Culture, parallels & meta - S3 E1
Previous season Prologue: Vlogs (1) - Vlogs (2)
°
Zaterdag 21:43
The time lapse already showing us a string of places that will be important later, like the dark alley, the Meir with Noor’s workplace, the university neighborhood, the Scheldt river where the boys hang out, ...
Perfect parallel:
The second season starts Zoë’s POV with a (washing machine) door, whilst the third opens with a door to a party that Robbe attends.
Robbe glances back at Noor passing through the shot this episode, an action he repeats when he spots Sander in the second episode. - A very subtle hint to where his love life may lead.
The first one starts with two unknown LGBT+ girls kissing at a party, the last episode shows two known LGBT+ boys (Sobbe) kissing at their own party.
The aerial shot through the floor to introduce us to Robbe’s POV here and the aerial shot through the roof to say goodbye to him in the last episode.
Moyo saying “No one would do you” to Aaron in this episode, Aaron realizing “No one here wants to do me!” in the last.
Where’s Wally? Noor greeting Marie, accompanied by Jana and Britt. Max dancing with Keisha in the crowd.
How ‘meta’ of you: Newsflash, yes you are!
Tumblr media
Nod to the OG:
The deliberate messy POV: following everyone that we know already and then slowly settling on the Isak version in a tub.
Robbe saying Noor looks like ‘Natalie Portman’, which is what people said to the OG Emma when they flirted with her. Everyone, except Isak, that is.
Oop, there it is, the homophobia / heteronormativity: Moyo keeps pressuring Robbe into explaining what type of girl he likes. The boys laugh it off when he answers that ‘he doesn’t have a type’.
Lost in translation: Moyo mocks Noor’s Dutch accent, making his ‘g’ and ‘st’ sound harsher, while also adding ‘hoor’ at the end - a typical word used by the Dutch to emphasize a point.
Blink-and-y’ll-miss-it: Jens is playing with the weed bag. Keisha is one of the girls that Moyo mentions as Jens’ ex-girlfriend or ex-fling. Not only did Noor nót flush the toilet, but she didn’t used any toilet paper either!
°
Zaterdag 22:44
C is for culture:
Noor rescuing Robbe on her scooter - In Belgium, you’re allowed to drive a moped or scooter once you’ve reached the age of 16. Nothing is needed if the vehicle doesn’t go above 25 km/h. If it stays between the range of 25-45 km/h and max. 50 cc, you need to pass a theoretical exam, 4 hours of driver’s ed and a practical exam to get the license. Anything other than that, has a whole new set of restrictions, types of driver’s licenses and minimum ages.  Noor and Robbe are, however, still breaking the law. As long as you’re not 18, you’re not allowed to have an extra passenger with you. Especially if they’re not wearing a helmet. (Plus they ignored a red light. Those rebels!)
“You do know that you always have to have it with you?” - The Belgian law states that everyone above age twelve, has to get an ID to identify themselves. Some might have had a Kids-ID already - for travel purposes - but that’s not mandatory. However, once you're fifteen years old, you’re obligated to carry your ID with you at all times.
Perfect parallel:
Luca being all jealous whilst staring at Noor and Robbe making out in S3, her glaring at Maud and Robbe every chance she got in the last season.
Robbe and Noor having fun on the scooter while screaming and Robbe filming their adventure in this episode. Robbe and Sander doing a similar thing, but on their bikes in a later episode.
Wink to other remakes: Robbe sporting a brown jacket. (Eliott, anyone?)
Surprise bitch, guess who: It’s Willem Chanterie, the on-set costume designer and social media production assistant!
Tumblr media
Blink-and-y’ll-miss-it: Noor has a ‘Fuck Trump’ sticker on her helmet. Robbe says “Hey, it’s red” in a very clear Antwerp accent.
°
Zaterdag 23:11
Hello from the outside: The garbage truck they sprayed, still drove around the city regularly. The art piece itself is named ‘#Genoeg mama' (= ‘#Enough mommy’). It blames the consumer society as toxic, making young people its victim.
Oopsie: Inside the graffiti den, Noor suddenly sports a tote bag with supplies, even though we never saw her wearing that in the previous shots.
Blink-and-y’ll-miss-it: Noor has black combat boots. The photographer is obviously Sander, in case you have missed that subtle clue.
°
Zondag 13:41
Lost in translation/Oop, there it is, the homophobia / heteronormativity:
“Check die pekie’s”. The word ‘pekie’ is actually Amsterdam slang for ‘beautiful girl, girlfriend’. In recent years, more and more Dutch slang are making their way into the Flemish dialect, because of the Dutch rap songs gaining popularity with the youngsters.
“Vamos, flikkers”. The word ‘flikkers’ can mean ‘wussie’ as well as a derogatory term for ‘homosexual’. Again establishing the fact that the boys use a lot of homophobic or toxic words for each other.
Robbe’s clumsiness meter: +1, him tossing the bag behind Jens instead of into his hands.
Blink-and-y’ll-miss-it: There is a football right next to the skateboards.
°
Maandag 16:04
C is for culture: “The whole art school was talking about it” -
Secondary school is divided in four sections: general, technical, art and vocational. Which section you choose can have effect on further education. In one of these sections, you pick what you want to study from your first to last year (‘directions’). That means that you have some courses purely focused on the direction and others that are obligated for everyone, regardless.
Art high schoolers can choose to go to work or study a specialization afterwards. Their coursework isn’t solely art based, there are general required courses too. That’s why some foreigners - including the Dutch - come to Belgium, since they’ll get a more rounded and higher level of art education than in their countries. ‘de!KUNSTHUMANIORA’ is the high school in Antwerp Noor goes to and is known for having students with unique styles.
Perfect parallel:
Noor waiting outside the school for Robbe and him reacting somewhat confused here, Sander doing the same and having an instantly happy Robbe in a later episode.
Robbe having no problem kissing a girl ‘as a straight guy’ in front of the gates in this episode and scared for what might happen if he kissed a boy ‘as a gay guy’ later on.
Blink-and-y’ll-miss-it: The insta caption underneath the art work says ‘An inspirational message on a Sunday! Just discovered this in Antwerp city today. Artist unknown... Can you remember when you last called on your mother?’ (That last sentence, oooofff, the symbolism!)
Tumblr media
°
Dinsdag 14:57
C is for culture:
“Yes, mini enterprises are so chill.” - Mini enterprises are often used as a tool for Economics in the fifth/sixth year. The goal of these is to ‘learn whilst doing it’. Like the name specifies, mini enterprises are actual miniature companies set up by a group of students. During the school year, they’ll try to work together on commercializing a product. All aspects of entrepreneurship are at play here: writing a business plan, holding meetings, doing bookkeeping, marketing the product, produce and sell it, ... If the enterprise idea is good or well executed, it might even win a national prize by the company making this education formula.
“What if he contacts child protection services” - Actually, those services doesn’t really exist in Belgium. There are, however, other youth organizations for these types of things, like JAC - Youth Advice Centre, CLB - Centre for Student Guidance and the Centre for Mental Healthcare.
Perfect parallel: The boys hyping Aaron up to walk over to Amber and talk to her - yet he fails in this episode, them doing the same and he succeeds (after some fails) in the last episode.
Oop, there it is, the homophobia / heteronormativity: Jens saying “Damn, seems like someone is on his fucking period”, after Robbe snaps at him due to the difficult telephone call with his dad.
Lost in translation: Jens saying “Mijn kop staat er niet naar” (= “My head’s not standing there”) can actually mean different things: I’m not in the mood, it’s not the right time, I don't want to do it, my head’s all over the place, ... It depends on the context, on which interpretation would suit the situation the best.
Blink-and-y’ll-miss-it: The girls are all fawning all over Britt’s cellphone, so there is a good chance that they’re discussing (pictures of) her boyfriend, Sander. Also, Jana’s braces are gone!
°
Donderdag 17:13
Perfect parallel: Robbe stating that he can’t talk to his dad or he’ll fight and Zoë getting that, as she said a similar thing to an understanding Senne about her parents in S2.
How ‘meta’ of you: Ah, yes, fandom ship names in SKAM. We applaud!
Tumblr media
Oopsie: If you look really hard, you see that the body type and hair of Robbe’s dad, doesn’t correspond with the version waiting at the restaurant later on.
Wink to other remakes: This shot reminding you of a certain S3 trailer?  👀
Tumblr media
Blink-and-y’ll-miss-it: The numerous references to Zoënne’s relationship in their room (relationship pics, Senne’s guitar). The paper Milan gifts to Robbe is the written permission by his parent to live with them, as is obligated by law.
°
Vrijdag 20:04
Perfect parallel:
Senne pulling Zoë up after a kiss here, just like with their first kiss in S2.
Robbe pushing Milan away after thinking he wanted to kiss him at the party in S2, them hugging it out in after talking about it in S3.
Blink-and-y’ll-miss-it: Zoë and Milan making some healthy party snacks like cauliflower and cocktail sauce, cheese with tomatoes and salami squares. She pulls back the bottle of gin that Milan wants to steal. Senne also bought paprika and tortilla chips from Colruyt (a discount store).
°
Vrijdag 20:54
C is for culture: “Noor, Robbe’s girlfriend” - (Teen) dating culture is different in Belgium. Usually, if you have kissed, hung out, texted or just said/did something to show your mutual interest, you’d pretty much consider yourself in a relationship. It can go from 0 to 100 very quick. Unless there is, of course, an agreement that what you’re doing is no such thing. Also, nobody really ask you to be their gf/bf. It just implied or stated to their family or friends.
Perfect parallel:
A reluctant Robbe pushing himself to do stuff to Noor (playful dancing, kissing, riling her up) as far as putting his hands on her bra here. A totally different, excited Robbe not even thinking twice about doing these things to Sander, even licking his nipple during their reunion.
Noor pushing Robbe on the bed and climbing over him, whilst Robbe looks all sad in this episode. Him pushing Sander on the bed and being happy as Sander crawls over him during their reunion.
Oop, there it is, the homophobia / heteronormativity: Robbe tries to convince himself into liking heterosexual sex with Noor and fake laughs with his friends about having it.
Where’s Wally? Keisha laughing with Amber and later dancing with Marie.
Blink-and-y’ll-miss-it: Jens is talking to Senne. The decorations behind Milan saying ‘Welkom Robbe’ (= ‘Welcome Robbe’). Noor has a beautiful tattoo of a pin-up girl covered with butterflies on her lower arm.

Besides Sander and Robbe, how do you think our other lovely Isaks and Evens are doing during these times?
Ohhh that’s the cutest question!
I think that with the exception of Robbe/Sander and Cris/Joana, in my mind, all of the others are together!
Eliott and Lucas/Isak and Even live together. Matteo is 100% staying with David and his sister. Marti and Nico are staying together as (in my mind and I guess we will find out soon!!!) he got his grandma’s flat and they spend a ridiculous amount of time there together anyway (although I also don’t know if Marti would want to leave his Mamma? So I’m torn)
I think the ones most affected would be Cris and Joana... 100%. They have insanely busy social lives, they’d miss each other, they’d feel very cooped up and would be unbearable.
Aside from Sander and Robbe who are clearing pining like mad, I reckon the rest would be great! I think they’d love being forced to be together 24/7 because they’re all gross and they love spending time together.
It’s an awful situation and there are very few positives but I think Nico would be completely thrilled at the fact he and Marti can have so much time to do stuff together. I just see him being pretty giddy because he always wants to do stuff with Marti and I bet he’d want to teach him things and to do creative stuff together. Marti would complain a bit and pretend he’s not down for it even if he really really was and then he’d love every minute. I think he might struggle once it’s all over and he maybe doesn’t have Marti around all of the time, it could be a double edged sword. Plus, Nico is 100% playing that piano from his balcony for his neighbours as Marti pretends to be embarrassed but the videos the whole thing on his phone and is proud as hell. The boys would all miss each other so much but they’d have online video chats near constantly and they’d so quizzes and online gaming a LOT.
David and Matteo are made for this. There’s no way they’d be phased by this at all. David may miss going out and exploring but he’d take time to work on his creative projects and Matteo would seriously relish the fact he doesn’t need to go outside!
I think Even may struggle being restricted and forced to be inside so I think he might find some moments a bit rough and might need to get out for a walk every day if he can because their flat is small and he feels cooped up. But he LOVES having Isak to himself, loves spending time just the two of them. They like to do gross domestic stuff together but then also Even will come up with silly things for them to do, they will have movie nights and Even will want to show Isak every movie he’s ever wanted to introduce him to. Isak will love having Even all to himself and will happily kick him out of the kitchen so he can make some food for them and they can eat it together on their balcony with all their favourite songs on in the background to watch the sunset
Eliott and Lucas are gross so they’d be no different. Eliott would also struggle a bit, like Even, with the idea of being cooped up. He’s an explorer, he likes his job and I am guessing he gets a lot from that so he’d miss it, he wouldn’t like the idea that if he wanted to clear his mind then he could... so I think Lucas would recognise that pretty quickly and maybe plan to help with going for a walk or doing something outside as much as they could possibly allow and then, if they couldn’t, then I think they’d try to do stuff to keep them occupied. I love his idea that they use that guitar in their flat and Lucas plays piano and have these little private musical moments. Eliott will start drawing and drawing and creative little quarantine comic books of their experiences which Lucas will try to put into some order so he can remember the experience. They will bake together and have movie nights and will get ridiculously drunk together one night and do batshit stuff.
Robbe and Sander though, are going to be UNBEARABLE when quarantine is over. Full on disgusting and ridiculous and I love them for it. It is madness that they’re managing to be apart anyway... I’m v proud of them! How Sander hasn’t shimmied Robbe’s drain pipe in the middle of the night is beyond me...

Evak Fics - Music
Music au:
** Band/Singer/Musician ** Instruments ** Karaoke ** Others
***** Band/Singer/Musician *****
Suavis et decorum sicut Jerusalem by champagneleftie (2.6k words) - Pulchra es, amica mea. He can never sing it without thinking of Even. Which is ridiculous, because he doesn’t actually know Even. Has barely spoken more than a handful of words to him. Can hardly even look at him. And still he just won’t leave Isak be. Choir au
Not A Fan by glbertblythes (2.7k words) - Eva drags Isak to a local gig at a bar but Isak isn't all that interested in going nor is he interested in the band - but the lead guitarist pulls some strings for Isak the whole night.
Love Of My Life by catathena (2.8k words) - Set in the late 1970s, "50 Kroner" are trying to make it big in the rock scene. Will the boys make it on their own? Or will a mysterious stranger named Even be their missing piece? Rock band
DKLA (Don't Keep Love Around) by dobrien (10k words) - Isak is an up and coming artist dating his highschool sweetheart, Chris. Even is a little jealous. Inspired by Troye Sivan songs.
written in the stars by ourlovelybones (17k words) - Isak is very tired, but it’s still not the right word to explain the heavy feeling in his bones and the empty weight in his heart. He should be over the moon right now. He should be dancing with Even to the venue’s after-show playlist and drinking beer to celebrate his best friend agreeing to finish out the rest of his U.S tour with him. It’s more than exhaustion he feels but Isak can’t quite describe exactly what it is - and certainly not to the person who took a whole two weeks off of work to come on this tour. The one where even follows isak around on tour but isak doesn't want to deal with his feelings. Musician Isak
you're gonna sing the words wrong by strangetowns (31k words) - He looks like someone stuck together a bunch of parts they thought looked good on their own and expected the result to look like a person, with no sense of what an actual person looks like. A marching band AU.
Come On, Set the Tone by boxesofflowers, Eeyoreneedsahug (57k words) - Isak is a recently out popstar who wants to prove that he is not just another pretty face in pop music. Even is a self contained, indie singer songwriter who takes shit from nobody. Shortly after a public feud between the two begins, they’re forced together for a nationwide tour.
Twice by intothewind (101k words) - “I told them we were dating, so they’d let me in their band.” Jonas states, shrugging his shoulders. Isak and Jonas fake date which then makes things complicated between them. And then there's Even, the lead singer, which complicates things even more. Threesome. Angsty.
(WIP) Wireless by ChrisJordyn (15k words) 5/6 chapters posted - Even leans into Isak’s side. He feels so nice. And warm. His hair against his neck. The sound of his breath. It’s heaven. He hasn’t felt this safe in ages. That’s when The Thought pops back into in his mind. "What if I’m gay?" The church band 5+1 au
(WIP) we are made up of love and hate by everythingislove (straykid), puddingandpie (42k words) - Last update July 2018. The one where Isak joins his best friends on their first North American tour and definitely does not fall for Even Bech Næsheim, their infuriating(ly handsome) opening act.
(WIP) Bassline by riyku (59k words) 12/16 chapters posted - Isak is a Norwegian ex-pat, fresh out of NYU with a journalism internship, who bags an assignment covering a band from his former hometown of Oslo on their first North American tour. It takes him about three seconds to realize he kinda has a thing for the bass player. riyku is brilliant!
***** Instruments *****
you can tell everybody (this is your song) by withoutwords (713 words) - Isak’s fumbling at the frets of Even’s guitar, the blunt lines of his fingernails scratching at the wood.
how i'm feeling by boxesofflowers, Eeyoreneedsahug, safficwriter (1.3k words) - A hungover boy squad watches Isak and Even flirt through a guitar lesson.
O Helga Natt by ichliebeskam (1.5k words) - Even gives Isak a guitar lesson but Isak is grumpy because he doesn’t get it. This and a little more
Heart and Soul by wordsarelifealways (1.5k words) - Jonas asks why Isak never plays piano any more. Naturally, it leads to him playing again.
If Not For You by minutebyminute2121 (1.7k words) - Isak walks the same way to work everyday as part of his habitual routine. That is until one day his usual route is obstructed by a closed road and he has to walk a different way and gets distracted by a certain boy playing guitar.
Just B♮ by Jules1398 (2.3k words) - Isak knows nothing about guitars and somehow he finds himself working in a store that sells them. Well, at least there's the hot guy that always comes in and plays while he's on shift.
Someday You Will Find Me Caught Beneath a Landslide by AlasBohn (4.4k words) - Isak's neighbor plays his guitar every night. Isak falls asleep to it every night until he doesn't.
And that's my song, unheard by Anonymous (8.4k words) - Isak is a second year at Nissen, and he's also a violinist at the local music school. The day a new pianist arrives is the day his world is rocked off its axis.
Just two boys and a piano by depressed_mermaid_53 (8.5k words) - Even just started a new art school and there's a beautiful boy that no one talks to. Even is completely enthralled by him the second he sees him. or Isak plays piano and Even suddenly has a love for listening to piano music
Evoke by TheGirlNoOneKnows5 (16k words) - Isak and Even are roommates attending the Norwegian Academy of Music. Isak is an enigma until their sleepless nights are no longer spent alone. Pianist Isak. Guitarist Even.
Play That Song by kapplebougher (41k words) - Every day, Even catches a boy in a snapback who sneaks in to play the piano at the summer camp Even works at. Even's never seen him before. But if the boy's good looks hadn't already captivated him, then his phenomenal piano-playing ability certainly has. Even doesn't know much about love at first sight, but he thinks that this is pretty close.
The boy next door by Zabn (110k words) - Isak looks at Jonas, hoping the blush has already disappeared from his cheeks, he nervously scratches his neck. Fuck, did Jonas notice that he was staring at his new neighbor? Even plays the guitar and sings.
(WIP) tell me what you see by whalefairyfandom12 (8.3k words) - Last update Feb 2019. Isak is a pianist. It's who he is, and sometimes it feels like that's all that's left. At first, Even is nothing more than the asshole who stole his practice room--a film major with a surprising passion for music. There's something undeniable about his charm, though, and the more time they spend together the harder it is to ignore.
***** Karaoke *****
Bright Eyes by boxesofflowers, Eeyoreneedsahug (857 words) - Isak is a great singer. Several people are surprised. Happy karaoke where nothing hurts and Isak sings to his boyfriend.
i'll be coming for your love by ihatefindingusernames (1k words) -  Isak and Even meet in a karaoke bar
Ready to Jingle Your Bells by MacksDramaticShenanigans (3.5k words) -  Even did sing him a song, and what kind of a boyfriend would he be if he didn’t serenade Even right back?
***** Others *****
(for when they are not musicians or music is not the focus...)
it boy by spoopydumpling (445 words) - Even serenades Isak with a special song
not the kind of fool who's gonna sit and sing to you by hippopotamus (1k words) - Isak doesn't sing, and Even doesn't get surprised by Isak anymore. Actually, neither of those statements is true.
I don't want to miss a thing. by glbertblythes (1.2k words) - Songfic based on i don't want to miss a thing by aerosmith. Very sappy.
Stjerner Lyser Skinnende by MacksDramaticShenanigans (2.4k words) - Their daughter plays the violin for an orchestra.
Who Wore What by wyoheartsmusic (2.9k words) - Even is a fashion blogger that has some things to say about a certain singer's outfit choices
Defying Gravity (Britain's Got Talent) by nessauepa (4.3k words) - Their daughter goes on Britain's Got Talent. It's super sweet.
No Rain, No Roses by Fxckxxp (23k words) - Isak and Even restore a house together and make it a home. Even plays the guitar every now and then (probably not enough as a focus to justify putting it on this list but this fic is so good).
tell him that his lonesome nights are over by fauu_stine (25k words) - After their mother's death, Isak and Lea have to leave Oslo to join their father, who's living with his new girlfriend, Aurora, and her own son, a young man named Even. Singer Even.
i would like to get to know you baby by ourlovelybones (39k words) - Isak wakes up to ten strange texts from Eskild and three missed calls from his manager. He's almost worried someone has died until the screenshot comes in. Even Bech Næsheim had tweeted about him. AU in which Even is an internationally famous singer and Isak is an up and coming model he finds on twitter, a.k.a based off of the iconic Zara Larsson

