Thoughts on Misaki

Anyone who defends Misaki clearly doesn’t know how damaging giving a child back to someone like her can be. Miri is an innocent child who doesn’t see the ugly side of their caretakers. But she will. One day she’s gonna start noticing things- she already has, given the parentification we saw in episode 6.

I say this as someone who is very aware of the predatory nature of the privatized adoption industry and how the adoption industry in general preys on and exploits low income families to essentially sell babies to the highest bidder and how difficult adoption is in Japan.

I also know Misaki is a victim of circumstance but she still chose to keep Miri for as long as she did. While adoption in Japan is hard, it is not impossible. And Abortion is frowned upon, but still not impossible.

Misaki allowed Miri to get attached to her and then when it got too hard or she got bored, she just decided to send the child to her human trafficking father alone for money. That environment isn’t safe for any child to grow up in.

Of course, one could argue Misaki was trying to do what was best for Miri by getting her away from the environment she was in with her abusive Boyfriend and all that. But given the way she did it, and the demands she had, I highly doubt it.

I have strong opinions on this because of personal experience with a child who comes from a shockingly similar situation as Miri. And the idea of that child's birth parents suddenly taking interest after literally abandoning that child and expecting to take that child back from the only home they know is appalling and just entitlement of the highest order.

Also, anyone who says my opinion is based on misogyny, fuck you and fuck Shigeki too. Both Misaki and Shigeki can choke. The idea that people being hard on Misaki is somehow wrong because she's still Miri's mother makes no sense. Not every parent deserves their child. Some parents suck. Misaki gave Miri up which is already traumatic to a child, trying to take her back will only cause more trauma because it is- once again- ripping Miri away from her home.

Who's to say she won't do it again? Misaki abandoned her before, and got lucky with Kazuki and Rei. If Kazuki and Rei weren't at the right place, at the right time, Miri's father would have killed her.

Overall, Misaki gets no sympathy from me.

Also to the folks that say "blood is thicker than water.” Well, mango juice is thicker than blood, so what's your point?

“Fuck my life.”

“What?” Your best friend, Misaki, asked from the stall beside yours.

You sighed, holding your phone in your hand as you walked out and met up with her at the sinks. You hadn’t even needed to use the restroom, you just wanted to check your messages in private.

“This asshole might actually be decent.” You rolled your eyes as you sent a text back.

“Dynamight?!” She smirked, trying to peek over your shoulder, but you were quick to shield your screen from her and exclaim that she’d get water on your dress if she didn’t quit being nosy while washing up.

“Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight.” You corrected with a grin,“But yeah I guess mostly everyone calls him Dynamight for short.”

“The fact that you know his full on dorky hero name tells me all I need, girl.” She said as she reapplied lipgloss in the mirror.

You scoffed,���Uh, if anyone’s down bad, it’s him, look at this text he just sent.”

“Not if you call me tomorrow to hash out all the details of your dirty little tryst with the number two hero.” She grinned devilishly.

Lucky for you that no one else had walked into the bathroom since the both of you came in here, you didn’t need everyone hearing all the details of your private life.

“Deal.”

You neglected to tell her that you’d already texted him back.

You left once you saw Misaki make it back to the rest of your friends, waving to them and blowing a kiss from the door before heading to the front of the building and grabbing your coat.

You were just about to put it on when a pair of hands ripped the material from your hold and a voice stated,“Let me help you.”

You watched dumbfounded as Katsuki Bakugo held out your jacket for you, he raised his eyebrow at you, holding it closer to your arms and indicating for you to put them through when you just stared,“Don’t have all night, c’mon, baby.”

You couldn’t help roll your eyes as you finally put it on,“Actually, we do have all night.” You turned around and he carefully pulled your hair out from underneath before his palm found your cheek, a soft caress that had you leaning in instinctively. “How’s it looking out there?”

“Bunch of paps, I’m sorry, they must’ve already known you were here.” He placed a kiss on your cheek as his official hello to you,“Just say the word and I’ll blast them all to hell.”

You snorted,“Yeah, right, and with it your career.” You rolled your eyes again and took his hand in yours,“C’mon, might as well face the music.”

You walked out together, lights flashing in your faces from the moment you opened the door and the paparazzi realized it was you. They began shouting louder once they realized who was with you, Bakugo took the lead though, using a strong arm to push people away from you and yelling,“Touch her and you die!”

Hot, you thought to yourself as you smirked and allowed him to pull you along. Who needed security when you had the number two hero on your arm?

He brought you around to his car,“Dunce face and ears are gonna kill me tomorrow.”

“Who?” You asked, confused.

“My dumb friends.” He scoffed,“They’re huge fans of you, once they realized I’ve kept you a secret they’re gonna freak out and yell at me.”

You chuckled,“Well my friends know so you can tell yours anything you want… within reason.”

He gave you a smug grin and opened the door for you, holding out his hand for you to get in carefully with the tall heels you were wearing. He went around the car and got in himself, finally allowing himself to indulge in a deep kiss now that you had the privacy.

It wasn’t until the next morning when it all began, Misaki spamming your phone with texts and calls about the news articles and asking you to please avoid social media.

You didn’t, of course, too curious for your own good.

You leaned closer into Katsuki’s warmth as you read through the headlines and saw the photos snapped of the two of you hand in hand, your accounts were worse… people online didn’t bother to hide their displeasure. You were suddenly blind, your taste questionable, and everyone was saying you had terrible judgement.

And yet, you couldn’t help disagree as you felt a kiss on the back of your neck and the grip around your waist become slightly tighter.

This thing you had was good, you knew it.

Summary: Misaki was just your typical teenage girl living in Japan, but not in the eyes of her society. She's a human in a life where animals live and think like "humans" in our society. She is now brought in as an experiment for her new life outside her facility to see if humans can co-exist with different other species. A certain wolf gets quite attached to our human friend as he is tasked to protect her.

