountain and a downtempo/ambient tune from longtime Scottish trip hopper Howie B.ā€”but I don't think that either of those offerings are really as enjoyable as what's on the A-side here.
Highlights:
Glenn Underground - "Tribe of Benjamin" 2 Player - "Arizona"

15 People, 15 Questions
I was tagged by @plumcoloredblazer -- sorry it took me a hot minute to get to it! I appreciate it. <3
1. Are you named after anyone?
I've long disliked that none of my names are 'mine', in that both my first and middle names are from other people -- my first is my maternal grandfather's middle name (which he also sorta went by), while my middle name is my mother's middle name (which she went by when we moved to the UK).
2. When was the last time you cried?
I had a few frustrated tears over the weekend, but it's rare nowadays that I actually cry-cry.
3. Do you have kids?
I do not, unless you count the two fur-babies. No intention to.
4. What sports do you play/have you played?
I played field (read: astroturf) hockey for a few years in middle school; before that, I was a dancer (yes I count dance as a sport). Lately I'm not really a sporty type but I am getting more active.
5. Do you use sarcasm?
Moi?
6. Whatā€™s the first thing you notice about people?
Usually what comes out of their mouth, but also how they carry themselves -- do they look interested in where they are? Are they engaged with what's at hand? Do they have good posture? Are they trying to shrink into themselves? Are they oblivious to being in someone's way? Are they close to the gap?
7. Whatā€™s your eye color?
Dark brown.
8. Scary movies or happy endings?
Err...I hesitate to say neither, because while I don't like scary movies and don't *dislike* a happy ending, movies with ambiguous/bittersweet or even tragic endings are typically the ones I've enjoyed more.
9. Any talents?
Writing, I'd like to think. I'm organized and efficient. I have a deep well of empathy and understanding and feel like I'm good at helping folks wrestle with life's troubles. I'm a spice sorceress.
10. Where were you born?
Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
11. What are your hobbies?
Writing (who knew?), history (especially art and natural, and archeology), reading, word games, languages, organizing and decorating, gaming somewhat, jigsaw puzzles, travel.
12. Do you have any pets?
We have two! Molly, our sensitive and loving Shepinois (German Shepherd and Belgian Malinois mix), and Penny, our eccentric and brave gray/peach dilute calico shorthair.
13. How tall are you?
A delightfully average 5'4; as my mother used to say, at least I don't have to bend down as far if I drop something.
14. Favorite subject in school?
I actually had a love/hate relationship with English since it was the one I was most invested in, but I liked it the most because I did the best in it.
15. Dream job?
Taking this to mean more of an occupation than a *job* -- since I think if something is a job it's not especially enjoyable or rewarding -- the answer is perhaps obvious: a published fiction author. But really, I want to be occupied with my writing, tending our dream house in the woods, making my own salves and tinctures, reading, entertaining close friends with the finer things. I'd like to be occupied with love in its different forms, and for my time to be largely my own.
===
No pressure, those of you who I'm tagging! Just something to perhaps fill an idle few minutes. @ohtobealady, @in-a-storm-glass, @dahliasgloom, @malglories, @webedragons, @oftwodarkmoons, @lastoftheptolemies, @daughter-rhaenyra, @karrova, @ofallingstar, @marrogerson, @naryamirie, @aryasnow, @modernamericangirl, @saffron-mantled-dawn

Doing my due diligence and watched 1993-5 Belgian Chess! Itā€™s in dutch, but unfortunately the sound quality is not great so i could only guess at what theyā€™re saying most of the time. The translations are quite different from the 2008 Dutch version i got that far... Fortunately itā€™s a boring London copy so thereā€™s not that much going on anyway šŸ™ƒ
And yet i had thoughts, therefore it is shouting into the void time! šŸ„³
Act 1
- Starting off with... statues sitting at a chessboard? Arbiter is here. People dance around the statues like theyā€™re praying to the chess gods during Story of Chess. Real.
- This Arbiter looks so stressed and irritated already. The players havenā€™t even shown up yet u donā€™t know whatā€™s coming your way my friend
- Merano folks have shown up in full lederhosen :)
- Real smoke to show Freddieā€™s train arriving thatā€™s cool! Ohh and this Freddieā€™s going hard on the washed up rock star vibes. Not sure he looks like a Freddie to me though...
- Freddie walks out after Entrance, so Merano people start assaulting a random tourist guy instead. He looks confused. Then concerned. Then runs off-stage screaming. The Merano experience! :D
- Freddie and Florence Established Relationship but their chemistry is Off. Hmmm.
- This Freddie plays a chess computer (except. There is no computer. Only Disembodied Robot Voice and Freddie speaking his move into thin air.) and he also does push ups. Broadway influence?
- Commie Newspapers and Press Conference are both so slow...
- Wait no itā€™s speeding up for PC chorus but thatā€™s Not Better. I donā€™t get this timing it sounds very wrong
- Punching a reporter, check!
