{By Your Side Tonight}
Tumblr media
Program: As the 501st's support agent, you've come to grow fond of your boys. Even if they're reckless and obvious. You only just marked it up to be a part of their charm, and two members of the boys in blue enjoy pulling at your heartstrings. Always trying to stay one move ahead of them in your game, a night out to 79s has you kneeling before one of them after what should have been a fatal blaster shot.
Pairing: Arc Trooper Fives x GN! Reader
Side Pairing Ref: Jesse x OC! Embrey, Rex x GN! Reader -> tiny hints
Genre: Fluff, Teasing, Flirty Humor
Length: 3930w
Warnings: Flirting, Petname (Cy'are, Little One, Mesh'la), Blaster wound, Some swears
Counselor Note: So excited to be apart of @cloneficgiftexchange!! The lovely @miaowshacat requested a funny/serious situation for their gift. Hopefully, you enjoy this! My sense of humor is definitely flirty irl, so I know that's not typically what humor is considered.
Request Prompt: "Please stop getting shot, it stresses me out". "Oh, well if you don't like it".

Skyscrapers shoot pillars of faint illumination through the night sky, and speeder taillights leave trails of neon in their wake. As war rumbles across the galaxy, the blaring bass and sonic speakers from the surrounding clubs cause Coruscant's lower levels to vibrate. Overly excited club goers stumble and giggle amongst themselves on the walkways as wary eyes peer out from alleys.
Even on nights out, a heavy unease seeps into your bones once you step onto the landing platform. Your eyes narrow as you try to take everything in, but not even the bright signs help you see past the heavy rainfall tonight.
“If you keep glowering like that, you’ll scare away anyone who might consider asking your sour ass for a dance,” Fives shoulders past you and throws a wink over his shoulder.
You roll your eyes and follow the rowdy boys in blue closer to the pulsing music, “I’d be more worried about anyone seeing past your ego, if I were you. You do know that sweet words and drinks will only compensate for so much. Right, Fives?”.
Jesse howls in laughter, and Echo claps your shoulder. “Got you there, vod. For the so-called ‘people’s man’, you’ve been striking out lately,” Echo laughs. Each clone walks beside you with buzzing excitement, fitted with their new planetside outfits. Similar to their blacks, they all wear a tight, compression top with short sleeves with matching cargo pants.
“Who’s side are you on, traitor,” Fives shouts back. With an unconcerned shrug, Fives’ face melts into a smile of soft admiration: “Maybe, I have my heart set on someone, and I don’t want to fuck it up”.
Your breath hitches. For the faintest moment, you catch Fives’ eyes flickering to you. The rain splutters as it lands in the forming puddles by the line to 79s. A few stray away to kiss his cheek bone and trail down his glowing expression. They hang, frozen, on his jawline before they race down the column of his neck and find a home in the dip of his collarbone. Quick as the moment, the storm thickens, and Fives refocuses on his brothers leaving you with a racing heart.
“The side of reason, di’kut,” you cough as you shuffle closer to the entrance when the line moves. Knots twist and sit heavy in your stomach as your gaze shifts from one group of friends in the line across the walkway to a group of illegal speeders in the next landing bay. Pushing a deep breath through your lungs, you roll your shoulders. Even shifting your weight from side to side, you still feel restless surrounded by some many unfamiliar people.
Fives takes you in with a gentle look and holds your face, “Hey, look at me. Look at me, okay?” His soft voice rings clear from the cybernetic cacophony that makes your ears prick. You meet his honey colored eyes and feel your gaze soften. He leans in close to your ear, “Everything is going to be okay, I promise you. 79s is the safest club down here, and you have a small army of clones that’ll have your back. I’ll be by your side the whole night if you’d like”.
Calloused fingertips carefully soothe your warm cheeks. Cool droplets of rain help tame the frenzied tingles burning your skin. Fives looks towards his brothers while carefully running his hands up and down your arms to help ease your nerves. While you think about his offer, you notice the coy looks and smiles directed at Fives over his shoulder. Pushing a heavy breath through your nose, you close your eyes and lean into his hold. Fives’s hand naturally falls to rest at your hip.
Swallowing the lump in your throat, it plummets into your stomach. Crushing the few butterflies who hoped to soar. “Well, I would hate to sour your night,” you shoot him a teasing smile and pat his chest moving up in line. Your lips purse as you hand over your ID to the bouncer, and the thumping stereo only further irritates you.
While you wait for the rest of the group to hand over their IDs, a warm hand rests between your shoulder blades. Although very similar to the ones that held you moments ago, you know it belongs to another. Slightly larger and holds you with a firm tenderness that you allow yourself to ease into. “Safe to assume this game’s continuing tonight then?,” Rex asks as he shuffles closer to you, allowing Hardcase and Dogma to pass over their credentials.
“Care to elaborate on what game you’re referring to, Captain?” you ask with a raised brow. Your blood sears through your veins as Rex meets your smoldering gaze with a knowing glint in his eye.
“There is not a single person who doesn’t see the two of you playing cat and mouse,” Rex lowly explains, “I’m getting quite bored watching you play around, little one”.
His hand trails up and across your shoulder line to rest on your upper arm, tucking you into his side. The only relief from the flush of warmth washing over you is the fact that you feel Rex’s heart hammering against his chest almost as fast as your own.
“And what would you have me do, hm? Or would you like some more attention instead? All you have to do is ask,” you ponder, “Besides, it’s all good fun. Did you ever think that I might like being the one who’s chased? This little game isn’t as straightforward as you may think”.
He shakes his head with a small laugh and guides you through the entryway into the club. “Then I’ll leave you to your fun tonight. You’ll have to teach me the rules to your heart next time, mesh’la,” Rex’s voice darkens as he parts away from you with a lingering touch. The fleeting feeling of his calloused fingertips trailing along your side makes you dizzy.
Bodies twist and bend around each other to the DJ’s beat. Flashing lights twirl and surround you in a warm glow as you step down into the ever fluctuating crowd. The boys in blue start to holler and skirt past you to get a jumpstart on their night. Kix pauses by you, “If you need anything, just grab one of us, alright? Have some fun tonight, too”. Before you can even spare a smile, he disappears into the mass of bodies.
You push and shove your way through the wave of patrons swarming the entrance to try to make it to the bar. Sweaty bodies graze up against you trying to get to their next destination while the deafening bass pounds your chest with every beat. Glimpses of the illuminated shelves of drinks and mixers being tossed in the air can be seen in the small openings between passing bodies as you squeeze through the last line of people.
Your chest constricts as more people seem to push you from behind and others shuffle you sideways. Reaching out with one arm, you huff before pushing back against the wave of people around you. With everyone moving in different directions at once, you’re jostled in the thick of it. When you break free of the rushing crowd’s pull, you tumble forward from its hold and it into the welcoming arms of another.
“Thought you said you didn’t want me by your side tonight,” Fives’ warm breath tickles the shell of your ear. He pulls back with his signature smirk and leads you with a hand resting on the small of your back to a pair of open bar stools.
You shoot him a playful glare as you settle onto your seat, “Don’t put words in my mouth, love”. You rest your head on your fist and kick him gently underneath the bar. Once the pet name slips past your lips and registers in his mind, Fives’ breath hitches. “Afterall, you were the one who called me sour when I’m only ever sweet to you boys,” you wink at him before signaling over the service droid.
“Now hold on a minute,” Fives leans in on his forearm with a smile pulling at his lips, “You’re sweet to us? Who else is graced by your kindness and charm? Thought I was the only man for you, cy’are”. Tearing his playful gaze away from you, Fives orders for the two of you. In a moment, two vibrant mocktails are set between your seats.
“Wouldn’t the people’s man like to know,” you drawl out and take a sip of your drink. A refreshing mixture of juices and ice blend together in your mouth. “Now, back to the boys-- how do you think the night will end for them?” you ask and do a sweep of the club with your eyes.
Most of the boys have managed to find partners to join them on the dance floor. Jesse is tucked away in a secluded corner with his partner, Embrey. The two men have only just started seeing each other, but you also catch Jesse smiling at his data pad more often now. Hardcase is tangled with the wolfpack in one of the booths as they continue their usual boisterous recollections of the latest events. Rex joins Wolffe and Cody at the unofficial CO booth on the raised level as they keep a careful eye on their legions.
“Jesse won’t be coming back to the barracks with us. That civvie’s got him wrapped around his little finger,” Fives pulls himself closer to your side and slides an arm to rest on the back of your stool.
You hum in agreement, “I somehow think that’s not hard to accomplish with you boys. You’re all practically a pack of tooka kittens — from pulling at each other's ears to pushing each other to try to get someone’s attention”. You smile at him over the rim of your drink, and the look of utter betrayal on Fives’ face sends you into a flurry of laughter.
“Oh, don’t leave yourself out of that either,” Fives wags a finger at you, “Nearly bit my head off when you found out I didn’t get medcare after Teth only to keep me close when we were all playing sabacc. You’re just as bad as us when it comes to attention, and I would reckon that you’re even worse”.
As Fives points out your shared similarities, you can’t help but lean into him more. Nearly tangled together, to the point where anyone could rightfully question if the pair of you are just friends, you rest a hand on his chest. You play with the collar of his shirt with your fingertips. The rise and fall of his breath upticks beneath your palm, and you find comfort in the steady thrum of his heartbeat.
“What’s the matter, love?” You tilt your head, “Cat got your tongue?”
As you pull your gaze away from where your fingers fiddle with Fives’ collar, your heart drops when you realize his attention lays elsewhere. “Now what could be more captivating than our conversation,” you weakly laugh. Twisting your head, you immediately notice the handsome Nautolan man eying Fives from his table. His eyes shift from your friend and widen when he meets your gaze. Even as your breath freezes, lungs constrict, want to push Fives’ arm away -- you instead send the man a soft smile and nod your head.
