Some time ago, I made a journal (https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/10927368) stating how I’m getting worried about what might happen in the upcoming Jellystone! crossover special.
Basically, Joesanchez has told me that, due to the “mean-spirited” nature of the show, the episode might end with all of the 19 universes featured on it being erased from existence forever. It doesn’t help that 1. it’s named after a DC crossover event that did the same thing; 2. in real life Cartoon Network lost their studio and their website, so the special ending with all the classics being purged could be sort of a “Reality Subtext”.
Besides, DC already eliminated the 2003 Teen Titans series in the recent animated adaptation of Infinite Earths, so it’s not out of the question that Warner Bros is willing to greenlight this special not to celebrate Cartoon Network, but to tell everyone “Here, Robot Jones’ world is gone forever, which means we don’t have to make a sequel or reboot of it ever. Tough break.” This will be the ultimate “Torch the Franchise(s) and Run”.
The worst part is that the crappy CN shows such as Steven Universe and Gumball are not part of this special, which means they’ll get to survive even though they don’t deserve it. We will have to endure more of their beanmouth styles and crappy tumblr fanfiction writing that makes Hazbin Hotel look like a masterpiece in comparison. At least actually good shows were also spared like Generator Rex and Infinity Train… which isn’t saying much considering their real life fates.
Of course, there is the possibility that I’ll be proven wrong and the special has a decent ending (for Jellystone! standards anyway) that will do these characters justice, and I’ve wasted my time drawing this and writing this rant about your precious CalArts Style crap. But for now, it looks like it’s curtains for Dexter, Aron City, Cow and Chicken, Townsville, Peach Creek, the Time Squad, Samurai Jack, Robot Jones, Endsville, Bunny Island, Sector V, Foster’s, Camp Kidney, Charles Darwin Middle School, Ben Tennyson, Marzipan City, Stormalong Harbor, the Land of Ooo, the park and 18 years of continuity. It’s the Super Genesis Wave all over again, and this time is personal.
All of these belong to Warner Bros. Discovery. Art based off a panel of DC’s Infinite Crisis.
 “24 hours, 7 days a week, from now to the end of times”… which turned out to be 2024.
You must be wondering though, why is Yogi crying? You’ll see soon enough.

Does anyone else think that we're stuck in an ever-growing cycle of constant reboots, remakes, revivals & adaptations that nobody asked for or wanted or am I just running my mouth in a half-assed attempt to make a point about Hollywood?
I mean, think about it. Disney pumping out 8 million live action remakes & sequels, Netflix shitting out live action adaptations & revivals of old shows (ATLA, Good Times) & then proceeding to neuter & sanitize anything that could be "problematic" so it ends up bland as fuck (or in the case of Good Times, they somehow manage to make it racist & offensive to the people they're trying to appeal too), paramount making another ren & stimpy revival (& letting the new writers push out the OG cartoonists who worked on it because they were old white guys, not kidding.) & now we got this.
Like, I'm not even a fan of Gumby or anything - I'm really not - but Jesus christ, hearing this being announced makes me want to hit the executives who greenlit this shit with rolling pins (or alternatively frying pans). When I think claymation or just stopmotion in general, I think Gumby. Making Gumby in 2D is like an angel without wings. It's just unnatural. Hell, wasn't Gumby's whole appeal was him being in stopmotion? You take that away & what do you even have left? And of course they had to give it this ugly beanmouth style that Hollywood just won't let die for some ungodly reason. It's on par with that stupid geometric style that companies like Google LOVEEEEE using.

And I just got me thinking, ".....We really are just stuck here, huh?"
At this point, it feels like every single company in Hollywood right now is just on a never ending quest to see how long they can go remaking & rebooting the exact same shit over & over again with worse & worse quality until people inevitably stop tuning in to see it.
Conclusion?
We should section off the entirely of LA from the rest of California & just firebomb it wit extreme prejudice until it's a smoking crater.

Buttdog is brought in to sleep at Rachel-sorry, Rachael and Sarah's room. And suddenly Chalo learned to draw beanmouth??? That is probably the most uncanny chibi face in this comic thus far.
I think Buttdog is def leaning into the "only sane person in a world full of assholes" route. I think she should join forces with Rachel-sorry, Rachael and Tiare and fix this horrible world.

An important note about the term "Calarts style" is the originator, John K, known asshole and (alleged) sex pest, also applied it to fucking everything from post-Walt but pre-Renaissance Disney movies like Sword and the Stone, to limited animation cartoons of the 90s like Dexter’s Lab, to the anime inspired shows of the early 00s, and then the beanmouth style of cartoons today (which I will admit I also don’t care for but I can overlook it if the show is good enough). Basically it’s always been a worthless term that meant nothing.
More proof that John K is incapable of creating anything of merit without a crew of people able to pick up for his slack, just like with other famous creeps Justin Roiland and Max Landis

Something I always want to make (And hope to do it in the future, when my skills and "career" evolve) is a game that gives you a feeling of going through different worlds, like a journey or rollercoaster.
Maybe include the dream-like "liminal spaces" stuff people like but in a way where I reference actual dreams I've had and don't make it come off as internet pandering.
But also because of the diversity of my characters and the idea of "types" in certain media, but still using more specific influences/preferences and be a bit creative.
Like think of different worlds in games.
Mario usually has green grass fields, desert levels, ice levels etc.
So certain games always have "diverse worlds" but made to fit a certain brand.
Imagine extending that so the worlds feel more different, like almost a crossover.
An ice level/world can be anything:
Something cute with christmas trees and snowmen.
A city covered in snow.
A fantasy realm with a snow castle.
A planet with extremely low temperatures and alien life part of it.
A military base with guards.
I'm also reminded of Golden Souls, a series of Doom mods mainly inspired by Mario but the variety of worlds is diverse enough that they can be based off other series like Resident Evil or Castlevania.
And then there's stuff I want to avoid like Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard because I wouldn't want a Drawn Together parody direction.
It's why I hope I get to remake Project Nortubel in like 10 years with better visuals and presentation, but also include different worlds in other games, besides just doing more with certain characters/ideas.
Maybe even make something feel "seamless" like Half-Life where you feel like you're taking this transdimensional journey.
I'm also reminded of a 4chan rage bait image where a guy goes "what I want vs what I got" over wanting videogames to look like old novels/comics concept art and saying modern games are generic looking.
But it does remind me of how a lot of games people like have specific media influences and how modern tech should make it easier to mimic the look of a Philippe Druillet comic.
Because when it comes to someone saying videogames look the same, they always stop at photorealistic brown FPS but never at certain fantasy/sci-fi aesthetics being more used than others.
Kinda like how "CalArts" was used to make fun of "beanmouth" cartoons but some people doing that refuse to point out Disney's presense in animation looking less diverse.
But honestly, it's just a matter of picking different media, copying it and making a "journey" out of it.
Edit to add more:
Different music is worth considering, specially if you have specific preferences and a variety, instead of just mimicking videogame music or something like that.
UI/HUD stuff too, since Nortubel even has different stylized titles for worlds. This was inspired by Kingdom Hearts.
How about playable characters and genres? Someone once thought Bonka should be playable in Nortubel, but with that in mind, I'd also do the same for some other characters with different genres in a potential remake. Bonka and Leon get 2D platforming, Kalub gets a top down puzzle with some combat, Uulga gets beat em ups, Yiegour gets an FPS mode etc.
