THE HIGH PRIESTESS: When has trusting their instincts paid off for your character?

Trusting her instincts generally seems to work out very well for Thia. She is a huntress, after all. She has to rely on her instincts to survive. 

One none hunting instance in which they really paid off for her, however, is in accepting Irusan despite how mysterious his introduction to her was. Trusting herself when she felt he was not a threat brought her her best friend, after all.

THE HIEROPHANT IN REVERSE: When has your character’s personal beliefs been challenged?

Thia’s personal beliefs have been challenged a bit since the time she spent in the Dream World. She doesn’t believe that she could ever become a heretic and turn on her goddess, but the conflicting memories she took from there have left her a bit confused.

THE WHEEL OF FORTUNE: What are your character’s proudest successes?

She is honestly proud of just how powerful a sorceress she has become. Though already powerful when she left home, but it was nothing compared to the scale of the storms that she can conjure now.

THE TOWER IN REVERSE: When has your character’s actions led to disaster?

The worst example of this would probably be when she died. Though she maintains it wouldn’t have happened if that damned lord of hell hadn’t intervened, it is probably a fact that she got too cocky. Her actions had gotten an assassin sent after her and her complacency allowed them to catch her.

THE HIEROPHANT: Who has served as a mentor to your character?

Her parents have probably been the biggest ones. They have taught her a lot, both in terms of martial arts and in general lifeskills and attitudes. 

THE SUN IN REVERSE: When does your character’s goal seem just out of reach?

Sometimes when watching her parents, honestly. Even though she knows they’ve been training a lot longer than her, Caela sometimes questions whether she

THE MOON: When has your character’s path been unclear?

Growing up, it often was. Skylar always felt like she was meant for more than just being an innkeeper, but it was often up in the air how she would ever reach any other sorts of opportunities. 

THE WORLD: When has one of your character’s dreams come true?

When she was first accepted to university in Gavony’s capital. It was her ticket out of her small town life and to the education she had been dreaming of getting.

A4) what things are they bad at?

Dealing with most social situations. She doesn’t really have great people skills by any stretch.

C2) in what position do they sleep?

On her side, curled up around Irusan. 

I2) have they ever questioned their sexuality?

She is more now, since being closer to people and society has been introducing her more to the idea of sexuality. It’s still something she’d really trying to figure out.

L1) what is their favorite fruit?

She’s quite fond of apples and wild strawberries, partially because both were generally easy for her to get. When she was a child, while Aasim was working sometimes, she’d spend the afternoon just lying in a clearing and eating wil strawberries until he came to fetch her.

T4) have they lied about anything they regret lying about?

Not really. Thia doesn’t lie very often, and when she does it is usually because she thinks it is necessary.

E2) do they do things that conform to the norm?

About as much as any teen girl does. She’s not exactly a conformist, but she doesn’t go out of her way to stand out all that often, either. She lets her friends handle that for the most part.

F5) do they go out a lot?

She is out with her friends a lot. She enjoys spending as much time with all of them as possible.

J3) are there any songs that bring them joy?

Most Kaylie Shorthalt songs do, at least partially because she associates them with Celandine.

O3) are they good at giving advice?

She tries to be and her friends would probably say that she is, though whether most people would agree is a bit more questionable.

Not usually. She leaves that more to Celandine and Arwin.

C4) what is their major comfort food? why?

Red velvet anything. She loves the taste of it, but it also just kinda fits her aesthetic and Better Than You attitude in a way that makes her feel pretty good.

D5) do they like makeup/nail/beauty trends?

She does, when she is in the position to put them to use. Araseli is very conscious of her appearance both for business and for her own enjoyment.

K3) if they could kill anyone without punishment, would they? who?

Yes. Possibly starting with most of her current companions, then probably the assassin that killed her, then the people that cast her out to begin with.

P4) what of their personality do others envy?

Probably her confidence. Not matter what the situation, she is always pretty sure of herself.

S2) would they give money to someone on the streets?

She’d be more likely to take it from them, honestly. Unless she is in a guise that should be charitable.

F1) what do they do for fun?

