I wanted to ask what's your opinion on some popular psychonauts HCs? Are there any you'd like to talk about or some of your own you'd like to share?

Hmm popular Psychonauts HCs...

Okay so I know that a lot of the cast are headcanoned as queer and I'm totally fine with that. I really enjoy the different headcanons around that and seeing what kinds of interactions come from that. Even ones I don't believe in, like Genderfluid!Dion (I get more toxic masculinity vibes from him, Augustus, and Raz) and Transmasc!Lili. I've seen a few that I promptly disagree with, but I usually ignore the people who try to focus on that headcanon.

I'm a fan of the post that my mutual @sweetstwawbewwymilk created, which is Archetypes = what you need, Raz's Archetype = friend. Which I like to see people use that when making swap AU archetypes (Callisto and Raccoon!Lili my beloveds).

I love the idea of the adult friendships between Augustus, Dona, Truman, Milla, Sasha, and Hollis. They're like a clan of parents.

I really like the headcanons of Lili's links to her family being used in the past, particularly by Kitty and Franke cause they're older and Kitty is canonically manipulative. Mainly because not only does that flesh out the interaction she and Raz have at the lodge, but some campster interactions show other friendships...

Or the bittersweetness of "we still think of the good times with you, even if we used you."

Context- this is the kid that hacked into Lili's profile and took pictures of her without permission. At the very least, Franke still cares about Lili and I CHERISH that information.

I see the headcanons about the counselor stuff being thankless and a lot of the art that's about like... the irritation with the campers. But I think Raz actually SIGNS UP to be a counselor regularly. Like, I think Coach Oleander is a permanent counselor (so he keeps the Coach title instead of being called Morceau), but I think when Coach is all tired from that, Raz steps up as the next perma-counselor. Raz also teaches "Mental Gymnastics" in his mind, and encourages kids to use all the tricks in their arsenal to get around certain areas. His mind does change a bit because of this, having a little training area that combines circus stuff as well as things like roof-top running missions in Raz's memory to be an obstacle course for the other kids to run through.

I like to think Lili's mom is actually very similar to Raz. I think that while Truman took to being the Grand Head a few years after Otto, Lili's mom was ready to go on these fantastic world traveling adventures and fight people. I think she's the one who has the ability of pyrokinesis as her specialty, and she was all for Truman bringing psychics to fight bad guys.

I think Psychonauts takes place in the "futuristic" 2000s. You know, like those vibes that Back to the Future 2 gives with traveling forwards in time to 2012 that also has a lot of the similar culture of the time it was written. Some time where science stuff took advantage of how fast psychics could work and thus got further than today's world while still having things like: "have you heard of the new GameBoy Advanced? So cool."

I think that psychics actually get stronger the further down the line they come from. So Augustus is pretty strong (able to astral project without a Psi-portal, bash his psychic abilities against Raz's defenses, and psi-blast) and has a few abilities he can't really learn (tries to learn pyrokinesis, but I think he has that mental block + affinity for water). This is also true for Truman and Lili.

All of the Zanotto family have an affinity for music. Bob had a recital that he needed to go to during a time his mother was in the garden... the Zanotto family music box... Helmut married into the family (Fullbear-Zanotto is his legal last name)... I think that Truman and Lili enjoy singing to their plants. Also I love the idea that Lili can sing both death metal (cause plants apparently grow best around death metal) and opera (slightly taught from Helmut's knowledge of singing, cause there's no way that PsychOdessey isn't an opera in my mind).

This is a crack headcanon that I don't really believe, but I want to write: Lili has a synesthesia where she can taste emotions. Love tastes like citrus soda. Sadness tastes like sashimi. Irritation tastes like spicy chicken nuggets.

Sasha is, to the best of my understanding and memory, a woodland spirit I met in 4th grade in the woods behind Horizons School. The oddities and tricky bits for identifying this person as anything other than a woodland spirit:

I was friends near that time with someone named Asha. There’s a picture of Asha in my yearbook and it’s not the same person. Sasha was lanky and long-haired, more similar in build to my godbrother Eli.

