@zenmasterlover, your wish is my command. :)
Via Wikipedia: "Disco Demolition Night was a Major League Baseball (MLB) promotion on Thursday, July 12, 1979, at Comiskey Park in Chicago, Illinois, that ended in a riot. At the climax of the event, a crate filled with disco records was blown up on the field between games of the twi-night doubleheader between the Chicago White Sox and the Detroit Tigers. Many had come to see the explosion rather than the games and rushed onto the field after the detonation. The playing field was so damaged by the explosion and by the rioters that the White Sox were required to forfeit the second game to the Tigers."
Note: Blowing up the records was openly advertised, and was the point of the event. People literally brought in disco records to add to the pile for discounted admission. Steve Dahl, the DJ who did the promotion, railed against disco all the time. It was not a disco promotion, and was not advertised as such. It was anti disco, pure and simple.

“We Rock ‘n’ Rollers Will Resist—And We Will Triumph!
When the Smoke Cleared on Disco Demolition Night, Debate Over Its Cultural Meaning Began.
— October 26, 2023 | Kirstin Butler

In the bright glare of Comiskey Park’s stadium lights, the rising column of smoke takes on a spectral quality. Riot police approach from the right to close in on the phantom, a smoldering pile of vinyl records, at center field. Debris litters the turf below; haze obscures the deck above. Disco Demolition Night, as captured here by a Chicago Sun-Times staff reporter, had turned into something far more out-of-control than a promotional stunt during a double header.
The July 12, 1979 event was the brainchild of a Chicago shock-jock-style radio personality, 24-year-old Steve Dahl, and Mike Veeck, Chicago White Sox promotions manager and son of the baseball club’s owner. Dahl had become a self-appointed anti-disco activist the previous Christmas Eve when he lost his job; his then-employer had switched overnight from rock to an all-disco playlist, following a nationwide trend that saw many radio stations jump on the disco hype train.
Dahl landed at WLUP 97.9, another rock station, where he developed a loyal following. He opened each morning’s broadcast with a ritual: According to a 2019 interview with NPR, Dahl would first cue up a disco song, and then after a harsh record scratch, play the sound of an explosion. He began hosting “Death to Disco” rallies at local Chicago nightclubs, and his band, Teenage Radiation, recorded a disco parody track (sample lyric: “Look at my hair, it's perfect/I saw Saturday Night Fever/Eighty-seven times”). “We have to destroy all disco, it’s our job,” Dahl told his listeners. He planned to make good on his destructive mission, literally, by blowing up a cache of disco records at a local mall. When Veeck learned of the idea, he offered Dahl a much larger venue for the pyrotechnics. The event would take place on one of Comiskey Park’s teen nights.
Dahl was tapping into an animus that had as much to do with anxiety over the zeitgeist as dislike of a musical genre. “It’s worth remembering now that in 1979, the economy and economic opportunities for people who don’t have a college education is actually shrinking,” Adam Green, a professor of African American history and cultural studies at the University of Chicago, told American Experience. “The city is changing because of things that have to do with the economy and politics; it’s not changing because of disco music. But if Steve Dahl says that he’s been screwed by disco, it gives permission to other people to say, ‘you know what? I’ve been screwed too.’”
youtube
Steve Dahl’s band recorded an anti-disco parody of Rod Stewart’s “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy.”
Disco had first emerged earlier in the decade, evolving out of funk, R&B and soul music; its innovators were Black, gay and Latino, and its milieu was the underground nightclub, where those marginalized groups found safe spaces to socialize. However, once record labels realized the genre’s commercial potential, disco music went mass market. And those now-mainstream clubs where disco was played (of which Studio 54 in New York City was the ne plus ultra) developed an elitist cachet that alienated the young, mostly white working class Chicagoans who listened to Dahl. With songs like “Y.M.C.A.,” “Night Fever” and “I Will Survive” topping the Billboard charts, the genre’s ascendance by the end of the Seventies was complete. It was also, then, a prime target for takedown.
These currents were all swirling in the air around the nighttime double header in mid-July, a showdown between the last-in-league Chicago White Sox and the Detroit Tigers. Veeck simply thought Disco Demolition Night would draw several thousand more fans during a losing season.
