Tumblr media
itā€™s cold on the battlefield.
the wind nips at your skin until it feels like youā€™re about to freeze over. you feel the coldness seeping into your skinā€”entering and traveling up your veins until it eventually reaches your already ice-cold heart.Ā
the scene in front of you feels all too familiar. youā€™ve seen it a thousand times over in the pastā€“the image plaguing your sleep, turning whatā€™s supposed to be a time to rest into a time of nightmares and waking up in a cold sweat. your lover, gojo satoru, is on the ground, eyes on the precipice of losing its shine. and thereā€™s red, fuckā€“thereā€™s so much red. a pool of red lies underneath gojo and itā€™s all you can see.
usually, at this point, youā€™d wake up, mind all over the place and heart racing. satoruā€¦ whereā€™s satoru? youā€™d panic, feeling the covers for your lover and exhaling a sigh of relief when you find him curled up next to you.Ā
heā€™d always get up after you, knowing that youā€™d experience the occasional nightmare of him leaving you. satoru understands this very well. he has nightmares of you leaving him too. heā€™d make sure to hug your shaking, crying form until your sobs eventually ceased. ā€œiā€™m right here, love. iā€™m not going anywhere. iā€™m the strongest, you know? you should have more faith in me.ā€
wake up. y/n. this isnā€™t real, right? wake up. you pinch your skin and dig your nails into your palms, hoping to wake up from this nightmare. except, you donā€™t wake up, and with the newly made marks etched on your skin lighting your nerves on fire, you realize this isnā€™t a dream. this time, gojoā€™s not there to ease your worries and reassure you that heā€™s aliveā€“that heā€™s never going to leave your side.
with that realization, you feel yourself moving again. you scream satoruā€™s name with a voice plagued with nothing but agony and despair. you run over to his side, panic filling your senses when you feel his body and get all the red on your hands. red. itā€™s never had a negative connotation to you before. there was red on the roses that satoru had given you on valentines day. red on the heart-shaped gold necklace heā€™d gifted you on your anniversary (that youā€™ve never taken off since). red on the box of chocolates that heā€™d given to you on an ordinary day. ā€œwhat? does there have to be a special occasion to show my girlfriend how much i love her?ā€
now, your perception of the color red has been tainted for the rest of your life. itā€™s the only thing you can see, and you want to close your eyes forever just so you donā€™t have to see that crimson shade ever again. ā€œsatoru, you said youā€™d never leave... you lied to me!ā€
he coughs weakly, using all his remaining strength to weakly take your hands in his. thereā€™s a small smile on his face, and his peaceful expression only makes you sob harder. an expression that shows that heā€™s accepted his fate. ā€œgosh, iā€™m getting your clothes all dirty. iā€™m sorry, princessā€¦ā€
ā€œcan you promise me something, though? before iā€™m goneā€¦ā€ he whispers, and you nod your head, ready to do anything for him. ā€œpromise me weā€™ll meet again, okay?ā€
that catches you off guard. ā€œwā€¦what do you mean?ā€
ā€œweā€™ll meet again, in another life, and iā€™ll love you all over again.ā€ he smiles cheekily, and you hold his hand a little tighter, sobs racking your core and making your entire body shake. ā€œhave you ever imagined living a normal life? a life where sorcerers and curses are all alien words, and iā€™m not ā€œthe strongestā€?ā€¦a life where iā€™m just like everyone else, and i get to marry you because no shitty higher-ups are holding me back anymore. god, i think about that all the time. iā€™ve realized that iā€™d like that version of life with you more than anything.ā€
you think that everyone in the jujutsu society has had that thought at least once. sometimes, the idea of being an ignorant civilian unknowingly living in a world filled with curses and despair seemed preferable. and yet, youā€™ve chosen to be a sorcerer, and perhaps this is the worst part to it. constantly losing the ones youā€™ve held closest to your heartā€“all to protect a group of people who arenā€™t even remotely aware of the sacrifices that sorcerers have made so that they can live a normal life.Ā
ā€œiā€™ve always wanted that too, sā€™toru.ā€ you whisper, in fear of your voice breaking if you speak too loudly. ā€œyeahā€¦ a regular life without curses. what do you think itā€™ll be like?ā€
ā€œhmā€¦ let me think. iā€™ve always wanted to be a dad, yā€™know?ā€ satoru teases, and the two of you are lost in your own world as you both envision a life where you can be together without any repercussions. ā€œmegumi doesnā€™t count, cause ā€˜m not his biological dad. i want a little me running around in a house that weā€™ve worked so hard to buy. and who knows? maybe weā€™ll have more kids. maybe one or two more-ā€
ā€œthree kids?! thatā€™s a lot, satoru.ā€ you say in mock surprise, though you canā€™t expect less from your boyfriend. ā€œhey.. does that mean weā€™ll get married?ā€
ā€œof course, sweetheart. youā€™re the only love iā€™ve ever known. ā€˜m sorry i have to leave you like this. but iā€™ll come back for you in our next life, okay?ā€ he hisses as he uses all his strength to grip your shaky hands a little tighter. you can tell his adrenalineā€™s wearing off, but youā€™re not ready to let go.
iā€™ll come back for you in our next life.
every second youā€™ll spend waiting for satoru seems like an eternity.Ā  ā€œiā€™ll propose to you with a beautiful ring ā€˜nd youā€™ll beā€¦ā€
he coughs up a little bit of blood, voice hoarse and barely holding on. yet, gojo persists on using whatever strength he has to talk to you.