- Anatoly and Molokov look like college professors but in different ways (Anatoly is your homeless depressed comp lit guy, Molokov teaches law and delights in assigning too much homework. the AU is real to me)
- Some guy is watching Anatoly do Where I Want to Be. Is he a bodyguard? Idk...
- Anatolyā€™s chess second also looks like a college professor what is this (Perpetually Anxious Uncomfortably Freud-Loving Psychology Professor vibe for him)
- ā€œNo one can deny what kind of times these areā€ I guess they are neither difficult and dangerous nor encouraging now. They are simply. A kind of times. You canā€™t deny it. šŸ‘
- Lmao Walter and Molokov almost get in a fight at the end of Diplomats, Arbiter has to break them up
- Walter and Molokov are on Arbiter background dancer duty!!
- After doing Hymn, Arbiter calls Walter back. They both start laughing maniacally. Strange and disturbing...
- Anatoly and Freddie have both suited up for Chess
- Thereā€™s a group of background people behind them just kind of rhythmically swaying in place??
- Freddie fake flips the board it looks so silly. Donā€™t be a coward let him throw the actual board! Freddie board flipping rights!!!
- This Walter is so ready to fight everybody. Molokov, Freddie, his own camera crew. Heā€™s a hands-on kind of spy.
- Side note I like this Florence actress much better for her than Dutch Florence
- Der Kleine Franz brings back the lederhosen
- Mountain Duet on an empty stage with Anatoly sitting on a chair and Florence standing across the stage. They havenā€™t even greeted each other. The Flonatoly is truly non-existent so far
- Awkwardly standing opposite each other now as they sing...
- Heā€™s touching her and i cringe.
- This has so little going for it iā€™m sorry, worse Flonatoly development than RAH fr. Depressed professor Anatoly has no discernible personality he just Stands There. Florence actress does her best to look charmed but she has nothing to go on it is not working for me
- Freddie is SITTING ON A BENCH WATCHING THEM KISS the camera was zoomed in on Flo & Toly idk how long heā€™s been there šŸ˜¶
- He loses the match, stalks off, angrily takes off his shirt and shoes and throws them at the wall... Goes to get a robe and a bottle of booze...
- Drunk Freddie during Florence Quits high key Worries me
- Heā€™s so tense fr
- Punches a wall after she leaves
- Floor time even before PTC starts
- Oh okay there goes the robe. This is a weird time for him to be shirtless?
- Aaaaand more floor time for the Sad Man
- Florence comes back!!!!! And puts her coat over him djskskaldgsh What.
- And then we get Florence Someone Elseā€™s Story while sheā€™s sitting with him heā€™s sleeping(?) on the floor with his head on her knee and sheā€™s like. petting his head. Wahh...
- Okay i mean itā€™s sweet i guess but they just did Florence Quits so is this really the time???
- Also uncomfortable Freudian vibes tbh
- Anatoly and the Press is slow. Anthem is fast. Make up your mind people >:(
- Toly looks distressed during Anthem. He asks Flo for a hug at the end aww (i'm still not into it)
Act 2
- Hey they translated ONIB iā€™ve not seen that before actually
- ā€œweā€™ve barely recovered from those lederhosenā€ he says. me too buddy, me too
- I think this is the tamest ONIB Feddie iā€™ve come across so far. heā€™s just hanging out, the Bangkok people arenā€™t paying too much attention to him or he to them šŸ¤”
- Reporter Freddie wears a flower blouse and he has a little paper notepad. he looks like heā€™s on vacation. Real Tourist Freddie :)
- Soviet Machine aka Socially Awkward People Having a Party
- Viigand sits quietly off to the side playing chess while everyone else gets super drunk and dances around, wins the social awkwardness contest
- Lol one guy does the high ooooooo and everyone is so startled and annoyed! Molokov smacks him in the head!
- Freddie looks hyped to do Interview the hard way
- Anatoly takes a step back when he sees him he looks very nervous hehe
- Whyyyyy is this one also slow???
- Oh nope awkward speedup again
- Florence and Svetlana both wearing red in The Deal hmmmmmm
- The Freddie/Anatoly part of The Deal happens over the phone? Theyā€™re standing on opposite sides of the stage :(
- Florence/Freddie is irl but for the ā€œwhoā€™d ever guess itā€ verse they donā€™t look at each other theyā€™re standing next to each other facing the audience i donā€™t like it :c (also another weird tempo change ugh)
- IKHSW direct translation not flipped!! (thank god) however i have no idea where theyā€™re supposed to be right now
- Theyā€™re still both wearing red outfits but Florenceā€™s is a suit and Svetlanaā€™s is a dress the effect is Something. They look more alike than most Flo and Svetas itā€™s giving me Thoughts.