Dahl wore a combat helmet and fatigues to the park. His anti-disco army turned out en masse, drinking and growing increasingly rowdy as the innings went on. By the time Dahl rode out onto the field in a military Jeep after the first game, nearly 50,000 spectators were crammed into the park; an additional 10,000-plus were outside.
For reduced-price tickets to the park that night, many attendees brought records to be destroyed; all of the sacrificial vinyl filled a bin that was set down, ceremonially, in the middle of the field. Dahl got the crowd chanting “Disco Sucks,” a message matched by homemade banners hung from the stadium’s upper deck. “They’re not gonna shove it down our throats,” he yelled into a microphone. “We rock ‘n’ rollers will resist—and we will triumph!” The records were detonated, tearing a crater into the midfield sod. “That blowed up real good,” Dahl crowed, echoing the signature line that accompanied his on-air disco “explosions.” Triumphant, he got back in the Jeep and rode off the field—along with many of the ballpark security staff. That was when the true mayhem broke out.
People started streaming onto the green by the thousands. They stole bases and tipped over a batting cage; they ripped up turf. They rushed both bullpens and began burning signs. Fights broke out. Veteran White Sox announcer Harry Caray tried to shift the tone by singing ‘Take Me Out to the Ballgame’ over the PA system. No one listened. A message on the scoreboard—PLEASE RETURN TO YOUR SEATS—pleaded, futilely, with the attendees still stoking fires. White Sox announcer Jimmy Piersall opined, “I hope they don’t let you people see what’s going on here at Comiskey Park; one of the saddest sights I’ve ever seen in a ballpark in my life.” Eventually the Chicago riot police arrived, some on horseback, and cleared the field.
Later, after the smoke cleared, and critics and commentators began evaluating the event, many would describe Disco Demolition as an opening salvo in the culture wars. What role racism and homophobia played in Dahl and his groupies’ rebellion remained up for debate. Even from today’s vantage point, a definitive interpretation of Disco Demolition is still murky. “If we seek a true memory,” Green said, “this is the meaning of the backlash against disco, then we're probably going to find ourselves in a situation where we never settle the argument. And I think that that’s the way of all major cultural transformations.”

The Evolution of Music
1970s:
Disco: The 1970s are synonymous with disco, a genre characterized by its upbeat, danceable rhythms, lush orchestration, and steady four-on-the-floor beats. Artists like Donna Summer, the Bee Gees, and Chic brought disco to the forefront of popular music. The genre was driven by pulsating basslines, string sections, and shimmering production, with iconic hits like "Stayin' Alive" and "I Will Survive" becoming anthems of the era. Disco culture also influenced fashion and nightlife, with the rise of clubs like Studio 54.
Rock and Hard Rock: Rock music in the 1970s saw a diversity of subgenres. Hard rock bands like Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, and AC/DC emerged with heavy guitar riffs, powerful vocals, and bluesy influences. Arena rock also became a significant trend, with bands like Queen and Kiss delivering larger-than-life performances.
Punk Rock: In response to the perceived excesses of mainstream rock and the cultural malaise of the 1970s, punk rock emerged as a raw, rebellious movement. Bands like the Sex Pistols, The Ramones, and The Clash stripped rock music back to its basics—fast, loud, and aggressive. Punk rock was characterized by short songs, simple chord progressions, and anti-establishment lyrics. The DIY ethos of punk would later influence countless genres and subcultures.
Progressive Rock: The 1970s were the golden age of progressive rock, a genre known for its complex song structures, experimental instrumentation, and ambitious concepts. Bands like Pink Floyd, Yes, and Genesis created expansive, often psychedelic soundscapes that blended rock with classical, jazz, and electronic music. Albums like Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon became defining works, known for their intricate production and conceptual depth.
Funk and Soul: Funk music, with its emphasis on groove, rhythm, and bass, reached new heights in the 1970s. Artists like James Brown, Parliament-Funkadelic, and Sly and the Family Stone brought funk to the mainstream, characterized by syncopated basslines, brass sections, and call-and-response vocals. Soul music also continued to evolve, with artists like Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, and Al Green pushing the boundaries of the genre with more socially conscious lyrics and sophisticated production.