ā€œyouā€™ll be y/n gojo. i like the sound of thatā€¦ā€ he whispers, and both of you know that his time has run out. the red on your skin is beginning to dry, and it feels like itā€™s tainted you forever. ā€œi love you, princess.ā€
ā€œi love you too, satoru. iā€™ll see you soon.ā€ gojoā€™s grip on your hands loosen. you whisper his name again, looking for a response, but youā€™re only met with silence. heā€™s left you alone just like how everyone else has left you. nanami, geto, haibara, and now satoru.
you donā€™t scream or sob once you realize that satoruā€™s gone. in fact, your tears have ceased, but it's instead replaced with this empty feelingā€”like a hollow hole in your chest that canā€™t be filled with anything to make you feel whole again.
the battlefield is cold, but gojoā€™s limp body feels colder.
Tumblr media
gojo satoru is twenty-two years old. heā€™s a slightly above-average man (both figuratively and literally) standing at six foot three, boasting looks thatā€™ll make anyone fawn over him. it took him almost two years to decide on a major, but after trying a little bit of everything (and falling asleep during every business class that he took with his friend nanami) satoru settled on choosing a political science major to become a lawyer.
despite having looks that grant him the ability to get any girl that he wants, satoruā€™s spent his whole life looking for a girl that heā€™s never even met before.
he remembers everythingā€“and every part about you. sometimes, he thinks that all the memories heā€™s spent with you were just some sort of dream, and yet, they seemed so vivid. sometimes, satoru chastises himself, a part of him wanting to just move on from you because he doesnā€™t even know if you actually existā€“and yet, heā€™s been trying his entire life to find you because his memories told him that ā€œhe promised he wouldā€.
were they memories or were they dreams? he doesnā€™t know what to think anymore.
but then, gojo satoru finally gets his questions answered one spring afternoon.
he passes by a cute bakery while walking home from school, and feels his taste buds waking up as he stares at all the mouth-watering sweets displayed behind the storeā€™s glass. the bakery has a wide variety of baked goods, as well as coffee. satoruā€™s so busy looking at the menu that the second he looks at the cashier, he feels his entire world stop.
itā€™s you.
and at that moment, satoru could feel all the memories flooding back in. no, they werenā€™t dreams. they were memories. satoru has lived a completely different life before this one, and this was a new life, a second life that was granted to satoru from whatever deity there was out there. all he ever wanted was to live a normal life without being renowned as ā€œthe strongestā€, and most importantly, he wanted to live a normal life with you in the epicenter of it.Ā
you. his entire world. his lifeline.
and now, youā€™re right in front of him, and satoru feels like heā€™s sixteen all over againā€“the year that you met him when you transferred into jujutsu high. the year you turned his entire world upside down. the year youā€“as well as his other friends, taught him how to live for a moment without caring about the overbearing pressure of expectation that was ever-present on his shoulders.
a glimmer of gold on your neck catches satoruā€™s eye.
it was the heart-shaped gold necklace that heā€™d given to you on your anniversary. the heart itself was crystallized red, and when you asked gojo to clasp it around your neck, youā€™ve always kept it on you.
he wonders if you ever took it off after he died.
ā€œy/n?ā€ the whisper almost felt pathetic with how much emotion he poured into it. you look up from your phone and finally meet his gaze for the first time in years.
two star-crossed lovers who made an oath to love each other like theyā€™ve never loved before in their next life. the two of you have finally crossed paths againā€“but wait, thereā€™s something terribly wrong.
ā€œy/n? yeahā€¦ thatā€™s my name.ā€ you say, looking at your name tag that was pinned onto your apron. a look of confusion is etched onto your faceā€“the man in front of you is looking at you with so much familiarity that you feel the need to know who he is. silvery white hair, cerulean blue eyes. his appearance makes him stand out so much that you wouldā€™ve definitely known who he was. you awkwardly adjust your name tag, unable to find any words to say other than:
ā€œiā€™m sorry, but do i know you?ā€

i really wish people on that "does it like women" blog would only vote on polls for media they're actually familiar with instead of just basing their opinions on what others are saying in the notes... like if you haven't watched/played/read something isn't that what the see results button is for? personally i only ever vote on a poll i know nothing about if it's like "who's the best video cat: fluffy from jrpg #1 vs skrunkly from jrpg #2" and my mutual is strongly campaigning for skrunkly on my dash, because i figure that's just a silly fun thing. and even some of the does it like women polls for media i am familiar with i end up not voting in because i feel too conflicted about it. the soul eater poll is a good example actually, i want to say yes because imo maka is an awesome protagonist who's pretty unique for the genre she's in but like you said in your tags, there are also a lot of reasons to vote no! and this is coming from someone who loves soul eater and has both watched the anime and read the manga!
Yeah...it's weird to me. I don't see why that gives anyone more of a high to click yes or no rather than the see results button, like yeah it feels good to vote on this type of thing, but only when I have an informed opinion that comes from my own heart. And if you really want to vote, that seems like a good opportunity to uh, just check out whatever the media is. Even watching or reading for fifteen minutes will give some kind of impression that's better than just vibes or someone else saying something. It'll still probably be inaccurate in a lot of cases, but at least it'll be based off something.