Sasha was not in the school yearbook. However, multiple teachers treated Sasha as a student.

Sasha smelled. It wasn’t an unpleasant smell but it was sometimes overbearing, a weird mix of earthy and sickly-sweet.

I only have memories of Sasha from the woods and a tiny bit in the elementary building when they helped me with writing the Dr. Colors series - though they may never have come in and I might be remembering a conversation where I talked with them about it after having written the thing on my own indoors. I do feel like I remember them standing over me while I sat there expanding the Doctor Red Lore, but it’s been decades.

I find it unfathomable that they could be the same Sasha I’m friends with now - mostly because I remember them being taller than I was in 4th grade.

I’m sure I identified them as male at the time but can only identify them as genderfluid now as I look back on it. Their voice and manner of speech I identify as very feminine.

Almost all of the play, if they initiated rather than just looking in on what I was already doing (such as their interest in the maniacal Doctor Red), involved something that drew me away from the other children and farther into the woods. If I’m being cynical/rational, to me, coupling this with how much taller Sasha was than me (a minimum of six inches, maybe a foot but everyone even a little taller than me was huge; I was in 4th grade) would indicate what I’m remembering is a homeless person sneaking onto the grounds. But again, they were seen by teachers, and the teachers treated them as a student.

I’m able to pinpoint the year at 4th grade because I was in the elementary building and there was no play structure. From pre-K to 2 the elementary building didn’t exist at all yet and I was in room 1, and grade 3 it was still under construction and I was in room 3 (still in the main building). And in 5th and 6th grades I was in other schools, miserable years at Forrest Hills and Atherton. When I came back in 7th grade there was a play structure.

Now for IBYBF in particular, I don’t know. Their sexuality headcanons still apply but I’m not sure what to do about genders. It really never crossed my mind to do anything Gender related with the trio especially since I was still grappling with my own gender identity when I started off with PMIT and I most certainly was not Out to anyone at that point, which means the series started and has continued with everyone being cis. HOWEVER,,,, you can tell my Gender influence has started bleeding in with the Gems having blue hair and pronouns. Heart being they/them, Wit being she/her, and Strength being it/its. This was largely because I started off using it/its on all of them but then I was like ‘no no, give them some flavor✨’ so here we are now. A large part of this decision also has to do with the emphasis I’m placing on the Gems being People, which, going forward, you’re going to see a lot more of. (One of the major threads of fic 3 is going to revolve around the dynamics between the gems and their previous vessels and how it’s impacted who they are now.)

Will I touch Gender territory with the calamity trio in the future? I don’t know. I talked about the question in a reply to a comment on the fic proper too but basically most of what holds me back is the fear that I might portray something inaccurately at best or straight up offensive at worst. I know very little about the experience of mtfs because I’m afab and while I am Genderfluid, I’ve come to understand my experience is hardly universal and Gender is experienced very differently by different people. I could write it In Theory, I’m just terrified of doing so sndjeksksk. It’s in a similar vein to my fear of how I’m portraying polyam relationships too—which I went on that terribly disjointed rant about in my last post. Its a topic that gives me Anxiety and I don’t know if I wanna tackle another when I’m already freaking out about writing poly relationships even tho I AM POLY. We’ll see how I feel in the future tho—after all, I was worried I’d be too uncomfortable portraying Anne’s self-destruction arc too and yet i did it anyway.

a rough upstart from the streets of Los Angeles. he spent nearly six years bouncing from city to city, and did a very large stint running drugs for a prominent crime organization. with hands that have been broken more than a few times and a serious case of ADHD, paired with a short temper and a habit of fighting dirty, he’s a firecracker out on the field.

                                              Joshua - Sharpshooter

born in Roturoa, but more often found in the wilds away from other people. if it moves, he’s been paid to hunt it before. perpetually tired and with a bad eye from an old shooting injury, it can sometimes be surprising that he’s so fierce out on the field. especially when it comes to people bothering what’s his.

