"You're so annoying!" you whined, still half-asleep, wrapping your arms around him even more tightly, refusing to let go. He found your clinginess endearing and couldn't help but chuckle.
"You say that, yet here you are, clinging onto me like a backpack." He teased, a warm smile spreading across his face. Mornings usually found you like this, but today, you seemed particularly clingy.
You let out a soft huff, burying your face into the pillow while clinging to him tightly. Yunho's heart melted at the sight, and he leaned down to plant a gentle kiss on your forehead, attempting to wriggle free from your embrace, but you just wouldn't let go!
"Sweetheart, as much as I wish I could stay here with you, I really have to go..." He tried once more, his voice laced with affection, hoping to coax you but you simply turned your head away. He couldn't help but marvel at how adorable you were, even if it left him a bit perplexed at times.
"Alright then, I guess I’ll just have to take you along with me," he declared with a feigned sigh, before swooping down to lift you into his arms, cradling you like a bride as he made his way to the bathroom, a grin threatening to break free.
Your eyes flew open in surprise, the remnants of sleep fading as you instinctively wrapped your arms around his neck, caught off guard yet filled with joy.
"My baby just needs a little more attention, hm?" he murmured, nuzzling into your hair for a brief moment as he stepped into the bathroom, gently placing you on the counter.
A small smile crept onto your face as he leaned in, planting an incredibly tender kiss on your lips that sent your heart racing. Even after all this time together, he still had the power to make your stomach flutter.
"Maybe I should take the day off..." you heard him say, pulling you from your daydream.
"Really?" you asked, meeting his gaze, a mix of happiness and guilt washing over you. You didn’t want him to sacrifice his plans just for you.
"... sweetheart, come back to me." Yunho said, cradling your face gently, bringing you back to the moment with soft kisses peppered across your cheeks.
"I'm feeling a bit lazy myself now, and I can't bear to leave you like this..."

🍂 Coffee shop fiasco
🔑 ONE-SHOT! (1) - Hongjoong
PAIRING: Workaholic Hongjoong x Afab! Reader
GENRE: Romance (Fluff)
WARNINGS: Cursing, Suggestive Jokes, Mention of alcohol.
WORD COUNT: 7K+
🔒 English isn’t my first language, so I apologize for any mistakes.
Autumn slowly took over Seoul as It painted the city with all sort of vibrant colours. The trees that once wore a lively green now presented a dazzling array of reds, yellows, and oranges. The newly found atmosphere truly turned the streets into a cosy wonderland. Say goodbye to your favourite summer outfits and start dressing more toasty! A soft breeze is sure to follow your every step, and what is better than a hot beverage to battle the upcoming cold?
As much as I love the beautiful scenery, the cold does always seem to bite me in the worst ways. Luckily, the winter collections were in sale during the summer, giving me the perfect excuse to go shopping for toasty and cosy new clothing items for this autumn and winter!
As I made my way towards my workplace down the street, I gently adjust the folds of my new shawl. The fabric was so soft and warm, it kept my shoulders and face just the right temperature. A tender smile graced my lips. My body and mind relaxed. I felt confident, as if today was going to be easier than usual.
A contented sigh escaped my lips as I stepped into the cosy haven of the coffee shop, a place familiar and dear to my heart—“Rise & Shine,” the finest coffee haven on this block. This shop had such a lovely ambiance to it, you just felt like you had to sit down and relax. The soft smell of coffee and pastries accompanied by the sound of vintage oldies softly playing in the background had a special place in my heart.
"Good morning, Y/N," Seonghwa's warm voice greeted me as I entered the space, his attention momentarily diverted from tidying the tables, a towel casually draped over his shoulder. Our gazes met, for just a split second. "Morning, Hwa," I replied, a soft smile gracing my lips, a silent acknowledgment of the comfort found in our shared routine.
I headed to the bar and punched in to start my shift. Grabbing my assigned apron, tying it securely behind me. I cracked my knuckles and began my usual opening tasks, getting things ready for the day ahead.
A few hours passed, and the shop was rather empty. Don’t get me wrong, I was incredibly happy It wasn’t super busy. Who would want to work that hard? I get paid minimum wage… No, thank you.
While I carefully tidied up the bar, Seonghwa came closer, his expression adorned with a mischievous yet charming smile. "Y/N~," he called out softly, his tone laced with a hint of guilt. "Table six wants a cappuccino and a pastry. Anything would do, according to him. Would you pretty please handle that for me?" His voice carried a playful whine, accompanied by an earnest gaze framed by puppy-like eyes and a pronounced pout gracing his lips.
"Seonghwa, this is the third time you've asked me to do your order. Is everything alright?" I ask sincerely as I made my way to the coffee machine to prepare the requested cappuccino for table six.
"Honestly? Not really," Seonghwa admitted, a hint of vulnerability colouring his voice. Leaning against the bar, he wore a sad smile while sharing his struggles. "I'm having a rough day. I can feel a cold coming on, that irritating scratch in the back of my throat will not leave me alone." he confessed, his expression a mix of discomfort and resignation.
"Ah, that's rough," I sympathized, offering a gentle, understanding smile as I turned towards the pastry counter. Bending down, I retrieved a delectable chocolate-filled croissant, my voice slightly muffled by the action. "If you're feeling under the weather tomorrow, do let me know, alright?" I suggested, hoping to alleviate his worries.
Seonghwa emitted a soft chuckle. "I'll keep that in mind.”
"Perfect. I'll handle table six, no need to fret," I assured him, tenderly patting his back as I straightened up. Placing the chocolate-covered croissant on a dainty plate, I carefully transferred it to a tray, positioning it beside the freshly brewed cappuccino. Each movement carried a sense of care and consideration, a gesture intended to comfort not just our customers, but also my co-worker behind the bar.
Carefully, I balance the tray in my hands as I approached table six. A young man, seemingly in his mid-twenties, sat there typing away on his laptop. His tired appearance was very clear. Beneath his eyes, slight eyebags were present. They were slightly red and puffy, as were his lips... Almost as if he had cried. But I knew better than to question strangers by their appearance. Maybe he just had a bad day?
"Here's your order, sir," I murmured softly, my voice almost a whisper, almost as if I felt the need to not disturb him further. His deep, dark brown eyes met mine as I carefully positioned the tray on his table. "Thank you," he replied. A subtle smile graced his lips, causing his glasses to shift slightly upward. My heart skipped a beat at the small gesture.
I couldn't help but get lost in his eyes, holding my gaze longer than I intended. A flush of embarrassment coloured my cheeks as I realized I might have been staring a bit too intently. Swiftly breaking the eye contact, I coughed lightly, hoping to alleviate the awkwardness that had settled in the air.
Managing a timid smile, I spoke up, "If there's anything else you need, my colleague and I will be over at the bar." I tried to sound composed, despite the lingering awkwardness from my inadvertent staring. I shifted slightly, attempting to regain my composure as I awaited his response, hoping to smooth over the momentary discomfort.
The man gave me a nod in response before going back to typing on his laptop. Quickly, I made my way back to behind the bar. Once behind the bar, a large amount of air left my lungs with a complimentary hand on my chest.
“What was that all about? You into sleep-deprived blondies?” Seonghwa laughed silently before shoving my arm playfully. "What? No," I replied with a scowl, "He just has pretty glasses.” Rolling my eyes at his teasing, I returned my focus to the task at hand, but his laughter lingered in the air, making my cheeks flush.
As more time drifted by, I found myself nearing the end of my shift. The intriguing man with the tired eyes and pretty glasses was still here, completely absorbed in his tasks. But that wasn't odd at all. It seemed like a routine—people dropping in every day to finish whatever they had to do. As a matter of fact, tonight, the mysterious glasses man wasn't even the only one typing away on his laptop.
As the final moments of my shift approached, I neatly folded my apron and set it aside. The mysterious man signalled Seonghwa for the bill. With a nod, Seonghwa called out, "Y/N! Table Six, the bill, please!" A reluctant groan slipped past my lips as I headed towards the register. I swiftly printed the bill and carried it over to his table, my steps feeling slightly heavier than usual.
"Here you are, sir," I offered, extending the bill, which he accepted with a gentle grace. "Here, keep the change as a tip," he insisted, passing me the money, a generous act that conjured a genuine smile upon my lips. "Oh, thank you. That's incredibly kind of you," I expressed my gratitude warmly. “It is no big deal. Now, I really must get going. Goodnight.” As he stood up to leave, I made my way back to the bar to finally officially end my shift.
"You know, I'm certain you did that on purpose," I accused Seonghwa, my gaze stern yet filled with playfulness. He chuckled sweetly in response. "What? You liked his glasses, didn't you?" Seonghwa teased, struggling to contain his laughter as he noticed my annoyed expression. Causing a heavy sigh to escape my lips. "You're an asshole. I'll see you tomorrow, unless you're too sick. Take care, Hwa!" I giggled as I made my way to the coffee shop's exit, our banter leaving a lingering smile on my face.
The chill of the autumn evening brushed against my cheeks, prompting me to swiftly wrap a shawl around my shoulders, seeking warmth against the cool breeze. Thankfully, my home was a mere five-minute stroll away, and the path home promised a serene and beautiful walk.
Under the morning sky, I strolled down the familiar street, heading towards the cosy café filled with the inviting scent of coffee and the soft old vintage tunes. Yet, today was different. There was something else on my mind—a lingering thought about the mysterious man from yesterday.
Would he happen to be there again today?
As I walked, I couldn't help but wonder, my mind was filled with anticipation and a hint of excitement. My routine felt a tad more thrilling, tinged with the possibility of crossing paths with the intriguing stranger once more.
I couldn't believe how much space he was taking up inside my head. I mean, seriously, I didn't even have a clue what his name was. But those gorgeous blond locks and those deep, soulful brown eyes? They managed to hijack my thoughts last night, keeping me wide awake for longer than I wanted.
I pushed the thought aside as I stepped into "Rise & Shine," immediately met by a familiar face—Seonghwa. "I'm not sick!" He blurted out before I even reached the counter. "I freaked out, thinking I'd have to blow my only sick days on a stupid cold. Morning, by the way." His grin lit up the room as he wrapped me in a swift hug. I chuckled and returned the embrace, feeling a warmth spreading through me at his contagious happiness.
"Thank goodness you're not sick. I'd hate to grind through the shift solo," I remarked, securing my apron around my waist.
"I know, I'm irreplaceable," Seonghwa said, a playful smirk on his lips. "Kidding, kidding. But let's face it, I'd miss dealing with your whiny ass." His teasing tone carried a hint of affection, sparking a playful banter between us as we readied ourselves for the day ahead.
A few hours into our shift, Seonghwa approached me, leaning against the bar. He had just finished tidying some tables. "Lost in thought, huh?" His sudden question caught me off guard. Was I that noticeably distracted? I mentally scolded myself. "No, not really." I replied, attempting to sound casual, all while scrubbing the counter with more vigor than necessary.
"Come on now," Seonghwa nudged, his eyes holding a knowing glint. "We've been best friends for three years. I can always tell when something's bothering you, Y/N." He was right. There was no need to keep this dumb thought hidden. The man wasn’t even here, so what harm could it do?
"Okay, fine. It's about that guy from yesterday," I admitted with a sigh, meeting Seonghwa's gaze. It was unusual for me to discuss customers, especially if I found them intriguing. Normally, the only time a customer came up in conversation was if they were rude or caused some sort of trouble. But this situation felt different, and it intrigued my coworker enough to prompt his attention.
"You mean the one with the ‘cute’ glasses?" Seonghwa arched an eyebrow, fully invested in what I had to say now. He had his arms prompted up on the counter as he looked at me with a slight smirk on his face.