I am fortunate in that I've watched and read a lot of stuff though, and I did instinctively click yes on like, Billy and Mandy based soley off the vague childhood memory that Mandy was straight up evil and I support women's wrongs, but there was actually probably a bunch of shit in that show I don't remember, so it's not like i can say I'm ALWAYS fully informed. And sometimes I use tags to refresh my memory. "I can't remember what this did bad...okay from the tags I now remember" I am by no means a purist, I just think the point of the poll is opinions from people who actually interacted with the media or at the very least know so much about it against your will through internet osmosis that you might as well have watched ten episodes (me and Supernatural) (I have seen plenty of clips along with fastidious episode summaries and story breakdowns and so many goddamn tumblr posts so that counts for me. I'll be damned if I don't have a right to an opinion after living through the indundation of 2013 tumblr. I didn't vote on Doctor Who though despite basically the same, that seemed like more of a tossup for whatever generation it was and I didn't feel even the massive amount of knowledge i've somehow accrued was enough to make a blanket assessment).
Anyway, even if it's not that serious, it's an earnest question that you're supposed to put actual thought into, and that's why I enjoy it so much.
I don't want to get too annoyed with it, just like I try not to with the results. At the end of the day it's the internet and just a difference in approach that I won't ever understand.
I like Soul Eater too, don't get me wrong! I have fond memories. The manga definitely fell off for me at the end (and I skipped over a lot of the early chapters because I'd seen the anime, knew it had cut out quite a few pantyshots, and I wasn't dealing with those), I actually prefer the anime original ending, despite how basic it was (especially in Crona's case god why did the manga never give them a break). Just nice to see my girl win the day by punching someone really hard.
But I enjoyed it and I still adore Maka. There's still no enough action shonen out there that have a female main character for it not to be kinda special. But god. imagine a world where it cared about its female supporting cast's development more than boobs. or storytelling more than boobs, in a lot of cases.

I'm mad about Jynx again (The PokƩmon)
Okay so most people who have even been residually exposed to the PokƩmon franchise are familiar with Jynx, the Psychic/Ice type PokƩmon introduced in the first generation. Either for the controversies early on, or just because it's a good example of a strange looking design. Due to the reasons I just stated, and/or due to the fact that it's an ice type - a type typically seldom seen until very late game in most entries - I'm willing to bet most of you have never bothered to use one, either. To be fair to it, It's no as awful as it looks! It's got paper-thin physical defense, but decent speed and pretty good special attack that pair perfectly with it's typing! It's an interesting pick if you're looking for a run with mons you've never used before... But this isn't a post about convincing you to use Jynx, I'm here to rant about an aspect of it's design that has driven me completely fucking nuts for the past decade or more.
Looking at the sprites for Jynx in the first three generations, everything looks as you'd expect. Exactly how it looks in the anime, as well as in the manga and other spinoff media.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The problem begins to show itself when we reach the sprites from generation 4.
Tumblr media
You see that? You see those strange.... tendrils coming off the dress? Just below the arms? If you wanted to argue in good faith, you could say that this is simply a sprite that poorly communicates depth in the skirt... But then we arrive at generation 5 - where the sprites now have animations and more inherent depth. Generation 5 is where many believe gamefreak had mastered the spriting game and are considered the final sendoff for the sprite style in the franchise.
Tumblr media
It's those GOD DAMN TENDRILS. This time, it's very clear that they're not just miscommunicated depth on the skirt and are now actual, un-questionably, tendrils of some sort that jut out of the skirt or create some sort of odd "spike". This sprite is what I consider to be the beginning of what I like to call the "Jynx miscommunication", where -someone, somewhere down the production line - completely misunderstood the sprite and somehow managed to canonize one of the most bizarre design choices I've ever seen. Yeah, I said "Canonize", and I'm not joking. Because it actually happened. Every appearance of Jynx in the 3d games have featured this interpretation of Jynx's dress. ALL OF THEM. Here's an example; pictured below is the model rip from generation 6 and 7; the 3DS games.
Tumblr media
Somehow it's become even MORE spikey; as if it's body underneath the skirt has MASSIVE spikes jutting out on each side; the dress isn't draped over it like something implied to be cloth-like in behavior should; it almost reminds me of what the barbs on Corsola look like.
Tumblr media
Anyway, my point is mostly made now, but just to drive it home once more... To really just illustrate how deeply ingrained this design "choice" is... I need to explain that every Pokemon in existence was given brand new artwork for the Pokemon transfer service - Pokemon Home. In pretty much every medium outside of the games, Jynx was never depicted to have these weird spikes, so surely they'd refer to previous artwork of Jynx when making the illustration for it in pokemon home, right...? RIGHT...?
Tumblr media
WRONG. Jynx officially has the spikes in it's most recent artwork, it's models, AND it's Gen 4 remake menu "sprite". The most infuriating part about this for me, though is that the Sword/Shield menu sprite Doesn't include the spikes at all. Like holy shit it's model in sword and shield even HAVE the spikes like all the others do! RAAAAAHGHGHGnfjnv....
This situation is just so uniquely fascinating to me because Pokemon is a franchise that - at least contemporarily - is known for it's extremely particular design guidelines and squeaky clean, on-model consistency when it comes to the PokƩmon designs. I refuse to believe this was ever an intended design choice for Jynx and that gamefreak just don't think anyone gives enough of a fuck about Jynx to ever notice this. Hell, maybe they didn't notice it themselves. Why this happened is likely never going to be brought to light, but at the very least, Jynx isn't in gen 9 so I don't have to look at it at all! ... for now...