- They exchange a look at the end and Flo gives Sveta a little nod and then they walk off together i support this :)
- Everyone stands so far apart all the time in this production idk... and every time they get close to each other itā€™s uncomfortable... only Queens have any kind of chemistry.
- Fun fact instead of chanting the championship years in Endgame they say ā€œfirst champion... second champion... third championā€
- Freddie and Sveta are off in a corner together watching the game??
- Freddie joins the party to point an accusing finger at Anatoly but weā€™ve had Talking Chess so iā€™m not sure what his issue is right now (lyrics are sadly unclear to me)
- Immediate Flonatoly hug after he wins. this Florence just can not make up her mind
- And now sheā€™s telling him to leave
- Freddie is still here. watching them. again. O_O
- Walter tells Florence heā€™s not sure her father is alive, kisses her forehead and walks off. She should kill him.
- The End
So uh yeah okay that was a Chess. No regrets i will watch them all šŸ«” but i hope you make better choices than i did.
Tl;dr on the off chance someone was on the fence about watching this (nah) please let me assure you that You Donā€™t Need To Do That! You will gain nothing and lose 2+ hours of your life :) Maaaaybe watch Florence Quits, Pity the Child and Someone Elseā€™s Story if youā€™re a huge Florence/Freddie fan and have nothing better to do!

As the winter season approaches, it is crucial to prepare your trees to withstand the potential challenges posed by snowfall and storms. A proper tree service company can help minimize damage and ensure the health and longevity of your trees. Here are some essential tips to consider:
Pruning: Before winter arrives, inspect your trees for any dead, weak, or diseased branches. Prune them to promote tree strength and prevent potential hazards during heavy snow or strong winds. Proper pruning allows for better air circulation, reducing the risk of snow accumulation on branches.
Mulching: Apply a layer of mulch around the base of your trees to provide insulation and protect the roots from extreme temperatures. Mulch also helps retain moisture, which is essential during dry winter periods. However, be cautious not to pile mulch directly against the trunk, as it can create a favorable environment for pests and diseases.
Watering: Adequate hydration is vital for tree health, even during winter. Before the ground freezes, ensure that your trees receive sufficient water. Deep watering helps roots stay hydrated and better withstand the cold. However, avoid excessive watering, as it can lead to waterlogging, which is detrimental to tree roots.
Structural Support: If you have young or weak trees, consider providing additional support to prevent them from bending or breaking under heavy snow loads. Install temporary stakes or braces to reinforce the tree's structure. Be careful not to overtighten the support, as it may hinder natural movement.
Snow Removal: During and after snowfall, gently remove accumulated snow from tree branches using a soft broom or your hands. This prevents the weight of the snow from causing branches to snap or bend. Start from the bottom and work your way up, being cautious not to shake or jar the branches excessively.
Professional Inspection: If you have large or complex trees on your property, it is advisable to seek professional arborist services. They can assess the health and structural integrity of your trees, identify potential risks, and provide expert advice on winter tree care.
By following these essential tips, you can ensure that our tree service Belgium, WI is well-prepared to withstand the winter weather conditions. Taking proactive measures will not only protect your trees but also enhance the safety and beauty of your landscape.

Best of New Colossus 2024
I'm currently recovering from a busy New Colossus Festival and a few folk have asked for rundown of my faves, so here you go.
First of all, this years fest was my absolute favorite and it was great to see so many packed venues appreciating the music. I've been every year to this festival, I love it and long may it continue.
If you don't know what it's all about it's similar to SXSW, or Iceland Airwaves, or a personal favorite of mine back home - The Great Escape in Brighton. Tons of small venues showcasing new and upcoming bands. New Colossus leans towards indie, rock and shoegaze, but there's a smattering of other genres too all in the best small venues in the Lower East Side, NYC.
Here's what I enjoyed the most:
Cucamaras
Possibly the festival highlight for me. Nottingham band taking influences from early Arctic Monkeys, Fontaines DC, Yard Act. As with a lot of these new bands their Spotify list doesn't really do them justice, you have to see them live.

NOBRO
Definitely the most fun set of the week. 4 piece canadian all female punk band, with sing-a-long choruses, crowd surfing and smiles galore. My fave chant: EAT! SLAY! CHARDONNAY!
youtube
Reme
Half spanish, half english classic rock, super talented musicians. Sleeves proudly adorned by all their influences, Beatles, Bowie, Queen, Elton John all come through, another fantastic live band.
youtube
Scrounge
Two piece, reverse White Stripes formation. Killer riffs and angry vocals. This is an instant classic. Formidable live.
youtube
Langkamer
Bristol lads with a drummer / singer. Sound like Pavement, Belle & Sebastian and Teenage Fanclub. Full of catchy melodies and fun lyrics.
youtube
O.Wake
I broke my no local band rule for O.Wake, as they play regularly in NYC along with my other local faves Mary Shelley and TVOD. But Im glad I did. They're a little hard to pigeonhole, the new single is quite funky phoenix style indie, great lyrics and songs that veer in all sorts of directions but usually with a great hook.
