2022 Creators Self-Love Extravaganza!
Rules:
It’s time to give yourselves some love! Choose your five (5) favorite works (fics, art, edits, etc.) you’ve created this year and link them below to reflect on the amazing things you’ve brought into the world in 2022.
If you don’t have five published works, that’s fine! Include ideas/drafts/whatever you like that you’ve worked on/thought about, and talk a little about them instead!
Remember, this is all about self-love and positive enthusiasm, so ta heck with the rules if you need ta bend them some. Have fun, and tag as many fellow creators as you like so they can share the love!
And of course, thank you, @ellorypurebloodculture for tagging me!
This is all going to be Original Work because that's where my brain has hardcore been for a long-ass time now. And it's all going to be NSFW because that is also me to a tee. My mother tongue be fuckin' filth, y'all. Here we go~
As it turns out, this was actually harder than I thought. There's been a fair few words I've made this year that I love a whole fuckin' lot, but! I have succeeded in shaving it down to these five~
CW For: Extremely Underage (-10), Underage (-18), Bestiality, Non-Con/Dub-Con Nastiness~
bless the child
Summary: The newest mannequin is by far the prettiest.
2. snow-white sin
Summary: A fae queen indulges herself with her newest toy.
3. pretty little girl (growing up so mean)
Summary: "So you would be my stalker then," Saoirse says from where she's sprawled. It's not worn wooden boards or cement or whatever else would be expected of a kidnapper's abode, but wool, luxuriously thick. It isn't at all like the movies or shows she enjoys watching in the theater room. Or rather, her personal theater room. Mommy and Daddy do tend to frown on her interest in such things.
Truly, it's their own fault for being slow to accept that their little girl isn't so little anymore.
Although—
Getting abducted just days after her sweet sixteenth isn't quite what she would have had in mind, but, well, flexibility and adaptation and all that. Surely she can use this.
4. tentacles, oh my!
Summary: Lyra didn't know what to expect when she found the scrap of worn old parchment up in the attic. Truthfully, she didn't expect anything at all. She was just curious.
So curious, in fact, that she just had to pull it out and speak aloud the strange, fancy words inked in a rust-red script during the latest slumber party held at her place.
After that, thinking got really hard.
5. mean bitches
Summary: A phone camera records some interesting footage.
Not many blogs I know on here, something to rectify during the approaching year, methinks. But all the same, I'm going to tag @garpie64 and @primeemeraldheiress and anyone else who'd be up for this. Feel free to hit me with an @ if you decide to do so~

All the final lines of each part of every Hunger Games book
THG:
Part I:
“Because . . . because . . . she came here with me.”
Part II:
Before I can stop myself, I call out Peeta’s name.
Part III:
I take his hand, holding on tightly, preparing for the cameras, and dreading the moment when I will finally have to let go.
CF:
Part I:
It’s my mockingjay.
Part II:
This is no place for a girl on fire.
Part III:
“Katniss, there is no District Twelve.”
MJ:
Part I:
And his blood as it splatters the tiles.
Part II:
That I’m of more use to her dead than alive.
Part III:
I tell him, “Real.”
#thg#the hunger games#catching fire#mockingjay#peeta mellark#katniss everdeen#gale hawthorne#thg book comb#curious that 5/9 of these involve peeta#and he's not just mentioned in passing#from his revelation of love to him being tortured to katniss's feeling about him#he's KEY he's CENTRAL he's THE DRIVING FORCE THAT USHERS IN THE NEXT SECTION OF THE BOOK#over to gale#poor guy is in one (1) final line#and even then he's just relating news to katniss#the subject is the destruction of district 12 (her home)#it's a heavy and jarring line because of what d12 means to katniss#NOT because of gale himself#and NOT because of anything to do with their relationship#also interesting that the only characters/players these ending lines focus on are:#peeta (x5)#coin#snow (implied)#and the rebellion#never prim or gale or anyone else#although I know they have several CHAPTER endings all to themselves#so this is NOT to say that a character's presence (or lack thereof) in these particular final lines#is directly related to their importance to the plot#(see: snow)#HOWEVER

