Pokemon QOTCS: Friends of Ash PreCure Forms 2

As Requested by my Good friend MLPFan053, for the Pokémon Quest for the Crystal Skulls Event, We figured Ash shouldn't be the only one to have a Statues as a PreCure, Why not have his Buddies Join on the Action,

Clemont AKA Cure Inventor In this form, Clemont has more knowledge in Technology mixed with the Power of the PreCure's, Even more Advanced then Doctor Traum's Inventions, Even to the point of Creating Robots that Resemble Humans and Animals (Hopfully not going the same way Horizon Zero Dawn did) This is all due to the Blue-Prints inside Clemont's mind, As a PreCure he has the Ability to Take control of Any Machine that can use to his Advantage, He is skilled in Combat with some tricks in his Sleeves, Or in his case, His Bag, He does become the Partner to Tails (For his Costume..... I pretty much took inspiration from the Costume Designs of the Movie TRON: Legacy)

Bonnie AKA Cure Static In this form, Bonnie has the Ability to Control and manipulate Static Electricity, Which can be on the came level as an Electric Type Pokémon, But even she know her Limits as she would be mentored by Cure Peace later on. She can be bit of a Battery for some of Clemont's Attacks.

Serena AKA Cure Guardian In this form Serena isn't just a Protector for her Friends and Ash Ketchum, But she is a powerful PreCure Paladin, Who can use the Holy Light of the Plasma Spark to Heal those in need, But can use it on the Defensive, And her skills in Swords play with her Blade of Holy-Light are on par with Cure Master's Skills in Combat. (Your probably wondering how I was able to come up with her costume...… Well Truth be told I took a massive Gamble and Based aspects of it from this vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/sw…..... And I'm fairly sure many of you know what Series if from, What can I say, I need fresh material and.... gotta Admit, It's a really cool looking Armour set)

86! Damn, that's more than I remember 🙀 I have been writing pretty fervently since I was pretty young, though, and I transferred all my old fics from fanfiction dot net to AO3, so it's a long stretch of time. Resemblance (Naruto) - bro I always forget people really liked this one. Literally an unedited drabble I did in an hour for a "pride month drabble challenge" which I immediately abandoned. Trans rights I guess

Always Wanna Play (But You Never Wanna Lose) (Persona 3) - This one isn't surprising either, and I'm very proud of this fic so I'm quite chuffed to see it get so much attention... thanks everyone :')

The Beat of Your Heart (Zelda) - Now this one surprised me a lot. This was just a little piece for ZeLink week... Another unedited one, I literally was writing it on the toilet in church so I could get it out in time 😭

Comfort (Zelda) - Another ZeLink week piece, but I knew this one was popular. Also unedited, lmao. I was writing it on the day of my AP Calc finals and I rushed through the exam so I could have more time to work on the fic 😭 I made some Choices that year

Do you respond to comments?

I try to! But I get very anxious about it and tend to work myself into a tizzy, so I often put it off for later and then forget, haha. Then I'll go and respond to all my comments from the last few months and feel even weirder about it... T_T

What's the fic with the angstiest ending you've ever written?

Oof. That's... a hard one, haha. I've written a couple of fics without happy endings, though I typically don't. At least three fics which end on a canonical character death, for instance. But I'd say the ending which made me the most emo writing was Butter, a Mother 3 fic. It ends with Lucas, who's like 9, recently lost his mother, then lost his twin brother (and thinks it's his fault), and is now being neglected by his father, crawling into bed and crying. So yeah, pretty bleak, lmao... but at least he doesn't die I guess?

Do you write crossovers?

I do, but I haven't posted many yet. I'm not always huge on writing them, but I do think about them a lot. I was working on this one Persona 3 x Fire Emblem Awakening crossover but I lost steam on it, and now there's a really lovely crossover on AO3 with a similar premise that I was SO delighted to come across!!! Hope y'all don't mind me taking a break from linking my own work to shill for this one, hehe

Have you ever gotten hate on a fic?

Unfortunately, yes, about six times, I'd say. Even more unfortunately, most of those times happened earlier on in my fanfic writing career, and I was pretty sensitive to hate back then, so I deleted many of the relevant fics, and some of them I don't even have access to myself anymore.

Not gonna talk about the ones that are still upsetting, but I will talk about the funny examples: on a (since deleted) RWBY fic, I said in the author's note that I "wrote them as platonic, but the fic can be read as WhiteRose", and then I got a glowing comment gushing about how good the story was which ended with "but then you had to ruin it by shitting all over WhiteRose, how about you [long suicide bait]". Third most baffling comment I've ever received.