youtube
Slash Need
Certainly won't be a lot of peoples cup of tea, but if they're on a festival you're at this year - GO SEE THEM. Musically they're dark electronica, I would imagine Peaches is a big influence and if you know the belgian dance band GOOSE similar sounding to them. Visually, it's a feast, lead by a fierce lead singer, heavy beats and two gimp-like dancers that get uncomfortably close.
youtube
Hotel Mira
Probably the most primed for a main stream audience out of all this list. Radio friendly indie-pop with a very enigmatic lead singer but you can't deny they got tunes and they're good fun live.
youtube
Minas
The most intense set of the week. Difficult to categorize again, nearest I can think of is The Prodigy. Welsh rap / industrial noise / metal?? I honestly don't know, but they put on a helluva show. Two of the best heckles came out of this set, 1. "MORE YELLING PLEASE" after a particularly shouty track and 2. "Are YOU OK?" a response to the singer asking us if we're OK after a track which had him pounding the floor and screaming. Terrifying, but super interesting.
youtube
Holiday Ghosts
Perhaps the polar opposite to Minas, bright sunny indie, chock full of tunes from Brighton / Falmouth. Hints of a milder Sleater Kinney.
youtube
I've done a spotify playlist with these and a few more artists I liked the sound of but didn't get round to watching so check it out .
While I have you my general 2024 new music playlist is taking shape, so give that a follow too and I'll continue to add to it.

Spring and summer, along with warmer weather are just around the corner. And you know what that means? Festival announcements, followed by festival season. Presented by Bell and Coors Light, OSHEAGA Music and Arts Festivalā€˜s 17th edition will take place August 2, 2024 ā€“ August 4, 2024 in MontrĆ©alā€˜s gorgeous Parc Jean-Dreapeau. Over the course of 16 previous editions, OSHEAGA has become a global reference for great music and top-notch festival experiences: Attendees come to the MontrĆ©al and the festival to experience something that they simply canā€™t find anywhere else. Located on two islands, one which is man-made, just off the shore of MontrĆ©al Island and Vieux MontrĆ©al, Parc Jean-Drapeau was the site of the Expo 1967. The park has one of the most stunning views of MontrĆ©alā€™s skyline and Mont Royal, and while in the park, youā€™re able to catch a wide variety of artists, both emerging and established across an array of genres. Festival organizers and books have curated this yearā€™s festival with the explicit mission of appealing to fans of every genre, style and generation. Grammy nominated, rinsing folk pop artist Noah Kahan will be headlining the festivalā€™s first day, August 2, playing what will be a rare festival set this summer. Fans of singer/songwriter pop can also catch Hozier, who played a sold-out show at Lavalā€™s Place Bell last year; Teddy Swims, the genre-bending artist, who has dominated Tik Tok; Melanie Martinez, the alt-pop phenom, who has amassed over 12 billion streams and more; and singer/songwriter and actor ReneĆ© Rapp, who starred in the Broadway production of Mean Girls ā€” and played a much-talked about, sold-out show at MTELLUS last October. If you dig punk and alt rock ā€” and you were a child of the 90s or came of age in the 90s, OSHEAGA has got something for you: 90s punk icons Green Day will be headlining the festivalā€™s second day, August 3. Fully expect to hear tunes from Dookie, American Idiot and more. But personally, Iā€™d love to hear songs off Warning. Beloved old-school punks Rancid, rising Los Angeles rockers The Linda Lindas, riot grrrl legends Sleater-Kinney and The Smashing Pumpkins are the dayā€™s biggest names. The Smashing Pumpkins return to the OSHEAGA stage for the first time in 17 years. SZA, the biggest name in pop at the moment will be headlining the festivalā€™s third and final day. And if you dig genre-bending pop anthems. T-Pain will be making his OSHEAGA debut. The festivalā€™s bill features a wide variety of Afrobeats and Afropop including Grammy Award winner Tyla, who won the first ever Best African Music Performance Award for her global smash hit ā€œWater;ā€ Nigerian artist Ayra Starr; Haitian artist MichaeĆ«l Brun, who played a sold-out Festival International de Jazz MontrĆ©al show last year. If youā€™re a hip-hop head who digs both chart-topping and underground emcees from across the globe, OSHEAGA will have something for you: This yearā€™s lineup will feature Denzel Curry; Bronx emcee Lil Jay, who played Place Bell back in 2022; Swedish, experimental beat-driven sensation Bladee; British emcee Skepta, who has made a name for himself for pairing UK grime-driven bars with Afrobeat influences; Belgian emcee Hamza, who spits bars in a silky French; and Moroccan emcee ElGrandeToto. If you dig electronic dance music, OSHEAGA will have something for you: Wildly popular Dutch DJ and producer Martin Garrix, who headlined last yearā€™s Ć®LESONIQ Festival will be playing; acclaimed French electronic duo Justice will be playing OSHEAGA to support their first album of original material in seven years; British electronic music artist and producer Labrinth, best known for the music in acclaimed series Euphoria will be making a rate live appearance this year, too. Additionally, thereā€™ll be live performances from Overmono, IrĆ©ne DrĆ©sel, Confidence Man, The xxā€˜s Romy and DJ sets from Uncle Waffles and Mochakk. This yearā€™s edition will also proudly showcase homegrown acts. Roughly a third of the 2024 lineup features artists from QuĆ©bec and C...