Turning away with slightly slumped shoulders, you put on a brave face and pat Fives’ arm. “I’ll make sure to tell Echo you won’t be returning to the barracks tonight as well,” you say as you rise from the stool. With a swift swoop of your arm, you grab your drink and quickly finish it off.
“Cy’are, come on. Sit back down. I said I’d stay by your side tonight, which means I’m not going anywhere you aren’t,” Fives pleads. One hand grasps your forearm and weakly attempts to guide you back to the stool.
Even with his warm expression inviting you to rejoin him, his hand feels cold against your skin.
Even with the teasing tip of his smirk pulling you back to his side, his silence rings clear.
Even though Fives is the person you dream of waking up next to in bed each morning, Fives’ eyes wander everywhere except for the one person who stands by his side.
“Go have fun, Fives. I’m going to search for some of mine own,” you reassure him and slide his hand away. You shoot him a wink as you walk past him and blend into the wave of patrons.
Once again flooded with the overwhelming proximity of strangers, frustration flames through your blood. The sticky atmosphere chokes you as your heart pounds against its cage. The corners of your vision blur and darken while you move solely focused on the entrance. Stinging static drowns out the annoyed protests and looped music tracks from your hearing. The moment you break free from the club’s hold, you stride into the crisp night air that envelops you in a thick downpour of rain.
Not sparing a glance behind you, you continue to move as far away from the clone club. Yet with every step, something nips at the back of your neck. Not even an hour ago, you wanted to leave and return for a night in the barracks. Now you follow the near-empty streets as they twist and wind and lead you further away from your friends and into an awaiting pit of darkness. Finally able to blink away the rain just long enough to catch sight of a nearby storefront awning, you dart for cover and shiver against the cool durasteel building.
Heavy breaths wrack your body as you watch the trickles of rain plummet from the awning.
Maybe it was time to put a stop to your little game and come clean?
The occasional speeder joins the rushing soundscape that drowns out your comlink’s alert.
You heart wrenches at the thought of cutting off both men.
Faint shapes of bodies not even glancing at your hiding place come in and out of focus from the downpour.
Then again, neither seemed too interested in making the next move.
Until one shadow stops.
You shake your head to clear your mind from memories of their shared looks, and you push away your thoughts.
Its shape growing and defining itself against the curtain of rain that had shielded you.
Steadying your breath, you carefully stand. “Not another step,” you demand. In the moment the shadow pauses, you slip off your comlink and send an alert to the shared channel of the 501st. Hopefully, the darkness is your ally this time.
“Wouldn’t you want some company?,” a husky voice calls out, “This isn’t the type of place to be wandering around by yourself — especially in this weather.”
They take a step closer.
A faint alert chirps from your comlink.
“My friends are on their way,” you coolly reply as thunderous footsteps and shouts roar against the brewing storm.
The shadow’s head tilts, but not in contemplation.
“That’s what we were hoping for,” the shadow snarls.
Shivers shudder down your spine in realization.
Just as you launch yourself from your spot, blaster bolts strike through the night sky like lightning. No longer concerned about the shadow who slipped into the darkness, you run towards the echoign command. Clenching your fists, you slam your feet against the rain soaked platform.
“Fives,” you shout.
Blaster bolts illuminate the walkway and reveal silhouettes struggling against one another.
“You picked the wrong person to go after, ge’hutuun,” one of your boys grunts.
Rain droplets pelt down on you and leave stinging splotches on your skin.
Bringing your comlink up to your mouth, you grit your teeth against the howling wind. “This is 501st support agent to base, do you copy? We need back up. This is an emergency, do you copy,” you try to speak clearly against the growing panic bubbling inside you.
A single scream silences the street’s symphony.
“Fives,” someone calls out.
“Fives?” you breathe out.
It feels like the rain weighs down on you and locks you in place. Each footstep harder to take than the last. As the 501st comes into view, tears blur your vision as you hastily look each man over.
Rex and Jesse stand just off to the side, speaking to a holograph of Commander Fox with apprehensive expressions. Hardcase, Dogma, and Tup surround the dazed assailants while pacing every few steps before returning.
Echo and Kix kneel on the ground beside a body just ahead of you.
“Fives?” you croak.
Echo raises his head and motions you over to join them. His serious gaze pulls you from your cemented spot and into a run.
Skidding to a stop, you sink to your knees next to Fives’ head. Your eyes flicker from his pained expression to his heaving chest to the blaster graze just above his hip. The outfit he was so excited to wear out for the first time now smolders around blistering skin.
“This wasn’t the show I was hoping to put on for you, cy’are,” Fives hoarsely laughs.
A watery chuckle breaks your chapped lips, “Well, you’re quite the showstopper. You can put on an actual show for me another time. But, please stop getting shot, it stresses me out”.
Fives lets out a booming laugh that’s quickly cut off by a groan, “Oh, well if you don’t like it, I’ll just have to ask the Sith to stop the war for me. Sure they’ll be real understanding -”. His sentence cuts off when he sucks in a sharp breath.
You look over to Kix who has a less than amused expression at the two of you. One hand barely applying pressure to Fives’ wound.
“Calm down, you’re not going to die,” Kix rolls his eyes and slightly shoves Fives’s side, “You have second degree burns, di’kut. Just need some bacta patches, and you’ll be fine with minor scarring”.
“That should have been a direct hit though,” you murmur, looking at the wound. You face Fives once again, yet this time he won’t meet your eyes. Resting your hand on his jaw, you make him meet your pointed gaze. A slow warmth grows underneath your touch.
“His clothing is made up of an experimental light-weight, ballistic material. It’s a prototype for casual bulletproof clothing,” Kix explains and pulls  your attention back to him. He tugs at the singed edge of Fives’ shirt. The cloth barely moves from the strain. “Did -- did he not tell you why we came out tonight?” Kix asks you with an incredulous laugh.
“He actually went through with his dumb plan. Kriffsake, this should be good,” Echo snickers and shuffles away from you.
“It’s bulletproof?” you shriek at him.
Fives quickly throws his hands up and scoots away from you to push himself up into a crouching position. “Not completely! That’s why we had to test it out,” he defends.
His words still you. Narrowing your eyes, you watch as Fives pales under your sharp gaze. “Test it?” your voice comes out a low growl.
Fives sends a weak glare over your shoulder, “Who’s side are you on, traitor?”
Echo and Kix burst into laughter, barely spitting out coherent words. “The side of reason, di’kut,” they reply in unison.
“You were the one who volunteered to be the mark,” Kix notes.
“‘Just you watch, I’ll put an end to this little game of ours tonight,’” Echo say in a poor imitation of his twin, “‘By the end of the night, I will confess my undying love for my cy’are”.
“I did not say that,” Fives barks back.
“I am so grateful that shot didn’t kill you,” you confess while you drop your head in relief. You try to conceal the snickers that threaten to slip past your lips.
Out of the corner of your eye, you see Fives perk up. “Does that mean I can take you out on a date?” He asks.
“No,” you say. When his posture slumps once more, you slowly raise your head and meet his disappointed gaze. “No, I’d like to take you out myself,” your voice drips with false sweetness.
“Well, who am I to say no to a lovely date with my cy’are,” Fives leans closer to you with a small smile spreading across his face.
“I’m so grateful that bulletproof material kept you alive just long enough for me to take you out myself,” your voice growls in playful anger.
Fives’ eyes widen, and he pushes off the ground and sprints away from you. “Cy’are, I’m sorry,” he laughs and shouts over his shoulder.
“Too late. Get back here, di’kut,” you yell and launch after him.
Footsteps slosh and slap against the platform while both your laughter mixes with the comforting hum of the evening. As you near Fives, your gazes meet as he turns to check on you with an adoring expression. Reaching out with one hand, your face lights up when he turns completely to face you. Arms open waiting for you to join him by his side once more.
Throwing your arms around his neck, you press yourself close to him. His hands rest comfortably on your hips, and Fives ducks his head in the crook of your neck. The gentle scratches as you play with the edge of hair bring small hums from his mouth that softly tickle your skin.
“I’m still going to murder you,” you mumble into his shoulder.
Fives hums, and his hold tightens around you. “Just wait until after the date. I’m looking forward to it, and it would be my life’s regret if I never actually had the honor to spend the night by your side”.
The soft glow from flickering neon signs wraps around your bodies as the rainstorm eases to a gentle lull. Neither of you pay attention as the Coruscant Guard passes. Some send Fives a celebratory salute while others clap your shoulder with a chuckle. As the night life fades to distant hum, Fives straightens himself and pulls you under his arm to lead you back to the group. Soft smiles and shouts of relief greet the two of you, now that the game has come to an end.
At least for tonight.
One pair of eyes linger on you for a moment longer than they should have. “Rex, we’re good to head out now. Gave Fox the report and analysis already,” Jesse states.
Rex pulls his gaze from where you stand tucked comfortably in his vod’s hold, and he nods at Jesse. “Then I think it’s time we head back to the barracks and get some rest. I’m sure we’ll find ourselves absorbed in another game by the time we deploy again,” Rex shakes his head with a small laugh.
Jesse looks at him with an impressed, yet shocked, expression. “Don’t tell me you’ve been keeping out on us and have your eye on someone,” he says with a light elbow jab to Rex’s side.
With a knowing look in his eye, Rex motions for Jesse to make his way over to the awaiting transport. Once everyone from the 501st and guard are accounted for, Rex allows himself to relax against the wall. Letting his head fall to one side, he steals one more glance and smiles at the sight of you dozing off on his brother’s shoulder. Rex raises his gaze and meets Fives’ eyes, and they subtly nod at each other.
The night may be over, but the game is still in play.

