hell yess it does, now warning i've never written for sadie so this might be terrible but i gave it a go! i hope you enjoy this!! :))
----------------------------------
Gosh you absolutely hated your father sometimes. Not only had he ruined your plan for a relaxing weekend but he had dragged you off to one of his business parties again.
You had all these plans to get new dresses fitted at the tailor in Blackwater before heading home for a warm bath on your families Estate. You were so excited too, since the entire property would be yours for three days. Granted that didn’t include the array of maids, bodyguards and groundkeepers that worked on the Estate but for three peaceful days both your parents and siblings would be out of your hair.
That was until you received a letter from you father requesting you be dressed in your finest gown and make your way to Saint Denis immediately in order to arrive by sundown. Your family had been in the oil industry for many generations now and were extremely wealthy, even more so with the downfall of Leviticus Cornwall and these business parties were just one of the many responsibilities you had to attend to.
The whole point of the party is to make polite pleasantries with potential business partners and establish connections on to where your family’s company could grow. And it was so, so boring.
As you walk down the steps you see a young woman leaning against the carriage with a shotgun in hand. She’s dressed in slacks and a red waistcoat and a large leather jacket draped over her shoulders. Her beautiful golden hair is just peaking out from underneath her hat and her soft amber eyes match it perfectly. Wait a minute…beautiful??
“Who the hell are you?”
You hear her scoff before she rolls her eyes at your bluntness, some may call it rude but you’ve always preferred blunt or honest. Your father always told you that was more lady-like.
“Don’t get so upset Missy, I’m Sadie, your bodyguard until the regular guy comes back. I’m only here to take you to Saint Denis and I’ll be long gone.”
You huff angrily as you hold your hand out to her waiting for her to help you onto the carriage but she never does. Fine, you’ll do it yourself.
“It’s Madam to you and his name is Hamish.”
You hear her mumble a ‘whatever’ under your breath and get comfortable in the carriage. You signal to the driver up front to get the carriage moving as you watch Sadie mount her horse and ride up front. It was going to be a long ride to Saint Denis.
-
To say the ride was long was an understatement. You spent the first two hours staring at the seconds go by on your platinum gold pocket watch and twiddling with the ends of the ribbon in your hair. It was all rather boring until there was yelling from outside.
Fear wells in your stomach at the riders approaching, all heavily armed and with a murderous look in their eye. You anxiously grip the side of the carriage, looking out the window as Sadie and the two other guards aim their weapons high.
When the shooting starts, you hide between the lush velvet seats of the carriage, doing your best to avoid the gunfire. You’d never been one to defend yourself, its why your father had guards do it for you. You could’ve never matched to a woman like Sadie. So you’re complimenting her now? You’re in the middle of being shot at!
All your thoughts are interrupted by a scream, one you’ve now realised is your own as the carriage is flipped and sent you flying. Your back hits the door which barges open under the force of your body hitting it, leaving you lying in a puddle of mud.
You’re frozen for a moment, your body still trying to catch up with your adrenaline riddled mind. What the hell just happened?
Eventually the shooting stops and Sadie is running over to you in a panic to see if you’re okay. Her hair has fallen from her pony tail and strands of her blond hair blow over red cheeks from running.
“Are you alright?!”
“You ruined my dress, look at it! I can’t go to the party like this— and my hair! Oh my god my hair!”
Sadie stops dead in her tracks. Here she was worrying over your safety after not only saving your life but putting her own at risk and you’re more worried about your hair.
“Now listen here Missy, I did not put my ass on the line to save you just so you could whine about your— Oh jeez you’re bleeding.”
She rips her leather glove off with her teeth before bringing her surprisingly soft hand to your face. Its then you realise the cut on your cheek bone that must have come from the shattered glass of the window when you fell out.
You’re lost for words, mumbling incoherently under her touch as she takes the ribbon from your hair and begins to use it to stop the small trickle of blood there. She’s so concentrated and focused on your wound that you can’t help but blush under her intense gaze, feeling like the fool for speaking out.
“I’m sorry…”
She sighs, dropping the bloodied ribbon and puts her gloves back on.
“Ain’t nothing to be sorry for Missy, common now, let’s get you to the party.”
She takes your hand and leads you to her horse which is huge up close. Much larger than when you saw it back at the Estate. Her arm comes to wrap around your waist so she can hoist you up and sit you side saddle on her horse before hopping on herself.
When she starts riding you nearly fall of the large creature and wrap your arms around her waist out of fear of slipping. Sadie voiced that she didn’t mind you holding on and the rest of the ride was spent making pleasant small talk.
You learnt that Sadie’s horse was called Hera and that she was her pride and joy. She worked in all sorts of jobs as a gun for hire, working as a bounty hunter and personal body guard most of the time, she even told you of her most recent bounty of Shane Finley.
You were amazed at how brave and wild Sadie was. How she didn’t fear working on a job that could get her killed at any moment, no she didn’t shy away from it— instead she ran straight towards danger.
“I feel like such a bore compared to you, all I do is attend parties and lounge around the Estate all day. When I’m feeling extra adventurous its a trip to the store for some cakes and maybe a new dress not hunting and killing.”
You can hear her smile in front of you, a little laugh coming from under her nose.
“I’ve met plenty’a boring rich folk Missy, you are not one of them. For starters most of them don’t find themselves falling out of carriage windows on their way to dinner parties.”
The playful tone is enjoyable for you both and it continues through the rest of the ride. It seems like ‘Missy’ is a nickname that’ll be sticking with you for the meantime but you’d be lying if you said you didn’t like the way it made you smile and your heart skip a beat.
-
It was dark by the time Sadie pulled up to the party, hitching Hera and this time, taking your hand to help you down. Her hand didn’t leave yours until you were standing out the front gates where she dusted as much of the mud off your dress as she could muster. Her hand came to her neckerchief and untied it before ripping it in half.
You gasp at what she was doing to the fine fabric before she was tying it in your hair where the ribbon had sat, tucking the loose strand behind your ear.
“Now you’re looking like a real lady.”
She gives you a gentle nod before making her way back over to her horse.
“Wait! You’re not coming in? I thought you were gonna protect me?”
Sadie gives you a soft but broken smile, one that says she’s trying not to hurt your feelings.
“I handle outlaws and thieves not parties for the rich, you’ll handle yourself just fine Missy. Ain’t no more for me to do I’m afraid.”
You take her hand in yours squeezing it in a silent plea for her to stay. Despite the rough beginnings, you’re actually enjoying her company and would hate to see her leave.
“Will you wait for me…please?”
-
When the party ends you sigh defeatedly. You’re tired and worn out from today’s attempted robbery and excruciating party. You’re expecting to do home in one of your father’s carriages when you spot Sadie leaning against wall with a cigarette in her hand.
“Common Missy, It’s my job to see you home safe.”
That night as Sadie led you home on the back of Hera, your arms came to wrap around her as they had before. You cuddled up to her as you let out a soft yawn and slowly began to drift off to sleep. Your head rested on her shoulder as you slowly let sleep consume you, a large smile on your face.
Needless to say you now have a new personal body guard.

Tangled the Series is canon to the Original film, correct? I know that all TV spin offs aren’t perfect and that some series’ throughout Disney history aren’t perfect and some might have plot holes, but despicable being written by different studios, TTS is still part of the Tangled franchise, and as long as spin offs, sequels, prequels, etc are part of the franchise and licensed by Disney, than all the events that happen in the sequels and TV series’ happen in the Tangled Universe, like the movie
I've answered similar questions like this before, but I'll hit this one up because it's important to me that people understand this:
You are not wrong, technically, in the exclusivity of the Tangled franchise as a franchise unto itself. However, Disney seems to hold various tiers of what they consider canon and when.
Movies and shorts released in the theaters are considered top-tier canon. These are the standards to which all else are held. The events of Tangled and Tangled Ever After are the things that the series needs to not contradict in order to be considered canon. When face characters at the theme parks go through character training, these are the media they are required to watch to get their characterizations right. They are not required to watch the series. There are those who choose to, either through love of Tangled and/or for supplemental material on their characters that they want to know for better guest experiences, but I think the very most that's even suggested of them is to know the names "Cassandra" and "Varian", if that. I've had face character encounters where they knew the series inside and out, and I've had face character experiences where they were completely clueless.
That being said, within the confines of the Tangled video media franchise (more on this specific wording later), the series is considered canon, so long as it doesn't contradict events of the theatrically-released things. You are unlikely to ever see a video game tie-in (for example, Kingdom Hearts) that includes events and characters from the series, because the series is second-tier canon. (It could be argued that the entire series is an AU, though, because the tear she cries at the end of the movie is supposed to be the last of her magic, but since it's never canonically stated in the movie or wedding short that she no longer had any traces of the Sundrop in her, the series did not actually contradict that.) There are things in the series that are considered canon across the board, now, such as the kingdom's name being Corona (while that was in pre-production stuff, it was never stated in the movie and was not technically canon - even Nathan Greno said that he never thought of the kingdom as being called Corona), and Arianna and Frederic's names being Arianna and Frederic (those are completely unique to the series, and were not named in movie preproduction art at all). However, above and beyond be licensed by Disney, Disney approached Chris Sonnenburg and Shane Prigmore to create the series. It was not just licensed, it was requested.
Then we come to things like books (eg Rapunzel and the Lost Lagoon, The Rise of Flynn Rider), and those are not canon, even if the author got notes from people who worked on the movie or show. This also goes for the comics. All purely written/illustrated media are not canon (in terms of Tangled). I personally read these things for enjoyment, but take the info in them with a grain of salt. Within the preview we got of The Rise of Flynn Rider a few months ago, I've already found things that contradict canon, so I will definitely be picking and choosing the parts of that that I consider "true" backstory for Eugene and Lance.
I hope this clears things up for you.

Tiny Pretty Phantoms
Charlie Gillespie x Reader
Title: Tiny Pretty Phantoms
Words: 2241 (only a short one)
Summary: Charlie and his girlfriend are separated by work.
Requested: Sort of. The lovely and talented @dream-a-little-bigger-x got this request. Charlie x reader where the reader is on a tv show like ahs or something that’s not necessarily “kid friendly”. But as she’s not taking them atm, I decided to swipe this one. I hope the anon who requested it doesn’t mind.
TW: Swearing, alluding to sexual intercourse. That’s it I think. If I miss anything, message me so I can edit.
Author’s notes: I’m baccccckkkk. This was my way of getting back into writing reader fic. It’s been a while, and I hope y’all haven’t forgotten me. Also, while I’ve seen Tiny Pretty Things, I know nothing about the cast, so anything I’ve written, is completely made up.
Being back at home in my parent’s home was both reassuring and strange all at the same time. I’d been living in L.A. for almost two years, hundreds of miles away from home. While I missed my family like crazy, I loved being out in the world, being independent, and chasing my dreams.
However, rejection after rejection after rejection were beginning to weigh heavy on me and I had been starting to regret making the move. I’d been considering heading back home and teaching dance to kids. Then, I met Charlie through a mutual friend.
From the moment I met him, there was something that drew me to him; it wasn’t particularly hard. He was charismatic, funny, and crazy talented. The good looks were an added bonus. From that first meeting, we’d been inseparable and after six months, I gave up my apartment and moved in with Charlie and his friends.
We both booked jobs on upcoming TV shows within a week of one another, and we’d celebrated the news hard. A week of partying with your friends had wrecked the apartment, but it had totally been worth it. The main difference between our shows were the target audience. His, Julie and the Phantoms was aimed at a younger demographic to mine, Tiny Pretty Things. I was just glad to be using my ballet background as well as my acting abilities. He was also playing a main character, while I was to be in the background.
I was jolted from my memories by my phone ringing, Charlie’s face filling the screen. With a smile, I answered the facetime call.
“Hey, you.”
“Hey, babe. I miss you.” Charlie was still in L.A., but he was at a boot camp thing that the legendary Kenny Ortega was running.
“I miss you too. How’s it going?” in answer to my question, he held up his hand. I could see band aids wrapped around his fingers. “What did you do?”
“It’s nothing. Guitar war wounds.”
“Poor baby.” I snarked, grinning at the mock upset look on his face. “Oh please. You’re loving every minute.”
“Babe, I really am.” His grin was wide. “When do you fly out to Toronto?”
“Not for another three weeks. I’m back in L.A. the day after tomorrow though. Will I get to see you?”
“I don’t know. I’m not sure if we get any time off before we head up to Vancouver for filming.”
I couldn’t help the groan that escaped me. I hadn’t seen him for over two weeks, and I was going insane. It was one of the reasons behind my trip to see my family. They were enough to distract me, at least until I climbed into my childhood bed, the bed that only held me at night. That was when I missed him the most.
“That sucks.” I felt the lump in my throat, an indication I was close to tears.
“I know, babe. I know. I’m gonna try and get back, even if it’s just one night.”
“Please do.” I missed him, missed waking up next to him, missed just goofing around and hanging out with him. He was the man I loved, and I hated us being apart.
:: ::
I’d been in Toronto for almost six weeks. A month and a half had passed since I last saw Charlie, and it was killing me. It wasn’t as if I was alone, far from it. I may not have been playing a main character, but the entire cast of Tiny Pretty Things were close, even those of us in the background. We’d all been put through our dancing paces until we were exhausted – that had a habit of bringing people together.
Charlie and I spoke most days, if we could, and when we did, we were often interrupted by cast mates. Through our facetime calls I became friends with Jeremy, Owen, and Madison, and he became friends with the girls I was rooming with, and Brendan who played Shane. He and I had been partnered up during rehearsals and had become close. It didn’t bother him I wasn’t a main character and he was.
I had a rare night off while the main cast were working hard on some night scenes, so I was able to kick back in my room and relax. And I made the most of it. While a hot bath was running, I connected my phone up to my speaker and hit play on a relaxing playlist Charlie had made for me before we’d had to say our goodbyes and fly to opposite end of Canada.
I’d just sank into the steaming water, bubbles up to my chin when my phone rang. Reaching over, I managed to pick it up, and saw Charlie’s face on the screen. Quickly swiping, I answered the call, despite wanting to stare at the photo I’d taken almost a year ago when we’d gone camping.
“Well, if I’d have known you were in the tub, I would have called sooner.” He grinned as he spoke, making me roll my eyes.
“Charles Gillespie, you’re a damn perv.” I attempted to scold him as he pretended to try and look around the screen to see if he could see anything. Joke was on him, the bubbles came up to my neck.
“Only for you.” I laughed at the corny line. “Hey, why are you in the bath anyways?”
“Because I ache like a motherfucker and I don’t have any night shoots tonight. So, a hot bath is in order. I’ve been dancing almost non-stop for ten hours a day for six weeks. I never did this much when I was with the company.” I knew I was whining; knew I sounded like a petulant child, but I needed to get it off my chest. All of us in the cast moaned to one another, but it wasn’t the same as venting to my boyfriend, no matter how much I loved my job.
“I’m sorry, babe. If I could take the aches away, I would.” I knew he would too.
“I know. Ignore me, I shouldn’t be putting this on you. How’s your set?”
We chatted for almost an hour, Charlie making me laugh about his previous night’s filming eating what he said felt like hundreds of cold hot dogs, making me laugh so much, my stomach was starting to hurt when I climbed out of the bath – much to his enjoyment – and wrapped myself up in a large, soft towel. We carried on talking as I made my way into my room and got myself ready for bed.
“Look, I gotta go. But I’ll call you tomorrow?”
“Yeah.”
“I love you.”
“I love you too.” I couldn’t help but sigh when the call ended, and as I snuggled up in bed, wearing one of his t-shirts, I also couldn’t help crying. It was the longest we’d been apart in over six months, and even though I was loving my job, it hurt how much I missed him.
:: ::
When I walked onto set the following day, it felt as if everyone was acting a little shifty. No one seemed to look at me directly and whenever I initiated a conversation, they either found something else to do, or the director made us begin working.
“Hey, we’re all going out for dinner and karaoke tonight. Make sure you look pretty.” Brendan whispered in my ear as we got into position in the ballet class, ready for our scene.
“Uh, okay. Sure.” He gave me a smile before walking away.
We’d all be out a few times during filming and the rehearsals we’d had before, but this was the first I’d heard about plans for tonight. Rolling my neck and stretching my arms, I put it out of my mind as I followed the instructions of the director as the scene began around me.
By the end of the day, I was yet again exhausted, and the last thing I wanted to do was go out. But, as I packed up my gear, putting my comfiest shoes on, Brendan came over.
“Don’t forget we’re going out. We’re all meeting up in about an hour. Make yourself pretty.”
“Can I give it a miss? I’m ready to have a shower and crawl into bed.” He knew how I was feeling, I could see it etched onto his face too.
“Not tonight, sweetheart. Attendance is mandatory for all.” He flashed me a wide smile before spinning away from me, no doubt off to get ready.
When I got back to the apartment I was sharing with a couple of the other female background cast, they were almost ready. The three of them ushered me into the bathroom to shower, telling me to find a nice dress.
The shower did reinvigorate me, and by the time I was dressed and applying my make-up, I was feeling much better, and was even looking forward to some great food and a good night. There were no shoots the next day, so we were able to let our hair down for the night.
When we all met up, the atmosphere was electric. We’d all worked so hard, and were more than ready for a night of not having to worry about getting up early or having to be in hair and make-up at the crack of dawn.
“Ready for a great night?” Brendan asked, linking arms with me as our huge group began to walk to a restaurant nearby we’d all been to on more than one occasion.
“I am actually. Thanks for making me come.”
“No worries, sweetheart.” He placed a kiss on the top of my head before turning to talk to the two guys behind us.
:: ::
Moving from the restaurant after dinner, we all made our way to a club where all of us were able to let go. I got myself a drink from the bar, and stood on the edge of the dance floor, watching my cast mates and friends having the time of their life, showing off their dancing skills. Laughing, I finished my drink, I put my empty glass down and joined them, losing myself in the deep bass. Brendan was in the center, lapping up the attention in a way only he could. He and Barton, who played Oren in the show, were busting out one of their routines from the show and had attracted a hell of a crowd.
As everyone whooped and hollered, I moved away, needing to head to the bathroom. I pulled my phone out of my purse to check if I’d missed any messages or calls from Charlie, but my screen was blank beyond a photo of the two of us. Disappointment flooded me as I shoved the phone back into my purse. Just as I zipped it up, I crashed into someone, strong hands grabbing my waist to stop me falling over.
Thinking my mind was playing tricks on me as my senses were invaded by the aroma of Charlie, the aroma I knew as well as my own. I looked up to find my boyfriend smiling down at me.
“What… how… huh?”
“Surprise, by airplane, Brendan organized it. Hew knew you were missing me as much as I missed you, So Kenny gave me a couple days off while Madi does some scenes with Jadah.”
“You’re really here?” I still wasn’t sure I was hallucinating.
“I’m really here, until tomorrow afternoon.”
With a squeal, I flung my arms around his neck, and kissed him. The evening suddenly got one hundred percent better.
:: ::
Waking up wrapped up in Charlie’s arms was the best thing. I’d missed it so much, and I knew I was going to struggle when he had to leave again, but I felt so happy being with him.
After he’d surprised me at the club, we’d mingled with my friends for a while before slinking away, going back to the apartment and making the most of the quiet as we got reacquainted with one another, multiple times, all night. So much so that when I managed to untangle myself from Charlie’s arms and legs to go to the bathroom, I ached in a completely different way I had been from work.
Once I was finished in the bathroom, I swiped my phone off the counter in the kitchen and sent a text to Brendan.
Thank you. I owe you one.
Once it had sent, I set the phone down and crawled back into bed with Charlie, making the most of having him with me. Especially naked.