"Yeah… It’s just his looks and the way he spoke... so gentle. Kept me up longer than I care to admit," I confessed, feeling a hint of embarrassment tingeing my cheeks.
Seonghwa's reaction was unexpected; he let out a small gasp before bursting into laughter. "I totally get it! The guy did have a certain appeal, even with that, how should I put it... sleep-deprived look. Seriously, that guy needs some shut-eye," Seonghwa chuckled, his laughter filling the air around us. I couldn't help but shake my head at his response, his light-heartedness bringing a smile to my face.
"He was cute, and surprisingly kind. Even left a tip. Hard not to think about him. I guess I sort of hoped he'd come back," I admitted, a slight shrug accompanying my words. Seonghwa nodded in understanding.
"The evening rush is coming up. Who knows, maybe he'll show up again?" Seonghwa tried to lift my spirits, offering a gentle pat on my head. His attempt to lift my mood was appreciated.
"I hope you're right," I murmured quietly, my thoughts lingering on the possibility before refocusing on the tasks at hand.
As the evening rush surged in, a wave of late-night workers, young adults, and teens flooded into the café. It was a bustling night, each order stacking upon the other, demanding my undivided attention. The atmosphere buzzed with energy, my mind was too preoccupied with the mounting orders to even ponder if the mysterious man had made a return.
"Three lattes for table twelve? Ugh, I'm beat. Why couldn't Yunho have been called in to lend a hand?" Seonghwa complained, swiftly getting to work on the lattes.
"Mingi's on shift at the other location tonight. And I tried reaching Felix, no luck," I replied with a slight pout, noticing the disappointment etching on Seonghwa's face.
"Don't stress, we've got this," I reassured him, playfully nudging his shoulder before hurrying off to attend to the order placed by table two. Working in tandem, we manoeuvred through the busy café, determined to tackle the mountain of orders with teamwork.
I returned to the bar, ready to tackle the next set of orders, when I found Seonghwa sporting a mischievous grin. "Y/N~ I've got a special request for you. And before you say anything! I’ll take care of your order. Could you do this one for Kim Hongjoong?" His smirk widened, clearly revealing in the baffled look on my face.
"Uh, okay," I replied, arching an eyebrow in curiosity as I glanced over the order slip he passed me. It was an iced Americano. Nothing too complex. Swiftly, I prepared the drink, effortlessly crafting it to perfection before making my way to the designated table. Table six, situated right by the window.
There he was, yet again. My eyes slightly widened at the sight of those blond locks and those beautiful eyes. He was focussed on his laptop, much like the day before. A rush of emotions stirred within me, causing my heart to skip a beat and a faint blush to grace my cheeks. It was confusing. Why did I feel this nervous around him? After all, he was just another customer.
Gathering my nerves, I approached his table with a deep breath. "Your order, sir," I delivered with what I hoped was a cool and collected tone. His eyes met mine, and that familiar small smile adorned his face, making my heart flutter. He was seriously good-looking.
"Thanks," he replied, his voice warm and friendly. Despite my attempt to play it cool, I couldn't help but grin back before hastily stepping away, hoping he didn't catch the small dust of pink that painted my cheeks.
"You! you, oh my god!" I exclaimed, pointing at Seonghwa before playfully hitting his arm. His laughter filled the air. "Ouch, Y/N!" he protested, catching my arms and holding my gaze. "How about a thank you? Now you know his name, at least," Seonghwa said, a hint of amusement fading as he noticed my puzzled expression.
"Take this order for Kim Hongjoong?" he repeated the words from earlier, a smirk tugging at his lips. "You're a bit slow on the uptake, Y/N," he teased, chuckling at the way my eyes widened in surprise.
"Kim Hongjoong... That's his name? Oh, Seonghwa, you're a lifesaver!" I exclaimed, brimming with excitement, and pulled him into a grateful hug. His smile beamed with pride as I thanked him.
"I know, I'm amazing," Seonghwa joked with a playful grin. "But hey, let's focus and finish up these orders before our shift ends, or we'll be stuck doing overtime." He gently disengaged from the hug, flashing one last reassuring smile before turning back to his tasks.
He was right, as always. My fleeting moment of happiness was swiftly overshadowed by the overwhelming pile of work that awaited us. "I swear, I hate this job," I groaned, feeling the weight of the tasks ahead as I grabbed hold of a coffee glass.
"Excuse me?" A drowsy voice called out from behind me, pulling my attention. I spun around to meet the source of the voice, only to find myself face to face with the man I now recognized as Kim Hongjoong. My heart skipped a beat, prompting me to hastily tidy my apron and smooth down my hair before offering him a welcoming smile. "Hi, how can I assist you?" I greeted him nervously, my smile betraying the subtle flutter in my chest as he looked at me with curiosity in his eyes.
"Um, could I get another iced Americano?" His voice sounded slightly unsure, and it echoed with a hint of nervousness. His uncertainty reflected in my own nerves. Did I have something on my face? Was my hair dishevelled? I fought off the panic rising within me, offering a kind smile in response. "Absolutely, not a problem at all. I'll bring it to your table."
"Oh, no, it's fine. I can wait here. You seem quite busy already, and I don't want to add to your workload. I'm already here anyway," he quickly replied, wanting to spare me the trouble of walking over to serve him. His consideration only added to the flurry of emotions swirling within me.
"That's really kind of you," I remarked, a genuine smile lighting up my face as I reached for a glass to prepare his iced Americano. Catching his gaze, I noticed his returning smile, soft and gentle, causing a warmth to spread through me. His simple gesture made my cheeks flush with a soft hue.
"Here's your coffee," I said, passing him the freshly prepared drink. As our fingers briefly brushed against each other, a surge of warmth ignited within me, sending a subtle yet undeniable spark. Could it be possible? Was I actually starting to feel something for this stranger?
"Thank you so much. I desperately need this caffeine to stay awake," he chuckled, his laughter so endearing it effortlessly brought a smile to my lips.
"You seem like a hard worker" he nodded towards me. "Thank you, I do my best," I replied. "Oh, by the way, I never caught your name," he said, his lips curled in a gentle, constant smile as he looked at me.
"I'm L/N Y/N, but feel free to just call me Y/N," I replied, feeling a rush of happiness. Him starting a conversation and asking about my name made me feel like I was in some sort of movie.
"A pleasure to meet you. My name is Kim Hongjoong," he introduced himself with a warm smile. Although I already knew his name, I played along.
"You can just call me Hongjoong," he added, offering his hand for a handshake. I gently accepted, feeling the softness of his touch and the carefulness in his handshake, which sent a pleasant shiver down my spine.
"I'll let you get back to work. Thanks again for the coffee," he said graciously before making his way back to his table, leaving me with a lingering sense of joy from our brief interaction.
"Okay, what was that?" Seonghwa questioned from behind me. I could almost feel the mischievous grin on his face as I turned around to face him.
"Nothing special," I nonchalantly brushed it off, trying to downplay it. However, the warm flush on my face betrayed my true feelings. Without thinking, I instinctively hid my face in my hands, attempting to shield my embarrassment.
Seonghwa chuckled softly at my attempt to hide the evident blush on my face as he leaned against the bar. "You sure about that? Looked like more than just 'nothing special' to me."
I sighed, letting my hands fall back to my sides. "It wasn’t something ‘special’ It just left me a bit flustered because he’s cute Hwa. But, it doesn’t matter, he’s just a customer."
Seonghwa raised an eyebrow, a playful smirk dancing on his lips. A look I know all too well."Just a customer? That's not what I’m seeing here. The way he looked at you and that whole handshaking thing—come on, Y/N, don’t be like that!"
Rolling my eyes, I leaned against the counter right next to him. "It's not like that. We had a little chat. That's all."
Seonghwa leaned in, his tone teasing. "Uh-huh, just a little chat that left you blushing like a schoolgirl. Classic sign of something more, if you ask me."
I nudged him playfully. "You're reading too much into it. Besides, he's probably not even interested.” I said while turning away from him to try and continue on with the last few orders.
Seonghwa grinned mischievously. "Well, there's one way to find out. Why don't you slip him your number with his next coffee? You know, just in case he needs any more 'caffeine to stay awake.'"
I hastily turned back around to give his arm a playful slap, my cheeks flared a rosy pink as an undeniable smile crept on my lips. "Seonghwa! You're unbelievable. I'm not just going to give a customer my number."
He laughed at my sudden display before shooting me a small wink. "Who said anything about giving? Slip it in with his receipt, make it a little mysterious. Trust me, it works like a charm."
“Yea right, maybe in one of those movies or K-drama’s you watch.” I laughed with a smirk on my lips. If he got to tease me, so did I. He looked at me with a small pout. “Y/N, just give it a try. How will you ever get prince charming if you don’t take your first step?”
I sighed, contemplating the idea. "I don't know about that, Hwa. It feels a bit too forward."
Seonghwa gave my hair a small ruffle before returning to his work. "Well, you'll never know if you don't try. Life's too short for missed opportunities, Y/N."
As I pondered Seonghwa's suggestion, my gaze involuntarily drifted back to Hongjoong's table. He was immersed in his work, unaware of our conversation. The thought of taking a chance and leaving a note lingered in my mind, adding an unexpected twist to an otherwise ordinary day at the coffee shop.
There was just a pang of regret in my heart. Why did I have to turn down Seonghwa’s advice? The missed opportunity to just get a little bit closer to mysterious glasses man slipped through my fingers like sand.
By now days, no weeks? Two whole months had passed, and Hongjoong had returned every single day. He became a constant presence in the coffee shop, engrossed in his laptop, as he quickly became a pleasant part of my daily routine.
Seonghwa, being my best friend of course, did some digging for me and found out about Hongjoong's workplace—a high-ranking office. It all made sense now. His perpetual dedication to work had a foundation in a position of apparent importance, a fact that intrigued me. Seonghwa insisted that Hongjoong held a significant role in his company. “I swear, He must be some high rank there if he has that much work.” Were his exact words.
Despite my missed opportunities, I still managed to have a few interactions with Hongjoong. Usually just casual exchanges. Our conversations, while enjoyable, still made me year for more than casual. I wanted to get to know him. His mysterious self just made me so… Drawn to him.
"Evening, Hongjoong!" Seonghwa's familiar voice rang out from behind the bar, drawing my attention in his direction. A gentle smile graced my lips as my eyes locked with Hongjoong's, those captivating deep pools that had captured my heart.
I greeted him with a small wave, and he gave me a smile and a wave of his own. "The usual?" I asked as he approached the bar. "Yeah, you always know just what I need, Y/N," he chuckled, a warmth lingering in his laughter as he headed toward his regular spot at table six, like clockwork, just like every other day.
The evening shifts had become my haven, and the reason why, wasn't much of a mystery. The soft music of oldies whispered through the building, creating a comforting melody that made me feel at peace as I prepared Hongjoong’s favourite iced Americano. Tonight, the coffee shop wore a quiet ambiance, with only a few scattered customers, but that didn’t bother me at all.
Completing his drink, I carried the cold cup to his usual table. As I handed it over, our eyes met, and he expressed his gratitude with a warm smile. I mirrored the sentiment with a smile of my own.
"Busy as ever, Hongjoong?" I found myself asking, an inexplicable urge to talk to him. It wasn't every day that I felt this confident, but having known him for a while now, I dared to strike a conversation.
He shook his head, a hint of weariness in his eyes. "I actually worked ahead a few days back, so I'm working on extra tasks for the future." His response caught me off guard for a brief moment, my eyes widening in surprise, before I quickly composed myself. Hongjoong, noticing the change in my expression, wore a concerned look.