Read, mostly. Or study maps and information for future digs. She is a bit of a nerdy workaholic like that.

G3) what benefits come with being their friend?

She’s a pretty caring person who likes to be helpful and to see people happy. Also if you don’t mind how much she likes to talk about her work, she can have a lot of interesting stories to tell.

N3) is there anything they absolutely can’t believe people do? 

Generally hiding things. She doesn’t like to know about information being kept from people for any reason. It never seems to serve anyone well.

O1) are they optimistic or pessimistic?

She is pretty optimistic most of the time. Skylar usually prefers to be pretty upbeat and expect the best out of things.

There isn’t really anything about her own personality that she dislikes, but in other’s she doesn’t like people that are condescending.

“Run away with me.”

The words ran through her mind as the stood facing each other across the room, the air flowing faster than should be natural in the presence of the two elementally charged young women, one who looked otherwise human and another who decidedly did not. 

Despite the anger coursing through her veins and the urgency of her current situation, the air genasi allows herself the one moment to pause. To consider the fact that she maybe doesn’t want to leave this place alone. That maybe she could taken on piece of home with her. 

She looks Alessandra in the eyes, blue features softening a bit at the expression on the younger woman’s face. While everyone else she had been pushing her way past wore one of fear, her’s was something else. Concern? Sadness? Perhaps both. For a moment, a cold heart almost begins to thaw. 

“Runaway with me.”

She wants to say those words. After all, Alessandra had always tried to make things different between them. To be better than the rest of them. 

But the words catch in her throat as she remembers just how wide the gap between them truly was, no matter how much Alessandra had tried to make things otherwise. Bitterness grabs hold and her heart once again freezes over as she turns and continues to run. 

“Laela!” Alessandra calls, making as if she was about to run after her before a sudden gust of wind pushes her back. No other response is given and Araseli vowed to herself that she would never respond to anything other than her chosen name ever again.

“That will likely depend on who I am the most irritated with by the time it is over. Finding a way to dispose of that frustrating little imp we have following us sounds like a nice place to start though.”

Both Caela and Keithia are probably like this, but given recent events….I’d say Keithia might be slightly more ruthless in doing so.

Araseli: do the people you're being forced to work with have any redeeming qualities? anything that might stop you from killing them?

“Oh, these people…I positively hate that I am stuck in this situation and the only thing that is really keeping from killing them is unfortunate necessity and that impish little parole officer from hell we have watching us!

I also cannot really go making that much of a scene just yet. These unfortunate circumstances do have one, small silver lining in that they have given me an element of surprise when I am finally able to go back to settle some personal matters. 

As far as redeeming qualities go….there are not many that I have seen yet, though a couple of them have shown uses. The barbarian does make a good shield, which I appreciate, and being on good terms with Az’ar has the advantage of getting me access to that mansion of her’s, which is certainly preferable to sleeping on the ground in this gods forsaken desert. Plus, she seems to be the only one that makes for decent, civilized company so far and I do not know if I could survive this with my sanity in tact without that. 

As for the other two….it is a constant test of patience and slight disdainful reverence to our otherworldly employer that has kept me from wasting some of my magic for the simple purpose of shutting them up.”

Araseli: What is your favorite spell?

“Different spells are my favourite in different situations. It depends on what I need them for. Some spells are better for deception and manipulation, some are better for combat, some are useful for travelling, and some are just really fun to cast. 

Plane shift is fun when it is needed. Investiture of wind is also fun. Any spells that allow me to cause a storm are useful. But I will admit, I have a particular fondness for Call Lightning. It has a bit of a dramatic flair to it that I am partial to.”

Araseli: You're an air genasi right? So... which parent is an air elemental and why did the other one think that was a good idea.

“That is quite an ignorant assumption you are making. First of all, my bloodline does not come from an air elemental as you are thinking of one. It comes from the djinn. Second of all, neither of my parents is one of those themselves. The bloodline comes from my mother’s side, though I am the first genasi born from it in a few generations. Much to my mother’s embarrassment and my father’s dismay. I do not think she ever even told him this was a possibility. He only found out when I was born. If he had known that there was even the remote possibility of this, I am not sure he would have thought that marriage was a good idea.”