I am once again thinking about the reluctant ruler whose arc justly and correctly includes assuming the throne and taking responsibility for the people set before them
#it's about simba coming back to pride rock it's about aragorn using andúril to fight for middle earth and assuming the throne it's about#hiccup marrying astrid and assuming his role as chief and moses returning to egypt#and it's about irina loving her people so fully that when she claims all of her subjects as hers that chernobog must release them to her!!!#and it's about miryem choosing to stay with the staryk and repair the damage and assume responsibility for the land and people!!!!!#and! it's! about! gen!!!!#it's ALWAYS about gen!!!!#gen who didn't want to be king. who hated being king and only wanted to marry a queen but who obeyed his gods and became a king over kings#who lost his home and half his family and his HAND but who ushered in a new golden age.#and it's about sophos who ran away but who shot the ambassador and took back his kingdom#it's about duty and it's about sacrifice and it's always ALWAYS about doing the right thing even at great personal cost because it's about#submitting to a power higher than your own. of recognizing that the calling on life is one for serving others and having so much more to#answer for than just yourself. it's knowing duty is love is duty#i cant stand stories where the answer is 'give up the throne and reject your duty' because no!!! you dont get it!!!#thats how you get the monsters!!! thats how you get the prince turned into a beast and thats how you get every terrible weak king that#aragorn feared becoming#to accept your throne is to die to self!!! you are no longer you but 'king' or 'queen'#it's like queen mary says to qeii in the crown 'elizabeth mountbatten must die#elizabeth regina must take her place.'#that's terrifying! but it's also everything!!!!#die! to! self! die! to! self!!!!!!#lilac rambles#lilac goes to the movies#lion king#prince of egypt#lotr#spinning silver#the crown#tqt#the queen's thief#httyd

usopp and sanji late night impromptu date swimming in the aquarium. reblog if you agree
#one piece#sanji#usopp#sanuso#nemotime#its ass oclock and theyre both tired and one of them floats the idea of a swimming date#but the sea is dark and hard to navigate and neither of them want to drag out the kiddie pool frnky has stashed away somewhere#and usopp suggests the aquarium. sanji goes 'okay. aquarium time.'#dont even bother to change into swimsuits. they strip as much as they want before going in.#and then just kinda hang out at the edge of the hatch#shoulder to shoulder and valiantly trying their best not to fall asleep in the water#any fish that come investigating (read: bothering usopp) gets kicked away by sanji and also added to meal planning for the next day#the rest of the crew find their night watch idiots asleep in a very precarious position#where one wrong move would send them into the water#zoro pushes sanji in on purpose. in his sudden surprise and panic sanji grabs usopp and drags him down with him#before resurfacing not a few moments later cursing and apologizing thinking it was his own fault they fell in#zoro rips them a new one about falling asleep on watch duty. sanji figures out it was him who pushed them in- or has a hunch idk#anyway. fighting while usopp gets ushered off to bed proper with a warm drink. sanji joins him after making breakfast#and they eat together in usopp's bunk before snuggling and probably sleeping again#anyway

CanesWear Signing | 7.1.24
#niko mikkola#florida panthers#the mortifying ordeal of being known#you can tell how bad i was shaking from how much the jersey moves in my hands oh it was so serious for me its not even funny#youre my favourite player thats why” “thank you” girl i would eat concrete for you without any hesitation#“new jersey?” me sweating profusely because i have to admit i had this jersey for a while now in front of his face oh god oh FUCK#“where do you want it? here or here?” “anywhere choose where anywhere” “ill do this way”#behold decision paralysis plus the constitution of a doormat with an awful aim to please vs the assuredness of a bull romping through field#“i mean its your jersey at the end of the day”#he says without thinking because he lacks a brain to mouth filter and immediately wants to slam his head into the nearest hardest object#but its okay it got a little smile out of mikksy so maybe my motor mouth can be used for good#my voice is so hoarse because i stood under for 7 hours and also loudly cheered like never before all throughout those 7 hours yesterday#also a lot of people had tickets for both mikksy and lundy or just lundy so thats why the line was moving slowly#so at one point they went OKAY WHO HAS TICKETS FOR JUST NIKO and i raised my hand like oo oo mee ☝️ and got rushed to the front#also a lot of the stuff he was signing was nonspecific posters and hats or other players jerseys (that already had other signatures on em)#which is why the attendant was like oh sweet jersey! and mikksy was like new jersey? because there werent many people at all#comparatively his signing was priced the lowest at 39 out of all cats players. the highest currently is benny at 60#does it suck his line was shorter. there was surprise when someone toddles in with a mikksy jersey. and that his signing was priced low?#yes ofc but also i didnt have to stand in the heat for long got ushered in faster and my wallet didnt cry so lets not kid ourselves here#there are silver lining to everything but anyways first hockey jersey and first signature on it acquire call that a man on a mission 😎👉👉#long tags i love mikksy i lot you understand right <3#also im never wearing this jersey again so i might as well buy a frame and ANOTHER mikksy jersey#to bad it also has my 30th ani cats patch on it too </3