The two most baffling were on different fics, but both were making the same weird accusation??? One was on a ZeLink fic (actually, on Comfort, my fifth most kudos'ed fic of all time now), and y'know I think I'm just gonna show you the comment in question:

The other one was on a long-since deleted fic which focused on both a romantic ship, as well as a fatherly relationship between one member of the ship and the other member's father. I guess having a fatherly relationship with your father-in-law makes your boyfriend actually your brother (and therefore you can't date him anymore). IDK man people are crazy. (tbf the commenter in question thought I was setting it up so that he'd get adopted by his boyfriend's parents, which would give them more of a case, but like... that didn't happen in the fic and wasn't going to. they just guessed at a future plot development and got angry about their guess)

Do you write smut?

I do, but I've never posted any. I've posted one fic that was very suggestive, I'd even call it "NSFW" in a sense, but never anything explicit. Maybe I will in the future? We'll see if I can ever finish anything smutty, lmao.

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Yep, I had Ultimatum, my longest chapter-fic (and by far my most popular fic in the ff.n days) stolen and posted on another site by somebody. I reported it but never checked back up to see if it got taken down.

I also feel that I've had my work plagiarized pretty damn blatantly in another fandom (I was browsing a certain AU tag and read one which contained all the exact events and sometimes word-for-word dialogue from a fic of mine, just very very slightly rewritten) but the poster had no other works and their writing was definitely extremely juvenile, so... I figured they were a dumb kid and just decided not to raise a fuss. Checked back later and they deleted it, hopefully because they realized they shouldn't do that, so I figure there's no need to start shit over it. Honestly, if that person used that experience as a jumping-off point to write their own fics, then I'm glad it happened, imitation being the highest form of flattery and all.

Have you ever had a fic translated?

No, though I had someone reach out to me on fanfiction dot net a long time ago and ask permission to translate An Unheard Goodbye, which was super exciting! I agreed, but I don't believe they ever got around to it, or if they did, they never posted it. Still very flattering, and I think about that a lot, hehe.

What’s your all-time favorite ship?

HOW COULD I POSSIBLY ANSWER THIS. UM. UM UH. UHHH UM UH I. UM.

I'm.... gonna say Zelda/Link? I haven't written it in FOREVER but it was such a huge part of me coming into my own as a fanfic author, so I have to give it credit for that.

What’s a WIP that you want to finish, but don’t think you ever will?

.......all of them 😭 god I have so many of these damn things. But for the prime example, I'd point to Ultimatum, an old Pokemon fic that I started in middle school. I got all the way to the climax and I feel bad leaving my readers hanging, but... at this point, if I did continue it, I would honestly have to rewrite the whole fic first just to be in line with my current understanding of the characters.

What are your writing strengths?

Y'know, I think I get character voices down extremely well in a way which elevates my dialogue and narration. That's probably the thing I'm most proud of in my own writing, at least.

What are your writing weaknesses?

BREVITY. Or the utter, glaring lack of it. I have also been known to muddy up my writing with an overabundance of A) adverbs, B) unneeded clauses tacked onto perfectly good sentences, and C) em-dashes 😭

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fics?

I think it's dope as fuck, but I currently can't really accomplish it because I'm monolingual (NOT FOR LONG IF I HAVE ANYTHING TO SAY ABOUT IT, I'M COMING FOR YOU, JAPANESE FLUENCY!!!!). I will also say that I don't like when authors will write characters having a story-important conversation in another language, then put the translations in the end notes or something, requiring you to either read the chapter confused or else keep scrolling back down and back up.... I think even that's totally fine to do if what's being said isn't plot-relevant, though.

What was the first fandom you ever wrote for?

Naruto. I hadn't read or watched Naruto btw, I had only read other Naruto fanfics. I have spoken on this topic many times, but it remains hilarious to me. Also, so many of my old Naruto fics are lost to the Wattpad times, but I will take this opportunity to once again share a quote which I recently managed to unearth from my long-lost unsung magnum opus:

Never ever will I intentionally attain the level of comedy gold that I managed while writing completely dead serious Naruto fanfiction on Wattpad in 2012.

What’s your favorite fic you’ve written so far?

See above. How could I ever top that fic.

In all seriousness, this question always makes me sweat, but I think I'm gonna say Oil, a slightly older fic from my EliHec days which I absolutely obsessed over for months before finally managing to finish. And, unlike most of the fics that I obsess over, I think the obsession actually made it come out better rather than worse, haha.