"Going already?" Mei asked as Misaki grabbed her bag. "Yeah, I have to go over there now to facilitate the choreography for the Light Ceremony," Misaki said as she patted Haru's head. "Get back soon!" Haru waved at her human friend before she left.

Misaki opened her phone to text Shiela that she would go to the clubroom as soon as she walked down the stairs. As she made her way to the clubroom though, she witnessed Juno carrying a sloth to the restroom. "Misaki-senpai!" Juno greeted with a smile as she placed the sloth down. "Ah, hello, Juno. Late for rehearsal?" Misaki asked as they walked to the clubroom together. 

"Yeah, I am. I apologize. Are you late too, Misaki-senpai?" Juno asked as Misaki texted Shiela once again that Juno was with her. "Not really. I come in and out of the clubroom as I have two clubs to deal with," she shared. "Woah, really? You must be very busy then. It's still remarkable as you're still the assistant head," Juno had great admiration for the human as she clung to her.

"Assistant director, but still the same," Misaki corrected as she opened the door. "Sorry, I'm late!" Juno announces her arrival while still holding onto Misaki. Misaki raised an eyebrow as she noticed how tense the room was until they came in the room. The majority of the members went up to the two.

"Come on, Juno! You're supposed to text Sheila-senpai when you're late," Els informed the first-year. "She was carrying a sloth to the restroom, so her hands were occupied. It was very kind of you, Juno," Misaki acknowledges Juno's willingness. "Why, thank you, Misaki-senpai!" Juno was happy with Misaki's compliment. 

"I've also made sure that Shiela got the memo and to not get you in trouble, so no need to worry," Misaki shared as everyone was wow-ed by Misaki's consideration. "But it doesn't excuse me for being late, so I want to clean the training hall after school. Sorry, Louis-senpai," Juno apologized as she bowed. 

"Oh, Legoshi-senpai!" Juno called out to the gray wolf. "I saw the dinosaur in the plaza. It was really pretty. The stage crew is doing their best, so we actors are going to do our best with our dancing practice. We're very inspired!" Juno smiled widely and only had her eyes on him. "...Mm, good, good," Legoshi doesn't seem affected by Juno's comment. 

"Yeah, you guys did great. Seeing as it's also my first time seeing it, I'm proud of each one of you. I'll be sure to take pictures of all of them when they're finished," Misaki smirked and showed that her lock screen was now the T-Rex Statue they painted, making sure she looked everyone in the eye. 

"Aww, Misaki!" Dom looked flattered. "I'm happy it exceeded your expectations!" Kibi smiled as everyone in the creatives team was appreciative of Misaki's honest remark. "Ah, speaking of, Misaki," Shiela walked up to the human and dragged her towards Louis. "We have some sudden news to share with you," she shared as Louis glared at the cheetah due to her comment before. 

"Yes, Sanu suggested that you'll be our main dancer," Louis mentioned and Misaki was shocked. "What!? What do you mean? I'll be at the front?" Misaki covered her mouth with her hand. "One of our dancers won't be available for the festival and you know the dances well. So, they made Juno be back up and you in the center since you know the dance very well," he shared.

"There's only two days left though," she looked worried. "You'll do fine, you the entire dance anyway," Louis was confident. "Did... did Tarok tell you that I'll be revealed too? Is that why you weren't opposed to it?" Misaki asked. 

"Yes, he did tell me. I asked his permission for the dance and he's fine with it. You won't be wearing that get-up anymore," Louis smirked and Misaki sighed. "Fine, fine. I'll do it. I'll text Haru that I have a big role here so they won't have to worry about my whereabouts," Misaki shared as she went to grab her phone to text her. 

"We'll do a quick fitting with you. I'm sure they'll just readjust one of the existing outfits," Louis told her as Misaki was ready to walk away. "I'll let Legoshi know," Louis smirked upon seeing Misaki frozen in place. He chuckled and patted her back and walked away from her to talk to Legoshi. She quickly ran to the changing room and walked out wearing her PE Uniform. 

"Woah, you do have fur in your legs," Juno wondered as she gave a close inspection of Misaki's legs. "They're called Hair for humans. Despite it being short and thin, they make sure they regulate our body temperature and keep dirt away such as my lashes here," Misaki pointed her eyes to let Juno get a closer look. 

"Woah, they're so tiny," Juno giggled. As everyone was talking to Misaki and was excited to see her fully perform on stage, Legoshi kept his eyes only on her. He looked up and down her figure as he felt aroused by her appearance. 

"Stop eye fucking, my sister." Legoshi snapped out of it and shrank away as Louis glared at him. Louis was most annoyed upon seeing Legoshi's wagging tail when Misaki came into the room. "Sister?" Legoshi questioned. "She's like a sister to me, so don't go hurting her," Louis crossed his arms as it would seem that he was finally open for Misaki to be together with Legoshi. 

"So whatever happened before they came in was a misunderstanding on your part," Louis pointed out. "You got the tape measure ready?" Louis asked. 

"Oh, yeah, I do," Legoshi went to pull it out, "Fix your problem first," Louis interrupted and he walked away. "Problem?" Legoshi questioned. He looked down to see a tent in his pants. He panics and quickly runs to the restroom. He could not believe he just had a hard-on. It embarrassed him more to notice his tail wagging faster than ever. He really wants to disappear.

"Where's Legoshi?" Misaki asked after she got away from the questioning members. "He went to the restroom real quick. Dom will be measuring you instead," Louis informed her as he tried hiding his laughter, which Misaki noticed but she didn't question it. She would truly have a heart attack if she knew that she had such an effect on Legoshi.

"Yeah Y/N is right, you're so annoying, but whatever we can play." Feli sighed. "You will play too right Y/N?" Her voice softened slightly.

"I would never miss our game night!" You exclaimed happily, which was followed by Luca's loud "Hell yeah!" You chuckled to yourself, he was really like a dog, a cute one at that.

Their words made your heart ache. Huh? No, no. You are totally chill, they're right. You three are just buddies, zero romantic feelings whatsoever.