Singer-Songwriters: The 1970s were a golden era for singer-songwriters, with artists like James Taylor, Carole King, and Joni Mitchell crafting deeply personal, introspective songs. The music often featured acoustic instrumentation and focused on themes of love, loss, and self-discovery. This era also saw the rise of soft rock, with artists like The Eagles and Fleetwood Mac blending rock with folk and country influences.
Reggae: The 1970s also saw the international rise of reggae music, with Bob Marley and The Wailers becoming global ambassadors of the genre. Reggae was characterized by its offbeat rhythms, bass-heavy sound, and socially conscious lyrics. The genre's influence extended far beyond Jamaica, impacting artists and music scenes around the world in the coming decade.
1980s:
Synthpop and New Wave: The 1980s were defined by the rise of synthpop and new wave, with bands like Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, and The Human League leading the charge. The sound was characterized by the extensive use of synthesizers, drum machines, and futuristic, sometimes melancholic melodies. This era gave us iconic synth-driven hits like “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)” by Eurythmics and “Take on Me” by A-ha.
Glam Metal and Arena Rock: Bands like Bon Jovi, Guns N' Roses, and Def Leppard dominated the rock scene with their anthemic, guitar-driven tracks, big hair, and flashy performances. Glam metal (or hair metal) was all about excess—big riffs, big choruses, and even bigger hair.
Hip-Hop Emergence: The 1980s saw the birth and rise of hip-hop as a cultural movement, with artists like Run-D.M.C., LL Cool J, and Public Enemy bringing rap music to the mainstream. The sound was raw, often centered around breakbeats, scratching, and socially conscious lyrics.
Pop Megastars: The 1980s were a golden era for pop music, with superstars like Michael Jackson, Madonna, and Prince dominating the charts. Michael Jackson’s Thriller and Madonna’s Like a Virgin became cultural touchstones, characterized by their innovative music videos, danceable beats, and genre-blending production.
Electronic Dance Music Roots: The foundations of electronic dance music (EDM) were laid in the 1980s, with the emergence of house music in Chicago and techno in Detroit. These genres were initially underground but would go on to have a massive influence in later decades.
1990s:
Grunge and Alternative Rock: The early 1990s were defined by the grunge movement, with bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden bringing a raw, unpolished sound to the mainstream. Grunge was characterized by distorted guitars, introspective lyrics, and a rejection of the flashy aesthetics of the 1980s. Simultaneously, alternative rock bands like Radiohead and R.E.M. pushed the boundaries of rock music with more experimental sounds and themes.
Hip-Hop’s Golden Age: The 1990s are often considered the golden age of hip-hop, with artists like Tupac Shakur, The Notorious B.I.G., and Nas defining the sound. The music was marked by complex lyrics, storytelling, and innovative production techniques, with East Coast and West Coast styles offering distinct regional flavors. Producers like Dr. Dre popularized G-funk, a subgenre characterized by its laid-back, funk-infused beats.
R&B Renaissance: The 1990s saw a resurgence of R&B, with artists like Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and Boyz II Men dominating the charts. The sound was characterized by smooth vocals, lush arrangements, and a blend of traditional soul influences with modern pop and hip-hop production.
Britpop: In the mid-1990s, Britpop became a dominant force in the UK, with bands like Oasis, Blur, and Pulp leading the charge. Britpop was characterized by its focus on British culture, catchy hooks, and a mix of rock and pop influences.
Electronic Music and Rave Culture: The 1990s also saw the rise of electronic music and rave culture, with genres like house, techno, and drum and bass gaining popularity. Acts like The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers, and Fatboy Slim brought electronic music to the mainstream, characterized by fast beats, repetitive loops, and high-energy performances.
Pop Explosion: The late 1990s saw a pop explosion with artists like Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, and *NSYNC dominating the charts. The music was polished, hook-driven, and heavily produced, often with a danceable beat and catchy choruses, laying the groundwork for the pop sounds of the 2000s.
2000s:
Pop-Punk and Emo: Bands like Blink-182 and My Chemical Romance defined the pop-punk and emo movements with catchy, guitar-driven sounds and lyrics focused on youth angst.