Anyway, I hope this post has enlightened you and made you privy to something that makes an already unpopular PokƩmon even more unpopular. I'm usually never one to make elaborate posts like this but this piece of bizarre trivia pisses me off so much I just HAD to make a post about it. Send all of your complaints to gamefreak, thanks.

Hi, I'm the anon who asked "doom toxic yaoi". What I mean is : this pairing can have negative impact to each other, 'wrong time, right person' kinda thing, also doom by the narative.
Sorry I know that term mostly used for 80's & 90's BL pairing in BL manga or from shoujo (like CLAMP) that have tragic ending, but I see people used it for non-canon pairings in shounen, too....
And GoGe means Gojo as top (seme) and GeGo means Getou as the top (seme). Same with BkDk means Bakugou as top (seme) and vice versa.
For me, I don't mind if they're switching but I prefer top Gojo (GoGe) and top Midoriya (DkBk)....
Again, sorry for my rambling, and if you're not into seme/uke dynamics. It's just when I first enter SatoSugu fandom, one of the thing they asked is that, are you shipper for top Gojo or top Getou (the same when I asked for fics recs).
I mostly read BL manga/manhwa and danmei. But Gojo/Getou, Ash/Eiji and Bakugou/Midoriya are just special. Their stories are great and their dynamic with each other are amazing. And your blog specialize with them. Thanks so much for your blog @neonscandal .....
OKAY re: this ask, thanks for the clarification. Bearing that in mind, the phrase absolutely makes sense for that era as things were toxic as hell. It's giving Junjo Romantica lol
I think BakuDeku canonically makes each other better. They complement one another in how they think they're meant to be heroes and their competitiveness acts as a catalyst for their individual improvement. Over time, they've become way more cohesive but, at the onset it looked pretty dicey.
SatoSugu.. I think that may have been a one-sided improvement. Geto encouraged Gojo to be more humble and consider his responsibility toward the weak and, while I wonder if we'll get another side to the story as we did with Gojo, right now I would say that things were going well until they weren't. We could argue Gojo perhaps gave Geto more confidence but circumstances kinda dashed that, didn't they?
Never a need to apologize, my blog is literally all rambles šŸ˜… I'm very familiar with the seme/uke situation, just can't say I have a preference. I tend to emphasize boring, domestic bliss type of fluff so take that with a grain of salt haha

(Two things, 1. This is my first time requesting so I'm sorry if this is not the thing to do it, and 2. Sorry if somethings is misspelled or grammatically incorrect, eng is not my first language:p)
May I request some of the bros, specially Mammon, Luci and Satan, with a MC who's similar to Lucifer in some aspects (like, some of their manners are the same as his and sometimes they're little bit too strict) and after a while they discover that its bc MC is also an older sibling. And (only if you want) meeting their younger sibling, please šŸ™
Btw love your works ā™”ā™”ā™”
Lucifer Number 2~
(Feat. GN!MC and the Demon Bros)
āœ¦ āœ¦ āœ¦ āœ¦ āœ¦ āœ¦ āœ¦ āœ¦ āœ¦ āœ¦ āœ¦ āœ¦ āœ¦ āœ¦ āœ¦
Lucifer
It doesn't occur to Lucifer how similar the two of you are, but the first thing he realizes is how pleasant conversations with you can be. You both share common interests, your tastes suit his own, and you seem to be the only competent person in this house.
You're the responsible type, and he likes it. He'll sometimes find you scolding his brothers for their behavior too, and as amusing of a sight as that may be, he doesn't want you to be burdened with their idiocy.
AND you're the eldest sibling in your household? Cheers to that. You too know the weight of being the responsible oldest, and the role one must take to ensure their siblings grow up well. You too know that you'd rather your siblings have things easier than you did.
But there's one thing he finds annoying... You can NEVER speak your feelings, and act as if itā€™d kill you to do so. He can respect secrecy when it's appropriate, but Lucifer would like to know what's on your mind. Not only that, but you can be HORRIBLY headstrong. There's nothing that can stray you away from what you've already decided.
"MC, I request that you take a few days off from school to do as you please. I've already spoken with Diavolo and your professors, and you've been given an excuse. I know you'll study anyway, so I've dropped off your assignments in your room. But... you should rest. It isn't good for you to be pushing yourself so hard. Hm? You're calling me a hypocrite?"
Mammon
As if one Lucifer wasn't enough. Now there's TWO of em?! Why's his luck gotta be so lousy!
Definitely the first to realize how much like Lucifer you are, and was SHOOK. Seriously, what gives?! What horrors exist in the human world that could've made you like THAT..?
Ever since you showed up, it's been impossible to get away with anything! He can't sneak out of the house because you're always there somehow, you tattle on him when you catch him leaving anyone's room, and you won't even let him copy your homework! What gives?!
Avoids you like the plague. You're no fun! There's only rare moments when you're kinda okay, and he likes those the best. The times when you're kinda sensitive and you'll drop the high and mighty act. But then you're back to being a pest!