The Treatment of Captain Syverson-Chapter Nine: Group Therapy
Characters: Captain Syverson x OFC (Shane Benton)
Summary: A familiar drink brings back steamy memories for Shane (by popular demand), a ghost from the past picks a fight with the present, and the future hangs in the balance for our heroes.
Behind on the drama? It’s cool. I gotchu.
Word Count: 3.7k
Warnings: Language, mature themes, violence, smut, alcohol consumption, more feels than you can shake a stick at.
Author’s Note: Guys. Listen guys. I know this chapter is a tad late…not that I have deadlines, I just know y’all want more sooner than I can always get it to you. It’s also, though, a bit longer than most of the previous installments have been. I hope you guys enjoy it. I think it’s my favorite chapter so far…I definitely cried the most writing it…you’ll see why…I’m not sorry. Initially, for some reason, it was hard to stay focused. (I blame my own emotions and feelings clouding my ambitions. Can’t let that happen anymore. Even though the same factors apply. I’ve gotta keep my head in it!) I’m actually pretty sad that there won’t be very much more of this story…they’ve been such good friends to me. I may just have to find a way to keep them going in follow-up drabbles. I don’t know. But I’m open to suggestions.
Disclaimer: Unfortunately for me, Henry is not mine, le sigh, and all mention of him, his characters, any characters from his films, or his precious doggy, Kal, are strictly for transformative and recreational use. I neither ask for, nor accept payment for the work I post on Tumblr or AO3. Unbeta’d because this is for fun and escapism.

It wasn’t top on Shane’s list of things she wanted to do tonight, but it had been ages since she’d gone out with her friends. It wasn’t totally because she’d been seeing Sy. But more recently, he had become the most prevalent reason she ended up bowing out. Because she had plans with him, or she needed to do things that she hadn’t gotten or wouldn’t get done because of plans with him unless she skipped out. They were bad excuses, but those of an introvert weren’t usually top-shelf, anyway.
It was Heather, the other secretary Marsha and her husband Alec, some of her fellow PTs Cory and Juan, and both OTs, Olivia and Miranda there at Cade’s that night. And Shane and Sy, of course. They were sitting at two tables close together, and after dinner, the guys got up to play darts while the ladies ordered a round of shots.
Heather both requested and paid for the tray of tiny glasses full of dark liquor. Shane knew the aroma all too well. Those were full of Jack Daniels. And she got tingly just thinking about the spirit, especially now.
“Let’s drink the first round to Shane.” She passed them around and held one up. “For landing captain sexy pants over there, and for being happier than I’ve seen her in actual years.” Heather clinked to the middled with the other girls as they completed the toast with cheery responses of “to Shane!” With intermittent whoops and cat-calls. She felt funny saluting herself, so she said nothing, silently dedicating her own drink to the guy she wasn’t expecting, wasn’t even asking for, but who’d been gifted to her, by God Himself, it seemed. Whoever or whatever or why ever, she was grateful for him.
She downed the full measure of whiskey, feeling the familiar pleasant burn down her throat and reminisced about the last time she’d had the drink.
~~~~~~
“No you’re cheating!” She slurred at Sy’s kitchen table.
“Not how I see it!” He smirked, that crooked grin mixing with the alcohol in her already impaired system making a heady and dangerous concoction.
“You’re delib’rately using my PT career against me!” They we’re playing “Never Have I Ever.” And he’d just used “never have I ever measured somebody up with a big protractor.”
“Hey, you’ve been trying to get me with ‘never have I army this, and never have I army that.’ And you just can’t and now you’re mad about it.”
“Ugh, I’m not mad, I just…don’t like cheating okay. Fair play. I’m a Hufflepuff, through and through!”
“As a Gryffindor, I resent your implication against my honor! And I say, drink twice.” They’d run out of mixer, and were down to the straight liquor. She was fine with it. She loved the sweet, oaky burn of Number 7 as she held small swallows on her tongue. Relished the burn of it on the tender skin of her lips like a rough kiss. She took two shots at his insistence.
“Never have I ever…fired a gun!” And they both drank because she had chosen a “never” that she “had ever” on purpose. She liked feeling this way with Sy. She liked being able to abandon her control and feel safe in so doing. Knowing that he wouldn’t let anything hurt her. Including herself.
His eyes began to glimmer in a way that she could always tell meant he was thinking something particularly salacious. Which typically meant something good was about to happen.
“Never have I ever…fooled around in a kitchen.” He waited a beat, then slowly stood, taking a long stride to stand directly in front of Shane, towering over her as she sat limp from drinking and more than ready for whatever he was planning. The kiss he gave her was almost instantly hungry, devouring, consuming. A wild fire that would spread throughout the forest of her. He pulled a stool out from under the table near her, barely having to break the contact and sat down in front of her on it. She leaned into him now, the boneless feeling now overtaken by her craving for him. She tugged at his casual blue tank top that stunned her because of the way it matched his eyes so well. She needed him closer. His hands rested on her thighs, mostly bare in the shorts she'd chosen for tonight, simply for their comfort, and not because they provided any sort of easy access. Not on a conscious level, anyway, she told herself.
His grip was tightening but the pain of the pressure didn't matter. His thumbs and fingers were rupturing tiny blood vessels and she registered the pain and the fact that she would have bruises in the shape of his claiming grip but all that really mattered was that he was there. Near. Present. And touching her.
His hands moved, sliding up her legs, their trajectory shifting inward, their aim to open her up to him.
She was nothing short of willing.
He reached down to the seat between her legs and pulled her closer to him. Yes, she thought. He's too far away. Even though she could smell the whiskey on his breath even as she tasted it, still sweet on her own tongue. He laid a gentle hand on her left cheek, an almost chaste gesture, that snaked into something entirely different as it descended, brushing her neck, between her breasts, and over her abdomen, tumultuous from his touch and the drink.
He made it finally to her apex, easily brushing aside the fabric of her shorts, and teasing her there over her underwear with a soft, measured touch. She threw her arms around his neck, a wordless plea for him to go on. But her body was at odds with her mind.
“Sy, I wanna go slow.” She meant she didn’t want to end up in his bed tonight. Well, not that she didn't want to…
"Don't worry, sunshine. I'll take it real slow." he assured her, pretending to misunderstand her meaning as he teased her over her panties. She couldn't have spoken to correct him even if his lips hadn't taken an urgent hold on hers. His firm but frustrating touch was leaving her speechless and breathless.
Finally, he moved her undergarment aside to touch her, skin to skin. To pull a sweet, euphoric moan from her with just his fingers. He had been right about taking his time. It took him ages to find that space inside her that brought her to her pinnacle, but he made the wait enjoyable, all the same. She had a feeling he could have gone right to it, if he’d wanted to, but since she’d asked for it…
He grinned and chuckled into her mouth a bit as he toyed with her. He finally spoke,
“Hot damn, girl, you should have told me you needed me this bad.” He added a second finger to his game of search and destroy.
She could only grasp at his bare shoulders and the fabric of his shirt in an attempt to ground herself. He quickened, then slowed in sweet torture until her cries of his name became over loud for his neighborhood. The last build up, he added his thumb , brushing it against her aching center.
It hit her in waves of bliss as every muscle in her body responded to his localized, expert touch. Her vision blurred and for a second she could see the electricity flowing through air and matter and into her. Since when did THAT happen to her when she came?
“Sy!” She whimpered, a plea for him to stop but also to never stop.
“I know, darlin’, it’s alright. I’ve gotcha. Go on and let it out.” And she barely realized another climax had been building in her before she was falling headlong into it again, just as intense as the first one. He slowed, gently soothing her body after its small death, rubbing her neck and shoulder on the right side with his free hand.
He took his right hand away from her heat, brought it up to his mouth, and tasted her on his fingers. He poured them both another shot of whiskey, they threw them back, and once she had caught her breath from it all, she said,
“I don’t know the score, but I think you’ve won.”
~~~~~~~~~~
Back in the present, she felt too sober to handle the bombardment of questions coming from her coworkers, no matter how pure their intentions.
“So are you guys a couple, like officially?”
“Have you met each other’s folks?”
“Do you think he’s the one?”
“What is he like in bed!?”
“I bet he’s an absolute fiend!”
“Nah, guys ya think that about are always so vanilla.”
“How big is he!?”
All of these questions seemed to come at one time, or at least before she could answer the previous ones, and it made her head spin.
“Listen, girls. I’m gonna go get myself a strong drink, and when I come back, I’ll answer one question at a time, so figure out the order in which you’ll be asking, and a punishment system for interrupting. Fair?” The hens all nodded their beaks in agreement as she stood to go to the bar. She reminded herself to add a disclaimer when she got back to the table about having veto power over questions she felt weren’t appropriate.
As she stood at the bar waiting for her turn with the bartender, she tensed as she heard an all too familiar voice say her name.
“Shane Benton.” He said in a charming tenor that she now found obnoxiously boyish.
“Elliott Thomas. What misdeed did I do in a past life to end up back in the same room with you?” He ignored her jibe.
“You look well.” He said, surveying her as if he intended to make a purchase.
“Okay.” She would not give credence to half assed, insincere compliments.
“Who’s the guy you’re with tonight?”
“That couldn’t be any less your business.”
“You’ll always be my business, sweetheart.”
She rolled her eyes. “Funny, you didn’t seem to give a shit when we were together.”
“Come on, tell me where ya met this meat head.”
“Back off, Elliott.”
“Come on. He’s in a plaid shirt. He looks like he’s trying to cosplay the Brawny man. How quick does he pick you up?” He raised his eyebrows, driving home his attempt at double entendre.
The rage came suddenly, without warning, and manifested in a firm slap from her right hand to his left cheek. It landed solidly enough for him to have to stretch his jaw and feel it, as if making sure it was still there.
"Well, still got some spunk. Good to know. Not so fast--" he grabbed her wrist as she stepped away from the bar, but she was saved the trouble of getting out of it with her favorite self-defense maneuver, by the solid wall of red plaid and denim topped with his favorite black Chiefs hat. Sy had apparently noticed her altercation at the bar and elected to step in.
"What's goin' on here?" he asked, not brusquely, but so coolly that it was almost friendly. Elliott let go of Shane's wrist immediately and threw his hands up.
"No trouble here, man. Just a little friendly conversation between two former lovers." he said, oozing pure, stinking hubris.
"Oh, you're Elliott. Nice to meet you, man." Sy reached out to shake the man's hand. "I've actually been wanting to thank you."
Elliott looked confused. So was Shane. This guy had broken her heart. What was Sy intent on thanking him for?
"I wanted to thank you for fucking up so bad with this kind, beautiful woman, this graceful and forgiving saint, that she couldn't stand the sight of you any longer. Who knows. If you hadn't been such a dick, she may not have been free to be with me today." all of this, Sy said with Elliott's hand still in his. Shaking it. Apparently not too firmly. Until Sy leaned in very closely and whispered something to Elliott that made him go several shades of puce, and grimace, pulling his hand away, which Sy eventually relinquished.
After Elliott had tucked his tail and ran away, Shane found herself in a far less merry temperament than she'd come in with. She and Sy decided to leave. They said their goodbyes, Shane promising more answers as soon as she could. And they left, her arm around his waist, and his around her shoulder.
About halfway to Sy's truck, Shane heard a solid ping near her ear and the shattering of glass on the pavement nearby, followed by a low growl from deep in Sy's chest. They halted in their stride, Shane turning quickly around, Sy turning more slowly and intentionally in the direction of his would be attacker.
Elliot stood beside the brick exterior of the bar with three other men, none of them within 50 pounds of Sy, and hardly a match for him…individually…but together, she was concerned. She would absolutely try to help fight these guys, but she couldn't take out more than one with the potential weapons she had on her person that she could inventory off hand. Plus, if she had to fight Elliott…he'd get into her head…she knew it. Thank God she didn't know the other guys. She'd hope to get one of them.
"Can I help you gentlemen?" Sy said, back to his polite self, not worried about potentially getting into a street fight in which they were outnumbered two to one.
"Just thought you'd like to tell my buddies here what you said to me in there. I mean, I gave them the gist, but I think they'd like to hear it from you." Elliott puffed.
"Ah, somebody can't keep a secret." Sy sigh scolded him, wagging his finger at him as if he was a misbehaved child. "I was gonna let it all go as long as you left us alone. Did you mention that to them before you got them into a whole mess o' trouble?"
"Tell them, you fuckin' coward."
"Big talk from a guy who had to make it four to one before he confronted me." Sy accused.
"Four to two." Shane squared her shoulders, standing next to Sy, and attempting to make herself look more formidable, which was next to impossible given the fact that the man beside her was a massive army captain and she was just…herself. But she'd be damned if she stood by and let Sy take all of this on when it was all because of her. Plus, she didn't want him to reinjure himself.
"How about you jump in if I need ya, sunshine." He whispered to her. She didn't move or reply. "But ya know, since ya asked so nicely, I will oblige. I told this piss-ant friend of yours after he physically accosted this lovely lady here, in no uncertain terms that if he EVER touched MY GIRLFRIEND again, he'd be begging for death for hours before I had mercy on him and put him out of his misery and that his body would never be found." He eyed each of the men before him, his fiery gaze a physical force upon them, letting his promise to Elliott sink in. "Now if y'all wanna defend a man who would put hands on a woman, and then proceed to physically assault a United States Army veteran like myself, I can come up with similar guarantees for all of ya. And carry them out here tonight. But y'all look like ya've got a lot o' shit ya still wanna get done in this life with limbs and dicks intact. So I would encourage all of you fine gentlemen to walk away from this situation."
Two of the men, surrendered, claiming Elliott hadn't mentioned that he'd hurt Shane or that Sy was a vet. One of the men asked to shake his hand and thanked him for his service. The smallest member of Elliott's group, however, remained with him. Shane thought she recognized him after getting a better look. He'd been at a few events she'd been to with Elliott's friend group. She thought his name was Kyle. Clearly he was one of Elliott's oldest and most loyal friends. He still looked skeptical. Unsure that the two of them alone could take Sy. Shane thought he was right to be worried.
"Come on, Kyle!" Elliott summoned his friend to the fight.
"I dunno, man. He's a soldier and I mean…look at him. Look at us!"
"You pussy." Elliott walked up to Sy.
"You don't want to do this, friend." Sy warned.
"I'm not your friend, asshole. You stole my girlfriend." he swung wildly at the larger man, but missed. He was unsteady, Shane could see now, from excessive drink. She hadn't noticed inside.
Sy remained still for one punch that landed weakly on his jaw, barely displacing it. "Are you done, there, Mayweather? We even? Now that you got to hit me?"
"We are not done. Not until one of us is on the ground." Elliott insisted.
"Fair enough." Sy socked him with a jab straight to the nose, knocking him dizzily to the hard asphalt of the parking lot. Kyle came up to him to drag Elliott to a nearby car as his head lolled forward like a rag doll.
"I'll get him to the ER. Explain to them what happened. You guys get home safe. And thanks for not killing him. Or me." Kyle said as he opened his passenger door. Sy helped heave Elliott's comatose form into the seat and shook Kyle's hand.
Shane's eyes were still wide at the entire chain of events. Her adrenaline supercharged from her readiness to fight alongside her man. Which, she was both relieved and disappointed that she didn't have to do. But there was another thing on her mind. She had been mentally replaying what Sy had said to Elliott played over and over for more reasons than his chivalrous and heroic conduct.
When they were in the car and headed to her house, Shane asked him about it.
"So…you called me your girlfriend tonight." she looked at him.
"Shit, Shane, I'm sorry. I've been wanting to ask ya for days to make things official, and I just haven't found the right time. I was gonna ask you over drinks tonight in front of all your friends, but then that asshole fucked it all up. I even have a gift for you." he fished around in his pocket for a small, flat box, and handed it to her. She flipped up the spring loaded lid of the black velvet box, and inside, on a tiny pillow of black satin was a silver necklace with a silver charm. An "S" in an elaborate script with a small emerald set in the lower hook of the letter. "And if you don't want to make it official, you can still keep the necklace, because the 'S' can be for 'Shane,' and the stone can just be an emerald, and ya don't have to think about it like it's my birthstone, and I--"
"Sy, hush. Of course I want to be your girlfriend, officially. I've been dying to say it myself. And I love the necklace. It's perfect."
"Really? You mean it? All of it?" she'd never seen him so desperate. She had no idea why he thought she might not be serious. But she did have an idea of how to prove it.
"Stay with me tonight, Sy."
"It's still early yet, babe. I'll have plenty of time--"
"No, I mean, I want you. Tonight." How could she be more clear than that?
"Oh, you mean…but I thought you wanted to wait until my treatments were over?" He asked, as if he didn't want to get his hopes up just yet.
"When you were on the phone with my boss that day, you said something that I haven't been able to stop thinking about. Something that's gnawed at my will and resolve ever since. You said that life was too short, and you didn't want to wait to be happy when you could be happy now." she was verging on tears. "Well, I'm tired of waiting too, Sy. You make me happier than I've ever been, and I don't see the point in ignoring what we really want anymore. Because the fact is, Sy…the fact has been for a while now," she laughed at her own foolishness for stifling and ignoring it all this time, "I love you. And I think I have from the moment you first called me ma'am." She was fully crying now, and the tears had broken through down his cheeks, as well.
He pulled into her driveway and jumped out of his truck, still running, headlights blazing into her yard. He jogged around the front, but Shane, being uninjured had caught up to him without the benefit of a head start. He caught her up in his arms as if she'd stay there forever. They sobbed tears of joy and relief as they kissed each other with abandon, silhouettes against the footlights and exhaust courtesy of the Ford Motor Company, the PowerStroke engine roaring a soundtrack for this moment as it idled.
"I love you, Shane. From the moment you found me dreading therapy all alone that first day and cheered me up instantly. I knew." he brush the tears and hairs away from her face and held it, scrutinizing her features in the high-beams as if he intended to draw her from memory.
"I didn't know you were dreading it." she laughed, lightening the mood a bit.
"I was. A lot. Never had a lot of luck, especially recently, with PT. Until you."
She smiled, and looked at the truck, a third party to their romantic moment now more obvious to her.
"You're wasting gas."
"Hang the gas. I'm wasting time with you. You wanna go inside?" he asked. She nodded.
"You go get your purse. I'll be right around."
Sy shut off the truck and took his keys out, locking the vehicle from the fob after his arm was back around Shane and they were walking up her front porch steps.