"Work ahead? Seriously, do you ever take a break?" I added a teasing tone to my words, hoping to lighten the mood, but Hongjoong simply shook his head, his expression carrying a weight of solemn determination.
"I can't afford to rest. I'd rather stay ahead of the game, even if it means diving into work I haven't received yet,"
His words lingered in the air, leaving me both speechless and impressed, and I took a moment to formulate a response. "That's admirable. But really... When was the last time you had some time for yourself?"
Hongjoong paused, contemplating his answer. "Honestly, I don't exactly remember when I last took a day to myself." A small chuckle escaped my lips. "Come on, man. You're already ahead. Why not take a day off?"
He pondered on my question for a moment. "What could I even do?" His response left me slightly puzzled. Was he serious? "Well, you could go get dinner or go out, maybe catch a movie?" I suggested a few options, and he looked at me with curiosity, nodding to indicate he was listening.
"Actually, I have my day off in two days. I was planning on grabbing dinner somewhere, but I haven't found someone to accompany me yet. No worries, though; the main thing is, you should take some time for yourself. It's important," I shared, watching Hongjoong nod once again.
"Well, I suppose I can look into taking a day off," he mused, a smile forming on his lips. I returned his smile before turning my attention back to my work.
The remainder of my shift went peacefully, passing by quicker than anticipated. As the end drew near, I noticed Hongjoong rising from his seat, gathering his belongings, likely heading to the bar to settle the bill.
"Hey, Y/N. Could I get the bill and a pen, please?" His voice caught my attention. "Sure, one second," I replied, drying my hands before tearing my gaze away from the unwashed glasses. Was I going crazy or did Hongjoong look, nervous? The thought stayed in my head as I approached the register to input his bill.
I handed him the bill and a pen, and he silently thanked me. Observing as he jotted something down on a small note, I assumed it was just a reminder for a task he intended to work on later. However, my surprise grew as he handed me the money, along with the mysterious note.
Confusion painted my face, but before I could voice my confusion, he bid us goodbye and exited the building, leaving me to unravel the mysteries concealed within that note. The lingering question of what could be written on that piece of paper danced in my mind, a subtle thought that lingered even after he disappeared from view.
I could feel Seonghwa’s growing presence behind me as I unfolded the note. “I took your advice, and planned a day off. You mentioned earlier that you had your day off in two days and that you lacked someone to accompany you to dinner. I figured I would take this opportunity to ask if I could accompany you? Just in case of yes, here’s my number.”
I read out loud, a growing smile playing on my lips. "Oh my god..." I muttered, utterly speechless as I revisited the message, reading it again and again. "Did he just ask you out?" Seonghwa inquired curiously, grabbing the note from my hands to read it himself.
I spun around in an attempt to retrieve the note, but Seonghwa only laughed, holding it higher and making me grow more annoyed. "Hwa, please! Give that back."
"Fine, fine. Here you go." He handed me the note, followed by a playful pat on the head. "Don't want to keep Prince Charming waiting now, do we?" His teasing voice caused my cheeks to flare, and a small huff escaped my lips.
Yet, any lingering annoyance dissolved as I reread the note for what felt like the hundredth time. He had actually given me his number!
For the rest of my shift, a small, content smile adorned my face as the thought of going out with Hongjoong occupied the forefront of my mind. The anticipation and excitement lingered, making me feel content and happy for the remaining hours of my day.
Once nestled in the cosy embrace of my home, I sank into the sofa, the note clutched in one hand and my phone in the other. With a sense of excitement, I scanned the words again, feeling like a teenager in love with their crush. As I entered his number, I changed the contact name to his, savouring the small moment of victory.
Now, faced with the task of responding, a nervous energy settled in. Why had I suddenly become so jittery? He had asked me out; the least I could do was send the first text. Inflating my cheeks with air, I hovered my finger over the text and call buttons beneath his contact.
Should I call him? Would he even be awake at this hour? It's only eight PM; he should be, right? Thoughts and insecurities waltzed in my head, and with a deep breath, I pressed the call button before chickening out.
My phone rang, each ring feeling like an eternity until a warm voice answered, "Hello, Kim Hongjoong speaking. How can I help you?" The politeness in his tone elicited a small, involuntary chuckle from me. "Hey, Hongjoong. It's Y/N," I began, settling into the cosy position in my favourite spot on my sofa, drawing my legs to my chest. "Oh, Y/N! Good evening," he responded, and the slight sound of excitement in his voice sent a delightful shiver through my stomach.
"I called about your note." "Ah, yes. About that. I completely understand if you don't want to," he expressed, a subtle insecurity seeping into his words. "No! Wait, no, not that. I would love to go out with you." I said quickly before he could feel like I did not want to go out with him.
A sigh of relief and a soft laugh echoed on the other end of the phone, and the warmth of his response wrapped around me like a comfortable blanket. "I'm glad. What restaurant did you have in mind?" His question, laced with anticipation, stirred a slight flush in my cheeks. His genuine eagerness to make plans mirrored my own excitement, prompting a soft giggle to escape from me.
"Do you know that cute Italian place near our café?" I asked, curiosity lacing my words. "Ah, yes, I do. Yunho, one of my friends, recently went there with his girlfriend. He went hours on about how delicious the food was." As he spoke, I could hear the faint sounds of him jotting things down, our conversation taking on a more casual and comfortable tone. He shared details of his friend's experience and the amount of dishes they had ordered. Our conversation soon turned into us talking about our favourite foods and what we would love to try in the future.
After about ten delightful minutes, he coughed slightly. "My, we really got off track," he chuckled, and I joined in. "I suppose... I didn't mind, though. You're very interesting, Kim Hongjoong." He released a breathy laugh. "Thank you. You're very interesting yourself. I have a feeling going out with you will be quite an adventure." His words left me blushing. God, he knows just what to say.
"Send me your address; I'll pick you up that day around six?" I hummed in agreement before responding, "That would be lovely. I can't wait." "Me neither. I'll see you then." After bidding our farewells, the moment he hung up, I grabbed the nearest pillow and let out a joyful scream. Making a mental note to share every detail with Seonghwa once I calmed down, I couldn't help but bask in the excitement of the upcoming date.
The much-anticipated day of the date had finally arrived, and I found myself pacing around my house in a frenzy, frantically searching for the perfect outfit, experimenting with various hairstyles and makeup looks. I was practically a ball of stress. Seonghwa, who joined me on FaceTime, couldn't help but laugh at my suffering as I showcased numerous outfit choices.
"Y/N, calm down. He literally met you in your work attire. Any one of those outfits will blow him away. I'm sure of it," Seonghwa reassured me, his words acting as a soothing balm to my nerves. I nodded appreciatively. "Thanks, Hwa. But seriously now. Black or white?" Seonghwa snickered and pointed at the black dress. I hurried into my bathroom, leaving Seonghwa on FaceTime in my room.
After a few minutes, I emerged, donned in a beautiful black dress that hugged my curves just right. "Perfect! He is so going to fall to his knees for you!" Seonghwa playfully exclaimed, his words and jests working their magic to boost my confidence, making me laugh at his attempts to ease my pre-date jitters.
I settled into my desk chair, bringing my phone along to continue chatting with Seonghwa while I worked on my hair and makeup until I was satisfied. Once I completed my beauty routine, I checked the time, realizing it was only twenty minutes away from six. "Oh my god, Hwa! I'll call you after I'm back. It's almost six!"
"Yeah, yeah. If you don't end up spending the night with him, you mean," Seonghwa teased, giving me a playful smirk before laughing and hanging up. “That sneaky... teasing son of a bitch.” I sighed as I tried to shake off the thought, grabbing my handbag and stuffing it with everything I might need for the evening. The anticipation of the upcoming date filled the air, and a mix of excitement and nerves danced in my stomach as I prepared myself mentally.
A few minutes later, the sound of my doorbell echoed through the house, prompting me to hasten a final check in the mirror to ensure I looked just right. Satisfied with my appearance, I made my way to the door, anticipation fluttering in my chest, and swung it open.
There he stood, clad in beige dress trousers paired with a loosely fitted dress shirt and a stylish dark brown vest. His glasses added a touch of intellectual charm, completing the ensemble that made him look like a smart and beautiful book lover. I found myself captivated, as we just stared at each other. And for how long, I couldn't tell, caught in a moment of silent admiration.
"You look... beautiful," he chuckled, breaking the silence. "Thank you. You look very handsome yourself." I replied with a shy smile, accepting his hand as he extended it towards me. He guided me out of my home, even going the extra mile to lock the door behind us.
As we strolled towards his car, he opened the passenger door for me, allowing me to step in. "Such a gentleman," I giggled appreciatively as he closed the door and circled around to settle into the driver's seat.
"Here's my phone. I'll unlock it for you so you can play some music. GPS is already running for the restaurant," he said, handing me his phone before securing his seatbelt. I accepted the device, a bit surprised at the sudden trust vested in me with such a personal belonging. Scrolling through Spotify, I decided to press play on one of his playlists.
The drive to the restaurant unfolded with light talk about our day and other casual topics. Fortunately, the restaurant wasn't far, just a few minutes away.
As he parked, he instructed me to stay put. Retrieving his wallet, he opened the door for me once again. A flustered smile graced my cheeks as I linked my arm with his. He closed the car door and locked it before walking alongside me towards the restaurant.
Once we stepped into the restaurant, the atmosphere embraced us with undeniable romance. The soft melodies, the flicker of candlelight, and the tantalizing aroma of delectable cuisine – they weren't kidding when they said this place was perfect for lovers. Hongjoong wore a proud smirk as the server led us to a window seat, where the table was adorned with the same intimate candlelight and a breathtaking bouquet of red roses.
"Oh, Hongjoong. You shouldn't have," I awed at the flowers. Taking our seats, I delicately cradled the bouquet in my hands. The sweet fragrance of the flowers enveloped my senses as I buried my nose in one of the rose petals, closing my eyes to savour the scent. The subtle click of a camera captured the moment, prompting my eyes to shoot open.
"Sorry, I couldn't resist. You looked so beautiful," Hongjoong confessed shyly, showing me the captured image. It was undeniably beautiful. "Don't apologize. It's cute. Thank you so much for the flowers." I offered him a comforting smile, reaching across the table to gently clasp his hand.
"I figured, why not go all out? I haven't been on a date in years, and you've truly become something to look forward to in my daily routine. So, I just had to at least try and impress you," he said with newfound confidence, interlocking his fingers with mine. His words painted my cheeks with a soft, rosy hue.
"You have no clue how long I've wanted to go out with you." It was my turn to confess, causing Hongjoong's eyes to widen for a second. "Oh? Y/N… I don't bite. You should've just asked me for my number. I would have given it to you in a heartbeat." He chuckled lightly, squeezing my hand. "You have no idea…" I replied with a bright smile, the evening unfolded nicely as we shared small talk once more.
A comfortable atmosphere enveloped us as we delved into conversations spanning from childhood hobbies to our first job experiences and beyond. It felt as if I had known him for years. Eventually, the waiter arrived to take our orders, and Hongjoong, with a charming smile, inquired about my preference for wine, to which I responded with an enthusiastic "Yes, of course." So, he ordered a bottle of fine wine to complement our dinner.
As the evening unfolded, our food arrived, but our conversation continued to flow effortlessly. By the end of the night, I realized that I had reached a level of connection with Hongjoong that had taken three years to achieve with Seonghwa, in comparison to just one evening. We clicked like two perfectly matched puzzle pieces, like two peas in a pod, making this date even more enjoyable and leaving me with a sense of newfound connection and warmth.
