man I love small fandoms so much more than big ones

like 12 people might read the little 800 word one shot that I post in the small fandom but ⅓ of them will comment the most lovingly handcrafted words that will make my whole week

while 300 people will read a 20k one shot I post in a bigger fandom and 5 of them will leave a comment and only some of those mention anything to do with the fandom let alone the work itself. They're barely anything more than an "I love this" and it leaves me feeling like I'm getting scraped by bots low-key.

like I love getting comments don't get me wrong, and I know not everyone can be or wants to write a whole dissertation in the comments but this era has left me so jaded and with it being such an active and big fandom I just know that there's at least one person out there putting that shit into a chatbot machine learning bullshit thing

I don't make my works accessable to only logged in users just so people who can't for whatever reason still have access to my works. and bot scraping is a risk I'm willing to take for them but like it still doesn't mean I like it

im going back to my small fandom
