☆ autumn - c.sb
synopsis -> the transition of summer to make him fall.
-> soobin x reader
-> childhood friends to lovers, fake dating, mutual pinning, sunshine and sunshine protector relationship, slowburn.
-> warnings! yn's slightly dense, super long
-> notes! heavily inspired by the webtoon our secret alliance, please read it 😢 it's so cute and jaeha reminds me of soobin a lot.
Tumblr media
"an alliance?" soobin peeked over his phone, looking at you like you grew two heads. you nodded your head, falling onto the bed, right below soobin's feet.
"think about it, if we lie to our parents that we are dating, they wouldn't suspect a thing when we go out! they'll think that we'll be going on a date or something, but we're actually sneaking out to do our own things." you explained as if you were a genius solving a difficult maths question. soobin placed his phone down to look at you, his head hovering over yours.
"this better work, if not i'm telling your parents about the vase you broke the other day." you gasped at his audacity to even bring that up, you stuck out your pinky finger, "i promise that this is a good idea." soobin eyed you suspiciously before locking his pinky with yours.
"i trust you." you beamed at his words, for the first time in a while soobin finally agreed to one of your plans, and did not call you stupid for it.
from then on, the both of you have been heading out for your so called "study dates" to prove to your parents that even though you're "dating", your studies are still your top priority. however, as soon as you step out of your house, ensuring that the door is sealed shut, you and soobin part ways almost instantly, sending him a reminder on the agreed timing to meet up and head home for dinner.
it also helped that practically everyone, even the teachers, thought that both of you were dating, the way soobin would walk to class with you or the way you would cheerfully run up to him, telling him everything that has happened to you throughout the day.
to you, this alliance was fun, you enjoyed spending time with soobin, now that mid terms were around the corner, the two of you have been studying together more than usual, unlike the past where he would go gaming with his friends and you would go out on dates with people you met online. you loved your time with soobin, more than you expected.
on the other hand, soobin didn't like the mushy feeling he'd always feel when you come around, he hated the way his heart would race when you wrap your arm around his.
"i think i'm sick." soobin mumbled, his face slightly flushed, his heart banging against his ribcage as he recalled the way you waved your mock test at him with a bright smile, telling him that you've finally passed the subject you've been constantly failing, later rambling about how this year is going to be your year.
"more like lovesick.." beomgyu gagged, rolling his eyes, "why did you even agree to the alliance." he added, taking a sip from his milk carton. soobin shrugged, turning his head to the side, watching you smiling with your friends as you take bites from your lunch.
ᶻ 𝗓 𐰁
a few weeks has passed, soobin had finally realised his growing feelings for you, after multiple scoldings from beomgyu, he finally got it through his thick skull that he does indeed like you.
"i'm home! come on, let's go to my room, i really need help with my math homework." you took soobin's wrist, about to pull him into your room until your mum stopped you two.
"welcome back, wait here for a while, i have some treats for you." your mum smiled, scurrying off to the kitchen to grab some pasteries she bought from the newly opened bakery from down the street. soobin shyly thanked your mum, taking a bite out of the brownie placed infront of him, while you basically devour the cookies.
"you know.. recently my friend's daughter lied about her report card, saying that she was scared that she wouldn't see her as a golden child anymore," your mum sighed, looking down at her hands, you looked at her, taking another bite of your cookie, "you two aren't hiding any secrets from me, are you?"
you swallowed the cookie, the feeling of guilt crashes onto you, taking frantic glances at soobin who looked calm and collected, unlike you who was panicking. "no." you uttered out softly, taking a sip of cola. your mum smiled at you, leaving you and soobin alone for now.
"we're screwed aren't we?" soobin snickered, biting on the soft, chewy brownie on the plate.
"we are, i feel extremely bad. should we stop?" you asked him, using your straw to stir the contents of your drink aimlessly.
"if you want to, i'm fine with it." he replied non-chalantly. your hand came to a halt, staring at the twirling ice cubes in your drink.
"or should we start dating for real?" soobin was now stunned, turning to face you, eyes widened, his ears coloured in a red hue.
