i'm thinking thinking thinking of tying the gloomstalker/assassin build into astarion's characterisation here; since his rogue and charlatan background stems primarily from his years in enslavement to cazador - having to deceive marks, stalk the shadows, likely lockpicking and trespassing (although for non-residential places only, since, vampire). his skills as an archer/ranger now could also be influenced by his life pre-vampirism. thinking about his parentage but also his being an elf and having natural inclinations for magic and bow/swordsmanship. his father teaching him how to use a bow and arrow as a child to hunt for skins to create leather/furs (since i headcanon his father as having been a tailor), his mother connecting him with nature and magic, as a lover of art. the assassin aspect i think could naturally come about after being tadpoled and thrust into this whirlwind adventure, since they're constantly fighting and killing and fighting some more and he enjoys stabbing. whereas before, he wasn't really required to kill people, just entice them back to cazador. SO ANYWAY if i throw all of that into a mixing pot, i just like that even after 200 years of being forced to become someone else, there are still traces of his former self and his family within him, even though he, himself, doesn't remember them
#𝒾𝒾. the pale elf ᅳ a study.#anyway this is a jumble of thoughts#that i'm running with and will likely expand/alter#as i continue to do more research but some of it is coming#off of my other headcanons so 😇#he's still a good little thief though never forget#and as a gloomstalker he's still heavily based in the shadows#so it's easy to tie into his character#and i always prefer assassin rogue for him as just a personal preference in game#so why not enforce it here#i'll take input from any experts out there though#since i'm still relatively new to bg3/dnd

so idk something that kind of bothers the "we must save men from the alt right pipeline" because "we're hating for their immutable traits"
why
why specifically are men the ones who we need to always do this for.
I think it would sound ridic to say this about terfs. Terfs are turning to terfism because they don't feel welcome, we need to be gentler and more loving and more of a community and they'll see the light. Terfs as a class are so oppressed by an unloving society :(
Or hey imagine saying this about white women. You don't have to imagine it it's been done and its bad. I think we've all agreed that posting a manifesto on how white women should be treated nicer by POC and its leftism's job to save white women from going conservative always sucks.
So why is it up to women now. Why is it up to us.
I agree leftism needs to be a more welcoming place that doesn't crucify people for mistakes, or react with hostility to questions. I personally want that. But it's weird to frame this as something we need to do for (mostly white) men specifically, but like, not like conservative white women, conservative woc, conservative trans women??? There's a lot out there.
I dunno. it rubs me to frame the message of this. I don't want to actively go around saving white men and boys from themselves/other white men, I've been asked to do that all my life.
I don't think we should be hostile, I'm not a person that would ever say kill all men (tbh even ignoring the fact there are marginalized men...language like that in general...kill all (enemy) has always been uncomfortable for me. Some people can change) I don't react to them with hostility, you know, men are just fine as long as they're fine with me. I'm happy to have them as allies, happy to get behind trans men, gay men, men of color when they need help.
But I do know some women just give a dni because they're traumatized. And idk, maybe they deserve to be treated gently. Maybe everyone does.
I think leftists need to be kinder and more welcoming sure. I think we need to focus on change and banding together But framing the convo around saving men. That men are special and alienated and we're specifically failing them somehow. It doesn't sit well.
I do thing putting stuff into a binary of good or evil and just kind of reinventing conservatism in that way is a huge probem,...I don't know...Can't we just be nicer and in-fight less for the sake of being welcoming in general? For everyone? Can't we come together and be more accepting of people because a community is stronger together? Can't we have unity and nuance because of that?
I don't want to do it to save men from their own decisions, I don't feel inclined to engage with hostile guys, I just want to be nice and open and we all have less of a feeling people might turn against you over any little thing.
#the idea that i need to help men be proud of being men bc we don't do that...dude since when#anyway these are jumbled thoughts i'll probably delete#since people will definitely jump all over me too#i guess there's this like. why would i not get people wanting to save me if i went alt right. you know.#why wouldn't there be a manifesto then. hm.#leftism#feminism

I still think I need to watch the entire show again, but I'm gonna try and collect some very scattered thoughts because the ~discourse is appalling, tbh.
Idk who needs to hear this, but every single marvel project has been about the widening of the marvel cinematic universe. And it's fucking insane, that people are reducing this show as "just a way to get Wiccan" when it was so much more, especially for a show that wasn't even supposed to exist. It was a show spearheaded by a showrunner who initially pitched it because she loved Agatha, and Kathryn's portrayal of Agatha. One that happens to be a woman, btw (one that happens to had been at the forefront of both Captain Marvel [Uncredited] and been responsible for the first past of Black Widow [Story by, credits]).
Don't get me wrong, the MCU certainly has misogynistic undertones, the fact that we had to wait to have a woman led movie, or a movie director, as long as we did is a travesty. That without even going into the intersectionality that we are still missing in the wider MCU. And one that's inherent in the comic book world, if we are being honest. But guess what, THIS is the type of show that changes that narrative.
The fact that wandavision is still regarded the best Marvel-Disney+ show. So good that got an spin off focused on "a nanny". Show that delivered on a show being about her, and yet not the entire story, with outstanding narrative, direction and storytelling. And some swats of fandom are diminishing it left and right. The dudebros because it was about a woman, about a middle-aged woman, about a queer middle-aged woman. And others in the fandom because it wasn't as queer as they wanted, or focused on what they wanted.
And let's be honest, I'm amazed the show was as unapologetically and canonically queer as it was. Thanks to the efforts of Jac, Kathryn and the team behind it.
Agatha is based on a character that's been around for 50 years, and has being nothing but a nanny/governess for superpowered kids because she happens to be a witch, until relatively recently. Even when we had had part of her back story for decades, she was never that important, and she isn't even evil. Dare I say, she hasn't been that relevant until her run with the Scarlet Witch, and Kathryn Hanh's interpretation of her.
Agatha All Along, is not only an spin off of Wandavision, but also part 2 of the whole story. OF COURSE, Billy would be a very important part of her story, something that was touched upon in WV, but was also part of her (and I'm using this word very loosely) redemption arc.
