I had a chance to see this new document about Israel's war crimes called The Evidence (dir. Atakan Kerkulu) on a film festival in Istanbul yesterday. The documentary shows detailed research on the use of illegal weapons, human rights violations and war crimes all supported by and explained in context of international law. Of course none of this is news to most of us, but it's very well put together and inclusive. There are interviews with experts on all aspects of the issue as well as former IDF soldiers and Israeli human rights activists. We were lucky enough to then have a talk with one of the producers, Abdulkadir Karakelle, who attended the film festival. He gave insight on the legal process of making and marketing the documentary, the censorships and limitations they faced. They put so much effort and money into this but it is not going to be on any mainstream platforms or television. It's currently available on film festivals in US and Europe, (see AJB DOC Film Festival here) and there are exclusive cinema screenings in various different areas (check the link below to see their calendar!). So if you have the means, please go and watch this documentary to support them. Karakelle mentioned they are working with universities in the US to show the documentary in events and social organisations. Please support this any way you can to help it reach a bigger audience and gain respect in the industry. Here's the official link to their website, please check to see if there's a screening near you and share this post so it can reach more people! And as always, FREE PALESTINE 🇵🇸