Genuinely with my whole heart I think 99% of lori’s beef with rick is that he was way too bisexual for her cis wasp ass to even begin to comprehend
#you know and I think shane also fell into this trap#like having watched the beginning seasons again and seeing the trajectory that he went on as an apocalypse character I do deeply feel that#his specific narrative of adaptive survival is rooted in the rejection of the heteronormativity of the old world and ushering in the new on#where instead of the usual ‘survival of the fittest’ narratives the ones who do survive are the ones who never fit or were ultimately#adaptable. like. he isn’t even a good cop because he ultimately rejects cop morality at the end of the day and very early on#and if we ever got backstory on that it wouldn’t surprise me if rick got into being a cop simply because that’s what shane did#and really I think that’s the ultimate magic of the walking dead#none of these characters truly fit into the world before and what they do in the world after matters deeply#also this show is extremely socialist on a lot of levels which I really like#the way everyone helps raise judith and then also the way rick leads is also very socialist at times#(with all of the pitfalls also)#idk man tho with lori specifically he does NOT fit in with her idea of the average heteronormative patriarchal relationship and that is#still so special to me after all these years#anyways#rick grimes#the walking dead

see you could say as much as you like that luffys dream isn't gonna be heroic bc he's not a hero or w/e. but luffy always does heroic shit Constantly. even if he wouldn't consider it heroic himself it's probably going to be some incredibly admirable shit. you can't take luffy at face value when he says that like. just look at him. boy's a hero innit
#i imagine the dream has smth to do with ushering in a new age. likely one of freedom. or like pirates which = freedom to him#and then you could be like “oh well not everyone will Like freedom” and thats why its Not Heroic#cuz he tells uta he's gonna bring forth a new generation at one point. in a filler episode for the movie but. that does seem significant#one piece#monkey d. luffy#i think people tend to take the “he's a pirate” thing too far#like yes he is a pirate. and also yes he is a very good boy. and he does heroic things all the time. those are not mutually exclusive#he's not The Kind Of Hero That Is Self Sacrificing specifically. but like. he is a hero. just like if you look at what he does. he is.#and like saying he's not a good boy bc hes a pirate is like. come on. are you watching the show#luffy's goodness is intrinsic to the show. it drives forward the plot constantly#luffy would not get as much support from ppl around him if he was not good!!! everyone helps him because he's good!!!#and he constantly wants to help people!! and fights to make their lives better!!! because he's good!!!!!!!!!!