                                                   Feliciano - Rouge

served in the Iradium War just outside of Rome, briefly, and made a living as a bodyguard for a while. he’s used to being neither seen or heard as a result, and it’s led to a very slow process in finding a place for himself on the team. that being said, he’s got a fondness for making poorly timed jokes on the field, directly before stabbing an opponent in the neck.

                                                     Lukas - Techie

a former teacher at the SPFOT, where he created the original prototype for prosthetic limbs fueled by iradium. knows more about the strange element than anyone else, and found himself working for the GSC after being framed for the murder of a former colleague. you’ll often find him building devices that will stop him from having to get involved with hand in hand combat.

                                                     Deiter - Doctor 

after losing everything that he owned during WW2, Deiter found himself working as a black market doctor, trading treatment for food and places to stay. extremely fond of the team that he has now, and very invested in making sure that they consistently come back in one piece - despite the occasional code disruptions that occur.

from a small town to the fields of the Iradium War, he’s been fighting from the moment he had the chance. close contact with constant iradum boom’s have left him with some pretty bad hearing loss, and a strong dislike for explosives work. excels in planning and finding the strong points in his comrades.

                                                     Jane - Guard

a former soldier in WW2, who came away from the fight with some hearing issues. very loud and a little too blunt for most people’s likings. has eagle wings, but one of them’s broken and held in place with a handmade strap. takes great pride in his job. very good at sewing, and gets a kick out of Scout’s jokes even if he won’t admit it.

                                                    Corentin - Thief

 he was drafted into the Korean War, where he served a grueling eight months before being attacked by military trained dog-horses and sent home. a chronic insomniac who never settled back into civilian life, and has an abysmally childish sense of humor. usually tasked with cooking meals on his team. lovebird wings.

                                                    Ollie - Arsonist

a firebug from Daytona who was picked up by Seamus, and not Adele. really wants to do his job well and not fuck things up, but has a case of chronic bad luck. paired up with Scout, they become the gruesome twosome, and cause prank-Hell for the rest of the team. collects lighters. sparrow wings.

                                                    Seamus - Gunner

an alcoholic with a penchant for creating updated guns, and a fondness for loud music. he/s a great cook but never bothers with it. got caught in a car bomb when he was younger, and has pretty bad back issues now. Ollie’s proving to be good for him. great skua wings. (subclass - Builder)

                                                    Sasha - Healer

a doctor with a love for guns, and a history with a cult in Siberia. she’s an optimistic person, though large crowds make her a little nervous. has more common sense than the ret of her team mates put together, drinks vodka in her tea, and has vulture wings. heavily linked to a hypothetical angel of death. (subclass - gun enthusiast)

local loudmouth of North team. you cannot pay this boy to be quiet, and he’s both stupid as a bag of bricks and also incredibly intelligent. from New York, where he had a lovely stint robbing the Italian mafia blind with his husband, Rizzo, until they were both shot up and picked up by Adele. part of a modern day bonnie and clyde.

                                                    Rizzo - Demolitions Expert

pretty adorable if you can get past the fact that he’s incredibly crass and has no filter between mind and mouth. Hopelessly in love with his husband, even if no one else realizes they’re married. he will burn water if you let him cook, so maybe best if you don’t.

                                                    Loto - Archer

from the Louisiana bayous, and great with a cross bow. has an old coonhound-horse that sleeps in bed with him, but who Loto claims to hate. often forgets that he needs to actually go to the kitchen and get food, and that the food he needs is easily available.

the longest running member of any of the active teams. has a prosthetic arm. really fond of sweet tea, and has more idea of what’s going on than he’s willing to let on. bound up in so many contracts, it’s literally woven into his Intent.

left an abusive home at fourteen and has been on the streets since. took a contract with GSC to get Elias medical treatment. dyslexic, and often described by his team as “being a lot”. a baseball enthusiast from Orlando, who’s basically Florida Man with hummingbird wings.