"what'd you say?"
"i mean it's better this way isn't it? we don't have to lie to our parents anymore!" you exclaimed, completely unaware of the fidgety boy beside you, biting the inside of his cheek.
"that's the reason?" his tone sounded angry and serious, something you weren't used to, you looked at soobin who had his head down, "huh wait, i didn't mean to make you angry soob.."
"please don't make jokes like that." soobin stood up, swinging his bag over one of his shoulders, about to make a move, your first instinct was to grab his wrist, preventing him from leaving you alone.
"wait thats not what i was trying to do, i thought it wouldnt be that much of a differece with us being friends." you explained yourself, speak of the devil your mum decided to walk in, your eyes flickered from your mum to soobin, he mumbled something inaudible for you to hear, "what did you say?"
soobin let out a sigh, bending down to your ear, "i said i'll think about it over the weekend, you should do the same.. about us dating." he whispered, you could feel his lips brushing against your skin, you face slowly heating up at the realisation of how close you were. your eyes followed his every action, from thanking your mum, to leaving the house through the main door. you brain was about to malfunction, causing you to bang your head against the table, clearly flustered from everything that has just occurred.
"jeez what's your problem." your mum jumped at the sudden thud, pushing you a plate of home-cooked food for you to enjoy.
ᶻ 𝗓 𐰁
a few days has passed, despite talking to soobin like you always do, you can't help but feel like there's an invisible barrier between the both of you. he seemed out of it, replying you with single word replies, or even just humming a response. you were used to it, but you can't help but think that he was uncomfortable around your presence.
you sat at your desk, resting your head on the table, surrounded by two of your close friends, tuning out their voices while they ramble about something that didn't concern you.
"honestly, if it seems natural for you to hold hands with a guy friend, or even imagining yourself kissing him, you definitely have slight feelings for him." that statement piqued your interest, lifting your head, only to make eye contact with choi soobin, sending your mind into a spiral. you do interlock arms with him, but does that even count as holding hands? your eyes dart down to his lips, your face warmed up at the thought of his lips touching yours, making your groan in frustration.
"what's up with you." your friend questioned, concerned for your sudden outburst. you shook your head, looking back down at your phone.
soob : meet me after school, in the storage room.
yn : what for?
soob : just come find me.
you couldn't ignore the warmth pooling in your chest when you read that message, for the first time in your life, you were afraid to meet soobin.
the school day went by too fast for your liking, you packed up your things, you made your way to the storage room, only to be stopped by a friend of yours from another class.
"yn! are you going home right now? let's go to the convenience store nearby, i missed you." she exclaimed, hope shimmering in her eyes as she waited for your response. you smiled at her apologetically, about to tell her that you weren't available,
"she's not free right now julie, let's go." a familiar voice replied in your stead, his warm hands wrapped around your wrist, dragging you towards the place you were supposed to meet in. julie looked back at the both of you in confusion, "they're weird." she whispered to herself.
soobin closed the door behind him, locking it in the process. you felt uncomfortable, the atmosphere created was awkward and tense, soobin looked down at you, waiting for you to at least say something.
"uhm, did you think about it? about us dating." you asked, your eyes glued to the ground below you.
"yea." you stared at him with wide eyes, you didn't expect him to actually agree with you that fast.
"you didn't think about it right?" you pursed your lips, unable to make eye contact with the much taller male standing infront of you, soobin sighed, "i can't go out with you."
your heart dropped upon hearing those words, "wait no, i just need more time to think about it." you were rambling, your grip around his arm loosening, realising that you couldn't stop anything.
"sorry yn." he apologised, leaving you in the empty storage room, alone with your thoughts. you groaned in frustration, swinging the door open, accidentally scaring people that were walking past, you just wanted to go home, lay in your bed, and drown yourself in homework, distract yourself from dwelling over soobin. you stood at the entrance, realising that it had started to rain, you rummaged through your bag, in search for an umbrella.
