I got the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection for the Nintendo Switch a few months ago go, shortly after I found out about it. I was bouncing between games, when I found Remy! I loved his design, but was really confused as to why I recognized most of the other character besides him. Turns out, he’s only in Street Fighter III: Third Impact.

I was so sad to find out he’s only in the one game, but they’re brought back other characters years later, so maybe he still has a chance to make a come back in a new game.

I sincerely loved Afterlife and will see Firehouse but it is cracking me up JUST a bit that BOTH of the films certain segments of the fandom held up as "what real fans wanted" after ATC have been / are likely to be delayed. Cigarettes were one of the first products that allowed the commercial realm to align itself—in market potential, if not political commitment—to emerging women's movements. In the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, smoking was considered such an unseemly activity for women that they were often explicitly prohibited from doing so in public. So it made sense that the American Tobacco Company saw capturing this emerging market as akin to "opening a gold mine right in our front yard." ATC deftly exploited the first wave of feminism when it hired Edward Bernays (now considered the "father of public relations") to craft campaigns that would get more women smoking, and buying, cigarettes. Bernays initially appealed to women's vanity by proposing cigarettes as slimming aids—“Reach for a Lucky instead of a sweet,” urged print advertisements—but his hunch was that appealing to their growing sense of autonomy might be the real mover of product. In 1929, Bernays and ATC orchestrated a walk for equality down New York's Fifth Avenue, hiring female participants to hold aloft Lucky Strikes as "torches of freedom," while encouraging bystanders to "Fight another sex taboo!" by joining them in inhaling the heady smoke of gender equality. In an early example of contrived media virility, the photos of the march caused a national sensation and, as expected, nudged the percentage of female cigarette buyers up by more than half, from 5 percent in 1923 to 12 percent post-march. Lucky Strike rivals quickly followed suit, with Philip Morris even organizing a U.S. lecture tour in which cigarette experts instructed women on the finer points of lighting up.

Ok so, we’re pretty much sure that Liz was a virgin when she got with Philip, there’s nothing confirmed nor really rumored on Philips part so it’s overall debatable whether he was or not but I *just wonder* how much both of them knew about the deed. Obviously Philip was a sailor, went to all boys schools with rowdy boys, etc etc so I’m assuming he knew a good amount about it. But *liz*? Did she even know anything about that being in her position in high society? She was pretty sheltered not only with her status as heir apparent but also being a target during the war. No, the Queen Mum doesn't strike me as one who'd have that discussion with her daughters, and probably wouldn't have deemed it necessary to do so. I honestly don't ponder about this much, but I'd say it's safe to think "girl talks" during her ATS days is a reasonable guess, as that'd have been the only time as an adult that she'd spent time around regular people, without a chaperone/hovering staff member (to my knowledge). Perhaps she'd also found out from married friends, or got curious and looked it up in a book all secret squirrel-like in the middle of the night because "One wants to do naughty things to LT BAMF."

The only thing that makes me think she truly didn't know until marriage is that, and I believe it was in Elizabeth and Philip: Portrait of a Royal Marriage where I read this, but one line stands out in my mind, which is that "The Queen discovered sex on her wedding night." Whether that means that was her first time (which it was, that's a fact), or implying she had no idea until it happened is moot.

OPINION: Ang Pumuna, Taya!: Ang bantang dala ng pakikibaka

Kamakailan lamang ay umani ng pambabatikos si Vice President at DepEd Secretary Sara Duterte-Carpio nang magbitaw ito ng red-tagging remark laban sa Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) matapos itong sumuporta sa nagdaang tigil-pasada ng iba’t ibang transport groups noong Marso 6 upang tutulan ang Jeepney Phaseout. Inilarawan ng Bise Presidente bilang “communist-inspired” at walang saysay ang naging transport strike. Hindi na bago ang ganitong uri ng pahayag mula sa mga pinuno ng bansa laban sa mga kritiko nito at iba pang progresibong grupo. Gaya ng balita, kung madali para sa pamahalaan na i-redtag ang mga kaguruan, madali rin para sa kanila na gawing pangunahing biktima ang mga kabataang mag-aaral. Sa panahon kung kailan tila tinitikom ang boses ng masa, paano ito nakakaapekto sa mga kabataang nagnanais makiisa sa pagkamit ng isang makatarungang lipunan?