If your Mews and Twos were to fight to the last breath (and not because they just mentally gave up, I mean fighting with every drop of power that they had), at their adult prime age and perfectly healthy, who would be considered the strongest? Are the Twos equally as godlike as Mews? Or more because they were engineered to be weapons? Or are the lesser in terms of power because they’re unstable and express normal Pokémon DNA that competes with the Mew DNA?

If we were to assume that they all trained evenly and equally, it would be a tie against Indigo and King.

Indigo because his dark typing negates so much psychic energy, miracle eye still works mind you- but added that he's part psychic and resists most of that effects anyway.

However in just straight up pure Power, King would win. Not only does he know more moves than anyone- ash included- but he's not afraid to play dirty. Smack talk, faking tears, screeching. He pushes and pushes and pushes till he wins.

Mews are more godlike than Mewtwos, Mewtwos are technical Demigods but in the eyes of the world and universe they are gods.

There's a tier list.

Arceus is at the very top so we'll call it Z for now

Origin Mew (the first) along with Giratina, Palkia and Dialga are in Tier A

Every Mythical varies, but Mews are in Tier B

Origin Mews that were initially created are in High tier B whereas Normal Mews are low Tier B

Lugia and Xerneas and Reshiram etc - Tier C

Then we have Darkrai's, Moltres and Mewtwos - Tier D

Then we have the smaller legendaries, Swords of Justice, Jirachi, Meloetta all of them fall on the last Tier of Tier E

So while Mewtwos are Gods, they are in Tier D, Strong and powerful and can fight.

However, our Cloned Mews are direct Descendants of Origin. A Pokemon that's in tier A, so being Cloned they should have been Tier D IF they were cloned by a normal Mew.

But they werent.

They are high B because of it. stronger than a Normal Mew vecause of their Line of Descendency

-But weren't the Mews created by Origin? Wouldnt they be considered part of that Descendency?-

Nope! Origin and the other Origin Mews created the Mews to fill in a role. The other Origin Mews arent even directly related to Origin either

They have never had their own Brood before, only creating. The bloodline started and stopped with them.

That is, until King, Spot and Berry came along.

The only ones that had a direct line with Origin. And they were M O R T A L.

Not because their DNA was skewed with mind you. But because you cannot clone Immortality, they would need Origins power to create that.

And by the time they meet, they are much too old for it. That push of power would get them sick at best and kill them at worst.

And that's also what makes SM!Kings immortality so chilling. He wasnt granted that.

It was forced upon him.

made zenkichi's team in showdown a while back. if i could go back and change things i'd max out the the EVs for lycanroc and aegislash. i'd also rename drampa to dramps because i like to think that the kids started calling it that and it stuck.

justifications for each mon:

dusk mane lycanroc (ace mon)- dual nature, wolf (duh), depicted as fussy in the SM anime and capable of entering a "fury" mode (its eyes turn red and all). i also need you to know that i have personal beef with this pokemon, because ash's dusk mane beat my awesome babygirl kahuna nanu's 3 pokemon in a totally unfair and unnatural fashion in ep 77 of the SM anime. despite this, i cannot deny that it is the perfect pokemon for zenkichi hasegawa, and i'd thus bestow the little fucker the honour of being his ace.

relevant dex entries:

(SHIELD) These Pokémon have both calm and ferocious qualities. Their temperamental nature makes them a difficult species to raise

(SWORD) This form of Lycanroc is normally calm and quiet. Once a battle begins, however, this Pokémon displays a ferocious fighting spirit.

drampa: dex entry speaks for itself. i like to think that drampa's the only pokemon that's ever at home with akane anymore- and the only one she still kinda likes. not to say that it's home ALL the time, no. it's probably a weekend mon lol

relevant dex entries:

(ULTRA SUN) If a child it has made friends with is bullied, Drampa will find the bully's house and burn it to the ground.

aegislash: started considering this mon bc of zenkichi's whole "knight in shining armour" bit and his giant ass sword, spiralled into "hey zenkichi's loyalty and devotion and willingness to protect the people he cares about at the expense of his own life IS extremely knightlike huh". i also really like stance change- it mirrors the swap between the defensive/safer playing style of normal zenkichi, and the more aggressive wolf. aegislash also feels like a symbol of service+ a metaphor for zenkichi's objectification into being kaburagi's weapon (attack dog), so i gave aegislash frustration as a means of expressing zenkichi's bitterness in this role. i see him battling with aegislash the most, along with lycanroc.