Aksak Maboul: Before And After Bandits (Documents 1977-1980, 2015)
ā€œFormed in 1977 by Marc Hollander and Vincent Kenis, the Belgian avant-rock band, Aksak Maboul, excelled at the playful construction of ersatz yet exciting musical forms and counterfeit cross-cultural soundtracks that seem ever more radical and innovative with the passing of time. Their first recording, Onze Danses Pour Combattre la Migraine (ā€˜Eleven Dances for Fighting Migrainesā€™), fused early electronica, classical chamber orchestral, improvised jazz, Balkan folk, traditional Turkish music and Satie-esque miniatures with a light and humorous touch that transcended its hybrid nature to anticipate future musical forms, such as its proto-techno opener ā€˜Saure Gurke.ā€™ ...ā€

Why Are Latina Girls So Good Looking?
Why Are Latina Girls So Good Looking?
There are roughly over 5.four million U.S. The highest childbearing come from the poor Hispanic girls who are non-citizens, non-English audio system and low in schooling. Hence, many poor infants arrive and develop up inappropriately in old and new locations where Hispanics are concentrated. Immigrating to the united states is a method to search for a greater life.
Tumblr media
Travel has allowed me to understand my culture and my own identification. Sheā€™s both high of her class in her career, or a keep at residence mom focusing only on her family. To be ā€œcoquetaā€ signifies that she is most likely going playful, type, and like-able. There is the tiniest sense of cockiness implied with this behavior, however it's undoubtedly confidence, not pondering she is best than anyone else.
If you canā€™t speak any Spanish, youā€™ll immediately come off as uncultured and unwilling to expand your language skills on your Latina partner. Eating spicy meals is a rite of passage so donā€™t cry or hyperventilate during your meal with your Latina or her family. You shall be carefully monitored to see if you cross the ā€œGringoā€ test.

This is very true when they're upset. No matter what race, gender, or ethnicity, everyone has their very own unique qualities. This article was written from my private experiences with my Latina spouse and every step has personally labored for me.
Unfortunately, in this day and age this fashion of approaching relationships appears to be so very hard to search out. Tell me i'm mistaken and that i heavenā€™t seen anything nice that you simply wrote. Hello I just began ā€œdatingā€ a Latina who lives in Colombia. We havenā€™t truly met but however have Skyped and textual content a lot.
Travel Blogs
And with great reward come nice duty, so Iā€™m going to share with you how one can appeal to a Latina woman with out even trying. Next purpose why you need to date a Latina is because Latin music may be very diverse. It varies from the lively rhythms of Central America and the Caribbean to the more austere sounds of southern South America. However, Latin music is likely one of the catchiest to dance with. Dancing to Latin music with your Latina girlfriend would be the fanciest date. Latinas like to embrace their pure magnificence.
Passion and hard work have triggered Latinas to start engaged on their own lanes. This shows how Latinas have some sort of nice vanity and consciousness of reaching a better life. When it comes to a relationship, Latinas will make a fantastic lover. Instead of all the time relying on their companions, Latinas prefer to stay true of what they're capable of. As long as they can do it, they may try not to bother their significant different.
Tumblr media
Nobody wants your ā€œwokeā€ accusations of racism. Although my spouse is submissive, her latina temper terrifies me. Hahahaha I wouldnā€™t say that every one stereotypes are true, but there's some reality in a few of them. Sheā€™s used to being taken care of, and sheā€™s used to taking excellent care of folks.
Journey Assets
I had a GF from Spain after I lived in Belgium. She made enjoyable of how I spoke Spanish and the Belgians and French made enjoyable of my Cajun French (mother from LaFayette, Louisianaā€“she taught it to me). Good affirmation to what I just about already know. I consider your evaluation of Latin girls may be applied to women of all cultures. I am of West Indian lineage, and have found these attributes are present in women Who I really have dated of many alternative cultures.
Would love to find a beautiful Mexican woman who would get pleasure from being a life companion and desires higher. Someone who just canā€™t have better regardless of how exhausting she tryā€™s. Strong ā€“ Latinas are strong and we are not referring to this in a bodily means. Many Latina ladies face adversities of their daily and total lives, which leads them to be sturdy in a way that may be tough to precise in words. It is the state of mind and consciousness of being a luchadora ā€“ knowing that they are prepared and not afraid of what they might face to ensure their pursuit of happiness. Latinas have such a broad variety of delicious cuisine.
