I’m excited to present the preview for what I’ve been working on with @sunflowersinheaven for the @codywanreversebang! It’s been lovely to see all the works come together with posting starting soon, and I hope you enjoy this little sneak peek of the fic too 💖

“What’s this I hear about you and Kenobi going on a date this morning?” Bly asks. Cody nearly chokes on his drink. “A what? There was no–” He clears his throat. “Obi-Wan and I attended an issue that needed resolving before anything got out of hand. When it was done we had brunch, and that’s it.” Obi-Wan had introduced him to the concept of brunch during their unexpected meal. Cody feels a little bit cocky that he’s managed to use it in a sentence already. “Brunch?” Bly squeaks, eyes going wide in shock. “Oh, by all things natborns hold holy, you’re oblivious. You’re both completely, utterly, unswervingly, oblivious.” Cody elbows him. Bly splutters, but he points a finger at Cody. “That’s not true,” Cody says, thinking about how he’d almost touched Obi-Wan’s hand earlier this week, and how he’d knocked their feet together under the table today. Obi-Wan had not been averse to those gestures – nor to the other dozens of occasions where nearly something more happened, whether he or Cody had almost initiated it. “We are not oblivious.” “Then what? You’ve decided to do the pining stage for so long because you can’t stand not to be the expert in something?” “That’s not it either.” “Then I’m confused,” Bly says, leaning forward. “You do acknowledge that you like Master Kenobi, right?” “Of course I like him,” Cody says, looking at Bly dubiously. “No!” Bly huffs. “I mean, you want to squish his little cheeks and see him in his bathrobe and have front row seats every time he wrecks someone’s shit.” Bly’s eyes have gone a little dreamy. Cody elbows him, which Bly protests loudly. “I think you’re projecting your feelings towards a certain someone onto me,” Cody says flatly. “You know what I mean!” Bly huffs. “You want to kiss him and hold him and you feel all fluttery and warm when you see him. Don’t lie to my face Cody, I’ve known you too long for that.” Cody had known what Bly meant the first time, but it’s always run to rile him. “Of course I like him,” he repeats dryly, and Bly groans. “Then what’s going on between you two? Come on, I gotta tell Aayla the gossip. Don’t leave me out here without any backup. She has a mean streak, I swear.” “Try squishing her little cheeks,” Cody suggests, and Bly launches himself. Cody grapples with him, until Bly plays dirty by tickling him in the one spot every clone is weak to. Cody grumbles and Bly laughs, letting him go. “Okay, but seriously,” Bly says. “You know he likes you too, right?” Cody looks out over the rest of the bar so he won’t have to answer. It’s complicated. He and Obi-Wan have been a lot of things to each other, and moving onto something else, something new, is big. Cody hasn’t done anything like it before, and he isn’t sure how to start. “Cody?” Bly insists. “You know, right?”

Could We Start Again, Please? [2.1k] by @daughterofdungeonbat

Fic summary:

The war has ended, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Commander Cody have become much more serious in their relationship, and they've spent the last day moving Obi-Wan's things into Cody's new apartment. All is going well, until Cody tries to lighten the mood and misses Anakin's frantic attempts to stop him. Or- Obi-Wan has an extra lightsaber. It is not his.

Fic rec: Really loved the character voices here, and the post-war set up and pay off really works well! Has some funny and great lines too

Fic summary:

The bed is larger than Obi-Wan is used to, even now, even after sleeping in it night after night since the day after the war was declared finished. They had made do for so long on the narrow GAR-issued cots or the cramped bunks on the ships that a large bed felt like an indulgence, something to mark the official beginnings of their relationship even though they wound up curled together more often than not. On the floor, beneath the cascade of blankets, Cody’s chest rises and falls beneath Obi-Wan’s hand. There is a hitch to his breathing, an unsteadiness that only grows as Obi-Wan shifts, skating his fingers up over the cool, bare expanse. (Cody has a nightmare, and some things cannot be faced alone.)

Cody had raised an eyebrow at more than a few of Obi-Wan’s schemes in the past. Yet despite any of his reservations about a given gambit, Cody would join Obi-Wan on the front lines every time, even when he could have led from the fleet and let Obi-Wan clean up his own messes. “But I’m afraid his sound strategic reasoning hasn’t always foiled my plans to single handedly save the day.” OR: Two years into his exile on Tatooine, Obi-Wan comes across something in the desert that sets off a chain of events that may allow Obi-Wan to finally reclaim some peace. But first he'll have to rescue a purge trooper from the grips of the Empire.

Fic rec: I am just ajkhkfjg this one is SO GOOD. How Obi-Wan thinks/feels post O66 is so rich, and his refusal to let Cody go is just so everything aaaa. Great characterisation choices here alongside excellent writing.

codywan, 780 words, post-war no order 66 AU

“Oh Force, Cody, save me.” 

Cody doesn’t hesitate. Between one breath and the next he sweeps Obi-Wan into his arms, holding him close against his chest, and turns so his back is facing the centre of the room. Obi-Wan curls up against his chest, tucking his head in close. They’re of a similar enough height that Cody can’t completely hide his partner, but they’re close enough that Obi-Wan can claim plausible deniability that he didn’t see anyone who was looking for him. 