"For the billionth time, I ain't got time to study! There's money to be made, and a guy like me ain't gonna waste a second lookin' at a dumb book when I could be- H-Huh?! You're gonna call Lucifer?! N-now, there's no need to be so hasty, right? Oi!! I'm sorry, damn it-!"
Levi
What's the deal with Lucifer number two? As comedic of a trope as that may be, Levi doesn't really care for having two nagging types in the house. Especially a human...
When you're in his room, all you do is nitpick about how he should tidy up and open a window! Don't you know that an otaku's room is his pride and joy?! It's a sacred space not to be trampled on by the opinions of a normie!!!
But still... he has to admit that even if you don't get all the stuff he's talking about, you at least try to understand it. And there are even some of his interests that you're genuinely invested in!
You might be a pain in the neck and harass him about annoying things, but he guesses he can deal with it if you'll actually sit through a TSL marathon with him...
"I-I'll lend you this manga, so make sure you read it! And when you're finished with that, I'll lend you the spin-off series by the author's brother! I know you'll like it, since you're interested in gritty stuff. Oh, and- Huh? My laundry? Y-yeah.... I'll do that.."
Satan
You are... surprisingly good company. Satan enjoys talking to you over afternoon tea, and the two of you share stories between one another.
But still, he can't shake the feeling that there's something... unpleasantly familiar about your personality. It isn't until you say something that sounds suspiciously similar to what Lucifer would say that he realizes who you remind him of. And oh, he hates it.
Tries playing pranks on you, but somehow they never go to plan. How that is is beyond him, but you never fall for anything! No matter how sweet his smile, you're always rightfully suspicious. You're annoyingly meticulous about checking your surroundings, and you're so aware of yourself that it's troublesome! Be more gullible!!
The king of petty has decided that its now his life goal to make you fall for at least one of his pranks. He doesn't care how elaborate he has to make it, or how unrewarding the payoff may be. He'll make you pay for seeing his brother in two places at once.
"MC, would you like to join me this afternoon for a book reading? Though, I'd love it if you could read this book in particular. I think you'll find it very-.... Hm? 'Isn't this the cursed book that makes you grow hair all over your body', you ask? Ahaha.... tch."
Asmo
Come now, there can't be TWO killjoys in the house! That's way too depressing!! It was funny at first to see that there's someone who can match the scary Lucifer's energy, but now it's becoming a nuisance!
You won't even go to the countless parties he's invited you to! Hell, you barely even give yourself room to mess around a little? Isn't it boring being so tightly wound? You're in luck, because the adorable Asmo-chan knows the PERFECT way to let loose~
You'll RARELY let him close to you, and that's usually when you're tired of him harassing you. Then he gets the honor of playing with your hair while you've got no energy to fight back! He'll style it wonderfully for you!
Also nags you to take better care of yourself. You're not a demon, so you have to care for your health! These late night study sessions are giving you bags under your eyes! And stop taking on so many extracurricular activities!
"Geez, MC! I didn't think you'd die from overworking, but that's the path you're headed on! You really are like Lucifer, you know? That being said, I'll do my best to make sure you relax! Shall we begin~?"
Beel
Beel may not be too bothered by Lucifer's strictness, but that doesn't mean he's immune to it. To think that even a human can be like that...
It's nice to see that you can take care of yourself, but aren't you working too hard? Your grades are good and you've got many interesting talents, but you also have to properly rest.
Has started bringing you snacks on the regular. And don't even think about skipping meals, because he won't allow it. He'll literally pick you up and bring you to the table if he has to. And if you're staying up late to study? He'll carry you to bed. Don't try to protest.
Beel is your babysitter now and there's nothing you can do about it. It's good to be responsible, but don't think about trying to take care of everyone else if you can't care for yourself. Now eat these twelve meat buns he bought for you.
"MC, let's eat lunch together. I know you were going to skip because I heard you talking to Solomon earlier, and I won't let you. Ah, don't worry about not having money, because I've already bought you some lunch. Let's eat in the courtyard."
Belphie
NO.... IT CAN'T BE... THIS HAS TO BE A NIGHTMARE....HE WANTS TO WAKE UP....
You're such a drag. You harass him to attend student council meetings, but him about his studies, and won't let him avoid a single obligation he has. What are you, his mother?
Has 100% joined forces with Satan to try to make you fall for many, many unsuccessful pranks. Are you curse proof or something? When he tried a '10 hour bed-head' spell on you, it just rebounded right to him! Then he found out that you'd borrowed a spell repelling amulet from Solomon and realized just how prepared you are...
When you aren't bothering his entire soul by trying to make him do things, you're actually nice to talk to. You're knowledgeable, you pay attention to the people around you, and you can always read a room. He likes to ask you for advice sometimes.
"Aren't you tired of being like that all the time? So... attentive, I mean. You should just take a nap some time. Or better yet, take the week off. Maybe I'll teach you how to properly relax? Then you might finally be able to take that stick out of your- ow... What're you hitting me for?"

Ship Ranker
I'm ranking my fleet of ships! The list will span fandoms, so bear with me and wave from the piers (or jump aboard šŸ˜) while I organize my fangirl ravings into some semblance of order. Ranked from greatest to least, with honorable mentions.
Note: I use the words "pairing" and "ship" to differentiate two things. A "pairing" is a couple of characters with some canonical relationship (could be anything). A "ship" is a romantically or sexually involved couple that does not have to be canon.
