is there a way we can read your dissertation, dear one?
oh, you’re very kind to ask!! i’m afraid i’ve become more uncertain about posting excerpts here since i heard that people might have been stealing my new labour edits. not that i think they’d do the same to my dissertation— after all, it’s on shakespeare and marlowe, not blair and brown— but it has made me realise more clearly how protective i am of it. it’s so much more valuable than any tumblr webweave, of course, not only because it’s a piece of academic writing and a hefty one at that, but because i worked so hard on researching and writing it, and the idea of putting any of it somewhere i know a thief might operate has made me…. leery of posting it, to say the least. it’s perhaps the piece of work i’m proudest of, and it contains research that i’d like to build upon over the rest of my academic career. and needless to say the consequences of it getting stolen would be more significant, too. i’ve sent copies of it to some trusted friends who have requested to read it, and i’m always happy to discuss it, but i do want to keep the actual work safe. this might sound a tad absurd, i don’t know. but i hope you understand