                                                    Olek - Firepower 

can probably punch you hard enough to get a KO, but fights with an Iradium powered flare-gun that does serious damage. from Russia, with a strict I won’t tell you anything about my past policy, and a bizarre fondness for bears. great at giving hugs when you’re down. curly goose wings.

has a highly advanced prosthetic eye. losing the vision in his other eye. the guy who picked up BJ and Elias. has a real morality struggle between the job he does, and his own views on Mercy. probably needs a hug more than he lets on. rhode island red wings.

2. how easily does your oc make friends?

Generally, he’s not bad at it, but I’d say that there are periods of time where he likes to make friends and periods of time where he just won’t make friends. It used to be quite easy for him when he was still a human. When he got turned into a vampire, it was an overall hard time for the first 10-15 years, it took him a while to get adjusted, making new friends wasn’t really a priority. Besides, I’ve mentioned this before: the group of vampires that he and Lilith were turned by…they really hurt him. When they were no longer with them, he eventually somewhat healed and slowly but surely eased back into being sociable (maybe using a little bit of that vampire charm too). After his most heartbreaking experience with Jillian, he again became a loner for a long period of time. He tried to keep himself away from making any kind of relationships because he didn’t want to be broken again…and then, couple decades later, this red haired kid decided to make him his best friend, Caleb tried but couldn’t say no to that and the rest is history.

12. do they like art? what is their favorite type (paintings, songs, fashion, etc)?

He loves art. He loves looking at pretty paintings, but he doesn’t understand modern art too much. Like, it’s nice but…it’s just not the same. Don’t get him started on that banana thing from a few weeks ago lol. He could rant for hours about how he doesn’t understand that it was supposed to be art. Most of his favourite pieces come from 19th or early 20th century.

21. what are some skills your oc has a talent for and what are some that they worked for?

He had to work really, really hard to master his vampire powers. He wasn’t a natural talent. When he and Lilith ran away from the group that turned them, they both were still not that good. Lilith however stole some vampire lore books and they trained alone. Did they get better? A little I guess, but they both truly learned to use their powers when this older, experienced vampire named Sasha offered to help them. S/he was the exact opposite of the cruel vampires Lilith and Caleb ran away from. They were able to grow stronger under his/her watch. (off topic but yes Sasha is genderfluid and uses either she/her or he/him pronouns)

As for skills Caleb has a talent for…he’s not a bad cook. You know how he tries to drink as little blood as possible? He can be really creative with the replacements. (too bad his husband can’t appreciate it because he doesn’t like plasma fruit too much…he’s trying tho, I promise)

UH....Well, we got a Flowerscouts episode this season! And it was good, with some good jokes (mostly, I wasn’t really fond of the whole ‘haha bad dieting habits’ stuff with Miss Priss because....that’s a serious issue and I’m not particularly fond of those kinds of jokes. I get why they’re there, and it’s obvious they’re portraying it as a bad thing, but like...ehhh?) and a few fun cameos ! But....poor Ainsley.....that ending actually made me sadder than anything in The Forest.

...Okay no not really, but like....at least David got out of all that semi-okay and the ending had an uplifting tone. I’m just sad for Ainsley now.

Is it weird that most of the time i dont like to refer to harry as he/him? I'm definitely not saying he identifies as non-cis but I just feel like i misgender if i call harry him... sorry idk why i'm telling you this sksk

Why are you telling me this? Maybe because I sometimes get struck with a very “female” vibe when seeing pics of harry, and then I reblog them tagging “sasha”? (who is beautiful by the way)

Gender is a complex, constructed and very fluid thing and it’s far from weird that people who see it for what it is pick up the more “unconventional” vibes from others. And Harry’s genderbending vibes are sometimes loud (the girl with the pearl earring, girl crush, the gucci genderless fragrance campaign, all of harris reed’s outfits, really) and sometimes subtle (most of my “sasha” pics) but they are authentic.  