She shared a kinship with Billy in WV, because he was magick. She wanted to understand how he worked, because she knew what Wanda did, and she wanted Wanda's powers. The fact that she could identify Billy immediately, even when she hoped it was Nicky, was important, but people were to busy whining about Billy having an episode. One episode that was also relevant to the ending of the show. And the full arc of the saga's mythology.
Is the show perfect? Not at all. Did I enjoy the heck out of it and can appreciate what it actually did? Absolutely yes. Can I appreciate how GOOD it was at storytelling? Hell yes.
It was a show absolutely centered in women. Good women, bad women, women of color, old women, younger women. The one man was a queer, three-year old in the body of a 16 year old. And mind you, this character has been making queer history, since his very recent creation (2005). This show is unapologetically queer, we had a huge ass Trans flag that said Protect trans kid in huge black letters being very prominent in the shots. It's HUGE, and not even by marvel/disney standards. The show had nothing to do with coming out, or acceptance, or people dealing with phobia. It was about queer people existing and being queer. Hell, you could make a case that they were saying "being a witch" is an allegory of being queer.
Every single member of the coven could be queer. They hinted at it with Jen, at the very least.
Let's talk about the rest of the coven. Who for me were the absolute highlight of the show.
Alice, generational trauma, the protection witch. The most tragic to me. She saw her curse, as a lie. As something her mother made to neglect her. And yet she couldn't keep a job, she resented her mother, and she had to be reminded of her every moment because her mom was a famous Rockstar. She goes to the road, she comes to terms with her mom's love for her, how her mom's version of the ballad was a protection spell, as much as Alice hated it, and she manages to defeat her curse. She protects her coven. Only to immediately die. Her dialogue with Death was devastating:
Alice: That's it? That's all the... That's all the time I get? Death: If I had a nickel... Alice: This can't be the end. It has to be the beginning. I finally broke the curse. I mean, I can really do something with my life now. Death: You're a Protection Witch. Alice: Yeah. Death: You died protecting someone. You ready? Alice: No.
Heart wrenching, unjust, and beautiful.
Lilia, who was plagued by the gift/curse of seeing her and others destiny. Ignoring it for over half her life, staying stagnant, because she was reeling from the fact that she saw the death of her family, her entire coven, she told them and it changed nothing. She was chased out of villages because she could see the tragedies coming. Who refused to be with a coven, love a coven because the heartbreak of losing her first was too much. Who decided that cheap tricks, was better than seeing the tragedies coming, and refused her gifts. She hated the appropriation of her culture, but when the time came, she accepted it, and moved on. She goes to the road, and finds her coven. "I needed you, my coven." And she died, going back to the start, because she'd rather relieve it all again, the good, the bad and the ugly, that keep neglenting herself. "I loved being a witch".
That without going into the absolute masterpiece that was episode 7. Pulling a non-linear story, as solidly as they did, is certainly not easy. And they did it, beautifully.
Jennifer, who was magick-bound for over a century, to the point that she doubted her knowledge and herself. And yet she made a name for herself, she was a successful entrepreneur (she cheated a little, but you know capitalism is the true villain here). A black woman who was outstanding at her craft, healing and being a midwife, to the point that she became an inconvenience to the fragile, egomaniacal, white men in the medical field. Where they sought out a way to stop her indefinitely. And yet she kept going, and survived. Even at the end of the road. She looked at the person who bound her, and said: "I deny your power over me. You hold nothing." And she unbounded herself, and got out. Not because of Billy or even Agatha but in spite of her. Jennifer survived, just like she has been doing for however many centuries, and she flew towards the sunset. Because 'She's the path ahead'. The growth she had, from being selfish the first few episodes, because that's how she survived, to screaming for Lilia when she decided to stay behind. Jennifer clawed her way out of the road, the bound. And she deserved it.
As for Billy... he's so much like her mother. He accidentally created the road, because he's equally, if not more, unaware of his powers as Wanda. Wanda at least thought she got powers from Hydra's experimentation. Billy isn't even supposed to exist. Billy who was "10 years old" but, realistically like 2 weeks old. Who got thrown into the body of this guy, who he doesn't know, and who doesn't even knows himself, because he doesn't remembers, with powers he doesn't quite understands and then he starts piercing moments of his life together, because he feels this massive hole in his being. And finds his answers on Agatha. He truly believes the road is real, that can take him to someone who while not have the answers, might feel the same way as him. Who was his other half, he doesn't remembers it, but he feels it.
His magick, is like Wanda's, Chaos magick, it manifests without his real knowledge or intention, but by his feelings. He created the road, with all the knowledge he thought he had, the road follows the rules Agatha and Nicky created when they made the ballad. Even if he doesn't know it.
Is the show about Billy? Not necessarily. Billy is important to Agatha, because Billy is Agatha's son now. Not by blood, not even by magic, but by choice. As much as she denies it, her "calculated risk", had something to do in the way she saw Billy, and how she wanted to protect him, in a way she couldn't protect Nicky.
And finally, Agatha. Agatha who built a reputation of killing all her covens. Starting with her mother's. Because her mother sentenced her to death, because she was born evil. And she took that and ran with it. She connived, and betrayed, but she survived, something she's extremely proud of. Do I wish we had seen more of her past? 100%. I wanted to know how she got the Darkhold, how she actually met Rio, how they fell in love. Does not really knowing diminish her storyline? Not at all. Because what we got was really nuanced, and it's going down the hill with people focusing only in the romantic relationship aspect. If anything, I think this is being reductive of Agatha, not Billy. The fact that she needs the love interest for people to focus on her, regardless if that love interest is a man or a woman.
But even then, what did people think it would happen? Agatha Harkness had a romantic relationship with Death itself. It was never going to be a romance, it was always a tragedy. Death who took her son away, Death who gave her time with her son, but never specify how much time. Who then followed her around, torturing her with its presence, and we know Agatha is resentful and can hold a grudge.
Death who kindly stopped for her.
Rio knew Agatha would always resent her, even when she gave Nicky more time, because at the end of the day, she would always had to take him away. As much as it was a kindness to let him be born, to take him while he and Agatha were asleep. She had to take him anyways, and Agatha would never forgive her.