That game night was great, the three of you had a lot of laughs, made new inside jokes and just spent an amazing time together. You always had such a great time with them, it made your heart beat faster. Faster because of excitement of course! Why else ahaha. You were just so happy to have amazing friends like them.

The three of you always spent a lot of time together, talked on video chat, played together, sometimes one of you started a call just to fall asleep while the other two were talking. That's just what friends do, right?

So why did Misaki, Angel and the other called the three of you a throuple? Ronin left snarky remarks about your guys' talking stage, and V literally said that he doesn't wish to get in the middle of your love lives. What was wrong with them? Your friendship was obviously platonic...

Months had passed, it was February and you were having mixed feelings. You really loved being friends with Feli and Luca, but are they just friends for you? Your cheeks turned hot every time you heard Feli's cute laugh, or Luca's tries to rizz you two up in a bromance kind of way. You almost could hear your heartbeat and swore that other people could hear it too.

Why are your feelings so complicated? They just want to be friends, that's obvious... or do they? You spent a lot of time thinking about it, the server was kind of right. You didn't have to wait long for an answer, the two dummies were already online and Luca started the call.

"Yo, what's up dude?" You could hear the sound of crashing waves from Luca's side. He was probably at the beach after training with his surfer buddies. Damn he must've looked so goddamn cute with his hair all wet and messy. Shut up stupid mind! it's serious, let's drool some other time.

"Yes, what is the matter Y/N?" Soon the voice that you knew so well joined in. Feli with her unironically cute French accent was just like music to your ears. Seriously, why is your heart beating so fucking loud?

"Uh... so, it will sound weird but..." You paused and took a deep breath. "I, I think that I may be in love with you two." There you go! You spilled your guts, now it's only time for the crashing landing and Luca's bullying for the next weeks, yay.

You waited for an answer, but there was a long pause.

Do they hate you know? Are they so not in love with you nor each other that they will never talk to you ever again?

Your mind was a mess, you almost clicked the hang-up button, but Luca's voice was faster.

"Oh shit, shit, oh fuck! Dude why does it make so much sense?! I think that the old folks were right and I may also have a thing for the two of you." His words were almost not understandable, he was speaking so fast and loud at the same time. He sounded kinda scared and excited at the same time? Well, now it's time for Feli, and she was really quiet.

"Feli? Are you... are you not feeling the same way?" You broke the silence, your heart breaking at the thought.

"No, it's not it." She paused. "I am not as amazing as the two of you, I'm not outgoing I can't... I can't do as much as you can do. You two would fit better together without me." She stopped talking.

"Dude what...?"

"Feli, for the love of God. We've been friends for like forever at this point! We talk, play and do stuff all the time! If we can do it as friends then why not as, well a throuple?" The word tasted strange, almost foreign on your tongue, but it was positive strange? You sighed. "Your disability isn't a problem for us Feli, we love you for you... But do you feel the same?

The seconds when Feli hesitated to answer felt like Hell, you just wanted to know if both feelings were mutual or is it just you and Luca being idiots.

"Then, yes. I do feel the same way." Her voice softened and you could hear Luca's excited sounds as he shouted from happiness.

"Hell yeah dude! i have two cool partners now! Wait, are we even dating?"

"Christ, you're so dumb Luca." You replied and Feli just laughed.

And this is how your wonderful love life began, now the server hated you three even more. Especially on monthly anniversaries, birthdays or love related holidays. You were so sappy and sickly sweet that it was unbearable for the other killers.

Some Other Thoughts on Buddy Daddies E11 - SPOILERS!!

We got confirmation that Rei did quit smoking. Even in this episode, he goes to light it, but can't get the lighter to click, so he just gives up on it. Giving Kazuki his lighter was also quite interesting and I'm not sure what that might have meant to represent or say. Either a key item that will help them out next week or a way of Rei saying “don’t forget me.” I can see it being either, both, or neither of those things, lol.

I was honestly surprised that Rei would eat natto, lol. I love natto myself. The meal that Kazuki and Rei have of miso soup, white rice, and natto is fairly healthy and taste okay, but definitely less flavorful than the kinds of food they were eating when Miri was still around. A metaphor.

The Father's Day flashback was previous, but also made me cry. I also liked how they showed both Kazuki and Rei going through habits that they picked up from having Miri in their lives (cereal, park, kids show, etc.).

This series does a great job of having Kazuki and Rei flutter between drama/serious situations and comedy well. The comedy never feels disruptive or unnatural.

Some other thoughts, I dislike Ryo but it was smart of him to use the cover that he did to get Misaki to open the door. Also the thought of having to listen to Ryo before you die is absolutely hellish.

Other small things: Rei hoping that Miri is eating well is so, so precious and shows a lot of growth. Remember when he ordered fries as veggies? Good times. lol

Kazuki mentioning the size of the apartment being too big for him...Ouch. T-T

The amount of emotions and facial expressions we got out of Rei this episode was extremely satisfying, and I hope that next week’s episode will continue with this.

Surprising absolutely no one, the way Rei’s father talks just straight up pisses me off, lol. So narcissistic.

Miri bringing up Kazuki Papa and Rei Papa and that making Misaki cry was so heartbreaking. Hearing them likely was just a reminder to her of her lowest point in life. But then Kazuki being there for her when she was passing away. Yeah, he initially went to protect Miri, but when he was with Misaki he really did center her in the conversation. 

The conversation between Rei and Kyutaro where they are basically doing a guilt Olympics.  💀

Also, the titles and descriptions of Rei’s games:

Left Game: Shimazu’s demons resurrected in the present.

Right Game: Hide and Attack

Both are very fitting and telling for Episode 11. Oof.

What happens when you feel pressured to do something you never thought you'd do?

Especially if 4 serial killers are the ones pressuring you.

Part 2:

Never thought you'd be hanging out with serial killers- heck, even date one.