Sa nagdaang rehimeng Duterte hanggang sa kasalukuyang rehimeng Marcos, makikita ang pasistang pamumuno kung saan ang batas ay dinadaan sa armadong paninindak upang gawing madali para sa militar ang paniniil, pagbibigay-katwiran sa mga pang-aabuso, at panliligalig sa karapatang pantao. Kung susuriin din ang mahabang kasaysayan ng Pilipinas, naging malaki ang papel ng aktibong pagkilos ng mga kabataan, lalo na ng mga kabataan-estudyante, sa pagtataguyod ng mga progresibong ideya. Naging kaakibat na ng student activism ang brutal na pag-aantagonisa ng mga namamahala, at hanggang ngayon ay dama ang pangambang dala nito.

Mahalagang linawin na ang pag-aantagonisang nararanasan ay may mas ispesipikong ugat at termino, at ito ang tinatawag na red-tagging o red-baiting. Sa ilalim nito, hindi lamang villainized o binabansagang “terorista” ang mga kadalasang aktibista, kritiko, at mamamahayag, kundi malisosyo rin silang inuugnay sa Communist Party of the Philippines-New People's Army (NPA) bilang porma ng pag-atake. Ginagamit ang red-tagging bilang isang sandata upang pigilan ang mga mamamayan mula sa pagpupuna, pagiging kritikal, at pangangalampag para sa kanilang mga pangangailangan. Hindi na bago ang konsepto ng red-tagging, ngunit mas nabigyang-pansin ito ng mas malawak maraming mamamayan nang isabatas ang Anti-Terrorism Law (ATL).

Higit na ipinawalang-bisa ng ATL ang Human Security Act of 2007 dahil sa pagpapalawak nito ng kahulugan ng 'terorismo'. Ayon sa ATL, itinuturing na terorismo ang anumang pagkilos na maaaring magdulot ng takot sa publiko. Isinima rin bilang terrorist act ang pagsali sa mga itinuturing na 'terrorist group' at maging ang mismong aksyon na pagbanta ng paggawa ng mga kilusang terorista. Ang karagdagang panganib na dala ng batas ang pagbibigay ng labis na kapangyarihan sa iilang opisyal ng pamahalaan na masyadong magtatakda sa kung sino ang terorista sa bansa.

Bukod dito, mariin din nitong binabali ang mga konstitusyonal na karapatang pantao. Binibigyan ng ATL ng kapangyarihan ang awtoridad na ikulong ang mga pinaghihinalaang terorista sa loob ng 14 na araw kahit pa walang warrant of arrest, at kung mapatunayang iligal ang naging pagdedetina, hindi pa rin magbabayad ng multang Php 500,000 ang mga nagbintang sapagkat tinanggal na ito sa ilalim ng batas. Ayon din sa Seksyon 16 ng ATL, maaari ilagay ang mga akusado under surveillance at i-wiretap kung may basbas ng Court of Appeals. Bunga nito ay ang posibilidad na magkaroon ng abuso sa kapangyarihan dahil masyadong malawak ang paggamit sa salitang “terorista”.

Nakasaad din sa batas ang pagtatag ng Anti-Terrorism Council (ATC), na binubuo ng mga miyembrong inatasan ng ehekutibo, na may awtoridad na pangalanan at ipaaresto ang mga indibidwal o grupo na babansagang “terorista” nang walang judicial warrant. Ang mga madedetina ay maaaring abutin ng 24 araw nang walang kaso o matibay na dahilan bago pa sila maihaharap sa hudisyal. Taliwas ito sa Republic Act 9372 o “Human Security Act” na nagsasabing ang mga inaakusahan ay dapat madala sa hukom sa loob ng 3 araw. Dagdag pa sa kwestyunableng kapangyarihan ng ATC ang gampanin ng National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict o NTF-ELCAC na nakapokus sa mga kontra-komunistang aktibidad. Maging sila ay maluwag din sa paggamit o pagbitiw ng mga akusasyon laban sa mga aktibista.

Kung titingnan mula sa perspektibo natin bilang mga nabibilang sa komunidad ng isang pamantasan, ang patuloy na paghahasik ng red-tagging ay nagiging porma ng pagyurak sa academic freedom—ang kalayaang mag-isip nang kritikal, kalayaang magdiskurso, at kalayaang makibahagi sa komunidad nang walang takot. Bilang halimbawa, sa mga nagdaang taon ay mas napapadalas ang red-tagging ng iba’t ibang institusyon sa UP. Ilang mga organisasyon, guro, at institusyon sa UP Diliman, kabilang ang UP Integrated School at College of Education, ang inakusahan bilang recruitment at training grounds ng CPP-NPA noong Enero 22, 2021. Ang publikasyong Tinig ng Plaridel ng UP College of Mass Communication ay nabiktima rin ng pangrered-tag partikular ang ilan sa mga editor nito. Sa UP Visayas naman, nared-tag ang ilan nitong estudyante matapos magpahayag ng kanilang personal na saloobin at tindig sa social media tungkol sa naganap na halalan. Binansagang mga rebelde ang mga mag-aaral na mariing kinundena ng administrasyon ng pamantasan. Habang sa UP Baguio, may mga estudyanteng nakararanas ng umano’y surveillance, harassment, at pananakot mula sa Task Group Baguio na nang-akusa rin sa kanila bilang “mga potensyal na rekrut” ng mga komunistang grupo.