Agatha letting the witchfolk think that she exchanged her son for the Darkhold, or made a deal with Mephisto, and saying it was because "the truth was much worse" had nothing to do with *our* perception of worse. But hers. A powerful witch who couldn't save her son, a woman who couldn't keep her son alive. A witch who let her lover take her son away. Using her son to lure more witches. Then using the song, that her son lovingly created for themselves, to lure even more witches to their doom, just for her to be more powerful and keep living (and potentially still looking relatively young). A song that was special to them, corrupted, because she wanted more power and killing witches, something she knew Nicky didn't like. Witchfolk thinking Agatha got the Darkhold trading her son, was better than what she thought of herself.
She saw Nicky in Billy, how he didn't like killing witches (as accidentally as Billy did), how he mourned, how he somehow still believed in Agatha, even with his barbs at her.
She sacrificed herself, not necessarily because of Billy. But because of Nicky, her boy she couldn't save. And yet here is another boy she loved, not the same but very similarly, one she could save.
Billy didn't manipulate her, (and even if he were to, Agatha would probably be proud of him for that) he's been consistent in wanting to understand Agatha. He's curious. Hell, he didn't even need to come back for Agatha, he had gotten out (wherever out was for him) but he came back, because he cared about Agatha. And if some people can't see that, because he happens to be a he... well, no matter what had happened in the show, those people wouldn't see it any other way.
Agatha becoming a ghost, and immediately seeking Billy, because she loves him, and she likes the way he sees her, not good or innocent, but knowledgeable, and with the potential to do good. And she sees Nicky in him, and his potential too.
There is so much more analysis, and I might share more thoughts later, but for now, this is it. I still wanted more, Agatha's story with the Darkhold, the Salem seven, more of the coven, yet not necessarily for the show or the episodes to be longer, but I would love to see if they expand on this, on another spinoff.

I learned that Dark Sun isn’t a part of the Bean Eclipse Au…..but that made me wonder how the others would’ve reacted when Eclipse got broken by Dark Sun?
Like the weird malfunction chip thing. (I don’t know how to explain it sorry. :[)
Well consisdering this au was WAYYY before eclipse v3/4 came by. (I know what you meant by the chip thing) I dont know how we'd get there. But heres to thinking of the hypothetical scenerio
Solar Flare would notice first. And by notice first I mean, after Eclipse is deliberately hiding it. (He still struggles to let people know when somethings wrong.) Confronted I do think Eclipse would let Solar Flare help find what it is. Without much luck- Eclipse getting more sluggish and struggling to move about gets more obvious. KC having to find out that way instead of being told (Something Solar Flare told Eclipse NOT to do-), pisses him off but that's not something he wants to focus on. Just asking Eclipse what happened- And hearing about a Dark Sun? KC's furious on Eclipse messing with the portal but determined to get Moon AND Monty to check his systems. They don't find anything at first. Considering they don't know what it is they're suppose to look for (what's out of place- But as we see in the episode it might not be what's added thats off but whats transmitting instead)
The slower and more ragged he gets, all the coughing is just distressing everyone. All except Bloodmoon. Who hasn't let up on his own bullying. Lunar even tries to ignore it but its hard to ignore that when you see him all the time. Opting to get between Bloodmoon and Eclipse more. KC being a stressed parent with a sick kid, is trying to find this Dark Sun, is lashing out or trying not to. Almost fruitless- Moon and Sun are on edge really, they may have mixed emotions on Eclipse however they're trying to help, Sun opting to hold Eclipse more (which makes eclipse mad but mans tired). Hell even moons proximity isn't getting Moon swiped at by Eclipse. Bloodmoon doesn't change his behavior, still kicking when Eclipse is down. Obviously this leads to everyone getting frustrated at him. Bloodmoon backs down for now but like- clearly isnt regretting it. Its only until KC snaps at Bloodmoon that its clear Bloodmoon backs off. Very quietly too. KC just has to sit with that for a moment. (he goes crush somethings, meditate for a while-) Lets see here, if this is resolved and the source found- Or maybe even just stops. Eclipse is alleviated. Everyone breaths a sigh of relief. They're still checking Eclipses' systems that they realize they overlooked something. Its only when its gone they realize what it couldve been but since its stopped they cant trace it. Bloodmoon does come back, he doesnt apologize to Eclipse, KC however takes bloodmoon away to properly talk. It doesnt go so well-
Eclipse isn't liking the fact Bloodmoon was just acting as himself but not surprised hell not even expected much else. Lunar... lunar did expect better. He's disappointed but- hey thigns are fine now. They can handle this KC can handle this- Solar Flare meanwhile finds Bloodmoon scratching at walls- and at himself. KC comes back, asked how Bloodmoon is. KC doesnt respond on that. Asks Eclipse how hes feeling. And what that Dark Sun had said. Solar Flare comes back arm torn off, asking what had happened to bloodmoon. This is getting rather long actually hmn. Anyway to the point, Eclipse gets chipped- handles it badly, Bloodmoon's own shenanigans lands him in hot water not just with KC but with Dark Sun. Which would get mostly everyone involved, Eclipse would get mad at Bloodmoon for even going near that guy but Dark Sun wouldve approached Bloodmoon. Which still would set off Eclipse cause thats Red Flags AND SOMEONE WASNT THINKIGN ABOUT THAT. Uh I dont know how this ends, Dark Sun's pretty smart enough but with the Bean AU its a bit more hmn, no one has died- uh again? For him to get Moon spiraling. He would use Bloodmoon given Bloodmoons more prone to just instigating stuff. He was probably hoping for Bloodmoon to kill someone by now actually. However KC;s convo with Bloodmoon, Eclipse in general and Solar Flare would be the ones to keep from everyone completely disowning Bloodmoon from attacking Solar Flare and general disregard to Eclipses health.
#Dark Sun's plans wouldnt go the best way here but would still jumble everyone up.#bean eclipse au#anyway me sitting here like well this longer than i thought but thats with like- mostly just kc's kids- Sun i could go into and even moon#Earth herself would be a subject to bUT ANYWAY#since we have maybe a half to dark suns plans int he show rn its just about to there#anyway the short of it everyone would be concerned but bloodmoon but thats a different topic

Genesis's childhood award, the basis of pasteurization, and the supposed fragility of Banora Whites.
A take on it from a farm kid that actually specializes in growing apples.
Was talking with a good friend of mine last night about various takes in the fandom last night and was reminded of one I had seen semi-recently about Genesis's childhood genius in supposedly inventing pasteurization.