relevant dex entries: okay not really relevant, because most dex entries talk about how aegislash chooses its master whom it believes will be a great leader. i'm not thinking of zenkichi as one having "innate qualities of leadership", i'm thinking of him AS aegislash, as the sword serving under someone. oh and also here's a life drain mention i guess

(SHIELD) Once upon a time, a king with an Aegislash reigned over the land. His Pokémon eventually drained him of life, and his kingdom fell with him.

mabosstiff: okay i had a whole lot of dog pokemon to sift through because i only wanted to pick one and i think mabosstiff is the best choice- see dex entries. most dog pokemon are cop mons, with the growlithe line being THE cop dog, but only wanted one doggy to represent the police angle of zenkichi (mostly because i think defining him by his profession is extremely uninspired). i also know extremely intimately that the pokemon cops don't use dog pokemon all the time (interpol trio....) but i like the idea of zenkichi sticking to the cop standard. he's still traditional like that, i guess.

(VIOLET) Mabosstiff loves playing with children. Though usually gentle, it takes on an intimidating look when protecting its family.

h. zoroark: (gestures vaguely) a wolf if you squint. the pokedex entry also says it does fucked up (and fucks itself up) shit to protect its young, so that's multiple zenkichisms right there. zenkichi's general dishonesty also makes Lying: the Pokemon® a premier choice for him to me.

relevant dex entries:

(SWORD) This Pokémon cares deeply about others of its kind, and it will conjure terrifying illusions to keep its den and pack safe.

(LEGENDS) ...Heedless of its own safety, Zoroark attacks its nemeses with a bitter energy so intense, it lacerates Zoroark's own body.

annihilape: the mon i'm the iffiest about. i wanted a mon that embodied the prisoner aspect of zenkichi's identity, but there... aren't?? pokemon??? the closest i can think of is like, those bitches from the teal mask dlc, but 1. never played it so i still don't know what the fuck an okidogi is 2. they're kinda ugly. i went with annihilape as the discount prisoner mon (broken shackles). annihilape's rage is a good reflection of zenkichi's fury, and the whole "coming back from the dead" thing is an extra bonus for enduring soul.

AU settings in Unova!

I decided that the pokemon owned here (unless they are from outside Unova or gifted/thrown away by their trainers sad i know) in AU are only pokemon in Unova's national pokedex (BW2)

no Danny can't go on Pokemon adventures officially yet because the protagonist Unova is technically the oldest of all the protagonists in all main timeline games (15-16 years old!) So Danny officially becomes a trainer when he's 15/16 years old :')

AU's main plot:

Plot Hisui:

Let's just say Clockwork wanted Danny to take a vacation from his daily life as a super hero, so here Danny Hisui… Disguised as Danko joined the Galaxy Expedition Team, explored Hisui, researched Hisuian Zorua and Zoroark and met people and new pokemon!

Danny learned a lot about making pokeballs and other equipment. He was taught by Volo and Cyllene very often praised him & She also liked the performance as a member who was very active. He studied more closely about Zoroark & Zorua's abilities so that They could avoid conflicts between humans and Pokemon. in a few moments Danny & Volo were nicknamed "crime boy" by people because sometimes they made lot trouble, on how many occasions Danny found that Volo & Cyllene had a fight and stupidly thought they were kissing, for Danny Volo was a 'big brother' figure because of his nature who is confident and smart sometimes reminds him of Jazz sometimes but Volo is more of an asshole than Jazz and Volo gave him the Zoroark Mask on week 3 at Hisui as a reward for his promotion in Galaxy Expedition Team.

When Danny was going back to his timeline, he said goodbye to everyone and… Should he leave the pokemon he caught here? Clockwork says that he can keep and bring them to his timeline! What a relief! Danny comes back and he realizes he was only gone for 3 days… But he actually spent 3 months at hisui and realized he lost his Zoroark mask! Damn- he can't go back to Clockwork just to take that trivial thing… At the same time Volo who wants to return Danny's zoroark mask only finds snowy land with Danny's footprints.

Meeting Volo's (again):

Danny was exploring the ghost zone to make a map, he didn't invite Sam or Tucker because they were busy so well he was alone exploring the Ghost Zone until suddenly his ship's engine broke down and dropped him to the bottom of the Ghost Zone… When he realized Danny found himself in a place that had very different aura from Ghost zone… The place is full of mirrors and just then Danny is greeted by Giratina who seems quite impressed about Danny species, then Giratina and Danny actively talk a lot they have a lot in common! And Giratina took him somewhere and Danny saw someone familiar… Volo.