Bukod sa UP, lantaran na ring nired-tag ng AFP at sinabing recruitment hotspot umano ng mga komunista ang University of Santo Tomas, Ateneo de Manila University and De La Salle University, at iba pang mga unibersidad at kolehiyo sa bansa.

Sa ganitong klase ng estado, hindi natin maiwasang isipin na kung ang kabataan ay isa sa mga inaasahan bilang tagapagtaguyod ng makatarungan at maka-masang lipunan, anong klase ng kabataan kaya ang layuning ihulma nito? Mga kabataan kaya na tahimik lamang sa kabila ng laganap na korapsyon at pang-aabuso na ginagawa ng administrasyon sa ating bayan? Nananatiling isang malaking banta sa sektor ng edukasyon at sa kritikalidad ng mga mag-aaral ang panlipunang krisis na ginagawang panggigipit ng estado. Kaisa kami sa paggiit ng argumento ni House Deputy Speaker Mujiv Hataman na na sa pagtalakay at pagpapatupad ng batas na ito, malinaw na higit na prayoridad ng mga probisyon ng batas ang pagtukoy sa kung sino ang pwedeng ituring na terorista, kaysa sa paghuli sa mga totoong terorista.

Habang tumatalas ang ngipin ng pamahalaan na sumisiil sa karapatan sa pamumuna, patuloy na humihina ang proteksyon ng mamamayan. Nakapagtatakang marinig mula sa Commission on Human Rights na isa raw ang Philippine National Police (PNP) sa mga dapat na lapitan kapag nabiktima ng red-tagging. Pero ‘di ba’t mga pinuno rin naman ng mga institusyong tulad nito ang malakas magbitiw ng mga paratang? Tulad ng ilang mga pagkakataon ng pagbibintang at profiling ng PNP sa mga organizer ng community pantries noon, lumilitaw ang mga katanungan tungkol sa katapatan at integridad ng institusyon—kung kanino tunay na makakakapit ang mga nadidiin at kung sino-sino talaga ang kinakampihan ng militar.

Sinubukan naman ng ilang kinatawan sa pamahalaan na maghain ng solusyon, at isa na rito ang Senate Bill No. 2121 ni Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon. Nakapaloob sa panukalang ito ang pagpaparusa sa red-tagging sa pamamagitan ng pagkakulong ng sampung taon at panghabang-buhay na diskwalipikasyon sa paghawak ng pampublikong tungkulin. Ayon kay Drilon, walang sapat at ligal na tulong para sa mga biktima ng red-tagging kaya’t layunin ng bill na aksyunan ang kakulangang ito. Sa kasamaang palad, nananatiling pending sa komite ang legislative status nito mula pa noong 2021. Taliwas ito sa mabilis na pagpapatupad ng mga batas na nagbibigay ng dagdag na kapangyarihan sa mga awtoridad, gaya ng ATL. Kung magpapatuloy ang ganitong kalakaran, maaaring humantong ito sa isang sitwasyon ng tuluyang pagkawala ng kapangyarihan ng mamamayan at pagbagsak ng pundasyon ng ating demokrasya.

Gayunpaman, hindi tayo dapat na magpadala lamang sa lumalakas na pwersa ng naghaharing-uri. Ang pagsasagawa ng red-tagging ay hindi kailanman magiging katanggap-tanggap dahil wala itong ibang tunay na layunin kung hindi patahimikin ang hindi pagsang-ayon, pagpuna at pagsupil sa oposisyon at kontra-salaysay laban sa mga patakaran at aksyon ng pamahalaan. Dahil dito, nararapat lamang na ang bawat isa ay lumubog sa tunay na kalagayan ng lipunan at tumindig kontra sa panggigipit ng estado. Habang patuloy ang pag-atake sa mga lingkod-bayan, hindi tayo dapat magpasiil, magkibit-balikat o magsawalang-bahala. Bilang mga kabataan-estudyante, higit sa kritikal na pagtingin sa lagay ng mga bagay, higit sa pagsasatinig ng boses ng masa, higit sa pagiging kritiko ng pamahalaan, mahalagang tandaan na ang makatarungang lipunan ay makakamit lamang kung tayo ay titindig at kikilos. //nina Rachelle Torralba at Ria Bautista