I wanna talk about 'The Banshees of Inisherin' cause I really enjoyed it but I'd like provide ye a bit of context for the production of the story that might alter some of the analysis I've seen gettin passed around. A common misconception about MacDonagh is that he's an Irishman- he's not. He's English. His parents are Irish and he's spent many a Summer holiday in Ireland. But he was born and raised an Englishman. Irish stories of the 20th century have a tendency to carry a lot of political tension, far more tension than you'd see in 'The Banshees of Inisherin' because, like all irish stories for the past millennium, they work as fabels. They're all metaphors for recent irish history and the social mores of rural Ireland and understanding that is almost necessary for the enjoyment of the those kinds of works.
MacDonagh, being an Englishman, is less concerned with these politics; but irish influences remain strong in his works all the same. First and foremost, he's a playwright and this is evident in the structure of his screenplays. MacDonagh makes a lot of references to the film adaptation of John B. Keane's play 'The Field' both visually and by use of certain character archetypes in his film. Take 'The Irish Fool' (a trope that deserves its own post tbh) depicting a mentally disabled character whose function in the story is like that of Shakespeare's fool, only these ''''fools'''' are genuine depictions of how mentally disabled adults were (and still are!!!!!) treated/taken care of in rural irish society. Yet in spite of all the parallels between both stories, The Banshees of Inisherin makes one fundamental deviation from all other irish works which is that rather than having the interpersonal conflict between the protagonists be a metaphor for irish history- irish history is instead a metaphor for their conflict. This inversion of traditional Irish storytelling is present in other areas of the story as well, such as the banshee not being a screaming mourner- but a passive aggressive observer. It's MacDonagh's close connection with the Irish that allowed him to subvert tradition in a way that I personally believe to have been done masterfully. Hypothetically; you could tell this story in any location, but it's rural irish identy is what sells it. Between the isolation of island life, the consant threat of emmigration vs homeland violence, the blur between the natural and supernatural, and the total lack of privacy met with a mandatory level of trust; all these factors are what make 20th century Ireland the ideal setting for a a story of this calibre AND I LOVE IT.
#this has been your daily reminder to watch The Field (1990) dir. Jim Sheridan#an additional footnote i have about the film that i wanna keep in the tags#cause i don't want the The Irish are the True Oppressed Race crowd touching this post is#going into this film i was worried it was gonna be another one of macdonagh's tragedies where all the best/main characters die#only this time it was set in the Wacky West#where the paddywhackery never sleeps and the 'be gorrah and be jaysus's spill out of mouths like spit#but d'ya know what? the hiberno-english was accurate a good 98% of the time#there was a bit of excessive feckery here and there but overall it was good 👍#nacdonagh has been writing plays in this setting for years and that's fine#my only concern though that i had before the movie was first announced and that i unfortunately do still bear now that it's released#is that this is gonna usher in a new wave HAHA THE IRISH ARE SO CRAZY WHAT A CROWD THEY'RE SO FUNNY DANCE PADDY DANCE#and that's not fair cause irish art has a right to exist and be spread around the world#but part of me does still wish that he kept it a play😔#the banshees of inisherin#the field#my nonsense

Ulmer of the Kingswood jammed his spear into the ground, unslung his bow, and slipped a black arrow from his quiver. Sweet Donnel Hill threw back his hood to do the same. Garth Greyfeather and Bearded Ben nocked shafts, bent their bows, loosed.
One arrow took Mance Rayder in the chest, one in the gut, one in the throat. The fourth struck one of the cage’s wooden bars, and quivered for an instant before catching fire. A woman’s sobs echoed off the Wall as the wildling king slid bonelessly to the floor of his cage, wreathed in fire. “And now his Watch is done,” Jon murmured softly. Mance Rayder had been a man of the Night’s Watch once, before he changed his black cloak for one slashed with bright red silk.
- Jon III, ADWD
… away, he meant to say. When Wick Whittlestick slashed at his throat, the word turned into a grunt. Jon twisted from the knife, just enough so it barely grazed his skin. He cut me. When he put his hand to the side of his neck, blood welled between his fingers. “Why?”
Then Bowen Marsh stood there before him, tears running down his cheeks. “For the Watch.” He punched Jon in the belly. When he pulled his hand away, the dagger stayed where he had buried it.
Jon fell to his knees. He found the dagger’s hilt and wrenched it free. In the cold night air the wound was smoking. “Ghost,” he whispered. Pain washed over him. Stick them with the pointy end. When the third dagger took him between the shoulder blades, he gave a grunt and fell face-first into the snow. He never felt the fourth knife. Only the cold …
- Jon XIII, ADWD
Hmmmm 🤔
#jon snow#mance rayder#rattleshirt#asoiaf#valyrianscrolls#two wildling kings - one fake one real#three confirmed kills with a fourth handing in the air#one is a man of the nw goes beyond the wall to become king then returns to die by fire#one is a man of the nw who is yet to become king but he is dead and might be reborn through fire#mance’s watch ended after he died and his kingship was taken away from him#Jon’s watch has ended….but this ushers in a new kingship that is yet to come#Jon’s story goes in the reverse of mance’s

Thinks about Keeper and Eight's first meeting. Eight, who hadn't even cleaned the blood of the previous Intelligence administration off him. Who still had bolts in his shoulder and was dripping onto Keeper's floor (there's a blooming stain with a dagger-shaped tear on the back of the chair he's sitting in. best not to surmise who sat in it previously. his unfortunate predecessor, late). Eight, who didn't bother to look forward with the hollow eyes of a dead man. Head hung heavy. Dead on arrival. Keeper knew what he'd done. What he could do.
All he asked was that he sign on the dotted line.
Swear yourself to the new Intelligence. To me. It's the only way I can save you.
I, ___, do hereby swear.
#swtor#ooc#reversal of nine's circumstances my beloved#slay the old usher in the new#arrive on the doorstep wishing you were dead and that this is all a dream#eight the executioner#<- his old title. the old ones whisper it when he's not looking#nine who arrives as a new star. eight who arrived as the end of it all old and covered in their blood#administrations come and go in the blink of an eye and it was no different with intelligence#also hurts that he was so young and made to carry so much as if he were already a full fledged cipher.