Hip-Hop Dominance: The 2000s saw hip-hop become the dominant genre in popular music, with artists like Eminem, 50 Cent, and OutKast leading the way. The beats were often bass-heavy, with samples and synthesizers playing a big role.
R&B and Pop Fusion: Artists like Usher, Beyoncé, and Rihanna blurred the lines between R&B and pop, creating smooth, danceable tracks with polished production.
Electronic Influence: The rise of electronic music genres like house and trance influenced pop music, with acts like Daft Punk and The Chemical Brothers bringing synthesized sounds to the mainstream.
2010s:
EDM Boom: Electronic Dance Music (EDM) exploded in the 2010s, with artists like Calvin Harris, Avicii, and Skrillex leading the charge. The music was characterized by big drops, heavy basslines, and a festival-ready sound.
Trap Music: A subgenre of hip-hop, trap music became incredibly popular, with its distinctive hi-hat rolls, deep 808 bass, and ominous melodies. Artists like Future, Migos, and Travis Scott were at the forefront.
Pop Evolution: Pop music in the 2010s continued to evolve, with artists like Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran incorporating elements of folk, R&B, and electronic music into their work. The production was clean, with a focus on catchy hooks and polished vocals.
Indie and Alternative Rise: Bands like Tame Impala and The 1975 brought a more introspective and experimental sound to the mainstream, blending rock, electronic, and psychedelic influences.
2020s:
Genre-Blurring: The 2020s have seen a further blurring of genre lines, with artists like Lil Nas X, Billie Eilish, and Doja Cat combining elements of hip-hop, pop, rock, and electronic music in innovative ways. This decade's music often defies easy categorization.
Lo-fi and Minimalist Production: There’s been a trend towards more lo-fi and minimalist production, with stripped-down beats and atmospheric sounds. Artists like Clairo and Phoebe Bridgers exemplify this aesthetic.
Social Media Influence: Platforms like TikTok have had a significant impact on music, with short, catchy snippets of songs going viral and influencing popular music trends. This has led to a rise in songs with memorable hooks that are perfect for short-form video content. For example, "Savage Love (Laxed - Siren Beat)" by Jawsh 685 and Jason Derulo — The original instrumental track by Jawsh 685, titled "Laxed - Siren Beat," became popular on TikTok, leading to a viral dance challenge. Jason Derulo noticed the trend, collaborated with Jawsh 685, and added vocals to create "Savage Love," which became a global hit. Also, "Say So" by Doja Cat went viral on TikTok thanks to a dance challenge created by user Haley Sharpe. Other viral dance challenges include "Blinding Lights" by The Weeknd, "Renegade" by K CAMP, "Dance Monkey" by Tones and I, "Supalonely" by BENEE feat. Gus Dapperton, and "Levitating" by Dua Lipa.
Hyperpop: A new genre that emerged in the late 2010s and has gained popularity in the 2020s, hyperpop is characterized by its exaggerated, surreal take on pop music, with high-pitched vocals, distorted beats, and a mix of influences from electronic and pop music. Artists like 100 gecs and Charli XCX are prominent in this space.
While the lines between genres have become increasingly blurred in recent years, each decade has its own distinct sound, shaped by cultural and technological advancements, shifts in production value, and the influence of the music that came before it.

I can't tell if your joking or not, but imma take the chance to explain it to all the people in the back who are just getting into Batman lore.
*Deep inhale*
Dick Grayson was the first Robin, his parents were gymnast's in a circus that came through Gotham who's Trapeze ropes were shot and fell to their deaths before Dick's eyes. He was adopted by Bruce and invented the Mantle of Robin. He eventually outgrew the Mantle of Robin and took on the Mantle of Nightwing. His first costume was a travesty of the 70's Disco era and is referred to as "Discowing" and we all collectively laugh at it. He was the leader and founding member of the Teen Titans while Robin, and is the Robin in the 2005 Teen Titans animated series.