"The stars are beautiful tonight," I smiled, leaning my head against Hongjoong's shoulder. After our dinner, we decided to take a small walk, not ready to part ways just yet. "A star can't compare to your beauty," he complimented, giving me a comfortable smile that made me laugh just slightly. "That was so cheesy!" I continued to laugh, holding onto his arm, and he looked at me with a small pout.
"I'm kidding! It was cute. Cheesy, but cute." His smile returned as he gazed into my eyes. Standing alone beneath the moonlight, we looked at each other as we had so many times before, yet this time felt different.
I noticed his eyes flicker to my lips a few times, making me mirror his actions. "Ugh, I'm sorry, but... Can I… Can I kiss you?" Hongjoong asked nervously, almost a whisper. A short silence took over us."Why didn't you ask earlier... I would have given it to you in a heartbeat," I whispered, quoting his words from just a few hours before. His smile widened as he gently brushed a few strands of my loose hair behind my ear.
His hand gently cradled my cheeks as he leaned in, bringing our foreheads together. A smile adorned his lips as our lips finally met. The kiss was a symphony of sweetness, softness, and an overwhelming sense of love. It felt as if we had poured all our emotions into that one, transformative kiss—a kiss that altered the course of our lives, forever.
From a diligent coffee enthusiast and a dedicated barista, they transformed into two souls deeply in love. A promise to love forever.
The end.

Kim Hongjoong : You And Her (Part 2/2)
Pairing : Kim Hongjoong (Ateez) and named character (Lee Hana)
________________________
Hana stared at hongjoong whose head was now rested against her chest, his upper body covered by the blanket and his arm wrapped around hana's waist. His face was still red, his eyes puffy from all the crying. And yet he looked so beautiful to hana, she wondered whether he thought the same about her now.
Hongjoong : hana?
Hana : yes sweetheart?
Hongjoong : I love you.
Hana looked at hongjoong as he snuggled closer to her, his arms around her tightening as he mumbled in a sleepy voice
Hongjoong : I love you so much, as much as the sky. And as much as I love our daughter, if not even more. You're the most beautiful person on Earth for me, you always will be.
And just like that hongjoong fell asleep, tears in hana's eyes as she leaned forward and kissed hongjoong's forehead before whispering
Hana : I love you too.
______________________
Hongjoong woke up the next day, feeling numb and drained out. Last night's memories came crashing down on him as he recalled the way he had cried in hana's arms when it was his fault they fought in the first place, pathetic.
Hongjoong quickly got off the bed as he dressed up for work, hoping hana would be in hannie's nursery and wouldn't see him running out. But just as hongjoong walked down the stairs he saw hana playing around with hannie who seemed to be wide awake so early, small gurgles and giggles filling the living room. His two favorite girls, his entire world. And he couldn't even face them.
Hongjoong was about to sneak out when a voice interrupted him suddenly
Hana : you're awake so early?
Hongjoong pressed his lips together as he turned around to face hana, who picked up hannie before walking to him as she asked
Hana : don't you want breakfast?
Hongjoong : uh, no.
Hana : why? The maids have made good food-
Hongjoong : I'm not hungry, and I have work to do at the office. I'll…see you in the evening, bye.
Hongjoong quickly walked past hana and out the house as he shut the main door behind him, hana letting out a sigh as she booped hannie's nose before whispering
Hana : your father is just like you, so stubborn.
_________________________
Hongjoong was in between a serious meeting when his phone rang, making the presenter pause on her meeting as hongjoong excused himself before stepping out the room and taking up the call in hurry
Hongjoong : I'm in an important meeting right now-
Hana : this is more important. My parents are coming, within an hour. I need you here.
Hongjoong blinked his eyes, looking back at the meeting room as he realized everyone else was waiting for their director making hongjoong sigh as he said
Hongjoong : can they not come, like…maybe 3 hours later?
Hana : hongjoong, you know how my parents are.
Hongjoong let out a breath, opening the door to the meeting room as he said
Hongjoong : 30 minutes.
Hongjoong cut the call as he sat back down on the director's chair, motioning towards the presenter before saying
Hongjoong : cut to the important part, please.
_______________________
Hongjoong panted as he opened the main door hurriedly, pausing on his tracks as he saw sona and yejun already seated in the living room sofa, hana and hannie sitting opposite them. All of them were looking at him, hana having an angry expression on her face as hongjoong let out a breath, closing the door behind him as his mother-in-law said
Sona : back from the very important meeting, hongjoong-shi?
Hongjoong bowed at his in-laws before saying
Hongjoong : there was traffic, sorry mrs lee.
Sona : you do realize you hold that position of director only because you married my daughter, right? And you also realize you have this much power only because hana stepped down as CEO in order to look after hannie, right?
Hongjoong pressed his lips together, sona never forgot to mention that. How lowly ranked hongjoong was compared to her daughter, his wife.
Hana : eomma-
Hongjoong : yes, of course I do realize all that. This will not happen again, I am sorry.
Hana stared at hongjoong as he sat beside her, hannie making grabby hands at hongjoong as he smiled and brought his hands forward to hold her.
Yejun : don't touch her, you haven't washed your hands yet. She could contact diseases from you.
Hongjoong's smile dropped as he took his hands away, hannie having a confused expression on her face as hana said angrily
Hana : he is her father, appa, I'm sure he knows better than you.
Yejun : what did you just-
Hongjoong : no you're right, I was being careless. I'll make sure I wash my hands before touching her from now.
Hana let out a scoff as she looked away, hannie now playing with her hair instead as sona said
Sona : I see the child's gotten hana's features more, thank god for that. I even went to the temple to pray that she'd get the better genes, it has worked.
Hana : eomma!
Hongjoong smiled, not showing an ounce of any other expression on his face as he said
Hongjoong : I am glad hannie's gotten her mother's features and not mine as well. She is much more beautiful.
Hana looked at hongjoong with hurt eyes as he stood up and asked
Hongjoong : what would you like for dinner, then?
______________________
"I still don't get how boss is dating…him? And she's even made him the director now, I can't believe I've to take orders from someone like him"
"I heard they're fighting? Finally, she'll prolly get a divorce from him soon. I'm sure she's had enough of pretending now that she has an heir"
"Apparently he caused the death of his parents. He caused some trouble at school and his parents were called to the principal's office for expulsion. His dad was really angry, drove the car too recklessly and got into an accident. Let's hope he leaves before he causes something like that to the boss as well"
After having heard all of this at office today whatever hana's parents were telling him seemed to make no difference to hongjoong anymore. He heard things like this everyday, hana just had no idea about it. Hongjoong thought it would be better if she had no idea about it too.
His in-laws had left an hour ago and hongjoong had told hana he would put hannie to sleep tonight. She was finally asleep and hongjoong was trying to find hana, finding her at the balcony a few minutes later.
Hongjoong : hana?
Hana turned around at that, hongjoong giving her a small smile as he stepped into the balcony before asking in a low voice
Hongjoong : is it not cold?
Hana : are you cold?
Hana knew hongjoong hated the cold, and she could see his cheeks already growing red from the winter cold. But hongjoong shook his head with a smile, walking towards the railing as he said
Hongjoong : I uh, I wanted to ask you something.
Hana : go ahead.
Hongjoong : do you mind coming back to office again, being the director? I'll stay at home and take care of hannie, no?
Hana frowned, hongjoong had never said things like this before. He loved working, it was one of the things hana loved about him, how passionate he was about their company.
Hana : did someone say something to you?
Hongjoong : no of course not! It's just…I think you would do the work much better.
Hana : hongjoong, the company's stocks have gone up by 10 percent within the last month of you taking complete control over it's proceedings. And you think I do it better?
Hongjoong looked away, clenching his hand against the railing as he whispered, his voice desperate
Hongjoong : I don't…I don't want to do this anymore, please hana.
Something had happened, hana was sure of it. She could sense the despair in his eyes, it was droopy and did not dare look at her. Hana held hongjoong's hand as he flinched back, making hana pause. He never flinched away from her.
Hana : hongjoong? Something's wrong. What is it? Is it what my parents said?
Hongjoong bit his lip, looking at hana as he tried his best not to cry before saying in an unsteady voice
Hongjoong : no, no that's not it. Hana, there is nothing wrong. I just want you to go back, you are the rightful director of that company, it is your company-
Hana : our company. All that is mine is yours as well, hongjoong. I said that 3 years ago, didn't I?
Hongjoong : you said that back when I was a good husband to you, not anymore, right?
Hana : hongjoong.
Hongjoong : I don't want to go there anymore, I'll look after hannie and run the coffee shop again, full-time. Can I not do that?
Hana : hongjoong you used to love working at the company. What's changed, hmm? Do you not like the assistant? Or the executives? I can change them-
Hongjoong : why not just change me instead? It's the easier way hana.
Hana : hongjoong I love you, you are my husband why would I change you?
Hongjoong : you do not love me anymore.
Hana scoffed, staring at hongjoong who was now playing with his hands, something he did when he was nervous or sad.
Hana : is that what you think?
Hongjoong : it's…I-I just-
Hana : if I didn't love you anymore wouldn't I have just left you, hongjoong? You know I am capable enough to do that, so then why would I stay here still?
Hongjoong : I don't know.
Hana could now see hongjoong's lips trembling, her eyes softening she stepped closer to hongjoong before whispering
Hana : hongjoong-ah, won't you tell me what's wrong? Please?
Hongjoong shook his head, his hand clenched against his own as hana slowly took them in hers before saying
Hana : hongjoong, I love you. I love you still, I always will. Why would you think there would be a day on this planet where I wouldn't love you.
Hongjoong finally lifted his head to look at hana, his cheeks now damp with tears as he said in a broken voice
Hongjoong : everyone hates me there, hana. Not just there but ev-everywhere. Your parents hate me, the workers at the company hates me. I just wanted everyone to at least like me in the beginning, I wanted to know how it would feel like to have parents, even if they weren't my own blood. But I didn't get any of that. And even through all of that I lived because I thought I would have you, at least. I thought I'd get to be with you at the end of the day, in your arms. You would believe in me, you would love me, that was enough. But now…now I've lost that too, I've lost you too-
Hana cut hongjoong off as she engulfed him in a hug, hongjoong's face scrunching up as he whispered
Hongjoong : what if this is a dream too? What if-
Hongjoong cut himself off as hana pulled back, quickly shutting him up with a kiss as a lone tear fell past hongjoong's eyes. She pulled back a few seconds later, holding hongjoong's cheek as she said
Hana : this isn't a dream, and you haven't lost me hongjoong. Every couple on Earth has fights, everyone. That doesn't mean we just break it all off and go, okay? I still love you, even if the entire world doesn't I still love you.
Hongjoong : you shouldn't. I have failed you, hana, as a husband. I've been too busy being a father I forgot to take care of the woman that gave me the title of being a father in the first place. I just…I didn't mean anything I said. I think you're the most hard-working woman I've met, someone who's never let anything come between what you do best. Someone who's only ever protected her family. You're too good at this that sometimes…I sometimes think maybe you're too-too good for me.
Hana : don't say that.
Hongjoong : you've told me countless times that you loved me and I still can't get myself to understand why you could love someone like me. And now I've proven you right by being a bastard.
Hana : hongjoong, shut up. That is not true, I loved you because you were you, I married you because I wanted you to be the only person I loved, and I had a child with you because I want my daughter to have the best father in the world. You haven't failed anyone, not yet.
Hongjoong looked at hana, tears in his eyes as she smiled and wiped it away before whispering
Hana : we can try again, fresh and new. If the coffee shop is where you want to work now, then so be it. I will take care of those workers in the company. And if you want to go back to the company, then we can do that too. Whatever you want, I'll make that happen for you, hmm?
Hongjoong : what about you?
Hana : as long as I have you and hannie, my life is already complete.