Well here you are, in a difficult situation that might make you regret that you even agreed on staying in that server. But lets rewind a bit, shall we?

After Misaki's successful assassination, she figured she'd stay a bit longer in the country before heading home. Which also led her to the great idea of hanging out with the whole group! (Which only You, Ronin, Angel and V could attend)

Ofcourse, Ronin couldn't miss out, no? After all, being the person who brought the group together, can't be excluded. And, it gives him another reason to go outside aside from work and going on a killing spree.

At first, Angel was a bit skeptical, after all she is the Maria-de-la-Rosa, so hanging out, especially in public, would be a little bit tricky. But after a whole lot of convincing and begging, it worked out and she managed to come.

V was confused on why Misaki wanted to hang out, likewise because 1. He wasn't intrigued on the idea of hanging out, 2. He's not online very often, so he doesn't know the group that good as everyone else. But in the end he figured that it that it could benefit him eventually.

Just when you typed the last message, you sighed and closed your device.

You wanted to come, they're your friends after all. But they're also serial killers.

Serial killers.

You were so up in the act, that you forgot that you weren't actually a serial killer.

You're a reporter and writer, and the only one who knows is the devils reincarnate himself.

What if they ask you how your recent murder went? Or what if they want you to do something you have no experience in?

There's one way to find out, and that is to go to that hangout.

"Yooo Reader is that you..!?" Misaki screamed from the distance, waving at you with excitement while you walked up to her.

After a few minutes of Misaki just complaining about V, Ronin and Angel eventually showed up.

After A small fight between the two, you guys decided to walk around, grab some food and hang around, talking about just the casual, work, Hobby's and murder. Well only when there were no people around, obviously.

How long has it been? 4 hours? Ignoring the fact that time exists, you spent way longer than you expected to be outside. Didn't expect serial killers to be that fun.

"Guys, i have this good fucking idea" Ronin said before stopping, having a mischievous look om his face and crossing his arms. "Every Idea that you have is a bad idea ronin." Angel sighed out before shaking her head, knowing he had a bad idea. "Ooh Ooh, let me guess- Murder spree? Let the city know our names before i leave?" Misaki said before Ronin pulled out a crowbar from his bag. "Exactly fucking that."

You're fucked.

A murder spree? When you thought you couldn't get any unluckier, this happens. I mean- you could pretend to kill anyone, but that wouldn't work. Not when you're with four other people.

"So, What ya think about it Darlin'? Cruel, fun and informative. Show us some of those killer moves of yours"

"Yeah, You actually never told us about it. I would like to see a reader killing in live 3D!"

"Uh- As much as i wanna see them do it, we shouldn't pressure them."

"Lets hope for you this one does not show up on the news."

"I would love to guys, but i don't have my weapons on me right now. No weapons, no murder"

I dunno if you heard, but Danganronpa Mauve Chapter 1 has been traduced recently, the Free Time Events are currently being published as well.

If you've watched it, what were your thoughts about the plot and characters (victim and culprit especially) ?

//Hey there! I've been meaning to get to this, and now that Zeph has finally posted the FTEs of the key characters in question, I can share.

//See, I never like viewing character behaviors and actions in isolation within the within the killing game and especially not in the trials themselves.

//Now that we've got some context, let's analyze:

//I'm once again annoyed that we're going through Hope's Peak Academy for like the fifth or sixth time, because I'm tired of this damn place and the people running it. That's really more of a me thing than a problem with people who make these games, of course, since it's already an established setting.

//More to the point, I like that Mauve is actually doing somethings differently. For starters, we actually got to switch POVs permanently this time, where our original protag was replaced partway in. Even then, Hiruto and Nozomi both had chances to not only have their own characters, but interact as well.

//I like this cast overall, and nobody annoys or infuriates me as badly as some others I could name : P

//I hesitate to give my opinions on a fangan before Chapter 1 is complete, hence why it took me so long, but I think it was pretty solid, if a bit derivative in its setup. Not bad overall.

(SPOILERS AHEAD)

//However, props for actually killing a protagonist and doing so in a method nobody's done before, using the morning announcement's bell as a cover. That was a twist I genuinely didn't see coming.

//The game did so much to build up Misaki's character, and if you're a long-term fan like me, you're aware that can be a bad sign. I was so certain that she'd be killed or get got in a technicality, but no, she actually had nothing to do with this.

//Also, in kind of a hilarious experience, I used to make some jokes about Hitomi being blind since I thought her eyes being closed was more of an aesthetic thing like with Brock from Pokemon. Meanwhile, I made a prediction that nobody in the group setting up her concert would be the killer, since that felt too obvious to me.

//In the end, my theory was wrong but my jokes were accurate. Hitomi actually IS blind and our culprit was a member of that group.

//Specifically, none other than Kotori, who i never would've thought at first. And yeah, the elephant in the room here is not only her method of killing but also how utterly nasty and elitist she acts at the end of the trial. Something that really cemented the fandom's view o her as a terrible person.

//However, I wanted to see her FTEs before I rendered my judgement, because those are often the best sources of context for behaviors and attitudes among the cast.

//Sure enough, there was a lot to learn from them. Now, I can completely understand why people don't like her- frankly, her attitude does get pretty grating- but it's also kind of hilarious how her character conflict boils down to her feeling unsure about her relationship with her teacher now that she's surpassed his skills.

//Kotori Fukuoka, Suffering From Success.

//More to the point, watching her FTEs really does clear some things up:

Kotori's attitude and open insistence that she's a narcissist, always talking about great she is and how full of herself she is, actually leads me to believe the exact opposite. She doesn't think much of herself and is trying to prop herself up through that attitude.

Watching her FTEs, she never says anything half as elitist and nasty as she did in the post-trial. She never insults Hiruto or Nozomi or anyone else, never implies untalented people don't belong in Hope's Peak and actually apologies at the end. Compare that to someone like Byakuya, who can't shut up about how much he looks down on everyone. I agree with the idea she only said this stuff at the end to retroactively justify the killing to herself.