I want to believe this is a take that comes from being uninformed as to what pasteurization actually is, considering him being the first to invent it around the time of 1990 would show a stunning lack of technological advancements in the world of FF7. Let me explain.
Shinra has had a lot of technological advancements, and we can see those constantly portrayed clear as day throughout the world of FF7. However even in the time before Shinra, during the time of the Republic of Junon, it can also be assumed that they would have pasteurization, a process that in the real world was invented in the 1800s. Exploration of the world in Rebirth also reveals multiple areas that have shipment docks from the time of the Republic. This would include the assumption that this is how people both traveled as well as transported and exchanged goods.
Pasteurization is an incredibly important technological advancement as it's allowed for the easier shipment and trade of food on a global level. The definition can be found below.
In food processing, pasteurization is a process of food preservation in which packaged and unpacked foods (e.g., milk and fruit juices) are treated with mild heat, usually to less than 100 °C (212 °F), to eliminate pathogens and extend shelf life. Pasteurization either destroys or deactivates microorganisms and enzymes that contribute to food spoilage or the risk of disease, … (continued on Wikipedia)
There are different methods such as Low-temperature long time (LTLT), High temperature/short time (HTST) and Ultrahigh temperature (UHT) (also called Ultraheat treated) however that isn't super important to this, just know that HTST is the standard for apple juice.
The point in this being that if Genesis were to have invented pasteurization ~1990, the rest of the world would have been taking incredibly risky measures in transporting food and risking spoiling for decades, as well as various things being unsafe for consumption such as milk. With the advancements the world already had by this time such as phones, war artillery, windmills, and mako reactors, I find it highly unlikely that he would've been the one to invent pasteurization.
I feel as though it is important to mention that Genesis's award was first place in the National Agriculture Awards, but more specifically, an award in the processed food category. The processed category in these awards directly gives it away in the fact that food was already processed enough to have its own category for awards. Presentation on this is in relation to the presentation of a processed product, and not a form of processing itself. In the assumption that these reflect actual reward categories, there are different categories for scientific invention as well as processing systems.
Reference page for the names/categories presented. This is not the description document.
Agricultural Proficiency Award Area Descriptions.
Although there is the argument that they likely didn't use this same style categorizing, its important to note that they did use categories within the national agricultural awards, and they specifically made the choice of processed food, instead of any of the other choices. If he really made such an important invention, why wouldn't it be stated anywhere as clearly being pasteurization, something that would revolutionize the world, or for that matter why wouldn't it be awarded in the name of development of food science?
I believe its also worth mentioning that the Crisis Core Complete Guide says "Because the fruit can only be harvested in this region, it sells for a high price on the market, but the village children don't seem to know this, …" This would be due to the fact that the Banora Whites are common-place in Banora. In a similar way to how wagyu in Japan is significantly cheaper than it is in the United States, due to export; Genesis would have an easier and cheaper time attempting experimentation methods, if there even needs to be any variation for them, resulting in juice with correct pasteurization due to his being local to Banora. (Market price on them in Banora would be naturally lower due to supply likely being higher than demand, as well as not having to worry about import and export fees. Not to mention being the place where it is naturally grown).
*In the above example I used wagyu as a comparison, however this could just as easily be any other exported food that becomes considered rare when exported, another example which is actually more rare would be the black diamond apple.
While mentioning this, I also want to say that his invention is specifically upon Banora White Juice, not apple juice in its entirety of existence. In similarity to pasteurization, this feels like an over-exaggeration of what Genesis actually accomplished.
While branching through this topic, I also want to bring attention to a take I was sent a while back on the supposed fragility of Banora Whites. While going through the Ultimanias with assistance of a friend, nothing could be found on sources hinting towards Banora Whites being fragile. My next assumption is that this conclusion was likely reached on the basis of Banora Whites being mentioned to be region exclusive, and a high-price market item.
Banora Whites are called just that because of their area of growth being only that of Banora in the Mideel region. The growth of Banora Whites is actually tied to the amount of lifestream that flows through the Banora Underground, this gives Banora a very unique type of soil that allows for the growth of Banora Whites. Since Banora is the only place where the crop grows, giving it a very limited area of growth, and since it cannot be grown globally, gives it a very high market value.
Now into the technicality of things, it could also be assumed that the sale of the Banora White was likely tied to its aesthetics, similar to the way that the pink pineapple is in the real world. The difference here being that when juiced, the pink pineapple loses most of what it has going for it in terms of its aesthetic appearance and thus reducing its marketability and price. Meanwhile, Banora whites, while although losing what would make them have a unique aesthetic appearance, could possibly have a specific flavor to them that translates into the juice.
You see, I believe Genesis's intelligence on the matter comes from not creating some life changing way of preserving things, but rather from preventing waste. Although I do not find any info on Banora Whites being fragile, it can be argued that all apples are fragile in a sense, or at least majority of them. They're truly one of those fruits where sometimes you can chuck them at a tree and only see a bruise or dent, and other times you look at them wrong and they'll split wide open.
When thinking of an apple in general, chances are fragile is not the first word that comes to mind, as many other fruits would be considered fragile long before them, and that'd be correct. However, the harvest and transportation of apples, as well as their general growth, can be littered with complications. When moving apples in a commercial wooden apple bin, when you have hundreds of them stacked together, driving faster than even 2MPH by tractor can cause shaking and damage to the fruit by rubbing damage which can create bruising.
Banora is a remote island location, and import and export of items is likely expensive, which would contribute to the income that Banora Whites would bring in (see earlier mention of wagyu and Japan vs US price) Due to being an island, the methods of exporting would have to be either by air, which would be incredibly expensive and fuel taxing, or by ocean. I mentioned earlier that FF7 Rebirth shows multiple docks and ports that would hint towards ocean being the likely way of transportation of food and people. This would require a boat to leave from down by Banora and travel all the way up the coast through the Meridian Ocean. Constant swaying of the ocean and anything unsecured likely leads to aesthetic damages which allow for even less of the Banora Whites to reach market in aesthetically acceptable shelf conditions.