Sooo... I'm thinking of writing a fic about Rex obtaining a set of traumatized twins (Fives and Echo) and having to learn how to parent them (similar to Buir Basics, which gave me severe brainrot, one of my favorite fics, I love it). Would people be at all interested in that?

Thinking abt an au where Rex and the 501st adopts Boba instead of letting him go to jail… I feel like Rex has a lot of the mando genes urging him to adopt feral children
Fives would tease boba and say that he’s like a little angry tooka
Tup would be happy to not be the youngest anymore and would be really sweet to him
Hardcase and fives would both help him cause chaos
Echo would try to teach him some of the regs but end up letting him do whatever because he has cute little tooka eyes that works very well
Rex would treat him sort of how he treats the domino twins, but would probably be more openly affectionate and would make sure that he’s never on the field (he totally doesn’t steal boba from the barracks and lets him sleep in Rex’s quarters and holds him like a pillow… it’s okay Boba likes it, he missed having a dad)
boba would try to sneak out on campaigns, but the 501st all collectively agreed that clone or not Boba was their baby brother and he is not going to an actual battlefield
they also have a teensy bet on who boba actually listens to the most (it’s echo but Fives refuses to accept it)
Anakin, to Rex’s dismay, would teach him how to be a pilot
Ahsoka would help with any chaos
The 212th would try to get him transferred to them because they want a baby brother too but Cody would just say “we already have a baby brother (Wooley) and they’d probably kill us if we took Boba”
Plo Koon would start trying to get the Wolfpack placed in more campaigns with the 501st and Wolffe also starts helping with a bit of chaos (both Wolffe and Boba are biters and you can’t convince me otherwise)
A lot of them would ask what Jango was like and Rex would storm up and cuff them on the back of the head because “wtf this kid is still grieving give him a god damned minute”
And yes they put him in the center of the clone piles when Rex doesn’t steal him (Rex will join usually anyway)
But the bad thing abt this would be when one clone doesn’t come back… after the citadel Boba would’ve been devastated to hear about Echo. After Umbara he would’ve been crying himself to sleep from all the deaths. When Ahsoka left he would’ve clung to Rex or one of his brothers because what if they leave too?
Boba is a hurt child and needs his brothers to fully heal, but when he’s with his brothers he can still get hurt

True Love
Summary: Fives is a man on a mission. His mission? Remind his riduur that she’s the only one for him.
Pairing: ARC Trooper Fives x F!Reader
Word Count: 828
Warnings: None
Tagging: @trixie2023 @n0vqni @imabeautifulbutterfly
A/N: So, full disclosure, this was supposed to be the event request for @l0nesome-dreams but I only read the first part of the request and went, yes, ideas, and only realized I went off the rails when I finished writing it, lol. SO. That will be properly written at a later point in time. So, uh, have a random Fives story?
Tumblr media
The worst part of having a secret wife, is the fact that he can’t be as blunt to the people flirting with him as he’d prefer. The second worst thing is the fact that his brothers think that he’s lonely and needs help getting dates.
That leads him to this situation. Where an, admittedly pretty, woman is leaning into his personal space, and his mind is racing for what to say that won’t be too insulting, but also won’t out the fact that he’s a happily married man.
She leans further into his personal space, and Fives takes a half step back, keeping some distance between them. He glances at his chrono and his heart sinks. He’s late.
His poor riduur is probably wondering where he is.
The woman leans closer to him, and Fives moves quickly to keep her from touching him, “Aww…you’re shy.”
“Look, I’m flattered, but I’m really not interested.” He says.
“Your brothers said that you would say that.” She smiles at him, it’s a pretty smile, but Fives really isn’t interested in her. “I can go as slow as you like.”
“Again,” Fives says slowly, “I’m flattered, but not interested.” He glances at the chrono one more time, maybe, if he’s quick, he can stop at the bakery that his riduur likes so much and get her a lemon bar.
The woman huffs, “Do you have somewhere to be?”
Fives grabs the chance with both hands, “Yes. Actually. And I’m late. If you’ll excuse me.” He almost makes it to the entrance of the Club before Rex flings his arm over his shoulder, “Son of a kriffing-”
“Where are you going, Fives?” Rex asks.
“Cap, Rex, I’m late. I have to go.”
“Oh? Have a hot date?”
Fives doesn’t answer, and he averts his gaze from his brothers, it’s a damned shame he isn’t a better liar, “I just have to pick something up before the store closes.”
“We went through all of this trouble to help you find a date, vod-”
“I’m not interested.” Fives blurts, “Not in her. Not in anyone you’ll ever pick for me. Rex, I have to go. I’m late.”
Rex presses his hand against Fives’ chest plate, “Late for what?”
Fives flounders, and then he sighs, “I was supposed to meet my wife half an hour ago, and if I leave now I can bring her a lemon bar from her favorite bakery to make up for being late. Can I go?”
“You’re married!?”
“REX!”
“Yes! Go.”
Fives pushes past his brother and out of the club.
He’s lucky, the bakery is still open when he arrives, and he’s able to get a whole box of the lemon bars his riduur prefers, before he runs home. He takes the stairs two at a time and impatiently keys in the door code before he stops in the front hallway.
Home smells like her. Like vanilla and flowers and everything good and nice in the galaxy that he never thought that he’d have. Home also smells like stew and fresh baked bread.
Fives quickly pulls his armor off, with one hand, and he heads into the kitchen. His riduur, his perfect beautiful Riduur, is still making dinner.
Thank the Force.
“I’m home,”
She turns and a bright smile crosses her face when she sees him, “Fives, welcome home.” She lays her spoon over the pot and turns to greet him with a hug, “You stopped at the bakery?”
“I know that I’m late-” Fives replies as he sets the box on the table, “So I stopped and got your favorite dessert.”
She giggles and presses a hand to her mouth, “I got a late start too, honestly. I’m sorry dinner isn’t ready.”
“Don’t be. I don’t mind.” He settles his hands on her hips and leans in to lightly press his forehead against hers, “Rex and the others dragged me to 79s.” He admits, “They think, thought, that I was lonely.”
“Oh?”
“They set me up on a blind date,” Fives adds.
A glimmer of uncertainty crosses her face, “Was she pretty?”
“I suppose. I wasn’t paying attention.” He brings one hand up to brush her cheek, “I was thinking about you.”
She ducks her head, a blush crossing her face, “You’re a sap.”
“True.” Fives kisses her gently, “I had to tell Rex about you before he’d let me leave.”
“Oh, Fives-”
“It’s okay. I doubt I’ll get into much trouble.” He kisses her one more time, “Don’t you worry about it. You won’t get into trouble, I promise.”
“I’m worried about you.”
“I know. Don’t worry, Rex is reasonable.” He kisses her again and again, “Now, how much still needs to be done for dinner, and how can I help?”
“Um…a lot. How about you go shower and change, and you can help after?”
“Deal.” He catches her lips in one more kiss, “Love you, riduur.”
She sighs, a dreamlike smile on her face, “Love you more.”