The Fleet
Galleons (OTPs)
Tumblr media
Yes, I know there's technically only supposed to be one ship that's your One True Pairing, but I've got several and choosing between them is like choosing my favorite child. (My list, my rules.)
1. Tendershipping or Stockholmshipping (Bakura Ryou/Yami Bakura, Yu-Gi-Oh)
This ship is divine. It really has it all -- gothic themes, horror elements, toxicity with the capacity for romance -- and has captivated me for as long as I've been a Yu-Gi-Oh fan. It's probably what influenced some of my more interesting predilections (coughcough number 13 cough).
2. USUK, Special Relationship, or Joker (America/Britain, Hetalia)
I mean, it's basically canon.
But pissing off antis aside, it's great seeing this relationship develop and witnessing them being really intimate (meaning knowing each other well, not the other thing) in the show/comics, so how could I not? Plus, as an American I'm all too familiar with the Special Relationship.
3. Spamano or SpeRo (Spain/Romano, Hetalia)
Ditto, number 2. Except this one might actually be canon. Seriously, I'm preeeeetty sure Himaruya & Co. have long since discovered the fandom's love for this ship and have peppered it as slight fanservice. (Exhibit A: the April Fool's Day OVA.) My favorite refrain when it comes to this ship is, "Could you really see them with anyone else?"
---
Battleships (Top Ships)
Tumblr media
Ships I'll fight for.
4. Bronzeshipping (Marik Ishtar/"Yami" Marik, Yu-Gi-Oh)
This ship haunts me. It's dark and lovely and the pairing deserved way more attention in the show. My love for this ship stems from the observation that Yami Marik was created expressly to comfort and protect his lighter half, and despite wanting to excise him later, he still tries to carry out Marik's plan (i.e. kill the Pharaoh) despite no longer having to. Methinks there's some subconscious need drawing them together, and I stan.
5. AmeriPan (America/Japan, Hetalia)
I've recently fallen for this one. It's fun to write, even more fun to read, because of the sliding spectrum from angsty to fluffy. It started with the series pairing them off to demonstrate their friendship, then a realization that they're the paragon of "opposites attract." A large part of my love comes from @heta too, so kudos.
6. Yoreki (Yogi/Gareki, Karneval)
C'mon, just look at them. They're in love, your honor.
On a serious note, the manga goes out of its way to demonstrate the growing bond between these boys to the point of having significant consequences for the plot (in other words, their friendship fucks and then unfucks a lot of stuff). Do I think Tōya will actually ship them? No, but I can dream.
7. Starshipping (Yuki Jaden or Judai/Fudo Yusei, Yu-Gi-Oh)
Speaking of dreaming, I don't even know if this ship is allowed because these characters have never canonically met. Still, within the context of Bonds Beyond Time alone, they make the perfect pair. I'd have watched the entire movie with just the two of them, or better yet, a buddy-cop, scifi, action-adventure, card-game-playing movie where they have to save the world before prom.
On a serious note, their personalities balance each other out perfectly, and as @entamewitchlulu expertly demonstrated in "Hourglass of Stars," they can even exorcise each other's demons.
8. Stein/Spirit (Soul Eater)
No one can convince me that these two didn't have some intimate relationship beyond friendship. At the very least, Stein is attached to Spirit, so much so that he anchors Stein in his bouts of Madness. Plus, they snap back into partnership far too easily for two people who spent any amount of time apart not thinking about each other. All of that with a potential for toxic romance? Sign me the fuck up.
And I can't pretend tastewithouttalent didn't utterly convince me of their own canon.
9. Klance/Leith (Keith/Lance, Voltron: Legendary Defender)
They're in love, your honor.
Once again, a series goes out of its way to explore an intimate relationship between two, like, really compatible characters. So how could I not? (Also Leith is a way better ship name.)
10. Drarry (Draco Malfoy/Harry Potter, Harry Potter)
Because I'm basic and love a good rivals/enemies to lovers trope. Plus the fanfic has matured and refined over the years.
---
Cruise Liners (Fun Ships)
Tumblr media
Ships that I ride for the hell of it.
11. Tokitatsu/Tsukitachi/Hirato/Akari (Karneval)
This is just pure joy. I love the idea of the two of the people Hirato finds most annoying hooking up and dragging him into it. Same goes for Akari. Plus, this foursome is made up of two quality pairings (Tsukitachi/Hirato and Akari/Tokitatsu) as well as fan favorite ship Hirato/Akari. So fun for the whole family.
12. Drinnarry (Draco Malfoy/Ginny Potter/Harry Potter, Harry Potter)
Speaking of poly ships, this new love of mine is inspired by Cursed Child. Because did you really think Ginny was going to let Draco be lonely? Plus, Drarry is always fun.
P. S. I'm very proud of that ship name I just created.
13. Genkaku/Nagi (Deadman Wonderland)
Flashback to when I said I loved toxic ships:
It really has it all -- gothic themes, horror elements, toxicity with the capacity for romance [...]
This one is pretty bad, and I know it, and I adore it. The penchant for violent, possessive "love" in literature and fandom resonates with a deep part of my soul, and Genkaku's obsession with Nagi fits perfectly, like a fishook in an eye.