“Who is it?” Cody mutters into his ear, feeling his hair tickle against his lips. He’s still not used to this – not to holding Obi-Wan so openly in public, nor the strange fit of the formal wear across his shoulders, or the tang of the exotic food in his mouth. But he’s putting on a straight face, because he’s the most highly ranked clone here – the highly formerly ranked. With the GAR dissolved at the end of the war, he has no military titles any more. That doesn’t stop Senators and governmental leaders and random people on the street from recognising him. The holo that had gone viral of him and Obi-Wan kissing at the announcement of the war’s end, and Cody had only cursed his distinctive facial scar ever since. For once, he’d be more than happy to blend in among the anonymity of his brothers. 

“The Senator from Rhydills,” Obi-Wan replies, barely loud enough that Cody can hear him. “He’s coming over – to the dance floor, quickly.” 

Cody swings Obi-Wan out among the couples that are twirling around each other, and his mouth twitches in a smile as he hears an annoyed sigh. Obi-Wan takes the lead easily, and Cody focuses on remembering the steps that he had insisted that Obi-Wan teach him the day before. He hadn’t expected to dance, but he likes to account for all possibilities, and it’s paying off now. 

“What did he want to talk about?” Cody asks, wondering if Obi-Wan is trying to put the conversation off for a minute or for forever. 

“His planet has recently undergone a civil war between the two main religions that make up the majority of the population,” Obi-Wan answers. 

“While our war was ongoing?” Cody asks, a little startled. 

“Of course,” Obi-Wan snorts. “It never rains, my dear – it pours. But anyhow, he’s intent on resettling as many troopers as possible on his planet. The male population was near destroyed in the fighting, and they’re likely to have a population crisis in the next twenty years if he doesn’t make up for it somehow.” 

“With clones?” Cody asks. “But won’t that just give him a new population crisis in fifty years, when everyone’s children are related to each other?” 

“A point that I have tried to convey to him three times in the last week,” Obi-Wan sighs. “I think he is very fixated on the current moment. A regiment has resettled on Rhydills, but I think he was hoping for one of the armies instead.” 

Cody takes a moment to digest that. In the months since the war ended, there have been many offers from different planets to settle Cody’s brothers. Their contribution to the galaxy notwithstanding, Cody knows that the speed at which they learn, their adaptability, endurance, and tenaciousness of the clones in all areas, not only war, has made them attractive immigrants. Few had been willing to stay on Coruscant once the breadth of the galaxy was made available to them, though they are in the process of setting up a robust online presence to stay connected even as they scatter physically. One tenth of all of his brothers, on one planet? There’s no possibility of that happening. 

“So instead of telling him no for a fourth time, you’d prefer to dance with me?” Cody asks. He would love to kiss him, but even if their relationship is public now, he still shies away from any displays that draw attention to it. 

“If I were to list the activities I would prefer to avoid and instead dance with you, we would be here next week, my dear,” Obi-Wan says, eyes crinkling as he smiles. 

Cody holds his silence as they turn around the floor, though he can feel the heat in his cheeks as they move. “I would be here until next month,” he finally says, and Obi-Wan laughs. 

“Well, I shall not attempt to argue with that. If we’re both so invested in our time here, perhaps we should make good use of it?” 

“Yes,” Cody agrees, and pays no attention to Senators or politics or the rest of the galaxy – not when he has everything he needs right here, in his arms.

have some unorganised tragic codywan thoughts because they’ve taken over my brain <3

thinking about duty as almost akin to a fatal flaw - not as in their loyalty/duty is necessarily a bad thing, it’s a key part of both their characters and i think it’s something they both value/at least respect. anyway, duty is not a bad thing, but in terms of codywan it is (to me) what dooms their relationship, because ultimately when forced to choose, i think both would choose duty over their feelings and it is this that ultimately prevents any serious romantic relationship from occurring during the war. however, i also think that in a situation where they’re both aware of their feelings and at least address them to an extent, there’s a hope/expectation that there will be a time after the war in which they are (less) bound by duty (i very much believe that both would still have a strong sense of duty to the jedi/clones respectively, but without the context of the war they would be free from having to lead it, obviously). so they both have a hope that after the war they would be able to explore their feelings freely. so it’s the fact that they never get this chance, that from the beginning this would always be the case, that they never really had a chance to fight for it because no one knew there wouldn’t be an after, that makes the whole thing so tragic.

i was also thinking about ideas of fate/destiny in tragedy more broadly, and how it is very much a theme in star wars, particularly around anakin. but i also think that by extension particularly obi-wan’s character is very much shaped by ideas of fate/destiny. i don’t really have a point here i just think it’s interesting. (star wars as happening a long time ago and so the outcome was already decided, there was never anything that could be done to change it etc etc).

i think there’s also something to be said about the fact that tragedies (often, but certainly not universally) happen over a relatively short period of time, in part to signify a protagonists uncontrolled fall (that post about how revenge of the sith takes place over a few days/a week very much highlights this in relation to anakin). but for codywan their tragedy lasts for perhaps the entire war, because their tragedy is not an uncontrolled fall, but rather a continual and conscious choice to place duty above their feelings. i think the fact that they simultaneously have so many chances to choose their feelings, but would never really make that choice because of their duty/loyalty adds to the tragedy of their relationship. the tragedy as occurring over months and years as nothing changes even though time gives you every chance. etc etc

anyway i feel like this reads a bit like a very disorganised english essay, so sorry about that !! i don’t have an excuse, but tragic codywan does something to my brain. many thoughts etc etc.