Araceli: what do you think you'll do as soon as we complete this "quest" and dispose of the others?

“I have a few scores that I still need to settle and do not appreciate having been distracted from. Especially not since someone apparently went through the trouble of having me assassinated. So I will be hoping that whatever these morons put us through does not leave me with many new messes that might slow me down, possibly calling in a few favors if I haven’t had to squander too many of those on this ridiculous scavenger hunt, and then heading to pay said parties a visit to inform them that I am, in fact, still alive. Though whether or not they will remain so themselves is….questionable, to be quite generous.”

Which OC….

1. Is most likely to go on a rant for an hour

Probably Araseli. She is the most outspoken and generally the most dramatic and quick to anger one of the lot. If she is upset or annoyed with someone or something and is not in a position where she is trying to uphold a certain image, they she will most definitely let her grievances be known.

2. Starts or wants to rant but restrains themself

Caela. She has a bit of teenaged irritability to her and sometimes lacks the restraint she should have in her class, but she is trying to learn how to be more calm and exert better emotional control. Besides that, she never wants to end up upsetting her friends or her parents if she gets going and says the wrong thing. 

3. Is surprisingly articulate

In some regards, probably Keithia. If you know her background, you might not expect her to be very articulate considering she was kept largely away from other people and received no formal education as a child, but she’s quite an observant person and can be quite expressive at times. She’s not always great at interacting with people in crowds, but she’s good at picking up on things other people might not, has learned a fair amount of languages over the years, and is good at expressing what she thinks when it seems important to the group.

4. Is surprisingly inarticulate

Probably Caela. She’s not really inarticulate, but she does struggle in dealing with people or expressing how she feels about things sometimes and compared to Arwin and Celandine, who are very talkative, she tends to be more on the quiet side and prefer to let them do the talking and only intervene if it seems like they might be getting themselves into trouble.

10. Settles into a begrudging silence when outplayed

Araseli, though perhaps it is more fuming than begrudging. She does not like to be outplayed.

16. Is very polite or mild mannered

Keithia. She might not always know the ‘proper’ thing to do in any situation, but she does try to learn and to be kind and polite to everyone. She is also rarely quick to anger and for her to be anything other than mild mannered is a bit shocking. 

17. Is blunt or otherwise painfully honest

Araseli. Unless she has a reason for needing to hold back, she likes to make her opinions heard. 

18. Likes to tease others playfully

Caela. She probably teases her friends quite a bit, sometimes for things that other people give them a hard time about. From her, however, it’s different. And most things she might say as a joke, she will give anyone else hell for saying in any other way. 

19. Is serious

Probably Araseli. She is the most calculating for sure. While Caela and Keithia both have more energetic and playful sides to them, Araseli is very goal oriented and not one to be distracted from those goals for anything.

20. Is questioning or nosey

Probably Caela the most of all. She likes to know what the people around her are up to, even if she doesn’t really understand whatever it is.

KEITHIA:

4. How easy is it to earn their trust?

This is….kind of a complicated question. It’s not exactly easy, but it’s not necessarily overly hard either. It mostly just requires patience like getting an animal to warm up to you would. She’s a bit slow to get comfortable around people, but she’ll warm up pretty easily over time. 

5. How easy is it to earn their mistrust?

This is probably far easier than earning her trust in the first place. If she gets to a point where she thinks you are a safe person to be around and that you won’t hurt her in any way and then you do, that’s going to unravel a lot. 

21. Why do they get up in the morning? 

Habit, mostly. To some degree, she is a bit of a creature of routine. Growing up there was always at least a little bit of structure to her days. She has always been motivated by survival, though admittedly her life with the party currently has brought out a lot of her bright and more personable nature that gives her more reason to want to keep going through these motions outside of just her usual drives. 

22. How does jealousy manifest itself in them (they become possessive, they become aloof, etc)? 

She doesn’t tend to get jealous often, but if she were I think it would come out in similar ways to her pride. She could be a little bit petulant and starts trying to prove that she’s better than whoever it is she is jealous of. 