13, 15 and 17 for the would you rather Druck game💜
Hi there! Love the game btw. 💛
13. Would you rather: be able to play the guitar like Jonas or be able to rap like Carlos/Essam?
I have loved hip hop pretty much since I was introduced to it. Fun fact, one of the reasons I got invested into Skam quickly was because Isak and Even listened to rap. But I’m terrible at it, even worse than Omar’s hip hop verses for his brother from another mother Mohammed. So I would choose be able to rap like Carlos and Essam.
15. Would you rather: have more bts footage or some deleted scenes? (Like the ones Anselm mentioned)
So, while I love Druck very much, some of the deleted scenes we know about have a strong DEAD DOVE DO NOT EAT vibe to them, like the s2 kiss between Jonas and Matteo, or however Jonas and Hanna were going to get together in s3 that was cut for the Stefan plot in s4. I also love Samstag 20:55 as it is, and I feel like a minute of Matteo being clumsy in between would’ve thrown off the vibe they went with for that clip. Also, once the fandom has access to the scenes, even in script format, they become canon or at least canonical enough that fanartists feel obligated to acknowledge them. So, as much as I would love to see more of my favorite characters, I’m going to go with BTS footage, simply because I don’t want to open that Pandora’s box.
17. Would you rather: have to re-take a spanish exam like Matteo, a german exam like Hanna or a history exam like Carlos?
My first language is Spanish, so I’ll resit the abi for Matteo, and maybe he can resit the history abi for Carlos, lol. I like where Carlos ended up eventually, but I feel bad he never properly graduated high school.

