And here's the comp and the critter that I sent to Roxy! This fit was heavily inspired by the Weave set in BG3, in Astarion's signature colours and with an undershirt that is more rogue-like and modest. A tiara and jewelry because he's a fancy boy 🥰

the crucial difference between the poor meow-meowness of Astarion and Shadowheart is that while being attracted to Astarion clouds your judgement and makes you unable to interpret his character accurately, the only way to fully get Shadowheart is to be in love with her. To the untrained eye this might sound like a ‘double standard’ but the academic name for this is actully The Lesbo’s Burden

I like bloodweave. Okay. But I DON'T like the version of them in fanfic where Astarion is a dick and Gale is like. Whining and pleading for him to be emotionally vulnerable (or just. Nice to him) prior to the relationship being established. Because that is just not accurate. Gale needs the player to express interest in him during his weave-teaching scene before he even considers hitting on them properly. Gale is entirely resigned to his fate and needs someone else to pull him away from it. Gale only starts being sweet and romantic and devoted after you accept his love confession and give him hope for the future. Gale says fuck all and then slinks away to cry privately if you break up with him.

Like he isn't chasing after people lmao. He isn't dropping to his knees and crying about anything much less this dickhead he met a week ago. He is overwhelmingly passive about literally everything personal to him up to and including his own death (provided there are no casualties/there is a good reason) until after the player expresses that they care about him. Astarion is not doing that in any of these fics.

Like Gale is friendly and a dork and doesn't wanna get murdered but he fully has a suicide plan. He thought the artefacts would help him survive but he didn't believe he'd ever truly live again. If Gale confessed and Astarion said/did like one (1) mean thing afterward Gale's romance is closed off forever. He's wandering into the forest to cry. He's killing himself immediately. His fragile ego and self worth can't take it. You have to understand that when we joke about him being pathetic it's not bc he's like. Sopping wet and chasing people down and begging for a scrap of attention. It's because he craves affection but would literally rather die than ask or even hope for it until someone else forces that hope back into his serotonin-deficient tadpole brain.

to me, they have a fine time with it as long as their mouths stay closed. astarion's fangs probably aren't any more in the way for a half-orc than they are for other races. they're not too big, and he's practiced.

i think deeper open-mouth kissing is the real danger because that's when the risk of catching lips and knocking teeth really happens and boy those tusks sure are. just in the way.

imo a little bit of teeth bumping if they forget themselves is cute, it's untapped potential to get teased by the vampire for being too eager. but i also think it's possible to avoid IF they pay attention. :)c

Idk why my recent Tadpoly thoughts seem to take a "Long Distance Relationship" flavour

Like everyone is in love and happy to be together... But they all have their own lives. Everyone goes off and does their own endings, and they just see each other whenever they can.

When they reunite as a group, it's like no one ever left. But most of the time, they communicate via letters, or spells.

Also in my Tadpoly Epilogue:

All characters get their Golden Ending (Shadowheart converts to Selune and has her parents alive, etc) with some of them mixing endings (Wyll especially. Wyll is the Blade of Avernus, but he's not there all the time. When he's not, he's a Archduke in Baldur's Gate, but since his father is still alive, it's okay for him to go once in a while. He has his precious baby girl too. Wyll doesn't go to Avernus as often as he used to before Lily. And he likely won't go back for long until Lily is of school age. Also I have Wyll as a Paladin in the Epilogue. I know he canonly becomes a ranger, I just think Paladin!Wyll makes sense)

It's kinda sad to imagine them dealing with things alone, but they all care about each other.

Also everyone is looking for ways to help the partners with permanent issues: Karlach's engine (at the very least she can get a few months before needing to go back to Avernus), Astarion (curing vampirism is hard, finding ways to mitigate the weaknesses such as sunlight is their main focus) and even Shadowheart, though her pain is mild compared to the former two.

Noah was born into a well-to-do human family in Baldur's Gate- House Aubembert is a noble house full of talented sorcerers serving as earls and countesses; keeping the peace and dispensing justice within the city. This particular family is well-known for being proud members of the social elite as pure-blooded humans. However, a scandal befell upon the family when the current head of the house disrupted generations of blood purity after introducing her only half-elven son as her successor. The countess had taken a high elf as her paramour, which then led to the birth of Noah. The countess had to fight to be able to marry her lover but her family abhorred the idea of letting her go off to marry a commoner. Before she could do anything rash like eloping with the man, her lover had unfortunately been murdered. Noah believes this to be a political scheme to get his mother to finally give up on her commoner lover while the rest of the family insists was an accident.

Years later, his mother married his stepfather and they gave birth to two of his half-sisters. Life before his mother's marriage was a struggle because he was often scrutinised for inheriting the title of the countess' heir despite being her illegitimate son. His stepfather was no better as he would often bad mouth him for the exact same reason. During those few years, he trained and swore fealty to the Church of Tyr where he vowed an Oath of Vengeance to right the wrongs and uphold justice.