Hongjoong sniffled, wrapping his arms around hana's waist as he pulled her close before whispering
Hongjoong : my life has been complete since the moment I saw you, lee hana.
Hana chuckled, kissing hongjoong's neck as she said
Hana : well, that too.
Hongjoong : I'm sorry for everything I said, hana, I really mean it.
Hana : I know love, it's okay.
Hongjoong breathed deeply, closing his eyes as he felt his wife's warmth around him once again. He had missed this, and now he was going to do anything to make sure she got everything in the world. Hana had taken care of him long enough, he couldn't be weak anymore.
Hana : uh by the way, joong, do you perhaps know the names of those workers who uttered a word against you?

AWW YES U ATE THE WHOLE GLOBEE😘
𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝟐 𝟏
He pulls up at the house getting out and walks into the house immediately getting hit with the smell of weed and alcohol. He asks around for you, eventually finding one of your friends that walked out to get you a drink and asks if they have seen you. “Ay you seen my girl?” Your friend mean mugs him looking him and up and down “wouldn’t you like to know.” She rolls her eyes. “Bro were she at. For a shoot this shit up no bs.” She grabs her drink and waves her hand for him to follow her to the room where everyone is at. As they walk in your eyes immediately dart to the door you see him walk in and roll your eyes your irritation immediately surfacing. You ignore him as he walks over to you sitting in the love seat next to you. “Why you just leave like that?” You continue to ignore him. “Ma come on now you doing too much.” You look at him offended then stand walking over to your friends and telling them you about to leave. As you walk out he follows you trying to get your attention all the way to the car. He grabs your arm and turns you around. “What’s the problem ma?” “What’s the problem are you serious? You don’t remember? So you telling me you don’t remeber calling me dramatic for being mad at you for hugging up on another bitch?” You look at him genuinely confused on how he’s acting. “I told you she was a friend.” “Nah then why she come up to you when I wasn’t there? Y’all mad weird.” “It wasn’t like that ma. I put that on my momma .” “On yo momma? I pray that nice lady don’t get struck down by god. Because you playing on her name like this.” He throws his head back rolling his eyes and dragging his hands down his face. “What do I have to do to prove it to you. I swear imma do anything.” “Call that bitch.” You cross your arms and lean against your car. “What?” “Nigga I said call her!! You been pissing me off way too much.” “Aight.” He pulls out his phone and calls her number. “You have her number?!?! I should fuck your up right now. I should beat yo ass for real.” The girl picks up the phone and starts asking him what he’s doing but you snatch the phone out his hands and put it on speaker phone. “Hello? Why was you huggin on my nigga at the mall?” She talks back confused. “What?” “Girl you heard what I said.” “Yo ma chill out.” “Girl I just know him from high school don’t nobody want to nigga.” She laughs. “Nah I don’t know you so it don’t matter where you know him from. I catch you huggin on him again that’s yo life.” You hang up the phone and shove it into his chest. “I catch you hugging up on another female like that and I ain’t me, yo mama or yo grandma. You gon lose yo life too. I’m so dead ass.” “You got it. I ain’t know it was that serious.” You roll your eyes “obviously it was if I ignored you that long.” He grabs your waist and holds you tight. “You still got an attitude.” “Hell yeah I’m pissed as hell.” “What can I do to make it up to you.” “I don’t know but figure it out.” He kisses your cheek then opens your door letting you get in. “Imma check on you tomorrow. Aight ma?” “Ok. Don’t come empty handed.”
The next day he knock on your door early in the morning, you come to the door in a silk pink robe and your matching bonnet still on. You see him there with a big bouquet of 100 roses in one hand and a bunch of designer bags in his other hand. “Can I come in?” You look him and and down then step aside letting him in. “Take yo shoes off.” You say walking towards your kitchen island and sitting in one of the chairs as he takes his shoes off and sets all of your gifts on the table. “So is this your apology?” You gesture to all the things. “Kind of. These is still some of their shit and I ordered you breakfast it should be here soon. You nod your head and stand up grabbing the Goyard bag and looking inside taking the box out and opening it seeing a large pink tote bag. You look at him surprised by him remembering. “Are you for real?” “Hell yeah.” He smiles at you then looks you up and down. “This bag is like 3000. You remembered?” “I always remember.” “Mhm.”

so you look up and he's just looking at you with the softest eyes
like he's honestly just staring at you with heart eyes
and you just kiss him softly and he snaps out of it
giving you a dimpled smile before kissing you

“Oh! What a peculiar name! Tell me, Y/N, what is it that you want to ask me?”
"Why do you treat me differently? What makes you... like me?"
The King's naturally red cheeks reddened even more.
"I-I don't know. I like your attitude. You're fearless... And beautiful. You don't have a frog face or cat ears, you look like me naturally." The King explained, keeping eye contact with the pink pea-looking vegetables on his plate.
One of the frogmen in the room scowled at the slight insult but kept on working nevertheless.
"So if I had rabbit ears you wouldn't like me?"
The King looked up from his plate, with a panicked face.
"No, no! That's not what-"
He was cut off by your incessant giggling. You rested your hand on his forearm.
"I was joking, it was a joke."
The King relaxed and sat back.
"A joke? Hm, are all 'jokes' like this?"
You tilted your head in confusion, as you played with whatever was on your plate with your gilded fork.
"What do you mean?"
"I don't think I've heard of these jokes you speak of..."
"Seonghwa, are you serious? How have you never heard of jokes in your life?"
"My life has been rather monotone. Nothing but the teachings about royal life and proper manners. My parents, the old King and Queen, were separated, they didn't even live in the same castle, but the people never heard of this, of course. The King said the Queen had to be moved across the country to rule a part of the land that was in quite a ruckus, a place he couldn't easily reach. They decided to split their children so neither of them would be alone, and Mirana got lucky. The King chose her over me and I was left with my mother. I was about 4 or 5. I never left the castle because my mom didn't want me parading around with the filthy commoners, that much she did right, but it was a life filled with torture and lessons about a future that didn't belong to me. When the time came to pass on the crown the King said Mirana would be the heir to the throne even though I was the oldest of the two, because she had been the one taught by the King, not me. I was wrathful. That just meant I had spent my whole life suffering and preparing for nothing. I had just wasted away my best years. One night I snuck into the castle and killed my sister and the King, with no remorse. It was a bloodbath, but the Knights couldn't do anything, with my sister and dad both dead it meant I was the heir to the throne. But no one respected me. The people were mad I had killed 'their dear Queen'," The King mimicked the people's words with a mocking voice "they never did as I said, so I forced them to listen to me. I'm sure you've heard, or at least noticed, but I hired a witch to cast a spell on them, and then hid her somewhere where magic doesn't work. So yes, I am serious. Any happiness I might've had washed away in the early years of my life, and I can't remember any of it."
You listened attentively to the King's sad story, and you actually felt bad and revolted on the inside. The man refused to look in your direction, out of embarrassment, perhaps. You moved your chair a little closer to his and slowly placed your palm on the cheek slightly hidden by his long fringe. He immediately jumped back and held the same cheek, looking frightened.
"I-I'm sorry... That was unexpected." He said, recomposing himself while holding the cheek you held for a brief second.
"That was on me, I shouldn't have just touched you like that."
"It's fine I... I liked it. It's just that the fringe..." He stopped for a second, and you could tell he was hesitant.
You very slowly and lightly placed your hand on his thigh.
"It's okay." You assured him.
The King took a deep, shaky breath and stared into your curious, slightly frightened eyes. You didn't know what to expect, but as you looked into his dark and docile eyes you thought that maybe, maybe there was more to this man than just a heartless tyrant.
Seonghwa slowly lifted his fringe, revealing a completely white eye, and 3 huge scars, who looked as old as Seonghwa, however, they'd certainly never heal.
"Oh no, what happened to you?"
You refrained from touching his face, as you didn't want to make him uncomfortable, but you certainly wanted to.
"Punishment. I ate too many tarts one day and my mom was furious. She said I'd become an 'ugly, fat little boy', and as a way to discipline me for that, she locked me in a cage with the Bandersnatch. I ran away as fast as I could but of course, it caught up to me. Had it not been for the guards I would've been in a far worse state... I'm glad they pitied me enough to save me."
"What is a Badnerstatch?"
The King smiled slightly at the mispronunciation of the beast's name. He grabbed your hand lightly and stood up, making you follow along. He stood beside one of the big windows in the room and pulled the heavy, black, and red curtain out of the way. He slowly placed his arm around your waist and pulled you closer, as he pointed at a particular spot in his garden.
"Do you see that big thing on the cage? That is the Bandersnatch."
You widened your eyes and looked at the King. The gray furred beast looked huge even from that distance! It looked like a mix between a bear and a dog, and its back was weirdly curved. You could clearly see his sharp rows of teeth and when he growled, you fall back into the King's chest.
"She locked you up with that!? She's mad!"
"She was mad indeed..."
The man grabbed your waist gently and turned you around.
"Y/N, I have a kingdom, I have a castle, I have everything I could ever ask for. Everything but a Queen."
His breathing was steady but you could tell he was uncertain about what he was saying. Not because he thought he didn't need a Queen, but because he thought he was undeserving of anyone's love.
"Seonghwa, you're asking too much of me... I want to go home, I need to go home. I have a life somewhere else, I'm not from here and I don't belong here..."
The King tilted his head, furrowed his eyebrows, and opened his mouth for a second, before closing it again. He was hesitating once more.
"Y/N, I don't know how to tell you this... But you can't leave Wonderland."
Your face instantly scrunched up and you pushed him away harshly.
"What!? Are you going to force me to be here!?"
The King looked offended by the accusation and gripped your arm tightly, pulling you closer to him once more.
"Would you listen to me!? You can't physically leave Wonderland. You can't go back. The Wonderland is the wasteland of every other lands. You're here forever."

requested : yes! thank you 💕 word count : 1.8k
You decided to have a late start this morning with Hongjoong, but you thought that you deserved it. It was finally resting time for both of you and, let’s be honest, you were drained of any energy that you had left. You had just graduated college and Hongjoong, well, he was still going on strong with his group as an idol, and their last win made them achieve two good weeks of rest.
As the world was by your side, the next two weeks promised to be good: constant good weather, with some heat waves here and there, but you foresaw everything: you had asked your aunt if, while they were spending their holidays abroad, you could come over with Hongjoong since they had a pool. They agreed and here you were, in the large house of your aunt with a swimming pool. You were excited to spend the next few days with him, finally resting and spending time together.
Your day started with a brunch on the patio, Hongjoong installing a big umbrella so you can enjoy your fresh food without being too hot by the already warm sun. “Thank you for the amazing food, baby, it smells wonderful,” he said as he sat down on a metallic chair, dragging it on the wooden floor closer to the table in a loud noise. He stopped immediately, noticing how loud he was and you burst into a laugh at the face he was making. “It’s alright honey,” you said as you poke the yolk of your fried egg, the golden liquid slowly dripping off onto your toast. While enjoying your meal, you caught up with your boyfriend by telling each other stories of what happened in your respective worlds. It was such a nice, relaxing feeling to have him by your side, no one was stressed about a schedule or a lecture that was about to begin, you were carefree and you haven’t felt like that since you could ever remember.