Skam season 3, episode 7 reaction
AKA The One Where The Boy Squad Saved the Day
Episode 7 of season 3 is simpler compared to other episodes, artistically speaking - for most of it, there’s no slow motion, no big music moments, or any other Skam hallmarks. That is, until Even’s dramatic ass shows up at the very end. Which is quite fitting, in a way.
SEASON 3, EPISODE 7 - “Are you gay?”
Clip 1 - Eskild becomes Isak’s guru
Eskild tries to help Noora get over William by showing her the wonders of Tinder. I don’t know if his distaste for William in S4 was something Julie invented that season, as maybe a nod to the part of the audience who did not care for William or Noorhelm, but in-universe I would buy Eskild developing that grudge against Willy around this time. I don’t think he quite knew how much of her S2 angst was William-related, considering she wasn’t an open book and she was dealing with assault-related trauma as well. Here he knows she’s hurting for reasons directly to do with William.
Noora liked the guy on Tinder with the guitar, awww. William apparently had a guitar, as we saw during the More Than Words scene, but he was never shown playing it or talking about music.
“I just think you’re the kind of person who always has to do the right thing. You always have to be so good.” Hmmm, this says a lot about what Eskild thinks of Noora and her role in Kollektivet. Although I think in this case it mostly has to do with what Eskild says a moment later, about how everyone knows William isn’t going to come back. He really doesn’t think William will return for her and believes Noora is limiting herself by waiting for him. Just because Noora will wait for William doesn’t mean William will wait for her (which ... may have been true, it’s never clear in S4).
While watching this clip in real time, I wondered if, with all these moments reminding us that William is gone, Thomas wouldn’t come back for like a cameo in this season finale. Regardless of my personal feelings on the ship, Julie spent a full season on Noorhelm, and since there were Evak/Noorhelm parallels this season, if Evak ended up together, then Noorhelm would get some closure, right? It was actually a little surprising that she would tank her OTP like that without a hint of his return.
Noora is making tea in a Star Wars mug. Is that her mug, or someone else’s? Who’s the Star Wars fan in the flat? Tbh ever since Eskild made that Warhammer reference in the first episode, I kind of like the idea of him having sci-fi/fantasy nerd tendencies. Imagine if Kollektivet had a tabletop game night, omg.
Isak has a little smile for just a fraction of a second at Eskild’s dramatics over the Noorhelm saga.
Eskild is really tired of Isak apologizing for the gay pride incident. I think once he got some distance from the situation, he remembered that Isak is young and just coming out, and not perfectly educated on all issues regarding to the LGBT community. Eskild himself likely made some similar mistakes when he was younger and newly out of the closet. Life is a learning process, there’s no point where any of us reach Mount Woke and forevermore say the right thing and hold all the right opinions about issues of social justice.
Also, at a certain point you just want people to stop saying sorry for their mistakes, because you’ve stopped caring about what they did and just want to move on. And sometimes it becomes more about the person saying sorry than the person they hurt, though I don’t think that’s the case here with Isak. But I do think Isak just does not want Eskild mad at him. He realizes he messed up and hurt someone close to him, someone that he frankly needs during this sensitive time in his life, and who already has done so much for him.
It’s hilarious how Eskild’s annoyed mood does a 180 once Isak says he needs some advice. Those are the magic words. Eskild is a dude who really, really wants to nurture others and take them under his wing. He wants to help. And he likes the idea of being Isak’s mentor. Of course there’s the satisfaction of having his opinion listened to and valued, but he also gets to help out a gay kid who’s not as sure of himself as Eskild. Really makes you wonder whether Eskild had his own guru or whether he had to go it alone - if this is a “pay it forward” situation, or if he’s telling Isak the things he wishes someone would have told him.
It’s kind of hard to think about long-term future headcanons for Skam since it existed so firmly in its present, but I love the idea that Eskild would become a counselor for troubled youth or LGBT teens or something like that.
This is also just delicious payback, because asking for help shows Isak does look up to Eskild and respects his opinion, which is what Eskild wants. It’s really fun as Carl Martin stretches out Isak’s request, playing with him. Messing with Isak is probably more satisfying than another apology. Meanwhile Isak rolls his eyes in peak bratty teenage mode. (Tarjei gives some first-rate bratty teenage face in this scene.)
Here’s the immortal guru line, ha! Didn’t Carl Martin improvise this part?
It’s really nice that Isak felt he could go to Eskild with this concern, though. Coming out to Jonas made him relax a little bit, but Jonas can’t quite understand the specific scenario of being a gay guy (or pan guy in Even’s case) and having relationship drama. There are some factors in Isak and Even’s situation that could be influenced by them being two guys instead of a straight couple, so now Isak wants the input of another gay guy. Still, Isak is mostly looking at the ground while he openly admits his concerns about this thing with Even. He’s very vulnerable, getting it all out there. And honestly, he’s indicating to Eskild that this isn’t just a casual thing with Even - he’s invested in it, otherwise would he be so confused and upset about Even going back to his girlfriend? They weren’t just hooking up, Isak thought they were going to be together.
You can see the mention of “girlfriend” being the thing that sticks out to Eskild, and Isak noticing that and starting to get worried.
I really like this exchange where Eskild asks Isak how honest he wants him to be, and Isak says, “Maybe not too honest,” at first, then changes his mind and asks for the whole truth. That’s such a good little moment because you can see that Eskild wants to protect Isak’s feelings but also doesn’t want to give him false hope or lie to him. He’s really looking out for Isak’s best interests. And Isak doesn’t want to hear the harsh truth at first, which is real and vulnerable, but then he figures he better hear it anyway, which is a mark of maturity.
Look at the bucket of cold water splashed over Isak when Eskild tells him not many guys leave their girlfriends for a guy. This is like the episode opener from episode 4 all over again, except opposed to what Eskild said to Noora - “There are people who leave their wives and families to be with the ones they love.” It’s interesting because he’s talking from a more personal perspective here, as a gay man, rather than Noora’s issue with her het relationship, and his take is more cynical.
Though even with Noora, Eskild was trying to soften the blow - it was clear he thought William was out of the picture for good, going off how he kept mentioning how Noorhelm had broken up despite Noora’s protests. Similarly, Eskild doesn’t want to let Isak down too much, he wants to qualify that he’s not God or Buddha, this is just his opinion … but he also can’t bring himself to openly lie (in his opinion) to Isak and tell him it’s going to work out fine.
Nothing like Eskild asking if his advice was helpful when Isak’s hope is draining fast, and the clip just ending there.
So I remember there was criticism of Eskild’s advice/POV here, and while I understand why because his advice is flawed and he ends up being wrong about Even, obviously, I think it’s important to keep in mind Eskild is coming from a very specific, very personal perspective, where he’s meeting guys on Grindr who are ostensibly hanging on to a straight identity while having gay sex. As that one dude in episode 2 wrote to him, he’s not gay but he likes to suck dick, etc. - and I doubt that random Grindr guy meant he was actually bi or pan rather than gay; in context he was likely disavowing any non-heterosexual identity. Eskild is talking about a specific type of guy who will have sex with men for pleasure, but would not commit to more long-term relationships with men - relationships that are perceived more negatively in society, relationships that will direct prejudice and scorn toward those involved, relationships that unfortunately can lead to terrible consequences due to homophobia, such as violence, discrimination, family disapproval, etc. He’s not getting a correct read on Isak’s situation - the guru is fallible. But his take on it is from personal experience. (Plus Isak is telling him how Even keeps running hot and cold, showing Isak affection then ignoring him, which is not going to give Eskild the best impression of the situation.)
Clip 2 - Nei, Vilde
My heart gets so warm whenever Isak and Sana are in the same frame.
“I read it last weeeeek.” Why is that one line delivery so funny and memorable? Tarjei is a human meme.
Isak is right, the correct answer is D. Sana is convinced it’s A. One of Sana’s greatest strengths is her conviction in her beliefs, but it’s also one of her biggest flaws. As we can see, sometimes she is strongly convinced she’s right when she’s not, and she can have trouble admitting that she’s wrong. (Another moment: that scene from S1 where Sana and Noora are talking about an assignment, Noora says Sana did a problem wrong, and Sana says that the answer key is wrong.) This part of the scene with Isak and Sana fighting over the answer is here to parallel the earlier scene with Sana talking about homosexuality not being supported by evolution and to foreshadow the coming scene where she does admit to Isak she was wrong about it. We can see that Sana, while a smart person, doesn’t have all the answers. She is just a teenager, after all. And we can see that she’s stubborn in her mindset, so for her to say she was wrong about something is a big deal for her.
Also, in Isak’s season he’s the one who’s got the right answer and it’s Sana who’s wrong, and I believe in Sana’s season she’s the one outperforming him, which is funny and fitting for their characters. They both think they’re the brains of the operation.
“Your own organs don’t release waste.” Sana ... do you not know what poop is....
I mean excretion takes other forms, too, but I am given to understand that poop is a globally recognized phenomenon.
Sana pinching her nose in exasperation is pretty funny, though. She must have perfected that gesture during her conversations with Vilde, but as it turns out, it has many applications!
“Just trust me, Sana, I know this.” “I trust myself and it’s A.” Character-defining statement for Sana right there.
I’d forgotten that Isak says, “This is my subject. I know what I’m doing.” Just to support all those fanfics where Isak is a scientist or doctor. Sometimes facts can be super common in fic, but not necessarily supported in canon, but this bit gives credence to scientist Isak outside of him just generally being smart and getting good grades in biology.
AND NOW, as of this week, we have Julie Andem herself saying that Isak is studying biophysics at university, for people who would like to run with her headcanons.
Isak is like, “Let’s just Google it, I’m sick of you being stubborn,” and Sana’s like, “Well, if you’re so uncertain that you have to check Google,” and I’m like, oh my god what a ridiculous duo, I can’t stop giggling at them sniping at each other. The crankiest friends, I love them.
Everyone’s least favorite teacher returns, still without a bra but this time without a racist comment. Uh, character development? (Wasn’t she some teacher at Nissen? Imagine walking into your classroom and all your students were watching extended shots of your nipples when the clip dropped earlier. Unless she usually free-boobs it, then it’s just another Tuesday.)
Isak and Sana can’t come to an agreement, so they agree to disagree by each choosing an answer and marking it. Almost like … they can agree to disagree on other topics … hmmmm...
You can see Sana frown in confusion as she reads the text, and my heart cracks a little with Isak’s response. He looks over with a smirk, teasing her about not knowing her name and it’s very cute, but his smile drops when he sees her expression. And then when he reads the text, Tarjei does such excellent and subtle acting. It’s not like Isak has a meltdown at the table or anything, but you can see him getting punched in the gut, the shock sinking in. He quietly puts the phone in his pocket, a little tremor in his voice.
Vilde, Vilde, Vilde. I actually love Vilde a lot, messy comments and opinions and all, but this is What Not to Do when you think someone you know might be gay. First of all, you shouldn’t be putting someone randomly on the spot like that, launching into such a personal question without even easing into the subject (“I hope you don’t find this question rude” - too bad, because it is rude). I mean, imagine if someone was randomly like, “Vilde, I hope you don’t think this is rude, but is your mom an alcoholic?” WTF. Second, Vilde doesn’t know Isak that well, certainly not well enough to be asking him that question. I don’t think that question would be appropriate from a close friend, either, but definitely not from their level of acquaintances. Third, if you think your friend might be gay, you should wait for them to bring it up to you, because it’s a very personal matter. It’s a sensitive topic and they’re likely to be feeling vulnerable; they might not be sure of themselves and still questioning their sexuality, they just might not be ready. Plus coming out is something each individual should have control over. With these rumors, Isak has this life-changing moment taken out of his hands.
Sana responds to the text well, though, not acknowledging it, changing the subject by asking about the next bio question, and taking care of their assignment for Isak. You know when she saw Vilde next she chewed her out.
This is probably when things really started to make sense to her about why Isak was so hung up about religion not being accepting of homosexuality, and why he confronted her about it. She realizes that no matter her point, maybe her words had some unintended meanings that weren’t the best for Isak to hear.
There’s fear in Isak’s eyes when Sana gets up. He looks at her like he thinks she might hate him now because she knows he’s gay :(
Isak is not ready to be labeled gay, really, so you can imagine how alarming this is. Not just that he had a relationship with a boy, but that he IS something. He’s something that he’s not yet ready to accept about himself, but suddenly everyone in school knows it about him?
To make matters worse, when Isak asks Vilde where she heard it, she mentions that she heard Isak and Even had a thing. So it’s not just that Isak is gay, it’s that Isak had a relationship with Even, like ... exactly how much do they know about his life?
What do you think Even thought about being outed? We don’t know whether he was out or not, whether he was OK with it. He wasn’t wearing a pan pride button until S4. Maybe he was fine with people knowing about his sexuality, but it still wasn’t Emma’s call to make, it was his.
Of course here we learn Emma spilled the beans after hearing it from Sonja. You can imagine how this went: Even told Sonja about him and Isak. I don’t have a problem with him doing that. She was his girlfriend of four years, she deserved to know the truth about why Even was ending their relationship. And she also had graduated and didn’t go to Nissen so she wasn’t exactly enmeshed in the Nissen social sphere, there seemingly wasn’t much risk in telling her. Then Sonja contacted Emma, the sweet first-year girl who she got along with so well, to warn her off Isak. I don’t think it was wrong of her to do this in theory? I guess Sonja could have said, “Hey, Isak is not worth your time,” without going into more details about Isak and Even’s relationship, but who knows how effective that would have been. I get it, she doesn’t want Emma to waste her time and get her heart broken. Ultimately it was Emma’s choice whether to keep Isak’s sexuality to herself or not. And we don’t know exactly how Emma outed Isak, since the details Vilde gives are on the vague side. It could have been Emma venting to a friend but not intending to spread it around school, except someone else happened to overhear. It could have been the friend passing it on to a friend, who passed it on to another friend, and it kept going way more than Emma wanted or predicted. Or, I mean, it could have been Emma really angry at Isak and not bothering to keep it a secret, not understanding the severity of what it’s like to be outed (because it’s 2016, Isak, get out of the closet, geeeeeez).
But whether it was through carelessness or malice, outing Isak was clearly wrong of Emma. And frankly worse than what he did to her - he hurt Emma by leading her on, but outing Isak could have had really bad consequences. Isak is lucky that his friends are good people who accepted him instead of rejecting him. Even if he wasn’t gay-bashed or something extreme like that, he could have had to deal with homophobic assholes at school. We don’t see Isak dealing with homophobes until S4, but it’s not unreasonable to think there would be some shitheads who might use homophobic slurs or make fun of him, laugh at him, etc.
Actually, although he doesn’t really deal with bullying in this season, we do see that he has to deal with people like Vilde and the dance girls, well-intentioned individuals who still make him uncomfortable with inappropriate or generalizing remarks. All of that is a hell of a lot to deal with as a gay teenager. It should have been Isak’s choice when he was ready to deal with all of that by coming out to the school. No matter her intentions, Emma took that away from him.
This is my one substantial critique of the season and the only thing I would change. I think we definitely see that Emma’s actions had negative effects for Isak, but it would have been nice to get more open acknowledgment that outing someone else without their consent is wrong. Either by someone explicitly saying that Emma did something wrong, or by Emma apologizing to Isak for what she did. Or both. Her reaction in her final scene with him does seem like she’s apprehensive about speaking to him, so maybe she realizes she messed up, but it would have been good to get this message vocalized for the audience. Don’t out people against their will.
Vilde says, “Sorry if it’s not true.” But not sorry if it is true, because Vilde doesn’t realize that it’s not the veracity of the rumor, it’s the violation of privacy.
Vilde thinks she’s being an ally, too, except of course her comments are just going to make Isak feel worse. This is what he fears - being judged because he’s gay, coming out = people seeing him as a concept instead of as an individual. Vilde is playing into the same thoughtlessness as Emma in episode 3: she’s making generalizations, and positive generalizations are still a problem. “I love gays!” is dehumanizing. Not all gay people are the same. Some are nice. Some are mean. Some are fun. Some are boring. You know. Like the rest of humanity. She’s showing that she’s slotting Isak into this neat little box, which is what she wants to avoid.
If you’ve read Ulrikke’s Skam fanfic for charity, there’s a bit where Vilde kisses Isak on the cheek because she’s trying to make him her gay best friend. But of course Isak is anything but the “gay best friend” stereotype.
It is kind of ridiculous to imagine Vilde looking at Isak and going, ah yes, there’s a guy who would make a perfect gay best friend. Like Vilde is expecting a shopping partner or someone to give her grooming tips and romance advice, and instead Isak’s preferred BFF activities would consist of lying around, playing FIFA, and smoking weed.
Clip 3 - Coming out to the boys
Jonas asks the important questions, like how does IKEA name their furniture? (And IKEA had an answer for Jonas.) (They told him to have fun at the pre-drink on Friday, lmao. IKEA was just as deep in Skam hell as the rest of us.)
The random girl saying hello to Isak is one of those innocuous-seeming things that really illustrates the negative effects of being outed. Isak is exposed. He’s suddenly a public figure. Even in a “positive” way that’s a lot to deal with; not to be a broken record but he should have been his choice when to come out so he could prepare himself for this attention.
Lmao, Magnus and Mahdi have their own little musical duo. Also, David’s rapping and dancing in this scene is the funniest shit. His comedic timing was great in this clip.
You can notice a few subtle differences in how Magnus and Mahdi greet Jonas versus how they greet Isak, because there’s still awkwardness over what happened at Emma’s party. Mahdi doesn’t look at Isak at first.
I don’t usually comment on this type of stuff but this is one of Isak’s fluffiest looks. Whenever he leaves off the snapback? Fluff factor increases 200%. Helps that he spends part of this scene looking skittish as a baby deer.
Jonas is the one to mention Isak’s pre-party, signaling that he is cool with Isak and softening the awkwardness of Isak having to do it. Jonas is such an excellent bro.
Magnus readily agrees to the party; I think he’s just such an easy-going dude and not someone who likes conflict. Jonas semi-subtly asks if they’re all in, and there’s a little moment where Isak and Mahdi exchange a look. Isak says that he won’t get violent this time, which is his way of saying he’s sorry, and Mahdi is cool with it and gives a giant lovely smile. So just like that, peace is restored in the boy squad.
I remember this was the clip where I fully turned around on the boy squad and went from, hmmm, don’t know how I feel about these teenage boys? to I love them FOREVER. Just in time for the magnificent Fredag clip.
Of course, then Magnus just has to bring up that totally wacky rumor about Isak being gay. Lol so funny that everyone thinks that!! Because it’s obviously not true!! The relief Isak must feel at making up with his friends must grind to a halt. Because it’s one thing that they’re forgiven him for the fight, but are they going to be OK with him once they learn he’s gay? He came out to Jonas and it went well, but what about these guys? Coming out is going to have to be a continuous process for him, isn’t it? And maybe it will get easier but can it ever get easy?
I’m not sure Isak planned to come out to Magnus and Mahdi when he sat down. There’s a text conversation between Isak and Jonas about telling the boys since the rumors went around, but I don’t know if Isak entered the room with the intention of coming out right then and there, or if he was just planning on making amends and then coming out to them in a different scenario, like maybe he wanted to tell them at the pre-drink (hey, it could be easier after a few drinks), but Magnus bringing up the rumors sort of pushed the issue. At least when he came out to Jonas, he got to plan the time and place and had some control over the situation.
Jonas is there, though, and he realizes that this conversation could head into uncomfortable territory for Isak. The upside is that Isak does have Jonas there for emotional support, he has at least one friend he knows has his back about being gay, he’s not doing this alone. I live for Jonas glancing at Isak during this conversation to check on how he’s doing. Which is not great - Isak is REALLY uncomfortable listening to Magnus and Mahdi talk about the rumors.
I really like how they handle this part of the conversation, though, regarding the rumors about Mahdi fighting Isak for being gay. It puts Isak and Mahdi, who haven’t always gotten along this season, on similar ground. Mahdi is also a victim of a stereotyping and generalizing, both “neutral” and negative - that he’s Muslim when he’s not, that he’s homophobic when he’s not. Assumptions that are certainly made because of his race. I can’t speak for Norwegians specifically, but it’s a widespread stereotype that POC are less tolerant of LGBT people and more likely to be homophobic. It’s a good thing for Julie to casually include a rejection of that stereotype. Also that Mahdi is really bothered and not amused by other people thinking he’s a homophobe. Magnus thinks this whole thing is so ridiculous it’s funny, while the others really don’t find it funny at all; it’s shitty for Isak and Mahdi personally, and Jonas knows that Isak is struggling.
I do love Magnus overall but I want to duct tape his mouth shut for a large part of this conversation.
Okay, he drives me up the wall here but admittedly I do get a laugh out of that satisfied huff he gives at the end of the talk, like “Good chat, glad we got that cleared up.” Having no idea the seriousness of this conversation.
Poor Isak. His discomfort throughout this clip is very well-acted, good job, Tarjei. He can’t even look his friends in the eye at the beginning.
And that eye contact Jonas shares with him before Isak starts to tell them the truth!!!! Best bro!!!! He also keeps looking to Jonas for support during the talk, before he tells the boys about Even.
The way Isak comes out here is roundabout, just like before. Like he did with Jonas, he builds up to it - he’s not just like, “Well, there’s some truth to the rumors,” or anything so direct. He starts by winding into the story about the dance chicks, taking some time to get to the point. He needs to work up to saying the words.
An interesting part is when Isak asks if they remember the guy who came up to them and Magnus is like, “The gay guy?” and Isak wants to know why he thinks he was gay. Because Isak is of course thinking about Even, not the random dance instructor. But there’s some stuff to unpack with how Isak gets maybe a little tense or alert about Magnus thinking Even is gay. There are a couple ways you could read his reaction: that Isak is still dealing with what it means to be gay and to be seen as gay, the social perception of it, and can’t turn off the part of his brain that’s full of anxiety about seeming gay, and wants to know what it is Magnus picked up about Even - could it apply to Isak, too? Or that Isak is still thinking about Eskild’s guru advice and Even’s general hot and cold-ness and wondering if Even really is gay (or bi, or pan, or into dudes) and wanting another take on it? Or you know, just confusion over how Magnus could know that much with such a brief interaction.
To be fair, all of these interpretations assume Isak believes Magnus is capable of a deeper level of perception that he perhaps is, lmao. Or, on the other hand, if someone like Magnus could pick up that Even was perhaps gay after seeing him for like 10 seconds, then what does that say about how people see Isak?
It’s honestly pretty funny that Isak is like “Don’t you remember the guy who was such a tall swoopy-haired drink of water? Didn’t him returning Jonas’ hat burn into your minds for all eternity until you pass from this world and it’ll be the last thing you see on your deathbed?” Isak, those guys were in a dance girls coma, a random dude returning a hat was mostly a non-event to them. (Yes, Jonas remembered that moment and figured out he must be Isak’s crush, but Jonas is the The Best Friend and paying close attention to all Isak-related anomalies.)
Once more, Isak comes out to people not by saying he’s gay, but by describing his actions (“We’ve had a thing”). Quickly reinforced by Magnus asking whether he’s gay and Isak reflexively rejecting the label. It goes from Isak saying, This is what I did and Magnus saying, So this is who you are? and Isak saying, No, that’s not who I am. Well, maybe a little bit.
I mean, he does say he’s a little bit gay, but I feel like that’s a concession that yeah, hooking up with a dude is not a straight thing to do, he probably feels like it would be stupid to pretend otherwise. But him fumbling with the gay label here shows how concerned he still is about the perception of others about his sexuality. He still has hangups about what it means to be gay and wants to distance himself from societal stereotypes, and he quickly backs into a defense of himself. Isak might be a little gay but he’s not SO gay he’s into every guy he meets. Which should be obvious - he’s not into every guy out there just as these straight boys are not attracted to every single girl on the planet. But Isak is very insecure. Like at its core, this part is sad to me, because he wants to make sure these other guys are not uncomfortable with him and they don’t see him as a threat. It’s completely understandable why he has these insecurities, because of homophobic ideas about predatory gay men, but it’s still depressing that he feels he needs to defend himself when the words about him having a relationship with a guy are barely out of his mouth.
However, here is another really good moment! Magnus is confused because Isak (in his eyes) hooks up with girls all the time, and Isak doesn’t really know how to say he was lying or faking, or he doesn’t want to say he is not into girls at all yet (because if he’s like, “I’m not into girls,” Magnus is going to be like, “Sooo… you are gay?”) BUT before Isak has to handle this deeply awkward moment, blessed Mahdi is like, “Well, he could be pansexual?” THANK GOD. We as the audience know that Isak is not pan (or bi) but it’s completely reasonable as an outside suggestion that Isak might be. So often this is framed as one or the other, Isak could only be gay or straight. A lot of canons won’t even bring up bisexuality, and it’s really rare to hear pansexuality mentioned at all. Bravo, Skam. 🙌
So this tense moment where Isak is suddenly put on the spot and potentially asked to explain his sexual history is diverted by his friends casually discussing and debating pansexuality and bisexuality. Is this the most #woke way they could have talked about it? Well, no, but it’s a realistic discussion and certainly a good thing for the teenage audience to hear. These characters are not experts on every social issue out there, but they’re open to being educated and sharing knowledge with each other.
Like I kind of laugh at Isak pursing his lips, suddenly excluded from his own coming out while his friends debate labels. In a way it is weird that they’re suddenly talking about whether Isak could be bi or pan right in front of him, but not with him, just among themselves. It’s meant in a good-natured way though, they’re trying to understand him. And Isak must find this deeply surreal but preferable to being grilled personally on how he identifies. Of course they could have just asked him whether he was bi or pan but I don’t think Isak was ready to answer that question.
King Jonas is like “However, he identifies, he’s having a pre-party on Friday,” because hey, that’s the most important thing here, where and when they can get drunk. (For real, bless Jonas for changing the subject before it got too strange.)
Magnus using the f-slur is jarring and not excusable and I mean, I hope Jonas later on was like, “Don’t say that word, dumbass,” and Magnus went home and Googled words not to use when your bro might be pansexual and educated himself. I’m not excusing him, but I don’t think we don’t hear anything like that from him later so hopefully he wised the fuck up.
But again, duct tape.
At least Isak does not seem rattled by it and uses the opportunity to roast Magnus. Because it’s just so easy.
Not gonna lie, the clip ending so abruptly after Magnus is like, “Huh?” makes me laugh.
Clip 4 - Love letter, kinda
Is this the shortest individual clip in all of Skam? It’s less than a minute long. I can’t remember any others that are shorter.
I love that Isak stops and takes a moment to size up his locker, bracing himself for his daily battle. And that it just … doesn’t happen. He’s downright stunned when the locker doesn’t fight him and gives way easily. Isn’t it wonderful when a problem that’s been bothering you is finally gone?
Regarding Isak’s locker of character development, the meaning is very clear. Isak came out to his friends and it’s not the end of the world. They accept him. So his locker (closet) can open without a struggle. He’s not stuck in the closet or struggling to keep his secrets from spilling out. It’s fine. It’s such a simple metaphor but it’s lovely.
And on top of that, he has another message from Even!
Even drew that damn phone twice, you can see subtle differences in each version (besides the obvious text messages).
Again, I love Even’s sketches so much. He’s has such a clever, creative, romantic mind. The “this universe” side of the sketch is acknowledgment that he received Isak’s message, but didn’t reply. The “same time in a completely different universe” sketch is what he feels he SHOULD have done, what he wanted to do but couldn’t get the courage to do, or felt he couldn’t. It’s so poignant! There’s so much longing! I swoon.
This sketch is an apology, too, because he knows Isak must have been hurt by Even leaving him hanging yet again, especially right after Even must have given him some hope with the cheese toastie sketch. This is Even acknowledging that he should have replied and in a better world, he would have.