Her backstory is actually pretty credible, where her sensei- a friend of her parents- was the one who invested so much into her at a young age and wanted to show her what baking is like, even naming a bakery after her. It was thanks to that, and him offering to let her study abroad in France, that she got to make it into the franchise it is by the time Mauve takes place. But now she has no idea what to think, since she's surpassed him as her teacher, and it's clear she views him like a second father. These are the kinds of things that also drove others to become the Blackened.

She says that baking is the only thing she's actually good at. Once again a fine example of how being an Ultimate stunts and limits what people can do, and when that's gone, they feel like they have nothing else.

//So no, I don't see Kotori as just an inherently bad person. She's an arrogant little snot who needs her ego deflated, but she's nothing like some of the nastier characters we've seen out there, who trample over others without a second thought. We need to consider that the Killing Game often brings out the best and worst in people, especially when they're driven to murder.

//People don't reveal who they "really are" at the end, they say and do all kinds of crazy shit because they're afraid of dying. People reveal who they really are when they're most comfortable, like they often are at the ends of their FTEs.

//Overall, I'm really looking forward to Chapter 2 and where we go from here.

sunghoon and misaki have been dating for a while now, they were now eating lunch together, just them on the rooftop.

she stared, surprised to see he had got above a C on his english exams, "oh my gosh!"

she jumped, out of excitement, "you're improving!"

"well i have a good teacher what could i say," he shrugged, putting the papers back in his folder and into his backpack.

"great job," she said, going back to her food.

"okay so.. i have a competition today," he added, she nodded looking up at him.

"i know," she said, "i saw your calendar."

"yeah well, i want you to go," sunghoon mentioned, "and maybe meet my family. they've been wanting to meet you actually."

"they have? well your sister knows me."

"that's different," he shook his head, "you know it is."

suddenly she was attending to his competition, about to leave her house when she was stopped by her father.

"my saki," he called out from his bedroom door, "where are you going?"

"sunghoon's skating competition," she said, approaching the bed room door, looking in to see dr. k sitting beside him, "hi, dr. k."

"hello misaki," she waved, "how have you been?"

"great."

"sunghoon is her boyfriend," her father giggled like a girl kicking her feet.

"dad," misa groaned, "don't make it weird."

"how long have you guy's been dating for?" dr. k asked.

"about 2 months and a half," she answered.

dr. k gaped at her, "sounds great. in fact, your father was wondering if he could come."

misa glanced at him, he was smiling widely– his eyebrows jumping up at her. she looked at him in disbelief.

"father.."

"my saki," he interrupted, "sunghoon is your boyfriend, i want to be able to support him as well. if my daughter likes him, i do too!"

she looked at dr. k for some back up but she shrugged before saying, "i already told him he could if you allow him."

if you guys couldn't guess, they were both in misaki's car driving to the local arena. she accompanied her father as they tried to find a place to sit. particularly searching for sunghoon's family.

"okay," she sighed heavily, fog coming out of her mouth, "father, sit down real quick while i text sunghoon."

he obeyed, slowly sitting down on the bench. the arena was basically filled and hard to spot people.

"okay, so according to sunghoon they should be near the middle in the middle row or something," misa said.

they made they're way to the designated area, in hopes to not get lost.

"hey, you," a voice called out, clearly with an attitude, "choi misaki, over here."

it was park sara. beside her was they're parents, including another sibling. misaki didn't know sunghoon had two sisters.

she led her father to them before bowing, "hello, i'm choi misaki and this is my father, choi hinata."

"nice to meet you," he smiled widely, "sunghoon is such a nice boy!"

"thank you," his parent's thanked, misaki helped him sit beside them as they started to converse.

hesitantly, she sat beside sunghoon's youngest sister– since sara was giving her a weird stare.

"misaki, right?" the youngest spoke in curiousity, she nodded, "nice to meet you, i'm park yeji."

"hi," misa smiled.

"sunghoon talks about you a lot," she added, gesturing for her to come closer, "but my sister says she doesn't like you."

"sunghoon talk's about me?"

yeji hummed, sara nodding in agreement which caught her attention.

"yeah, he does," she said, looking at the rink, "for some reason, he likes you. i could see it."

"one time i saw him smiling at his phone and he was texting you," yeji said, smiling joyfully, "and he's kind of mean, but that's a form of love for him so don't take him too seriously."

misaki couldn't help but listen to them. did sunghoon really talk about me that much?

"i don't know," misa smiled, embarrassedly.

sara glanced at her, "what's so special about you anyway?"

"sara unnie, don't be mean!" yeji told her, sara's eyes stuck on mine.

the competition took place and sunghoon did fantastic like he always does. misa could see how supportive his family was. despite her being there, sara looked genuinely happy for him.

after the competition, sunghoon had placed first overall. misaki cheered as loud as she could for him, they all walked to the main entrance waiting for sunghoon.

"sara," misaki said, attempting to pull her to the side, "can we please talk?"

she paused before nodding and walking off to a deserted hallway where no one would hear them.

"what do you want, choi misaki?" she asked, clearly annoyed– arms crossed over her chest.

"i wanted to talk about what happened last semester."

sara scoffed, "what's there to talk about? theo liked you, it is what it is."

"sara," her voice going quiet, "whatever you heard, it's not true."

"it's not true that you guys kissed?" she asked, eyes full of boredom, "don't lie to me, yes you may date my brother– in fact you can date whoever you want!"

"sara, it wasn't like.."

"you and theo kissed when theo and i were talking, you.. you were in the wrong," her voice becoming shaky as the memories started to flood her mind.

"he kissed me! it wasn't like that, i knew you liked him so i wouldn't have done that on purpose. he came onto me," misa attempted to explain but sara continued to brush it off.