In your personal opinion do you assume she only needed me for papers? Because now when i wished to visit her in mexico she minimize off all contact with me, a week ago, and i attempted calling her and writing however i get no response. Even with the issues I am or Iā€™m notā€¦ I know these stereotypes to be true. I thought her article was even handed and honest. It pointed out cultural variations which may be completely true but in addition mentioned there are exceptions.
Tumblr media
You will wonder of what they turn out to know. Anyway, you don't have to fret when you may have problems that want latin word used in dating a treatment. Your Latina companion will find a means to make things better.
Hopefully, they will construct a stronger bond with their companion. Your response to that remark seems to ignore the fact that not all latinx are Spanish talking. Why do Hispanics like to ignore the existence of non-Spanish talking latinas?
Iā€™ve had complete rooms of people guessing my racial roots as a recreation multiple times. It truly turns into frequent practice for Latina women to come back together looking for group love and support. Itā€™s also a tendency to not tell the older ladies within the family an issue to keep away from scaring them into bad well being. Culturally, we are much less more doubtless to be casually promiscuous, so the probabilities of cheating are statistically lower.
Iā€™m a gringo fortunately married to a Latina for over 20 years. I lived in Australia, and I was always the one Latina! Itā€™s nice to cross cultures and I wish you all one of the best. My spouse may not have a degree but she is a toddler care expert and is doing what she can to become extra concerned in training just to be with our son. A conventional latina is very loyal to her man and takes marital vows very critical.
Hispanic or Latino tradition consists of the traditions. Thus, courting a Latino will information you to study additionally about their religious beliefs and practices, language, idioms, and legends. Indeed, these fields corresponding to literature, arts, music, delicacies, history, social and household values of the Hispanic folks also one of the best a half of a Lania. Latinas are lucky cause Latino tradition is wealthy in holidays and traditions. Some are more traditional than others, but all of them assist keep their culture alive.

Not me liveblogging the belgian national final (a few days too late even) but not esc 2021 or 2022 *clown noises* šŸ¤”
Not a great start when one of the candidates sings Euphoria a bit off key šŸ˜¬ (im so sorry Ameerah love u)
FUCK YES RYTHYM INSIDE
Loredana and ChƩrine slaying those vocals
This medley SLAPS šŸ”„šŸ”„
The Nicole tribute was very heartwarming, love that they did that
"The act needs to be fresh and fruity" Sandra Kim said it needs to be gay, write that down
Hunter looks so adorable and happy to be there šŸ’–
Pretty sure Laura Tesoro did the same penguin dance move in 2016 lmao, loved it then loved it now
Fuck the haters, Ooh la la is a bop šŸ˜¤
Shame they didnt give him more dancers for such a funky song.
The audience going crazy for ChĆ©rine during her interview, as they should šŸ˜Œ
Naur ChĆ©rine, twas a bit off key near the end there šŸ˜¬
The song is so so good and catchy but the act is a bit eehh. Certainly memorable though
Scorching hot take alert, but rollercoaster is so generic its painful
And it genuinly feels bad to say that cause it means so much to the singers
The staging was very on point tho
Love Ameerah's vibes, very mom friend who cares about all her lil kids
VRT: "How Eurovision do you want the costumes to be?"
Ameerah: "yes. "
There is so much energy and playfulness in this act, I love it!!
These dancers are giving a 110% props all around
Love that thid guy thing is wearing a silly big round hat and that he was like "I'm going to wear an even bigger one"
Frankly I want him to wear an even bigger one at the actual contest
The singing by Gustaph and his background ladies is superb
I'd add some dancers tho
Pretty sure this would't have been my pick but it's the least repetitive of the more pop-y songs so I think I get why this won
Omg Gala is wearing the fugly Santana fur hat šŸ’€šŸ’€
Everything about this girl screams Artist(tm) but in the best way
This act and song is so intense and full of emotion, I didn't write any notes during it. Wow.