Danny & Volo were surprised to see each other… And at the end, after the preamble, Volo told him that he had wanted to destroy the world with Giratina but failed and he was cursed to spend his eternal cursed life, he angry with consuming hatred and obsession with Arcues to survive in the deepest part of the ghost zone… The distorted world, he only interacts with his Pokemon who are also eternally cursed and also Giratina… Sometimes Volo misses a lot of people from his past mass but he realizes he will never meet them again because they are most likely dead sometimes he laments the mask he made for Danny to relieve his boredom… Then he returns Danny's mask to Danny… "I thought I would never return this to you Danko but I'm lucky to be able to return it to you! I will never forget my pather in crime hahahaha!"

In short: Volo Danny escapes from the world of distortion → Volo applies for a job at Fenton Work → Volo becomes the best employee and gets Maddie & Jack's sympathy → VOLO IS ADOPT BY THE FENTON!!!

I forgot to mention that Volo grew Fenton Works business very fast and became the best employee ever!

Me having a little crush on Mewtwo as a kid isn’t weird, what’s weird is that you DIDNT have a little crush on Mewtwo as a kid ok?

Swsh isn’t badly written you guys just completely ignore every non-required area and text box. You wouldn’t know environmental storytelling if it whacked you upside the head.

Paul was the best anime rival, no one stands up to him. His character arc was the best written, his battles had the highest stakes, and best of all he wasn’t fucking annoying!

Iris was the worst anime companion, by far. She did nothing but bully Ash the entire season despite being awful at her own chosen trainer path and it ruined it for me. Girl don’t sit around talking shit when you suck ass at everything!

Fairy should have been weak to bug. Fairy was introduced to be a balancing type by being weak to lesser used types and immune to the strongest type and then made bug WORSE? Fuck off. That makes no sense and it doesn’t even work that well in lore. It could go either way and make just as much sense.

Vanilluxe isn’t even ugly you guys are just haters for no reason AND I think it should get a really cool mega in Z-A based on a sundae and become extremely powerful and viable because FUCK YOU

The Machop line however IS ugly. You do not get to be mad about Incineroar or Meowscarada being too humanoid when that is literally just a man in his undies, and he’s not even cute. Machamp gets a half pass cause the extra arms make it less uncanny but the weird ring around the mouth needs to go, the shorts need to be better integrated into the design (I think gigantimax machamp does a good job of this by blending them down into the color of the legs) and the shinies of the entire line need to be literally any other color but puke green. Either make them all bright green like machamp or skip the green entirely and go dark red. Or a dark gray. Or blue!

Speaking of shinies, green shinies get too much hate. Espeon and teddiursa are cool. Meanwhile yellow shinies usually don’t look yellow at all they look chartreuse and sickly. Like Groudon! Groudon should have a goldenrod color not that abysmal eyesore.

Haxorous did NOT make the jump to 3D well. It just looks a little off and I can’t get over it.

And anyway here’s my regularly scheduled rant about some bullshit because I’m replaying Sword rn and tried to use more mobs I haven’t used before and came across some. Weird bullshit.

Did you know that in swsh ninjask doesn’t learn a single flying type move by level up once it evolves? What the fuck kind of decision was that???? give me SOMETHING I’m DYING OVER HERE.

It technically DOES get Aerial ace by level up but it’s one if those “level 1” moves that you have to get at the move reminder which I forgot was accessible from the start in this game. So I did a bunch of watt grinding yesterday to get a play rough TR for my Tsareena for my Bea fight for no reason and STILL nearly got swept?

And anyway why is that the only one it gets? Why is talking to an npc a requirement to get the ONLY flying move in this Pokémon’s level up moves. Why doesn’t it learn a flying type move upon evolving or in the levels directly after like any normal mon would upon gaining the flying type? It feels really weird and unnecessary. Just swap out the agility level up move for aerial ace, this mon has speed boost it doesn’t need agility.

And then in TM moves it only gets aerial ace (which it already has anyway) air slash (special aka useless on this mom) and acrobatics, Those are its only flying moves which is its better offensive typing! It learns DIG but not fly, peck, wing attack, or pluck?

And in BDSP it’s tm moves get kneecapped! It LOOSES acrobatics and air slash! WHY???? FOR WHAT REASON??? Like sure, it has ROOST and DEFOG now but those DONT DO DAMAGE????

It would have been better for the tms to be roost and acrobatics in the first place. Those are actually useful. But it doesn’t ever get both in gen 8. I could build a seriously annoying ninjask with a focus sash/a berry, roost, acrobatics, leech life, and aerial ace. Pop the sash or berry so acrobatics is increased, aerial ace never misses, leech life and roost heal me. Leech life alone makes it much less of a glass cannon, could you imagine if it got ALL of these moves at once? We were robbed. You can’t give us improved leech life and then not let us build the most annoying asshole bug ever!