ONE is the dcmk cast set in johto. aka the 'kaito and shiho are on the run from team rocket bc reasons' fic. perfect excuse to make them a duo bc at the time there was very little content featuring their (potential) dynamic and i decided actually they would make a great tag team if given the chance. shinichi is there too as their benefactor of sorts, traveling w/ them and handling the day to day stuff to keep their faces outta public view (and also bc he has nothing better to do after ran kicked him across the border out of kanto)

TWO is the astral buddy cast, unknown setting possibly irrelevant who knows?? senya's still an amnesiac except its more of a 'small child following after a drifloon' lost in focus sorta thing. she has a buddy (an azelf) that follows her around but its not her pkmn. junko runs into her while disillusioned following a crushing e4 defeat and then proposition to replace a recently-incapacitated e4 member that of she does not accept because she has not earned it (in her eyes). revolves around the event that's left senya disabled, ft rotating cast gunha (good), misaka worst (bad), and misaki (neutral??)

THREE is the atcs pt3 au that follows the events leading up to miyuki taking over for chris as hoenn champion. i haven't decided on the main conflict tho i keep tossing deoxys/meteor onto the table. i DO know that jirachi becomes the solution and there's a lot of digging around to uncover a literal myth(ical pkmn). miyuki fled to kalos yrs ago never intending to return to hoenn, but a plea from chris regrettably changes that. and then he never leaves, poor guy.

FOUR is continuation of an iwaoi au that i also need to finish, where the hq cast is in olden johto before the days of ppl and pkmn living in harmony (i predicted legends in 2020 dhshsha /j) and in the settlement of blackthorn where tooru and hajime live, pkmn are even considered urban legends. they set out with a homemade "pokedex" (literally) as a coming of age task to find ho-oh, but just prior to their leaving, tooru is horribly burned and they're both cast out by the clan, leaving them worse fie wear on their travels. fun little pre-modern johto fic that i should honestly use pla as reference for, esp since there's a subplot w/ celebi where tooru gets sent back to the past in flashes to prevent his family from dying from a mudslide and leaving him orphaned in hajime's strange clan's territory. i had sooo much fun w this one so much like the one above this will def happen one day

AND FIVE :) the op au pkmn ranger origin story set in almia sometime around the turn of the 20th century (and 40 yrs prior so 1860+). revolves around sabo escaping from his homeland in hia valley after an invasion and recruiting the help of ace, leader of a civilized group of squatters making good use of the chroma ruins highlands. both have opposing ways of dealing with conflict involving pkmn, and by uniting their ways of thinking, become the ideal first "pokemon rangers" that all rangers afterwards base their training on. after journeying through the entire region helping ppl when disaster strikes, the two return to hia valley and retake the land with numerous allies, which unites almia together as one region/nation. then they solidify this by building the ranger union :)

Sportsball

I don't care for sportsball. At all. But I think that pro and college sports people should strike and boycott it. In my unbiased opinion.

Why?

Because each player's value is dropped every game they play. So they lose nothing to strike, while the owners lose everything.

Well. They could fire and replace you with college students. So. United front.

Wouldn't want another "Reagan fires the ATC" situation.

Original shop manual, MSO from Honda, and a binder full of articles/tips/info from the era of moto racing is included. The CR is fully clean, detailed, and ready for immediate delivery. The only other item the bike would need is the installation of the aluminum clutch/water pump cover which is included. Although I have not removed the cylinder for inspection, I would assume that the cylinder would be a good candidate for refinishing as well. The CR had piston failure the last time it was ridden 20-25 years ago. (The 1982 CR 250R came with a magnesium cover which was prone to failure). It has had 2 owners, still has the original tires, perfectly straight wheels, and also includes a binder of history that adds to the value of the bike.Since the CR did need a new clutch/water pump cover, I was able to obtain a perfect (mint) 1981 aluminum cover which was difficult to find. This was truly a "barn find" Honda CR250R. Luckily, Jeremiah’s motorcycling background keeps him safe in the ATC’s saddle, but the zany experiments also keep the audience coming back for more.1982 Honda CR250R Exceptionally Clean Perfect Restoration Project I purchased this bike two years ago with the intention of restoration.