Banora and in general the Mideel Region is a very coastal region that by flora alone also appears to be a very warm and tropical one. By this assumption not only would Banora Whites possibly be prone to sunburn, a reason they likely developed their darker appearance to survive, but also being internally cooked by the heat of the sun. Also being coastal could lead to strong storms brought in by the ocean leaving damage from heavy winds, pelting rain, hail, and similar damaging weather factors. Excessive rain also typically leads to apples suffering growth cracks, which also takes them off the table for being sold to market as-is.
In the assumption that the Banora Whites would survive possibly brutal conditions that are located down in that area, due to any damage caused by going across the sea, they would likely need to be packaged first while in Banora (hence the warehouse) which would also bring up the pricing on them. However, where does this leave the fruit that's been damaged? Just because it has a crack it it or an aesthetic-only scar across the skin does not mean that the fruit is ruined or inedible. This is fruit that can be used for many different things, including juicing. Juicing is a method that ignores damages that are purely aesthetic, and allows for profit where there would otherwise be none given. Genesis's invention is that of one that prevents waste, and allows for another source of income to the area.
Juicing of apples that wouldn't make it to market would keep the price of the pure solid apples that do make it to market still profitable, while also giving use to those that wouldn't be allowed onto the shelves. While its nothing groundbreaking for the world, like pasteurization would have been, it does allow for Banora to be able to sustain itself via income more, and just overall prevent the waste of more food.
Although to some its not as glamorous if he didn't do something that fundamentally changed the world as a kid, that doesn't mean that what Genesis did isn't still something that he was worth awarding for, especially as a youth. Not only did his creation prevent the waste of food, which earned him his award, but Banora White Juice also did become a famous global hit.
#ff7#ffvii#genesis rhapsodos#crisis core#ffvii crisis core#this might feel a little jumbled in some places but I just saw the pasteurization take again#so I'm just kinda saying screw it and posting it.#like idk man I don't think Genesis's accomplishments need to be overstated.#I think what he did all by just creating a way that food won't be wasted is its own admirable feat#anyways pasteurization in real world has been around since the 1800s. its kinda a key part of modern life#i think it'd be really weird if they had all this advanced technology. and then pasteurization was only 15ish years old at the time of ff7#also a very sincere thank you to my friend that helped me sort out all my thoughts on this mess#also posting this now because I can't in the morning because I will. get this. be busy picking apples.

Something something Charles giving himself the brawn label and Edwin the brains label. Something something Edwin always compliments Charles when he figures something out. Calling him a genius and emphasizes that Charles is more than just the fighter of the two. Something something these two make my brain rot.
#Sorry I'm really bad at articulating what I mean here cause my thoughts are so jumbled rn but aahhhhhhh#just something about Charles seeing himself as one thing and Edwin telling him he's not#especially when Charles is worried about becoming like his dad#like self depreciation is so easy to fall into but It's nice when someone is there to tell you that no you are more than you think#it's just so sweet ahhhhhhhhhhhh#I'm bad at explaining things#I love this show so much and I think Charles might being passing Niko as my favourite character lmao he's just so relatable#anyways#dead boy detectives#charles rowland#edwin payne#edwin paine#dead boy detective agency#dbd

Why both Eddie and Venom are autistic and how the movies are actually a metaphor for neurodivergence
Includes some of my personal headcanons and concepts that I’ve been thinking about and need to share.
BE WARNED!!! This post is a bit long (and also a cringy, rambling, nonsensical mess) full thing under cut.
Some quick notes before we begin: when I have one of their names at the beginning of a section it means anything in that section only applies to one of them. (Idk, I couldn’t figure out how to organize this, you’ll see what I mean)
I don’t know much comic lore, all of this is based off of the movies. Though the movies are a different universe so I don’t think it will matter too much.
Also I use He/They/It pronouns for Venom.
In the end, Im just one guy with a hyper fixation please take everything I say with a grain of salt and feel free to add on or correct me about stuff. Especially if I say anything stereotypical or offensive about nurodivergance/autism a lot of this is based on some personal experience and I absolutely make mistakes and generalizations.
Alright enough of my yapping let’s get to it.
Overall big picture stuff
Applies to Both of them
the whole concept of them being “losers” together is kind of autistic coded. Autistic people are often viewed as incompetent or childish or useless. And I like to think they are connecting over that shared experience.
Noise sensitivity!!! Both of them have noise sensitivity! I probably don’t need to elaborate that much but that one scene in their apartment was some of the best overstimulation representation I’ve ever seen overstimulation guitar scene
Venom
Venom comes across as unfeeling because they don’t emote in a “normal” way.
They’re very blunt and literal.
Venom sometimes has a slightly higher-pitched voice when excited or angry. Which I’m going to attribute to him masking. He wants to appear tougher and scarier. This is important to its species and Venom, who is already perceived as weak by their peers, intentionally deepens his voice a bit to blend in. (This is definitely a headcanon but I love this concept so I don’t care that the real reason is that the voice modifier they use does silly things)
This is also why I think it’s so concerned about Eddie and him “looking bad” Looking weak was dangerous and they trained themself to hide “weakness”
It’s always “How does Venom affect people” and never “What does Venom need and how do other people’s actions affect them”
Venom prefers to express its thoughts and feelings through mental connection with its host and then have that person relay the information to whomever they are “speaking” to. Nonverbal communication!
Venom not understanding humans (social interaction, conventions, etc.) is kind of autistic coded.
Eddie
Edie kind of disregards a lot of social conventions. Still hangs out with his ex-fiancé AND her boyfriend. He also doesn’t seem to mind talking to Venom out loud.
Eddies is just kind of anxious in general.
Eddie struggles to find full time employment.
On that vein, he also struggles to maintain relationships.
Eddie's sense of justice. Eddie has a strong sense of justice and morals that often don’t align with generally accepted values and he follows this view of justice and morality to an absurd degree and it often gets him in trouble. Aka, the entire plot of the first movie is because Eddie has autism.
He wears the same clothes all the time.
Specific moments that I think about
Venom
Venom chewing on the tire swing (they both have oral stims btw)
Sand between his toes. Idk I just thought it was cute and chose to believe they like the sensation.
Say it with me. Tater tots are a safe food!!!
Venom rocks back and forth a lot.