"did he? because after it all went down you just ran off. if anything you came onto him, that's what it looked like," sara continued, "theo even said so himself... you came onto him, you started it and you begged for his attention–"

"i did none of that," misaki said, betrayal laced in her voice, "sara, you were my best friend. i went to go find you afterwards and when i saw you, you were with him. you didn't even hear me out, you just slapped me in.. in front of everybody!"

"misaki, i don't know what to believe," she scoffed lightly, clearly puzzled by the situation, "because weeks after, theo and i broke it off. he told me he couldn't stop thinking about you, and the fact that you were my best friend– he didn't want anything to do with me."

she could hear the hurt and sadness in sara's voice, "i'm.. i'm sorry, sara but it's true, he came onto me. i didn't want to kiss him. i knew you liked him and i would never do something to betray you. please believe me," it was as if she was begging for it, something misaki doesn't do.

"i.. i need some time, please," sara uttered, walking back to the main entrance leaving her by herself.

slowly after, misaki went back to the group.

"misaki," mrs. park said, grabbing her hands, "you and your father should come over for dinner some time, we would love to have you."

"we would love to come," she smiled.

"thank you for supporting sunghoon and ice skating too," she thanked, "i think because of you, sunghoon has been improving much more easily and his grades are getting better. thank you."

"that's all sunghoon," misa laughed, "thank you."

it was now after the competition and it was dark out. they were now at the park, in front of misaki's house. just misa and him on the swings.

"congrats on first place," she told him, nodding whilst impressed.

"thanks, babe," he laughed, begin to swing at a slow speed.

she watched him, get higher and higher, unconsciously admiring him.

hesitantly, she called out to him, "sunghoon."

"what's up?'" he asked, slowing down on the swing.

"i have something to ask you," he nodded for her to continue, his swing coming to a stop, "do.. do you like me?"

he blinked at her, unsure of what to say. his silence answered her question.

"for how long?" she asked, her voice getting quiet.

he wasn't even sure himself, not pulling his eyes away from her because he was scared that if he did then he wouldn't be able to look at her again.

"since the mall," he said, "i've liked you since the mall, but my feelings for you have grown stronger ever since we started to fake date."

she couldn't help but stare at him, her reaction was unreadable.

"i know it's wrong but i truly didn't want other people to know i'm getting tutored, that parts true."

"are you sure you like me?" she asked, "maybe.. maybe you don't know the feeling.. maybe you're still unsure."

"i like you, misaki," he confessed, "i truly do, these last two months have been wonderous for me. i know my feelings are real because when i'm with you my heart begins to race, i get nervous, and i get this funny feeling in my stomach. i get this thought in the back of my head wishing that i don't mess it up."

everything he was saying, was exactly the same as how he makes her feel. is that what it means to like someone?

"if that's true then.." she mumbled, "i think i like you too."

I feel Iike the story’s leading up to Rei opposing his Dad bc he doesn’t want to lose the only happiness he’s ever had.

Also about Misaki, I’m so happy she’s trying to do better by Miri but then again, it’s for selfish reasons. She’s pretty sure she’s going to die it’s just a matter of when. Taking Miri away then dying afterwards is only going to be more traumatic for her. Like she just got her mom back and she’s going to lose her again.

The about change made me sob. Yes you can change, you already did because of Miri. Give them normal happiness please🙏

Agree with everything you said Anon. We're going to watch Rei curb stomp his dad to the ground in the final ep and its gonna be great(ok maybe not but somethings gotta give and its not gonna be kazurei).

Yeah that's why Misaki taking Miri back is for selfish reasons because 1) kazurei already have taking care of Miri to a T and 2) she's about to give Miri trauma AGAIN by dying(though when she grows up Miri will regret not spending more time with her mom so it probably is best for her to stay with Misaki at least a little while)

OH I REMEMBER THIS SCENE. THE HOT SPRINGS. CUE THE MUSIC. CUE THE KISS. CUE THE SOFT WORDS.

oh yeah this scene is really just so sweet guys. like. okay, we get a look into misaki and seeing how is opening up to akihiko. he's all, in his thoughts: these conversations happen, we're together, we are intimate more, we spend out time togehter, i feel okay when usagi says to feel okay (implying that he has opened up to usagi in ways he hadn't been doing. that misaki is truly falling for usagi. like it's not the whole: "i love you/i don't love you" take anymore.) but then it's like reality does hit him (and maybe it should) that he and akihiko are so different, they're from two different worlds and after he thinks all those things he says: i am almost tricked into believing him.

I think what we can take away from this is that Misaki has very real concerns about the reality of their relationship. In a way that, maybe because Usagi is older, he doesn't... It really seems, a lot of the time, that the world is very black and white to Usagi. It's a "i want it, i get it" type of world, because it's always been that way and maybe that is why he fell so hard for misaki because misaki gave him a different look at the way the world really is.

And here we see Usagi, ONCE AGAIN, begging and pleading and praying with Misaki.

Usagi: Fall in love with me, love me 10x and 20x more than you love me now and become unable to part with me. That's all you have to do. I'll protect you from everyone else in this world, without fail.

It's just... I feel bad for Usagi, and I hate to be this person but I understand where Papa Usami is coming from. We want our children to have everything and love and happiness and all the world can have but we also don't want to hold them back from whatever they want as well. It's a fine line. I think there is just a lot at play in the whole thing.

Misaki was standing in front of a mirror, their expression was one of displeasure. That wasn't surprising considering the fact that they are currently wearing their mother's old yukata.

It wasn't spectacular or very expensive, the cotton was in the shade of red-orange with a flowery pattern on the bottom half of the yukata. The age of the yukata wasn't so noticeable since it was pretty well maintained.

"I look dumb." They murmured as they clenched the decorative flower hairpin in their hand.

"Ah, ah, no negative thoughts today." Misaki was startled when one of their two partners appeared behind her and took the accessory from their hand to put it in their hair. "You look lovely." Y/N said and kissed Misaki's head.

A whistle came from the bathroom door.