Suckers
Fives & Echo
Tumblr media
Summary: Hilarity ensues when Fives spots a lollipop in the shape of a clone.
Pairing: None
Characters: Fives, Echo, Rex, Fox
Tags & Warnings: humor, crude humor, sexual humor, sexual innuendos, art comic at the end
Word Count: 337
Author's Note: I blame cursed clone wars merchandise on eBay, late-night Discord chats, and @kimiheartblade for this abomination 😂 It's pretty much just dialogue. I don't even know if I want to call this a fic, considering how thrown together it is. But sometimes you just have to write funny stuff. As always, please enjoy 💚
Tumblr media
"Hey, Echo, look at this!" Fives yells. He grabs Echo's arm and pulls him towards the candy storefront.
"What?" Echo huffs, then yanks his arm back.
"It's us!" Fives exclaims.
Echo raises an eyebrow. "Huh?"
"They made us into suckers!" Fives smiles. He points to the clone-shaped lollipops nestled in a stand next to the candy store window.
"And you're excited about that, why?" Echo asks.
"We're famous!" Fives grins.
"Right," Echo rolls his eyes, "because minors and middle-aged single women sucking on us is peak fame."
"Aw, come on, Echo," Fives says. "It's a novelty!"
Echo crosses his arms. "It's disgusting."
"I'm gonna buy one," Fives says, then walks towards the door.
"Wait!" Echo yells, trying to stop him, but he can't.
Fives buys the lollipop and returns to Echo, who is waiting for him outside the shop.
Echo sighs. "Happy now?"
Fives smiles and then shoves the lollipop in Echo's face. "Here, have a lick."
Echo cringes away. "Ew, no way!"
"It's just a lollipop," Fives says.
"I don't care," Echo huffs.
"But don't you want to know what flavor they made you?" Fives asks.
"No!" Echo says. "I don't have a flavor."
"But it looks like you," Fives says.
"I'm not sucking on something that looks like me," Echo says.
"Then it looks like me," Fives says.
"I'm not sucking on something that looks like you either!" Echo exclaims.
"It's kriffing sugar!" Fives retorts.

Rex taps his foot against the pavement, his arms crossed, while staring at his two arc troopers who are currently sitting handcuffed on the edge of the curb.
"Does someone want to tell me why the Coruscant Guard got called out here?" Rex asks.
Fives and Echo look away from each other in embarrassment.
Fox clears his throat. "Several passersby complained of two men in an altercation with one of them repeatedly yelling, 'suck on it'."
Rex takes a deep breath and pinches the bridge of his nose.
"We can expl–"
"Don't," Rex interjects with a wave of his hand. "I don't want to know."

I'm gonna share a summary of a Fives fic that I don't think I'll ever have time to write, so just wanted to chat about it because it warms my damn heart. Okay, so: a reporter is assigned to the 501st because they wanted to humanize clones to make society more invested in the war effort and the soldiers fighting for them. No one but the reporter themselves is excited. Rex dumps her with, you guessed it, Echo and Fives to chaperone around (is it because they pissed him off? Yes).
Queue introductions: Fives responds to Rex's order by mimicking a damn droid a la "order not understood; no applicable data available" resulting in a long, shocked pause by the reporter before Echo slaps his brother and apologizes for his "humor".
More shenanigans follow, gradually evolving from taunting to teasing to playing to a moment of dangerous self-sacrifice revealing suppressed *feelings*. The actual reporting ends up really helping the war effort, but, eventually, the romance gets found out, the reporter gets transferred to a different unit, and there is much angst.
Finally, the reporter actually gets kidnapped, and Fives goes a little awol (Rex covers for him, of course) to rescue them. And then Palpatine trips on a banana peel and everything's wonderful.
I'm sharing this with full permission for someone else to take it on and play with the premise, because it's so fucking cute, but I just don't have time to write it... that's all

Prompt: Cuddle Ship: Fox/Fives Rated: G .
Fox doesn’t cuddle, especially with overly cocky, bratty ARC Troopers with obnoxiously charming smiles.
“They let you get away with this in the five hundred and first?” He sneers as his face is pressed into Fives’s bare chest, and he admits that maybe it’s kind of nice to feel this sort of intimate contact outside of needy, desperate sex.
“And more,” Fives chuckles as he cards his fingers through the guard’s hair, slick with sweat from previous activities.
“Disgusting,” Fox replies with a soft sigh, and decides maybe it’s not so bad to cuddle after all.

The Red Dress
Summary: They may have your attention, but it's his fingers inside you under the table.
Pairing: Fives x reader
Warnings: NSFW, 18+, fingering, public sex, exhibitionism, drinking, alcohol, Fives being cocky, confession of feelings, just a little jealousy
A/N: I've never written for Fives before so please bear with me. Welcoming myself back from my break with a bang, pun intended. I am also utilizing medic!reader once more just because I can.
MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
The first time he sees you in that dress, he knows he’s screwed.
He has Kix to thank for everything. He had been the one to convince you to come out with them in the first place. You, the 501st’s new medic, who had quickly won the hearts of the entire legion with your gentle touches and soft reassurances. You who asked their names and remembered them. You with that infectious smile, and the soft laugh that rang out at even the lamest jokes.
They had all mutually agreed they would start a war for you.
Fives was no less enamored with you than his brothers. You laughed at his jokes, and got shy when he lightly teased and flirted. He had once asked you to kiss his freshly bandaged wound, entirely joking, but he’ll never forget how you raised his arm to press a soft kiss to the bandage.
His stomach still flips thinking about it.
He hadn’t been expecting you to join them on shore leave. They were headed to 79s as usual, waiting on a few stragglers, including Kix. He hadn’t been expecting you to be following the medic down the ramp, but as soon as he sees you, he forgets all his impatience.
His eyes widen, jaw going slack as you slowly make your way down the ramp. The others notice, turning to see just what’s caught his attention.
The dress is a little satin number that hugs every curve and slope of your body perfectly. The thin straps and sloping neckline reveal more skin than he’s ever seen before, the hem falling halfway down your thighs.
It’s also red.
A deep, sinful red that Fives already knows is going to draw the gaze of everyone in the bar. His hands tighten into fists, his pants tightening just a bit as well.
“I didn’t think you’d mind if I invited our favorite medic along.” Kix says, drawing his attention, and everyone else’s.
“No.” Hardcase says, the vision of you in the dress having silenced even him. “Not at all.”
Fives resists the urge to punch Hardcase as he slips an arm around your shoulders, guiding you to the transport.
This is going to be a long night.
***
Fives had been right in his prediction that you would gain the attention of the entire bar. He was quick to notice just how much you shied from the attention, but he knew he and his brothers were not going to share.
They squish you into the center of the booth, silently glaring away any trooper, shiny or not, that even glances your way. You seem happily unaware of it as you sit between Jesse and Tup. They’re laying it on thick, Jesse’s arm stretched across the back of the booth behind you.
Fives’ hand tightens around his glass as Jesse leans in, saying something quietly to you. You get that bashful look on your face again, fingers trailing through the condensation on your glass. You’ve barely finished one glass of the cheap beer the bar provided to the clones.
Fives gets his moment when Tup excuses himself from the table for a bathroom break and Jesse is sent to the bar for the next round. He quickly shuffles into the booth next to you, so close you’re almost touching. You turn to look at him, eyes shining in the dim light above the table.
“You alright?” He asks, leaning in a bit so you can hear him over the music. “Are they making you uncomfortable?”
You shake your head. “No, they’re sweet, I’ve just...had my gaze on someone else for a while.”
He tilts his head as he stares down at you. “Anyone I know?”
“Well, he’s a clone.” You say, giving him a cute little smile.
“Right. That narrows it down.” Fives nods.
“He’s an ARC trooper.” You continue.
“Narrows it down more.” Fives says, leaning his arm on the table so he can lean in closer.
“He’s funny and smart and one of the bravest men I’ve ever met.” You stare up into his eyes, searching for something. “He has the sweetest brown eyes, and a cute little wrinkle between his brows when he frowns.” Your gaze drops to his lips. “He has a goatee, and a tattoo, and quite the unique nickname.”
Fives smirks, slipping his arm across the back of the booth behind you. His fingers trail along the bare skin of your shoulders, just as soft as he imagined. He leans in closer, watching the goosebumps form on your skin as he leans into your ear. You smell good, the best thing he’s ever smelled. His nose presses into your hair, smelling your sweet scent as his lips brush your ear.
“I need to hear you say it.” He whispers, fingers tracing patterns across the back of your neck and shoulders.
You turn your head just slightly, hand dropping to his thigh. “You.” You say it just audible above the thump of the music playing. “It’s you.”
Fives smirks, pulling back a bit as Jesse returns to the table. Despite the goosebumps on your skin, it’s warm to the touch, Fives brushing your cheek gently as he pulls his arm away. He’s pressed right up against you, his hand slipping under the table to rest against your knee.
“Tell me to stop.” He says quietly, Jesse taking his spot next to you once more.
You give him a look that speaks a thousand words, a look he didn’t think you were capable of. He’s glad the table hides everything as his pants suddenly get very tight. You turn your attention to Jesse as he starts speaking to you, Fives getting a refill on his glass and yours as Rex passes around the new pitcher.
His hand slowly begins to slip higher up your leg, fingers tracing the soft skin. Your legs widen just slightly for his hand, speaking volumes as you continue to entertain Jesse’s story.
He bites back a groan as he finds the damp fabric between your legs. It’s a bit much to call them underwear, a lacy little number he wants to slip into a pocket later. He rubs you over your panties, your hips shifting just slightly. You disguise it as you reach for your glass, taking another sip of beer.
He watches the way your hand tightens just slightly around the glass as he pushes the fabric to the side, trailing his fingers along your pussy. He joins in on the conversation as he sinks a finger into your tight heat, your hips shifting just slightly again to give him room.
You’re good at hiding it, moving subtly with the conversation as he and Jesse go back and forth. If Jesse looked down, it wouldn’t be hard to figure out where his hand is, but thankfully he’s just a little too drunk to be aware of his surroundings.
You clench tightly around his finger as the rest of the table joins into the conversation, recounting a story of some mission they’d gone on months ago, before you’d joined them. He can see your skin starting to get dewy with sweat, your breath picking up just slightly. You’re soaking his hand, a second finger slipping in easily.
He watches the column of your throat as you swallow another mouthful of beer, halfway through the glass already. Maker, he wishes he could remove his codpiece, pull you into his lap and make you sit on his cock. What he wouldn’t give to ease you under the table, have those sinful lips wrapped around him. Kriff, he’s one squeeze away from laying you out on the table and fucking you in front of his brothers and the entire bar.
He curls his fingers inside you, your lips parting as you squeeze around him, your legs shaking under the table. You set your glass back on the table just a little too hard, gaining the attention of the others.
“You alright, mesh’la?” Hardcase frowns at you in concern.
You nod, swallowing thickly. “Yeah.” Your voice is breathy, a bead of sweat sliding down the side of your face. “Just starting to feel it a bit.”
“I didn’t peg you as a lightweight.” Tup says, having returned to the table at some point.
You shrug, playing off the way your thighs squeeze around his hand. “Never really been much of a drinker before.”
“Well, we’re just out here corrupting you, aren’t we?” Kix smirks, his voice deep from the alcohol.
You’re close, your thighs squeezing around his hand as you press your hips against him. “That’s one way of putting it.” You laugh breathlessly.
Fives curls his fingers again, your face leaning in close to his ear. You let out a quiet little whimper that nearly has him cumming in his pants. Your breath fans against his skin, his hand slipping from your underwear. Oh how he’d love to taste you on his skin.
“Fresher.” You breathe, already sliding away from him. “Two minutes.”
He watches you slip out of the booth, a smirk tugging at his lips as he watches the others eyes follow your form until you disappear into the crowd.