And most of its sound based moves are relegated to tm only which is weird considering it’s a CICADA, the bug primarily known for being LOUD. Like they aren’t useful cause they’ve special moves but it should get bug buzz by level up at least. Having screech be its only sound based level up move is just a weird choice, lore wise.

Also its other level up moves are trash. Mind reader is made completely redundant by aerial ace, and doesn’t even make much sense lore wise, it gets like maybe 6 moves between evolving and its last move which ends up being one move every 10 levels or so which is mid at best, and its best bug stab is learned at level 64… or tm which you’ll almost always be doing instead.

Mind reader should be replaced by bug buzz, and there should be another move at around 38-40 that should probably be a coverage move like shadow claw or night slash. It has precedent for learning grass moves too so leaf blade is an option as well though it’s a little bit more powerful so I’d swap its placement with Slash at lv. 50

Anyway quit kneecapping otherwise usable pokemon with nonsensical movesets.

Oh this is gonna be a lot easier, lol.

-I feel like lot of criticisms of Pokemon as a story are in bad faith. Pokemon is a setting, not a cohesive narrative. It's a world. It is large, has a lot of things in it, and things happen in that world. Some of the things are cool, others are stupid. Just like in real life. I personally think that's what makes it so much fun. (I also LOVE reading fanfictions and worldbuilding head canons for it.)

-Mewtwo isn't overrated. It left a lasting impression with a lot of people because they are to date the singular Pokemon with the most consistent and complex characterization. Most Pokemon, especially in the games, are not characters. They are episodic plot devices/mcguffins or effectively toys with stat-sheets. We project characterization onto them through our own experiences playing the games, which is why a lot of fans have different favorites or personal stories to go along with them. Which is fine in its own right! But there's no canon answer to where your starter Pokemon in your first game came from, or what its story is before meeting you. We all know Mewtwo's story, which makes them a legitimate character and fun to talk about. (Obviously there's exceptions like Ash's Pikachu or Team Rocket's Meowth, but I couldn't tell you a damn thing about my Ceruledge in Pokemon Violet, even though I love it to bits.)

-I don't think most Pokemon translate well into a realistic art style. I liked Detective Pikachu as a movie, quite a lot actually, but most of the Pokemon designs in that movie are either unsatisfying to look at or kind of creepy. I still want there to be another movie though.

-I didn't finish Pokemon Sword because I didn't like the soccer aesthetic. I don't know if this is unpopular or not though.

-It's absolutely criminal that I can't find merch of Finizen or Palafin on the Pokemon Center website.

-This is probably just a me thing but I find it a bit disappointing that a lot of people who want to bring Pokemon in D&D want to make their setting basically only Pokemon. Bring Pokemon into the Forgotten Realms! It'll be fun! Imagine mind flayers making a Pokemon go through Ceremorphosis! Have a wizard do some rules-lawyering to enter himself into a Pokemon tournament!

-I love when humans try fighting Pokemon in canon and I wish it would happen more. This might just be the Floridawoman in me, but people are weird and we like to fight things.

Edit: I have another one. Whatever team does the setting art design for the Pokemon movies needs to be brought on to help out with the games. The Pokemon movies, both the good and the bad ones consistently have beautiful backgrounds and props. If the games insist on going in the open world direction, they could definitely use the help with set design.

What's the thought process behind Calem and Doublade? Definitely not against it at all but I do wanna know why you associate them so heavily

Calem’s final team in game consists of: Meowstick, Absol, Clefable, Altaria, [one of the gen1 eevee evolutions], and his starter.

My True Calem team run consisted of: Meowstic, Absol, Doublade, Honchkrow, Vaporeon, Greninja.

I only swapped out two, and those two are the final additions to his team: Clefable and Altaria.

There is multiple reasons why I ended up not connecting with Clefable and Altaria, primarily because they only come in at the end and don’t get much in way of screen time to tell me what type of bond Calem forms with them.

They are last minute team additions that don’t carry a meaning, we watched the rest of his team grow with him. These two just show up-

Ultimately this makes me find them as unfitting for the personality Rival Calem displays, seeming more like Rival Serena picks than anything else. So, I made a team switch. And in order to make a team switch i need to decipher the one thing that truly matters from an outside view:

The aesthetics

Not like- actual aesthetics- metaphorical aesthetics. I’m not gonna pull out a Doublade moodboard-

Doublade is a pokemon that is best characterized by it’s strategy, see the shield dex entry,

The two swords employ a strategy of rapidly alternating between offense and defense to bring down their prey.

