i had a dream where i was climbing this miles high tower made of soft styrofoam building blocks but they were kinda loose and kept falling apart and i fell but found a grip again and climbed back up and on the way i kept finding little woodcarved toy horsies or other animals , like walnut sized. and whenever i fell and felt like i couldnt climb on i remembered @angelicguy​ post that existed in my dream that went like “true wallclimbers never stop collecting treasures. always get a grip and climb on!”

I don't think so. At least not beyond the sense of "everything is a product so of course people form fandoms around the things they buy". If fandoms were tied to consumerism you would see corporate attempts to create fandoms for all their products. Which is a hellscape I never considered until just now. Just imagine the latest Marvel trailer coming out and instead of a website or social media links at the end they send you to the official AO3 page, or the fandom.wiki. Characters referred to by their ship names in press releases. Actors on press tours being forced to answer questions about which one of their characters ships is the most abusive.

I feel like by posting this I'm going to learn something I never wanted to know, or I'm going to be tempting fate a little too much.