It makes you think so much about what was holding Even back. I don’t think it was just Sonja (tbh I wonder if Sonja was really in the picture, to be discussed later), I think it was just simply his hesitance over Isak’s comment about mentally ill people. He gave Isak the cheese toastie sketch because he saw Isak was sad and wanted to let him know Even still cared, that his feelings were still there. But then, you know, Isak found the sketch and sent Even a text, and interacting with Isak again just made Even have another round of doubts. He felt like he shouldn’t be doing this, he shouldn’t be continuing this thing with Isak or encouraging it. But at the same time, Even does not want Isak to be in pain. And despite his reservations, despite everything standing in his way, Even wants Isak.
The “miss you” is such a punch in the gut, too. Like we know Even misses Isak because he drew them having cheese toasties together, in another, better universe. But it’s also good to see him state the words so directly. Again, the longing. My heart can’t take it.
This is the drawing that ends up on the wall of the Evak apartment in S4. Isak saved it and they both decided to put it up, even when all the drama had passed, because it was special to them. I like to think it’s a reminder to them of what they went through to be together, and to treasure their life in the present, because going through hell was worth it to arrive at their happiness together.
Look at Isak’s little smile, awwwww.
Not to ruin this beautiful moment or anything but as people have pointed out, Tarjei is reacting to a blank piece of paper.
I think I’ve said this before but looking at Even’s drawing here reminded me of how I am an utter wreck of a human being when I think about his drawings being in the S3 header. Just Isak surrounded by Even’s sketches. Even’s mind, Even’s personality. Even as an integral part of the season, of Isak’s story. I see an Illuminati symbol surrounded by dicks and I’m overcome with emotion. This season still got its claws in me, goddamn.
Clip 5 - REUNION CLIP
This clip is just so heartwarming. When this aired the Skam train had left the station, internationally speaking, and the fandom was so happy and having such a good time with this quality content. It’s really amazing how fast the fandom grew. I think the reaction to this clip was maybe when it sank in for me that Skam was getting big on Tumblr.
The boys talking about russ music at parties reminds me of how S3 is so devoid of anything russ-related compared to other seasons. If Skam had continued until graduation, do you think we’d see the boy squad participating in russ at all, or would they opt out? I mean, I guess we have Jonas’ thoughts on the matter, but what about the others? We don’t see them planning anything, obviously, but a lot of us wanted to see the boys in those overalls. How common is it not to participate?
The way Jonas says “Nate Dogg” cracks me up.
Isak is trying, really trying to get invested in this conversation, but his mind can’t help but roam elsewhere, to Evenland. He is wearing the exact same outfit as in the Bros clip of episode 5, and it’s a similar setup, scene-wise - he’s at a pre-drink with his boys and they’re engaged in a conversation, but he’s very disconnected from it all. The difference here is that Isak has re-established that social connection with them, so Jonas is quick to notice Isak really isn’t there with them, and he checks with Isak. Not just how Isak is feeling right then and there, but making sure to ask about the Even situation. Jonas can deduce that whatever’s got Isak in a mood, it’s probably Even-related. And because Isak has opened up to Jonas, he doesn’t have to sit there in misery the whole time.
The setup of this scene is subtly different from the Bros clip, too. In that one, the boys were all on different pieces of furniture - Magnus and Mahdi on some couch, Jonas across from them on a chair, and Isak between them on another chair - and it made it easy for Isak to sit there disengaged from the group because of the distance. Here they’re all sitting around the same table, a united front, and it’s not as easy for Isak to detach himself. He’s in the same place as they are, he’s level with them.
When Isak says Even has a girlfriend, Magnus asks if he is pansexual. HOW RIGHT YOU ARE, SON. Look at Magnus, using his new vocabulary.
These boys are just darling. I kind of love how Jonas is the friend who is like 100% Team You, like … the friend who will join in with you when you’re spilling your romance woes and be like, “What is his DEAL?” and give you all that commiseration you want, but also the advice you need to hear. And Magnus is like oooo, are we talking about Even? Isak’s friends want all the dirt on their boy’s boy. Like they are invested, they are ready and willing to hear about Isak’s interpersonal issues.
But isn’t it nice for Isak to be able to talk about this with people? That once he’s no longer keeping this huge secret, he can talk with his friends about his romance problems, just like they can talk about their girl drama? It’s no different than Magnus talking about Vilde, except with less TMI. That’s the obvious contrast between this scene and the Bros clip. Isak starts off detached in both scenes, but in this one the boys bring him back in.
And to be fair, Isak could hypothetically had shitty friends who didn’t accept him, or who were theoretically OK with him being gay but didn’t actually want to hear him talk about hooking up with boys because it made them uncomfortable. Unfortunately, that happens in real life. Like … Isak was not unjustified in his fears and in his keeping secrets. It’s just that his friends turned out to be great, and that opening up to them was a positive step.
One annoying part about coming out to his friends: Isak having to deal with Magnus’ incredibly heterosexual questions. But also, it’s nice that the other boys are clearly rolling their eyes and groaning at Magnus being a dumbass, it’s treated as Magnus bieng inappropriate. And this exchange is a small but valid misconception to include in the show, because it’s a big thing for straight people to ask who’s the man and who’s the woman in a gay relationship - they’re still mapping the relationship onto heteronormative roles. Each romantic relationship MUST have a man or woman role in it. And of course that’s not the case. Not to mention this question is also clearly linked to sexual roles, like … two men having sex are two men. It doesn’t matter what they’re doing during that sex. No one’s the “woman.” (I mean, I think Magnus is asking how they decide who’s the top and who’s the bottom? But there are no guidelines for that, either, lol. Those are things people decide as individuals when having sex, it’s not a universal rule who does what. Or I guess Magnus is just very confused about how gay sex works, lmao.)
Magnus’ question always reminds me of this scene from The Office.
Isak’s roast of Magnus here is one of the finest roasts I’ve ever heard, like someone serve it with carrots and enter it in the county fair because it’ll win a blue ribbon. He goes in for the drag about straight sex and then circles back for a snap at Magnus’ lack of action! Double roasted! So roasted it’s burnt! You’re going to be chewing on that sucker and end up spitting it into a napkin. Even Jonas is impressed.
Lmao, I know Magnus is meant to be the clueless straight guy, but I like headcanoning him as stumbling into a bisexual epiphany in a few years. Like sometime after he graduates he’ll be like … ohhhhhh, that’s why I had those questions about gay sex for Isak and was so invested in Evak and was struck speechless by Even.
JONAS IS THE FUCKING BEST, LISTEN TO HIM AND HIS WISE OLD WIZARD EYEBROWS, ISAK
Really, Jonas just cuts past the bullshit and says for Isak to put his foot down about this whole Even situation. It’s now or never. Stop letting Even play with your heart. Did Jonas have a flair for relationship advice when he and Eva were together, or has he gained some wisdom from his own experience with love drama?
This scene is just such a joy! Usually in media, the gay characters are the ones who help out the straight characters with their romantic drama. Here it’s the opposite. Especially because these are straight boys who are completely fine with giving their gay bro advice on how to get his man. This is honestly great of Julie to normalize this behavior. I’ve heard comments that maybe this situation is idealized, that the boy squad are so cool with everything, but you know what? Skam, for all its realism, is frequently about ideal outcomes - not just how things are, but how they should be. Giving teenagers a roadmap of how to react in unknown situations.
Also, how great is it that Isak has been listening to endless conversations about girls, sitting through dance chicks performances, basically going through all these social rituals and bonding with his friends over heterosexual desire, feeling so isolated from it all, and now finally he’s included? His coming out has opened the door for Isak to both be honest about his own attraction to men and no longer having to feign interest in girls. Freeeedoooooom!
The boys are also using their knowledge of dating girls to help out Isak, translating it to him dating a boy. And I mean, there is a different social context with straight relationships and gay relationships, so their advice might not always fit perfectly with Isak’s situation. However, it matters that they’re not othering Isak (well, Magnus is with his questions, but those are laughed at and shut down). They’re able to maintain an easy connection with Isak, not filtering him through a different lens because he’s into a guy. Which is absolutely what Isak wants, to be treated the same.
Isak is very encouraged by the boys telling him to put Even on the spot and be blunt with him about what’s happening with them. I think it’s funny that Magnus is like, “Yeah, it sucks when she leaves you on read,” and we hear it happens to him all the time. Somehow that does not surprise me!
Isak is friendlier and not as blunt as Jonas encouraged him to be in the text message to Even, thanking Even for the drawing at the beginning. He’s human, he’s soft for Even, he can’t totally hide it. But he does make it clear that if Even doesn’t want something more, then this needs to end.
“Call me when you’ve broken up with your girlfriend.” What a line. You harness that self-respect, Isak.
They’re all so proud of their boy Isak for standing up for himself. They’re even like “Bros! Brothers!” when they clink their cans. You have to imagine that even if this thing with Even hadn’t worked out, Isak had a strong support system to get him through the heartbreak.
Lmao, Even answers immediately. Isak giving him that ultimatum and laying down the law really made him sweat, huh.
No, really, let’s talk about what Even thought when he got this text.
Now personally I believe Even was no longer in a clear relationship with Sonja when he got this text. I think whatever happened with them at Emma’s party was either temporary or ill-defined, and they were still technically on a break through all of this. Mostly because Even ends up getting to Isak’s apartment SO FAST. Like ... was Even breaking up with Sonja as he was running out the door??? Did he shoot her a break-up text during the night, after when Isak was asleep? I’d like to think he didn’t do Sonja that dirty.
But yeah, Even responds so quickly. Right after Isak sends that first text, Even realizes that he might lose him. And after all this hesitation, knowing that Isak doesn’t want mentally ill people around, fearing that he could hurt Isak, that Isak could reject him once he finds out the truth … after his efforts to push Isak away, Even can’t do it. When Isak makes plain that Even has to put up or shut up, it takes zero time for Even to make a decision. Or at least, he has to talk to Isak. The thought of losing Isak outweighs any other concerns he might have. There’s something about the simplicity of it that gets me. When there’s no time or room for doubt, Even chooses Isak in a heartbeat.
Jonas is of course the master of strategic texting. Don’t call Even, because calling will put you on the spot and bring you closer together than texting. Isak has to be a little aloof, make Even think he’s really about to let go. Play it cool. The magic words are Chiller hjemme. Lets him know you might be available, but you’re not desperate to talk with him. (Seriously, how did Jonas get this smooth?? I assume from experience but lmao, the evolution between S1 and S3 Jonas is like ... Bulbasaur and Venusaur.) (I don’t know Pokemon that well, if there’s one that has magnificent eyebrows please let me know.)
Isak’s facial expressions throughout this whole texting debate are so funny to me. He’s practically a wide-eyed innocent? He’s so earnest, he really does want to talk to Even! Plus with his little curls popping out from under his snapback, he looks very young and fresh-faced to the whole ultimatum via text message thing.
And he keeps wanting to add more to the text, like “just call me,” or suggesting a smiley, and Jonas shoots that shit down. What a character moment, honestly? Isak the young inexperienced texter and Jonas who has gone through multiple desired relationships. It is really cute that Isak wants to add a smiley! But Jonas is right, it completely would have made him seem too eager and destroyed the perception of aloofness.
What smiley would he have landed on, though? 😀 or 🙂 or 😁 or 😎? I’m partial to the sunglasses emoji myself. Chiller hjemme 😎
There is a conversation to be had, by academics who study the impact of modern technology on everyday communication, about the instinctive knowledge these teenagers have about subtleties in non-verbal expression, such as recognizing the impact that a smiley can have in changing the tone of a text message, and combing Skam for all related examples of strategic use of electronic messaging and/or social media to send messages to their peers.
STRAIGHT UP
Sometimes I think Marlon’s finest acting on the show is that self-assured look he gives Isak when he says Even will call, or that gasp of overjoyed satisfaction when Even shows up at the door a few minutes later. Those are just some damn fine expressions.
This moment where the boys sit in silence, waiting for the text, is so good! They’re hooked into the drama! They want their boy to get his man! And that forlorn shot of the phone sitting on the table among the beer cans, inactive. Not lighting up with the desired response from Even.
It’s also really sweet when the boys try to offer suggestions why Even isn’t responding. Even Magnus has a reasonable idea about checking the typing bubble. When it seems like Isak has given up, Mahdi says maybe Even is just somewhere he can’t talk right now. (Which was accurate, seeing as Even was probably hauling ass over to Isak’s apartment.)
Poor Isak, you could see how he was getting hopeful and feeling better when this whole texting idea started, he was proud of himself for being proactive and putting his foot down with Even’s indecisiveness, he had a little smile and some light in his eyes. And now, the resignation is seeping in. Tarjei does a lot of these smaller reactions so well. Isak is still smiling a little, but it’s bitter, he’s telling them that Even is going to flake again. I mean, I’m not even sure Isak is totally convinced that Even won’t respond. I feel like he does still have that spark of hope, he’s just trying to tamp it down. He knows Even has a history of running hot and cold and he doesn’t want to get too optimistic.
Guys, I’m so emotional about these kids. Tarjei is such a good actor that all of his micro-expressions are giving me pinpricks to my heart. And I’ve seen this a million times and I know that in less than five minutes Isak’s going to be shaking off his virginity like he’s a golden retriever come in from the rain, BUT. But I feel so bad for this kid and his disappointed face.
And the rest of the boys, too. They’re there with their friend Isak getting his heart broken. Even, you’re letting down not just the man of your life, but the whole crew!!!
The other boys try to make some conversation about other topics but Isak just sits there, checking his phone again. At this point, watching the clip for the first time, I definitely thought Even was headed over to Isak’s - no way could they have this random conversation about fermenting beer at school without something big to interrupt it. Also, we hadn’t seen Even at all this week, so he probably had to make an appearance. Still, that wait? Feels like forever.
THAT DOORBELL RING, YESSSSSS. Didn’t our hearts leap up at that simple sound?
How Even got there so fast is such a mystery, too. I guess he doesn’t live that far away, and he could have taken his bike, but I mean, he’s literally there in two minutes after Isak sends the Chiller hjemme text. Two minutes! Sometimes it takes me two minutes just to put on my shoes and leave the house.
I kind of like the idea that maybe Even was already in the neighborhood, or out for a walk or something, trying to work up the courage to go over to Isak. There’s an Instagram post from Magnus of the boys drinking in the kitchen, so if Even happened to see it, he could recognize it as Isak’s kitchen, he could know Isak was at home, he might find himself wandering in that direction….
Lmao, I love them asking Isak if he invited more people and Isak being like, nah, you guys are the only friends I have. It’s kind of self-deprecating but uh … also true. And of course that’s why it was important for these bros to accept Isak’s sexuality.
The boys are really into saying Eskild’s name for some reason, they do it in episode 2 as well. WHERE IS MY ESKILD/BOY SQUAD INTERACTION. I wrote this in the episode 2 recap but I want to know what the boys thought of Eskild, especially prior to Isak coming out, because that probably would have influenced Isak’s attitude toward coming out to his friends?
We don’t get a shot of Even standing outside the building, even though it would be within Isak’s POV. I’m assuming because it would have been too complicated or time-consuming to film for just a short shot. Or maybe for Dramatic purposes, it’s more striking to just have Even appear after the week by smoldering in the doorway, and it heightens Isak’s brief anxiety by keeping Even’s reveal in suspense. But what do you suppose Even was doing outside as he waited? Bouncing up and down nervously as he tends to do? Hands in his pockets? Panting from getting to Isak as fast as he could?
Speaking of Drama, lmao how dramatic is Even, that he just SHOWS UP, in the time it takes to make toaster strudel, with no warning? Hypothetically he could’ve texted I’m coming over to Isak, but of course that would ruin the intended effect of Even just landing at Isak’s door. It’s such a cinematic movie. I think love of movies is so ingrained into Even’s personality that sometimes he just does what a romantic comedy protagonist would do.
Or else Even was just not thinking anything but Isak Isak Isak must get to Isak and didn’t even consider anything but getting his ass in motion. Which frankly, I think is quite likely!
This is a very minor point but the way this clip was filmed always throws me when Isak gets up and we see how tiny the table is. They show it at the start of the clip, but the texting debate feels like some knights of the round table shit in terms of importance. It feels like it should be way bigger and instead they’re sitting at this little square.
The boys are so delighted that Even is there. And it makes me laugh so hard that Magnus is excited about getting to meet Even, L M A O. I mean, even if he assumed that Isak and Even were just going to have a long talk and not bang it out, how awkward would that have been? Who wants to meet your friend’s sorta-maybe-potential boyfriend when they’re presumably about to have a serious discussion about the fragile state of their relationship?
And of course Isak is like FUCK THAT about his friends meeting Even right then and there. Tarjei’s delivery of, “You can’t meet him, what the fuck are you saying?” is perhaps underrated in its comedy.
Lmao, Isak gets so cranky here, too, he went from soft “Smiley?” Isak to RARRRRR grumpy teenage boy in like two seconds. All thanks to Even’s presence, of course!
Bless Jonas yet again for just immediately starting to pack up, no questions asked.
This is a Romeo + Juliet song when the boys start leaving ( “Local God” by Everclear”). I believe it was used in the film when Romeo and his crew are hanging out, so it’s a bro song. We don’t hear any of the lyrics in the clip but they sure are interesting:
I feel just like a local god when I'm with the boys. We do what we want, yes, we do what we want. I feel just like a local god when I'm with the boys.  We do what we want, yes, we do what we want. We do what we want. Yeah, we do what we want. Be my Romeo,  Tell me all about your love,  Tell me all about your pain, Baited breath and rubber gloves.  Be my Romeo,  My go-go Romeo,  I see you twist and turn,  You look so fuckin' stupid.
So yes, bro song with direct mentions of Romeo.
All the chaos and casual catastrophe of the boys getting up to leave, I love it. It’s all the typical stuff when you leave a party - where’s my phone, where are my shoes, what’s happening, etc.
Also that Isak herds them out the back door, he really does not want Even to meet them, it’s gonna be too awkward and it’ll be anything but chill if Even knows Isak sent his friends away to get some alone time with Even.
“These aren’t even my shoes!” I LOVE THEM SO MUCH, I truly love these teenage failboats with all my heart.
They are champs for leaving when Isak asked them to, like even with all the confusion this was relatively swift and efficient.
Oh my God, guys. When Isak shuts the door, "Local God” (the song associated with his friends) instantly stops, and he is left there alone, for just a second, and the opening of Lykke Li’s “Tonight” starts … I get butterflies in my stomach. Isak is nervous, I’m nervous, we’re all nervous. What good directing from Julie, switching so quickly from a comedic mood to this vulnerable romantic mood, and how she can do that in just a few seconds with some well-chosen music and a moment to breathe.
Yeah, that moment to breathe, from Isak … where he shuts the door and looks toward the other side where Even is knocking, and takes just a brief pause to collect himself, and you can see how unsure of himself he is … good acting, good directing, just. Good.
AND THEN HE OPENS THE DOOR AND EVEN LOOKS LIKE THAT
I honestly do not feel Isak opened the door with the intention of getting laid, or that Even came over with the intention of getting laid. Especially Even, actually. I think Even really just panicked at the thought of losing Isak and ran over. It’s possible that maybe Even was even going to explain a bit - I don’t know if he was going to go over everything, necessarily, but I think Even wanted to make some things clear - that he wasn’t with Sonja, or that he wanted to be with Isak. I don’t know how he would have brought up his bipolar disorder though I guess it’s possible he could have pushed himself to do so. And maybe in that little pause moment, before Isak opened the door, he thought to himself about the possibilities of what could happen when they were alone, but it was wrapped up in every other uncertainty or fear, such as Even dumping him or saying he wanted to end it, or that he couldn’t leave Sonja. But it all changed when Isak opened the door and they looked at each other; they had missed each other so much and wanted each other so much that talk wasn’t happening.
Even looks really rattled and vulnerable when Isak first opens the door, I’m sure he’s thinking over how he’s going to explain himself, maybe psyching himself up to disclose his mental illness, as mentioned. But he softens a little when he registers Isak, because despite everything, it’s Isak.
Isak is trying to keep it together and play it cool at first and then Even Hallas at him a few octaves lower than normal so that’s not happening. Lawd, Henrik.
Even starts to look a little hesitant and nervous again as they pause too long at the door, like, oh right, I ran over here without a clear invitation. Is this okay? Am I welcome? Should I go?
But obviously Isak is just like, fuck it, and goes in for the kiss. CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. Isak initiated the kiss, Isak has been proactive throughout the evening, Isak is more assured in his sexuality that he can do this.
You know what else has experienced character development? Isak’s tongue.
The first time I watched that part I think my eyebrows legit jumped off my face. No offense but gay storylines on TV frequently feature dry, tight-lipped, no-homo kissing so it’s nice when actors actually kiss like they mean it. Isak and Even really want each other, it’s believable.
But seriously, this is actual progress for Isak and demonstrates that he’s more grounded and confident in his sexuality.
That moment when they break off the kiss for just a second - I’m pretty sure it’s Even who breaks it off to look at Isak, as if to ask whether he’s sure he wants this. And Isak wastes barely any time before diving back in, by way of an answer. Not gonna lie, that moment when characters stop kissing to look at each other, searching for an answer in the other’s face, is one of those romance tropes that I enjoy, so this was a good scene for me.
Even lost his denim jacket somewhere between the front hallway and Isak’s bedroom, by the way. I’m just imagining Eskild or Noora stepping over it when they got home and being like, yep, Isak had a busy night. (Linn would probably step on the jacket and not notice.)
Even shoves Isak against a wall because he is living that fanfic life.
Kudos once again to Tarjei and Henrik because they really keep kissing and stay in their character’s passionate mindset. There’s a moment where they sort of break off to start undressing and Even swoops in for another brief kiss - it feels like these two seriously can’t stop kissing, they want to be kissing, and it’s a small moment but it makes it feel like they genuinely desire each other.
Lol, Even was going to take off his hoodie first but then decided to divest Isak of his shirt, what a gentleman.
I don’t know why I love that snapback coming off but I do. It’s just funny to me in a way? Like the snapback would get knocked off anyway when Isak took off his shirt but he’s instead he has to make a Moment of it. You know shit’s getting real when the hat comes off.
This bit that goes from against the wall to in the middle of the room shirtless (they moved around!) is just so tender??? Like that bit where Even taps Isak’s lip with his thumb and gets in a quick nose rub. What the fuck.
I mentioned this in my episode 5 review but this scene is what made up the footage in the mysterious hiatus trailer that had everyone in a tizzy for 10 days, except not all of the footage in that trailer made it into this clip, so there’s extra Evak sex scene footage out there. I am sure this would be of interest to no one, obviously.
Not to be weird but I legit think it is nice that Tarjei is doing this scene with this large zit on his forehead because that’s OK! People don’t have perfect skin when they have sex.
I feel like Isak is having a spiritual experience when Even goes down his body, like he’s not even entirely there. Is this happening to me???
Also, totally a callback to the very first scene of the season, when Emma tries to blow Isak in the bathroom and he’s not having it. He does not express such reluctance when Even goes down on him. A+ narrative parallels, Julie, A+.
But this was a really good first time scene (if you believe, as I do, that this was their first time together) and a lovely sex scene that wasn’t either too exploitative or too coy. The Evak sex scenes are handled very well in this season.
And Lykke Li’s “Tonight” was a gooooood choice. How simple and painful is the desire behind those lyrics. You can just imagine how Isak and Even have been missing each other and pining, and how this song expresses the feeling that they don’t want to let each other go. And all this emotion goes unspoken, tonight they’re not going to talk about their heartbreak, tonight they’re just going to show each other all that pent-up longing.
But also, the end song over the credits, “Crave” by Pharrell Williams??? Spectacular. We watch this emotional scene set to this incredibly sweet song full of longing and vulnerability and then the credit song is just like … sex. Sex is a thing that is happening. It is the equivalent of an eyebrows waggle and a suggestive wink. Bet you can guess what they were doing after the credits rolled!
I love this show so much, oh my God.
Social Media/General Comments:
The text that Isak sends in reply to Even’s cheese toastie drawing seems so polite, like Isak rewrote it a million times trying to decide on the right tone and phrasing and everything and finally went for something very neutral, trying to reestablish the conversation between the two of them without seeming too eager.
Eskild sends Isak a long-ish text after their talk on Sunday, where he basically strives to give Isak more encouragement. You can tell he really thought over what he said to Isak because he truly wants to be helpful to him and be a good guru. He realizes Isak is young and probably in his first relationship with a guy, and Eskild can’t help but feel protective and not want Isak to get his heart broken. It’s honestly such a sweet message, because Eskild is first and foremost looking out for Isak’s well-being. Like … there’s a thing in media (and fanfic, sometimes) where a character’s friends are more concerned with making sure their romance works out, rather than whether this romance is right and good for the friend. Isak’s friends in this season are supportive of Evak, but they’re Team Isak first, and they’re not afraid to tell Isak when they think Even is doing Isak dirty or when it might not work out. See also: Jonas in this week’s Fredag clip.
Anyway, Eskild tells Isak how happy he is that Isak came to him for advice, and that’s beautiful. It’s supportive of Isak relying on his friends rather than bottling up his feelings. And he says that he thinks Isak is brave- incredible, show-stopping, spectacular, etc. I mean telling Isak he is brave? What a wonderful thing to say to a kid who’s still in the early stages of coming out and is dealing with a ton of insecurities. Eskild is the fucking best, guys.
But he’s also offering to hook up Isak with someone and help him move on to another guy if that’s what Isak wants, lol. Getting in his jab about tights and mascara but in a good-natured way.
You know who else is the fucking best? Jonas. Isak texts him about the rumors with Even spreading and Jonas is so supportive and sweet, offering to talk to the guys for Isak and telling him not to stress over it. With a heart emoji, no less ❤️
Isak also decides that he should be the one to tell the guys. My brave boy!
Jonas also posts an IG on the same day of the text with him and Isak as Simon & Garfunkel, with the hashtag #bros. Basically a show of support for Isak. Like. CAN YOU BELIEVE. My heart gets so warm thinking about these kids. Skam is a space heater for my soul.
Text between Kollektivet where Linn does not want to leave on Friday and Eskild is dragging Linn out of her cave. I mean, sometimes you want to chill, but this is probably good for Linn. Get her out of the house.
Text between the boy squad after Isak comes out to all of them. They’re able to rib him about his “family dinner” so things are back to normal.
I want to mention that Isak uses a Broad City gif. I don’t know if Isak actually watches Broad City, but the idea is pretty funny.
I know Magnus can be dense as hell but he uses a gif of Sam Rockwell in Galaxy Quest in response to Isak’s drag and like, Galaxy Quest is the greatest film of all time so clearly Magnus is a man of superior taste and intellect.
PS he says something that translates to “never giving up hope” and I’m going to take that he meant “never give up, never surrender.”
Mahdi says Friday is going to be nice because “bros united.” Awwww! That’s especially nice coming from him since he and Isak had the friction; I feel like this is his way of saying he’s really over what happened between them and he just wanted them all to be OK.
I remember when this episode was airing in real time, people had a lot of theories about what would happen on Friday. Jonas mentions an Elvebakken party and Magnus mentions a gay bar. I remember people thinking they might go to the Elvebakken and see Even, or hear about Even’s past from Bakka people, or that they’d go to the gay bar and Isak would hook up with someone or run into Even or something. Instead Isak never made it out of his apartment, lmao.
Also, Magnus being like, “I’m up for a gay bar” is not hurting my bi Magnus headcanon at all. I know, I know, he’s that bumbling straight friend. Still!
Isak texts Eskild about his second drawing and Eskild is like, “Play hard to get.” Which obviously did not work on Friday. He also calls Isak his little godkitten which is. Adorable.
As I mentioned above, Magnus posted a pic of the boy squad at the pre-drink and that’s why I think Even might have seen it and moseyed over in that direction and was already lurking in the vicinity, as to account for him showing up so fast.