{How Fives Falls Asleep & What That Says About Him}
Tumblr media
Program: Just how he falls asleep when he's deployed and when he has the luxury of being at home in your arms. Where feels safe and loved.
Pairing: Fives x GN! Reader
Genre: Fluff
Counselor Notes: Just been thinking about the boys and how they would fall asleep during the ongoing war or at home with us. I also wanted to practice character analysis a bit and see how a person's sleep routine or attitude towards their sleeping environment would connect to who they are as a person. Might be a stretch, but it was fun to think about. Each of the boys will have one of these :) I have almost all of them written out.
Camp Resolute Masterlist
Tumblr media
This man cannot fall asleep peacefully for the life of him especially if if the room is too quiet
He tosses and turns, and flips and flops
He kicks off the blankets only to pull them close
Fives has gotten used to being woken up by a pillow being thrown at him in the barracks, because he somehow manages to get it across the room in his sleep
The first thing he saved up for with his military pay was a WAVComm to listen to music at night and fall asleep to
Has a couple of different playlists he shuffles through to drown his brothers' mumbles and snores, but his favorite is the LoFi jazz DJ from outer system- it's the only peace he can find when they're stationed that far away
The first couple of times he stays at your place, Fives doesn't hide the fact that he has tears in his eyes from how comfortable and homey he feels especially with how soft your bed is
The morning lead to confusion though
Fives wakes up with your arms holding him close to your chest, and he has to wonder how he ended up the little spoon
Definitely not upset by it- just a little confused
Could have sworn you were laying on his chest when the two of you drifted off to sleep
Now though, he adores the feeling of waking up in your embrace
His favorite part of the morning is when you press small kiss across his shoulders and one gently at the nape of his neck
Feeling your hands lazily trace patterns and shapes or little messages and confessions makes his heart melt
The moment he turns over and is greeted by your sleepy self, Fives swears the room brightens with a warm glow
He pulls you into his chest and breathes in your scent with a smile on his face
Fives will absolutely pull the covers up over the pair of you just make you giggle and to steal a few morning kisses
-> Fives is usually taking care of others. Civilians, his twins, his brothers- just about anyone he comes into contact with, because he wants them to know that there is someone out there in the galaxy who cares for them during this devastating war. -> When he has the few opportunities to bask in your love and care, Fives will selfishly (at least that's how he sees it) take it all. He wants to be taken care of rather than the opposite for a moment of sacred peace of mind. ->As much as he loves his strength and how other rely on him, Fives wants to experience a love where he is seen as someone deserving of tender love, gentle caresses, and thoughtful care.