*Insert Lady Gaga meme here*
Please don't remind me that we didn't send 'She's after my piano' in 2014, I'll start biting
Loredana's outfit is giving me Chanel Slomo vibes šŸ‘Œ
The rorbot is so random I'm cackling lmao
I'm so sad the song is so weak cause I love Loredana's voice šŸ˜”
Lmao Nikki said the robot should have lifter her up, so true queen šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚
Never gonna forget the moment when Duncan sang his song in a concert full of Dutch people, this song is like crack to them
Gala and her cute frog knit hat Froche, my beloved
Fairytale is never gonna get old
These dancers are giving it their all, go off you possesed lil folk dancers šŸ’ƒšŸ•ŗšŸ’ƒšŸ•ŗ
I think my ranking'd be
1. Gala
2. Ameerah
3. Gustaph
4. ChƩrine
5. Hunter Falls
6. The Starlings
7. Loredana
Aight, voting time, time to get mad at the results like always šŸ˜Œ
Oh no, I'm agreeing with the jury votes...welp time to tyrade against the uncultured masses šŸ˜¤
I like Gustaph enough to believe we have a shot of getting through to the finale, I wish all the luck to my fav hat of the night šŸ’–
Also genuinely impressed by the show we put on, highkey regretting not going to it but oh well. I enjoyed it so much more than I thought I was gonna šŸ‡§šŸ‡Ŗ
Anyway, shifting out of eurovision mode šŸ˜” see you in may (if I'm liveblogging the actual thing lmao we'll see)

DID YOU KNOW TINTIN WAS FRENCH. THIS IS NEW INFO FOR ME

Today's mix:
Fuse Presents HellĀ by Hell 2000 House / Techno / Deep House / Electro / New Wave
Goddamn, man, I'm not gonna say outright that this mix in particular is the greatest shit in the worldā€”although it's pretty close!ā€”but the ethos behind it certainly represents what has ultimately led to some of the most astonishing sets that we've ever had the pleasure of witnessing as a species. There's this late 70s-and-80s-rooted spirit that's equal parts unpredictable and eclectic, in which the overall route of the set doesn't feel pre-planned at all, because the DJ takes risks by linking tracks together that you yourself wouldĀ neverĀ expect to hear in succession. The overall journey from point A to point B that you get taken on is one that's long and winding and full of surprises, and the DJ themselves doesn't really have any particular destination in mind to begin with either, because the perpetual question that's always most immediately on their mind is, "hmm, what banger do I want to play next?Ā šŸ¤”"
And I feel like this flying-by-the-seat-of-its-pants approach to DJing has largely faded from the limelight and has gradually been replaced by either the DJ who specializes in one specific dance subgenre that's in one specific range of BPMs for a whole set, or the DJ who just plays mindless EDM claptrap from a pre-loaded USB stick šŸ˜’. All of it's so safe and hermetically sealed shut. Where's the danger, the fun, and variety of it all?
See, what you really have to understand here is that there was no place on the planet that was more sonically diverse than your typical late 70s and 80s dancefloor. House, freestyle, synthpop, disco, hi-NRG, pop, post-disco, art punk, art rock, art pop, electro, hip hop, funk, boogie, post-punk, new wave, dance-pop, dancehall, two-tone ska, glam rock, sophisti-pop, soul, alternative dance, R&B, etc., etc., etc., all had the potential to be played at any given moment during a set, and the ultimate job of the DJ was to craft a breathtaking sonic collage out ofĀ anyĀ of it.
And that's exactly what Germany's DJ Hell channeled here with this commercial mix from 2000 for the second ever installment in Belgian club Fuse's own series. But what's more is that while Hell was deriving his inspiration from an attitude of a bygone era, he also happened to have about an extra decade of music at his disposal that his spiritual predecessors didn't. And the 90s ended up seeing a mega-expansion on the frontiers of electronic and dance music entirely, so while Hell certainly picks out his classics from super popular acts like Donna Summer and Frankie Goes to Hollywood, on here you're also gonna find stuff from contemporary dance legends like Todd Terry and Carl Craig, different flavors of rock from Tuxedomoon, Sparks, and the Flying Lizards, Brazilian-sampled techno from Andrew McLauchlan, and deep house from Bougie Soliterre. In reality, almost none of this track list makes any lick of sense on paper, but that's the inherent beauty of the whole thing, folks! Once you put it on and get a taste of Orange Lemon's (Todd Terry's) "Extended Club Mix" of "The Texican," you really start to get a feel for the vision that's been laid out here, and it's one that's mindbendingly motley, and more in the vein of how a lot of old DJ sets used to be!
The best DJs to me are the ones who appear to be doing it purely off the dome and are just living right in the moment while barely thinking ahead. They know how to wow a crowd with a memorable blend of classics, a contemporary hit, and obscurities from any decade, place, or genre, but they make adjustments if and when they feel the need to as well. And above all else, they possess an uncanny ability to play songs that you don't see comingā€”or that you never even knew existed in the first placeā€”while also convincing you that the choice they made is one that's both thrilling and logically sound. It's a tough act to balance, like a halftime gimmick who rides a unicycle and spins plates on a long rod that sits on their chin while also juggling bowling pins, but DJ Hell is someone who clearly has the knack for it and puts it on full display here.
The world could always use more of this kind of DJing in it, especially when so many of us now have access to more music than we know what to do with that's all sitting right at our fingertips.
And by the way, I didn't really get into specific tracks with this post here, but "Desire," by 69, which is just aĀ niceĀ alias that was used by Carl Craig, is one of the most stunning combinations of string synth and drum break that I think I've ever heard in my life. Good lord, what a tune that is! šŸ¤Æ
Listen to the full mix here.