there is a guy on youtube who have reacted to the show and ended up loving it and he is black. i, a white person who have nothing to say on the matter other than i have common sense, felt uncomfortable even at the use of the songs over some scenes, like these lyrics in 302 and 305. when this reactor was watching the window scene he really liked them and ends up loving them, but in the moment of this lyric he gets visually annoyed and says "is even a fake ass *....?" you can feel he was bothered.
first of all, i have to say he is a fuckin’ delight. when even’s music came on for his slow-mo walk in 3x02 he was just, “there he is, the heartthrob.” and when isak was going to watch romeo + juliet he was all, “you’re buying that bro? you’re dedicated. i would’ve torrented that shit.”
i actually understood his reaction to nas’s lyrics in that moment not to be annoyance but curiosity. he was wondering if the use of those lyrics were meant to foreshadow even being a fake person. but maybe i’m reading it wrong! it’s also not my place to speak over his interpretation of/reaction to the song usage.
youtube
i might go and watch him from the start. i never watched more than billy’s season 3 reactions but i’ve already laughed out loud multiple times to just this one episode. it’s nice seeing someone experience it for the first time because it takes me back to a simpler time. “oh no he plays the guitar. you know what happened the last time we saw a guitar in skam…look how that relationship turned out.”

So it’s meta Monday again, and here I am finally with this clip analysis.  Please, if you want to play along and give me something to talk about, then hop over to my asks and give me some ideas.  Otherwise, it’ll be another of these next week :)
Episode number and name: Two. Du er over 18, sant?
Clip number and name: Five.  Mekke øl
My thoughts/analysis:  Not only is this a long clip, it’s also one in which a lot happens.  And is, understandably, a favorite for many people including me.  So I apologize in advance for this thing being roughly a million words longer than it probably needs to be.  It’s also very very hard to say anything new about this clip.  It’s been analyzed to death, but I’d never forgive myself if I missed it.  So bear in mind there’s not much new here; this is just my version of a long running love affair with this clip.
It starts after school on a Friday with what are fairly typical joyous shots of people really happy that they don’t have school again for a couple of days (I empathize -- I may not be a student but I too would like to dance in the streets when school’s over for a week).  And into this, of course, come our boys.  Magnus is showing himself to be someone who wants to learn and do better, and yet is still a bit of an idiot.  He’s taken on board that guys should go down on chicks, and has decided he’s going to do it himself.  Just exactly how he’s going to do this is hard to figure out, considering it’s very clear that he isn’t really experienced and has literally zero game.  Isak doesn’t help, insinuating that Magnus would need directions if he ever got anywhere near a girl, which, from him, is just a teeny bit hypocritical I have to say; but it does say a lot about the personalities of the two.  Neither of them is particularly experienced, neither of them is as good with this stuff as they’d like to be and yet one of them has everyone around convinced that he’s the master of flirting and hooking up, while the other is the object of jokes.  The fact that Magnus can wear his heart on his sleeve like this while Isak has to hide so much is yet another pointer to the distance there is between this group.  The fact that Isak is so good at this mask he uses is sad; it means he’s been doing it for a very long time.  This is second nature to him, and he has cultivated and perfected this image of a player to the extent that it doesn’t even seem like he’s trying.
Then of course, we have the scene where they argue about who owes who beer and so who has to be the one to get it.  The main point here is to set up an evening they are all looking forward to, which Isak then rejects in favor of Even and his many charms.  That Isak ends up agreeing to source the beer makes the stakes here higher than they otherwise would be.  If he was just going it’d be fine for him to skip but a) he’s the one with the in to Emma and her friends and b) he’s also now the one who’s supposed to provide the beer.  So, when he makes the decision later to ditch them it has a lot more weight.  He’s disappointing Emma who thinks he’s into her and he’s disappointing his boys not just by pulling the promise of the party away from them, but also by not providing the alcohol.  We tend to not blame Isak here, because we see how affected by Even he is, but this short scene is here to make us realize that this is a bigger deal than we might think and that the others around him are justifiably pissed off with him when he decides not to go.
Also obviously, we have Isak sincerely trying to get beer for the guys.  He’s not unexcited by this party etc tonight; he actually wants to go and is making a goodwill effort to get the beer.  Eskild is a no go, but that doesn’t stop Isak from trying.  He’s genuine here.  As a side note, the boys should probably have planned ahead here.  They’re not old enough to get beer themselves so it’s presumably not the easiest task and they’re giving themselves only a couple of hours.  On the other hand, that’s fairly typical teen behavior really.  Decide in the moment what you want to do, and then try to make it happen.
Then we have that perfectly awkward meeting on the tram.  Imagine how joyous Even must be right then.  He’s just standing here minding his own business and then the object of his affections turns up in his tram!  It’s a sign!  Fate, or something!  Unfortunately, this guy is so engrossed in his phone that he hasn’t even noticed Even at all.  The resulting conversation is so deeply, painfully awkward to watch but it tells us so much about each of them.  Isak is overwhelmed, clearly nervous and has no idea of what to do or say.  He looks down and away, he can’t hold eye contact and he’s just a mess.  It’s up to Even then, to carry the conversation, which he does though he leaves it in the realms of small talk.  Contrast this with his very forward behavior at the kosegruppa meeting.  There he had a plan and he set it in motion.  Here, it’s out of the blue so he’s winging it.  And Even’s winging it is kind of not that great, heh.  There are long pauses and Isak pretends to be really interested in his phone, which seems to blunt Even’s approach somewhat.  Thankfully, Isak has his inspiration and asks Even to get him some beer.  I do wonder how awkward that walk between the tram and the shop and Even’s home must have been.  They’re neither of them good at small talk, or at least not when they really care about the person they’re talking to, and this time there’s no weed to help them along the way.  At least not yet.  Again, thank goodness for Even and his inspiration!  He’s not willing to let Isak go now that he has him within conversing distance so he comes up with a plan to take him home with him.  My feeling is that this must have taken a little bit of planning between the tram and the shop because he’s so supremely confident again.  His ability to walk off as if he doesn’t care at all is useful to him because it intrigues Isak and he’s more than willing to follow.  The amount of courage that must take, though: Even has no way to know Isak will follow along yet he does what he thinks will be his best bet at getting Isak alone a little more.  Walking off has worked once, so maybe it will work again.
I actually think, given that Even is shown later to be somewhat scattered and not terribly responsible, that it’s possible that he really did forget the ID.  I know it’s apparently unusual in Norway to not have it, and it’s entirely plausible that this is 100% made up (Isak certainly looks bewildered by the idea that he might have forgotten it), but it’s also a possible hint towards Even’s issues and his illness.  Either way, it gets Isak into Even’s home and they’re instantly more at ease, even Isak.  He’s curious, drawn to Even’s walls as he tries to figure this guy out.  It all serves, of course, to make him seem even cooler.  He has guitars!  He draws!  He’s funny!  Isak’s charmed by it all (and you can see Even’s happiness that Isak seems so into it in his glances towards him as he searches).  This all makes it much easier to forget the beers when Even can’t find his ID and instead produces that social lubricant, weed.
The next time we see them, they’ve clearly been talking for a while and they’re a lot more comfortable. Isak’s almost garrulous as he talks about school and what you can get away with.  It helps that Even is so very focused on him.  How heady that must be for Isak: this very attractive boy seems to want to know Isak as much as Isak wants to know him.  He’s still playing up a little of course: he’s the tough guy, the one who skips school and who the principal doesn’t like enough to extend the grace for attendance to 15%.  It’s all designed to make Even think he’s cool.  He even admits it when they talk music.  He has his things he listens to when he wants to feel cool.  It’s very close to an admission that there are things he does or says when he wants to feel cool.  This is contrasted very nicely with Even’s mention of Nas.  He’s almost hesitant when he brings it up; this is something that’s important to him (certainly he has memorabilia surrounding him too, so it’s not just a casual connection with 90s rap).  Isak has been trying to act cooler than he really is to impress Even.  Even is trying to show some of his vulnerabilities to connect with Isak.  They both have the same intention: making a closer connection with the other person, but their approaches are very different.  And I think in a lot of ways, the issues they have later arise from this different approach they each have.  The nice thing about it is that as soon as Even realizes what Isak is doing (pretending in order to impress) he calls him out on his bullshit, but does it in a way that’s charming and isn’t intended to hurt or belittle Isak.  It leads of course into the montage where they both clearly fall deeper for each other.  And it’s such a natural move into that moment, allowing Isak to appreciate Even and the way that happened.  They laugh easily, they sit quietly together too.  It’s all such a huge contrast with the tram that it’s hard to believe this is the same afternoon.  Of course, weed has a lot to do with it, but there’s so clearly a natural flow between them.  They get on well right from the start.
So it all means that by the time they’re making terrible cheese toasts in the kitchen, they’re very much at ease.  They can tease and joke and have fun.  Isak is pretty sure that there’s something happening here; enough so that he’s allowing himself to look at Even in a way that he’d have been too scared too before the tram (in fact, that we saw him being too scared to do just a few hours ago).  Enough so that he’s confident enough that he can blow off his plans for the evening in the knowledge that he can stay with Even.  He also has enough confidence that he can contradict Even with his ‘so bad it’s good’ line.  He’s no longer trying too hard to fit in with what Even wants, and is happy enough to be a little more himself by now.  Incidentally, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: he is not a master liar and manipulator.  His lies here are appalling; telling different lies to two sets of people with easy enough ability to contact each other: rookie mistake.  I don’t for one second buy that Isak was a clever manipulator of Eva in s1.  I think he was an opportunist who didn’t think things through properly and got burned.  Much like he does here.  Because he’s terrible at this stuff.  Even, too, by the way is terrible at lying.  He gives Isak a beer, right out in the open and later says he has plenty.  Like, Isak could have bought those off him and headed off to his party happily.  But since neither of them wants to separate, neither of them brings it up.  Beers for the boys are totally forgotten in fact, because it’s far more interesting to stay here with their crush.  That both think it’s unrequited at this point is both adorable and frustrating.  As is Even’s idea that flirting by talking about male genitalia is cute.  Of course, it seems to work on Isak so maybe he’s just got the measure of his man already.  Or maybe he’s just lucky that Isak is so readily charmed by him.  They eat, they laugh, they have fun together.  It’s all very lovely (and Even’s casual ‘yeah I have heard about your rapping’ is the height of understatement; don’t tell me he didn’t do exactly what Isak did and scour the internet for Isak sightings, much more successfully it seems than Isak was with Even sightings), and it’s designed to show again how well they fit together, how much fun they have when they’re alone and unselfconscious.  It’s all very very sweet to watch.
Of course, all this bliss is there at least partly to make the thorough destruction of all Isak’s hopes that much worse.  His face when Even introduces his friends and Sonja (and then kisses her thoroughly) is heartbreaking.  It’s also then that his lies also come home to roost.  So, not only does he lose the fantasies he’s been feeling for Even, he’s also caught out by his friends and Emma.  The mask he’d been so careful with has been allowed to slip, and just when he thought it was worth doing he finds himself without it right when he’s actually going to need it the most.  He can’t hide from the boys and Emma anymore, even though he does try.  But I think this is the seed of Jonas figuring everything out; that Isak is willing to blow Emma off suggests he’s not into her and Jonas is smart enough to notice that and be able to put it all together over the next few weeks.  It’s also clear that if Isak was thinking properly, he’d probably realize just how significant it is that Even literally forgot all his friends and his girlfriend while with Isak.  But as it is, he doesn’t see it, probably because he’s caught up in his own misery, his own jealousy and his own horror that he’d misread the situation so badly.  So we end the clip and the episode with Isak feeling completely lost and miserable.  It’s not a good way to leave him.  He’s in a vulnerable place and it’s difficult to leave him here after having seen him so very happy and relaxed earlier.
Romeo and Juliet connections for clip:  Certainly none that are overt.  Unless maybe Sonja is meant to parallel Paris a bit the same way Emma has before.  Representing the decent, nice person the ‘Juliet’ figure should be with.  Neither Paris nor Sonja is a bad person; they’re just not the right person for Juliet and Even.  Or not right in these moments.  I’ve mentioned before I think that both Isak and Even thinks of themselves as Juliet, and that makes this all stronger now.  Juliet makes a decision to move away from the person she’s with and to take a leap of faith on Romeo.  A leap that isn’t actually that huge, because Juliet isn’t invested in Paris at all.  She feels a duty to him, but no actual love.  So, maybe this is a hint that despite Even seemingly engrossed in Sonja here, that she’s not actually the obstacle she appears to be.  Even has a duty to her (a 4 year long one), and he clearly feels some compunction around all this.  Though not enough for him to stop pursuing Isak until the Sonja thing is properly dealt with.  In that respect, it’s fairly similar.  Paris is strung along, mostly by Juliet’s parents, but he still thinks he has some call on Juliet and her affections.  As does Sonja, with more direct encouragement from the actual person.
Associated extras: There don’t appear to be any.  Which is a good thing for the sake of my wordcount, which is already eye wateringly large.
Overall impressions: As with probably the entire fandom I absolutely love this clip.  I love how easily and seamlessly it takes us from awkward beginnings to affectionate teasing and casual friendliness.  I love that they both seem so into it, that they both cast knowing glances at each other.  I love that Isak, for the first time, allows himself to hope.  That it ends so sadly for him doesn’t negate the joy that seeps through in every frame of the earlier scenes.  It’s a masterful clip and it does its job superbly.  I don’t think I’ll ever get sick of watching this one.

EVAK FANFICTION RECS / PART 12
Hi, hello everyone! <3
It’s been a while since my last masterpost and I figured now would be the perfect time to post this anyway since... you know... after today, there will be no more of the real thing. So consider this as a kind of fix-it gift from moi, which you can devour when we’re all sad about the show ending. I would include the cheesy ‘Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened’ quote, but that would be kind of hypocritic since I’m already bawling my eyes out myself, so... yeah. Enjoy these fics at least! :)
Lastly, Skam might be ending, but I promise you we’re not going anywhere... As long as there are fics to recommend, we’ll be here with new rec lists at hand & ready to reply to all your asks/requests!
As always, the list is divided into oneshots and chaptered fics.  My personal favorites are tagged with a “ ★ ”. Completed chaptered fics are tagged with a “ ✓ ”.
Now, without further ado, all the fics can be found under the cut. Have fun!