We’re alive, we swear! (Along with some insight into making a podcast!)
Hello, everyone! Shane here!
I know it’s been quite a while since our last episode, but with the combination of life hitting Ken and I relatively hard, the holidays, AND Steven Universe going on a long hiatus, we haven’t been able to produce episodes for the past few months. On top of that, producing episodes is a bit more difficult now that Ken and I no longer live in the same building. We weren’t sure if we were going to continue making episodes after the movie ended, since we didn’t know what the Crewniverse had planned. Now that several episodes of Future has been released, though... we’re debating getting back into weekly updates.
Now, I know I’ve said this before, but editing a 1-2 hour long podcast weekly is NOT a small feat, especially for a group of two people. Allow me to give a very brief explanation behind what goes behind making just one of these GemTalk episodes:
1) We watch the episode once for enjoyment, at this point we aren’t thinking about the show as theorists/podcasters, but rather as fans. We don’t put on our super-fanboy glasses until step 2. (15 min.)
2) We separately watch the episode critically. After we let the episode roll around in our heads for about a day, we sit down with the episode and watch it with an intense level of scrutiny, jotting down nearly everything that happens in the episode worth mentioning. This can take anywhere from half an hour to an hour, depending on how lore-heavy the episode is. (30-60 min.)
3) We research anything that could possibly be a clue, hint, reference, etc. This involves a great deal of internet sleuthing to uncover things we might not have known, such as references to places, events, subjects, or pretty much anything that we need more data on to make an informed commentary. This is one of my favorite parts, as I’ve learned a great deal about a broad list of subjects from doing research for a podcast about a cartoon. However, this is also one of the longest portions of the process. We do our absolute best to provide ONLY information that has been provided by several sources or thoroughly verified, while simultaneously keeping the show as fair and honest as possible. While we obviously have a lot of fun with what we do, we strive to maintain a level of honesty, kindness, and integrity in everything we produce. (60-120 min.)
4) The theory crafting section comes next, where Ken and I sit down and discuss how the recent information we’ve received could be connected to past events. Sometimes we go back and watch old episodes, or review old theories, or even plan out extensive hypothetical situations to see how well they hold up to scrutiny. Sometimes we let our minds go wild and come up with some pretty crazy theories, but we do our best to focus most often on where we think the show “will” go. Since most of this section is open conversation, plotting, reviewing, and theorizing, it happens sporadically over the next day or so. (120 min. - 180 min.)
5) Planning out the show comes next. It might be somewhat surprising to hear this, but our shows do have a fairly loose script. We’ve tried going nearly completely off the cuff before, and it just ends up as a rambling mess. To do this, we sit down with our separate set of notes, compare what we both feel is important to discuss, and determine the order in which we should talk about each topic. This is done to ensure that the flow of our conversation feels natural while running parallel to what is happening in the show. This also usually serves as a “mock run” of the episode, giving us the opportunity to practice how we’ll approach each topic and loosen up the ol’ lips. For me, it also means I’m chugging the last of my coffee before we go on! (60 min.)
6) Recording! This step doesn’t require a great deal of explaining, aside from some small “behind the scenes” facts you might not know. For example, there are several moments where one of us will trip over our lines and “bluh bluh flibberty gibberty” for a few seconds, which obviously gets cut. Also, one of us will occasionally say something very wrong (intentionally or otherwise), which leads to a fit of laughter, which also must be cut. Very rarely we’ll think of something right in the middle of an episode and literally stop what we’re doing to do research just to make sure we’re right. Either way, this usually ends up with nearly twice as much content as actually gets posted. (120 min.)
7) EDITING. The bane of my existence. The curse that accompanies my love of podcasting. This is where I make a massive cup of coffee, burn a pumpkin spice candle, get super comfy in my blanket, and sit at my computer for half a day. The process starts with taking a raw 2+ hour clip, canceling out the noise, adjusting the volume levels, editing out any unexpected background noise, cutting out any mistakes, ensuring that the audio around the cut sounds natural, fixing mic peaks (usually from laughing), removing “filler words” (Hmm, Ummm, Uhh, etc.), adding the intro and outro music, saving, and exporting. This whole process is pretty much the rest of my day once I get home from my day job. (240-360 min.)
8) Posting and advertising is the final step. We’ve pretty much gotten this down to a science at this point, so it takes a lot less time and effort than it used to. We upload the episode to Soundcloud, which beams it out to other podcasting websites, and then post it out on our social media pages. We also try (sometimes better than others) to create other fan content to keep our social media pages as more than just another reservoir of episodes. (30 min.)
If you add all of that up, it comes out to around 13-14 hours of work a week to generate a 1-2 hour podcast. That means GemTalk is practically a part-time job for each of us, on top of our full-time jobs. However, SU has been a wonderful part of my life that has allowed me to create something with my best friend. The time I spend working on the show is a labor of love, and just hearing that people enjoy listening to us ramble about the show for hours at a time means the world to me. Making GemTalk also provided Ken and I with the opportunity to reach out to the community during conventions and provide help in areas like writing, critical thinking, and (perhaps unexpectedly) cooking. It’s been a wonderful ride so far, and we wanted to reach out to everyone and let them know that it’s not over just yet.
As stated when I began this (now much longer than anticipated) post, we’re currently holding discussions as to whether or not we should continue making episodes about Steven Universe Future. We’re not opposed to it, so it’s likely we will. Regardless of what we decide, however, please be aware that there will be something to look forward to! We can’t promise exactly when, but it’s likely to be within the next few weeks. I’ll do my best until then to try to keep everyone posted.
As always, love ya’ll and thanks for reading/listening!
- Shane <3