Jason Todd was the second Robin. His current backstory (and it's the backstory we all use, if his original backstory is used, Run.) is that he was a Street urchin orphan child from Crime Alley who tried stealing the tires off the Batmobile as a Kid and Bruce took him in and Adopted him, with him taking over the Mantle of Robin after Dick. His original backstory was a 1-for-1 recreation of Dick's backstory, along with Jason looking like a clone of Dick appearance wise, he was initially written as a replacement for Dick to keep the iconic "Batman & Robin" image that DC had been cultivating, but it backfired so much people hated him for even attempting to replace their beloved Dick (Grayson). So, DC put it to a mail in/phone call voting poll for if DC would Kill off Jason or let him live. Suffice to say, Jason was Beaten to a pulp by the Joker with a Crowbar in an abandoned factory building in the middle of an Iran winter, and was killed when the Joker Blew up the entire Factory. When Infinite crisis came around, the consequences of Super-Boy Prime punching the barriers of reality ended up reviving Jason, but he was mindless and wandering before he was found by Thalia al Ghul and the League of Assassins and was dunked in the Lazarus Pits to help heal his mind. Once he came to his senses and was trained by the League, he finds out a new Robin has taken his place and Jason takes up one of the Jokers old identities, the Red Hood, and went to Gotham to Kill the new Robin, Kill the Joker, and become a crime boss taking control of the Gotham Underworld. He failed on nearly all accounts except for the Crime boss part and returning to Gotham, but he's since been redeemed into a sort of Anti-Hero "Punisher" character, using "non-lethal" rounds now and is part of the ever expanding Batfamily.
Tim Drake was the son of the wealthy but distant and neglectful Drake Family and lived in the manor directly next to Wayne Manor. He had followed the career of Batman since his first appearance and had even figured out Batman and all of his sidekicks civilian identity's. All before the age of 9. When Jason Todd died and Batman became more violent in his grief (or as I like to call it, "Got really into his Evanescence and Nickleback phase") Tim reached out to Dick to take up the Robin mantle once more, but he was turned away. So, Tim broke into the Batcave, and slapped Batman and basically conned his way into the Robin Mantle because Batman Does need a Robin. He is considered the world's second greatest Detective, who will eventually surpass Batman as the world's greatest Detective. He temporarily retired from the Robin Mantle, letting his future Girlfriend take over the Mantle as the 4th Robin until she's Fired and he takes up the Mantle again. When the Fifth Robin, Bruce's natural Son comes along, Tim is essentially stripped of his mantle as Robin, a mantle he'd made his own, so that Bruce's natural Son can claim it. He now goes by the Mantle of Red Robin (Yum!) and is one of the leaders of the Teen Titans at some point.
Stephanie Brown is the Daughter of one of Batman's Villains, Clue master, and took up the Vigilante identity of Spoiler to stop his crimes. She became the 4th Robin when Tim had to step down from the role of Robin, and was the 2nd female Robin (I'm skipping over the Kane Robin because she was an early 50's romantic partner for Dick Graysons Robin in the comics) she was Fired from the role of Robin by Batman, and was subsequently "killed" in an explosion. She didn't actually die, but she faked her death and came back a year later. She has at one point wore the Mantle of Batgirl, until eventually returning to the Mantle of Spoiler up to the modern day. There was a subplot at one point where she had a teen pregnancy, took it all the way to term, until immediately giving her newborn Baby up for adoption for their own protection. She and Tim broke up, and she is currently dating Cassandra Cain, AKA Orphan/Batgirl.
Damian Wayne is the natural born son of Bruce Wayne and Thalia Al Ghul, born and raised in the League of Assassins to be the successor of Ras Al Ghul. He was sent to Gotham to be raised by his father at the age of 10, and took the Mantle of Robin from Tim. He was Bruce's Robin for all of 6 months until Bruce Wayne "Died" and Dick Grayson took over the mantle of Batman while he was dead, with Damian truly being Dick's Robin instead of Bruce's even though he would later work more with Bruce. When Bruce was brought back to life (aka being pulled out of the Time Stream he was trapped in) he resumed being Batman. Damian is best friends with Connor Kent Super-Boy, and has a great love for Animals of all Kinds, and is the reason why Wayne Manor has a barn full of animals such as Bat-Cow, Titus, and various others.