"What eye candies you both are." Ronin leaned on the doorway, he was dressed in a yukata as well, his was less decorated and much simpler. It was mostly black with a dark grey lower half. It suited him even if it looks very different from his usual attire.

"Wow Ronin you look so good!" Misaki exclaimed excitedly.

"Awh, thanks darlin', you look absolutely beautiful." Ronin approached Misaki and checked them out once again. "It suits you, but your regular style rocks too."

"Oh? And no praise for me?" Y/N pouted at Misaki, for what the assassin laughed.

"Oh shut it you look great too babe." Misaki took their hand in hers and squeezed it.

Ronin nodded in agreement to Misaki's words.

"Stop fishin' for compliments baby, we have a festival to attend. We didn't ride all the way to Nihonmatsu for nothing." The man reminded them with a cheeky grin. "Unless we are going to-"

"Nope! No crime today, we need to gooo!" Misaki dragged the two of them out of the hotel room.

The Nihonmatsu Lantern Festival. Misaki invited her partners to spend some time together on that festival since they already decided to pay them a visit and she wanted to make the long way worth it.

It was a weird feeling when they gave it more thought, dating one person was something they never imagined, but two people? That was a shocker, the amount of love and chaos their partners brought into Misaki's life was a whole new experience.

So it was only natural for them to want to make happy memories with those two goofs, especially when they could actually spend some time together outside of the server - the server is very much kept updated with the new adventures that the throuple experiences and they hate how much Misaki floods the media channel with the pics they took while they spent time with Ronin and Y/N.

"Damn this looks nice." Ronin said when they arrived at the place of the festival. He looked impressed with how the streets were decorated with lights and lanterns.

There was a bunch of small food stands and shops with lanterns to decorate or with souvenirs for tourists. It all looked amazing and made the three feel even more of that autumn vibe.

"Wow! It's totally different from the festivals back in USA." Y/N said visibly in awe.

"Are there even festivals for anything else than Halloween?" Ronin asked mockingly.

"Well if you left your home for anything else than... you know, then you would see the festivals." They crossed their arms and looked at Misaki. "Right, you have to visit us on the Halloween festival, there will be a bunch of hunted houses, food, fun activities and even a Ferris wheel!" Y/N said with pure excitement at the idea of dressing up with Misaki and Ronin for Halloween.

"You're such a kid sometimes." Misaki elbowed them in their shoulder.

"Wow, you're so rude." They huffed. "Let's go over there!" Their whole mood changed quickly and they started to go towards a food stand.

"Yeah let's go or they will get lost." Ronin chuckled and took Misaki's hand in his. "C'mon, let's have some fun." There was a sinister glimmer in his eyes, well he and Misaki were pure chaos when they were together... Maybe they won't cause too much trouble today? Hopefully?

The three enjoyed their time together, Y/N was running around like a kid wanting to try everything the festival had to offer, that was to be expected it was their first time ever to visit Japan and take part in a festival. Ronin and Misaki found their behaviour cute, Misaki joined in on the fun, dragging Ronin behind her as he was in charge of carrying whatever Y/N bought and couldn't carry because they were running to the next attraction.

"Isn't your wallet a little thinner than it was before?" Ronin asked when the three of them finally sat down in a restaurant to eat something.

"Nopeee, I saved enough to spend a shit amount of money here today." They said proudly.

"You really are prepared to have fun today." Misaki was smiling from ear to ear.

"Duh! You invited us here, so I will spend the most of it."

"What they said." Ronin agreed. "What's next on the to-do list?" He turned to Misaki.

"Hm... Oh right, we have to take a lantern and let it go with the river flow so spirits can follow behind it." They said and looked at the people walking towards the river with their lanterns. "So eat up kids, we have to find a nice spot."

"Ohh so that's why we bought a lantern and painted it?" Y/N's question was answered with a nod. "Is one enough for the three of us though?"

"Don't worry your pretty little head with it, one is enough." Misaki smiled.

"Hah, murderers sending a lantern to help the spirits find their way? Ironic." Ronin crackled a laugh. "I like it."

"Yeah because you have a lot of spirits to get rid of." Y/N replied sarcastically.

It took the three quite a while to find a good spot, people were everywhere and walking between them was troublesome.

"Who has a lighter?" Misaki asked when they crouched with the lantern.

"I do." Ronin answered and also crouched, and gave the lighter to Y/N.

"Why am I not surprised?" They answered and crouched between the two. "Hold it too Ronin, I don't want to burn Misaki or the pretty yukata." They shot him a glare.

Y/N some trouble with lighting up the lantern, which was met with Ronin's sarcastic remarks and Misaki's laughter.

"Wow finally, thought we would sit here forever." Ronin said when the fire inside the lantern lit up.

"Oh you're so funny, you know that?"

"Yeah, and you love it." Ronin sent them an air kiss.

"Okay maybe stop getting on their nerves, or you will join the spirits." Misaki was hardly holding themselves steady with how much they were laughing.

Y/N took a deep breath and also gently held the lantern.

"Are we ready?" They asked.

"Yeah."

"Yes chef!"

They nodded.

"Okay then. 3, 2 and 1!"

The lantern slowly joined the rest on the river's surface, creating a whole sea of lights that looked absolutely mesmerising with the falling leaves flying around.

"Happy Nihomatsu festival." Misaki said and smiled at their two partners.

This is a day worth remembering!

okay. here's the thing anon. I loved the writing, the world building. when I say I was devastated reading it, I was DEVASTATED. it's been a while since a book made me genuinely sob reading it, but this one did, and everyone who's read the book knows why.

that being said... one plot line in particular kind of made me raise a brow. That being the storyline between Misaki and Takeru. Like don't get me wrong, the writing itself was devastatingly good. truly superb. the confrontation scene? top notch. but I do think that a lot more time could have been spent towards building up their reconciliation and navigating that relationship and how they rebuild. while I think their confrontation was great and so so sad, I don't think enough was shown to give that development the full justice it deserved.

also, before this-

Takeru is a genuine, genuine asshole for a lot of their marriage. Like after he explains himself a bit more, and Misaki realizes she was also pushing him away a lot, we realize what's going on in his mind. But how the author phrases some parts of their relationship... like there's that one scene where Misaki describes how she shied away from him when having sex and how he 'pinned down' her wrists before finishing. Like?? not great vibes. I don't remember the exact quote, and it's highly possible that it was just a poor choice of wording on Wang's part, but I do think Takeru's behaviour dipped into the unforgivable vibes for a lot of their relationship.

