Big fan of the idea of Hiccup not being Berk's only hiccup/runt, he's just the only one that survived to adulthood.

Maybe even that's why people disliked him so much, because the other kids while sickly and weak, were ultimately harmless.

Meanwhile Hiccup was actively–albeit unintentionally–causing destruction and wasting resources, but being the chiefs son was probably not getting as severe punishment for it compared to the repercussions anyone else would face for, like, blowing up a building.

Like imagine these scrawny little kids are essentially dropping like flies every devastating winter, food shortage, or particularly bad dragon raid. People are constantly mourning their children, but this little fuck always causing problems and never experiencing real consequences for it (at least in the eyes of most), always somehow pulls through (sheer spite, probably). It's unfair to blame him, but then again experiencing loss always seems deceptively easier when you have something to direct your anger at and irrational things like that are just human nature

Where did this idea that aggressive harassment, sending death threats, bullying, doxxing, telling people to kill themselves, using homophobic and antisemitic slurs, attacking people’s looks, encouraging hate crimes, threatening to release sex videos, and engaging in a wide range of genuinely psychotic behaviors from behind a screen is reasonable and acceptable and even necessary “progressive” activism come from?

Yes, this is about the Noah Schnapp situation, but it’s about more than that, cause I’ve noticed this kind of mindset becoming more and more normalized, and I’ll never agree with it. How does this kind of behavior help the Palestinian people (or any other cause you’re being an “activist” for?) How does this kind of behavior encourage Noah or anyone else to change their views? How does wishing for Hamas to brutally murder the entire Schnapp family lead to peace and justice? How does saying Noah should dig up his dead dog and eat it stop bombs from dropping on Gaza???

I think all of us can agree that what’s happening in Israel/Palestine is horrible and stomach-churning. And I think most of us can agree that Noah wielding “Zionism is sexy” stickers when children are dying is tone-deaf and extraordinarily foolish at best. Please don’t mistake my words for saying that no one should ever be criticized or an endorsement of Noah’s reckless actions. But if you don’t have ANY compassion for the anxieties Jewish people face at a time when antisemitism is skyrocketing, that’s very concerning to me. Why can’t two things be true at once?

There’s this insidious notion that cruelty/calls for suicide/bullying are tools to weaponize against “bad” people, as if human decency, kindness, and empathy are food items to be snatched away whenever folks are deemed problematic (whether the reason is valid or not). People fancy themselves radicals, as if they are fighting in the French Revolution, when they are… not. I promise you that tweeting like this all day doesn’t make you a hero. I just imagine TFP Megs having to look up at Bay OP, scared shitless as Bay OP glares down at him like he just insulted his carrier. Bay OP bitch-slapped a Dinobot (Grimlock) over twice/three times his size like it was nothing, he would destroy TFP Megs.

I was going to sit here and make a joke about how Bay! Optimus was so much shorter than his Counterpart and Megatron in TFP! Because I when I was first researching it I saw he was about 22 feet tall compared to their enormous 30’ and 32’ feet… but then I found sources saying Bay! Was 28’ or that TFP OP was 35…. DOES ANYONE KNOW THEIR CANNONICAL ACTUAL HEIGHTS???? Am I just blind???? Do I not know how to research??? Does anyone have an official chart???

Anyway, Bay! Op IS the goat when it comes to violence no matter what size, but I had such a funny image of him being a smidge taller than bumble and looking UP at Megatron saying those same things and still getting that same reaction. AND THEN Megatron- if he ever found out about his Bay! Counterpart would have to deal with the fact that he had a stint where he went mad in the middle of Africa with transformer organic babies (????) and ended up stranded on earth with little to nothing anyway being hunted down by three different organizations so Dude is pressed to say the least. (“the self beneath is extraordinarily faint.”) his job relies very heavily on his cultivated image - he can't escape that even if he wants to, and he doesn't know that he wants to. can he tell where the image ends and the person begins? what if there's nothing beneath? the mask has grown into his skin and he can't afford the blemish of removing it; maintaining it is integral to his job.

he has to keep being aventurine of stratagems, because aventurine of stratagems has to keep existing. he does not fully belong to himself. he'd vowed to become a stoneheart in the very same moment he lost all motivation and reason to do so - now that he's finally found the will to live for himself, he's trapped in the amber of that decision.

(and when he manages to crack the literal and metaphorical amber... the stonehearts vote to repair his cornerstone. what a mercy-stroke of luck.)

he's not afraid of tarnishing his reputation - how can he be, when he maintains a precise level of intentional tarnish? he's not afraid of being seen as a former slave, or he wouldn't openly display his brand as if it were just another accessory. he's not afraid of people thinking he's weak.

i think light yagami is "socially adept" in terms of being able to reason out relatively well what to say and do to come off as a harmless and good and polite young man who is likeable to be around. however i do not think "socially adept" (or "neurotypical") typically comes with having to preface every other normal-passing action and statement with a minor crisis of "ah shit. quick, what would i say/do in response to this if i was light yagami, a normal and nice and respectable young man?"

everyone likes to talk about him talking about kira in third person but can we acknowledge that he also talks about LIGHT in third person. i'm not adding manga panels at 3:57am but y'all know exactly which ones i mean

i think its okay for people to be upset when people who were important to their childhood die. like, its not impossible for people to be upset about someone dying and to be upset that said person was also a bad individual. people are multifaceted and i think social media has warped the way a lot of you treat grief and those around you as a whole.