ONESHOTS:
i could probably just curl up in you. by milominderbinder Summary: Isak is away at a cabin with the guys when he gets a text from Even. “hey, babe, did you take my favourite hoodie?” He is, of course, outraged that Even would accuse him of such treachery. The fact that Isak is wearing the hoodie at that very moment has nothing to do with it.
take it slowly darling, this time i'm feeling a change by ahana Summary: The first time he saw Isak Valtersen.
It's Okay to Not be Okay by okaywhateverokayyes Summary: Isak's thinking about the pieces of paper that Even still leaves him in the morning- about parallel universes and how he writes all these words that somehow are strung together to sound more articulate than Isak could ever make them sound- And it dawns upon him, what all of it means.
when your heart is bleeding, i'm coming to get you by cosetties ★ Summary: uni!au; Isak doesn't exactly expect his hookup from last week to be the love advice columnist at the school newspaper he's working at. He also doesn't expect to fall even harder for him than he already has, which is a shame, really, since Even's crushing on someone else.
i never sleep (‘cause sleep is the cousin of death) by Evenbechbaesheim Summary: Isak’s just had enough. He can’t fucking sleep. It’s never been this bad, and with the doctors news, he fears it’s about to get a whole whole lot worse.
and now my heart is ready by verlore_poplap ★ Summary: Isak's only eighteen, Even proposes a lot, everybody cries and - surprisingly - no one makes a joke about Isak being a teenage bride.
scream for air to breathe by highpraises Summary: “Can I fuck you?” Even asks, fingers mapping out the soft skin Isak bares to him, squeezing and kneading as he licks a stripe up his neck. “What else do you think I’m here for?” His voice is quiet and Even grins at him before pushing him back onto his bed. Even never dropped out of Bakka and meets 16-year-old Isak at a party.
the best place to begin by milominderbinder Summary: It's funny how fast you develop habits when you live with someone.
Where There's Tea, There's Hope by colazitron Summary: Isak knows how to boil water, he promises. He understands the basic concepts of physics, okay?
and i'm so proud (of being loved by you). by milominderbinder Summary: Isak's eighteenth birthday is only three days before Oslo's pride parade. To Eskild, Even, and the rest of his ridiculous friends, this apparently makes it the perfect opportunity to combine celebrations.
almost like calling it love by piginawig Summary: fake dating!au; “I have to go to the party,” he stated. “I have to show him that I’m okay, I’m pre-med with perfect grades and yeah, maybe I’m single, but-“ “What if you weren’t single?” Even said suddenly, biting his lip.Isak choked. “Um, what?” “Like, what if you took a boyfriend to the party?” “I don’t have a boyfriend, Even,” he said, frowning. Even didn’t look deterred. “What?” “I could be your boyfriend.” Isak choked again. “Like, pretend,” Even clarified, and Isak felt slightly sick.
I'd follow you anywhere by reasoniwantyoutostay Summary: Even bounded up the 4 flights of stairs to their apartment. As he reached for his key to unlock the door he paused. Was that music coming from their apartment? He leaned his ear against the door and then pulled back with a confused look. Maybe Isak was watching TV? But why would he be watching that?
(Drunk) In Love by verlore_poplap Summary: Isak falls in love at first sight. Too bad he's drunk off his ass when it happens.
The Dials of Life by wordsarelifealways Summary: Isak has lived with Asperger's his whole life, and without a doubt his least favourite part is the hypersensitive times.
Who, With Pancakes, Is Poor? by colazitron Summary: When Isak wakes up, it's to a warm, sunny day, and his boyfriend making pancakes. What could be better than that?

if you know you're in love and he feel like the one by highpraises Summary: “Are we going to your place?” Isak asks, when they’ve been driving for just a couple of minutes. “Nah, my parents are home,” He says softly, running his thumb over the ridges of Isak’s knuckles. Isak’s brow furrows and he chews his lip to the side, humming lowly. “So… the car? We’ll park somewhere?” Isak asks, smiling shyly.
home is wherever i'm with you. by milominderbinder Summary: Everyone seems to assume it's Even who asks first. Even is the romantic, after all; he's the one who does impulsive things, and he's the one who talks about the future like it's inevitable. It only makes sense that he'd be the one to first think up such a seemingly ill-advised idea. But actually, it's Isak who turns around one night when they're cuddling in Even’s bunk bed, Even’s hand twined in Isak’s curls and guitar music playing in the background, and asks, “Do you want move in together?”
La Ritournelle by Tristeza ★ Summary: Isak and Even are exes. A funeral brings them back together.
Forget The World by verlore_poplap ★   Summary: Hence, Isak resigned himself to being the ninth wheel and consoled himself with the knowledge that Even was always good for some solid kush and he'd just light up for four days straight. The more he thought about it, the better it sounded in Isak's head. Yeah. This weekend was going to be fucking awesome.

you can keep me up (keep me up all night). by milominderbinder Summary: neighbors!au; Isak Valtersen has a nemesis, and it's whoever lives above his room at the kollektiv. Every night, all he can hear is loud, endless mystery noises. Has his neighbour taken up carpentry? Trampolining? Raising cats? Whatever it is, Isak is both pissed off and sleep deprived, and it's not a good combination.Unfortunately, most of that anger goes away the moment he meets Even Bech Næsheim. He might be a bit too cute to count as a nemesis.
i fill the tub up halfway then ride it with my surfboard by highpraises ★ Summary: Isak turns his head, and looks directly into Even’s eyes for the first time since he sank into the tub. “You’ll take care of me,” Isak says stupidly. “Yes,” Even agrees immediately. He leans forward and kisses Isak on the mouth, and then adds, “Endlessly.” “Take care of me,” Isak whispers, lids heavy and breaths coming out quicker already.
you're the one i wanna grey with by cosetties ★ Summary: They've only been dating a month, so Isak shouldn't be pathetic enough to miss Even this much when he's only gone for a weekend. They're taking this completely chill, but Isak is starting to realize that he has no chill when it comes to Even.
hey good looking, what you got cooking. by milominderbinder Summary: “The first rule of cooking,” Even says, looking Isak very seriously in the eyes and handing him a spatula, “Is to always be prepared for anything.” Isak blinks. He accepts the spatula, but considering they aren't even stood in the kitchen yet, he's not particularly sure what he's supposed to do with it. “I feel like that's not the first rule of cooking. Isn't the first rule of cooking probably something to do with not giving people food poisoning or chopping your finger off with a meat knife or something?”
would you do me the honors? by cammm Summary: Even loves Isak. So much that he's going to ask him to marry him. He gets some of their friends involved to help him make this happen. He wants everything to be perfect. Isak gets a text from Even telling him to come meet him in the bathroom they met at Nissen. Confused, Isak goes. Only, Even isn't there. Jonas is. Which leads him here and there collecting roses and notes at locations that hold memories. Many of the big pivotal moments for Isak and Even are revisited, leading up to an Evak proposal.
Call me when you've broken up with your girlfriend. by kingkylo Summary: What if Even had never showed up to Isak's place the night of that pre-game? What if Isak learned to move on, and three years later, gets a message from an unknown number. And that number just so happens to be Even.
Home by unsungyellowraincoat Summary: Eskild visits Isak and Even's home for the first time.
another breath and i'm up another level. by milominderbinder Summary: They pass the joint back and forth for a little while, mostly quiet, until they've both had enough to start feeling a little buzzed. It's a cool summer evening, not cold but with a gentle breeze washing over them through the open doors, and they have nowhere to be. Nothing is urgent, and right in that moment, they can both just completely chill. Then Even looks up and says, “Wanna shotgun?” Isak’s mouth goes dry.

He meets Even, who is determined to help him concur his fears and help him win that bet! “And what was the bet exactly?” “That I wouldn’t be able to ride the Top Thrill Dragster without chickening out or throwing up,” Isak grimaced.
city of stars, are you shining just for me? by cuddlesevak Summary: Isak and Even have sex for the first time and it's an emotional rollercoaster for both of them. One that ends up being the best thing that's ever happened.
i put my make up on, it's friday night and i won't be long by lovedisak Summary: The first time Isak tries make up is when he's dating Sara. Or, Isak's journey wearing make up.
A cloud of smoke by ForEvenAndEver (yuraxchan) Summary: “I've made a list of pros and cons of why you should stop smoking, babe.” Isak grabs a paper folded in four conveniently left on the table the night before, clears his throat and looks at Even to make sure he's listening. He is, of course. Although, he looks adorably confused this early in the morning. Isak stares at him for longer than necessary, admiring the view of Even with puffy eyes and his hair in disarray, still rumpled from sleep. Or, Isak tries to make Even stop smoking by using his charms as a distraction.
tell me who the fuck you wanna be by thekardemomme Summary: In Isak's very, very short life, he's only kissed four people. He hasn't stopped kissing Even.
love must be made, and made new (all the time). by milominderbinder Summary: After moving in to their new apartment together, Isak and Even go grocery shopping for the first time. Featuring: illegible shopping lists, Even's weird food obsessions, and a conversation about what, exactly, it takes to make a home.
Spaces Between Us by allyasavedtheday ★ Summary: Isak cuddles into him, nosing at Even’s cheek and leaning their temples together. “I think they miss you.” “Really?” he whispers, hardly daring to hope.Isak nods against him. “They asked if you’d want to see them again.” “What did you say?” “I said it’s up to you.” * A fix-it fic for Even's storyline in season 4.
boy, you make me make bad decisions by hippopotamus Summary: uni!au; In which Isak is way too drunk, way too dramatic, and his ex is making out with someone else.
The Way To A Boy's Heart by GayaIsANerd Summary: “Stop that, you’re messing up your hair, and we both know how much work that takes!” Isak took his hand and hugged Even from behind. “It’s good! Everyone loves your pasta. You don’t have to impress anyone, it’s just Sana and Yousef. It will be okay.” “Promise?” “Promise!”
Boys of Summer by XioNin Summary: Even has no idea why he's standing in a room full of pretty, shirtless boys, but he is not complaining.
i won't deny it, i'm not trying to hide it by highpraises Summary: Even traces his fingers along the choker and Isak digs his nails into his shoulders as Even slips his fingers beneath it, tightening it just enough for Isak to squirm, his laughter dying out. “Even.” “Do you like that?” “Yes,” Isak whispers breathlessly. Or, snapshot fic of Isak and Even's sex life, featuring chokers.
take me over, take me in. by milominderbinder Summary: Eskild is suddenly waving the order ticket in front of his face, and -- oh. Right there, in the little box on the online order form that says ‘Delivery instructions?’ someone has typed out, send the cute delivery boy. This is why Isak hates online orders. Nobody would ever say something like that if they actually had to call up and ask, but a picture of someone putting that special request had gone viral or something, because now it seems like they get some idiot asking for a cute delivery boy basically every week.
chokers and crop tops by cammm Summary: Isak wants to surprise Even with wearing a crop top and a choker in bed, so he turns to the people he knows can help him out: Eva, Noora, and Vilde.
He’s too good for me by JulietteGD Summary: Isak’s reaction to The Video.
somebody in here, it’s your birthday. by milominderbinder Summary: On the morning of Isak’s eighteenth birthday, he wakes up early – to the sound of someone relentlessly calling his name, the smell of waffles, and the sight of a very beautiful boyfriend, already fully dressed and beaming the crinkly-eyed smile Isak loves so much, with an armful of terribly wrapped presents. It turns out, Even has a few surprises in store.
it’s my birthday and i’ll get fucked if i want to by highpraises Summary: "Should we go?“ “We can’t go, it’s your birthday.” “I get to decide, it’s my birthday.”
audience of one by verlore_poplap Summary: The morning after his eighteenth birthday, Isak reflects on his new favorite film, The boy who couldn’t hold his breath under water.
let us cling together as the years go by by sargentblue ★ Summary: It’s been sitting in Even’s front pocket for a while. He could feel the weight of it against his leg throughout the day, and Even feels like it sticks out like a sore thumb, but Isak (or anyone else, for that matter) hasn’t noticed. It’s not surprising, really. Isak is not very observant at the best of times and the only time he really notices if anything is going on in Even’s pants is for very different reasons. Very different indeed. It’s safe to say Even’s a little bit on edge for the duration of the gathering. Asking someone to marry you is no small feat. * (Or: Even proposes on Isak’s birthday.)
meet you under the summer sun. by milominderbinder ★ Summary: Oslo is struck with a heatwave. Even and Isak try a few different ways of keeping cool.
here, on bended knee by thekardemomme Summary: “So.. You've been hiding a ring for an indeterminate amount of time and your secret was exposed from your friend trying to hijack the sex toy he gave you for use on poor freshmen pledges?” “You really have a knack for making situations sound totally ridiculous, but. Yes, that's the gist of what went down.” Or; Jonas tries to find handcuffs in Isak's closet. Instead, he finds something else.
It’s easy come, never go by LostInAdmiration Summary: Being a parent was terrifying. It was exhausting and stressful and Isak hadn’t slept properly in weeks. He barely felt like he could take care of himself, so taking care of such a small thing that totally relied on him was truly nerve-wracking. Isak relayed all of this to Jonas during their weekly meet up. It had become more like monthly, since Jonas lived a few hours away from their home town now, and Isak was always so busy. Still, every time they reunited it was like no time had passed at all. Jonas snorted and rolled his eyes as Isak complained. “He’s a dog, Isak, not a baby.”

When Even has to move a few days before they start middle school together, Isak is crushed and has not the slightest clue how he's going to make it without him by his side. [ PART ONE ] [ READ ON AO3 ]
As soon as Even finds out he’s been keeping Isak awake every night for weeks, several things happen.  First, the late night noises stop almost immediately and completely, which must mean Even has either put carpet back down like he said he was going to, or just completely changed all his habits for Isak.  Second, this lets Isak actually get some sleep again, which his professors seem to appreciate since he stops falling asleep in lectures, and his friends seem to appreciate because they inform him that he’s at least forty percent less grumpy.
Third, Isak starts running into Even everywhere.
They bump into each other at the cafe Isak didn’t know Even worked at, the laundry room he’s never seen Even in before, the bench just down the street from their building, the tram back from University.  Eskild keeps inviting Even to movie nights at the kollektiv, and then in return Even keeps cooking them all dinner, and he also starts texting Isak about random little things during the day, which never fail to make Isak laugh and secretly blush to himself and then get teased by all his friends for the besotted way he’s looking down at his phone.
By the time a few more weeks have passed, Isak has to upgrade his feelings for Even from crush to full-on infatuation.
But between Eskild’s never-ending meddling and Linn’s eternal presence at the kollektiv and Even’s roommates, Mikael and Yousef and Elias, being around a lot too, it takes a while before Isak and Even get any more time alone.  It’s not like Isak’s angling for anything, but still, if the universe wanted to throw him some kind of situation where he could stare at Even all he wanted and not get caught in the act by his roommates, he wouldn’t complain.
And then, one day, Isak manages to lock himself out.
He doesn’t know how he’s done it -- he always remembers his keys, but his keyring broke in his bag at some point during his day at uni, and Isak’s ended up with the key to the outside of the building, but not the one which actually opens the kollektiv’s front door.  And Eskild’s at work and it’s the one day that Linn happens to be visiting her family, so he’s just stood there, feeling like an idiot with an armful of organic chemistry books, no coat, and a phone on 2% battery.  It’s drizzling outside so he doesn’t even want to go and walk somewhere else, but he supposes he’ll have to, and just take shelter at the nearest coffee shop or force Jonas to take pity on him.
Except, before he can actually turn around and leave, Isak suddenly spots Even coming up the stairs, and doesn’t even waste a second before calling out to him.
“Isak, hey!” Even responds immediately.  He looks happy to see Isak -- at least, Isak thinks so, although Even’s always pretty cheerful so he could be imagining it.  He bounds up the rest of the stairs and then stands a little bit closer than he has to, a little bit closer than you’d probably lean to a casual friend -- but then, Isak could be imagining that too.  “Shit, locked out?  Don’t worry, I do that like, at least once a week.  Wanna come and chill at mine until Eskild can rescue you?”
And that’s how Isak ends up in Even’s flat for the very first time.
It really is laid out the same as the kollektiv, but decorated so differently that it’s almost hard to tell.  It’s weird, like seeing Isak’s own flat in an alternate universe; he’d be quite happy to just wander around and inspect the way they’ve nudged an armchair into an alcove that Eskild has a bookcase in, or the way their kitchen is flipped so the fridge is by the window, but as soon as they’ve toed their shoes off at the door, Even is leading the way towards his bedroom.
Okay, Isak thinks.  He can work with that.
As he takes his first steps into Even’s bedroom, Isak feels a bit like he’s walking into some kind of sacred site.  He’d spent most of the last month imagining endless scenarios for what was in the room above his that caused so much noise -- but when it comes down to it, Even’s room is pretty normal.  He has a big bed that’s unmade and messy and pushed against the wall.  A couple of guitars, which Isak is sure he must have heard being played at 3am a few times.  There isn’t a trampoline, or any evidence of drilling equipment, so he’s still not quite sure what Even could have been doing all those nights to cause so much noise.
The next thing he spots is the wall, which is papered in drawings and doodles and interesting little cut-outs.  Even had said he was an artist, but Isak hadn’t really considered what kind of art he did; he wanders closer, reading a few of the hand drawn little comics, and finds they’re quirky and surprisingly funny.
“These are really good,” he observes, glancing over his shoulder at Even and smiling a bit.  Even is watching Isak, like he’s observing the response to the room, and he smiles a little lopsidedly.
“Really?  Ah, thanks.  They’re not my main thing, I actually make movies too, and paint, but -- yeah, sometimes nothing will shut my brain up except doodling.”
Isak understands that.  He’s no sort of artist, but he definitely has a bit of a messy brain that he can’t always find the volume switch in.
“Well, I like them.”  He smiles a bit too softly at Even, and Even smiles back, a wide grin that makes his eyes crinkle up and his whole face turn adorable.
Isak’s heart thuds in his chest.
“Wanna watch a movie?” Even asks.
-----
They’ve sat side-by-side through plenty of movies at the kollektiv by now, but being alone together, sat on Even’s bed and so close their shoulders are touching, is something else entirely.
Isak barely takes in two seconds of the movie; the whole of his brain is consumed by how good Even smells, and how warm he is where they’re pressed together, and how his deep laugh rumbles through his chest every time Isak misses a joke on screen.
When the movie ends, Even looks over at Isak, and asks, “Did you like it?”
Turned like this, their faces are so, so close.
“Yeah,” Isak says.  It’s barely a lie; he loved the entire experience of watching this movie, despite the fact that he doesn’t even remembered what it’s called.  “It was great.  Thanks.”
-----
After that, Even starts texting him more, and it seems like they’re bumping into each other ever more often, and Isak can barely handle it.  Every time they’re all in the same room, Eskild has started giving Isak meaningful looks, and Isak just glares back at him.  The thing is, it sometimes seems like maybe, just maybe, Isak’s crush isn’t totally unreciprocated -- but Isak has a bad track record with mistaking friendly straight guys as interested in him, and he’s never heard Even talk about sexuality, ever, except the once he’d mentioned having an ex-girlfriend.
One day, when Isak is doing dishes in the kitchen and Eskild is sewing up a hole in a pair of leggings at the table behind him, Isak decides he’s going to just casually ask, and clears his throat.
“Uh, Eskild?” he says, not looking up from the mouldy pan of pasta he’s scrubbing out.  “Has -- um.  Has Even ever, I dunno, mentioned to you about -- talked to you about his sexuality?”
There’s a moment of absolutely blank silence, and then all of a sudden a squeal and a pair of arms throwing themselves around Isak’s shoulders from behind.  He immediately tenses up, washing up water sloshing everywhere as Eskild jostles him, but it’s too late to take it back now.
“Aww, baby!  I knew you were crushing, I just knew it!  I have such a good guru sixth sense about these things, don’t I?”  Not really -- Isak’s probably just extremely obvious.  He knows that.  “And he hasn’t talked to me about it, but I’ve noticed the little pansexual flag badge on that sexy denim jacket he always wears, haven’t you?”
Clearly Isak hadn’t, but that information is interesting at the very least.  He shrugs Eskild off, trying to seem annoyed, and grumbles something about just being curious before dropping the subject entirely.
But next time they see each other on the stairs, and Even stands just a little closer than most people would and brushes his fingers over Isak’s arm, Isak does take note of the badge on Even’s jacket.
-----
One day, when Isak has a pretty big exam coming up, he puts his phone on do not disturb mode while he studies.  When he takes a break after an hour, for a bag of Doritos and a quick check of his notifications, there is a solid wall of texts on his phone, all from the same number.  His face twitches into a hopeless little smile as he clicks on them, seeing the dumb meme Even had sent him to begin with, and then a series of increasingly pointless but cute messages about what he’s having for dinner and the fact that Isak is taking too long to text back.
[ 19:02 -- From: Even 4B ]
should i start blasting music through the floorboards when you ignore me? haha
Isak figures studying can wait a little bit longer.
[ 19:13 -- To: Even 4B ]
didn’t realise you were that desperate for my attention, sorry ;P
He has started being just a little, tiny bit flirtier in texts lately.  So far, Even hasn’t said anything about it, so Isak’s gonna just keep sending those winky emojis and hoping he’s being obvious enough.
[ 19:13 -- From: Even 4B ]
Isak, you’ve known me for several months now, surely you should realise i am ALWAYS desperate for your attention!
Even’s reply is almost immediate; he really must have been waiting for Isak to text back.  Isak bites his lip as he reads the message, and then reads it again for good measure, feeling his heart beating a little too quick.  His fingers hover over his phone, starting to type out a response but then deciding it sounds lame and backspacing, beginning again -- but after a minute, he must have been taking too long to reply, because all of a sudden an obnoxious pop song starts blasting from the room above his.
Isak actually laughs, flopping back onto his bed and looking up at the ceiling, as if the blank white plaster represents Even himself.
[ 19: 15 -- To: Even 4B ]
omg, GEEZ, okay you have my attention, just stop the gabrielle! wanna hang out?
Studying can wait.  You only live once, Isak decides, and it’s not every day that a cute boy is trying so hard to get you to give him the time of day.
-----
The music turns off, and Even appears at the door three minutes later, beaming rather triumphantly.  Isak rolls his eyes, but leads the way to his room anyway -- he wants Even all to himself, so speed is of the essence, before Eskild realises they have a visitor and hijacks Even for the rest of the night.
Even has been in Isak’s room a couple of times, but never really hung out in there before.  Isak suddenly feels a bit regretful of how messy it is, and does a quick sweep with his eyes to check he hasn’t left any mouldy plates or dirty underwear out in the open -- luckily not, it’s just crumpled clothes and a whole lot of uni notes strewn all over the floor.
“Uh, so,” he says, suddenly feeling awkward.  They’re just stood there, and Even is standing close, like he always does, and it’s making it way too hard for Isak to think.  “What do you wanna do?  We could play FIFA, or watch a movie or something, or, uh, I guess we could order food, but we’ll have to sneak it past Eskild.” Even looks amused, a little pressed-lips smile on his face as he stares down at Isak.
“That all sounds chill,” he says, shrugging.  Why is he so much smoother than Isak?  How is that fair?  “But why don’t we just sit and talk for a bit?”
Isak’s heart thunders in his chest, but he nods, and a few minutes later they’re sat on his bed together, Even’s long legs crossed over the crumpled edge of Isak’s duvet, close enough that their knees touch.  Even’s telling a long story about one of his film classes, and Isak is half listening, half watching and thinking how much he likes the way Even talks with his hands, all big gestures like he’s trying to draw the words into life.
And then the story ends, and the room is just quiet.  Even looks at him, almost evaluating, his eyes all soft.  One of his expressive hands drifts between them, and his fingertips rest oh-so lightly on Isak’s knee.
“You look nice today, by the way,” Even says, smiling so softly that his nose scrunches up.
Isak thinks fuck it, leans into the tiny space between their bodies, catches Even’s face between his hands, and kisses him.
Even’s lips are like nothing else he’s ever felt, and Isak can’t help but gasp against him when Even immediately starts kissing him back.  The hand on Isak’s knee slides all the way up his leg and holds onto his hip instead, and Isak leans in closer, and then closer still, until his arms are wound all the way around Even’s neck and their mouths are moving frantically against each other and he can pull until they both go tumbling back onto the mattress, legs uncrossing and winding together, their whole bodies intertwining.
It could be seconds or hours later, but Isak’s whole body is overwhelmed with heat and he eventually eventually gets dizzy enough to pull away for a brief moment, needing to catch his breath.  As soon as he does, Even nuzzles into his cheek, a deep little hum escaping him.
“So I guess I really did get your attention,” he says, his voice sounding all soft and pleased, and Isak can’t help but burst out laughing.
They stay in Isak’s bed for the whole rest of the night.  At some point, in-between orgasms and jokes and deep conversations, Isak is forced to recategorise Even once again.  This time, he goes straight from infatuation to boyfriend.
Isak thinks he might keep that one for a while.