A Winter Dance
Here’s my Secret Santa for @octobersfarm
I had really fun trying to write someone else’s character and I hope I made Wren enough justice since they seem really cool! Let me know if anything feels weird and I’ll change it and otherwise, enjoy! And Happy Holidays!
Wren ran around the room looking for the present as the snow fell outside. She had to leave for the feast soon and if she were to pick up Penny on the way she couldn't be late. She rummaged through her drawers to find where she'd put it and successfully took out a small package that she hurried towards the kitchen with.
On the sink stood a rack of muffins freshly out of the oven. She put them carefully into the box before grabbing the ribbon she had found and topped it off with a bow. She then grabbed the package and headed for the front door after making sure the stove was turned off. On her way she stopped in front of the mirror looking at her reflection.
She was wearing a long brown skirt with stockings underneath and a white sweater over it decorated with a wintery pattern. She nodded to herself before heading out of the farmhouse and locking the door before starting to make her way towards the town.
She was thankful that she had shoveled this morning as the sides of the road were now covered in snow that went well over her boots hight. It had snowed all week which had sealed the town in a layer of thick snow but today it looked like it would clear up. The sun was setting and she managed to spot the beautiful pink hues between the cloudy layers as she walked towards the town. If they were lucky they might even be able to see the special winter star that was rumored to only show this day of the year. Walking down the road she could see the colored lights lighting up the square from the distance and faintly hear music and laughter.
She rounded the corner of Evelyn's house and strode towards Penny and Pam's caravan, thankfully the road up to their house had also been shoveled so she could easily make her way to their front door. She knocked before taking a step back as she heard shuffling before Penny opened the door.
"Whoa! You look amazing!"
Penny smiled as she took Wrens outstretched hand and helped her down. She was wearing a long red dress with a sweater over it to combat the cold. The sequins was reflecting the lights and coloring the space around her.
"You don't think it's too much..?"
"No it's absolutely perfect!" A blush dusted Penny's cheeks.
"You look lovely aswell."
They started making their way towards the town. They could see the town center being lit up by lights making the snow around it glow. The sun had now completely gone down, the cold air now making them shiver. As they rounded the bar and entered the town's center they were hit with the noises of people celebrating. There were tables set up holding this years harvest, some of the food coming directly from Wrens farm. They could see families slowly settling around their tables officially starting their feast.
The thing that caught both of their eyes were the giant spruce tree now decorating the middle of the plaza, lighting the surrounding town up with twinkling lights and adored with a bright star on top of it. There were presents piled underneath it where Vincent and Jazz were now standing, staring at it with big eyes while trying to find their own presents.
"I'm surprised every year at how Lewis manages to pull this off every year" Penny said while looking at the tree.
"Yeah... It really is magical."
The moment didn't last long. As soon as the kids spotted them they came running, both talking in the mouth of the other making it unable to be understood.
"Penny! Have you seen the tree! Isn't it the best?!" Penny laughed at the children tugging at her dress, dragging her towards the tree.
"Have you seen our present?"
"I'm getting a really big one this year!"
"Aren't you forgetting something?" Wren looked at them with a stern look before smiling when they bowed their heads.
"Miss Penny, can you come with us to the tree? Pleeease?"
"Sure" She answered with a chuckle before following the two children towards the tree, waving goodbye to Wren for the moment.
Wren took a moment to gaze at the tree. It had been decorated with twinkling lights. It looked like most of the village had already gathered and when she looked towards the buffé table she spotted Shane standing by himself, a drink in hand. She started to head towards him. As she came closer he saw her and smiled.
"Merry Christmas Shane!" Wren said cheerfully.
"Merry Christmas to you too."
"It's been awhile since I've seen you. How have you been?"
"Good, It's been good."He said while gazing at the ground. "It's been hectic at home. You know how Marnie gets around this time of the year.. I think she's made at least 5 main courses and ten types of cookies for tonight. I tried to tell her we won't need that much but it's no use." He said with a snicker. And you? Everything going good at the farm?"
"Yeah, I don't really have that much to do since I can't really grow anything. I've been spending more time inside with Penny. Just enjoying winter I guess..? It's been nice to get to relax for a bit."
The conversation died down as Shane took a sip from the cup he was holding.
"Don't worry." Shane quickly added when he saw Wren eyeing it suspiciously. "It's just hot chocolate. I've been trying to switch out the strong stuff, besides, this is way more enjoyable and it makes Jazz happy.” He added with a smile.
They stayed like that for a moment just admiring the tree and enjoying each other's presence. Wren saw Penny making her way towards her so she said goodbye to Shane and started walking towards Penny.
"You manage to get away from them?" Wren asked laughing.
"I haven't seen them this excited since Jazz's birthday." She snickered. "That reminds me!" She pulled out a present she had hidden behind her back and stretched it towards Wren. "Here's your present. I hope you like it!" She said with a smile. Wren snickered to themselves while admiring the pretty paper. It seemed like Penny had used several tape rolls to hold the present together. In it was a red knitted sweater. Wren pulled it out and measured it against her body. It seemed to fit perfectly.
"Have you made this?" Wren said while admiring the gift.
"Yeah, do you like it?" Penny asked shyly.
"I love it! And it fits me perfectly! I didn't know you could knit?" Wren said amazed.
"Evelyn has been teaching me so it's her you have to thank! My first attempt was just a mess of loose strings." Penny said while letting out a small chuckle.
"Guess I'll be living in this over the next weeks! My turn now!" Wren moved towards the tree and came back with a present that she handed to Penny. "Just be careful! It's a bit fragile!"
It was a box wrapped in flower printed paper with a red bow around it. Penny slowly untied the ribbon and opened the box, as she did so a familiar smell reached her nose. Pennys face lit up. The box contained poppy muffins gently wrapped as to not crumble.
"Thank you! When did you even have time to make these?" Penny beamed. Wren rubbed at her neck.
"Well I made them this morning before leaving. They're better fresh so I didn't want them to go stale..." She said awkwardly. Penny put the lid back and placed the box on the ground carefully before enveloping Wren in a hug.
"I love you." Wren quickly returned the embrace.
"I love you too."
Lewis voice ended the moment as it cut through the noise. Everybody quieted down as he wished them welcome and let everyone take a seat to let the feast begin. Wren and Penny had managed to grab some seats at the end of one of the long tables along with Pam and Gus right next to Marnie, Jazz and Shane.
The meal was enjoyed between friends as everyone had helped bring something. As they ate the homemade food they caught up and discussed everything that had happened since the last time they had seen each other, laughing and appreciating each other's company.
As the meal ended Lewis put on some music and invited everyone to dance. Robin and Demetrius opened the dance and soon many formed couples and followed.
"Now I expect you kids to join aswell!" Pam shouted over her shoulder as Gus lead her towards the dancefloor.
"You know I'm not good at dancing.." Penny said. Not really making any attempt to stand up.
"I can promise you I've seen worse." Wren said while looking over at Haley who loudly complained about Alex stepping on her toes. Wren stood up and stretched out her hand towards her.
"Come on, it'll be fun." She said with a smile. Penny cautiously took it as they slowly made their way over towards the dancefloor. At first Penny was stiff, keeping her gaze on her feet trying to follow Wrens steps but after some time she started to relax and let Wren lead her. Even laughing when Wren spun her.
"Not so horrible after all?" Wren said with a smile on her face.
"Maybe not." Penny replied still laughing.
They stayed like that, slow dancing to the music and enjoying the evening.
As the clock came closer to midnight everyone started to gather in groups to find a spot to wait for the winterstar.
As the star fell over the valley Wren and Penny stood close in the group of people, hands intertwined as they watched it light up the night sky. Penny leaned closer whispering "I love you" Before Wren kissed her she answered "I love you too."

Post #46—Them Dirty Roses: Locked Down & Unplugged LIVE
“Cause I found the wind that blows, It’s blowin’ me back home 🎶”
Nashville-based southern rockers Them Dirty Roses recently let the wind blow them back to the Bama clay they were raised on for two consecutive nights of sold out shows at Sidetracks Music Hall in Huntsville, AL. General manager/talent buyer Shane Bickel was eager to re-open and provide both musicians and fans alike a safe, socially-distanced outlet for music, so Hillbilly Hippie Music Review made the trek there via Indiana and L.A. (that’s lower Alabama) to enjoy a couple nights of tunes post-lockdown.
Deemed “Locked Down & Unplugged LIVE,” the set of acoustic shows was the perfect, albeit different, way to kick off the return of live music—especially since HHMR’s last show before the nation-wide pandemic lockdown was in March with TDR at Sidetracks. Total full circle kind of moment, and one we wish we could have frozen in time. But, I’ve got to be frank—despite being a total glutton for acoustic music, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, being that everything had changed so quickly. Would people hesitate to interact? Would we dance and sing or sit there like statues? Would the energy in the room be relaxed or tightly-wound? At first, there was a bit of an unsure current in the air, but before long, everyone was loosened up and moving to the groove in their seats and all the ladies made their way to the stage to end each night with “Shake It,” a TDR ritual.
Before we dive into the specifics of the weekend, here’s a little background for readers unfamiliar with TDR: Brothers James Ford (vocals and guitar) and Frank Ford (drums) formed Them Dirty Roses with their friends Andrew Davis (guitar) and Ben Crain (bass) in Gadsden, AL circa 2012 prior to moving to Tennessee to travel the country playing their brand of rock and roll and finding success both stateside and across Europe. Their sound is a bit southern rock heavy laden with outlaw vibes, and a bit party band mixed with a penchant for slower, sentimental jams—in other words, it’s eclectic and every bit as unique as the four men who form the band. However you describe it, a TDR show is always a good time—and it only takes one to get hooked on the electric energy these guys bring to the stage. On June 5th and 6th in a little venue off by the railroad tracks in Rocket City, the vibe was killer and the feeling was out of this world. Not only were the fans ready to rock, but the band was ecstatic and thankful to be back in action.
HHMR contributor Linda Owen’s first-ever TDR show was March 13–the night the country shut down due to the pandemic. She has the unique perspective of experiencing the “typical” wide-open TDR show and the stripped, intimate version back to back. Here’s what she had to say:
“Three months without live music—I know I slowly watched myself go from the happiest most optimistic person I knew, to a complete mess. It may have seemed like I was okay, but I assure you I was not.
I’ve always known how much music has impacted my life. It has always brought me the greatest memories and blessed me with many friendships and there were so many times in my life where the only thing I had to hold on to was a song. Three months without my music family was torture. With that being said I'll never forget my first shows post-COVID-19. Ironically, the first post -COVID-19 show was at the same venue with the same band I saw pre-COVID-19, and it was perfect.
Let me set the scene. Sidetracks Music Hall is the kind of local music hall we all want in our hometowns: you feel at home as soon as you walk in, you are treated like family, and it has by far the friendliest staff and patrons of any place I've been to date. The venue possesses a large open floor plan with the bar area in the back, so there is not a bad spot to see the show. For this show in particular, tables are spread about what is normally the "pit" area. To be honest, I was a little nervous that this social distancing acoustic show wouldn’t quite fill that void that COVID-19 has left me feeling...I was so wrong. After getting settled in with a drink, my sidekick Lyssa and I did some mingling getting to talk to new-to-me friends that I'd made three months previously at the last show I had attended. The excitement in the room was palatable—and it only got better from there.
TDR hit the stage and you could feel the spirits of every single person in the room glowing around you. All the doubts that an acoustic show wasn't going to feel right with social distancing rules melted away! We danced and sang along like those tables weren't in the way the first night. "Whiskey in My Cup" "Grew Up In The Country" and "Molly" had us all on our feet grooving. We were treated to covers by The Black Crowes, Jason Isbell, and The Allman Brothers, in addition to fan favorites and new songs from their upcoming album expected to release in September—and we are stoked for it.
My heart and soul were happier those two nights than they'd been for the past three months. I sang my way back to Indiana..caught myself sing at work on Monday too!”
The magic wasn’t solely felt by the HHMR team—the air was saturated with it and everyone in the room had a taste that left them yearning for more. Below are a few comments from TDR fans:
“The first show post lock-down came with more enjoyment than just the music. We were super excited for the chance to get back out and hear live music! Them Dirty Roses were the last band we got to see prior to the lock-down. Now, it turns out that Them Dirty Roses would be the first post lock-down. The music was great! What we didn't anticipate was the joy it also brought by seeing so many friends with smiling faces! It was amazing to be seen again and to hear two nights of wonderful tunes!”
—Bud Gambrell
“Went to the Friday show and it was a group of guys that were ready for a show. They were the last band we saw before the Coronavirus shut things down in Huntsville. Looking forward to seeing them again.”
—Kevin Boyd
“The first show post quarantine was like something wonderful that I had been deprived of for a long time. I think sometimes we don't see how many things that surround us in life we take for granted. I see at least two live music shows a month. During the summer, I probably go to 2-3 shows a week. Honestly, it seemed like such a wonderful release and something that people needed. Everybody has something that feeds their spirit—mine is music. Being deprived of other people and the things we love are just some of the things that add to that depression that comes with the whole quarantine/covid situation. So, being around friends and music felt really great and normal. It seemed like life may be getting back to normal finally. I smiled all night!”
—Jerolyn Davis
“Needless to say, Them Dirty Roses put on one hell of a show two nights in a row, which was just what I needed after the almost three month drought of no live music! The fact that they were the last live show for me before everything shut down is kinda ironic and cool at the same time. I'm also very thankful to Sidetracks for putting on the shows, they rock!”
—Robin Huff
Guitarist Andrew Davis was on the same wavelength as many in attendance. When asked his thoughts on performing again post-pandemic, he said: “In March, the future of the entire industry was uncertain. We all knew that April was going to be postponed, but we couldn't even imagine postponing or cancelling the entire festival season. Then, weeks later, exactly that happened. With all of the uncertainty surrounding the future of our industry, it was very reassuring to get back out and play again. It definitely answered a lot of lingering questions about whether or not people would rush back to live venues.”
After last weekend, it seems life will slowly, but surely, get back on track and all will be right in our world again. Until that day comes, be sure to support live music and independent venues—such as Sidetracks who has hosted many fabulous performers like Anderson East, The Steel Woods, Black Stone Cherry, Adam Hood, Kingfish, Ritch Henderson, Muscadine Bloodline, Whitey Morgan and the 78s, and many, many more in addition to TDR—in whatever manner you can so that we have them to return to when COVID-19 restrictions are lifted nation-wide. And don’t forget to keep your eyes peeled for that new Them Dirty Roses record to release this fall—it’s without a doubt some of their best work. In the meantime, keep up with the band and their tour schedule at www.themdirtyroses.com and @themdirtyroses on both Facebook and Instagram.
As always, stay safe, spread love, and be kind to one another. See y’all down the road!

A Second Decade of Movies
Ten years ago on Facebook, I compiled a list of every movie I watched, in order, from the first decade of the network’s existence. Now, here’s part two, covering the years 2010-2019. There are 754 titles below, though some are repeat viewings. The movie I watched the most? Harold Lloyd in “The Freshman.” My favorite movie from the last decade? “The Tree of Life.”
But I began the 2010s with James Cameron’s mega-hit “Avatar.” I’ll go on record saying the movie is still enjoyable ten years later, as I watched it again in 2019 with my kids to prep for visiting the World of Pandora at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. But--I also agree with those who say there’s little remembered from the film in the culture today. Can you name the stars? Recount the plot in detail? Mostly what we remember from the film is the spectacle of it all, game-changing when it was released in 2009.
At any rate, enjoy the list below! If a title is hotlinked, it will take you to an essay, interview, or related coverage on the film by yours truly.