Calem prides himself in strategy, in pokemon masters he is a Tech user in his base pairing, a Support in his Neo champion, and a Tech again with his EX roll.

All these pairs have a common ground, status effects, field control, and ability. All things that make a strategist.

He isn’t going fist first, he doesn’t battle with an immature mindset of damage first think later, he thinks about counter play, he tries to predict, and he tries to prevent.

It’s only natural knowing he is the son of two veteran trainers who taught him everything going off what Shauna says.

And with his losing streak to Serena, I’d say he probably thinks too hard. He puts too much thought into doing the most that he gets countered by her doing the least. He reverses the psychology too many times and ultimately loses because he made himself vulnerable.

So a sword based in strategy only seems fitting for a young man who puts his entire future in being a strong trainer.

It’s also a meta pick- or its final evolution is at least. the honedge line is known to be strong.

If ash and pikachu taught me anything: choosing to not evolve your pokemon and winning with its pre-evolved form is proof of a proper bond between trainer and pokemon.

Dusk stones are hard to find and Calem should prioritize region travel with fly over battle, especially during the crisis with Team Flare when he never knows when he needs to up and leave to help his neighbor save the world. Using the stone on his Murkrow rather than his Doublade.

Calem already has a strong link to supernatural types in my mind, Absol being dark, Meowstic being psychic, it’s something I wanted to turn into a theme. A pattern I wanted to form and then follow.

Not to mention his friendship in pasio to ghost type specialist Acerola, the sheer amount of links to the supernatural region wide with an entire town being known as otherworldly, and the fandom association to hex maniacs which ultimately becomes so common that it wiggles into our subconscious-

-which might also very well be a reason i chose Doublade for Calem.

I’ve seen so much art of Calem with members of the Honedge line, it only felt natural.

Doublade is in the shape of an X, Calem is associated to pokemon X specifically, and in the manga Calem’s counterpart is named X.

Pokémon stuff

I made an oops and first put this on my WOF only sub blog, so here we are again.

To break up my dragon drawing and animating time I did some Pokemon like I wanted to. Full disclosure: I only ever played Pokemon Diamond (I also played some Mystery Dungeon but that's not a main-line game). Any way, these are the starter and the version/box-art legendary I would have gone with had I been able to play all of the versions. And it's the form of the starter I like the best not including megas. It's just the main-line, for remakes consider that I'd take the same guy again. You'll noticed I like three things that really influence my decisions: reptile, bird, and round. So have some limited explanations as to my choices.

Red: charizard because it's a cool dragon and I like Mew a lot from the first movie so I wanted to draw it. I also loved Ash's sassy Charizard who was too cool to listen to him.

Silver: Lugia is a fish bird and Tododile is smol chompy dude.

Emerald: Rayquaza speaks for itself and the mega is tight. Grovyle was so cool in the anime and in the mystery dungeon games.

Diamond: The only one I actually played and I thought Dialga looked awesome. Piplup is round bird number 1.

White 2: I didn't really find myself drawn to any of the starters but Samurott was kinda interesting. White Kyurem is dope.

Y: Ash's Greninja was wicked and I like the Y shaped bird guy.

Moon: Bat and round bird number 2

Let's Go Evee: Lefeon is very cute and Mewtwo is also cool so I drew it.

Sword: Sobble is round and sad, very cute. I didn't like either legendary very much, but this dog had a sword.

Legends: Oh my gosh high Typhlosion is maybe my favorite of the bunch ever. And god of course.

Scarlet: I love the lizard bike that runs even though it has wheels. I also love round chomper. He wants upsies.

I will draw some more. I haven't drawn Pokemon in maybe ten years. And for many of these buggers it was the first time I ever drew them. So I stuck to sketches. I also want a Poke-sona. I'm thinking a dragon of sorts, maybe Dragonite, Flygon, or Salamance?

Okay! Found this on my feed and I while I never had this sent to me, I still wanted to do it. I’ve only written about 7 fics on ao3 total, but here’s my top five fanfics I’ve either enjoyed writing, got an unexpected amount of traction, or idk, ones I just think are cool. Note that most of these are from Genshin Impact and that they are ranked by highest (1) to lowest (5).