Happy Father’s Day!
Okay, okay, considering what my fic is about I felt obliged to post something today :)
Here is the prologue. It’s just Rex finding out he’s a dad (he’s gonna be happy about it I promise, he’s just a little overwhelmed). Also, sorry, no baby domino twins yet, we’ll get there soon (Next Sunday).
Next chapter: 01
Rated: Teen
CW: Implied child abuse
Rex turned restlessly in his sleep, his forehead dotted with sweat despite the chill of the December night air. The room was silent but for his quiet breaths, dark but for the soft red glow from the digits on his alarm clock. It was not set to go off for another two hours.
Rex shifted again, rolling onto his back and throwing off the covers, a small, uncomfortable groan escaping from his parted lips. Then, his breathing hitched and stopped completely, his chest failing to rise. His face paled, shining against the dark sheets in the dim light.
Nothing moved.
Not the flutter of a curtain or the twitch of a muscle.
Everything was still.
Then, in an almost imperceptible movement, Rex’s eyes cracked open. Not quickly, the way one does when pulled from the depths of a nightmare, but slowly, as if from a dream one cannot quite place, a dream that is forgotten as soon as it is over.
The stillness was now broken, and the silence soon followed as he gulped down ragged breaths to refill his depleted lungs. He did not sit, not yet; he lay, content to breathe and stare at the ceiling above him.
It was Tuesday. Before dawn. Yesterday he had closed one of his biggest cases. Today he would be writing up his reports. A thought like this normally bothered him. He would itch to get back into the field, to be assigned a new case, not to sit at a computer painstakingly entering information into charts, but today he felt this desire eclipsed by another. Perhaps from the dream or something else, he did not know.
Rex pulled in next to the only other car parked outside the 501st district police station. He did not need to look to know it was Cody’s. His brother always seemed to be in the office and for once, Rex was grateful towards Cody’s insomniac tendencies. He could use the company.
Rex cut the ignition and sunk back into his seat, closing his eyes. He had felt off ever since he woke up. There was a strange feeling in his chest he could only describe as anticipation: a mixture of excitement and dread, nervousness and hope. The feeling was not new to him, but the way it sprouted seemingly out of nowhere was.
He sighed, opening his eyes, and running a hand through his short blonde curls. He had thought the hot shower and quiet 5 am drive down to the station would have soothed the feeling away, but clearly he had been wrong. Rex took a few more minutes to collect himself before he stepped out of his car and made his way into the station.
Cody was sitting behind a large oak desk, hunched over a thick stack of papers lying on top of an opened manilla folder. When Rex moved into the doorway of his office, he looked up, eyes going wide before darting over to the clock above the door, then narrowing in on Rex.
“Rex?”
“Cody.”
“You’re here early.”
Rex nodded, dropping heavily into the chair in front of his brother’s desk.
Cody glanced down at his papers, hesitating, before pushing them aside and leaning his forearms on the desk, “What’s going on?”
“Nothing,” Rex fidgeted, suddenly embarrassed. He didn’t even know how to explain his feeling to himself, how could he explain it to his brother?
Cody cocked an eyebrow, waiting for Rex to elaborate. When he didn’t Cody leaned back in his chair, “You look tired. There’s a cot in the closet, I could—”
“No,” Rex cut him off, standing abruptly. “I just… I just need to work. To focus on work.”
Cody hummed knowingly, sliding the folder back in front of him as Rex made his way out.
Work that morning was slow and by lunch the past six hours of typing up reports felt more like six days. Rex dragged himself into the kitchen to make a second cup of coffee and maybe grab something to eat from the vending machine since he forgot to pick something up on his way in.
As he was flattening a crumpled dollar bill to fit it into the vending machine, he heard rustling behind him. Rex turned around and saw Wolffe holding out a brown paper bag.
“Apparently I’m Cody’s delivery boy now,” Wolffe said, nodding to the bag, “It’s a Reuben.”
Rex took the bag and mumbled an apology before ducking his head and reaching for his wallet in his back pocket for more money.
“Don’t worry about it, it’s covered,” Wolffe said rolling his eyes—well, his eye—and hitching his thumb towards Cody’s office. Before stalking out of the kitchen, Wolffe leaned in and smirked, “You look like shit, man.”
Rex grimaced and sat down with the sandwich. It was good, he had to admit, but hard to enjoy. His mind kept wandering to the feeling of anticipation coursing through his veins that had only been growing as the day wore on. He had been doing so well recently. He had wrapped up a major gang related violence case and gotten a promotion, been best man at Bly’s wedding, and had just agreed with his therapist that he no longer needed weekly counseling sessions.
His heart felt like it skipped a beat, and Rex took in a short sharp breath, then shook his head, chuckling; maybe Kenobi had been wrong in his assessment of his wellbeing. He sighed, dumped his half-eaten sandwich in the trash, and made his way back to his desk.
Rex was in the middle of a meeting when he felt his phone buzz in his pocket. All eyes turned to him, and he quickly reached into his jeans and switched it to silent mode without checking the number.
Cody paused, crossing his arms in front of his chest before continuing to brief him and the rest of the 501st on… whatever it was he was briefing them on. Rex was too focused on counting his breaths and trying to suppress the awful feeling that kept washing over him. It only became worse with every passing minute. He felt his eyes glossing over and he diverted his gaze to the floor, vaguely aware of his hands fidgeting in his lap.
“Rex?”
Rex’s head snapped to attention, eyes focusing in on Cody’s creased brow as his older brother knelt down in front of him. Rex shifted in the chair looking anywhere around the now empty room except at Cody.
“C’mon, old boy,” Cody said trying to catch his eye, “What happened?”
Rex shrugged; he honestly did not have an answer for that.
“Do you…” Cody trailed off, eyes darting back and forth, “Do you want to come over for dinner?”
Rex began to shake his head to refuse the offer but stopped when he met Cody’s pleading eyes. His brother was just as worried as he was. About what, he had no clue, but it would be better to have something to distract himself with, even if that something was Cody grumbling at the TV about which play they should have made during the football game.
“Okay.”
Cody smiled and straightened up, “Alright, give me five and we’re out of here.”
As Cody left the meeting room Rex dug his phone out of his pocket and scoffed as his screen showed the time to be 4:55 pm. Of course Cody would make sure they left no earlier than 5. The scoff died in his throat as he caught sight of two new notifications.
A missed call and a voicemail.
Both from the same number.
The caller ID was labeled “KCPS.”
Rex blinked. His face went pale, and he clutched his chair like at any moment the gravity in the room might reverse.
He was done with the system. He had been done with the system when Cody, one year his senior, had aged out and assumed responsibility for him seven years ago. They couldn’t make him go back. They couldn’t—
Rex shook his head, trying to steady his labored breathing. They couldn’t make him go back because he was a 24-year-old man. He was no longer a child. He no longer depended on the system.
His breathing evened out and slowed. He clicked open his phone. If CPS wasn’t calling to collect him, then what were they calling for? He hit play on the new voicemail and held the phone up to his ear.
Hello. This is Taun We from Kamino Child Protective Services. We are trying to reach Rex Fett. If you are Rex Fett, please call this number back immediately. Our number is…
Rex dropped the phone from his ear and redialed the number. His heart was pounding in his chest. As the first tone rang Cody appeared in the closed glass doorway. Rex held up a finger and turned so the phone would be visible to his brother. Cody gave him a thumbs up and a quick smile just as the call connected.
“Hello?” Rex started, his pulse beginning to beat in his temples.
Hello, this is Taun We from Kamino Child Protective Services. How may I help you?
“I, uh, received a call earlier today asking for me to call you back,” Rex said before hastily adding, “This is Rex. Rex Fett.”
Yes, of course. Mr. Fett.
The woman on the other end of the line paused for a moment to shuffle around papers. After a few seconds she found what she was looking for and continued.
Your children Echo and Fives Se have been removed from the custody of their mother Nala Se. Because you are their biological father, they will now be placed in your care. Are you currently residing in the country?
“Yes,” Rex froze, unable to do anything other than answer her question.
And you are currently employed as a police officer of the 501st district?
“Yes.”
Are you physically and mentally fit to care for a child?
“Yes.”
Rex couldn’t breathe.
We will be waiting for you at the Kamino CPS office at 32 and Broad Street where you will be able to collect your children. At what time do you expect to arrive?
Rex opened his mouth, but no sound came out. He looked to Cody for help.
Cody’s mouth was set in a tight line, brows pushed together, concern written across his features. As soon as he saw Rex’s eyes meet his, he pushed his way through the door.
What? Cody mouthed, stopping an arm’s length away from Rex and eyeing his phone.
All Rex could do was shake his head, eyes wide and teary.
A woman’s voice crackled to life from the phone. Excuse me, Mr. Fett? Are you still there? What time will you be arriving?
Now that Cody was in the room, he could hear the woman on the other side of the phone clearly. He extended his hand towards Rex’s phone, seeking approval from his eyes before taking it gently from the death grip Rex was holding it in.
Cody held the phone to his ear and put a hand on Rex’s shoulder, gently squeezing, “Good afternoon, this is Cody Fett. Rex’s brother. He had to… step out for a moment. Where are we to be arriving to?”
Please report to the Kamino CPS office at 32 and Front Street. Mr. Fett will be able to collect his children there. Will you be arriving this evening?
Rex was just starting to be able to sort through his thoughts as he felt Cody’s warm hand suddenly tense up on his shoulder. Rex looked up at his brother, whose tan face was quickly draining of color. His brother felt his gaze and looked down at him, flashing a quick, sad smile before responding to the CPS worker.
“We can be there in 45 minutes,” Cody looked over to Rex for confirmation and received a small nod. “Thank you. Have a nice night.”
Cody hung up the phone before the woman had a chance to respond, turned to his brother, and wrapped his arms tightly around him.
After a minute Cody pulled back to look at Rex. Rex’s tears had remained unshed, and he quickly blinked them back, “Cody, I—”
Cody held up his hands, “I know, Rex. I know. It’s alright.” Then, only after seeing Rex relax a little, “Let’s go bring them home, okay?”
Rex nodded, “Okay.”

Pairing: ARC Trooper Fives x GN!Reader

Warnings: None
A/N: Alright, so I wrote this with a f!reader in mind, but I don't think I actually used any gender-defining language for the reader. Anyway! Thanks for the request and I hope you like it!

“I have to admit, babe,” Fives says cheerfully as he drags your mattress from your bedroom and drops it on the floor in front of your holo, and then vanishes back into your bedroom to grab pillows and blankets, “This is a first for me.” He finishes as he tosses the bedding onto the mattress and then drops on the mattress himself.
“To which bit?” You ask, allowing him to get himself settled on the mattress before joining him in the nest of blankets and pillows.
He considers you for a moment, “All of it.” Fives finally decides with a decisive nod, “I don’t think sharing a barracks with my brothers counts as a sleepover, and I know I’ve never had a movie marathon before.”
“Well, I’m happy to give you new experiences.” You reply with a grin as you nudge him gently.
He catches you and tugs you so you’re both toppled over on the mattress, with you sprawled across his chest, “You give me the best experiences.”
Honestly, you’d think it was a line if you didn’t know that Fives is just that type of man.
“Well, I do try.” You agree as you shift your weight slightly so you’re able to ghost your lips against his.
Fives accepts your affections for several minutes, his arms tight around you, even as he relaxes under your touch. Your handsome man is so touch-starved, that he almost melts whenever you touch him. Lucky for him, you’re a very physically affectionate person.
“So,” He asks after several long moments, “What’s the plan?”
You blink at him, uncomprehendingly, for a moment. And then you press your face against his chest. You got so distracted with kissing and touching him, that you forgot what tonight’s plan was.
Luckily for you, Fives is smarter than most people give him credit for.
“Well, I’m going to order a pizza and some cheesy bread from this hole-in-the-wall pizza place nearby, and then we’re going to watch—” You roll off of him and blindly reach for the box that the movies had come in, and you press it into his hand, “Lord of the Rings! The trilogy! The extended edition.”
Fives takes the case and eyes the actor on the front, and then he glances at you, “And how long are these movies?”
“...Oh, we’ll easily be here well until tomorrow night.”
“Super.”
For a moment, you’re worried that Fives doesn’t like the plan. It’s a lot simpler than most of the dates you’ve planned before. But your worries vanish the moment he turns his wide grin on you.
“Well then, I better message Rex and tell him I won’t be in tomorrow.”
“Really?”
It’s his turn to look surprised, “Yeah, of course. Why? Did you think I wouldn’t like it?”
“Uh, well…it’s not as elaborate as some of our dates, and I know you like those.”
Fives reaches out and cups your cheek, “Hey,”
You lift your gaze to meet his and want to melt at the look he’s directing at you.
“I like those dates because I’m there with you.” Fives says, his gaze serious, “The places we go and the things we do…none of it matters to me. All that matters is that you are there with me.”
You press your hand over his and rub your cheek against his rough palm, “Are you telling me that I was stressing myself out about those intricate dates, and you would have been perfectly content with a picnic and some sandwiches?”
“Babe, we could go to a salvage yard and I’d still have the best time because you’re with me.” He pauses for a moment, his thumb rubbing against your cheek, “Were you really stressing about dating me?”
“Wanted to impress you.” You mutter, sheepishly.
He laughs, his head falling back on your pastel pink pillow, and, still shaking with laughter, he tugs you back onto his chest. Fives’ eyes are dancing with mirth and his grin is wide, “I’ve always been impressed with you, you don’t have to go out of your way.”
“Well, I know that now—”
He takes your hand in his and then presses it over his steadily beating heart. “This is all for you,” Fives says, his voice soft and warm, “Every beat of my heart, every breath I take, it’s all for you. It’ll only ever be for you.”
You groan and press your face back against his chest, “You’re such a sap.”
“I’m a romantic, babe.” Fives counters smugly, “Love is a battlefield and I’m going to win.”
You lift your head and grin at him, trying not to laugh, “Well, I’ll be rooting for you.”“For us, babe. Us!” He tugs you up into a kiss, quick and almost chaste, “Now, order us some food while I start the movie. My brothers are going to be so jealous—”

Man sometimes I’ll be minding my own business, feeling perfectly fine and then I’ll remember this one comic someone made (it was a gorgeous comic and I hold it very dearly in my heart) where basically Echo walked in on Crosshair causing some mischief and accidentally called him Fives.
And then I’m no longer okay.