Translation of SKAM article
Hey everyone! There were a few who wanted to read this article about SKAM so I’ve translated the whole article. I’m sorry for typos or weird sentences (there were some that were hard to translate) but I hope it can help anyways. You may also want to have the article beside you while reading since there are many gifs and chats you need to see to understand it:)
http://p3.no/minneord-skam/#skam
Dear SKAM-fans, this speech is for you
We have cried and we have laughed. SKAM has brought us together and this is our obituary
It is blue Monday and we are starting to realize: the days where you update the SKAM-page every 10 minutes are over. That SKAM-tab that you never close, can now be crossed out.
A fairytale is over, and it is almost impossible to describe how we feel. Fortunately, pictures can say more than a thousand words, and therefore we are choosing to express ourselves through memes and gifs - free tips from us to you who will be holding a wedding or birthday speech in the future.
 Season 1
WOW (emoji)
The first meeting between Noora and William, aka Wilhelm, didn’t go unnoticed. After William insulted her friend, she told the schools biggest fuckboy where the closet stands (a proverb). High five to girls who dare to stand up and tell a guy off.
*Gif of Noora*
LOL (emoji)
Let’s put some time aside for some of the most comedic moments from season 1: Sana and Chris who are causing through the school yard on hover boards. Sana has so much control over that hover board! Before it began to ‘collapse’ for Sana in season 4, Sana had control over everything.
*Gif of Sana and Chris*
 Aww (emoji)
Holy Father, Eva and Jonas were so good together! Jonas is and will always be the guy, meanwhile Eva never was the same when that relationship ended, and she started to drink/get drunk at every party. But enough about that. The scene that goes from madness to cuteness in the middle of traffic is fine/cute. Shall we break up? Shall we be together? Couldn’t they just have stayed together forever?
*Gif of Jonas and Eva*
WTF (emoji)
Bad at scoring/checking out? Don’t worry about it, Chris will show you how it’s done… First: do not leave any doubt. have you heard that you have to make eye contact, thereafter look bashfully at the floor and then look up again? Forget it. Here are to words that count: stare and suck. So make sure to have something appropriate to put in your mouth, like a spoon or love on sticks or ice-cream. You can eventually go for Sana’s favorite tool: carrot.
*Gif of Chris*
Oh run (emoji)
Eva has made out with guy-Chris and his girlfriend found out. Not good. Sana’s look/expression scream “Oh run” when Iben’s gang comes after Eva and right after Eva got a “slap” in the face. Conclusion: don’t fight. But if you absolutely must, go with Sana - she has control over her nerves.
*Gif of Sana + Eva getting hit by Iben*
Never forget (emoji)
This scene is SKAM. This is the gang on their way to party - and they look awesome”. Put your hands up if you’ve NEVER blasted “Dick in the Air” on your phone while walking in slow motion a summer day? Nobody? Exactly. I rest my case.
*Gif of the girls squad walking in slow motion*
Sobbing (emoji)
“If I see you now I will say things that I’ll regret later so I’m suggesting that I’ll call you when I’m ready to hear your explanation on why you have chosen to fuck up everything between us”…When you don’t even bother to use any kind of punctuation you’re angry. The text is bad. I am sobbing more than Eva over this text. And we have to take the transition to the next clip, with Imogen Heap’s “Hide and Seek”. The scene is a little sad and empty just like Eva is feeling.
*Gif of Eva getting the text from Jonas*
Best message (emoji)
This post if FUNNY! What (Eva thought) would be a romantic cabin trip, turned out to be a dramatic day at Hotel Cæsar. Guys used their time on smoking in hiding, while Eva used her time on trying to read Jonas’ texts. Isak does not wait long before he makes a joke out of it all.
“Picture of a chat between Isak, Jonas and Eva”
Season 2
WOW (emoji)
If there is something Noora can, it is putting the Magnusson guys in their place. In the first season she went after Willian, and now it is the big brothers turn. That slue snake didn’t know where to look when Noora came after him with all the different laws for child pornography, threats and coercion - yes, and the alcohol law on top of it all. One more time - hat off (bow down)
*Gif of Noora*
LOL (emoji)
You know when fish cakes are life, but someone else ate them? Me neither. But it was such that Noora has to eat two fish cakes at five, and it is extremely annoying when Eskild, the stealer, eats them. Even though it is bad to admit the situation is pretty recognizable. Who hasn’t gotten home after an extremely bad day, and a trifle makes you totally lose it? The looks from Linn completes this scene.
*Gif of Noora, Eskild and Linn*
Aww (emoji)
There are more “aww-moments” in this season, like when Noora plays guitar and sings for William, or when she is running after him after the party, and they finally get their first kiss. But the sweetest moment has to be when they had the talk. Noora who has just “I was afraid that you just went around and thought that we were together or something” and William who was just like “We are together though” while Noora was like “No!” and William “Yes, we are”. DOT/DONE. Young love!
*Gif of Noora and William*
WTF (emoji)
Monday 29th of February at 4.35 pm is one of the SKAM-history moments that are hard to forget: we are introduced to Eskild. Or more correctly: we are introduced to both Linn and Eskild - two fantastic people who Noora lives with in Kollektivet. Linn is laying in fetal position in the bed in a dark sleeping room, while our first meeting with Eskild is a little less innocent. When Noora opens the door to his room we skim that he’s… very well treated by another guy to “Circle of Life” from The Lion King. Our biggest wish now is a spin-off-series from Kollektivet with Eskild and Linn as the main characters. Please!
*Gif of Noora walking in on Eskild*
Oh run (emoji)
Sana’s revenge was not a good idea since it wasn’t Camilla and the gang who created the hate account. When the hijab-police came walking towards the gang in the school yard, there is only one thing to do - as Sana said herself: “Honestly - run! RUN!”
*Gif of The girls running*
Never forget (emoji)
William getting out of his nice car in slow motion here. The clip being slow motion is so effective, and the guys look så cool - these are the bad boys with a big “b”. In the clip Kanye West is appropriately sining “I need a slow motion video right now!, and now i feel like we need a gif in slow motion - here you go:
*Gid of William getting out of his car*
Sobbing (emoji)
Seeing Noora run across the school yard after William when he thinks that she slept with his brother Nico is heartbreaking. “I just trust myself. I’ve learned that no one is really there when you need help”, is Feiten from Kolboten singing, and the tones makes the scene even more sad. Noora throws herself over William who is just removing her from him and leaves her alone on the ground. Fortunately, the girls came running towards her.
*Gif of Noora running after William*
Best text (emoji)
Here we could’ve chosen all the texts from Eskild, but we are only choosing one. Since we are already trying to make a spin-off-series from Kollektivet happen, we have to choose this chat between Eskild and Noora which shows how good this spin-off-series could be.
*Picture of the chat between Eskild and Noora*
Season 3
WOW (emoji)
Goosebumps alarm when Nils Bech sings “O Helga Natt” in the church! The music amplifies the nervous atmosphere in which Isak receives a sensitive text from Even.
*Gif of Isak receiving a text from Even*
The moment Isak gets up from the church bench almost gets me to jump from the chair. “What happens now?” “Is it going well Even????”. Fortunately, the neck-breaking seance ends well. <3
*Gif of Isak and Even*
LOL (emoji)
Who would’ve thought that Magnus would twitch at this extremely direct and rare pickup line? Not bad though!
*Gif of Magnus and Vilde*
But nothing is better than these two rare people getting together. It is totally obvious that these two are meant to be.
*Gif of Magnus and Vilde*
Aww (emoji)
You know that feeling of being in love where time stops and everything stops existing?
The scene with Isak and Even the day after they found each other gives me this nice, new lovers kind of feeling. Now it is you two - and nothing can stand between you. Love has Provisionals. <3
*Gif of Isak and Even*
WTF (emoji)
What is going on with Even and paper? I don’t think I was the only one who raised raised her/his eyebrows when he emptied the dispenser on the wall from paper. If it was a bad score tip or him just being weird is unknown. But one thing is for sure: it works on Isak!
*Gif of Isak and Even*
Oh run (emoji)
Isak is having a bad time because he 1. is in love with Even and 2. hasn’t been able to tell his friends that he is queer. When he finally has the courage to come out, Jonas is the first one to know. The way Jonas reacts just shows how nice he is. Me <3 Jonas even more after this
*Gif of Jonas and Isak*
Never forget (emoji)
The excitement of Even and Isak is there. On the sofa, with a girl, they both throw glances at each other. But just wait till they want to be with each other. As good as the jubilee stands in the ceiling they run away from the party, just the two of them. It gets even better when they get/share their first kiss… and it’s even under water!
*Gif of Isak and Even kissing*
Sobbing (emoji)
Talk about driving my feelings up and down a gigantic mountain. In byrjinga it is just Isak + Even = *heart eyes emojis* and everything is good. But suddenly Even starts to act weird without Isak knowing why. Even just disappears from the hotel room. He just has to go out and buy food, without any clothing. Isak is stressed and scared that Even just disappeared out of the door and on the same night it came out that Even is bipolar. The moment Isak is told that he is bipolar is so extremely sad/hard. Especially since Sonja tells him that his feelings towards Even aren’t real. Stupid Sonja!
*Gif of Isak and Sonja*
Best text (emoji)
So. Linn. Is. The. Best. She is extremely weird, pessimistic and funny in all the clips she is in. And in this chat from Kollektivet she proves once again how good it is to have her in our lives. Everyone needs a Linn in their life. <3
*Picture of a chat*
Season 4
WOW (emoji)
No one that the love story between William and Noora was going to end the way it did. No one was ready for William to return the moment he did either. It was mildly said a shock to see his car roll up in the drive way at Chris’. But it was good to see the return with a slow motion filming of William! For me he has now become the defintion of slow motion.
*Gif of William, Noora and Sana*
LOL (emoji)
It is so fun to watch the girls flip out when they discover a room full of slightly dressed/clothed guys. But again it is good to not flip out here. The very, very best thing is the return of Chris and her spoon (which many may remember from the first season where she had a little crush on Isak)
*Gif of the girl squad checking out balloon squad*
Aww (emoji)
When Sana finally gets confirmed that Yousef is in love with her - and not Noora. Oooh, it is so good/cute. It is like the lump you had stuck in your stomach just disappeared with one wink. It got replaced with love butterflies.
*Gif of Sana looking at Yousef’s texts to Noora*
And the glances they both share right after are just amazing
*Gif of Sana and Yousef*
A little bonus here that everyone has been waiting for since season 1 FINALLY happened. Eva and jonas getting back together. <3
*Gif of Jonas and Eva*
WTF (emoji)
But the moment before Eva and Jonas get back together is the weirdest moment. Guy-Chris and Emma fall in love at first sight?! Have they not met each other before? This is with no doubt one of the moments that are written in SKAM-history.
*Gif of guy-Chris and Emma*
But what is even more of a WTF moment is when Linn shows off her wild side (?) who no one thought she had. Linn. <3
*Gif of Vilde and Linn*
Oh run (emoji)
Sana: we have to get that bus
Noora: But we don’t have the money!!
Sana: I’ll fix it.
It can seem like everything totally blew up when Sana decided to buy a buss for over 200.000 kr. It also did - but it doesn’t get any less fun to watch for that reason. Go Sana!
*Gif of the girl Squad*
Never forget (emoji)
This clip made me laugh! Sana has done enough of things she is regretting and now she thinks that the girl squad have turned their backs on her. It turns out she was totally wrong. She has the best friends in the world. <3
*Gif of the girls turning up in the van*
Sobbing (emoji)
Love hurts like they say. And here it really hurts for Sana. Imagine finding your best friend on the dance floor making out with the guy you’re in love with… Ouch.
*Gif of Noora and Yousef making out in front of Sana*
Best text (emoji)
Even though the main product of the series are the clips, the chats are also a huge part of the series. It makes the characters even more real for us. The characters on the show follow Pradise Hotel (a reality show), therefore it is so good that this reality show has SKAM-wicked.