Once you were both done with eating, you grabbed his plate and stood up, filling up the dishwasher with other items of tablewares before starting it. Hongjoong cleaned the table and the rest of the kitchen before going back outside. A small breeze tagged along to start your day. You changed into a sheer top and a pair of shorts before laying on a deckchair, a fairly new book in hand. The rays of sunshine caressed your body as well as the wind, who was contrasting with the warmth of the sun to keep you at a rather enjoyable body temperature. Hongjoong picked up another deckchair and placed it next to you, kissing your cheek before lying down as well. He let out a sigh of ease once his head rested on the plastic material and closed his eyes, enjoying the sun as much as you did. While holding your book in one hand, the other caressed back and forth your lover’s arm, who was casually carrying on his night. Your affection lulled him to sleep and, in his slumber, he stopped your hand to grab it and link his with yours. You turned your head to the side to look at him and sent him a flying kiss, to which he answered by shooting you a wink.
You didn’t even realise that you had fallen asleep on your lounge chair, your book carelessly tossed on the floor as your arm dangled above it. Hongjoong was nowhere to be seen so you sat up, only to find him swimming around the pool. He welcomed you with a smile when he noticed that you were up, sinking his entire body underwater for a few seconds, only to push back his hair correctly.
“You should come in babe, it’s good,” he said as he rubbed the chlorine water off his eyes, shielding his eyes from the sun to look at you. Your boyfriend took in the view of you taking off your clothes and made your way to the swimming pool, his eyes never leaving your body. “You are gorgeous honey,” he said in a breath as you sunk your feet in the water, smiling at his compliment. It was quite cold but refreshing, the sun beating down was becoming quite unbearable. “You better not splash me,” you warned as he was looking at you with a smirk, hands doing whatever underwater. You couldn’t see what he was about to do, but you could tell that it was something quite foolish. “I’m not doing anything,” he lifted his hands in surrender, only to make them collide with the water seconds later, splashing you entirely. You yelped but laughed, the droplets of chlorine landing in your mouth making you grimace, but you started splashing him as well.
Now that you were completely soaked from head to toe, you started having a lot of fun with your boyfriend; you played volleyball for the major part of the afternoon, being completely careless about the rules and the points, having a lot of fun instead. When you both started to feel tired, Hongjoong tossed the ball on the patio and swam towards you, scooping you in his arms. You wrapped your limbs around your boyfriend and sweetly kissed his cheek, the taste of the pool water lingering on your tongue. He rested your back against the pool wall and you laid your head on his collarbone, enjoying the calm proximity and the water slowly rocked your bodies together. Your boyfriend kissed your cheekbone and hugged you tightly against him, his arms under your thighs as he placed innocent kisses on your exposed skin.
Although you were both barely dressed, it didn’t prevent the two of you to act cute and sweet. That’s actually what you needed; some peace. You didn’t need spicier activities for later, (you agreed on keeping that for the evening, not being particularly in the mood for that right now) enjoying each other’s company instead of being at it all the time, unlike some other couples that you knew. There was nothing wrong to act like that, it was just that now, you needed to rest together. “I love you,” you mumbled against his shoulder warmed by the sun, closing your eyes as the sunset wasn’t so far. “I love you too Y/N, I really do. I’m glad we get to spend a few days together without anyone else.” You could hear in his voice that he was smiling at your sudden confession, kissing your temple as you held him tighter.
After a few more moments in each other’s arms, you were starting to get cold in the water, so you decided to get out and call it a day. Walking to the bathroom, you showered as you tried to think of a good place to go get dinner. Once you were done washing the chemicals off your body, you got out of the steamy bathroom, one towel wrapped around your body and another in your hair.
“So baby, any ideas for tonight’s dinner plan?” Hongjoong asked as he was about to take your place in the bathroom. “I think my aunt recommended me a place, should we give it a try?”
The food at the Japanese restaurant over there was excellent, you were having a nice time with your boyfriend. The place was quite fancy so you had to dress up, and it was really worth the price. Once you were both done eating and paid the bill, you got out of the restaurant and immediately landed on the beach. You both took off your shoes and walked side by side, pinkies intertwined as you observed the surfers riding the last waves of the day. You closed your eyes and breathed deeply, letting the sea air and the warm sand engulfing you in a comforting embrace. The sound of the waves crashing had the effect of a tranquilliser on your body, it seemed like all your worries and anxiety had disappeared in a matter of seconds.
“Look Y/N, the sun is about to set, it’s beautiful,” you opened your eyes again and observed the scenery in front of you, Hongjoong getting his phone out to capture this precious moment. You smile as your boyfriend searches for the perfect angle and brightness for his photo. You giggled at his behaviour and turned his phone, seizing the moment to get a candid cliché of your laughing. You immediately stopped and tried to steal his phone to delete the picture, but he hid his phone in his back pocket and swiftly took both of your hands to stop you in your tracks. “Show me this picture, Joong,” your boyfriend shook his head with a pout on his face, which quickly changed into a smirk. “I won’t let you delete this picture,” he mumbled and you playfully frowned, trying to get out of his grip to steal his phone. “At least, show me?” you suggested and he shook his head again, placing himself behind you, wrapping his arms around your waist and pressing his cheek against yours as you observed the sunset. “No, those are for my eyes only,” he mumbled and you sighed, a pout forming on your face, turning your head to look at him with puppy eyes. “This won’t work on me darling,” he smirked as you stomped your foot in the sand, your action almost didn’t reach your boyfriend’s ears. He pressed his lips against yours, the sensation feeling so great in your body that you instantly closed your eyes, your childish fight about the picture long forgotten. Wrapping your arms around his neck, he brings you closer to him, arms holding you tight against him as you both drowned into the love you had for each other.
You ended the kiss breathless, Hongjoong’s eyes getting lost in your two orbits, a blissful smile drawn on his face as he cupped your cheeks. You looked absolutely wonderful with the last rays of sunshine hitting your face, your hair getting messy and wavy thanks to the sea wind that started blowing a few minutes ago.
“My angel,” he said out of the blue and you chuckled, shyly looking away at the pet name. “My love,” you answered and he took your hand before bending down your shoes that you had dropped during your lovely kiss, “let’s go home, it’s getting late.” “Can we get dessert before going home?” you asked and he turned his head, questioningly looking at you. “What kind?” “I don’t know… a crêpe, some ice cream?” you suggested and he nodded, walking you to the end of the beach. “Sounds great to me. Let’s go,” he held your hand while you wiped the sand off your feet to put on your shoes again before happily walking to the creperie that happened to be a few meters away from the restaurant you just visited.

Puppies Don’t Fly
Yunho x Pup Hybrid!Reader
Word Count: 2.6k
Genre: Like a bit of angst but then fluff, and Yunho teasing you whatever that counts as.
Note: Happy Birthday @berrynx you cute lil bean!! Mayhaps I was gathering ideas when I asked you about soft things but I hope you like it and I’m sorry Yunho took on a mind of his own and wanted to tease you, but then again, you’re used to that right hehe
Yunho’s house was much bigger and much nicer than anywhere you’d been before. The place you’d grown up in was small and with so many of you there it was unsurprising that as soon as you could you struck out on your own.
And quickly learned that work wasn’t for you.
It wasn’t your fault you were so playful and easily distracted. But it didn’t bode well for the places that would hire you. You found it difficult and after bouncing around for a bit you ended up at one of the hybrid shelters. It was nice enough and a much easier way to find a family to live with, plus in the meantime the other hybrids had been nice to you and you’d made good friends.
But then Yunho came along. He was sweet and kind and you were pretty sure you decided you wanted him to be your family before he did. You’d focused all your attention on him the day of the visit and it paid off when he came back a few days later to get you.
There were a lot of unexpected things about Yunho. He was just as nice as when you met him and he was just as cuddly as you’d hoped, petting you and scratching your head any time he was relaxing with you. You warmed up to him very quickly and he let out the cutest giggles whenever you covered his face in kisses and snuggled with him as you both fell asleep.
But some things about him were initially mysterious. There were areas of the house you weren’t supposed to go into and a few items you weren’t allowed to touch. You did your best to leave them alone. He must have his reasons, even if they were tempting to play with. He didn’t exactly tell you what they were, just that they were old and fragile.
Yunho seemed like some sort of enigma to you. He was kind and seemed very open. Yet, he wouldn’t go into detail just yet about the rooms you were supposed to stay out of. He did say he would tell you eventually, but that things in those rooms just weren’t ready yet. Still, he trusted you enough to leave you home alone when he needed to run out and do errands.
Though, maybe he overestimated your self control.
Here you were, after being told not to go down this hallway, that it wasn’t ready yet, but the door had been left cracked open. The house was old, so it was very possible the door just didn’t stay latched properly, but your curious mind thought it could be a sign. You snuck down the hall quietly despite the fact that Yunho wasn’t home.
You weren’t sure what he would do if he caught you. So far, he hadn’t gotten mad or even frustrated with you. You got along well and even though you hadn't been here that long you were aware that you had never really seen him upset. But, you decided you would be out of this wing before he got home, he’d never need to know you were sneaking around.
Your mind came back to the present as you noticed another door cracked open, a teal-green glow coming from within. You couldn’t think of what would make that kind of colour, maybe he had cool lights set up inside? Maybe the room would be really pretty. The more you considered it the more it excited you and you moved to the door quickly before throwing it open.
A gasp left your lips as you took in the room before you. Shelves lines the walls, soaring high up towards the ceiling. Countless bottles were set on the shelves, bottles of all different shapes and sizes filled with liquids of various colours. The floor was rough stonework and in the center a large pot. It looked as if there was a fire pit underneath, though there was no fire at present. From within the pot came the teal green glow that lit the room.
Whatever you thought you might find in here, this wasn’t it. The room looked like something out of a fantasy movie. You bit down on your lip, ears perking up to listen and tail wagging very slowly before you took a few cautious steps into the room. You looked around curiously, sniffing towards the pot in the center of the room and starting to peek at the liquid inside.
The teal-green liquid was viscous and swirling. It bubbled, large, thick bubbles that burst and left liquid residue up the side of the pot. It moved almost as if it was slowly boiling, though no heat was coming from underneath. The liquid smelt sickly sweet, so much so that it made you a little nauseous and you weren’t sure you wanted to know what was inside it.
Was it insane to think Yunho might be a wizard? It sounded nuts, you had never heard of wizards or witches or magic outside of stories and fairy tales. Maybe this room was just elaborately set up. There was a chance he just liked the aesthetic, he thought it was cool and the bottles were just props, or some kind of drinks?
Something in your gut told you that was wrong.
It seemed too big to wrap your head around. As you wandered towards the shelves you thought you would have noticed something. If magic was real people would know all about it. How could something so big really be kept a secret from everyone else? There had to be some sort of explanation that wasn’t that. Maybe you were hallucinating. Maybe you got sick and were seeing things. Maybe you were really asleep and this was all a crazy dream.
That seemed the most likely.
A small sense of calm washed over you. This would make so much sense as a dream. You felt your lips twitch into a smile as your tag wagged and you perked up a bit, no longer worried about Yunho catching you. You could wake up easily enough. You liked the idea of fantasy and magic and Yunho did have some spaces he said he wasn’t ready for you to see and it only made sense that your sleeping brain would try to make sense of that.
You started to peruse the bottles on the shelf with their labels in what looked like an old chinese script, wondering how much of the dream you could control. Did things like pinching yourself actually work to figure out you were dreaming? Could dream you feel pain anyway? Dream you could feel other things so why not pain? That probably wasn’t the only way to test it.
A scent caught your nose, something sweet, but not overwhelming. A scent that made your mouth water. You followed your nose to a small bottle with a baby blue liquid inside at waist level. The stopper wasn’t quite pushed in and the scent seeped out around it. You held it up to your nose and let out a whine at the delicious scent that came from within as you pulled the stopper out.
If this really was a dream, was there any harm in having a taste? You didn’t think so. Something mischievous was bubbling up inside you and you were growing far too curious to see if the dream taste would match the dream smell. Your tongue peeked out, licking your lips as you raised the bottle and took a big swig.