Galaxies Apart but Always Together
Fives finds out that his brother is still alive.
🁋🁋🁋🁋🁋🁋🁋🁋🁋🁋🁋🁋
Guess who's back on their usual bs! Yes, that's right, it's me. Thinking about Echo's rescue from the Citadel and what would've happened if Fives was still there made me think of this.
Angst but with some comfort as well because I'm not going to be that mean to you today :D

“Where is he?”
“Fives. Calm down.”
“I said, where is he?”
His captain grabbed onto his shoulders and held him in place, face stern. “The medics are giving him a once over. I need you to calm down. Take a deep breath.”
“Calm down?” Fives’ anger felt bitter in his mouth. “I get an emergency comm asking for my immediate return and I come back expecting to be told that one of you has died only to find out that my twin is still alive. And you want me to calm down?”
“I get that you’re angry, Fives, but I need you to stay with me here.”
“You don’t get anything. You’re not the one whose batchmate has magically arisen from the dead. Let me see him!”
“You know I can’t do that. There’s no point in barging in there right now. They aren’t going to let you see him until they’ve finished running their tests.” Rex’s grip tightened slightly. “Stay here and settle down a bit. You can go and see him as soon as they give the go ahead.”
“How long have you known?”
Rex’s stoney face gave way to mild surprise. “What?”
“I said, how long have you known?” Fives’ fists were clenched at his sides. His jaw was set and he was not letting his next line of questioning go unanswered.
“We only found out today.” The captain’s hands fell down to his sides.
“So what? You just found him? By accident?” He was met with hesitation as Rex avoided making eye contact. His brother seemed to be more interested in looking over his shoulder and down the corridor rather than at his face.
“Not quite.”
“What do you mean not quite? You just said you didn’t know.”
“We didn’t know for certain.” Rex sighed and met his gaze again. He looked slightly defeated. It was only now that Fives noticed the bags under the captain’s eyes. It didn’t look like he had slept recently. “Once we found out what strategies the Separatists knew, I had my suspicions. Cody and Anakin were less convinced but-”
“Wait. Cody and Anakin knew?” He stared at his brother in disbelief, his blood starting to come back up to a boil. “What is this? Are you telling me that I’m the only man in the GAR who didn’t know his own twin was alive?”
Rex sighed in frustration. “Fives, just listen to me for a minute, okay? Yes, we thought it was a possibility. But we couldn’t know for sure. I mean, the chances of Echo being alive this long after the Citadel were almost non-existent! We felt it was best if you were kept unaware until we knew what we were dealing with.”
“So you kept me in the dark? On purpose?”
“Yes. But we did it for your own good.”
Fives rolled his eyes and turned to face away from his Captain. The sterile floor of the medical unit was far less annoying to look at right now than Rex’s face. They hadn’t told him. They hadn’t told him.
“Fives, listen.” He refused to turn back around. Rex continued anyway. “We thought it was best if you didn’t know right away. I know you. I’ve known you since you were a shiny. So has Cody. And because of that we know that you can be impulsive and reckless, especially when your squad is involved. If we had told you that there was a chance of Echo being alive you would have jumped on the next shuttle out of here and gone to find him no matter what we said. Doing it this way meant that if our suspicions were wrong, and there was a good chance they could have been wrong, then you wouldn’t have gone through the pain of losing him again.”
“Would you have told me? If you hadn’t found him would you still have told me?”
“We would have done what was best.”
That wasn’t a yes. It also wasn’t a no. Fives’ skin prickled. They might never have told him. Despite all of their suspicions and their plans and their knowledge of how much this would have meant to him, they still went behind his back. He deserved to have been there. He should have been there.
“I want to see him.”
Another sigh. “I know. But you also know that you can’t right now.”
Fives could feel his cheeks start to burn and his eyes sting with unshed tears. A hand settled on his shoulder.
“Come to the break room with me. Sit down, take a breather, and I can tell you what I know. Then you can go and see him, okay?”
Fives swallowed the lump in his throat before giving a small nod. He pushed back the tears and stood up straighter, letting his brother lead him down the corridor to a small break room reserved for those waiting on updates from the medics. Fives slumped down on a small sofa, resting his elbows on his knees. Rex sat down next to him. He placed a hand on Fives’ leg to stop him from bouncing it up and down. With how pent up he was, there was a chance he would wear a hole in the floor before the end of the conversation. No-one said anything for a while. Fives could feel the tension in the air. It was Rex that tried to break it first.
“You feeling any better?”
“No.”
A sigh. “I just want to help, vod’ika. What can I do?”
“Just let me see him.” Fives wasn’t going to let Rex’s terms of endearment sway him. He knew his brother was trying to distract him from everything.
“How many times do I have to tell you that I can’t do that?” Despite the question, Rex didn’t sound frustrated. “Anyway, he’s not going to be much of a conversationalist when he’s sedated.”
Fives shot up, horrified. “Sedated?” The captain had failed to mention that tidbit of information before. Along with every other thing he’d kept hidden.
Rex flinched. “Err… yeah. They had to put Echo under to run the tests.”
“What? Why?”
“He freaked out when they tried to run the check up. Turns out he still has a mean right hook on him.” Rex gave a mirthless laugh. “He took a swing at one of the medics, nearly took his eye out. They thought it would be best to knock him out for the time being.”
Fives felt cold. His ears were ringing. Echo had never been the biggest fan of the medbay to begin with, but it was never so bad that he would attack the medical staff. “How bad is it?” There was no response. Rex looked uncomfortable, too uncomfortable for Fives to stop panicking about what had happened to his twin while he had been gone. “Rex. Tell me. How bad is it?” His chest felt tight.
It took a moment for his brother to answer. “It’s-” Rex paused and started ringing his hands. He always did it when the news was bad. It wasn’t a good sign. “It’s- He’s.” The captain’s shoulders slumped. “It’s worse than we thought.”
Fives felt like the ground had disappeared beneath him. He was shaking.
Rex screwed his eyes shut. He was squeezing his right hand a little too hard with his left. He was probably going to have a bruise there come morning. “He lost three of his limbs.”
That shouldn’t have been surprising but it was. Echo had blown up. Of course the chance of him losing his limbs was high. Maybe it was because Echo had already defied the odds just by surviving that up until this point Fives had assumed his brother was still in one piece. “What else?”
“I don’t know if this is the best time-”
“Rex. Please. I’m going to find out sooner or later. What happened?”
If Fives hadn’t been panicking before, he definitely was now. Rex looked like he was about to cry.
“They experimented on him.” His voice was trembling. “We found him in a cryochamber. They had him hooked up to machines. So many machines. He was plugged in like some sort… some sort of object.” Fives felt his heart plummet. “Tech had to disconnect him from the server. They were extracting information from his brain, that’s how they knew the plans. But it wasn’t just his head. It’s his pulmonary system, his respiratory system. It’s all tied up with cybernetics.” Rex looked at him. His eyes were wet. “They were turning him into a droid, Fives. One they could command at their will. The medics aren’t even sure they can run the necessary tests, not when he’s more machine than anything else. Kix said his heart rate is lower than it should be, but that could be the new normal for him. We don’t know how much we can do.”
Fives’ stomach rolled. He felt like he was going to be sick. More machine than anything else. They’d hurt his brother. Used him for their own sick games. And they could have stopped it.
“We should have gone back for him.”
“We didn’t have a choice, Fives.”
“We should have saved him!”
“And done what?” Fives looked at Rex in surprise. He hadn’t expected his brother to snap at him. He watched the man next to him shift slightly, clearly unsettled by his own outburst. Fives didn’t know what to say, but it looked like he didn’t have to.
“I understand your anger, Fives. I do. I’ve spent the last year wishing we could have gone back for him. But we couldn’t. And even if we had, there was nothing we could’ve done. The Kaminoans wouldn’t have helped him, not with the level of injuries he had. And that would have been if we were even able to get him off-planet.
“I never wanted it to be this way, Fives. None of us did. But he’s back. He’s back and he’s going to need us now more than ever. We have to be there for him.”
Fives let out a shaky breath. “I’m so scared, Rex.”
“I know, vod’ika. I know.” Fives let himself be drawn into a hug as the two men shared their grief.
🁋🁋🁋🁋🁋🁋🁋🁋🁋🁋🁋🁋
Rex was right. It was bad. Actually, the captain had understated just how bad it was. Nothing could’ve prepared Fives for the sight that had met him when he finally entered the medbay.