Duke Thomas is more known as the Signal, but he was originally a Robin in the "We are Robin" plotline, leading a gang of honorary Robins, and he was the only member to gain the approval of the Batfamily and was given a Robin Bike and Jacket. It's questionable whether he is classified as the 5th or 6th Robin since he met Bruce Wayne before Damian did, but it's up to interpretation of the timeline. His parents were victims of a Joker Gas attack, so was taken in as a ward by Bruce Wayne. He's the only Meta among the Batfamily and operates during the Daylight hours unlike the rest of the Batfamily.
Hope this helps!
ANYONE WANT TO EXPLAIN ALL THE BATMAN AND ROBIN STUFF TO ME???
Bc like what do you mean there's five robins and one is red and the other has night wings???

get to know me
tagged by @vishcount (thank you!!) and i'll follow her format bc making two posts seems a little much - i'm not that interesting!!
(hilariously, this post shows up as blocked for me bc of the tag 'joker' which? tumblr?????)
Part I
name: i'm an internet old, so i never use my real name online, mainly because it's spelled in a very unique way (thanks mom & dad) - i mean like, if you googled it you could find my home address in a few seconds kind of unique - but also, though i do enjoy the spelling, i actually don't like it very much when it's said out loud? (is it weird that my name written down is 'me', but my name aloud has never felt like 'me'?) always wanted a nickname but never acquired one :/
at any rate, i've had the username xcziel forever and i go by that 😊 (pronounced ex-SEE-zee-el, similar to etc. or ex-SET-er-ah! thanks @xia-xueyi for pointing out that it can be confusing to guess!)
rest behind a cut because it got long!
pronouns: she/her
star sign: i don't ... really *do* astrology? but technically saggitarius
height: 5'4" (162.5cm for the intl folks)
time: 5:43pm but these thing take me forever to type out so ... ???
birthday: playing the 'internet old' card again .. but it floats around american Thanksgiving depending on the year
nationality: american
fave bands/groups/solo artists: lumping these together because i just .. don't really do music much anymore. if you had asked me this back in my 20s i'm sure i would have had all kinds of opinions and things to share, but these days i actually mostly prefer to listen music from when i was a kid. part of it is also that as an old, i prefer to buy my music, even digitally, and i don't really use spotify - which does so much to enable diverse music exploration i admit! but i mostly have earplugs in all the time and music does not work for me as background noise, so...
so i guess my answer would be 70s disco and classic rock and 80s new wave artists? i've never liked any artist's entire discography and prefer greatest hits-type compilations, but i guess duran duran and def leppard and depeche mode would be considered formative? i love new order but specifically late 80s new order, NOT joy division. the only concert t-shirt i've ever worn was the cult? i loved sonic temple but i can't listen to most of it anymore though i still adore love removal machine. i think maybe if you get old enough, for some of us there's TOO MUCH good music and we can't pare it down anymore
song stuck in your head: jamiroquai's canned heat
last movie you watched: re: the above, i re-watched center stage, the 2000 one with zoe saldana and the mandy moore soundtrack, bc it's a happy comfort movie and i just got a digital version
last show you binged: i can't really "binge" very often bc after a couple of hours i need a break, so i guess i'd say the tgcf donghua on netflix since it was short enough to get through all in one go
when you created your blog: in 2012 i stopped lurking so i could post about the avengers movie
the last thing you googled: 5'4" in cm? lol before that it was chinese wrapped street food
other blogs: everything is here! i discovered i compartmentalize about as well as i tag reliably (😓) but i do have several automated ao3feed-tag style sideblogs. and i did, very briefly, have a *winces* hockey sideblog too
why i chose my url: ooh i know i've done this before, sorry if it's repetitive, basically it was the username i picked back when my family first got aol: short, unique combo of letters - 14-year-old me really thought about it! and then it wouldn't let me use anything other than my name. thirty-some-odd years later, trying to come up with a livejournal username that wasn't already taken and getting fed up, i plugged it in and went: good enough!