Happy Cody Day! Have Some Fic Recs

I wasn't able to finish writing anything for the 2-2-24 cause, so it seems like the least I could do was throw some recommendations for a few of my favorite Cody-centric fics into the ring to help celebrate. Enjoy!

Gen:

And Your People Shall Never Be Destroyed (complete) by independent_variables

Summary: A-017 turned and regarded him silently for a long moment. “You ask a lot of questions, Kote.”

“Is that a good thing or a bad thing?”

“Is it really as simple as being one or the other?”

Kote bit his tongue.

‘17’s expression tightened, and he stepped forward to grip Kote’s shoulder.

“One day you’re going to ask a question you don’t like the answer to,” he said, eyes bright and burning. “And that’s when you’ll have to decide: is this a good thing, or a bad thing?”

My Comments: Features a whole slew of precocious CC cadets dealing with the horror show that is Kamino, but Cody is the POV character for the first, longest fic in this multi-story series. Heartbreaking with a happy, hopeful ending.

First Choice (complete) by smilebackwards

Summary: The clones get to choose their Jedi generals.

My Comments: This series has three fics in it, and while the first one is Obi-Wan-centric, the next two are from Cody's POV. The first two are a bit more serious in tone, while the last one is basically Cody's brothers relentlessly trolling him.

Shippy Fics (nothing explicit, because those fics are between me, God, and probably some overworked Ao3 website volunteers):

Our Own Choices (WIP Cody/Obi Wan) by heartofroses112

Summary: CC-2224 made the choice. Cody had to live with it. The Commander... well, he was prepared to burn the galaxy down as penance.

Or, Cody decides to leave the Empire, but that doesn't stop his past decisions from haunting him. In the midst of trying to repent for the crimes he 'willingly' committed, Cody may very well start a rebellion against the Empire while he's at it.

My Comments: Can it really be called shippy if we're 88 chapters in and the tagged pairing hasn't actually laid eyes on one another? Anyway, Codywan is pretty clearly endgame, if that either is or distinctly is not your thing. I'm mostly here for my catnip, which is the post-Clone Wars clone rebellion angle.

Our Caches and Constellations (complete Cody/Obi-Wan) by johanneb

Summary: Eleven years ago, the Jedi order got wind of the closing pincers of a Sith trap and scattered to the remote corners of the galaxy. Ten years ago, millions of clone commanders and troopers were introduced as the Republic’s new Army, made for fighting a war alongside people the galaxy seemed to be forgetting ever existed. Nine months ago, Commander Cody decided he was no longer going to risk his men's lives for the whims of clueless generals. Now, his decision to save a boy and a man in the desert, and the plan he comes up with to get away with it, will change the galaxy.

My Comments: Cody quiet quits the Empire as a prelude to loudly quitting the Empire, which is a lot easier in an AU where all space flight and communications technology is steampunk-y and fairly slow. Very creative world building.

100% open to receiving some recs too. I know both shippy recs were Codywan, but I'm not actually all that attached to that ship over any other. Happy @codyday2224 everyone!

“Let me know if you have any food allergies and I can probably recommend something,” Cody offers. “Nothing too sweet. Wouldn’t want to shock your system.”

“No allergies. Next time I’m here, I’ll let you do your worst,” Obi-Wan says, raising his newly filled mug of tea to Cody in a small toast.

Cody can feel a blush starting to rise on his cheeks and hopes he has enough melanin in his skin it’s not obvious. Is Obi-Wan flirting? And is Cody flirting back? Or is that just how people drink tea now, with all that direct eye contact. This is exactly why Cody doesn’t work the counter.

He's about to make a tactical retreat when someone burst through the doors--

The response is a crash, the shock of porcelain against tiles, and an effluent set of swearing all muddled together. Cody is already moving, undoing the latch and making his way to the kitchen where he had just been able to make out the shape of a person through the makeshift wall of shelves. It’s an action without thought, without a reason except that he couldn’t not. It would kill him one day, he knows.

“Hello, sorry, two seconds— Oh.”

Cody stops, blinks, and does the only thing he can think of. “Sorry. I— Yeah, sorry.”

The man pushes himself back to his feet, his tan trousers dark at the knees due to the water he had knelt in, smoothes his hands over his sides and leaves a secondary set of dark fingerprints before he offers a hand to Cody. “Obi-Wan Kenobi. I would offer you a cup of tea and to come in, but I seem to be having bother with half of that intention today.”