37. Do they have a system for remembering names, long lists of numbers, things that need to go in a certain order (like anagrams, putting things to melodies, etc)? 

She doesn’t necessarily have a perfect system, but Keithia does have something of a knack for remembering things. She tends to have a lot of mental lists of things. One the keep is built, however, she will probably have an area of her room that will just essentially be a conspiracy wall where she tries to keep all of her thoughts straight. 

H) What trait do you admire most?

In a strange way….her naivete. I admire that innocent, childlike mindset she also has and I feel a bit bad about the fact that I’m going to have to let it be ripped away from her. Alternatively, her kindness. 

CAELA

3) How do they put themselves to bed at night (reading, singing, thinking?)

She probably does a round of training, then has a hot bath, and then sits around and reads or writes for a little bit until she lets herself go into her trance.

13) What color do they think they look best in? Do they actually look best in that color?

I think she probably looks best in deep colors. Blues, purples, reds. However, she also has an affinity for yellow. She doesn’t necessarily think much about what colors look best on her though. She just tends to throw on whatever she has.

27) What causes them to feel dread?

Not much. Her life is pretty simple, outside of the usual high school hijinks. However, anything that looks like it’s going to cause trouble for her friends makes her worried.

28) Would they prefer a lie over an unpleasant truth? 

Not generally. She’d rather know the truth and get on with it as opposed to be ignorant. 

35)  How do they treat the things their friends come to them excited about? Are they supportive?

Caela is always very encouraging of her friends’ interests, especially Celandine. Even when she does not understand a single thing that they are saying, she will smile and listen and try to engage them however she can. 

A) Why are you excited about this character?

I get excited about how both her setting and her personality is so much different from Keithia and Araseli. She’s not out to save the world, she is just trying to get through high school. She’s not a femme fatale type like Araseli or a kind hearted survivalist like Thia, she’s just this energetic, kind of tomboyish, very mom-friendy teenaged girl. It’s a nice shift from the more high stakes games sometimes and her dynamic with her friends is a lot of fun to play with, especially when compared to the friends of circumstance we get in the other games.

ARASELI

8) What were they told to stop/start doing most often as a child?

Mostly Araseli was always told to keep herself out of the way. To be quiet, stay hidden, and not draw attention to herself. She always hated that and still very much resents it.

9) Do they swear? Do they remember their first swear word?

Depends on the situation. She typically tries to carry herself in a very ladylike way, but if she gets angry she can definitely start swearing a lot. 

21) Why do they get up in the morning? 

Vengeance and resentment, which are really not good motivators for anything, but she has been holding onto them for so long that she’s not likely to let them go now.

26) What is their preferred mode of transportation? 

By magic, if it is an option. Otherwise, often by carriage escorted by whoever she has tricked into helping her at the time. Her favourite not magical form of travel, however, is by ship. 

41) How do they feel about children?

She doesn’t dislike them, but she’s also not overly fond of them. Some of them don’t bother her, but in general they seem to be a lot of trouble and though she feels some sympathy towards a few that she has come across, she would never want to be saddled with a child herself. 

F) What do you feel when you think of your OC (pride, excitement, frustration, etc)?

In some ways, challenged. I enjoy playing villains, even though it’s a bit harder and counter to my nature. I am also excited about that, however. She is so different from my other characters and the way that can play out is intriguing to me.

Whisper's favorite trick back at the carnival was conjuring water out of thin air, then turning the water into a tiny flock of dragons, each one a different glistening color, sending them soaring over the audience and making them vanish over the crowd, spaying them with water droplets.

Araseli has always loved the rain, even before she understood much about her magic. Where other people would run for shelter as soon as the heavens opened, she always loved the feeling of the drops dampening her hair and running down her skin. As she learned about what she could do and how she can manipulate the weather, she came to love it even more. She loves to make the breeze swirl around her and the drops dance as she wills them to. It’s a simple action that is both beautiful and a small reminder of just how powerful she can be.

4) How does your OC behave typically under severe stress?