That said, we all have to acknowledge that we don’t really know who Harry is, in the endHarry has the final, and only say, though - “it’s 2019, Harry gets to choose” ;-)  

I generally go by he until corrected - I don’t think it’s offensive to question whether that’s the most suited pronoun given all the genderbending stuff he (ahum, yeah, okay) does, as you do - and I would explicitly invite non binary/trans/genderfluid people to give their opinions on what’s the best in this situation - I don’t have all the answers...

how exactly does gender fluidity work?? sorry, i don't wanna offend u or anything i'm just curious

look mate.. . .i haven’t a fucking clue if i’m being honest. . .but, basically, i flow between feeling like a boy and feeling like a girl (and sometimes i’m stuck in between). . .that means that my pronouns change all the time (sometimes it’s after a minute or two, sometimes it’s after 2 years!)basically, my gender is a river, and sometimes the river splits into two of three different rivers, or it stays the same for 20 miles. . . it’s still a river, it’s direction has just changed a little.

for me, i know when i’m a boy and when i’m a girl when i decide what i wear in the morning. if i want something that makes my jawline look sharper (and i start putting in diamond studs), i know i’m probably going to feel more masculine that day and going by he/him would probably be best (though i’m not always consistent, if we’re honest); if i go for something that makes my cheeks look rounder and redder, i’m going to feel more feminine that day and going by she/her is probably the best option for me; and if i go for something that does a little bit of both (probably a denim jacket), i don’t quite have a gender that day, and going by they/them would make the most sense.

my sexuality doesn’t change at all (gorls still make my skinny knees wobble) even though my gender does. i define my sexuality by my birth gender (*cough cough* lesbian *cough cough*), but how others define their sexuality is up to them and i shouldn’t be the one to decide what they should use for them.

Ares is the name i’m thinking about going by, which is gender neutral and also pretty badass (though i am looking at going by “Sasha” (both Alexander and Alexandra), tbc on that one). i don’t go by that name in real life just because i’m testing it out on here first to see if i like it and to see if i’m ready to commit.

the best way to tell if you’re genderfluid it to touch on your feelings over a long period of time, go “what the fuck,” and see if your gender identity or self expression (or how you wish you could expressed) changed or even went back to what it was before.

Mike (he/him, it/its), is an intersex demiboy. He's really proud of being Jewish, and he's born deaf (still is). It's an artist! Drawing is his passion since his teenage years and it's notebooks are full of doodles.

Ash (exclusively uses name), is a pansexual & genderfluid ex-pirate. Ash lost an eye during an attack and got another scar because of it, but it's one of Ash's prides to have survived to this. Ash finds science really interesting and decided to look more into it.

Katie (they/them), is asexual and girlflux. They adore dancing, and dream about being a dancer after finishing high school!

As Asexual Awareness Week ends, I’d like to bring as much attention to canon ace characters as I can, complete with (very basic) reviews! Therefore, I’ll only be talking about canon ace characters that I have read the book/comic.

I’m going to put it all under a cut because I do go a bit into each one!

Ana from Heart of Iron by Ashley Poston.

Ana isn’t stated in the book to be ace, but the author is ace-spec and wrote Ana to be as well. Ana is asexual, and there’s a canon lesbian couple and a canon gay couple.

Heart of Iron is another dystopian fairy tale, but better than any I’ve read. Ana doesn’t remember her past before being found by Captain Siege and joining her aboard the Dossier, essentially a pirate starship. Her best friend is a robot - D09, affectionately called Di - who hasn’t been joined to the hive mind that controlled most metals. All she wants is to fix his glitching, and trying to find what she needs to do it brings her past and her future together.

I actually really love this book. When you read the official synopsis it sounds like it’s a cheesy romance book, but it’s more adventure than anything else. The romance is well integrated into the story, and even though I saw the Big Thing coming a mile away the book was still enjoyable, and the first thing I did when I finished it was check if there would be a sequel.