"did i forget.." you whispered to yourself, placing your bag onto the ground to thoroughly check your bag, slowly you gave up, zipping up your bag. you leaned against a pillar, watching the rain hit the ground below. you stared up into the dark, gloomy sky, remembering what had just went down earlier. honestly, you weren't serious when you asked soobin that question, you didn't expect him to say yes right away too. however, you were upset that he rejected you so firmly. you knew that soobin was never that firm with you, the soobin you knew was kinder than that. so maybe, he's under the pouring rain right now and worrying about you, maybe he'll come pick you up, because he has always helped you in situations like these.
"yn!" a voice you knew all too well called out to you, you looked up to see a panting soobin, an umbrella over his head, sheltering himself from the heavy rain.
"how many times must i tell you to pack an umbrella." he reprimanded you, eyebrows furrowed as he looked down at you, a concerned look spread across his face.
"you really came." you smiled to yourself, "it's cause it's raining." soobin replied, pulling you to walk in the rain with me.
"you should call your mum, your place is far from here, and it's raining really hard." he suggested, you nodded your head, grabbing your phone from your pocket, dialling your mum's phone number. soobin remained quiet then entire walk back to his place, his arm wrapped around your shoulder, preventing you from getting wet, matching the pace your walked at. maybe he does treat you differently.
"i'm a soobin's place right now, i'll wait for the rain to slow down before i go back home." you informed your mum.
"that's fine! just tell me when you reach home." your mum answered, "yea what did you say?" your mum's voice added, oh your mum forgot to hang up.
"aren't you worried that she's alone with a guy now?" her colleague asked, sounding worried for your safety. you continued to listen in on their conversation, curious on what your mum has to say about your relationship with soobin.
"those two aren't like that! i just tease them sometimes, but i know better than anyone that they're matured kids and wouldn't fool around." your mum defended you, your eyes flickered to soobin who was unlocking the door to his house, right, it was just the two of you in the house now. you quickly ended the call, removing your shoes.
"you can go into my room, i'll get you something to snack on." you muttered a soft okay, taking swift steps into his room, you sat on the cold wooden floor, grabbing your folder from your bag, starting on your revision for an upcoming quiz.
"soobin, i need help with this." you tapped your pen against the question you were stuck on, he closed the door, setting the plate of jellies down on the table, sitting next to you, reading the question. it was quiet, too quiet, you could hear your own breathing, it felt weird, your mind went back to the conversation your mum had with her colleague.
"soobin, wanna know what my mum said earlier?" you flashed a mischievious grin at him, soobin placed his pencil down, "what did she say?"
"she said even if you and i are alone, nothing will happen!" you laughed, "she thinks we're dating. i wonder how could she say that.. that's how much of a gentleman my mum thinks you are! haha. by the way can i borrow some of your clothes?" you joked further. soobin looked at you unamused, agreeing to your last question, going into his closet to grab some of his clothes.
"what's with that face? i only said that for the laughs. what she said wasn't wrong." you pouted, taking his clothes from him, "you said that you had no intention of dating me anyways."
"you didn't even think about dating me." soobin responded, poking your cheek with his finger.
"i'm done with the question, you should try analysing the question first before jumping into it." you hated this, he still helps you with school, and is always so concerned about you, yet why did he reject you? soobin patted your shoulder, asking you to complete the paper.
"why.. don't you wanna go out with me?" your sudden question left soobin stunned.
"that's random.."
"you're fine with everything but you're not fine with that?.." you suddenly remembered the statement your friend had said earlier in the day, "it's not as if i asked if you could kiss me."
"what?" soobin's cheeks flushed, his thoughts going wild, "see you're playing a prank on me again." you grabbed onto his arm, feeling his stiffen under your grip.
"why aren't you answering me?" you were desperate for an answer, you needed an answer, to understand why he does all he does for you, but still decide to close your out and reject you.
"don't tell me you could see yourself kissing me." you looked at soobin in his eyes, he frowned, a nervous bead of sweat trickling down his face, you were too close to him, he felt like he was going to explode.
"why are you doing this to me?"
"you can't?"
"that's enough now." he turned away, only to feel your lips against his cheek.