14. Jay/Dick (Jason Todd/Dick Grayson, Batman)
This was the ship that made me break my incest rule (Incest Rule: Don't Ship It). Technically they're adopted so it isn't incestuous, but it still feels too close. Still, Jason and Dick are, like, really good foils of each other (intentionally so, DC didn't want a second Robin who was just like the first), which leads to fantastic angst, resentment, violence, and humor. Throw some sexual tension on top and you're ready to set sail.
---
Tugboats (Necessary Ships)
Tumblr media
Ships I need to survive but don't think about often.
15. Destiel (Dean Winchester/Castiel, Supernatural)
Canon? Either way, this pairing has a famously tortuous build up, and I fell for it. My love for it peaked in Season 7, when Dean throws the Connect Four game off the table because he has Had It and wants Cas back to normal. The look on Castiel's face šŸ˜©
16. Marie/Azusa (Soul Eater)
Azusa clearly has a thing for Marie, and you can't tell me otherwise. Besides, my Stein/Spirit ship works out a thousand times better if this ship sails.
17. Dick/Kory (Dick Grayson/Kory'andr, Teen Titans)
Ironically, I hated this pairing way back when (even as a Teen Titans cartoon fan) because I wanted Dick and Barbara to get back together. However, DC's live action show Titans showed me the error of my ways. Of course, now I'm stuck hoping they get (back) together in season 3.
18. Scorbus (Scorpius Malfoy/Albus Potter, The Cursed Child)
I saw Cursed Child and just, like, adopted this one. It's kinda like Spamano -- probably not intended by the creator but makes waaaay too much sense to unsee.
19. Cyclops/Rogue (Scott Summers/Rogue, X-Men Evolution)
Old but gold. Probably one of my first ships, and appropriately for one of my favorite shows growing up. (X-Men Ev is easily the best X-Men series, don't @ me.) That field trip episode did it for me, as we see them finally open up to and trust each other. It's also fun to think about Scott chasing good girl Jean while infatuated with bad girl Rogue. We love irony.
20. Nightcrawler/Scarlet Witch (Kurt Wagner/Wanda Maximoff, Wolverine and the X-Men)
This was an okay series with really interesting premises and adaptations, not least of which was Magneto's Genosha, a mutant-only island nation. Kurt and Wanda just hit it off in their episode and I wondered if they could have depended on each other during that rough time. Lo and behold, I found out much later that they have a child in an alternate timeline in the comics, so maybe this ship holds more than ballast.
21. KagSan (Kagome/Sango, InuYasha)
I got it in my head one day and now it won't leave. I don't prefer it to the canon ships, but it's nice to fantasize about.
22. Sookie Stackhouse/Eric Northman (True Blood)
Eric was my favorite vampire (closely followed by Pam), and his fascination in Sookie pressed all the right buttons. Imagine my delight when they finally hooked up, and then my dismay when Sookie subsequently swears off vampires.
23. Violetshipping, formerly known as Puppyshipping (Seto Kaiba/Joey Wheeler)
I hate that I love this ship so much, so bottom of the list it goes. Still, it was the first one for which I wrote fanfic, and this pairing is canonically significant to the themes of the series. And what lit critic can resist that pull?
---
Ships in a Bottle (Honorable Mentions)
Tumblr media
Ships I admire but don't actively write or read. These are not ranked.
Kim Possible/Shego (Kim Possible)
In other words, When I Should Have Known I Was Bi.
Daryl/Carol (The Walking Dead)
Spawned from their bonding during and after the search for Carol's daughter. They've been close ever since (at least through season 7, which is where I stopped watching).
Amexico (America/Mexico, Hetalia)
Yes, I made up this ship name, too. First off, Mexico deserves to be a country in the show (although they were named in an episode, and I suppose that's progress). Second, this one is weird because it involves my headcanon for Mexico: a passionate woman who won't back down from a challenge and has a love/hate relationship with America. They bicker and pretend to hate each other but need one another for commerce and are sometimes very similar.
Accelerator/Misaka, (A Certain Scientific Railgun/Magical Index)
Call me System of a Down, I love toxicity. This pairing in general has the potential for a good complex relationship that helps them both mature. And should I sprinkle some possessive romance in there on Accelerator's behalf, I'm sure you'll forgive me.
---
And that's the fleet! So, are you ready to set sail with me? Or do you wanna see em sink?

My Top Ten Manga:
To go with my top ten anime list.
10. Otaku no Musume-san
Tumblr media
Here we have a manga that is about a girl who's always wanted to meet her father and discovers that he is a shameless otaku. Hijinks and adorable father/daughter affection ensues. There's weird character, cute characters, and a final act that is pretty messed up but this is a manga that I think is good from start to finish. It's a good read. It pulls at the heartstrings while making you laugh and it can even serve as a do/do not guide for all you otaku parents out there. XD
Favorite character: Kannau Yukimura
9. Air Gear
Tumblr media
This beautiful and heavily detailed stylish manga is about a world where skate-like contraptions known as Air Treks are used as a way to fly, get places, and build your own gang to own the skies. The art is gorgeous, the characters all mesh into a kind of gray area although there are some typical good guy/bad guys thrown in, and the series manages to evoke true feeling from the reader with how raw it can get. I highly reccomend. Favorite Character: Ringo Noyamano
8. InuYasha
Tumblr media
The manga that cemented my love for all things anime Inuyasha is the compelling fantasy tale of a half-demon and a young junior high girl. I can't express into words what an impact this manga made on me. The designs of the assortment of demons that are based on Japanese folklore and mythology, the tragic backstories so many of the main characters possess, the out of this world fight scenes, all the way to the incredible chemistry between Inuyasha and Kagome. It's hard to put down once you've started reading. The manga outshines the anime because it doesn't quite feel like it loses its pacing as the anime kept getting dotted with filler. It's interesting, dark in some places but never without a ray of light, and artwork that suits the story well. Favorite Character: Rin
7. Gunsmith Cats
Tumblr media
An oldie but goodie. We've got guns, muscle cars, and hot chicks, all in above average detail. Don't waste time with the anime, the manga is where this story of bounty hunter/police officer Rally Vincent and her partner Minnie-May really shines with explosive fun. Mature and loaded with everything from kidnapping to drugs to high speed car chases I have to say that I make it a point of rereading this series often. I've yet to find another that I enjoy as much as this one for this particular genre. Favorite Character: Rally Vincent.
