The fact is that the ‘Hexsquad’ wouldn’t exist without Willow.

(I’m going to be ranting)

Willow Park literally met everyone before the hexsquad even existed. It started with Amity, being friends with her and then stopping is what compelled Luz and to try to connect to Amity and to rekindle Amity’s and Willow’s friendship. If they never had that friendship or that mutual kind of hate for each other, Luz wouldn’t’ve minded that and left it alone, and we all know it.

Then, Gus. Willow met Gus while Gus was having a panic attack in a classroom. Willow was hiding out in the classroom presumably due to getting bullied (by Amity and co) and she decides to befriend or at least try to calm down Gus, teaching him a breathing technique that her dads (Harvey and Gilbert) taught her so she could calm down. That leaded to her befriending Gus, befriending another person of what is now the ‘Hexsquad’.

Then, there was Luz. She met Luz in the forest after Amity was talking down on Willow, and they immediately hit it off. Luz proposed to be her abomination so Willow could get a passing grade and up-show Amity, which resulted in Willow having an outburst and showing her actual talent, which was plant magic, getting her befriended by Luz and put into the plant track, showing her true talent. Yet again, there’s another person in the hexsquad and more self-confidence.

Lastly, Hunter. All of Hunter’s life was really spent inside the castle and being a child soldier, and with the hints, and autistic child. He was raised in an abusive household, barely even being raised, truly, and was deprived of a lot of things in his childhood, including social interactions, doing simple ‘child’ things like going to the park, playing with friends, playing with toys, he had been deprived of all of that, and meeting Willow, that was his first true, honest friend. Other than flapjack, of course, but that was his palisman. Meeting Willow, a true friend and later on partner, was truly a special thing for him because it was a true friend and someone who wouldn’t give up on him. Everyone else who had an interaction with him in the hexsquad he was acted negatively or they didn’t like him. Luz tried, he didn’t bust, he reacted badly. He literally FOUGHT Amity, and Gus was suspicious of him; thinking that he’d hurt Willow and that he was shady. Only later on did he become friends with the rest of them, because Willow trusted him. Gus started trusting him because due to Hunter knowing him THROUGH WILLOW, did he save him. Willow and Gus stayed friends with Hunter while Luz was gone, bringing him around during Clouds on the Horizon and afterwards.

So, if you really think about it, without Willow, the WHOLE HEXSQUAD wouldn’t exist. Hunter would’ve probably still be a villain, Gus wouldn’t be known, Amity still would’ve been a ‘mean girl’, and Luz probably wouldn’t have a lot of things going for her, like info on the emperor, that field trip to the emperors castle where she got captured and we found out about Eda’s curse, Hexside, and the quite frankly, a lot of other things.

In the end, Willow is a very key factor to ‘The Owl House’, and the show wouldn’t be the same without her, and she is one of the most important cast members of the show, and she is a very cool and awesome sauce character. 😁👍

I drew this about a year ago, but I had to make a few digital edits to make it presentable and just now got around to doing that. And I can't be bothered to do backgrounds any more than absolutely necessary.

I saw a reference picture, and my coworker suggested Hunter and Gus. Of course that seemed perfect, so here we are. And I thought it would be hilarious if the wrong person was wearing the helmet.

hunter and gus postcannon doodle i overcomplicated

(i think gus's postcanon design is my least favorite. so many elements seem so thrown together but not in a gus way. i mostly just dislike his hair though.... every 10 years people discover a black hairstyle and design every character for the next 10 years w that hairstyle. im sick of it)

so going back to the possessed hunter scene

i just find this scene so hilarious because most of the squad are trying to take belos down without hurting hunter

gus is using illusion magic to confuse and distract him

willow is only going on defense or trying to hold him down

vee is using magic absorption to free hunter

luz is trying the "i know you're in there" tactic or the power of friendship (ironically considering how they dunked on it so many times in the show lmao)

and then there's amity who just fucking launches a purple nuke at him