how many people are you following: like 760-something last i checked? although many, many, many of them are deactivated
how many followers do you have: idk i don't like looking at that stuff, but way fewer than i am following
average hours of sleep: it varies too much day by day, my sleep schedule is too wonky, i have no idea what the average would be
lucky numbers: 7? cliché i know, and again not really buying into it, but somewhere in my hindbrain i like it that my first, middle, and last names all have seven letters
instruments: none. i like singing
what i'm currently wearing: giant black t-shirt and baggy black drawstring shorts, standard sitting around the house gear
dream job: don't have one. if i did it would give me something to be working towards *sigh* this is how you end up in retail for decades, kids! but also, to quote a random post i saw in true tumblr fashion "i simply do not dream of labor"
dream trip: covered this one before but: back to the uk and some railway daytrips, or a really fancy northern cruise, atlantic/pacific either one
fave food: uhhh, don't really have a favorite but i'm almost always in the mood for pizza
top three fictional universe you'd like to live in: none really, if i had to still be me..maybe some kind of actually utopian future? but the pandemic has confirmed for me that i do NOT like living in interesting times, so most fictional story universes are RIGHT out. my favorites to read about like discworld or diana wynne jones' worlds would be way to chaotic for my comfort. possibly diane duane's young wizards universe would be safe enough to be okay?
Part II
last song: watching center stage made me think of my dance playlist so sunrise by simply red
last movielast stream: i don't watch streams or youtube often, so it was the same as you, vish! liu chang's birthday stream was SO enjoyable i screenrecorded the entire thing just so i could play it back (and maybe gif sometime if i ever get the drive to actually do it)
currently reading: well i just finished the translated quan qiu gao kao or global university entrance exam novel, which was sparked purely from catching a single rec post here on tumblr and basically just *falling* into this 166 chapter epic that is *amazing* and not coming up for air until i got to the end, which is typical novel-reading behavior for me (yes i was the kid who read through lunch period and got hassled by people who kept pestering me with "what're you reading" questions and yes i realize probably a lot of you on tumblr were too) plus, the new murderbot novel is out tomorrow!!!!! so that'll be where i end up next!
currently watching: the entire dmbj verse (that i can get my hands on) but ... sporadically and stopping at random different parts because the thing is ... this type of show is not really the kind i enjoy so much? so since it's more for "research" and learning character arcs (and let's be honest: shots of liu sang), etc. it's easy to get distracted by other stuff. i'm also watching the sleuth of the ming dynasty, mr queen, bromance, the expanse, re-watching farscape and stargate sg-1, just finished the falcon and the winter soldier, and then anytime something new and short gets introduced it jumps the queue. there are just. so. many. things. to. watch! (now i have to look into anti-fraud league too!? you all are cruel ...)
what is antipoetry to you: i ... don't really think much about poetry? i know what i prefer is usually the more basic rhymed kind like lewis carroll, emily dickinson, poe, coleridge, etc. so i suppose i don't have much use for classifying non-rhyming verse? i can appreciate stuff like rupi kaur which i guess would qualify? or that william carlos williams plums poem? but it doesn't really stick with me the way lyric-like verse does
currently craving: i never know what exactly this is meant to be in reference to ... hmmm, i would love a new high-concept, high production-quality movie like say, pacific rim, to be released, just for that massive, excited energy that comes with something new that hasn't already got tons of disappointing or conflicting history behind it - that would be so fun!!
other than that, right now, i mostly kinda want some fried fish? but that will have to wait until i go to get my second vaccine shot on wednesday since it's on the way there. i'd also like my internal body parts to settle down and fly right but it's been more than a month and they don't seem inclined :(((( maybe once i'm fully vaxxed i'll think about consulting somebody about it
tagging @foxofninetales @xia-xueyi @momosandlemonsoda @memorydragon @thewindsofsong @elvencantation @mylastbraincql @hesayshesgotboyfriend @aurawolfgirl2000 @smaragdine-galaxy and anyone who wants to! but never feel obligated and if you don't get around to it for like half a year that's totally fine, i am still interested!!!
#xcedit#is my only like 'me' tag#tag game#long post#i wanna do one of these with more unusual questions but not like those themed ones ...#tell me if the cut doesn't work i'm still not used to having them on mobile!