6. Buso Renkin
Tumblr media
I'm a big fan of manga that doesn't force a simple storyline to be stretched over fifty volumes. Ten volumes was the perfect size for the story of Katsuki Mutou as he is accidently thrown into the world of alchemy and humunculous. This is a complete manga by the creator of Rurouni Kenshin that I think really emphasizes Watsuki's strength as a shounen manga author who can take so many shounen tropes and make them work almost effortlessly. It didn't need to be ground breaking because it wasn't trying to be. It's an honestly good manga from start to finish with one of the most memorable anti-hero's I've ever read. Favorite Character: Papillon
5. My Little Monster
Tumblr media
I'm not the biggest shoujo manga fan like I used to be but I will say that My Little Monster is a great way to change the formula. None of the characters acted the way I expected. They are all weird and extreme in the most interesting of ways while still capturing the uncertainty and naivete that teens suffer from. It's really difficult to dislike any of the characters. They're all so likeable although Natsume will probably make you grind your teeth because that girl is insane. A must read for any shoujo manga fan. Favorite Character: Sohei Sasahara.
4. Fushigi Yugi Genbu Kaiden
Tumblr media
I like shoujo manga that doesn't just focus on romance. Genbu Kaiden is the prequel to Fushigi Yugi and I have to say it's better in every way. It's a lot more balanced, mixing the romance into a beautiful but sad story, unforgettable characters, action scenes that really emphasis the importance of the plot, while all being accomplished with the ridiculously gorgeous Yu Watase art style. Another must read for any shoujo fan. Favorite Character: Takiko Okuda
3. Rurouni Kenshin
Tumblr media
There was no way this manga wasn't going to make the list. Unlike the anime this manga is outstanding from start to finish. For me this is the ultimate in sword fighting. The visuals are exactly what you want from samurai dueling and there's never a dull moment. The cast is one of the best in my opinion and I love that the narrative never bores me even when they're just explaining fighting styles or attacks. Watsuki's distinct shounen style is a favorite of mine. The evolution of Himura Kenshin is the plot and its worth every panel. Read the final arc of you can. It's amazing.. Favorite Character: Kamiya Kaoru
2. Chrono Crusade
Tumblr media
I will make a rant about this manga later because I will fight for this series until the day I die. Do no watch the anime. Even though I bought each dvd and have watched them over twenty times at least, the anime does the manga NO justice. Eight volumes, all inspiring story telling. Chrono Crusade starts in such a way that you think it may be a lighthearted story of a gun-toting 'nun' and her demon sidekick but it quickly evolves into so much more. Rosette and Chrono are a duo the you will root for from page one as they fight demons, friends, and everything else that stands in their way to fix the damage that was done so many years ago. Another series that accomplishes a complete story in ten volumes or less which keeps the plot from being unnecessarily stretched. It evokes so much feeling, making you relate to the characters in such a way while still powering through the story because this is a tale about time. By the end you'll find yourself a little less able to take your time for granted as you cry for these characters that have an ending that you can take as either good or bad. I always put this one at the top of my must read list and it holds a very special place in my otaku heart. I'm disappointed that such an intense manga did not get a proper anime adaption though I do understand why. Favorite Character: Chrono
1. Detective Conan
Tumblr media
Anyone who knows me should have expected this. Lol. Detective Conan for me is the ultimate manga. The award winning mystery series is an ongoing manga that never fails to impress. It's familiar while evolving with us so it has a loyal fanbase made up of twenty year veteran fans to new ones every day and the number just keeps growing. High school detective Kudo Shinichi is the pride of Tokyo Japan before he stumbles across a mysterious transaction involving a pair of men clothed in black. He's discovered and force fed a drug that instead of killing him, reverts his body to that of a seven year old. He retains his adult mind and begins hiding his identity while going by the name Edogawa Conan and solving mysteries through his childhood friend's father's detective agency. The story takes off from there. The series is vast, featuring over 1000 chapters, over 20 movies, over 50 seasons, dozens of OVA's and specials including live action, and being featured in multiple ways throughout Japan. It even has its own museum in Gosho Aoyama's hometown. While not for everyone, especially those thrown off by the sheer amount of content, Detective Conan is a series that is loved by all ages all over the world and has been here since the early 90's for a reason. It has become my reason for living and it will never leave my #1 spot. Favorite Character: Kudo Shinichi (for life!)
As I have said before I gauge a series on its ability to draw me in, keep me attached, and talent for making me come back.