While Sidney’s asexuality hasn’t been mentioned yet, it has been confirmed by the creator. The comic has great diversity, with the 2 main characters being a gay man with ptsd and an eating disorder (Mitch), and a bisexual man who’s fat, Arab, and adopted (Jonas). Sidney is Jonas’ twin sister, they have a nearly identical build, and she’s an ace lesbian. Scratch is a black lesbian, and Javier is.. I believe Latino. That’s just of the main and kind of main characters.

Long Exposure is an ongoing webcomic about nerd Jonas Wagner and bully Mitch Mueller being forced to work on a high school science project together and encountering a strange research site in the woods. Facing childhood trauma, abusive parents, being followed by a mysterious car, and developing superpowers together, they slowly grow closer and eventually realize they like each other a lot more than friends. -from http://longexposurecomic.com/about

Long Exposure is the first webcomic I ever paid any attention to. There’s a lot of triggering content in it, but it’s fantastic. It does have the bully/nerd trope, but it’s done extremely well, in that Mitch was in a truly shitty situation and truly grows as a person through the comic.

Edd is aroace, Dett is genderfluid and aroace, Carla is ace and pan, Gene is gay and grey-ace, Skip is bigender and demi-pansexual, Sasha is pan and demi, Rolly is a trans girl and is pan and demi, and Ace is ace, agender, and demiromantic. And none of the characters are straight.

Rock and Riot is now finished, and I read it all in one day. I really liked it when I read it, and liked all the characters. It clearly pulled me in immediately, given that I read it all at once. It was very refreshing to see so many LGBTQ+ characters in one place.

Illusions Ch. 1 (Sashea, Sasha/Johnny, Shea/Dan) -El

A/N As a disclaimer I’d like to state that even though I am a US citizen, I don’t know whole lot about becoming one. I also don’t know a whole lot about the Fulbright scholarship program. So if there is some incorrect information in here about either, I apologize. Additionally this first chapter is gonna be a lot of background information, just to get the story rolling. This is also my first fic, so constructive criticism keeping that in mind is welcomed and appreciated.

Summary: Sasha and Johnny are about to be kicked out of the United States and forced to return to Russia because their scholarship programs are ending. Not only would it be extremely dangerous for them to return to Russia, but they can’t bear to leave the life and the friends they’ve made. To stay in the US, they have to make a decision that might affect their relationships. (This will be a polyamorous fic as the story progresses!!)

Sasha’s life had gone from a dream to a nightmare in a matter of a few short weeks. Sasha and her boyfriend have been living in New York through scholarship programs for the last couple of years. Sasha, a Fulbright scholar, had worked extremely hard for this opportunity and has been living a fantasy while getting her master’s degree in the US. Russia was obviously no place for a genderfluid, queer drag queen and she was able to live her truth everyday with her boyfriend, Johnny. But, all good things have to come to an end at some point, right? The ending of Sasha and Johnny’s scholarship programs had quickly approached without them realizing. Now, they had to either return to Russia, or find a legal way to stay in the US. The latter, however, was much harder than it seemed.

Sasha met Shea Couleé through the New York drag scene and they became friends instantly. They were perfect together; their minds connected in a way that allowed them to be both artistically collaborative and best friends. Soon after meeting, Sasha and her boyfriend moved into an apartment with Shea and her boyfriend. Shea, a drag queen, and Dan, a photographer and artist, were thrilled to find out that their Russian friends were in need of a place to live. Shea and her boyfriend had been looking for roommates for a while because unfortunately, people don’t like to pay for art, so they were pretty broke. Shea and Dan were originally from Chicago, but moved to Brooklyn because of the opportunities for them there. Not only did Shea like the Brooklyn drag scene more, but New York was an artist hub. The culture there inspired and amazed them every day.