This is a stretch but when Venom is like “look at all these weirdos, my kind of people” it’s a metaphor for him being queer but I’d argue it also kind of fits with neurodivergence. Neurodivergent people often connect with “weirdos” (other neurodivergent people)
Likes organization “Pile of bodies, pile of heads”
Eddie
I’ve been told Eddie chews on his necklace at the beginning of the movie but I can’t find the clip and can’t do a rewatch right now so take that with a grain of salt… (I chose to believe this happened though. Also his bracelets are stim heaven)
When he says “Oh, I have a parasite” to Mrs. Chen he had no clue what to say here. He just said the first thing that came to mind and panicked instead of explaining.
Also the way he says things funny. Ex: “✨It’s a treeeee✨” supa, supa, fhasstt” “Heee…. has. one. up. hi’s. Ass toooooo” “ET. Phone home. Aliens? 😃” I chose to believe they are vocal stims (I also attempted to find a compilation but I couldn’t find any. Maybe I’ll make one sometime)
Eddie also makes sound effects a lot.
Eddie writes notes on pen and paper instead of digitally.
He apologizes an excessive amount. Like he says “I’m sorry” to people actively trying to kill him. Which is so real.
“I just bit that guys head off” “I, uhhh, yea I’ve been there it’s not fun” 😕
Eddie also rocks back and forth. Which can be seen in this scene
Quick segment into why I think Venom was rejected by other Klyntar (it’s because he has autism)
Venom doesn’t adapt as quickly or as efficiently as other Klyntar. It doesn’t handle change well.
All of the normal Klyntar weaknesses are turned up to 1000 with them. Instead of just certain frequencies, the range that hurts him is larger and is also affected by loud noises. As shown by: “Venom” car alarm scene
instead of just fire, heat also bothers it. Also doesn’t adapt to light well. (Just a headcanon)
Can’t create weapons out of their body like other Klyntar. struggles with “simple” skills.
Much more emotional than other Klyntar and develop attachments (also purely a headcanon)
Just overall didn’t fit well into their society.
Just headcanons
Venom and Eddie are so compatible because their brains work the same way.
“I wish I could just mentally project my thoughts and feelings directly into your brain. Oh wait, we can do that!”
Venom also has temperature sensitivities. He gets hot.
Venom likes to stim to low key music, mainly jazz and lo-fi. Does the one song on repeat for three hours to wring all the happy chemicals out of it like a dish rag thing.
Venom also absolutely loves cheesy pop music (unrelated to anything here but I’m right and I needed to include it)
Venom functions as a weighted blanket for Eddie when he’s anxious. Maybe even hides under his shirt and stuff and becomes an extra weight.
Eddie stims with his jewelry.
Venom likes to sit in the freezer. Sometimes they visit Mrs. Chen's walk in just to chill (lol)
Purely my opinion but I think Venom also has some light sensitivity for a bit because it’s not used to being in such a bright environment. He gets used to it eventually but every once in awhile he finds the city lights overstimulating.
They are both very tactile. Touching things. Love a good texture.
Venom is super particular about food for someone who eats out the garbage but certain textures and flavors drive them crazy.
Venom hates vegetables. (Except for celery because it likes the crunchy and stringyness of it)
How all of this makes for a great metaphor!
Feeling like an alien in the world is probably the most relatable thing for a lot of nurodivergent people. Like there’s a manual for being human you don’t have. And just the concept of a literal alien showing up and struggling to navigate in a world not made for it is so relatable!
The way they both immediately connect to each other because they have the same weird brain stuff and weren’t accepted by their respective societies is so adorable and wholesome.
“We’re not so different, you and I” This line lives rent-free in my mind at all times. It’s my favorite quote. I think it perfectly encapsulates their relationship and why it’s special. They have autism and are bonding because the other is the first person who truly understands them! (Cries, screams, throws up)
In conclusion
They are in love and have autism. And they cling to each other because they are the first people to truly understand each other. Thank you for coming to my ted talk.
Also I listened to UFO by Smith and Thell on loop while writing this. It’s very autistic symbrock coded so give it a listen if you’re a fan of inde-pop.
#I promised I would write this and here it is#this is probably a jumbled mess but I really wanted to share all my thoughts#they mean a lot to me#anyway if anyone writes more fic of them having autism please DM me a link#I desperately need more fic of them being neurodivergent#autistic venom#autistic eddie#venom#symbrock#eddie is autistic#venom is autistic#venom having autism is important to me btw#I don’t see it portrayed as much in fandom for some reason but they absolutely do and I’ll die on that hill#finally got the confidence to post this#eddie brock#venom movie

Proximus Appreciation
Godddd I forgot how good of a villain Proximus is. He’s amazing, Kevin Durand is a gem.
He is SO charismatic and lively. And he truly believes in everything he’s saying. Or wait, that’s not accurate. He believes in the power of everything he says. Whether HE genuinely holds those beliefs or not is irrelevant because as long as other apes believe, that’s all that matters.
And he is so fucking GOOD at talking. Like he is actually a gotdamn genius.
(Messy ramble under the cut)
Over Dinner
“I know you’re coming here to get inside my vault.” / “IT’S NOT YOURS!” / “Oh, it is now isn’t it?” He says almost laughing in the face of Mae’s outrage. Because it does not matter, not even a little bit, that the vault wasn’t initially meant for apes. Who’s around to stop and take it from him? Her? This one lone human? What can she do? Nothing.
Not by herself.
“Noa what do you see?” / “Stolen clans” / “Not ‘clans’, a kingdom. A kingdom for apes.” Intentionally steers away from how all the apes got there, and focuses on where they could go from here. A kingdom for apes. He gestures between the two of them, like you and me.
Then continues, “Humans can never be trusted”. Trying to get Noa to psychologically distance himself from Mae and connect better with himself. “THEY do not understand that this is OUR time.” This is our time, our world, our lives Noa. And all THEY want to do is take that away from US. It is not you vs me, it’s us vs them. I’m just trying to protect us, Noa.
In The Vault
Later, he tries the tactic again. “APE TO APE, what did MAE have planned for me inside my own vault?” He's giving Noa an out. If he pins it all on Mae and exposes the plan, then Proximus will ignore his involvement. Ape to ape, kin to kin.
But again, it fails. Noa refuses to sympathize with Proximus and is not caving. “Okay, so what do you choose, a human over an ape? Your sweet little Soona or that stinking human?!” You won’t connect with me? Fine. I know an ape you DO have a bond with. He takes Soona hostage and then manipulates how it could be interpreted. His question frames it so Noa will believe it’s about ape vs human, and that everyone witnessing will think it’s about ape vs human.