Series Masterlist - Main Masterlist
<<Previous Part
To say you had a lot of up and downs in the past months was normally enough problems in the life of a normal human being. You could be surprised that it didn’t hit it you harder but all the running away with Bucky and being pregnant kept your mind away from griefing. If that was a good thing to do was another thing to discuss.
Two or three months are only left, the joy you felt was immense, to this little bundle you’ve created finally in your arms and to actually get to meet him, see him grow and everything that comes along but with the joy and happiness came also fear for what could go wrong, hydra is still after the boy. Birth could go wrong in so many multiple ways that hurt just thinking about it but you knew that you had to talk with Bucky about at some point, for the worst case scenario that crept to your thoughts on a daily basis. Not like you’re filled with luck.
Besides that you couldn’t be any more thrilled to not be pregnant anymore. At some kind is cool and fun but then also it’s not. You had some certain problems you never want to have again, especially as you started to gain weight and a certain size of your stomach. It was insane how much help you needed in simple daily basis tasks, even standing up could be a challenge, for that you got more and more grateful for Bucky at your side. Now there was also the stuff you had to get for the baby.
“You sure you don’t help over there? I could start with some other stuff” you questioned and looked to all the other still packaged stuff. There probably wasn’t even space to put this stuff but you just brought the important stuff. Bucky tried his luck with the crib you saw as you casually were grocery shopping and saw it on sale thinking:’Oh yeah you need certain stuff for a newborn!’
“No don’t touch it. Just relax, I got this!” he assured you even tho he was the opposite of calm in the middle of all the wooden parts and materials.
“Geez ok. You give me anxiety by just watching you.” you chuckled and turned back to your magazine. He groaned every now and then, it was so audible and often that you looked back up again.
“Bucky we can also do this another time. Not like I am already in labor or anywhere near it ok?” you said and pushed yourself up.
“Yeah..but I just wanna get it done now” Bucky’s head dropped. Sitting down besides him you took the constructions and together you eventually made it until it looked like how it’s supposed to look like. The other stuff could wait for now.
Christmas was here and neither you or Bucky did really care one bit since none of you had it really growing up or like at all or a real christmas for once so what you did was Have yourself a merry little christmas and at least cooked something nice. Well nicer than everything else you had to this point.
“So how does it taste?” you watched Bucky tasting the stuff you made or tried making. His face twitched slightly as he continued to chew on it with raised eyebrows and a hand in front of his mouth.
“Interesting..” he eventually brought out.
“It doesn’t taste good?” you asked somehow expecting this.
“No..Well-” he stuttered and inspected the food finally swallowing what he had and coughing afterwards. You tried now yourself. It is bad, like really bad and you ate a lot of weird shit through your pregnancy.
“I kinda saw that coming. Not the first time that happened” you told him smiling and also trying not to throw up.
“That happened before?” he chuckled surprised.
“Yeah...I got Luke and myself into the hospital on Thanksgiving” you laughed thinking back to it.
-Flashback/Memory-
“I guess we can call this the worst Thanksgiving in history” you remembered Luke saying from the hospital bed right besides you. He looked so pale, face covered with sweat and like he was about to die this day, with a bucket in his hands and still managing to make fun of you this idiot.
“Stop Luke ok?!It’s hurting if I laugh to much!” you said turning away from him with a painful smile on yourself, also a bucket in your hands.
“Romantically? I think you topped this one from the past date nights” Luke said letting you turn around again, maybe a bit to fast as you had to empty your stomach once again.
“Barfing together in the Hospital, Side by side after Miss (Y/N) (Y/L/N) tried to kill both her and her boyfriend on Thanksgiving” He held his hand like he was holding a microphone and also talking like he is presenting the news. if he could do something then it’s cheering someone up. A thing you learned this day was not trying to cook again (well that worked..) and laughing and throwing up wasn’t something enjoyable to do.
-End of Flashback/Memory-
“You never talk about him” Bucky said catching you a bit off guard.
“Yeah well..- We should clean this up before it can spread” you laughed it off, totally not changing the subject.
“Just now you can and if you don’t wanna it’s fine too” he stopped you and held out his pinky finger.
“You too” you replied and linked your fingers together.

What do you think of how TWD has become? Personally I recently just stopped watching since Lauren left. Before that every episode became a chore to watch and then it just became a show I analytically judged and cringed through. And I’m really not one to stop watching shows after years of being loyal. So I was wondering if it’s the same for you. And if so what it who or what is still keeping you to watch.
I literally couldn’t have received this ask at a better time - I’ve spent the last half an hour or so browsing through Reddit to hear people’s opinions on why they feel TWD has declined in quality and what the best/worst seasons are (yes, I know, I’m sad haha). To answer your question about what I think of what TWD has become - I’m very disappointed with what it’s become and I feel exactly the same way you do. There are so many amazing elements of TWD that make it one of my favourite shows and I will always love and re-watch the earlier seasons, but it’s gotten so bad. Like, so so so so so bad. I haven’t watched the show since the end of season 8 but I’ve still seen snippets of season 9 from the TWD blogs I follow and have no desire to pick it up again. I’m like you and I find it very difficult to give up on shows that I’ve loved and followed for so long, but it gets to a point where you have to prioritise enjoyment above loyalty and it got to a point where I felt the same as you and that watching new episodes was a chore. When it gets to that point with any show, it’s time to quit, because watching shows should be an enjoyable experience, not something you’re forcing yourself to do and that’s putting you in a bad mood afterwards (which TWD often did for me before I stopped watching).
I began to lose interest in the show during season 6 with the introduction of the Hilltop and the Saviors. Personally, I’m not a fan of the focus on human conflict and community vs community, this is a zombie show and zombies should be the main conflict not petty squabbling between humans (plus, we already had that plot in seasons 3 and 4 with the Governor). I had no interest in Negan and the build-up to his reveal was so dragged out that I cared even less by the time we finally met him. The circumstances of Glenn and Abraham’s deaths angered me beyond belief (like it did for many fans), and losing Glenn was a massive hit for me. At that point, I considered stopping watching, but I was willing to give the show the benefit of the doubt and committed to watching season 7, which was undoubtedly the worst season of the show by a mile. Nothing even happens in season 7, it’s all filler (what even is that god awful episode with Daryl in the cell with that annoying song that replays constantly?), there’s too much focus on Negan, the core croup are divided for a majority of the season (again) and 99% of the characters are utterly detestable. Honestly, the only reason I kept watching at that point was because of Rick and Carl. When Carl was killed in season 8 I was sure that was the point at which I would stop watching, because I’d only been holding on by a thread for two seasons. Again, I forced myself to watch until the end of the season partly out of curiosity as to how they would handle the aftermath of Carl’s death and what would happen to Rick, but mostly because I was clinging to that teeny tiny little chance that Carl wasn’t really dead and it was all some cruel trick. When I realised that Carl really was dead (and saw the shit-fest that the rest of season 8 was) I just had nothing left to watch for.
TWD is a dark and depressing show and a big problem that has led it to the place it is today (aside from atrocious pacing, poor writing decisions and a bad format) is that it systematically kills off all of its characters who represent hope in a universe that is hopeless. Sophia, Hershel, T-Dog, Beth, Glenn and Carl all symbolised optimism and hope in some way because of what they represented and/or had overcome. Carl’s death, in particular, was such a huge blow for me, that I couldn’t recover from it. For me personally, Rick and Carl are the foundation of TWD and without them it simply doesn’t work. That father/son relationship is at the heart of the show - Rick is the main protagonist, he is the hero who is responsible for rebuilding a new world and his primary motivator (excluding Lori) is his son. When you take Carl away you take away the heart of the show and the show no longer makes sense without him. Fans watched Carl grow from a young boy, witnessed all the traumas he suffered through and regardless of whether we liked him or not, we were invested in his well-being and rooting for him. As a child, he was the symbol of innocence, of the future and he was the one character we wanted to see still standing at the end, we wanted him to be the one that beat the world, just like Lori said on her deathbed. Without Carl who’s going to take Rick’s place? The whole point of the show was for Carl to grow into a strong, brave leader who could one day step into Rick’s shoes and continue down the same path. Rick’s character no longer makes sense without Carl, and as endearing as his relationships with Judith and Michonne are, they are no substitute for his relationship with Carl.
So, if Carl had survived perhaps I’d still be watching the show right now (I might’ve even been able to deal with Rick’s absence with Carl still around, although I would’ve found it very difficult), but I’m doubtful that even Carl and the Rick/Carl relationship could’ve kept me watching since I grew to dislike every other character and aspect of the show before I stopped watching. All of my favourite characters have been killed - Lori, Shane, Beth, Hershel, Glenn and Carl - and the new characters that have been introduced are not adequate replacements at all. Even the well-liked Jesus is a bland character that I have no emotional investment in at all. As for the other long-standing characters like Daryl, Michonne, Maggie, Carol, Rosita and Tara, I don’t like any of them anymore because of the way they’ve been written. That’s a huge problem, because TWD is a character-centric show and the characters are what keep people invested. That’s particularly the case for me, because I’m a very character-orientated person. Like, I’ll commit to watching shows I don’t even like just because I love the character(s) (e.g. The Punisher).
Putting the characters aside, there’s just no plot there anymore either. Granted, I haven’t watched season 9 so I don’t know whether it’s improved (although I’m assuming it hasn’t if you’ve recently stopped watching), but there’s been no real story except the Rick vs Negan plot for the last 3 seasons and it’s so dull. I know Negan is important in the comics and people would’ve rioted if he hadn’t been introduced on the show, but I just think that his entire arc has ruined the show. People are seduced by his character because of Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s performance (and their love for comic!Negan), but the character has no substance and is a poor antagonist in comparison to the legendary Governor. Also, where the hell is the story even headed now? I don’t know and at this point, I’m pretty sure the writers don’t know either. There’s no coherence or sense of vision. That’s largely because it’s such a popular show that it has been given the luxury of having as many seasons as it pleases, but it’s also a curse because it means that the writers hash out episodes and seasons with no end in sight, because they don’t know when it’ll end. TWD is supposed to be unpredictable, so no one could ever guess what the ending would be, but back in the day I could at least picture a feasible ending in my mind (which involved Carl, obviously) but now I can’t, because what’s the end goal? If Carl is gone, it’s not going to end with him in the “new world” continuing Rick’s legacy (which is what I always imagined it to be) and they’ve already found a safe haven and established a community built on friendship and cooperation with other communities which was another primary goal for the characters, so what else is left? What is a fitting ending for the story given the direction it has taken now? On any other post-apocalyptic show the basic goal would be to establish a cause and cure for the disease to attempt to save the world, but we’ve already been explicitly told TWD isn’t a show about finding a cure (which makes no sense, because honestly, who would just accept it and go ‘okay, this is the way things are now’?), so it makes no sense. It’s very difficult (if not impossible) for people to continue watching a show like this where all of the characters they become invested in eventually die and there is no sense of purpose or meaning. It’s an apocalyptic world, meaning is all anybody is really looking for, we don’t really care about the survival aspect (although that’s interesting), we want to see them find a new purpose and place in a world that has been ripped apart at the seams.
Sorry, I’ve gone off on a complete rant about this, I just have a lot of feelings about TWD. It makes me sad what’s happened to what was a once great show and it’s all because the people involved are so greedy. They don’t care about telling a brilliant story, they care about dragging it out for as long as possible to bleed every last dollar from it that they can. I’ll still most likely watch the last ever episode of the show, because I always do with shows that I’ve been a long-term fan of but stopped watching (such as TVD), just to get some closure. Also, since I love Rick’s character so much (and based on what I’ve seen he’s not dead so will eventually return to the show), I won’t be satisfied until I see how his story ends (and it better be a damn happy ending, because there’s been enough heartbreak on this show lmao).
Thanks for your ask :)