Cody bites his tongue, his cheeks flushed with embarrassment, and shakes Obi-Wan’s hand. There are calluses on the sides of his fingers, a ridge across the base of them and, curiously enough, ink stains splattered over his skin like he has been playing a losing game of dot to dot with the constellation of freckles he possesses. “I’m Cody, I used to live here and I am truly sorry about barging in. I heard the crash and wanted to help.”

His urge to help might just kill him now out of sheer secondhand embarassment.

“You wouldn’t, perhaps, be able to help me pick out a breadloaf, would you?”

Cody clicked his mouth shut and nodded, barely remembering to put his Sudoku book down before walking over to the shelves with the bread. “Anything in particular today?” he asked, preemptively grabbing a bag and trying to recover any semblance of professionalism.

“Well, see,” the man started, fidgeting again, “that’s just the thing. I’m not entirely sure. You see, I’m on my way to my brother’s and I said I would pick something up to go with dinner, but there are so many options here, that I, well-” he tapered off with a shrug.

“A little overwhelmed?” Cody offered.

“Just so,” the man nodded. “The twins, my niece and nephew, that is, they are just reaching the stage where they are extremely picky about what they eat. Well, Leia is. I’m sure Luke is too, actually, I think he is just less vocal about it. He’s really been avoidant of textures with seeds lately, but anyway, I’m getting terribly off subject,” the man sighed. Cody found the rambling cute.

Taking a breath, the man continued, “The point is, french bread has been declared an enemy of the palate according to the princess, and I need to find a substitute that will pair well with a pasta dish and according to my sister-in-law simply throwing Wonder Bread in the toaster is not an acceptable option.”

He finished his monologue with a huff and a pout and Cody couldn’t quite stifle the laugh in time. Gorgeous and adorable, Cody noted. And good with kids, a voice that sounded too much like Fox for his liking, also noted.

ok @ragequilt asked for these. Up first, the union organizer codywan fic (tentatively titled I ain't cut out for war, unless I know what I'm fighting for)

Someone, at some point, took the time and extra effort to build a swing on the front porch of the little house. Time, and effort, and someone had to go and find the metal links for the chain to hold it up, and the pieces of wood in good repair to lay for the seat, and as many again for the back. It’s worn smooth, maybe the only wooden piece of this house not likely to snag any piece of fabric that lays against it the wrong way. Obi-Wan can’t say if it’s from time or if it was sanded down that way, polished to a shine the first day it hung out here. Like everything else in this region, it’s impossible to say how old it is. Mornings are still chilly, no matter how deep into the summer they progress. The sun rises late, and burns off the inevitable early-morning mist even later. Obi-Wan often carries his little blanket from his pallet out onto the swing in the mornings, cradling his metal cup of coffee in his hands to poach the warmth. It seems easier inside when he’s not there gumming up the well-oiled machine of the family’s morning routine. It’s a Sunday, though, no work to be done for the miners of the family. There’s a cousin who comes with his wife and takes any of the younger boys he can corral with them to church. The older boys all, to a man, decline. It’s polite, but only just, and cold. No one says a word either way to the younger boys, and this cousin succeeds or fails purely on his own merits. It means it’s quiet, fewer bodies around and none of the frenetic awareness of somewhere to be. Obi-Wan sips his coffee and listens to birdsong. The quiet is broken by the rattle and roar of the truck up the dirt lane. Obi-Wan is growing used to the gentle insistence of the engine as it asserts itself, first subconsciously and then loudly enough that you notice in earnest. There’s something almost musical about the brief caesura when the engine cuts out, the percussive rhythm of doors opening and closing, the heavy bass thump of the gate coming to rest. Today there is added the uptempo insistence of Cody’s feet up into the truck bed, soft human sounds of him working as he unloads the cargo he’s brought back. His back is turned to the porch as he works, but there’s strength evident in his motions. He’s unloading bricks and dry goods sacks of what must be mix for mortar. It’s far too little to brick in the house, but Obi-Wan catches himself thinking of it anyway, red brick walls and whitewashed window shutters and a welcome mat out front. That cousin, with his wife, must be a good few years younger than Cody; still with a roundness to his cheeks that speaks of being a boy not so very long ago. Obi-Wan speaks before he really thinks, idly curious. “Cody, why aren’t you married?” Cody freezes, back still turned, and then snorts a laugh under his breath. “Ain’t I got enough to do already, Obi-Wan?"

12. How many WIP’s do you have in your docs for next year?

Oh man. Uh. Let's just assume that at any given time there are probably double-digits of files in my WIP folder in various stages of languishing, and probably like....idk, three-to-five that I actively think about at a time. I'm planning on putting up a poll once Foelu is finished to decide the next one I should actively work on and post, because I've actually quite liked this format of focusing my attention on one (1) and sharing it as I go, because the consistent feedback and cheerleading really is a HUGE boost. Foelu is gonna get finished cos of you guys, full stop.

Lol that got a little sidetracked, whoops. Anyway the WIPS I've been thinking about putting in that poll are the Codywan War Widow, Teacher, and Restaurant AUs, as well as the ObiMaul Sith Husbands AU and possibly a Fox/Padmé fic. So one of those will probably be the next one, at least.