Highlights:
Speedy J - "Evolution" ChĆ© - "The Incident (Wet Dream Mix)" Orange Lemon - "The Texican (Extended Club Mix)" Liaisons Dangereuses - "Avant-AprĆØs Mars" Tuxedomoon - "What Use" 69 - "Desire" Mitsu - "Shylight" Donna Summer - "I Feel Love (Patrick Cowley Megamix)" Sparks - "Beat the Clock" Phuture - "Rise From Your Grave (Wake Side)" Foremost Poets - "Pressin On" Bougie Soliterre - "Superficial (Main Vocal Mix)" G Strings - "The Land of Dreams" Frankie Goes to Hollywood - "Two Tribes (Annihilator Mix)" Dopplereffekt - "Rocket Scientist" Andrew Mc Laughlan - "Love Story" Filippo "Naughty" Moscatello - "Disco Volante" The Flying Lizards - "Steam Away"

Tagged by @nothinggold13 and @awfullybigwardrobe44!
are you a morning person?Ā  This is highly context-dependent, I think. Punctuality is important to me, so Iā€™m often up earlier than family members or friends if we have places to be. On vacations Iā€™m all for getting up at 5am to watch the sunrise or read alone on the porch. However, during the normal day-to-day grind, I tend to sleep in as much as possible.
ideal breakfast?Ā  Homemade waffles (soft waffles, NOT Belgian) with real maple syrup, sausage patties, chocolate milk, strawberries. Ā Ā
favorite warm drink, and how do you take it? Iā€™m all about the seasonal beverages. Hot apple cider with spices in the fall, stovetop hot cocoa in the winter.
sit in the sunshine or the shade?Ā  In the shade. I donā€™t like to feel like Iā€™m being baked alive.
favorite baked good? Mmm, so many options! Ultimately, though, there are these butterscotch brownies with this dense fudge frosting that my mom makes and brought to like a million church events when I was little. Delicious, rich, chocolatey, and tastes like home.
a song or album that makes you feel at peace?Ā  I do so little album listening these days, Iā€™m going to cheat and list a handful of songs: Tchaikovskyā€™s ā€œHymn of the Cherubim,ā€ ā€œOn the Street Where You Liveā€ from My Fair Lady, ā€œGold (A Capella)ā€ from Once, ā€œMoon Riverā€ by Audrey Hepburn, ā€œTundraā€ by Ola Gjeilo, and any decent version of ā€œGreat is Thy Faithfulness.ā€
take a walk with your friends or read a book next to a friend on the sofa? Walk with a friend. As a rule, reading is better curled up alone and walks are better with company :)
what tasks do you gravitate to when making a meal with others?Ā  It varies. A lot of times I end up stirring or sautĆ©ing things on the stove.
a chore that if someone completed it for you youā€™d love them forever?Ā Cleaning the bathroom. I have a sensitivity to bleach, plus itā€™s just gross. Ā
favorite board/card game to play with friends?Ā  Telestrations! Puno (power-Uno, which Iā€™ve also heard called Spicy Uno) and Exploding Kittens are up there too.
what kind of snacks/candy do you want at a movie theater? I really like those little cookie dough bites!Ā
bar with live music or bar with a pool table?Ā  Iā€™ve hung out at bars exactly twice, once for a trivia night and once for a colleagueā€™s birthday (everyone else got margaritas and I got a lava cake! I was past drinking age, I just wanted lava cake). That said, music and dancing sounds like fun :)
go-to wine/cider/beer/cocktail?Ā Ā Iā€™m slowly trying to cultivate a palate for wine at social gatherings, but so far unsuccessful. I do enjoy a little Godiva chocolate liqueur in my hot cocoa sometimes, though!
go-to bar food?Ā  Chili-cheese fries, as long as the cheese is shredded and not that gross liquid stuff. Otherwise, just chili fries.
are you tending the fire, looking at the stars, or singing campfire/folk songs?Ā  All of the above? Iā€™m not really sure how to answer this one. I adore all of those things. Actually, one of my hallmarks among both family and friends is that I can roast the perfect marshmallow!
a favorite Scripture verse or prayer?Ā  ā€œThe LORD is my chosen portion and my cup; you hold my lot. The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places. Truly, I have a beautiful inheritance.ā€ From Psalm 16.
are you the person begging to go to just one more bar/sing one more song, the person staying up late talking about love and the universe, or the person who fell asleep hours before anyone else? With family and really close friends, stay up late talking all the way! With people I know less well, Iā€™m usually one of the first asleep. Iā€™m trying to break myself of that habit, though!
No pressure tags: @laurelin-of-valinor @holbytlanna @raspberryzingaaa @accidental-spice @saxifrage-wreath @citrussunrises and anyone else who's interested or that I missed!