If that’s the case, the answer should be simple. Choose apes. Tell him the plan Noa. Help Soona. Are you going to turn your back on your own kind? For an echo? For a pest??
But the question isn’t about “apes vs humans” at all and Proximus KNOWS THIS!!! Mae is just a stand-in, a representation. It’s not about Mae the human at all, not on a personal level or even on a species level. Proximus only wants Noa and all those witnessing to BELIEVE he’s asking the simple easy choice of choosing between a loved one and a “pest.”
But the actual ultimatum that is being thrown is for Noa to choose between Soona and the Clan. Because Proximus is smart enough to guess that whatever Noa intended to do would help his clan and hurt Proximus. But he can’t outwardly SAY that because then he’d look like the villainous tyrant he is to all the other apes. So he must frame it in a way that makes him appear to be For Apekind™️ and Noa to be a traitor. You refuse to connect with me, so I will punish those you do have a connection with. What do you choose Noa? Ape or human Soona or your clan’s freedom? “TELL ME THE PLAN!” It’s all about that gotdamn plan!
Proximus is asking Noa the trolley problem. One ape or several. All people you love. You choose who suffers.
And Noa, the very clever ape he is, KNOWS this is the true question which is why he freaks out and Proximus has him right where he wants him. Because either way Noa loses. Sacrifice Soona or sacrifice the plan. Punishment for his refusal to submit.
After The Flood
By this point, Proximus has attempted talking Noa into joining him, he has tried threatening Noa into joining him. When “diplomacy” and intimidation fails, the only thing left to do is just kill him. Noa will never submit unless as a last resort. So that's the exact scenario Proximus creates. He beats Noa bloody in front of all of his loved ones and demands that before he dies Noa must bend the knee.
If he kills Noa without Noa ever submitting at least ONE SINGLE TIME, Noa will become a martyr for his clan. They’ll never be truly loyal to Proximus. Losing Noa is a waste of a very smart ape, but since Noa refuses to be useful while alive, Proximus will make sure he’s useful in death. So he orders Noa to bend the knee before he kills him so that Eagle Clan will follow.
It could even be perceived as another double-layered threat. Bend the knee and your clan will again become one under me after your death. Or don’t bend the knee and your clan’s fate will be left up for ME to decide after your death. Make another lose-lose choice Noa. You won’t be alive to witness it anyway.
God Proximus is just so CREATIVE and INTELLIGENT and MANIPULATIVE!! He’s a captivating antagonist and definitely one of my favorites!
#this is a jumbled mess of me gushing about Proximus#but like!!! your honor HE RULES 🤷♀️#anyway Proximus is the one of the smartest apes in the reboot movies and THE smartest ape in Kingdom#and i LOVE IT#proximus caesar#kingdom of the planet of the apes#kotpota#pota#planet of the apes#noa trilogy#thoughts#analysis#I guess?? lol it’s kinda messy#kingdom

im thinking about cindy again
i need to replay the game but in my mind i remember her as a creature pushed into a corner, hiding her pain and love behind a mask of indifference, nihilism and smug disdain
i liked her well enough then, but then she painted the square in that blood red motor oil
UN JOUR JE SERAI DE RETOUR PRÈS DE TOI
and it almost made me cry, it felt like a hope that is kept alive even in the darkest of times, even with the veneer of nihilism she actually still cares and wants things to be good
this hits so very different after reading A Sacred and Terrible Air
#man i don't know#i could be just making things up#thoughts jumbled from a long day#but there has always been something that struck me about cindy and i could not get it out#the mural really was the point of no return for me#before i was enjoying the game#i really really liked it#but that dragged me deeeep#anyway#cindy the skull#disco elysium#blbl

violently forcing myself to have better days
#everyone’s different and this isn’t true for everybody of course:#but a lot of the time we have more control over things than we can see in a difficult moment#like for example#a negative thought is inevitable and not something you can just stop. however you CAN decide from there how you let it effect you#it’s way easier said than done but you genuinely can be like hey I’m going to have a good day today#I like to set my intentions for the day and not allow my trauma nightmares to dictate how my whole day goes#but in order to do that I have to consciously decide that I deserve better and then create that for myself#does this make sense?#do things you know you enjoy/ things that make you feel better. take care of yourself. create little healthy routines to do each day#even if it’s just for 5 or 10 minutes#you have to act to make a genuine positive change in your life and circumstances#tried to say this as well as I could but I struggle w articulating exactly what I mean#like my thoughts are too complex to translate into words#anyways though I just wanted to add this- this post is not to make anybody feel bad whatsoever.#if you struggle with certain disorders and such it genuinely might be close to impossible for you to actually be able to have that control#and that’s okay. it doesn’t make you any less of a person and it is not your fault that you experience those difficulties#I just wanted to remind people that it is possible to control certain aspects of your life and it is possible to snap yourself out of it#I know I need to remember this as often as I can#that’s why I shared it#I hope this makes sense I do not know if it does lmao#(the tags)#my thoughts are so jumbled up. idk what other word to use lmao

*stirring my half cooked thoughts into the pot*
Once again viewing IWTV Daniel & Claudias vampirism through a feminist angle and how their Turnings can translate to the way we view entertainers and gender. Daniel being allowed to grow old- wearing his age like a badge-before becoming a vampire. His merits and character has nothing to do with his youth. He is seen as quite desirable. Compare to Claudia who was never allowed to age-made to be a little dolly and bird- whose own merits continue to be stunted. When it became clear that she was a woman who in her own right was shedding her "youth" . She quickly became undesirable. We never get to see her wear her age and she has to work twice as hard to be seen. As a black woman this is made doubly harder for Claudia
Whether this was even a tiny spec of thought that crossed the show runners minds, I can't help but compare their individual fledgehood to how the media respects and caters more to older male performers and older women are pretty iced out.
#anyways this has been a conversation made before a 100 times but more thought provoking analysist outside of the realm of iwtv#and inside it yoo. just wanted to throw some jumbled goodies out there#interview with the vampire#iwtv#daniel molloy#claudia de lioncourt#claudia de pointe du lac#feminism#cricket chirps

Okay so WHAT IF
The Biolizard was an actual Mobian?