"i guess, i can haha.." you joked, covering your mouth, averting your eyes from him, "i guess i'm ok with kissing you." soobin was at a daze, his eyes looking at your lips now, lips slightly apart, whatever you said earlier was completely ignored by him.
"oh, just now that was..??" he lundged forward, capturing your lips, your eyes widened at the sudden contact, unable to process what was going on. soobin pulled away slowly, his eyes meeting yours, both of you were flustered, red colouring the tip of soobin's ears.
"sorry.." he apologised.
"i.. i should go now." you mumbled, immediately packing your things, scrambling out of his room, you texted your mum, telling her that you were going home, you took one last look at soobin.
he's totally red. you thought to yourself, covering your own lips, you couldn't believe that it happened in a span of an hour. you ran home under the rain, you didn't care if you were drenched or not, you wanted to escape from his place as soon as possible. that night, you tossed and turned in bed, unable to get any rest.
ᶻ 𝗓 𐰁
"are you ok?" chaewon asked, of course you weren't, soobin was infront of you, you couldn't let him see you. you swung your bag infront of you, placing the notebook chaewon passed you in it.
"thanks, you returned it sooner than i expected." you smiled, carrying your bag around your shoulder again.
" i got someone to explain it to me instead, cause i didn't understand most of them." she explained, at this point, you were about to walk beside soobin and his friends.
"woah! really? i guess it's a friend who is really good at maths. come on let's go in." you pushed chaewon, practically making her walk faster.
"you're avoiding him aren't you?" chaewon turned back to look at you. you nodded your head, "i'll tell you in class, just go." you begged, she shrugged her shoulders, excited for the long story you were going to rant about as soon as you were not in the vicinity of choi soobin.
ᶻ 𝗓 𐰁
"here are the worksheets you asked for mrs lee." you went to find her in the staff room after classes
"thank you for bringing it here, here eat these." she smiled, taking two packets of biscuits for you. much to your dismay, you heard the door behind you slide open, "oh soobin! come here i'll give you some biscuits too." mrs lee dug through her desk in search for extra biscuits.
"i ran out, yn, share one of these with soobin." your teacher sighed, your voice was soft, almost inaudible, "yes.." your hand reached out to soobin's placing the pack of biscuits in his hand, your fingers grazing against his.
"aren't you two close? i thought you were but you look so awkward with each other right now!" a teacher from behind exclaimed, her statement made you flinch.
"of course they're close, yn nearly fell off the ladder while cleaning the window, do you know how much soobin lectured mr because of that? ever since then i've never asked students to wipe windows that are up high. i thought soobin had feelings for yn." mrs lee giggled, recalling the incident where you almost lost your footing on the steps, trying to remove the speck of dirt on the window.
"oh my goodness, if you say that the kids are gonna feel more awkward." the teacher joked. you turned to your side, noticing the way soobin's ear was coloured in a soft hue of red. if he's slightly embarrased, then you aren't the only one that's feeling self conscious, right?
"i'm just teasing them because they're such good kids! yn and soobin are so proper and well-behaved. they've never caused any trouble too." proper. well-behaved. your head turned to soobin, making eye contact with him.
"i should go clean up before it's too late." soobin made up an excuse, trying to get himself out of the tense atmosphere, as you were about to follow behind soobin, you teacher asked, "i'm asking this out of curiousity, so.. are you two actually dating?"
"huh? it's nothing like that." your words were blunt, immediately turning on your heel to chase after soobin, knowing exactly where he would go to in situations like these. you knocked against the storage room door.
"you're in there right?" your voice was soft and sweet, soobin felt like he would melt right now, the apples of his cheek turning red, "why are you avoiding me too?"
"you were the one who kissed me." you whispered, loud enough for his to hear, soobin rubbed his lips with the back of his hand, unable to shake off the feeling of your lips against his, the taste of your cherry lip balm on the tip of his tongue.
"you know, i'm fine with it right?" that was when the door flung open, revealing soobin looking distraught.
"don't talk about that here." his tone was sheepish, the grip around your wrist tightened, watching you smile at him.