catch me a catch [3/?]
chapter 1, 2
Even Bech Næsheim walks into school on Friday morning with a kick in his step, he doesn’t avoid or stares down anyone who’s gaze lingers on him a touch too long. Instead, he flashes them a smile, that only grows amused when he gets back startled looks in return. Okay, so maybe he hadn’t been the friendliest looking person since first arriving at Nissen, but to be fair, there hadn’t been anything at the school that made him smile before.
There is one now.
Even
(08:25)
Where are you?
Isak
(08:26)
At my locker.
Even
(08:28)
Ok. See you in a few.
Isak
(08:28)
;)
Even feels his cheeks ache as he looks down at his phone with a dopey expression but he can’t stop himself now anymore then the last few days since Isak and he started texting. He makes his way down the halls of the school like a man on a mission. Isak and his locker his goal. Spotting him a few feet away exactly where Isak said he’d be, he isn't surprised to see who’s next to him chatting away. Even shakes his head, a smile tugging on his lips as he makes his way to the two people he likes at Nissen.
“Hey,” he calls out seconds before coming to a stop next to Isak, getting the same greeting in return from his best friend and the younger boy. “What’s going on?”
Isak looks up at him, his green eyes bright and lovely, perfect for Even to get lost in, except for Isak’s next words. “Mikael and I were just discussing which franchise is better, he says Transformers, I say The Fast and the Furious, what do you think?”
Even stares at Isak in what he’s sure is horror unable to answer when he hears a snicker to his side, he turns to Mikael who is biting down on his fist, his face slowly turning colors as he tries to hold in his unmistakable laughter. He meets Even’s gaze, with a shamelessly pleased look.
“Oh my god,” Isak gets out as he too starts to laugh. “I didn’t believe him when he said you’d react this way to that comment, but look at your face! The fear and disappointment, priceless!”
“Okay first,” Even starts, giving Isak a sad look. “That was mean of you, also don’t go along with Mikael’s ideas, I’m fragile and can’t actually deal if you start to apprentice his evil ways.”
Isak nods, patting his arm in understanding that is belittled by the smirk on his face.
Mikael snickers again.
Even turns back to his friend.
“As for you, don’t corrupt him with crap that might as well be two hours of commercials and car porn, he’s still young and pure. Don’t ruin him.”
“Transformers 4 made 1.1 billion dollars,” Mikael says.
At the same time, Isak adds. “I actually like The Fast and the Furious, even Tokyo Drift.”
Even takes a deep calming breath and reminds himself that he loves Mikael and that he really likes Isak and is likely on his way to falling in love with him. “Okay, so both of those statements hurt me, but I’m going to be the bigger person and forgive you both, that how magnanimous I am.”
“What you are is a movie snob,” Isak teases gently, his smile soft and sweet.
“I am not a snob,” Even argues with a frown. “I just have taste beyond metal crashing into metal and girls in outfits that make no sense for the action sequence happening around them as the latest top 40 hip-hop song plays in the background.”
“Okay,” Isak says soothingly, placing his hand on Even’s arm giving it a squeeze and Even feels a tug in his stomach at the casual touch, reveling when it lingers. Over the last few days, both he and Isak had started to introduce small touches into their friendship. Everything about their interactions was such an innocent form of flirtation, light touches on arms, a graze of fingers when they exchanged something, shy smiles and soft blushes. It was all soft and sweet like Isak himself and Even found himself loving every second of it.
“You’re trying to pacify me,” Even accuses with a pout.
“Never,” Isak answers with wide eyes, smile amused.
Even turns to Mikael, blushing a bit when he sees the smirk he’s giving them as he observes their interaction, he powers through and focuses on the situation at hand. “And you, you keep mention Bay, and at first I thought you were just messing with me, but now I’m starting to think you’re actually a fan, which if so I’m going to need my friendship bracelet back.”
Mikael snorts at that crossing his arms over his chest. “Really? That’s what would break our dynamic duo? I kill someone-“
“I’d help you hide the body,” Even finishes for him, biting at the corner of his lip to keep from grinning.”
Mikael nods, his eyes dancing with amusement. “Right, but if I actually like Michael Bay-“
“Then what you’ve killed is this friendship,” Even continues breaking into a large smile. “Yes.”
Isak lets out a chuckle as he turns to his locker. “That is melodramatic as fuck, maybe you two should be in front of the camera instead of behind it, drama queens. So much for 3rd years being mature.”
Even lets out a gasp that is echoed by Mikael which causes Isak to let out an inelegant sound of mockery. “And my point is proven.”
“Mouthy 1st years,” Mikael shakes his head. “I’ll let you deal with him brother, I don’t find him as cute as you do.”
He fist bumps Isak before giving Even a quick hug. “Later boys, enjoy your awkward mating dance.”
Even watches Isak’s face take a rosy hue at the comment and he feels his own face go warm. “Sorry about that.”
Isak looks down at his shoes and Even finds himself doing the same, only looking back up when he feels Isak’s eyes on him, his gaze soft but uncertain. “It’s fine, I know he’s joking, it doesn’t mean anything.”
Even licks his lips out of nervous habit, takes a step forward and stops. By now most of the hall has cleared, and any second now the bell is going to ring. He looks at Isak and waits, letting out a puff of air pass his lips when Isak takes a step forward himself. He reaches out and holds on to Isak’s jacket lightly if anyone is watching there is still enough space between them not to raise any eyebrows, but as they look at each other, there might as well not be any space between them at all. Isak lets out a small gasp, and it sends Even’s pulse racing because he sees the realization in Isak’s eyes and there nervousness there too but also a hopefulness that he knows Isak can read in his own expression.
“Yeah, he was teasing,” Even starts his voice low, gentle and full of meaning. “But this means everything, okay?”
Isak nods, still bashful as he looks at Even from underneath his fringe and Even wants nothing more than to reach and touch those golden locks, push them away from Isak’s eyes and get his fill of Isak’s baby face.
Later. He tells himself.
“You got anything going on this afternoon?” he asks, hopeful when Isak shakes his head. “Want to come back to my place, we can watch some movies. I need to start your education before Mikael ruins you.”
“He said that you’ll put on soppy shit that will make me cry,” Isak answers with a grin. “His words.”
“He’s a film student,” Even murmurs his tone exaggerated which gets a giggle out of Isak. “Ridiculous.”
“You both are,” Isak teases, grinning when he gives him a glare. “I’m free this afternoon.”
“Yeah?” Even asks, a smile on his own face when Isak nods. “Want to meet outside when you’re done with class?”
“I get out at 3:45,” Isak answers just as the bell rings, they’re both late, but Isak’s smile tells Even that he doesn’t care any more than he does.
“I’ll see you then.”
 ________
Time seems to speed up and slow down all at once for Even but finally, 3:45 in the afternoon comes, and he waits by the entrance of Nissen texting with Mikael as he waits for Isak to come out.
Mikael
(15:46)
Missing your last class of the day for a boy. Shame.
Even
(15:47)
Take notes for me.
Mikael
(15:47)
Will do. Now do me a favor and don’t show him Australia first, I don’t care how hot Hugh Jackman is. It’s way too long, and the voice over narration of the little kid will put him to sleep.
Even snorts as he reads the message, sends back a rolling eye emoji and pockets his phone just in time to see Isak walk out of school, his pace a bit fast.
“Hi,” Isak says breathlessly as he comes up to him.
“Hi,” he answers back, quirking an eyebrow. “In a hurry?”
Isak blushes a bit, looking around for a moment. “Rather leave before my friends stop us and ask where or what we’re doing.”
Even looks at Isak for a moment before nodding in understanding, knowing what Isak isn’t saying. So far when he’s been around Isak, it’s either been one on one or with Mikael around, a silent agreement between them not to approach each other when Isak is around his group of friends. Other have seen them interact he knows, even Mikael has commented on the looks Isak gets when either of them approaches the boy and Even can only guess if or what his friends are asking him about them. But one thing is for sure, Isak isn’t ready for everyone to know what’s happening between them and Even not only needs to be okay with that but needs to make sure Isak knows he’s okay with it, especially since the younger boy is giving him a worried look.
Even smiles softly, gesturing with his head. “Let’s get out of here then, I don’t really feel like sharing you this afternoon anyway.”
Isak smiles at that, bright like the sun and it’s more than enough for Even. “Lead the way.”
_______
“Home sweet home,” Even proclaims as he opens the door to his apartment, taking off his coat and shoes.
“Nice,” Isak answers as he does the same looking around quickly.
“Mom and I like color,” Even says as he leads Isak down a hallway to his room.
“Is it just the two of you?” Isak asks stepping into the room, his eyes moving quickly around it, Even watches him as it pauses on items here and there, his gaze lingering for a moment on the two guitars by the window before moving to his art wall.
“Yeah,” Even answers still watching him, happy when Isak lets out a chuckle at some of the cartoons he’s drawn. “My dad lives close by with his wife and her kids.”
Isak looks at him at that, worry on his face.
“They’re very nice,” Even reassures him. “My dad and I meet up a couple of days out of the month to eat and catch up.”
Isak nods turning back towards the art wall. “These are good.”
Even shrugs at the compliment. “They’re just doodles.”
“They’re still good,” Isak repeats.
“Thanks.”
Isak gives a small nod.
“You want something to drink?” Even asks as he throws his hoodie over a chair. “I'm a bad host, my mom would be pissed if she was here.”
“She at work?” Isak questions as he steps away from the art wall and steps towards him and just like that, just that question changes the feel of the room.
“Yeah,” Even starts off, slowly and take a step towards Isak himself. “She’s actually gone the weekend, she works in pharmaceuticals and had a conference out of town, left this morning.”
Isak looks at him for a moment and Even holds himself still, holds his breath as Isak studies him, searching for something with those green eyes of his. He must find what he’s looking because he nods to himself.
“Okay.”
“Okay?”
Isak nods again, getting closer to him until he’s standing right in front of him.
“I’m going to do something now, and it’s potentially embarrassing because I might be an idiot and I might be reading this all wrong,” Isak says in a rush of words that are almost too fast to follow. “If I’m wrong don’t freak out.”
Even frowns confused. “What are you-“
Isak closes the gap between them and goes on his toes, his cupid lips press light and soft against his, nothing more. It’s possibly the most innocent kiss he’s ever had, even at thirteen when he first discovered kissing it wasn’t as innocent as this. It melts Even’s insides, and if he was half-way in love with this sweet blonde boy, he’s all the way now. He feels Isak go back on his heel breaking the connection between their lips and Even follows. He’s not about to let this be the end of their first kiss. He lowers his head, his mouth seeking Isak’s, swallowing Isak’s surprised squeak. His kiss is gentle like Isak’s but not innocent in any way, he licks at Isak’s bottom lip appreciating the moan Isak lets out and the way his hands come up to Even’s waist, his finger gripping his sides tightly. Even’s own hands go to Isak’s hair and face, holding him where he wants, he sinks his tongue into Isak’s mouth, and it’s his turn to groan at the sweet taste he finds.
He pulls back after he’s had his fill but already knows he’s going to become addicted to that taste. He looks at Isak, who eyes are still shut.
“I wasn’t wrong,” Isak whispers as he opens his eyes, a small silly smile on his face as he looks back at him with awe that humbles Even. “You do like me.”
Even decide at that moment that this boy, this beautiful boy it his to protect and cherish. He runs his thumb over Isak’s cheek, his stomach clenching at the way Isak goes even softer at the caress like he’s love-starved. “No, baby,” he whispers, leaning in to press small kisses over the bridge of Isak’s nose, filing away every soft sound Isak lets out, the way he curves his body to get closer to Even. Even makes it easier for him and pulls him into a hug, rubbing his back as Isak tucks his face into the crook of Even’s neck and lets out a content sigh. “You definitely aren’t wrong about that.”

even + isak + music
even realising that isak doesn’t experience music like he does so he makes him lie down in bed and listen while he explains what he hears like do you even hear those layers and this part is my favourite and she uses her voice like a musical instrument and doesn’t this make you feel alive????
late night arguments that aren’t really arguments about whose music they’re going to listen to and even being like “your taste would be so bad without my influence” and isak being like “excuse you my music taste is the best thanks” and then after that continues for a while he finally gives into even bc really who cares as long as they’re listening together
even texting isak new songs he finds or has known for ages and slowly it’s starting to become a habit for him to send isak one every night before bed even if they’re literally next to each other (which lets be honest is like 95% of the time)
isak surprising even by creating a playlist called i love you more than cardamom for valentines day and it’s literally filled with his most favourite but cheesy af songs and even can’t stop smiling while they listen to it that night
even having a thought or feeling or anything about every single song he listens to and explaining it all between kisses in bed with Isak while they go through his whole library for days and days and days
even walking in on isak one day lip syncing to 5 fine frøkner just looking at this beautiful boy singing to songs he pretends he hates and then when he realises the song is on repeat jumping in for Gabrielle part 2 while isak is super embarrassed about being caught but also soooo into it
isak knows even has had a bad day but doesn’t want to talk about it so instead he just gets his phone and together they listen to some of their faves and chill and after a while even feels much much better and even lip syncs to that one stupid song again
even playing his guitar and isak randomly making up lyrics with that adorable english accent and even slowly melting until he can’t handle it anymore and has to kiss him
isak opening up even to even more music which even didn’t expect because helloooo he has like 4000 songs in his library already and how is that even possible?????
even listening to literally any song before (and lets be honest after as well) the pool kiss and they all somehow seem to be about isak and his golden hair and his lips and his face and the way he smiles and it’s how he knows how head over heels he is for this boy
even dragging isak to any concert around oslo and isak hating it half the time because really what is this crap but then he sees how alive the music makes even feel so he secretly starts loving it and looking forward to it just so he can see that twinkle in evens eyes
even randomly throwing his game controller to the side while they’re gaming with the boy squad to ask siri what song is playing in the game bc its just sooooo good and isak taking the opportunity the distraction caused to kick all their butts for once
even randomly serenading isak when he sees him in the hallways with a new song and isak is so embarrassed (but also really loves it which he would never ever admit) and the boy squad loves it so much that they actually start to place themselves where they know even is going to be just so they can tease isak some more
Bonus: just to tease him some more one day they act like background dancers/singers while even does the thing and then the tables are turned bc now isak has a bunch of new material like hey nice belly dancing moves magnus do you use those on vilde too???? and honestly Jonas your eyebrows were moving more than you you were so bad so they finally finally stop
even creating a playlist specifically for making out with isak thats just full of chill songs that make his head empty and more focused and isak picking up on the make out music so he turns it on when he really wants to get even to himself
even catching isak crying to a song even introduced him to bc "its just so good but so sad” and “thanks for introducing me to this baby” and “see what you did!!1” and even smiling and teasing him a little and then kissing his tears away before they listen to it again together so even can comfort him
isak picking up on evens mood by the lyrics he sends him so when it gets particularly bad he knows to take care of even a little more

isak is really smart. he’s a good student. he cares about his grades, he always gets good grades. he’s particularly knowledgeable when it comes to science because it’s a subject that interests him a lot. and sometimes he’ll explain random scientific phenomenons to even, spontaneously. and he’ll sound really passionate when he tries to understand the meaning of things. and one time even tells him “you’re so freaking brilliant” because even admires isak and isak’s mind so much. and he loves learning from him. all these things isak makes him discover and understand. but when he says it, isak replies “me?” and even answers “yeah, i can’t get over how smart you are. you tell me all these things i don’t know about. and it’s so…impressive to see how your mind works. your mind fascinates me”
and isak’s a little surprised, because it’s not something he’s used to hear? it’s actually not something he’s ever heard. but then again the way he allows himself express what’s on his mind when he’s with even is also not something he’s ever experienced with anyone else before. he just feels so…free? when he’s with even. but still, even telling him that just takes him aback. because even is the brightest person he’s ever known
and all he can say is “but you’re the freaking genius. you have references for like…everything. it’s like there’s no artist or art piece or singer or song or actor or director or movie you don’t know of. and you, like…make up these stories out of nowhere, just like that, and it always sounds brilliant, like they could all be best sellers or something. and your drawings…you know i can barely draw a smiley face, but your drawings are all so cool. like, the coolest. and you play the guitar like you could go on tours or something. and you’re so good with words and stuff. why’d you think i’m always asking for your help when i’m writing essays?” and isak’s eyes are a little wide, like what he’s telling even is just so obvious, like someone would have to try really hard to not notice how brilliant even is
and the thing is that even doesn’t need isak to validate his talents, even isn’t brilliant because isak says he is. but still, isak noticing all of that and sounding so genuinely admirative, it means a lot. it makes even’s heart race a little, makes him feel all warm inside. and isak saying all of that makes him truly believe that where he is right now, with isak, is where he belongs. isak makes him feel so good about himself. they both make each other feel so good about themselves. and there’s that sense of relief when you realize that the person you’re in love with not only notices, but enjoys all these aspects of yourself that make up who you truly are. like you don’t have to hide. like being yourself is not only good enough, it’s the best
and it’s one of the reasons why isak and even are so good for each other: they bring out the best in each other. and their relationship doesn’t simply allow them to be better when they’re together, it encourages them to be better as individuals. isak and even notice these seeds of potential in each other, and just like the right amount of water, they help these seeds blossom. and over time what is hidden under soil sees the light of day, and it comes to life, and their gardens become brighter, fuller

Jonas x Noora
HEAR ME OUT ON THIS, I’VE DONE A LOT OF THINKING ON THIS!! So I saw a post that briefly mentioned a Jonas and Noora friendship, and it kind of sparked something in me. pt. 2
•We know Jonas has a lot of strong views on capitalism and Noora is a proud feminist. I could definitely see the two of them sharing passion for a variety of topics. For example when Jonas calls Isak out for pointing out that guy at the studio is gay. And how Noora had strong views on the role of violence in society. I think they are both pretty well-rounded in their opinions and knowledgeable about a variety of topics.
• Also the both of them are so put together. Definitely a power couple in the making.
•Jonas hasn’t had any serious relationships since 1st year, and Eva and Chris have something going on so I don’t see that relationship coming back. Noora and William are just a big ???
•They probably see eachother quite a bit, with Noora being Isak’s roommate and Jonas being his best friend. I can imagine one day Jonas comes over and Noora is reading or writing something on a topic Jonas has a joint interest in. They get into a bit of a heated conversation and both of them are lowkey shook to find someone else equally passionate about said topic(which ends up short-lived with the appearance of Isak).
•Maybe one day Jonas comes over, and Isak is busy (maybe he’s on the phone or he’s out a little longer than expected with Even). He just decides to wait for Isak because they have something important to do, but then Noora arrives and her eyes are kind of puffy. Jonas being a nice guy is just like “what’s up??” and she tries to play it off but ends up unloading on him about William.
• After initial meltdown she continues to come to him for advice as he is her only guy (friend?) source. They start to purposely spend time together, and initially it’s under the guise of Noora getting advice on William but they quickly find that they get along very well.
• Eva is the first to sense something going on with them. She’s friends with the both of them and she can’t help to notice that the two of them talk about each other a lot, not excessively but it’s an awful lot for two people who didn’t interact at all before. She talks to Isak about it but unfortunately he’s reverted from his snakey ways and refuses to get involved.
• They would finally get together at one of the Kosegruppa parties. Perhaps Jonas has had a bit too much to drink. He bumps into Noora and they talk for a little and he can’t help but to lean in to kiss her.
•Noora would momentarily be s h o o k, but she got over the shock she’d kiss him right back. Cue smirking Eva, Isak shaking his head, and varying shocked faces from the rest of their friends.
• Okay but imagine how good they would be for eachother:
• Jonas would tease her for her taste in music but when she gets down he’d gladly play all of her favorite JB songs on the guitar.
• Noora weaning Jonas off the weed by helping him identify and unload some of the stress that caused him to start smoking in the first place.
• Jonas teaching Noora how to unwind. We know that she is very headstrong and prefers to handle things on her own. Jonas respects that and he never forces her to talk about things, rather he shows her his favorite places and songs and shows in an attempt to make her feel better.
• Noora would love Narcos, and she can understand what they’re saying because of her time in Spain. Jonas stops watching it with Isak (who has been much more vocal about his lack of interest since his self-discovery) and it becomes his and Noora’s thing.
• Jonas teaching Noora to skate, because Noora gets tired of watching him from the sidelines.
• They’re both pretty independent people. They can go days without texting and they don’t often spend time with each others friends (Jonas hates the gossip and Noora hates the sexist video games they play). They are both very loyal to eachother so trust comes pretty easy.
• Neither of them are big on PDA, but Jonas always has an arm around her shoulder or on her waist to show the world “This beautiful girl right here, she’s all mine.”
• The one time-that-is-not-to-be-discussed where Noora convinced Jonas to wear some of her lipstick.
• Jonas, Noora, Eva and Isak would form their own mini squad. Cue lots of embarrassing stories about Isak (and a couple about Eva).
• Noora tries to teach Jonas to cook, but gets fed up with his teasing about how healthy everything is (“it’s like I’m dating a rabbit” “you say you won’t try weed but you clearly love grass”) and kicks him out the kitchen
• Isak bitching about how Noora is stealing his best friend but then Jonas reminds him that he basically has a live-in boyfriend.
• Ignoring eachother for hours because one of them proved the other wrong or made a really good point. (Nothing that can’t be fixed with kisses and corny jokes.)
• Noora shaping Jonas’s brows, but he ends up looking so odd she never does it again.