His brother was on the bed, hooked up to wires and machines that were monitoring his vitals. Kix was right, his heart rate was too low. It was unnerving. Echo’s skin was pale, sickly, his usual tan muted by the pallor he used to get on the rare occasion he came down with a virus. Fives had asked the medics about the ports in his brother’s head, whether they would stay there. He was told that they couldn’t take them out, not without doing damage to Echo’s brain. They were going to have to stay.
The decision had been made to get some new legs made to replace the ones the Techno Union had given to him. No conclusions had been made about the scomp link just yet. They were going to leave that for Echo to decide when he woke up.
Fives shifted uncomfortably in his chair. He was starting to ache and his hands were damp with sweat from where he had been clasping onto Echo’s. He’d been there for the last few hours, but he wasn’t going to move now. He was staying by that bedside until his brother woke up.
🁋🁋🁋🁋🁋🁋🁋🁋🁋🁋🁋🁋
“What do you mean you’re leaving?” Fives stared at his brother in complete disbelief. He and Echo were in the barracks, having just come back from the mess hall. Echo had seemed tense and unusually quiet while they were eating, but never did Fives suspect that this was the reason why.
“I mean that the Batch have offered me a spot with them. And I’m going to take it.”
“But-” Fives didn’t know how to respond to that. That was it? After everything that they had been through? Rishi, The Citadel, Anaxes? He was just going to up and leave?
“I’ll still see you around, just not as often. I need to do this, Fives.”
“Do what?” Fives was angry. “Leave your brothers behind? After everything?”
“Fives…”
“Don’t “Fives” me! You're leaving the 501st! For a group of clones you don’t know!”
“They helped rescue me from the Citadel.”
“I would have too!” A fire burned hot in his gut. “The only reason I didn’t is because I would have been a liability apparently!”
“You know they made the right decision about that, Vod.”
“No! You don’t get to tell me what is and isn’t the right choice for me! Not when you’re about to go and run off with a bunch of strangers.”
Echo’s face turned stoney. He fixed Fives with a cold glare and folded his arms across his chest. “Stop. You’re acting like a child.”
Fives scoffed. “Me? A child?” He pointed an accusatory finger at his twin. “You’re the one that’s leaving us behind to go and hang out with your new friends that you’ve only known for all of five minutes!”
“And yet right now, they’re being far more accepting of my decisions than you are.”
“They didn’t even trust you!” Fives flung his arms up in frustration. “They thought you were working for the Separatists!”
“They had every right to do so and you know it.” Echo’s voice was level, but stern, unhappy. “This is my choice, Fives.”
“It’s a stupid choice if you ask me.” All he got in response was a glare. He rarely saw Echo this annoyed and that probably should have worried him, but he was too frustrated to care.
“You’re 501st, Echo! You have been since the day Rex took us in. You can’t abandon that now.”
Echo bit the inside of his cheek, clearly mulling over what he was going to say next. Unfortunately, it didn’t look like his thought process involved changing his mind.
“I’m not abandoning anything. Things aren’t the same anymore, Fives. I have to do what’s necessary for me right now.”
And apparently that didn’t seem to involve his brothers. Nor his own twin. Fives looked Echo right in the eyes. “You’re right. Things aren’t the same anymore.” And with that he stormed out the door, barging Echo’s shoulder on the way and muttering a sharp “hope you enjoy your new family” as he marched down the hallway.
🁋🁋🁋🁋🁋🁋🁋🁋🁋🁋🁋🁋
“There you are.”
Fives look up from where he was hunched on the floor to find Rex standing in the doorway, hands on his hips. His brother came over to sit next to him, slotting himself in the small gap between Fives and the next bunk over. It was narrow enough that Fives found himself pressed shoulder to shoulder with the captain.
“Echo’s leaving.” It was all he could muster up at this point.
“I know.” Rex glanced at him before staring at the wall opposite. “He tracked me down, panicking because you’d stormed off after an argument, so I’ve spent the last two hours trying to find out where you’d holed yourself up. And there was me thinking I was done with you guys and your fights."
When the attempted joke didn’t get a reply he nudged Five’s shoulder gently. “You know he’s making the right choice.”
That got Fives fired up again. “You’re letting him go?”
“I’m not letting him do anything. It’s his choice.”
“But you're our captain. Surely you can make him stay.”
“I could, but I’m not going to.”
“Why not? He’s leaving us behind!”
Rex’s face was gentle as he faced Fives. “He’s not leaving us behind and you know it. He’s going where he needs to be.”
“But he needs to be here!”
“No.” Rex gave him a soft smile. “You need him to tell you it’s all going to be okay. That’s not the same thing.”
“You’re letting him go off with a bunch of lunatics.”
His brother chuckled. “Once again, I’m not letting him do anything. And they’re good men. They’ll look after him.”
Fives furrowed his eyebrows. “You punched Crosshair in the face.” He was hoping that his unimpressed look would show the captain just how ridiculous he found this whole situation. Rex floundered slightly as he tried to find his next words.
“Err… well.” He coughed nervously. “Maybe I did.” He quickly pulled himself together. “But tensions were running high. We were all stressed out. I have every faith that they will look after him.”
Fives was still not convinced.
“I mean it, vod’ika. Echo’s doing the right thing.”
“You’re just saying that because he’s your favourite.”
Rex shot him a grin. “Maybe I am.” Fives punched him in the shoulder. “And maybe I’m saying it because I want both of you to be happy.”
Fives curled up into himself. He felt less frustrated and more disheartened. His twin was  going to leave. “How can I be happy when he’s not here?”
“Because you know he’s going to be out there somewhere. And you know he’s going to be doing what he needs to.” Rex leant into him, putting a comforting weight on his side. “I don’t want him to leave either. But I know that we can’t help him the way we want to, not right now. It’s not going to be easy, but I’ll take comfort knowing that there are people out there who can help him heal, and you should too. He’ll always be our brother, Fives. And he’ll always be your twin. Never forget that.”
🁋🁋🁋🁋🁋🁋🁋🁋🁋🁋🁋🁋
“I’m sorry I yelled at you.” Fives was sat on the bed in front of Echo, arms wrapped around his legs, which were brought up to his chest. He tucked his chin into his knees and glanced up at his brother, who was sat with his legs crossed, looking at his twin intently.
“I know.” Echo bowed his head and picked at the end of his scomp nervously. “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you sooner.”
“No, you were right to wait. All I would’ve done is yell at you sooner.” Fives tried to give a halfhearted smile, but his mouth twitched sadly. After his conversation with Rex, he’d come to find his brother, hoping to reconcile for what had happened before. Things were uncomfortably tense and Fives couldn’t help but fidget anxiously.
“I’ll always love you, you know that right?”
“Of course I do, Echo.”
“No. I mean it.” Echo stared at him intently. “I know that you’re going to get all caught up in that head of yours and convince yourself that I left because I don’t love you anymore. Or that I walked away because I blame you for leaving me at the Citadel.”
Fives flinched. That cut a little deeper than he was hoping.
“My path is different now, Fives. I can’t escape what happened to me on Skako Minor, but I can learn to live with it. I’m not the man I once was, and I can’t pretend like nothing has changed. I’m doing what’s best for me, Fives. Not because you’ve done anything wrong, but because what I need right now is to be with people who understand what it’s like to be different.” Echo shuffled forward awkwardly and took one of Fives’ hands in his own. “Things are different now, vod, but that doesn’t mean I love you any less. And, hey, now I can access even more reg manuals than before.” He gave his scomp a quick spin and grinned at his brother. Fives felt the corner of his mouth twitch up in amusement.
“I’m going to miss you.” Fives mumbled, brushing his thumb over Echo’s hand.
“I know, vod. I’m going to miss you too. But remember, I’m always going to be a comms call away. If you need me to get you out of trouble, give me a call and I’ll be right there.”
“Going to use all that new insider knowledge to save my shebs?”
“Of course.” Echo looked at him with a big smile before his face grew soft. “Everything is going to be fine, you hear me?”
“You said that before the Citadel.”
“Yeah, well.” Echo shrugged. “Geniuses can’t be right all of the time.” Fives shoved his shoulder, chuckling.
He pulled Echo into a hug, wrapping his arms around him tightly and burying his head in his neck. “You promise me it’s going to be alright?” His voice was muffled by Echo’s shoulder.
“I promise, vod.” Fives was starting to feel better. He was scared, sure, but he trusted Echo’s reassurances. Maybe Rex had had a point. Maybe all he needed was to be told it was going to be okay. Stupid Rex being right all the time.
“Promise me they aren’t going to be your new favourite people?”
Echo laughed and gave him a squeeze. “Hmm, I don’t know about that. Tech has some pretty cool stuff to play with and Wrecker-” Fives jabbed his finger into his twin's side, which just made Echo laugh harder.
“Okay, okay. I promise. You’ll always be my favourite.”
“Di’kut.” Fives mumbled.
The galaxy may be changing, but if there was one thing Fives knew for certain, it’s that the dominoes always stuck together, even if they were galaxies apart.