To make things even better, they all had the best neighbors. Shea, Sasha, Johnny, and Dan had made many close friends through New York’s drag scene, and they managed to move in next door to two of them, Trixie and Katya. Initially, Sasha and Katya grew extremely close as a result of their shared Russian heritage. Since Katya had been living in the US since her teen years, much longer than Sasha and Johnny had been there, her accent wasn’t as strong as Sasha’s (but it was still noticeable). Shea met Katya through Sasha, and it’s through Katya that they met Trixie, Katya’s boyfriend. They moved into their apartments at the same time, being lucky enough to get apartments next door to each other. Another one of their close friends, Peppermint, lived in the same apartment building only one floor below theirs. Obviously these weren’t their only friends, but they were definitely their closest. They were another big reason Sasha and Johnny couldn’t bear to leave the US.

As soon as Sasha realized they were about to be kicked out of the country she went into full panic mode. Thank god Shea and Dan weren’t home to see her breakdown. Johnny, however, was. He walked into their shared bedroom to see her sobbing on their bed.

“Sasha?? What’s wrong babe? What happened?”

“I don’t know what we’re gonna do. We’re gonna have to leave. I can’t leave. I can’t go back.” Sasha rambled through her sobs.

“Sasha what are you talking about? What happened, why do we have to leave?” Johnny asked while making his way over to Sasha, wrapping his arms around her.

Sasha took a minute to compose herself, so she could talk clearly.

“Our scholarships. They’re done. We’re both about to get our degrees, we’re not citizens, so they’re gonna make us go back to Russia. I can’t go back Johnny, it’s too good here. We won’t survive back there.”

Johnny’s heart sunk listening to Sasha. He hadn’t realized any of this. And Sasha was right, they couldn’t go back. They had to find a way to stay in America.

“Listen Sasha. You’re right, we can’t go back. But we’re going to figure something out. It’s gonna be okay. Maybe we can take Shea and Dan out, sit them down, and explain the situation to them. Four heads have to be better than two. They’ll be able to help us. We’ll figure this out.”

Sasha nodded and leaned into Johnny’s embrace, more tears silently falling from her eyes.

“Everything’s going to be okay. We’re going to figure something out. We’re not going anywhere” Sasha thought to herself. She tried to convince herself not to worry.

After lying in bed for about an hour, trying to settle each other’s nerves, Sasha and Johnny heard Shea and Dan return home from shopping.

Sasha’s heart rate sped up, being reminded of their current situation and the need to tell Shea and Dan about it.

Sasha and Johnny walked out into their living room together and sat down on the couch together.

“Hey Shea, Dan? Could you guys come over here for a minute?” Johnny called.

“Sure! What’s up?” Shea asked when she and Dan walked in from the kitchen.

“We have something we need to talk about. Could we all maybe go out to dinner tonight? Maybe the pizza place on the corner?” Sasha nervously asked.

“Of course! What’s the matter? Is everything okay?” Dan questioned.

“No, not really. But we’ll talk about it at dinner, okay? Can we go in about 20 minutes?” Johnny answered.

“Yeah totally. I’ll go change.” Shea answered, pulling Dan in the direction of their room, leaving Sasha and Johnny alone in the living room.

About 30 minutes later they were all sitting in a booth waiting for their food.

“So are you going to tell us what’s up?” Shea asked, concerned.

Sasha looked down into her lap, nervously. “Our scholarship programs are almost over and we don’t know what to do. We didn’t realize, and I think we might have to go back to Russia” Sasha said with tears forming in her eyes.

Shea and Dan gasped.

“No, you guys can’t go back there. There has to be something we can do to keep you here.” Shea immediately responded.

Johnny sighed, “I wish there was something we could do. But it would take way too long to become citizens. I don’t know what else we can do.”

“We’re going to figure something out. We have to. I love you guys too much to let you just leave.” Shea said quietly.

“Yeah, Shea’s right. We can all do some research tonight, to find out other ways for you to stay here, okay? Does that sound good?” Dan asked.

They all nodded.

“This is gonna be one long night” Sasha thought.