17. Your favorite character to write this year?

Honestly?? Cody, I think. Obi-Wan is always a fucking delight of course but I just had SO MUCH fucking fun with Cody’s journey in They Told Me I Couldn't Bag A Jedi and I really feel like I did something with that series.

How many works do you have on ao3? 119, which is kind of...something when you consider that I only started writing fic again in 2022

What’s your total ao3 word count? 101, 481. Yeeps.

What fandoms do you write for? Most of those words are for The Clone Wars, but there are some other SW shows/movies in there too. I'm 100% Star Wars these days. But there are also works from Stargate, Firefly, Supernatural, and a couple of others.

Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? I do! I always respond to thank those who left me a comment at the very least and will try to answer questions or react to something specific if they have called it out. Fandom is about interaction.

What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? I suppose that depends on how one defines angst. Intensive Care ends with both Cody and Obi-Wan gravely wounded in bacta tanks. But None of Us Perfect ends with an OFC giving Anakin advice that will ultimately fail because...you know...Vader. So one of them is what I would maybe call "modern angst" in that fandom seems to have more specific definitions of it now but the other seems like a somewhat happy ending when we all know it's really not and never could be.

What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Honestly? I have no idea. These days, I tend to only write happy/fluffy sort of stuff, so most of them end well. Strictly Ballroom is about Waxer and Boil's first kiss and it's pretty sweet and happy, I think.

Do you get hate on fics? To date? No. Will I eventually? Probably? I dunno. I'm pretty small potatoes in the fic world....I don't have the kind of spotlight that draws hate.

Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Yes, I suppose that I do. 98% of it is clonesex, but there is a side of het in there with Thire and an OFC because when I started writing smut, I needed to do it with the kind of sex I am familiar with.

Do you write crossovers? I have written one crossover in my life. It is not on AO3.

Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not that I am aware of, no.

Have you ever had a fic translated? Yes, but it was a million years ago in a fandom far, far away.

Have you ever co-written a fic before? Yes.

What’s your all-time favorite ship? This question gives ME angst. I am not a shipper by nature and I've never had an OTP. In TCW, I very much enjoy Rex/Cody and it probably edges out my fondness of Codywan a little.

What’s a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will? I have about 15K written as a sequel to None of Us Perfect and I really would like to finish it because I started it when the Kenobi series aired as a sort of tribute to my friend Alex, who passed away before she could see it. I'm also just really fond of that OFC and would like to tell more of her story. But it's such a personal project that gets me deep in my feels, so it can be hard to work on.

What are your writing strengths? If the comments are to be believed, I'm somewhat funny? I do think I can turn a decent phrase from time to time, too.

What are your writing weaknesses? I used to write in past tense and, back then, I think I was pretty good at action, but now that I'm in present tense, I don't think that's true anymore. I struggle with it not reading staccato (he did this, then he did that, then this happened), so I actually tend to avoid it.

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? I tried it once with that crossover mentioned above, but did it phonetically because I wanted the readers to have a sense of how it sounded instead of just looking at words in a language they didn't speak. I don't think I would do it again aside from a word here or there as needed.

First fandom you wrote for? Highlander: The Series

Favorite fic you’ve written? I have a very soft spot for the second HL fic I wrote, which is probably still online somewhere, but I'm not going to try to link to it because it's under my real name (because that's how we rolled in 1997). Here and now, under the cover of usernames, it's probably A Brighter Star than You.

I have only seen the new Spiderman (literally 2 days ago) so I guess that! I think it was pretty good, but tbh I liked the first one more.

Pokemon or bird themed t-shirt paired with shorts or my high school gym trackies if it's cold. I have one green overcoat that I wear pretty much any time I need a jacket, it is very versatile in what weather it can be worn in.

Probably my favourite things that I've posted this year was Dawn and well. haha. (nuts) because they were both very self-indulgent in a way that I always enjoy writing with codywan, though for very very different reasons.

What’s something you’d like to create content for?

I want to write more Aloy femslash!! I've written so much for her, but none really with the characters from the new game, and now with a canon femslash kiss under her belt, I think she deserves to be a wlw icon. Next year for femslash February I'm thinking of trying to organise a Horizon event to get some momentum not just for me but for others to create too

What’s something you were excited about that turned out to be disappointing this year?

I can maybe half say the Horizon: Forbidden West DLC - I liked the overarching plot well enough, and they gave Aloy a lesbian kiss so I'm not too mad, but it carried over almost all of the issues from production that the base game had, which I was keen to see fixed in the DLC. That and the lack of backstory for Seyka or the Quen, the lack of side quests and the lack of interesting stuff to do in the wilds of the DLC made it a bit of a mediocre experience for me (though after HFW I wasn't expecting anything too good anyway).

What’s a hidden talent of yours?

Not sure if it's hidden, but I'm particularly good at spotting double spaces in a document. Pisses me off (it's my editor brain going haywire... my team is always making fun of me for this at work lmao)

What made you ship it?