good things about Bug Out:
- Hawkeye nervous about performing a delicate proceedure he’s never been trained in and snapping at people, always one of my favourite things
- Hawkeye freely and emphatically telling Margaret he’s terrified when she points out he’s not acting scared
- uhhhhh Hawkeye’s parasol
bad things about Bug Out:
- it’s a bad episode bront
- Potter
- “This is the US army, if we want land, we don’t buy it we take it!” with 0 condemnation from the narrative.
- the military march version of the theme complete with asian stereotype riff
- WHY does Margaret stay with Hawkeye, and why does Hawkeye only offer one token protest????????? she is useless here.
- even more emphatic WHY DOES RADAR STAY???? Hawkeye doesn’t even say a word, he’s just like ‘k cool’ when Radar says he’s staying too, wtf lol. He should be picking him up and throwing him into the nearest truck, not buying him a drink at Rosie’s. it’s so arbitrary and stupid, clearly a nonsensical plot contrivance for the sake of like, padding the 2 parter out with the bar scene
- Potter makes Klinger give up all his dresses, no reimbursement or anything, and then it turns out to be pointless in the next scene anyway
- bad attempted dramatic references to wartime rape esp when we got Rainbow Bridge to compare it to. Rainbow Bridge is good because it’s a brief acknowledgement of harsh reality that’s accepted as a risk. Hawkeye makes a quick joke that I’m fine with bc it serves as an ic expression of nervousness, then we move on. In Bug Out Margaret brings it up in a serious enough way suitable for the tone, but Hawkeye dismisses her concern for some reason, telling her “there’s no reason to be afraid,” before the conversation shifts away onto him. Then the more slapstick-y panic at the end (like this scene features Radar trying to hide behind a pole, c’mon) includes Margaret screaming about being ravaged ft a dismissive Hawkeye joke (”tell them you’re with me”), and later exaggerating the danger they were in to Frank. And it also bugs me that Margaret specifies “female prisoners” when Rainbow Bridge acknowledged male rape. It’s like it’s trying to be a serious moment to draw attention to the danger of the situation, and then falls flat on its face.
- the overall plot doesn’t really make sense? is it just a coincidence that a bug out drill turned into a bug out rumour that was denied and then turned into a real bug out? considering they bug out like twice over the course of the show that seems pretty improbable lol.
- honestly I find the humour in this episode mostly bad. more racist jokes than usual, a few homophobic moments (Potter calling some singer a sissy, BJ’s “I’m staying with you but don’t get me wrong” no homo, everyone calling Frank Alice), and an offputting tone that doesn’t successfully balance its humour and its drama imo (see that paragraph about rape up there for an example)
- oh also why tf does Klinger immediately tell Frank about the bug out thing, without even mentioning the fact that it’s just a drill? I get that Klinger can’t keep a secret, that’s a fairly consistent thing, but why immediately go to Frank and Margaret of all people? Did he intentionally want the camp in an uproar? Why, if so? If it’s a prank we should’ve had a scene where he laughs about it, but nope.
- Hawkeye parking the car to wax poetic about the MASH good lord. serves you right that it stalled out. I don’t necessarily think it’s that ooc since it wasn’t positive, just ‘we spent a lot of time here, lots of ppl died here, hmm’ but i do think it’s dumb as shit and I don’t think Hawkeye lacks that much self-preservation
- no good gay jokes either :/ literally the best we got is Hawkeye saying, “You finally realized I have a beautiful body” after Margaret says she’s staying, which is the mildest of feminizing jokes.
It’s funny honestly, I remembered disliking this episode for Potter and the pro-military flavour and the lack of decent gay jokes, but upon rewatching there are so many more aspects to hate in addition to that
#mash#marley on mash#mash s5#i needed to complain lol#it's bad in comparison to most of mash tbf it's still a decently entertaining episode of television that's mostly ic#but boy it's one of my least faves and it's in such a bad position - ushering in a new showrunner like oof#i mean i think of season 5 fondly with this as somewhat of an egregious anomaly but still