I don't know. Like I get what Wang was going for. I really really do. And I think in some ways she succeeded. But yeah the implication that he maritally raped her kind of put a bad taste in my mouth? Idk if that was just me that interpreted it like that? Misaki never accuses him of that particular crime, and there's a LOT that she's angry with him for, so idk if I'm right to interpret it that way.

But yeah, I think more could have gone towards earning that 'happier' marriage ending. Like Misaki's journey as a mother, leader, warrior is top notch. I just don't think enough happened for me to buy that she fell in love with him after all that. Not that soon, anyway. I think more could have been taken from the beginning of the book and then more added to the end to develop their relationship a bit more.

I would still 100% recommend this book to anyone who asks, but yeah. that reconciliation could have been a bit more earned in my opinion. let me know what you think anon!!

Suruga-Ya Art Book Haul

It's crazy. I made this order Friday night, and it's at my doorstep Wednesday afternoon. And I didn't even pay for shipping thanks to the campaign that Suruga-ya was running. The average cost of a book here is under 10CAD, all said and done, so I really can't recommend giving it a shot if you're looking for art books.

Anyways, these are the ones I grabbed, and I'd love to take a walk through each of them and why I got them.

Prince Universe - Mutsumi Inomata

This is the first, and oldest art book in the haul, and that age and position comes with reason. Inomata is an insanely tenured animator, dating all the way back into the end of the 70s. They've worked on series like City Hunter, Saint Seiya, Maison Ikkoku, and many many others. One of the best things about the art book is the age of the style, and not in a bad way. No, these drawings have aged like fine wine over the years and are very beautiful.

Hydrogen - Tsuruta Kenji

Need I really say anything? It's Tsuruta Kenji, incredible art and a healthy side of nudity are present in everything they do. Really though, I think what I like most about Hydrogen is its range, opening with a short manga and ending with a large amount of black & white line art. Though who am I kidding, his works that are done in color are still incredible, and there's something that I just love about his character designs.

Boogiepop And Others - Koji Ogata

Despite its relative popularity for the era, Boogiepop isn't something that really ends up talked about all that much. But I'm a big fan of it and its style/designs, so I had to pick up the art book from the illustrator for the light novels.

Nostalgia - Tsukiji Nao

Admittedly, I'd not heard of Nao before finding this art book. But I saw the cover and knew I wanted it, and now I'm in the middle of reading Adekan as its got me in its grips, and for good reason. Nao's art is incredibly beautiful, and I'd say the "best" out of this batch of art books.

Mix Noise - Misaki Saitou

Saitou is just a damn good artist. Their style presents a discernable age, and a very palpable edge that I just can't get enough of. They're not on the level of Nao, but it's a style of art that I could look at all day long. Side note, the art for the second was for the cover of a manga. Yeah, imagine seeing art like that on a manga. I'd immediately pick it up.

Okamarble -Okama

Despite my excitement and interest in the artist, I don't know if I'm the biggest fan of this art book. Okama is known for having storyboarded some pieces of the stunning Kubikiri Cycle ONA as well as doing some art for Arakawa Under The Bridge and even character designs for some other SHAFT series. I do think their art is pretty, I'm just not a fan of the more erotic nature of the book at large (which delves into full on nudity towards the end). So yeah, I don't think this is an art book for people that aren't die hard Kubikiri Cycle/SHAFT fans, but the art within is still really good.

Step2 - Hisashi Eguchi

Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely a fan of Hisashi Eguchi. I love their design sense, and am a massive sucker for their color design and style of shading/lighting. Buttttttt I got this art book because of the Sonny Boy art in it. I know, sue me, but this is just about the only art book out there that has Sonny Boy art in it from a staff member on the anime.

World of The Tapir - Shizuku

In a world where it feels like there's a near unlimited amount of great artists, how do you separate yourself? Well, what separates them for me is color design. Having fresh and unique art that plays on color and provides a strong sense of individuality is a surefire way to get my attention like World of The Tapir did. Not that the art itself isn't pretty, but the color design is what really singled it out for me.

Kaleidoscope - Keiko Takemiya

Being a part of the Year 24 group is introduction enough, I feel. But I'll keep going. Being a pioneer not of just shoujo manga, but manga in general, Takemiya has a pretty impressive bit of history behind her, which this book details. Not so much "art book" as it is "visual memoir", it's a very interesting piece that I'll be slowly digesting over time alongside it's timelessly pretty art.

1017 - Toinana

I...don't have anything to write for this art book. Toinana is an illustrator that I found on pixiv and so I stumbled across this art book. I love their character designs for how busy and creative they are, but I don't really have any sort of history to explain with them because I don't know too much, really.

Asai Genji / Kusanaga Rin Artworks

I've been a fan of Kusanaga Rin's artwork in The Faraway Paladin since I first laid eyes on the covers for the series, so imagine my surprise when I found out they had a penname. Even further, imagine my excitement in finding out they've done art for Fate (among plenty of other video games). If you want art closer to the video game side of JP culture then I can definitely recommend this one.

And so finally that's the end of the list. There's a lot of art for me to enjoy in these books, so I'll certainly be taking my time with them. But not too sow though, have to make sure I've got a clean slate for the next time suruga-ya has a free shipping sale. Seriously, even with the minor price differences between the JP and global website, the free shipping makes books like these a steal. Absolutely love art within books that are in outstanding or even borderline amazing condition, there's not really a way you could go wrong if you're looking for this stuff.