This was one of those that I kind of slowly warmed up to through sheer prevalence. Like I wasn't excessively interested in it but it is just kind of everywhere and I didn't DISLIKE it and that was my gateway into actively shipping it. Also there's a moment towards the end of TCW where Cody is like vibrating with the urge to get out into the fight and Obi-Wan very indulgently is like 'yeah okay u can go kick their ass' and I thought it was cute as hell.

What are your favorite things about the ship?

Cody is quite literally the most regular clone to ever clone, like he is the picture of A Guy from a whole army of people that were made to be expendable and interchangeable and Obi-Wan saw this man and fell desperately in love and thinks he's fantastic. Because he is. Just the thought of a well regarded Jedi full on Will-Smith-posing at his local clone that many people wouldn't look twice at is wonderful to me.

Also there's the navigating of their status difference, which I think always deserves more focus - falling in love was easy, being in a relationship when one of them is legally Republic property is not. There's a lot of things that need to be worked out there and I do love a negotiation of boundaries.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

Probably that it's an age gap ship. I've posted about it before but people really do seem to treat them as like... the same age, probably because there's also that canon power differential. Which, honestly, also kind of gets smoothed over sometimes even though it's a Big one.

Obi-Wan is 35 years old at the start of TCW and Cody is Anakin's age (biologically anyway) - he's a young man! He's only the equivalent of 20 with 10 years of actual experience! Trying to make him the 40 year old of the group is kind of an injustice to the reality he's living. When combined with a lot of Codywan focusing on Obi-Wan and his feelings it sometimes ends up with a kind of off-putting sense that Cody is just being used as the Perfect Ready-Made Boyfriend for Obi-Wan rather than being treated as a character in his own right. (Which is not uncommon in shipping but feels weird when clones are already dehumanized in canon)

Anyway, let their dynamic deal with those complexities it's what makes it fascinating.

AO3 bios are such an underused space, but they could be very useful!

Since Beattie confirmed that Cody had his inhibitor chip removed, Lucasfilm could possibly even include him in Andor and feature the Clone as a part of the rise of the Rebel Alliance. However, since the character is so closely tied to Obi-Wan, it is unlikely that he will make an appearance before the pair are seen together in some capacity.

29 but a lot of them are just oneshots around 1 000 words.

2. What's your A03 word count?

206,827! I had no idea it was this much tbh, last time I checked I had like 150k, lol. I'm actually proud of this achievement, especially since it hasn't even been a year since I started writing fan fics.

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Star Wars, usually Clone Wars but I write so many weird AUs that it doesn't even matter.

4. What are your top five fics by kudos?

I have no idea, I usually write happy endings or more like the fics that are supposed to have angsty endings are the ones I haven't finished yet. For now it's probably my fill for day 5 of CodyWan Week 2024 but it's not really the ending that's angsty, it's the stuff that happens before that...

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I don't know, I have a lot of happy endings but I'm going to mention A Lifetime Supply Of Homemade Meals And Knit Sweaters For The Coruscant Guard which is one off my fills for CorrieWeek 2024 and I really wish this thing got more attention so this ending is happier than the other ones because I said so :).

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Not really, I only received one hate comment in my entire "career" and it was some hater who got banned before I even read that comment for commenting hate on many works so that wasn't directed at me. I'm glad that everyone I've met are polite.

9. Do you write smut? If so what kind?

No. I have no iterest in reading nor writing smut. Also my mom reads my works.

10. Do you write cross overs? What's the craziest one you've written?

I don't really like crossovers, they tend to get confusing and I like it when everything makes sense. Hope that makes sense.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

No and I search my more popular works in the browser just to be sure from time to time since I've heard horror stories of fics being sold on Amazon and stuff.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

No. I was playing with the thought of translating my works into my native language but decided against it since it probably wouldn't get much attention anyway and, more importantly, Star Wars in my native language sounds incredibly cringe. Like I'm sorry, I love my language, ok, but translated Star Wars is terrible.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

No but I would love to.

14. What's your all time favorite ship?

Uh... hard to tell. Probably CodyWan or Foxiyo. I also love SabEzra but I've never written anything from the Rebels era.

15. What's a WIP you'd like to finish but doubt you ever wilI?

That Was Not Supposed to Happen. This is my... second? fan fiction ever and I still love the idea but I haven't written it in so long and the parts that I've written already would need A LOT of editing.

So... I'm not sure what exactly this question means...

If it's about how I write, I have this huge almost super power I would say because I literally go, sit down and write. I can even skip the step of sitting down. I never realized how much people usually struggled with getting into the writing mode and stuff until I got Tumblr. Like sure, sometimes I get a block but I usually really just decide I want to write and then just write.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

I want to write about topics I know nothing about. I write about stuff I know nothing about. Like I write about children but really, it's just my imagination of how a little child would act. Or for example any social workers reading my Cody Learns to Love Verse would probably be surprised at how the galactic social services work. Because I just made everything up.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

Actually, I use the fictional language of mandalorians - mando'a - in dialogues quite a lot since I headcanon that the clones speak it and I also love mandalorian culture. I don't think I would use any real life languages in fan fiction but if I was writing an original work, I would sure include some of my native language and also some Spanish because I love Spanish.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Star Wars. I still write for Star Wars. I don't think I'll ever write for anything else in the near future because there is still a lot of Star Wars stuff I haven't explored yet and my obsession isn't fully satisfied. I want to read Jango Fett: Open Season in the near future so probably expect some traumatized baby Jango.