Shows With Good LGBT+ Rep
Now for starters, I’ll admit that I do not watch Riverdale. I tried it, didn’t like it, that’s basically it. The show does have LGBT rep (but not ace rep), I would never dismiss that, but they make sure to do the bare minimum. Based off the people I follow who are fans, scenes for the characters, more specifically Chonie (Cheryl x Toni), are either constantly deleted or they are nonexistent.
They have romantic scenes together but not nearly as many as the rest of the leading cast. This matters because one of the girl in the relationship, Cheryl, is advertised as a main, but yet she’s treated as a side character, and Toni is given even less. From what I’ve heard of the show, they dedicate an immense amount of time to the pairings of the main characters, but this focus does not seem to apply to Cheryl and her relationship with Toni. This applies to them as individual characters and as a pairing, as I’ve heard that neither character get much screen time.
I understand wanting representation and I understand wanting to support representation, but the point that I’m trying to make is that Riverdale is not the show to put your desire and need into because they will never give the proper treatment or storylines that these characters and relationships they deserve. You can still watch but just know that there are shows out there with much better rep. So I’m here today, writing this long essay that no one asked for, to inform you guys of LGBT+ rep that actually gets treated well by their writers and is given the screentime and love they deserve.
Warning: Some of these shows have been cancelled. If they do not say they’ve been cancelled, then that either means the show is still going or that it ended on it’s own terms.
Also this list does not include shows with the bury your gays trope.
Feel free to add on! This list is mainly comprised of some of my favorites. I tried to very best on the descriptions but I am a tired student with little free time.
#1: The Bold Type ~ Kat x Adena
Kat Edison, the head of the social media department of Scarlet magazine, meets Adena El-Amin, a proud Muslim lesbian photographer in episode one. The two bond and grow closer and closer, eventually causing the “out and proud hetero” Kat to question her sexuality and acknowledge her romantic feelings for Adena. Adena, as I said earlier, is a lesbian and Kat is bisexual.
#2: Black Lightning ~ Anissa x Grace
Ah, the first black lesbian superhero! The second season is currently airing on Tuesday’s at 9pm on the CW. Being the daughter of the infamous vigilante Black Lighting has it’s unexpected perks, like having superpowers! The intelligent activist Anissa Pierce discovers her powers of super strength and decides to use them for good and defend her city under the name of Thunder.
Grace Choi was in a few episodes of season one, but her relationship status as girlfriends with Anissa in the comics assures us that she will be coming back and we will see her and Anissa’s relationship develop further.
#3: Doctor Who ~ Bill x Heather
Throughout all of time and space, these two manage to come back to each other. After being split up by an alien in ‘Pilot’, Heather comes back to Bill’s rescue in the season finale, kissing her and making her immortal, leaving the both of them to travel across the universe together. Their journey has sadly come to an end in the series, but it came to a spectacular and happy one!
#4: BBC Class ~ Charlie x Matteusz
Part of the Doctor Who universe comes Class, a teenage sci-fi drama that takes place in Shoreditch. Now, first I should say that this is one of my favorite shows and you don’t need to watch Doctor Who in order to watch it. It is its own separate show.
Charlie Smith, an alien prince from the planet Rhodia, comes to earth to escape the Shadowkin, the monsters that killed his race. Him and the only other survivor of his planet, Miss Quill, come to earth and are instructed by the Doctor to hide themselves as human. Charlie attends Coal Hill Academy while Quill teaches.
Once prom comes around, Charlie asks the Polish boy, Matteusz, to be his date. The prom is hijacked by the Shadowkin and it is revealed to Matteusz that Charlie is an alien, but he doesn’t mind because it does not change the way he feels about him. The two continue to date throughout the series whilst fighting off aliens with four of their friends and Miss Quill
This show has been cancelled, but audios have been made since then to fill in the gaps between episodes and there is a chance there might be more! Also there are three books!
#5: In The Flesh ~ Kieren x Simon
The dead have come back to life! Kieren and Simon are both PDS sufferers, meaning they have partially deceased syndrome, meaning that they died and were brought back to life. Series 1 is centered on Kieren Walker, a 18 year old boy who died back in 2009, who is adjusting to his new zombie life and dealing with the people who want him back in the ground.
In series 2, Simon is introduced as a part of an PDS activist who is fighting for equal treatment for PDS sufferers while trying to find the first risen to bring on the second rising. Connected by a mutual friend, Simon and Kieren are introduced to each other, and the two strike up a relationship which develops into something romantic.
#6: Faking It ~ Multiple Characters
In an attempt to gain popularity, Karma and Amy fake being lesbians, but after a kiss at the school’s prep rally, Amy realizes that she isn’t as straight as she thought she was. In fact, she is head over heels in love with her childhood best friend, Karma. She confides in the out and proud Shane about her feelings for Karma and asks for advice on how to get a girlfriend. This show, while not always perfect, is incredibly diverse. Amy is bisexual, Shane is gay, Lauren is intersex, and in season 3, Shane forms a crush on the new student, Noah, and after their first kiss Noah comes out as trans to Shane.
The show was unfortunately cancelled after three seasons, leaving much of the story still left unsaid, but the show still has an enjoyable and satisfying ending, even if it wasn’t the ending the creator wanted. The creator’s ideal ending, had he been given the chance to write it, was that Karma would eventually realize that she herself is bisexual too.
#7: Hit The Floor ~Multiple Characters
Jude x Zero
Junior sports agent Jude Kinkade brings basketball sports star Zero to LA on the promise to be a star. One night in a limo before Zero flies to an away game, Jude, to his surprise, kisses Zero. When Zero comes back, the two begin a friends with benefits relationship that develops into something deeper, and the two fall in love.
Lionel x Eve
Lionel’s sexuality has never been explicitly stated in the show. She had sex with many men and the majority of viewers assumed she was straight. That was until the cunning Eve came in. The two decide after a brief meeting to go and get drinks together which ends up with them having sex. Later, Lionel admits to Jude, that she has slept with many women before Eve. Their relationship is complicated and it’s much different from the other relationships on the show.
Jude x Noah
Due to the show’s unexpected renewal and switch from VH1 to BET, not all actors returned. Adam Senn (Zero) did not want to return, but never fear, because the show’s creator wasn’t about to let the beautiful Jude Kinkade go to waste!
A year after his break up with Zero, Jude’s best friend Lionel takes him out for drinks in the hopes to find him a hunk and get him laid. Later that night, Jude and Noah meet, hook up, and move on with their lives. Until the next day when Jude sees Noah at the Devils arena and finds out that the two will be working together.
Hit The Floor has not been renewed or cancelled.
#8: Wynonna Earp ~ Multiple Characters
Waverly x Nicole
i’m sure many of you have heard of these two, but incase you haven’t, let me introduce you to Waverly and Nicole! Waverly, the younger sister to the Earp heir, and Nicole, a sheriff at the Purgatory police department, strike up a romantic relationship after Waverly ends things with her shitty boyfriend Champ. These two are so cute and are head over heels in love with each other.
Jeremy x Robin
Jeremy is introduced in season 2 and Robin is introduced in season 3. After discovering a murder tree, Robin goes to the police station in search of help. Directed to Jeremy, Robin explains everything he saw, then the two go on a date to investigate the murder tree, and after that the two become boyfriends.
Warning: The show, while amazing with LGBT characters, does not treat their POC characters well.
#11: Brooklyn Nine-Nine ~ Holt and Rosa
Raymond Holt is captain of the 99th precinct. He is married to his longtime partner Kevin, who often guest stars on the show, and the two of them are truly iconic. Holt has fought hard for gay rights in the police department since joined the force. As a out gay black man, Holt had to fight and work hard to get to his position as captain.
Rosa Diaz is bisexual and she is played by a bisexual actress. Rosa is a secretive, hard, ruthless, and a soft bean of a character. She is one of the key characters to the Nine-Nine. She has yet to have a steady girlfriend but here’s to hoping that she will have one next season!
#10: BBC Cuffs ~ Multiple Characters
Jake x Simon
Don’t sleep with the enemy. New PC Officer, Jake Vickers, joins the police force and meets the well known and disliked solicitor, Simon Reddington. Despite the fact that they are on opposing sides that hate each other, the two begin dating. They try to keep their professional life out of their relationship to avoid conflict. But alas, that’s where the sweet angst comes in.
Donna x Alison
The time these two start dating it unclear, but when the show begins it is said that they’ve been together for a few years. They’ve been living happily together for quite some time. Donna is part of the main cast as a police officer and is given a lot of screen time in action. Alison is a side character who makes a few appearances throughout the show but her interactions with Donna are sweet, beautiful, and realistic.
This show has been cancelled.
#11: Shadowhunters ~ Magnus x Alec
Ghaad, these two are the best. A gay shadowhunter and a bisexual warlock fall in love. Malec has good communication. Magnus and Alec have their own storyline and a storyline with each other, making them both equally important and have intimate/emotional scenes. The show also makes sure to tackle harmful bisexual stereotypes. (Thanks to @spicychipsdemon for helping me write this one.)
This show has been cancelled but it’s being given a special to wrap up the story.
#12: Superstore ~ Mateo x Jeff
An employee and district manager meet at the Cloud 9 store during a strike. Mateo is a out gay man and so is Jeff, the thing is that his cannot date the employees at the store so the two of them keep their relationship private from the other coworkers, because they would not be able to keep it a secret from Jeff’s boss. These two are actually really cute and they’re hilarious and underrated to be quite honest.
#15: Orphan Black ~ Multiple Characters
Besides the white girl dreads, these two are nice. They are the sci-fi couple that beat the shit out of the bury your gays trope. A clone and a woman who is assigned to look after that clone, uncoincidentally meet. What starts as an assignment is developed into something much deeper, leading Delphine to realize she’s bisexual. These two are happily living their life making crazy science with each other.
There are more LGBT characters in the show. There is a trans clone but unfortunately he is only in one episode. One of the main clones, Sarah is revealed to be bisexual in s4 and her foster brother Felix, a series regular, is gay.
#16: Picnic at Hanging Rock ~ Multiple Characters
Three schoolgirls and their governesses mysteriously disappear on Valentines Day in 1900 at the infamous Hanging Rock. This show, while slow in some areas, transformed the 1967 book written by Joan Lindsay. What was initially about the disappearance of three girls and the attempt to find them was changed into a six part series about the repression of sexuality and expression of young girls. Miranda, Irma, and Marion, are the three young women that go missing, and they are all lesbians. There are two more characters in the story: Mike and Albert. They had a close relationship in the book but the tv show made their relationship canonically romantic.
The show does suffer in the sense that hetero couples that barely existed in the book get more screen time and make out sessions than they should. I included this show because character wise it’s so drastic from it’s original content and it ends up putting wayyyy more focus on the girls than the book did. It turned a simple plot into a meaningful story about gender roles and sexuality and three girls trying to break free of them and two boys falling in love and running away together. Not a perfect show, but damn if it didn’t do some things right. Still recommend.
This show is a miniseries. Unlike other series, it ends where the book ends.
#17: One Day At A Time ~ Elena x Syd
If you haven’t watched these two then I don’t know wtf you’re doing. This show is precious and they are precious and god just watch it already honestly. Elena is a lesbian and Syd is a non-binary lesbian. Once a criminal breaks loose and the two have to cancel their plans to go to comic con, the two are trapped in their home with the rest of their family. As the evening builds up, Elena finally gets the courage to kiss Syd.
#18: Crashing ~ Sam x Fred
This show and this relationship is f*cking wild and it’s amazing. The show surrounds a group of people who are guardians to an abandoned hospital and they live in it. Sam meets Fred on his birthday when the two are paired up for a scavenger hunt. They relationship is odd at first with Sam constantly flirting with Fred and blatantly ignoring his feelings for him. These feelings rise to the surface and force Sam to confront them when Fred gets a rich bf who wants them to move in together.
This show has been cancelled. The show does not end with a cliffhanger. The show does end with Sam finally leaning in a kissing Fred.
#19: Charmed (2018) ~ Mel x Niko
Now this show is only one episode in so who knows where this show and relationship will go but it’s off to a good start with having the Mel and Nico relationship as the only romantic relationship in the show so far. I did not pay attention to the advertising of this show but as far as I know the show kept this relationship under wraps as a happy surprise for it’s premiere. The pilot has it’s flaws but it is cute, and to me personally, it works for me better than the original. These two have been dating for a while. Nico is a detective while Mel is just finding out months after her mothers death that she is a witch. A lot is going on. The pilot was interesting enough to get me to continue. The sisters are amazing and I hope the writers keep this relationship up front. This show not only has a lesbian relationship as it’s main love story right now but the three sisters are all women of color.
This show and the actresses have been facing a lot of racist backlash so any support to ensure a future seasons be amazing!
#20: The Halcyon ~ Toby x Adil
(Ayyyeeee I got to use my own gif go follow at @tlmedits please)
Honestly f*ck BBC for cancelling so many good shows with LGBT characters. The Halcyon is a tv show that takes place during the 1940′s. Now, unlike many other periodic shows, this one is diverse, including poc and gay characters in the cast and giving them good storylines. The Halycon hotel is own by the Hamilton family, and Toby is the youngest son. Adil is a bartender in the hotel lobby. One night, while Toby is hiding from a woman his mother had set him up with, he runs into Adil who then kisses him. The two the next day begin a relationship.
As I mentioned before, this show was cancelled.

Monday Night Raw 5/6/19 Review
The night started off by torturing the brand split, but not quite getting rid of it. Vince McMahon was out, and just said that this would be an episode that we would always remember. Roman Reigns came out to interrupt McMahon, and he said that he would show up on any show he wants if the crowd would have him, thankfully that got cheered. McMahon then said that if Reigns was ignoring the brand split, everyone would start to. Daniel Bryan then came out, I think to complain that he wanted a rematch although he was cut off. He was kissing McMahon’s ass and calling him an intellectual when Kofi Kingston came out. Kingston then told Bryan that he should’ve gone straight to Kingston if he wanted a rematch. Bryan then ran him down with similar rhetoric to the old feud, but this time Kofi was even more confident. McMahon then said that he would make a wildcard rule, where a couple roster members could work both brands. Bryan and Kingston argued again, and Drew McIntyre interrupted. He wanted to fight Reigns, because he has a huge ego. McIntyre was weirdly pro management in this promo, insulting Reigns for punching McMahon. McIntyre wanted a match with Reigns, so McMahon booked both that and a WWE Championship match between Kingston and Bryan.
AJ Styles then showed up, and they just transitioned into a new segment. Styles was pissed about the wildcard rule, the one that just came into existence. I don’t know why he is so pissed, but he is. Seth Rollins then came out to confront Styles about their brawl last week. He said that Styles showed his true colors by attacking him, and Styles said that Rollins was being a dick first. McMahon said that they were to riled up, so he booked them in a tag match against a random tag team.
Grade: D-. I just don’t know why they are still clinging to the idea of the brand split. This whole wildcard rule is just stupid. If you want Roman on both shows, then just get rid of the brand split. It is just dying a slow death, and I wish it would be faster. I dislike inconsistency, and that is all that this wildcard rule will be. The way that this will become tolerable is if NXT is involved. I just don’t like that they are trying to extend this brand split longer than it should be. Just pull the plug Vince. Pull the plug. Oh, and the tag match booking was fine. Vince was annoying when he was patting himself on the back, but that was the point.
Into the actual tag match, Styles and Rollins took on Bobby Lashley and Baron Corbin. The match quickly turned into a competition between the faces, hitting stereo dives in a dick measuring competition. They did very limited moves, but they seemed like they had good tag team chemistry. At one point, Styles went for the phenomenal forearm, but Corbin distracted him, allowing Lashley to hit a rough spear through the ropes. Lashley hit his stomach hard on the apron as he went down. Towards the end of the match, Styles tried to hit Corbin with the phenomenal forearm, but he dodged it and Styles sailed into Rollins. Styles then left the ring in a very heel move, leaving Rollins to be hit with the end of days for the heel win.
Grade: D+. Super didn’t care about this match. True that it continued the feud between Rollins and Styles, but other than that it was just unremarkable. Corbin got a pin over Rollins, which could be leading to a title match in the future. Oh to joy. This was a slow opening to Raw, because these first few segments took the entire first hour.
Sami Zayn came out for another promo insulting critics like me, and asked what we had to complain about. I said the first hour. He then said that although we can be positive sometimes, he said that we are still toxic after the fact. Bruan Strowman then came out to confront Zayn, and Zayn ran away through the corwd and around ringside. Even during the next match, they ran through the backstage area. Zayn tried to escape while throwing buckets and bins at him. Strowman eventually grabbed him and threw him in a dumpster. Right as a garbage truck came to grab it. I think Sami was thrown in a garbage truck.
Grade: C-. I am gonna cut this some slack because it is the beginning of the storyline, but I can’t give it anything higher than this. I am just sick and tired of Strowman fighting cowardly heels. He should be fighting someone who is actually tough, because that is what he deserves. Sami’s character is good, but I don’t see how it translates into an actual feud.
Lucha House Party then came out for a 6-man tag, and I had forgotten that they were on Raw, against some jobbers they won quickly with their finishers in succession. Fine
Backstage, Naomi, Natalya and Dana Brooke received invitations to Lacy Evan’s match later on. They said that she was weird, and made fun of her for scenting the envelopes. Alrighty.
Next was Ricochet against Robert Roode to qualify for the Money in the Bank match. Ricochet was guaranteed a spot in Money in the Bank, but he had to defend it after losing a match to Roode a couple weeks ago. Roode’s offense has changed quite a bit since he turned heel, becoming much grittier and more violent and overall better. However, Ricochet won quickly with the 630 senton.
Grade: C+. Could’ve gotten higher if it was more competitive, but this wasn’t given enough time. Still, I liked the work in this match, and I always love to see Ricochet.
Backstage, Rey Mysterio was walking around with his son Dominic, but they separated when Mysterio grabbed went into his locker room. Dominic went to grab water, and Samoa Joe followed him. However, Joe just talked to him backstage. Joe criticized Dominic for hoisting his dad up on his shoulders after the match. Joe just yelled at Dominic for a bit, and then told him to tell his dad that he was looking forward to their match at money in the bank.
Grade: B. This was an intimidating promo, but I thought it would be a bit more sinister. Dominic actually held his own while being all up in Joe’s face. I like this feud, and I am excited to see a real match between them. And I want to see how Dominic gets involved.
Next was Lacy Evans against a Jobber, with all the Money in the Bank ladies at ringside (Naomi, Natalya, Alexa Bliss and Dana Brooke). She squashed her with a woman’s right quick, and then Evans got on the mic and ran them all down for not being as good as her. She said that they shouldn’t bother trying to cash in on her, because she will take them down. Becky Lynch then came out for a wild brawl between her and Evans. Lynch was really kicking her ass this time around.
Grade: C+. It was a short brawl, but I was entertained. Maybe that was because I was so bored from the first hour, but I liked it. Still not a positive though.
Daniel Bryan then cut a promo backstage about how Kingston is a terrible champion due to his promotion of consumerism. Cool.
Backstage, the Usos were up to something.
And then the Viking Raiders were out for a match against Kurt Hawkins and Zack Ryder. I think this was a non-title match, but the Champions got a jobber entrance which is never good. However, they had an enjoyable match. Hawkins hit a great flying lariat off the apron, only for Erik to come by and knee him in the face. The Viking Raiders then got in the ring and hit Ryder with the Viking Experience for the win.
Grade: C. Yeah, I was wrong when I said this was entertaining. It was just frustrating and short. I wish they would actually let the Viking Raiders to get over before they were pushed so hard, but they pinned the champions in this match, so the story is not over.
And then we had the firefly funhouse, which I have heard has actually been really good. During the show, Wyatt was trying to find out what Mercy ate, and it turned out to be Ramblin Rabbit. Wyatt said that this was okay, because he expressed himself, and he rewarded Mercy with a picnic around a bunch of kids that were frowning.
Grade: B+. This one was kinda short, but shit it was creepy. I really liked that I lot. So I apologize for saying it was bullshit a few weeks ago. I really like that Wyatt is coming for the kids, it is awesome, and he should be back to a similar character with a twist in ring soon enough. This was my favorite part of the night.
Rollins then cut a promo on Styles, saying that he was going to beat his ass next time they see each other, because Styles made his intentions clear when he left the match. Unclear if this was a heel turn for Styles tonight, but we will see.
Next up was Roman Reigns vs. Drew McIntyre. McIntyre dominated in a similar way to their Wrestlemania match. McIntyre nailed Reigns with a reverse alabama slam onto the apron. He also countered a superman punch with an awesome spinbuster, so McIntyre was the real highlight of the match. Roman was about to get the win after a spear, but Shane McMahon ran out to cause the DQ with Elias. The beatdown was happening, and Miz ran in to chase McMahon away. However, Reigns was still hit with a claymore. Backstage, Shane was desperately trying to hide from Miz, and was actually successful until Charlie tried to interview him. Shane tried to hop in a care, but Miz fought him in the parking garage. Shane got the better of the match with a low blow, but Miz was very valiant during the fight.
Grade: B-. Lots of stuff to cover here, and I think it just edges into the positives. The match was fine but not great, and there seems to be a lot of rivalries brewing right now. McIntyre stood tall, but he should have gotten a clean win. As for Miz and Shane, their rivalry is as intense as ever. This all was just a lot, but it was fine in the end.
The Revival were set to have a tag team match against The Good Brothers, but the Usos interrupted on the mic before the match. They played a prank on the revival by putting Uscy hot in their trunks so that their sweat burns. Then the revival was rubbing their asses on the ground and making fools of themselves. Then they poured water on themselves, and started selling for the Uscy hot like crazy.
Grade: F. Fuck this. I get that they are trying to embarass the Revival because they are leaving, but do the stories need to be this stupid? Honestly, the Usos aren’t coming across great either, but having a bit of a change in their character was good. This was just stupid. The Revival are weirdly good at selling though, so that was kinda funny.
No Way Jose was out at ringside dancing around, but Lars Sullivan showed up. He beat down the Konga Line, and then destroyed Jose as well. One guy he hit with a freak accident onto the barricade. He hit Jose with a running sitout powerbomb before leaving.
Grade: B. Pretty good, but I just kinda don’t care about No Way Jose. The Konga people were good at selling, but this segment is always the same.
Backstage, Sullivan was in Vince’s office to intimidate him into extending the wildcard stuff to four people. He did. Well, I guess that means that Elias is getting suspended.
And in the main event, Kofi Kingston defended the WWE Championship against Daniel Bryan in the main event. The two went at it at a very high speed, but their interactions weren’t quite as smooth as the one at mania. At one point, Bryan back dropped Kingston out of the ring, and he messed up the landing and his head smacked the floor. Kingston attempted to use high flying to fight against Bryan with several splash variations off the top rope. In the end, Kofi was able to hit his trouble in paradise to retain.
Grade: B+. Pretty good, but not nearly as good as their encounter at wrestlemania. I think the right person won here, and it was a good way to wrap up the feud. I don’t know what Bryan will do from here, but I am sure he will be involved in a good feud.
Overall Grade: C+
Pros: Samoa Joe promo; Firefly funhouse; Sullivan Beatdown; Main event
Cons: opening promo; opening tag; strowman attack; raiders vs. tag champs; revival bullshit