The sweet taste of the concoction flowed over your tongue and down your throat as you tipped the bottle, drinking half of it in one go. A pleasant, warm tingle ran through your body as you looked back at the bottle, unable to make any sense of the words scrawled on the bottle in what looked like Yunho’s handwriting. Whatever was in the drink it was making you feel better, happier, lighter.
You took a step towards the center of the room but you seemed to trip upwards, your toe catching on the stone but as you stumped you didn’t fall towards the floor. Your body lifted into the air as your toes scrapped the floor before leaving it completely.
You let out a scream, the bottle slipping from your grasp and crashing to the floor, spilling the remainder of its contents on the uneven stonework. You reached out desperately around you as you slowly rose into the air but nothing seemed to move you in any particular direction. Your heart was nearly beating out of your chest as your eyes searched desperately for something to grab onto but finding nothing close by as you went higher and higher.
Your tail tucked between your legs as you started to curl into a ball and squeeze your eyes shut. You muttered to yourself “wake up, wake up, wake up,” but nothing about your situation changed. It felt far too real, the feeling in your stomach being up this high, the nothingness around you, the thought that you had no clue how long the potion lasted.
A whimper left your lips as your ears flattened to your head and a lump started to form in your throat. You were terrified of looking down at this point, not wanting to know how high you had really gone. What if the potion did wear off? Would you just fall from up this high? You’d surely crack your head open if you fell that far. Pups were not meant to fall from heights like this, you weren’t made for flying.
You wrapped your arms around yourself tightly desperately begging the powers that be for this to just be a dream. You fought with your lungs to keep your breathing steady but your eyes seemed not to care as you started to cry, your body shaking and pressing your face into your knees as you hung in midair.
The seconds felt like hours, or maybe they were hours. You didn’t want to think about how long you stayed in the air crying before you heard Yunho’s voice calling your name. You could barely let out more than a pitiful whine in response, knowing he wouldn’t be able to hear you. Sniffles and quiet cries left you as you listened to his quick footsteps moving through the hallways until they started to get closer.
Yunho’s voice grew louder until he stepped through the door you’d left open. His eyes searched the room before seeing the smashed bottle and immediately looking up, his eyes locking with yours.
You expected him to yell or get angry. You weren’t supposed to be in here and you had broken something of his to boot. Or you at least expected him to be freaked out. He would never usually come home to find you floating in midair so even if he knew what everything in this room did he still should have been at least a little bit shocked.
What you weren’t expecting, was for him to laugh.
A smile spread across Yunho’s face before he broke out into a howl of laughter. You felt heat rush to your cheeks and a fresh wave of tears spilled from your eyes as you hid your face in your knees again. Here you were, scared out of your mind, and Yunho was laughing at you.
“Oh, puppy,” his voice didn’t sound nearly as sympathetic as you thought it ought to. You hugged yourself tighter, now trying to stifle the tears, not paying attention to him. Not until you heard him speak strange words, words that sounded somewhat Korean but not exactly. Your body started to fall downwards, slowly but still too fast for your liking and you started to panic, twisting in the air and really seeing how high up you were, finally letting out a proper wail.
“Ohhh,” Yunho’s tone grew more gentle. He muttered something and you started to move, falling faster. None of his reassurances that you were going to be okay helped you one bit and you squeezed your eyes shut again, hiding your face behind your hands and crying into your sleeves as you fell through the air.
You felt Yunho’s arms wrap around you as you made it to him, gently catching you. You buried your face in his chest, letting out tears and shaky breaths as he carried you out of the room, hushing and calming you. He settled into a cozy chair, pulling you into his lap properly and that was when you looked up at him, still frustrated that he had laughed but thankful for his rescue.
The space behind him caught your eyes though, as something floated by behind his chair. You peeked up and left out a gasp as the tall shelves of books that lined the walls and the candles and books floating, slowly swirling, above you.
“What-”
“This is my library,” he hummed. “No use in hiding it anymore, though I still don’t want you to come in here on your own just yet. Not until I make sure everything’s safe. Now,” Yunho grabbed your chin gently and turned your face towards his. “Are you okay? How did you get in there?”
You squirmed on his lap under his unusually serious gaze. “I’m fine,” you muttered. “But that was scary, why did you laugh?”
A grinned tugged at his lips. “Because I didn’t expect my cute little puppy to ever fly.”
You felt heat lick at your cheeks and you hid your face in his chest as he laughed.
“You weren’t in any danger,” he hummed, petting you gently to calm you and despite your annoyance with him it worked, your breathing slowing as your body relaxed against his. “You would have just floated back down to the ground if I didn’t find you.”
“I didn’t know that!” you whined, still hiding in his chest.
“You’re safe and sound now,” he cooed. “But do you see why I didn’t want you coming into this wing?”
You nuzzled your face into his neck and nodded. There was a moment of silence before you spoke. “Were you ever going to tell me?”
“Of course I was,” he said gently, hugging you a little closer. “But not everything in this wing is safe for you. I wanted to make sure you couldn’t get hurt. You’re lucky I already rearranged the potions to move the dangerous ones out of your reach. Speaking of which,” he moved you back so he could see your face. “Why did you drink anything in there?”
“I- I thought it was a dream,” you mumbled sheepishly.
Yunho’s face cracked into a smile again before he let out another howl of laughter and you smacked his arm somewhat playfully.
“Don’t make fun of me!” you pouted, ears pressing to your head again.
“Oh puppy,” he leaned down and pressed a kiss to your nose which only made you more flustered. “You’re just too cute.”
“Y-You I’m- I-I- don’t-” you stumbled over your words as he chuckled.
“Don’t even try and deny it,” he teased. “You’re precious. And, if you promise not to come into this wing without me again, I can teach you a few things.”
Your ears perked up as you looked at him. “Really?” you said excitedly.
“Yes, really,” he chuckled. “Now how about dinner, or did the potion fill you up?”
A pout formed on your lips. “It was half a bottle.”
Yunho pressed a kiss to the corner of your lips, if only to make your heart race faster and the smirk on his face as he pulled back confirmed it. “Then dinner it is.”

-Y/N’s P.O.V-
I grit my teeth, blocking a punch but the sheer force Kei put behind it was enough to make me stumble back. My forearm was already starting to bruise as it took the brunt of his blows but I wasn’t ready to give up just yet, not yet.
I can still keep going!
I let that thought spur me on as I let out a fierce cry, swinging my own arm and connecting my fist to his face. He stumbled back, a hand coming up to his jaw. I didn’t give him any time to recover as I swung again, putting more power behind each punch. Some connected but others were deflected. I hit his cheek, then managed to get a hit in on his ribs, his stomach next but no matter how many times I landed a blow he seemed unfazed. He’s either more resilient than I had originally thought or he’s so fucked up these blows, even if they do hurt him, they do absolutely nothing to him.
I guess I was starting to get desperate as I threw blow after blow, I was getting sloppier and sloppier. Kei must have noticed as a smirk played at his lips. I swung forward once more, Kei dodging it easily. He grabbed a hold of my arm, squeezing tightly as he pulled me towards him, bringing his knee into my stomach. A choked groan fell from my lips, the air being knocked out of me. I clutched at my stomach with my free hand, falling to my knees. I gasped for air, desperately trying to fill my lungs with the oxygen I needed. Kei stood over me without saying a word, my arm still in his hold. With a scowl on his face he brought his elbow down on my arm harshly, the sound of the bone cracking reaching my ears milliseconds before the pain set in. A blood curdling scream left my lips at the excruciating pain I felt in my arm. I reached out and clawed at his hand to get him to let me go but he only tightened his hold. I grit my teeth at the pain but another cry was forced from my lips when he kicked at my side. He finally let me go after that, my body curling in on itself. A wet cough wracked through my body, blood trickling down my chin as I trembled at the unbearable pain I felt all over my body.
Have I always been this useless? Did I never stand a chance? Was I just fighting a battle I would never win in the end?
I set my jaw, baring my teeth as I shook those thoughts from my head. I pushed myself off the ground, pushing my body past it’s limit as I rose to my feet. I swayed in place like a drunkard, staring Kei down. I’m not going to stop, not until I take him down. I’ll do whatever it takes, even if it costs me my life. He watched me silently, his hand twitching at his side.
“Just how stubborn are you?” He asked rhetorically, his face showing just how infuriated he was, “I thought it’d be fun to throw you around like a rag doll for a bit but even I’m growing tired of this. Stay the fuck down!”
He shouted that last sentence as he kicked at my leg, my knee bending at an unnatural angle. I swallowed the cry that crawled up my throat as I crumbled to the ground. I clenched my teeth and began to push myself up once more but he kicked my arm out from under me. From that moment on he kicked and stomped on my body to the point where I became numb to the pain. By the time he was done I was laying on my back, barely conscious. He had his foot on my chest, pressing down on my sternum. I wheezed with every breath I took, Kei crushing my lungs with his foot with every second that ticked by.
“Just die already. I’m tired of playing with you,” He spat, digging his heel into my chest, “The faster I deal with you the faster I can get back home and get rid of the runt Mei has tied up.”
At the mention of San I mustered up the last bit of my strength and brought a hand up, grabbing at his ankle weakly. He looked surprised to see me moving but that surprise vanished as soon as it came his face twisting with vexation, the pressure he put on my chest more than doubled. It felt like my sternum would collapse any second. A choked cough fell from my lips, tears falling from my eyes at the pain. Black dots were dancing in my vision, the lack of oxygen getting to me. Just as I thought I’d pass out or finally die the weight on my chest disappeared.
-Yunho’s P. O. V-
My chest heaved up and down with every breath I took, my hands shaking at my side. It took every ounce of self restraint I had not to tear him apart limb from limb. I stood with my back to Y/N who was laying on the ground, barely breathing. I should’ve tried harder to reach her. I should’ve done everything I could’ve done to stop her from going after Kei. I should’ve stopped her from even coming here in the first place! This is all because of that bastard! If he knew his entire family was this unhinged he should’ve grown stronger!
“Ah…” Kei let out in a drawn out breath, shaking off the hit Yunho landed on him, “It took you long enough to get here, Yun.”
My blood ran cold at the nickname. Y/N was the only one that called me that and she only called me that when we were at home, never when we were on missions. So how...how did he know about that name? Kei noticed the look on my face, a smug smirk settling on his face.
“I’d like to tell you how I know about that name but it’s not that interesting,” He paused to gauge my reaction. He must’ve seen something he liked because he beamed over at me, “It’s not from an inside man if that's what you’re thinking. Your guys are disgustingly loyal.”
I growled low in my throat, making to take a step towards him but froze the second he pulled out a gun. I clenched my teeth at the sight, “Just how dirty do you plan to play?”
He grinned at the question, a chuckle falling from his lips, “As dirty as I have to. I would love to go a round with you, believe me I really would but you see...I’m a bit tired from throwing Y/N around. She didn’t injure me much but,” He paused to let out a heavy sigh, scratching the back of his head with his free hand as he waved the gun in the other nonchalantly, “Just blocking her punches and rendering her immobile was more work than I had hoped. The bitch just doesn’t give up.”
“Shut the fuck up.” I spat out through my teeth.
“Did I strike a nerve there?” He asked, something flashing in his eyes, “Oh right, I almost forgot about that. I guess I wouldn’t like anyone talking about the one I love like that either.”
“I said shut the fuck up! What the hell do you know about me, huh!? I’m sick and tired of hearing you talk!” I shouted.