20. Favorite fic you've ever written?

A hard question but probably Cody Learns to Love since I'm still proud of finishing a fic with over 100k words.

1. Oh, dear. Procreate on this second hand pad I bought specifically for it and sketchbook (the app) on my phone. It's a Samsung note, so I have a digital pen. My screen is pretty scratched.

2. Not sure. Some have more kudos then others but they have been posted longer. Just like that, without checking, I would say my latest cadet!Cody and cadet!Rex, as well as my codywan "would you still love me if I was a worm?"

3. Definitively not my most popular! 🤣

I love two pieces I did for codywankiss2023, the one that is all red/pink, and the one under the stars at night.

I am mighty proud of my Mace in armor.

I have also done a fanart for Prince with a thousands Ennemies by independant_variables, which doesn't get much love but is dear and close to my heart.

And I looove my Fox & Haunted Couch. It's funny (to me) and I'm really proud of how the flammes came out!

4. Eh. The one that don't have much kudos on my ao3, maybe? People don't leave much kudos there because I'm not A Big Name, and when they do, it's often on the same pieces.

I'm unsure if it's because the viewer lost interest and thus the will to go through all my fanarts (admitedly, nearly a hundred of them) or if they genuinely don't like the other things.

I have things I often do and sometimes I Try Things Out. But I'm not sure I have a style or that it's specific enough to be named. Doesn't bother me.

7. What's all this? 🤣 Some things are *easy* for you???? Good for you but I don't have that experience 🤣🤣🤣

Sometimes, I have an easy time and other, not at all. Skills just won't come. The drawing drag on. Nothing come out right or quick. It's horrible and I want to throw my pad out of the window. Others, everything flow and it's magical and I wonder afterwards what made it happen this way. Haven't been able to reproduce the magical effect voluntarily 🤷‍♀️

8. Anatomy with weird perspectives. Sometimes, I have An Idea in my head and I want to make That One and then, when I get to it, I realise it's super hard T_T

9. Cody, sun and skies. For no reason, I'm sure 😉🌞💖💛🧡

If you mean ideas block, that has litteraly never happened. I have so many projects waiting for me, I could quit my job and devote myself to fanarts entirely and not run out for years.

I have an idea in my head, I look for references pictures for the people in it (perspectives T_T), I do a first line art with the references pictures' opacity at 50%, I hide them, I adjust that line art opacity to 50%, draw a second one over it because the first never looks right (either they don't look like the character's actual face or the body type is shorter, stockier, ect, the arm looks Super Weird), repeat the process as much as necessary for it to looks okay, fill under on a new layer the flat colors, fill over the flat colors but under the line art on a new layer the lights, same with shadows on another layer, correct and do over and over and over and over... until I'm happy with how it looks or don't think I can do better.

Do the same with background if there is any.

That's it!

13. I like my WIP for jedi june. Yes, we're in november.

Also, another one that looks wonky but it's an idea I had for a long time so I'm happy to be working on it.

14. It can be very relaxing. I love when it come out pretty, even if it's in a way I didn't intended. I love making my ideas come to life. And I love how happy authors have been when I have made fanarts for their fics.

15. When it's not working 🤣 The frustration... I have genuinely screamed and cried.

16. "Drawing regularly keep your skills sharp." It's like working out. If you miss some sessions, it's crazy how fast the skills rust.

And "Keep going before the creativity run out". Sometimes, I just Do Not have the flow. It's like someone cut off the water. I don't know how to explain it. So, when the flow is there, I try to make the most of it.

17. Uh... It looks ok? Most of the time? And it's made with love. Some fanarts from other people don't look good but you can tell it was made with enormous amount of love or that the person was having fun or it's telling a story, or it's moving... I love that. I love those arts. There's plenty that's worthwhile other than "correct" look.

18. Boy... everything? It's a work in never ending progress. I look at art that blow my mind, think about what caught my eyes and try to work on that but it varies from time to time. Anatomy and perspective can always use work.

19. Star Wars. The Clone Wars. Pictures I have seen in museums, exhibitions, magazines, online, pinterest, series, movies... Life around me. Memories. Lot of things.

29. Yes!!!!!! A lot! And even afterwards, I redo the line art a lot. Like, a lot. It's all very time consuming. People who do amazing stuff in less than one hour have my absolute respect.

30. Nothing? I'm not proud of my art. I get happy when it come out well or better than I expected. I get happy when I'm done with a piece that took me a long time. Sometimes there is pride in that, but I'm not what you would call proud of my artstyle.

I hated it for the longest time actually, and it took me until I was well into my 30s to make my peace with it. My style is not the type of style I prefer or admire.

I am happy to contribute to the fandom and makes my ideas come to life, happy to create, but pride? No.