@sssn-neptune-vasilias
Before this post goes on and on like my traditional long winded post do I wanted to say something.
I apologize.
Yeah surprised? You shouldn’t be I may disagree with your view but I’m not a monster and definitely no where near kob’s level of malice, venom and childishness and I hate to say this but I will defend myself, I disagree with that essement of me but I will also say you’re more than justified to be angry; now if you’ll indulge me, I’d like to elaborate on the apology for a bit.
I didn’t walk away happy with that post, it left a bitter taste in my mouth, again it wasn’t my intention to sound like I was attacking you and I can’t stress enough that me disliking rwby and being confused and disagreeing that it was phenomenal isn’t me attacking you or your point, I disagree with the quality the show has been upholding for several years, refusing to learn lessons, disrespecting fans, jarring jump cuts and so on.
So when I said I don’t understand nor see it as phenomenal, it wasn’t to make you feel inadequate for liking rwby and yeah I did say I had good taste and it was wrong of me to say that; it was a poor choice of words on my part.
And while I don’t think I deserve the chance I wanted to try rewording my disagreement on rwby in a kinder way, and if you don’t want to read that’s more than fair, that being said I’m hoping this can clear up any bad beef or at least my viewpoint.
[Ignore this section if you like]
This again and I stress this hard isn’t an attack on your enjoyment of the show, this is just a guy who grew up loving media stating why he thinks rwby volume 6 wasn’t good and why I feel Miles and Kerry should really focus on improvement.
I watched volume 6 with low expectations and yeah I was glad plot stuff was happening in the first few episodes, I was grateful to get out of the volume 5 house and off the volume 4 never ending roads, I was genuinely excited about maria’s fight and her weapons. I even expressed the rest of th volume can be bad and I can walk away happy with that in mind.
It was then with no effort from me I noticed the dip in quality from many different angles, it was evident that this volume was a fix it volume and yeah there may be some that say “well better late than never.” But I say too little too late, I’m not saying that if I prefered it not to be there but alot of these plot threads could have been wrapped up volumes prior. At least that seems to be the general consensus, and the problems not flaws constantly seemed to pile up, poor line delivery and writing, horrible animation, our “heros” are some of the worst sapient beings ever, watching a child get smacked, killing tons of faunus, no one saying shit when something that requires emotion pops up.
I mean all of ruby’s speeches were so inaccurate, my favorite one is when ruby states how far they got without adult help but she’s saying this while squating in an adult’s house, being led on this journey by two; one telling them to keep the lamp safe, going to another adult for help. This is all after they choose to agree to the dumbest plan out jaune’s mouth.
Then the mech fight which was upsetting for many reasons, I’ll spare you the long banter the literal death spiral the ship takes only for it to not have a scratch next episode ozpin or no still doesn’t explain the lack of damage, smoking and how it ruins tension.
I grew up loving books and video games (we couldn't afford tv early on) I fell in love with such amazing characters, worlds and their trinkets and creatures. Paper mario, Avatar, Mass effect, Dragon age, Final fantasy 6 & 9, Cowboy bebop, FMA and so on and all these things have amazing characters, stories, worlds and so on. things to invest me, characters I loved and hated for many good reasons, villians with great motivations, Heros with compelling stories, worlds with such love and care put into them.
Then last year it hit me, I was hoping rwby to these standards that are way beyond their reach, I eased up on them after that, as long as they can make the story or characters consistent I’d give them a pass, and yeah there’s many who saw my last train home post, but this was a earlier me, vol 6 was close to wrapping up, and there was a jarring jump cut three times in the same episode, adam’s reveal made me hate blake the only character besides the newly introduced maria and sun/neptune that I didn’t hate nor was ruined.
The adam vs yang fight while it used the monty files left kinda a bad taste in my mouth, like miles has been dishonest so many times it’s hard to believe when he’s genuine, kerry entice physical violence on the fans who don’t look at the supplemental material for the show, stuff they constantly retcon or contradict, it’s unfair to their fans and they seem to invalidate them every volume.
I’m always hoping miles and kerry will say something that will make them stop and realize how cruel they’re being not only to themselves but their own series, I know they can do better so it's a crying shame when they act this way.
There was also things I glossed over that were rushed and crammed in this volume solidifying it as a “fix it” volume but not only did alot of it weirdly complicate things it was rushed, before I could enjoy neo’s return, silver eyes came the very next episode, then jaune's sister came into existence, pyyrha’s statue that was a memorial for all the people at beacon? Was found by jaune and not her so called friend ruby, then after a spat with jaune oscar instantly forgives him and jaune learns nothing.
Don’t get me started how we were squating in one house to another.
Back on topic of why I...guess felt the need to tell anyone this. I recently watched the Steven universe finale and it cleared up, referenced and closed many small and big plot threads. And this series like it or not has been very consistent, enjoyable, had great music and characters. (lackluster fights but the character are pretty strong in the writing department) The finale blew me away, I felt “these characters deserve a happy ending, this show can end here and it be perfect.” And “I’d love more.” and these people work their hands to the bone on a smaller budget that miles and kerry take advantage of, employees they take advantage of and say they didn’t enjoy working for them, shane’s letter, miles insulting other better media without trying to fix his.
I’m not aiming this at you but I wanted to share some wise words that I favor alot from a wise man. “When you compliment or ignore the writing problems writing certain media make, you’re ignoring the work better writers put into their own work.” Those words stuck with me long ago, but I decided to ease up on ruby and gave it 4 episodes to at least connect two plot threads without stumbling, I let my love of media turn me vindictive and that’s not what media should do nor should I.
That being said my personal view on rwby is that it’s awful, there are so many better written media out there; and the writers have gone from ‘okay’ to venomous, entitled, backstabbing and dishonest people who don’t seem interested in improving.
So when you said it was phenomenal by brain concluded that you either missed the flaws or were maybe being paid to be positive and it was fucked up, wrong, look we may not agree on alot of things but we can agree on one thing.
I was rude, immatune, and hurtful and fuck that’s not who I am, I had to look at myself cause me explaining my issues with rwby helped me get past all the messed up static to get a clearly picture, I shouldn’t be asking this after what I did.
But I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me and if you don’t, fair.
But I hope my explanation helps clear things up if you even read it, and if you did read it, thanks for reading.