1. Time Heals All Wounds (Genshin Impact)

Diluc & Kaeya reconciliation fic! This was actually the fanfiction that made me realize how much I love writing light angst or hurt/comfort. To sum it up in a nutshell, Kaeya is teaching Bennett how to use a sword and Bennett (with how unlucky he is) accidentally stabs him. Meanwhile, Diluc finds out about what happens through random word of mouth and goes to see him in the infirmary (which later leads to a little reconcile between them). After I posted this, I felt a little crummy about what I thought was a rushed ending, but to my surprise, this became my most popular fanfic that I’ve posted with nearly 300 kudos as of September 2023.

2. Can We Keep It? (Genshin Impact)

As an animal lover, I nearly died from cuteness overload while writing this one. Basically, Cyno finds a orphaned/injured baby fennec fox in the desert and brings it home to Tighnari and Collei. While Tighnari seems less than fond of keeping a wild animal in the house, the little fox becomes attached to him. Overall, very cute and fluffy with some found family elements to it as well. Also worth mentioning that this was my first M/M fic, so there’s that.

3. Blasting Off For Good (Pokemon)

After it was announced that Ash and co would be leaving the Pokémon anime, I felt that something needed to be done as a way of sending them off in the form of a “happy ending” style fic. It centers around Team Rocket, who realizes that now that the “twerp” and Pikachu are finished with their journey, that they should end theirs as well by quitting Team Rocket and settling down (As a family, because we’re back at it again with the found family trope). Fast forward 5 years and Jessie and James (and Meowth) are moving into their first home with a baby on the way, when they see a teenage Ash and Misty “loitering” outside their home. Anyway, I honestly really love how this fanfic turned out, and with the dub of “To Be A Pokemon Master” recently airing in my country on Netflix, I (might) be inspired to make a second part soon!

4. First Snow (Genshin Impact)

Again, an absolutely adorable one to write (and read). A ragbros fic taking place 13 years in the past at Dawn Winery, a young Diluc and Kaeya experience the first snow of the season and celebrate by playing in the snow together. Meanwhile, Crepus reminisces fondly about him and his deceased wife (Diluc’s mother) and how she loved walking in the snow with him. This was actually a reupload from a discontinued multi-chapter winter fic I tried to do, I only released two chapters, but when I decided to discontinue it, I liked this one the best so I kept it.

5. Here For You, Forever And Always (Honkai: Star Rail)

More light angst and hurt/comfort, baby! When Honkai: Star Rail released earlier this year, I absolutely fell in love with the dynamic of the Astral Express Trio. At the time, I’d wanted to write a panic attack comfort fic for a long time, and decided to do one with Stelle (the main character), thrown in with some themes of friendship, anxiety and homesickness. While I’m don’t really consider myself as involved with the Honkai: Star Rail fandom as much as I was when it first came out, I still would consider this an overall sweet and enjoyable read.

So was anyone else absolutely devastated when we got pokemon Journey's instead of pokemon Sword and Shield?

Especially when they made it the last series with Ash Ketchum in it.

Personally, the first pokemon game I played was Sun and Moon, and I loved watching that, and then comparing the game to the anime. And then I played Sword and Shield, and I was so happy to do that again!

Only for them to come out with something called Journey's? Okay, maybe they just changed up the name. Nope.

Instead of ash going through and competing in a league and getting badges from my favorite leaders (and I loved the sword and shield badges, so that was sad as well) he instead focuses on researching with battling... More on the side? And he isn't in a league, he was in tournaments.

And then his travelling partner-sorry "research buddy"- goes against everything Ash has done since the first series! He's just focused on catching pokemon. He doesn't bond with them, doesn't battle with them, just catches. And he doesn't even battle them to catch them- the first thing that Misty tells Ash to do.

And I understand that the "Journey's" part was probably so that the writers could make sure every character and travelling companion could get some more screentime before Ash retires, but that could have been done in other ways. He didn't have to travel to their region, they could have been in Galar for one reason or another. Or Ash could have called them for help against particularly tough gym leaders. Or they could have shown up to congratulate him on winning the Galar League- which Ash would have done if it existed.

But instead, none of that happened. Instead we got a show based on Pokemon Go, of all adaptations. We got a show where Ash is travelling with one person, Goh, who's only goal is to catch every pokemon and fill up the Pokedex. He doesn't have any interest in bonding with his pokemon. Or battling with them to catch them. Or making each pokemon stronger. Lord, Goh doesn't even want to catch the pokemon to study them! He just wants to catch every pokemon in the Pokedex because he thinks that'll make him able to catch Mew. Which isn't even a guarantee of something that could be possible.

TLDR: I'm still salty that the last pokemon series was based on Pokemon Go and not Pokemon Sword and Shield