31. Star Wars. Definitively.

32. Next to none. Not out of distaste for the idea. I just don't know a lot of fandom person and events' deadlines stress me out.

33. I don't think so? One class during 6 months, then a year of art school before I quit because I am not so talented I can compete with what's on the market. Other than that, completely self-taught.

Thoughts on some of the more popular M/M in star wars? And your favorite?(example: dinluke, Finpoe, rexwalker, codywan?)

In general I like them all (tbh, less so with dinluke but I'll expand on that below).

Since I follow a lot of clone-centric blogs, I don't see as many M/M Star Wars pairings come across my dash as I do with other pairings. I do like finpoe, and I like the Finn/Poe/Rey triad (an OT3 for me), but I didn't really like the sequels, so I don't follow many blogs that post sequel content. I love seeing it when it makes its way across my dash, though.

For dinluke, I was never really all that hot on it, tbh. Maybe it was the limited contact (which honestly doesn't really matter much when we make our own fanon), but I've always been a bit partial to Luke/Lando, or Luke/Han (or if we're feeling really spicy, Luke/Han/Leia -with Luke & Leia being involved with Han but not with each other, of course). Another nail for dinluke was Luke sending Grogu back to Din with R2. We all know that R2 was perfectly capable, of course, but Luke not going back just rubbed me wrong. It could be the premise of a dinluke fic though. Luke doesn't go because he can't bear to see Din, and fears he'll run away to be with him too. Or something like that. Anyway, I can't really ship anyone with Din who wouldn't personally ensure that Grogu made it back to him safely.

Regarding Din, I kind of ship him with everybody that was ready to ready to die for our little green baby or willing to fight side by side with him. So that includes nearly everyone he comes in contact with. Bobadin and dincobb are both pretty popular, bit honestly I like all of them (I even ship him a little bit with Cara Dune). I think I could happily put him at the center of his own harem.

As a clone-centric blog you'd think I would see rexwalker fairly often, but it rarely comes across my dash. I don't have any issue with it, and I think there could be some fun scenarios there, but I don't really see much Anakin shipping coming through either. I wonder if that has to do with how central to the prequels his love for Padme is? In any case, not one I particularly search out, but if the right bit of art or fic comes across my dash I'm smashing the reblog button.

Codywan is probably my favorite, and it seems to be pretty popular with a lot of other people too. I think I like it because it's pretty obviously doomed, so to see art and fics where everything's OK is great (or conversely, when everything is ripping your heart out and you just want them to be happy, but Cody's over here still hunting Obi-Wan down even though it's been 10 years). Anyway, I love Obi-Wan much more than I actually post here. His story is packed full of loss, and he just continues on doing what he believes he has to do. He is steady and solid during the worst parts of his life, and he never waivers. It pays off in the end.

On Cody's part, he is a strong and capable leader who loves his men and is dedicated to serving the Republic. We have seen his kindness and compassion in canon, and we know that he has morals and convictions he won't compromise in the name of service. Unfortunately when it comes to the Clones, canon limits us in regard to Canon/Canon ships. Most clones don't interact with non-clones that aren't either their Jedi general, another Jedi general, a padawan, or a senator. There's also a power imbalance issue, and I think that limits a lot of people in shipping clones with most other canon characters as well.

What I would love to see more (personally) in codywan shipping is Cody being the one to comfort Obi-Wan, or sometimes more "neutral" balances (Cody being the big spoon, or standing over Obi-Wan).

Regarding clone power imbalances, I've seen a lot of different discussions on it by a lot of different people. It's a complicated subject in shipping (heck, any shipping that includes clones has a lot of things to consider that are conplicated). For my part, I chose to recognize canon in that the clones are quite limited in what they're permitted to do, places they're permitted to go, ect, but when they have that bit of freedom (not enough, tbh), they have the free will to make the choices they want, and that would include chosing a partner that puts them in a power imbalanced relationship.

For any other M/M ship in Star Wars (including rarepairs and other less popular ships), I'm live and let live. I may or may not like it, but I would scroll on by if I didn't like it.

So I'm weak, and I love Cody so much, and he and Obi-Wan are so cute together that I cannot resist, so there will be codywan in the modern au. And I'm not sorry.

Jango is a police officer, that's why Cody and Rex become polices. Dex is one of Jango's informant. And yes, since Cody was a child he helped Jango with the police reports. He was (and still is) really good on that.

Anyway Rex is a great brother, he deserves a trophy for waiting so many years for his brother wedding. And Cody, he deserves a trophy too, because he has been waiting for his wedding since he was 10.

The funny things is that every Fett sibling used to joke about Cody's crush (he saw Obi-Wan in Dex some times and then they stop seeing each other when Obi-Wan started college) and the Fett thought, well is finally over, Cody has overcome his teenager crush. Until 1999, when Obi-Wan and Cody finally reunite and meet as adults and started having real conversations because the Skywalker has moved to the same building as the Fett. And then, then was the moment when the Fett knew that wasn't just some crush, no, Cody was totally in love with the posch guy. And somehow that was even worse.