Free Fall: 2
Chapter 2: Conversations.
Sitting in your living room looking out at the setting sun there is a feeling of disbelief that just a week ago you’d fallen past your own window. Sipping on your cocoa of choice you lean back against tour coffee colored couch. Hands in your lap cradling the cup reflecting still.
How different would life be without you? You know it would still continue on. Your parents would age with that weight of sadness in their soul and eventually die. You apartment would be cleared out and rented to someone else, your job would find someone else to take your place, essentially you’d be replaced and no one would notice.
Below your current point of interest you see a white flash from an apartment across the street. Blinking a few times you sit up, walk over to your window, and see your pen pal trying to get your attention. Smirking you lift your window open and pick up the whiteboard you keep nearby.
Despite your impromptu flying session. Even as you refer to the fall as anything but an attempt on your life--because according to the police you’d been deliberately shoved over the railing, you know it’s your only way to cope with everything. Fighting reality with humor, oh what a way to live?
Thankfully you survived the whole thing without being scarred about high places. You still enjoy looking out your windows, even sitting in the window sill and dangle your feel out the window. You refuse to allow the asshole to take that from you.
Sipping your cocoa you watch Shane scribble on his whiteboard and hold it up to you. Like you he sits in on the edge of his window, his legs swinging against the side of his building. As much as you’d like to say you have more interaction with Shane other than with whiteboards you can’t. Shane works odd hours of the day and despite best efforts from both sides it just never worked out.
HOW ARE YOU FEELING TODAY?
Smiling you wipe away the response from three days ago when you last saw Shane. Writing your response you show it to him. You both decided to use capital letters just to ensure there can’t be any confusion, however, Shane doesn’t have the best handwriting. It makes for some interesting conversations.
A LITTLE TIRED TODAY. MY HEAD HURTS SOME, HOW ARE YOU TODAY?
Shane nods his head, the floof of brown hair bobbing with a life of its own. A quiet chuckle leaves your lips. In all honesty you rather enjoy your time with Shane. You find him attractive and caring and thoughtful and overall enjoyable to talk with. Part of your… well a large part of you wonders if your opinion of him would change if you really knew him.
Before you realize it Shane responds.
WORK WAS HARD. I’M SORRY YOU’RE NOT WELL TODAY. HAVE YOU EATEN DINNER? I CAN BRING YOU SOME BLOOD PUDDING.
You cringe at the thought of blood pudding and stick your tongue out at Shane. His laughter carries across the real estate between you.
THAT’S NOT EVEN FUNNY. IF YOU HAVE CHINESE ON THE OTHER HAND, WE COULD HAVE A DATE.
Watching Shane he quickly scribbles on to his whiteboard and flips it around to you. Questioningly you look at the words written there.
OKAY. I’LL BE OVER IN 20 MINUTES.
Before you can respond Shane is back in his apartment, his window closed, and whiteboard out of sight. Blinking you wonder just where the hell he’s gone off too. Remaining in right where you are you wait for Shane to pop back in the window with one of his big goofy grins on his face.
It never happens and it dawns on you that he took your response as gospel. Falling out of your window in a blind panic you scramble to your feet. Your apartment less than than presentable to anyone let alone Shane. This will be your first actual meeting.
Rushing around like a chicken with it’s head lopped off you try to get your main areas into a decent shape before Shane shows up. It really shouldn’t be that big of a deal, since you didn’t really ask him to come over, but still, your nerves are running high. You hope he’s everything you’ve built him up to be.
It’d been nearly seven months since you first started to communicate with Shane. At first he was just the hot guy you’d occasionally see across the way. Normal people would look directly across from their apartment but you’d glance down to the small public garden erected between the buildings.
It was during this time that you’d see Shane walk across his windows, going about his business. When you’d first really start watching him, he’d been dating a really gorgeous woman. They looked happy, which stung a little as you’ve been painfully single for about three years now. You didn’t hate or was jealous of their love, you were happy for them. Finding a really good love anymore is hard and takes a lot of work.
Shortly after you’d watch his windows for inspiration and hope for your own love life, Shane and his girlfriend broke up. It hit him hard. You could see by his actions that he wasn’t expecting it in the slightest. You felt bad for him.
It’d been a fairly warm summer afternoon when you’d finally made eye contact. It’d been by accident. You were sitting in the window seal just looking down when you noticed he was doing the same. Back then the majority of his hair was a faded sea green with his natural brown very much evident.
You just happened to have your whiteboard, the one you had before your current one, and wrote a quick hello. Shane looked at you perplexed by the message and quickly disappeared from the window. You’d been afraid you’d crossed a line, or made him feel like your invaded his privacy in some way, but within a minute or so he reappeared in the window with his own whiteboard.
Everything from then on, until now, is history. You’ve shared some deep conversations, had more than your fair share of laughter and inside jokes, and… in fact if you really think about it, Shane knows more about you than anyone else.
Hearing a knock at your door you toss the clothes in your hand into the teal hamper in your gray scaled bathroom. Peeking through the privacy window you don’t see a soul in the hallway. Shifting your position to try and see along the walls of along your door, you still see no one in sight. Frowning you unlock the door and slowly open it.
When it’s wide enough to fit your upper half out you look down the hallway each way before looking down. Maybe Shane left the food at your door? The carpeted hallway is bare of any such parcels. Frowning you look at your door finding something stuck to it.
A note, you realize pulling it off. Looking around quickly once more you retreat into your apartment closing the door and locking it again. Puzzled as to who would leave you a note and not just call or speak to you in person you unfold it.
Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water. Jack shoved Jill down the hill and laughed when he killed her.
Scrunching your nose in confusion and disgust at the twisted nursery rhyme you look the note over again. It’s typed out instead of hand written with no signature. Walking to the counter where your phone is currently charging you call the detective in charge of your case.
“Hello, Detective Oswald?” You ask when your call is picked up.
“Yes, Miss Y/n, to what do I owe your call?” Detective Oswald asks in the background you can hear the hustle of the precinct.
“You said I could call you if anything weird happened and I just got a note on my door about two minutes ago. No one was in the hallway and I was at the door within seconds of hearing the knock.” You tell the detective calmly as you can.
“What did the note say?” Detective Oswald asks. The serious tone in his voice puts you a little more relaxed. At least you know he’s taking you seriously. You repeat what is written on the note verbatim. He tells you to put the note in a envelope and he’d be by as soon as he could to collect the note. You thank him for his time and service and hang up. Taking a few photos of the note you find an unused envelope and write Oswald on the front.
Placing it in a cabinet above your refrigerator you send the photos you took to your Google Drive before placing it on the charger again. As you stand pondering what is going on with the note and the attempt on your life you hear another knock on the door. Holding still a few seconds another group of knocks come.
Following the same routine as earlier your peek through the privacy window your heart picks up. Mouth dry you slowly unlock your door praying you can talk by the time you have the door open. Everything moves in slow motion but it still feels too fast as you open the door to stare up into Shane’s eyes.
“Whoa…” Shane whispers flashing you a cocked smile.
Bashfully you drop your gaze, looking anywhere but at Shane with a small smile on your lips. “Whoa yourself. I didn’t think you’d be so tall.” You say honestly. He’s just as good looking up close as he is from afar.
You knew his eyes were blue, it was very obvious even from as far away as he lives, but up close and personal they’re startling blue. A blue that reminds you of Jackieboy, but... that’s crazy. Right? You decide to put the thought away. Even if Shane were Jackieboy having you out him would do no good for anyone.
“Is that a good thing?” He asks. His accent is thick and endearing to you. Your eyes snap back to his face. His accent is just divine to your ears. You could listen to him talk for hours without a complaint.
You’ll never admit it out loud but you are so completely attracted to voices and accents. You already knew Shane hails from Ireland. That he moved to the US when he was in his late teens with his mother after a split from his father.
Still, you weren’t prepared for how strong his accent still is. “A good thing. I’m a bit of the shorter side, so it’s good to have tall people around.” You tell him not sure if it came across the right way. Standing awkwardly in the door you realize you haven’t invited him in and he even has your food!
“Oh, my momma would smack me upside the head for being so rude; Please, come inside. I do request you remove your shoes after the door is closed.” You say quick to jump to the side. Shane nods at your request and enters the apartment muttering a thank you in response.
Could your face feel any hotter? You doubt it but you assume you’ll know the answer for sure by the end of the night. Accepting the food from Shane you set everything out on the kitchen counter and grab two plates and forks.
“Shane,” You call bringing the wandering Irishman back to your kitchen. You feel at odds with him just browsing your personal effects, despite them being out on display and apart of your normal decor.
“I like your place. It feel homey.” Shane says accepting a plate and fork from you.
Blushing again you mutter a thank you and dish yourself up some grub. Once you both have a good pile of food on your plate you take Shane over to the table and sit down. It feels weird but you’re more comfortable than you originally anticipated. With Shane here it feels like an old friend has come to visit.
Within seconds you’re talking freely and happily with Shane. You talk about how your day has gone, about this and that, and a bunch of other odd things. You ask Shane about Irish butter cookies and if he has any good recipes. Whether it feels like an eternity ago you still owe cookies to Jackieboy Man.
Shane tells you he has the perfect Irish butter cookie recipe and will share it with you. You cheer and thank him for his help and when he asks why you need the recipe you tell him the truth. “I was saved by Jackieboy Man. When I fell he swooped in and kept me from being a pancake. I asked if there was anything I could do to thank him, and after some back and forth he finally say Irish butter cookies. I’ve been searching the web, but unfortunately I couldn’t make a decision on which recipe. So, since I have you here, I thought you’d been the best person to ask.”
Shane nods his head agree. “Well, good thing you have a good Irishman living close by.” He teases winking at you. Your face flames, spreading into the tips of your ears.
You roll your eyes trying to appear unfazed by his comment but you doubt it works. You both clear the table and while talking some more Detective Oswald stops by for the note. You hand it too him and he asks you a few questions to which you don’t have good answers for, simply because you don’t know the answers, and he takes his leave.
Shane asks about the notes and you tell the truth. He asks if you’re safe in your apartment and you promise you’ll be fine. “Besides,” you add smiling genuinely at Shane. “I have you just across the way to look out for me.”
Shane blushes this time. You can see his pale skin pink at your words. “Y-yeah, you got me.” He agrees, his words meaning more than you can guess at this point in time.
Walking through his door Shane closes it and leans against it. You’re more than he could have imagined. Your smile is stellar and your laugh is infectious, and… and what is he thinking? You’re way too good for him.
Walking into his small kitchen Shane lifts a small box tucked away in a drawer out and searches through for the recipe he promised you. It wasn’t his intention to have you make his great-great grandma’s cookies but he also couldn’t lie to you about having a recipe. You asked so innocently he answered without much thought.
Within seconds of finding the card Shane hears a woman and child scream outside his building. Head jerking up, Shane rushes to his bedroom putting the card on his bed. He changes with blinding speed before throwing his window open and jumps into the night.
There are citizens in need of help tonight and he will not fail them. Landing on the ground Jackieboy Man scans the empty streets, listening for the crying, before zeroing in on the direction he needs and bolts off. He may not be Superman, but he has his own set of powers and he will use them to keep the innocent safe and bring the criminals to justice.

Smackdown Live! Review- February 20th, 2018
What’s this? A review for Smackdown?? But we haven’t seen one in weeks!?
I am finally here for Smackdown again. Nice nice. Smackdown hasn’t been too great as of late, in my personal opinion. They’ve had really shitty storylines and the matches have been so stale lately; it just hasn’t been good wrestling. I’m hoping for a good show tonight!
Please let me know what your thoughts on the show were, as well as what you thought of this post! Any type of feedback is welcomed. Thanks for checking out the blog!
Opening: AJ Styles and company
Renee Young opened the show (god I adore her) and welcomed AJ Styles to the ring to get his thoughts on his fatal five-way match at Fastlane coming up.
Personally, I hate this idea. I want AJ to not face Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn week after week. We’ve seen this for the past 4 months, but it feels like it’s been an entire year for this program. It’s a very predictable formula now, and we all know that AJ is going to win at Fastlane so he and Shinsuke can fight at Mania, which should actually be a fantastic match.
AJ, of course, was spewing lines about how he’s going to win at Fastlane, and he was shortly joined by Baron Corbin and Kevin Owens. They were also telling tales of how they were going to win. Kevin started calling out Shane McMahon, and of course, Shane came out to answer Kevin’s call.
Shane needs to step back and stop involving himself in this storyline. If the plan is for Kevin against Shane at Mania this year, then he should be preparing for that instead. I think the universe is done with seeing Shane in the ring, whether it be as special guest ref or as a competitor. It’s overplayed, and it’s getting so old.
Kevin Owens vs. Dolph Ziggler
If you haven’t been paying close attention to Smackdown, Ziggler has returned home after entering the Rumble as the 30th entrant. He was unsuccessful, but he wants to enter the title picture again to prove that he’s still got something in the tank. Ziggler is a great wrestler, but he really serves as a jobber to new guys who get called up from NXT. It’s a shame that Ziggler’s been wasted this past year, so hopefully, he can find something being involved with the title match.
Dolph immediately goes in on Kevin as soon as the bell rings. Owens eventually rolls out of the ring, and Ziggler goes right after him, to which Kevin took advantage and knocked into Ziggler. Once the two got back into the ring, Ziggler hit Owens with one of his beautiful dropkicks. The match has since been fought outside of the ring.
Finally entering the ring again, Kevin tried for a senton but missed as Ziggler rolled out of the way. Ziggler goes on the offensive with a huge pick-up slam, followed by a huge elbow to the face. Ziggler seems like he’s setting the pace for the match, but Kevin quickly takes it away from him and nails Ziggler with that canon ball roll into the turnbuckle. Ziggler rolls out to the ring apron after Kevin tries for a pinfall, to which Ziggler kicked out at two.
The program does that thing where it splits into two screens and it makes it hard to keep focusing on the match, but it seems as though Kevin has control of the match. He has brought Ziggler back into the ring, and has kept him in a headlock for most of the “break”. Ziggler finds a way to crawl around to Kevin’s back, and in an act of desperation, Kevin throws the both of them out of the ring. Once back in, Ziggler finds his heart and hits a nice DDT on Owens.
Ziggler has built some momentum, but it, unfortunately, is wasted when Kevin knocks him down and lands a nice gutbuster, followed by an elbow from the top rope. Owens then tries for a huge senton from the top rope, but Ziggler gets his knees up and hits Kevin with the famouser! Kevin kicks out at two.
Kevin and Dolph exchange a few blows, and Dolph hits Kevin enough to get him to wobble, to which Dolph begins to set up for the superkick, but it’s countered by Kevin, who then goes for the pop-up powerbomb, which Dolph counters and hits Kevin with the zig-zag! Sami Zayn then comes down to the ring to distract Dolph and that will allow Kevin to kick Dolph in the back of the head and get the win. This was a pretty satisfying match! I hope the rest of the show is like this match.
Jinder Mahal’s List
Jinder and his uninjured friend have come out to the ring to reveal Bobby Roode’s “Top 10 List”. A few weeks ago, Smackdown Live debuted their ranking system, which didn’t sit well with everyone. Since last week, Randy and Bobby have been going at it, and it’s a bit of a weird feud since Randy hasn’t been on TV as of late (he wasn’t at the live show I went to, which was a small bummer).
Bobby joined Jinder in the ring and challenged him to a match, then Randy came out and tried to get involved. The whole thing ended in a mess, and after a confrontation between Shane and Daniel Bryan in the back, the announcement was made that Bobby Roode and Randy Orton will fight at Fastlane for the United States championship. Weird, but I’ll take it. Hey, this segment should’ve been a match instead!
Charlotte/Becky/Naomi vs. The Riott Squad
Didn’t we see this on Raw last night, too? I’m tired of the WWE thinking that all their women can only compete in tag matches. It sucks that Absolution and the Riott Squad debuted at the same time. I’m sick of both factions already.
The match is literally following the same formula from last night’s tag match, but the face team seems to have the upperhand tonight. It’s always fun to see Naomi’s athleticism in the ring, but this would’ve been better if it was a singles match!
When the match continues after the commercial break, Corey Graves comments that this the same thing we see on Monday nights! Thanks Corey!
The crowd seems really into the match, which is a good sign. The commentary team was talking about the Riott Squad, and I didn’t catch who it was, but someone said that all of the members of the Riott Squad are here to do the same thing: make a name for themselves. And they can’t do that with the same three women in their way. I think this could be said for the Absolution women as well. If they face the same people week after week after week, how do we expect them to grow and make their own careers?
The match was actually pretty good, and I think that had to do with the crowd’s enjoyment of it. There was a moment where Becky was tagged in, and she hit a missile dropkick on Sarah, but Becky seemed to have lost her footing? The match really slowed down and lost it’s hype after Becky came in, which I hate saying because I love Becky, but she really did break up the pace in a bad way. The Riott Squad were victorious in the match.
Chad Gable/Shelton Benjamin vs. New Day
Oh my god, another match that we see every week. Does Smackdown really not have any other talent that can wrestle? I’m sure they do because I am so bored with the tag division as of late. Give me Breezango.
It is kind of fun to see Gable German suplex and belly to belly Big E a lot; it shows his athleticism, and it’s also funny to see their faces when they do this.
The match itself wasn’t very exciting. All it had were one or two tag ins, a suplex, a shining wizard, and a pinfall. Xavier Woods won the match for New Day, which earns them a title shot at Fastlane against the Usos. Again.
Also the Bludgeon Brothers are fighting local talent again and I do not care to comment on the “match”. This could’ve been time for another women’s match. The only thing I liked about this was Corey Graves screaming and laughing at the whole thing.
AJ Styles vs. Baron Corbin
I don’t think I’ve seen these guys face off in a while, or at all even. I had a weird realization while Baron was on his way to the ring: I’ve been sleeping on Baron Corbin! He’s a bit too tall, and kind of gangly, but he’s a strong athlete! I haven’t really ever seen Baron in a good light, and I have no idea why I had this reaction when he came out, so we all know who I’m pulling for in this match.
Baron’s power was on display before the break as he slammed AJ on the mats outside of the ring. The match started off at a good pace without setting up any huge moves. I like that for the main events a lot of the time. We don’t always need these huge spots or anything for a main event, sometimes we just want a good ass match.
Back from the break, and we see Baron deliver a huge clothesline that “almost took AJ’s head off!” Baron is dominating AJ for the moment, but AJ’s great ring awareness lets him sneak out of Baron’s way and send Baron right into the ring post, followed by the barricade. With the match outside the ring, AJ is thrown towards the table and Baron scurries back into the ring, but AJ IS MADDD and he charges back to the ring to hit Baron right in the head with the Phenomenal Forearm.
We’re getting a pretty good match here as Baron tees off on AJ in the corner. He knocks into AJ pretty hard, and Baron wants to set AJ up for a superplex. He doesn’t get very far as AJ counters, but Baron has a counter of his own and hits a really nice Deep 6. Baron tried to set up the End of Days, but AJ traps Baron in a calf crusher. Baron finds his way out and buys himself some time to recover.
Styles tries to set up for the forearm again, but Baron is right there to stop him. He does his best to knock AJ over, but AJ is able to hit the forearm this time and he gets the win over Corbin. Kevin and Sami interrupt AJ’s celebration and try to attack him, and Kevin takes care of AJ and Sami goes after Baron, but Baron is ready for it and he hits Sami with the End of Days! Baron walks out looking at the Mania sign as the show ends.
I didn’t think this was the best show, but I liked the opening and the closing match at least. Smackdown needs to figure out what it’s doing for Mania before Mania happens. Hopefully they pick up the pace leading up to Fastlane.
Thanks for checking out the blog! Be on the lookout for more posts during the week!
Thanks!
-Casey