He chuckled but said no more, giving a shrug of his shoulders. I should’ve knocked him out with that first punch if only to save myself the trouble of hearing him speak. This is why I always hated fighting this bastard. He loved hearing himself talk. If he could he’d talk your damn ear off. What pissed me off more than anything is that he wasn’t just all talk. He was one hell of a fighter, better than Seonghwa and Seonghwa was the best fighter I had ever known. He talked as much as he did because he knew just how good he was. Well I’m done hearing his voice. I don’t care if he starts shooting, he's not the only one that has something hidden up his sleeve.
With that in mind I charged at him but again like before I was stopped in my tracks. I didn’t get very far, my legs refusing to move at the scream I heard that came from behind me. A lump formed in my throat the moment her whimpers reached my ears. I looked back to see Y/N clawing at the ground underneath her, tears cascading down the sides of her face, a bullet wound as clear as day on the side of her leg. The way her face twisted in pain had my legs go weak, my knees almost failing me but I stayed upright.
“Dammit!” I shouted, frustrated that I couldn’t take the pain away from her, frustrated that I let her get this bad in the first place, frustrated that I couldn’t protect her, frustrated that when she needed me most I was of no use to her.
My hands trembled at my sides, the anger I was feeling overwhelming. I was angry with myself for being useless, angry with San for being the reason why we were even here in the first place, angry at Kei for injuring her this badly. I let that anger fuel my, letting the dagger I always kept hidden in my sleeve fall into my hand. I could’ve pulled this out from the beginning but the instant I saw Y/N laying on the floor on the verge of death with Kei’s foot on her chest my mind went blank. Had I just pulled out my dagger and stabbed him when I threw him off of her I wouldn’t be in this situation but I had no time to think of what I should’ve done right now. Right now I had to disarm him, bring him down, and kill him. Like hell would I let him live after what he did to Y/N.
I grit my teeth as I lowered the dagger in my hand, grabbing at the blade with my fingers. I should’ve done this from the start but seeing Y/N covered in her own blood had my mind go blank. If I timed this and aimed properly I’d be able to embed the blade into his heart but there was just one thing that made me hesitate. The bastard had crazy quick reflexes. If he was going to do what I was thinking of then I only had a split second to get in the way. Will I make it in time? I shook my head, firmly holding onto the blade of my dagger. I was going to make it, I had to make it.
So with that I brought my arm up quickly. When my hand adjacent to my shoulder I swung my arm back down, letting the dagger slip from my fingers and prayed it hit its mark. As soon as the danger left my fingers I ran to cover Y/N, hearing the sound of his gun firing just as I reached her. I winced at the pain that bloomed from my right thigh, squeezing my eyes shut for a moment and falling to my knees as my leg gave out. I bit down on my bottom lip harshly, swallowing the groan that crawled its way up my throat. I opened my eyes to see if the dagger hit where I wanted it to, my heart sinking at seeing that I had missed, the dagger embedded in his arm instead of his chest. He grinned but the look in his eyes told me he was less than pleased.
“Ah...you two...really are something else.” He let out slowly, soundlessly pulling the dagger out of his arm. He threw it to the ground, the blade digging into the dirt by his feet, “You could’ve walked out of this alive you know that? I have no qualms with you...or any of the others for that matter. My orders were to take her back to Mei and that’s all I was going to do but...fucking hell man, you lot just don’t give up do you? You could’ve all saved yourselves if you just handed her over, no, if you had just given up on my worthless little brother then all of this could've been avoided. Tell me, what the hell is so special about him, huh? What qualities does he possess that make you all fight for him this hard?”
I stared at him wide eyed, seeing an unfamiliar emotion creep into his eyes. I’ve known Kei for a few years now and I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t know him that well because we were anything but friends. But the Kei that stood before me now, asking these questions...seemed so vulnerable. His eyes held a certain emotion that if I wasn’t trying to protect the love of my life from him I would’ve felt sorry for him. Something told me he wasn’t just asking me these questions...but who else could they be for?
“Answer me! What’s so special about that bastard!? He brings misfortune everywhere he goes yet everybody still wants him! What the hell is it about him!?” He asked, his voice wavering every so often, “I do everything I’m asked of without hesitation. I kill when told to and torture when told to. I’m worth more than San ever will be yet I’m still second best! Why!? I try so fucking hard to please Mei, but I’m nothing more than a pawn she can play with however she likes! But San...San is her damn pride and joy. She may be doing unspeakable things to him but she would never, never actually get rid of him. But me? She’d kill me the second I make a mistake.” He paused, the hand he was using to hold his gun shaking as he aimed directly at me, his eyes glazed over, “Even Kiri prefers him over me. I’m their brother too so why!? Why am I always being cast aside for that runt?”
I was too shocked to say anything. Where the hell is all of this coming from? Why is he the one getting emotional? What kind of messed up shit is going on inside his head? All these questions I was asking myself was just making me angrier and angrier. I can’t believe he has the audacity to be like this in this situation.
I chuckled darkly, but neither my face or eyes displayed any type of humor, “Wanna know why you’re always being cast aside? Because your a narcissistic egomanic and top top it all off your a fucking psychopath! Do you really think anybody would care for a sick and twisted person like you!?” I shouted, pushing myself off the ground, taking a step towards him.
He didn’t move a muscle, his hands beginning to shake violently. I took another step forward, pausing only when I heard my name fall from her lips.
“Yun...don’t. Just...run...away…” She let out in a strained voice, her breathing ragged.
I shook my head, clenching my hands at my sides as I kept walking towards Kei, closing the distance between the two of us, “I can’t stand San either but I can tell you that he is so much better than you in every way. He is one hell of a fighter. He is a hell of a sniper. He is a hell of a strategist. But above all he is loyal and he would gladly die for any of us. Can you say you’d die for Kiri? What about Mei? Would you put your life on the line to save theirs?”
Kei remained silent and his silence was all the answer I needed. I let a rueful smirk play at my lips, standing directly in front of him now.
“San is twice the man you will ever be.”
And with that I swung, my fist connecting with his face. He stumbled back, his grip on the gun now completely gone as if fell to the ground with a thud. I didn’t stop with just one punch. I lurched forward and grabbed onto the collar of his shirt, the two of us toppling to the ground. I hovered over him, my knuckles going white, the hate in my eyes burning hotter than ever. I pulled him up slightly off the ground before slamming him back down.
“You don’t get to do this! You don’t get to suddenly become so human! Not after everything you’ve done!” I cried out, my voice breaking, my emotions getting the better of me, “Where were all these emotions when you had Kiri kill-”
I cut myself off, swallowing the lump that formed in my throat as the image of Hongjoong’s dead eyes staring into mine came to the forefront of my mind. I felt a tear slip out of my eyes, slowly making its way down my cheek, “Where were these emotions when Kiri killed Hongjoong-my brother? Huh? Answer me! Where the hell were they!?” I choked out, my lips quivering as I tried to reign in my tears.
His eyes darted from one of mine to the other but he offered no words. Angered by his silence I landed another blow to his face. I pulled my arm back once more, letting it hang in the air for a few seconds, my whole body shaking as I bit down on my bottom lip harshly. He didn’t try and fight back, seeing the fight in him basically gone brought my anger back up and I struck him again. I landed blow after blow, my knuckle bursting open at the force, his blood mingling with mine until I couldn’t tell whose blood was whose. How dare he break right now? After everything he’s done? After everything he’s put us through in just this one night? He almost killed her with no remorse yet here he was finally acting human...he makes me sick. He doesn’t know what it feels like to have someone you love taken from you. He has no idea how it feels to have a genuine relationship with someone. He knows nothing about and yet--yet he craves it more than anything. He craved to be loved but he doesn’t deserve it.
I don’t know how long I was hitting him for but when I came to he was barely conscious in my hold, his head lolling back as I held him up. With a scoff of disgust I let him go, pushing myself up. I staggered back, exhaustion washing over me. I had the urge to kill him but if he was feeling like this then he deserves to stay alive and feel every little thing. He doesn’t even deserve death, that’d be showing him too much kindness. My chest rose and fell, my breathing labored as I stood over him, the anger still in my system but I couldn’t afford to waste another second on him.
So with that I left him there, stumbling my way over to where Y/N was, struggling to stay awake. When I reached her I fell to my knees, brushing the hair that was glued to her face with her blood out of the way. I cradled her face in my hands gently, my thumbs brushing away the tears that had stained her face more than her blood had. She gave me a small smile, weakly reaching up, her fingers just grazing my cheek ever so slightly before she let her hand fall back down to her side.
“You’re safe…” She whispered, looking up at my through half lidded eyes.
I choked on a sob as I gave her a smile of my own but with how hard I was trying to not cry it must’ve looked like a grimace to her. I leaned forward, resting my forehead against hers and closed my eyes for a moment. I let out a shaky breath before leaning back again, wiping at my eyes with the back of my hand. I didn’t waste another second as I scooped her up into my arms. I hesitated when she whimpered the second I touched. And when I picked her up, the cry of agony that left her lips was enough to make me second guess if I should even be carrying her right now but her wounds needed to be treated right away.
“I’m sorry...just bear with it for a little bit longer.” I mumbled as I began to walk back to our cars.
But the second I took a step forward I stumbled, my right leg giving out but I refused to fall. The adrenaline that had been pumping through my veins disappeared and the pain in my leg resurfaced. Just standing on it had a groan of pain crawl its way up my throat but I forced it back down. I grit my teeth as I pushed myself to keep going. I had to get her out of here and treated, that’s the only thing that mattered right now. Whatever happens to me doesn’t matter...all I cared about was carrying her to safety. I kept repeating those words over and over again like a mantra. I was so focused on getting her to the car that I didn’t notice what was going on around me...until it was too late.
I knew the mercy I showed would come back to bite me...but I didn’t think it would come this quickly. Two...I had made two mistakes tonight. The first one was letting Y/N run out of my grasp to fight Kei and the second one was letting Kei live. I never thought one of those mistakes would end up costing me my life.
-Y/N’s P.O.V-
I opened my eyes when I heard what sounded like gunfire, Yunho grunting low in his throat drawing my attention. I furrowed my brows in confusion when Yunho fell to his knees, adjusting me in his hold. I hissed at the pain I felt spread through my entire body but I forgot about it as soon as I looked up into Yunho’s face. He was staring down at me with a look in his eyes that I couldn’t quite place. The corners of his lips curled up the slightest bit but I could tell the simple action was causing him an immense amount of pain.
“Yun..?”
He sucked in a deep breath but the second he did he started coughing violently. And that’s when I noticed it. He had blood covering the inside of his mouth, some of it dribbling down the side of his chin. His entire face contorted in pain, his grip on me tightening for an instant before it was gone completely. I cried out the moment my body fell to the floor but that pain was nothing compared to what I felt at seeing him fall next to me, his face inches from mine. My eyes widened as I finally took notice of the red splotches that stained the back of his shirt, the once white fabric painted red. I reached out, gingerly touching his back. He didn’t even cry out when I touched him, my vision blurring over as I realized what that meant.
“Don’t...cry. I’m sorry...I couldn’t...protect you…” He forced out, a smile playing on his lips. That smile trembled before turning into a frown, the tears falling from his eyes, “I’m sorry...I’m so sorry…”
I shook my head the best I could, my own tears falling freely. I opened my mouth to tell him that none of this was his fault, none of it. This was all my fault, I should’ve planned properly, thought everything through, not let my emotions take over. There were so many mistakes I made that could’ve helped avoid all of this. Every single thing that went wrong tonight was my fault but before I could get a word out I felt my body being lifted up. Before I knew it Kei had thrown me over his shoulder and was beginning to walk away from Yunho. I pounded his back with my fists but I was too weak, my punches not having any effect. I screamed and cried for him to let me go. I can’t let Yunho die alone, not him, anything but that, please. I have to be with him!
“Yunho!!”