Introducing Hazard the Lizard!
(Not entirely happy with the design yet but I just wanted to get it out here)
Ramblings about this concept under cut!
In this AU, "Project Finalhazard" was the precursor to Project Shadow, and created Hazard. He was basically Shadow's big brother, and lived with Shadow and Maria on the ARK until the incident with GUN.
Hazard has really powerful regeneration abilities and is essentially immortal, as well as having a bit of Chaos Energy (but not as much as Shadow). He has no Black Arms DNA, being fully lizard (although with plenty of genetic modification by Gerald). The canon version of the Biolizard is actually a form he can take, called his "Finalhazard form", and happens when he's extremely upset or angry. The inhibitor rings on his arms and wrists help him keep it under control. He also is basically entirely "powered" via the green tubes and the thing on his back, which act almost like a heart for him.
While Hazard loved his little brother Shadow, he was extremely aware of his own position as the "prototype" and thus felt inferior to Shadow. There was a lot of jealousy and tension on his part, although Shadow wasn't really aware of the extent of it.
When the ARK was raided, Shadow took Maria to try to get her to safety, being faster than Hazard, while Hazard tried to fight the GUN agents. They managed to lock him away, and because he was in his Finalhazard form, they thought he was just a creature and basically forgot about him. He was left alone aboard the ARK when they finished the raid and remained there until the events of Sonic Adventure 2.
Hazard went a little insane being sealed away on the ARK for fifty years. (Fortunately he slipped into stasis a lot due to the ARK's power being mostly shut off, so he didn't experience the entire fifty years, but still). He particularly got pretty messed up about Shadow, partially being really worried about him and wanting to see him again, and partially being really angry and blaming him for everything. Shadow also lost most of his memories of him due to Gerald's manipulation of his memories. When Shadow and Sonic found him in SA2, Hazard was at first super excited to see Shadow, but then went a bit crazy and ended up going into his Finalhazard form and fighting them like in the actual game. After the final battle, he was able to get back inside the ARK in his normal form and felt extremely guilty about Shadow's "death". Sonic and the gang brought him back to Earth, but he promptly ran away and decided to just roam and do his own thing.
Currently, he still deals with a lot of psychotic issues, especially when it comes to Shadow. Whenever they interact, he ping-pongs between wanting to kill fight him or wanting fun brotherly antics. He's getting better though, slowly. Mostly he just enjoys exploring the world, having adventures, and causing minor trouble. He's mostly a good guy aside from being unstable.
#i have so many thoughts#but they're all a huge jumble#dunno what I'm calling this#Finalhazard AU#Project Finalhazard AU#???#anyway#what do yall think#hazard the lizard#my ocs#sonic oc#sonic au#my au#sonic the hedgehog#sonic#sth#sonic posting#shadow the hedgehog#hazard the biolizard

(Spoilers for ii 15) I love how pathetic Taco is in the new episode. I love when villains try to "redeem" (more so just try and do the right thing, she sees herself as irredeemable) themselves and completely fumble the bag bc they are too afraid to do what would actually get them somewhere /gen. She forced the others to reveal and talk about things they weren't ready for in order to prove a point when she could've proved the point by simply asking them what they'd do if she asked personal/life ruining questions. Would've taken less long and would've kept anyone from winning before she could fully explain what the problem here is. She has the smarts to do so as well. Also she was the reason Mic quit and she burned bridges with Pickle herself. She could've 100% explained the persona thing to him and then clarified that she still never thought of him any lesser. She had her second chance with mic and instead just did the same thing and then used it as an excuse to get Mepad. If we see her confronting Pickle/Mic in EP 16 I really want it to end with them NOT forgiving her. They can understand the sorry and take it, maybe even go "Maybe later" (more likely) but I really don't want them to forgive her. She needs to distance herself from the show as much as she tells others to. There's no honesty with Mephone4, but there's also really no honesty with her either. She called Knife a brute even though she gave Mic a paralyzer, killed testtube, knocked out fan, and kidnapped Mepad while most of Knife's stuff happened a WHILE ago. She shattered over not wanting to talk to someone which is kinda strange considering she made the others do something very similar so like. It's just a sorry. It's not that deep. OH ALSO THE WHOLE "BEFORE HE CHANGES YOUT TOO" THING EVEN THOUGH TACO WAS LIKE THAT FROM THE START OF THE SERIES. Girlie, he didn't change anything you just don't want to take full responsibility for your actions. Anyways live laugh love pathetic villains. Taco is amazing and ima go rewatch the episode again. Feel free to fist fight me on why Taco isn't actually pathetic since I would love to have a small conversation on this with someone (doesn't matter who I don't have many friends who also like object shows besides @ray-the-art-demon Sorry for the mention by the way I decided to not do the slash method bc I wanna see your opinion as well)
#small inanimate insanity rant#Sorry for the block of text and jumbled mess of thoughts it's currently 2:28 am and I can't get myself to fall asleep yet#This is probably gettind deleted later we'll see#Anyways that high note was crazee

look i can let some things slide because they're "just teenagers" but i feel that's used as such a blanket phrase in regards to so much and like...? i dunno. maybe i was just extremely lucky, but the teens I knew back in high school were a lot more mature and self-aware and better at communication than the main characters on 23.5 😭 (Even at my current job we have a lot of high schoolers who work part time and 99% have been a lot more emotionally intelligent than these characters as well). Yes, them being teenagers is something to keep in mind but imo it shouldn't mean they get some huge pass. And like, even if we let certain things slide for the characters, that doesn't mean we have to let that pass regarding the show. (Not saying we should trash this show mind you, just saying it's perfectly okay to criticize aspects of it or vent about it on our silly lil blogs.) Because the show itself still has control over what messages are coming across? They have other characters around to talk to Ongsa and Sun. For instance, I was kinda surprised when Alpha didn't say 'hey ongsa YELLING outside someone's door at night isn't the way to go.' (Girl why are you encouraging her to come back and scream here tomorrow.) Or like, Ongsa's parents (or Sun's if they heard the full story) could have pointed out that this isn't all on Ongsa because Sun shouldn't have shared info that wasn't hers to tell. It's the show's choice to include or not include certain things, and I guess I'm just disappointed with how they handled this story...