Depends on the stress honestly. Battle stress she can typically handle well enough to keep going. Personal stress is a different thing altogether though. As seen when she has encountered her sister, personal stress that she feels closed into and doesn’t have a good distance or perspective on can render her practically catatonic. When she’s shocked or stressed, she sometimes just shuts down.

7) What does your OC hate and like about themselves?

She likes the skills that she has as an archer, a hunter/tracker, and a survivalist. She hates the lack of skills she has in dealing with people and social situations as well as the lack of information she has about herself.

10) What type of people does your OC idolize the most?

She doesn’t really have idols exactly, but she looks up to people like her guardian, Aasim, and Oriana. She admires how brave and strong and good and smart they are as well as how they seem to be able to handle so much. 

12) Is your OC mature or immature for their age?

In some ways, she is quite mature. She’s very observant and fairly wise for her age. However, in other ways (particularly in regard to her social skills) she is quite childlike and I suppose immature.

25) How does your OC see their own value in comparison to other people?

This tends to put everyone else around her ahead of herself. She may not be consciously aware of seeing herself as less valuable, but the way she acts and the way she seems to hold other in higher regard suggests that she maybe does a little.

29) Is your OC wild/ reckless or do they tend to stay on the safe side inside their comfort zone?

She tends to be pretty cautious. She likes being able to think things through and have at least some sort of a plan as opposed to just rush into things.

1) What does your OC feel is important to be talented at?

For her, it’s probably her athletic talents. Her martial arts training and teach at her parent’s dojo is such a large part of her life, so it would be hard for it to not be an important talent for her.

7) What does your OC hate and like about themselves?

She likes her athletic skills and her ability to stick up for her friends, she dislikes how she’s a bit too reactionary at times. She knows she needs to work on some of her emotional control a bit more. 

17)  What does your OC do when they’re dealing with intense emotional pain?

She probably goes into one of the training rooms at her parent’s dojo and just spends a lot of time punching and kicking things until she calms down. 

20) Do other people have misconceptions about some parts of your OC’s personality?

I think the fact that she comes across as so tough and reactionary means that people think she’s more aggressive than she actually is. She’s a little bit of a tomboy, but she’s not the sort of person who is constantly ready to fight everyone as she might come off.

25) How does your OC see their own value in comparison to other people?

Caela understands her value. Not to say that she holds her self in an unreasonably high regard, but she understands her place in her life and she is content with it. She knows she has value as a friend, a daughter, a teacher, and a protector to some degrees and she sees this as a good place to be in.

26) Does your OC live in self-denial about anything?

There’s not many things she is exactly in denial about, but there are some areas where she sells herself short. For instance, Caela doesn’t see herself in the same amazing light that Celandine sees her. She doesn’t necessarily think much about things such as her looks and her social standing in their school considering she is quite content with herself and her life as it is, but if she wanted to be, she could probably be less of an outcast. However, she has no desire for popularity.

4) How does your OC behave typically under severe stress?

She is typically one to remain calm and try to get back control over a situation until it’s obvious that she’s not going to be able to. At that point, she’s probably more likely to lash out and summon a terrible storm or use her magic in some other way that will get her out of that situation.

9) What maladaptive behavioral models in your OC’s personality do they have to struggle with the most?

Anger and avoidance, probably.  She has a tendency to either lash out or run when a situation is no longer to her advantage. Or possibly do both. 

21) How much of an attention seeker is your OC?

Depends a little bit on the situation. If it’s more to her advantage to be a wallflower, she will do so. However, given the choice, she does enjoy to command people’s attention. She felt quite starved for it as a child and likes to attract it now as an adult, even if it’s not always exactly to ‘her’.

26) Does your OC live in self-denial about anything?

Her own faults, honestly. She is very arrogant and holds herself up on a high pedestal in which she sees herself as infallible, even though she isn’t.

30) What could make your OC cry?

Without giving out too much detail, there’s a lot of pain in her past regarding her family that if people were to dig up could bring a few tears. Not of sadness, necessarily, but a lot of anger and resentment.