"haha! you were pretending to be fine, but you're actually flustered." you teased, soobin frowned at you, knowing what you'd say next, "i know i kissed you first, but you were the one who kissed me on the mouth–"
"not here." he whispered, his hand cupped around your mouth, preventing you from saying anything more. you removed his hand, looking at him sincerely.
"no one is here to clean yet, you know we have to talk." you uttered, your eyes never leaving his, hope glimmering in your eyes, wanting to have a conversation with him about last night.
"ok, but first, come here." before you knew it, you were dragged into the storage room with soobin again, his hand holding onto yours so carefully like you were glass, while his free hand was placed on your waist, preventing you from failing over. you regained your balance, eyeing down the now unfazed soobin. wasn't he flustered just seconds ago?
you sat on top of a barrel that was somehow in the storage room, pulling soobin along with you, he bent down slightly to ensure that he was eye to eye with you, his hands pinned beside your thighs. his eyes burned into yours, his body language asking you to tell him something.
"in the past, i liked that i felt comfortable around you." you gulped, "but now i'm becoming weird because of you." you brought a finger up to his forehead, poking it.
"i guess i forgot how i used to treat you because we've been pretending to date each other for a while, or maybe it's because you're so nice to me." oh, he was red again, he was wrapped around your finger, you knew his feelings for you, he was too obvious. your heart fluttered, you could smell the scent of his shampoo, and the scent of rain from the leaves that hasn't dried up yet, making you recall the kiss once more.
"this is your fault." you glared, the palm of your hand flushed against his chest.
"what do you mean?" he questioned, squinting his eyes at you. just say you like me you wanted to hear him say it, you wanted to hear him admit it.
"why'd you kiss me yesterday?" you inched your face closer to his, the strong, yet simple scent of his cologne filled your nostrils, his hot breath fanned against your lips, his black rimmed glasses sitting on the top of his nose making him more attractive than usual.
"i.. don't know." those were the words that came out of soobin's lips, as much as you anticipated it, he wasn't someone who would just admit his feelings, you felt disappointed. you two stared at each other in silence, you bit the inside of your cheek.
"soobin, i think we should stop lying to each other, i'll go on and tell you the truth, i lied about the reason why we should date each other. i know i said that if we dated for real, we wouldn't have to lie to my mum, but i realised that i can't control how i feel about someone." you paused, taking in the look soobin was giving you, you smiled to yourself, "i really don't know when i started to feel this way, but before i knew it, i had feelings for you."
your arms wrapped around soobin's neck, playing with the back of his hair, the tip of his ears turning red by the second, "i like you soobin."
"you like me too right? it's your turn to tell me the truth." again, your teasing grin slowly grew on your lips, soobin scowled at you, leaning closer to your lips, leaving a chaste kiss against them, "yeah, i like you too." your grin grew larger when you finally heard those words come out of his mouth
"when did you start having feelings for me." your hands pressed against his cheeks, soobin dropped into the crook of your neck, "i don't know, a long time now.."
you giggled at his response, patting his head, "that's nice to hear."
now that summer fades into autumn, the relationship between you and soobin blooming like the changing leaves, as he stares at you with overflowing love, he's reminded of the time when he fell for you. during autumn, where the season changes from summer to making him fall deeply for you, and history repeats itself, this time with sweet kisses and warm hugs.

── ☆ streams and kids
Tumblr media
☆ Lando Norris is a formula one driver, game streamer, CEO and very charismatic, but now he is also a stepfather and boyfriend, and people are still getting used to these two new titles. Even he is.
warnings: mom!reader words count: 2k
Narrator's POV
Lando's stream was going very well today, he had been playing and chatting on the Twitch platform for approximately an hour, he had left his girlfriend, Amanda, sleeping in his bed, and he was without his headphones so that he could hear in case Lella woke up on the baby monitor , which he brought with him to the games room.
At the moment, he was tired of playing so he was just relaxing in his chair looking at the chat and answering questions. It was the first time he was streaming since Amanda and Lella moved into his house, so there were a lot of people on live.
── How is your summer vacation? ─ he reads ─ Very good! We are planning to travel next week, that's why I'm doing live today so early, we'll sort out some details later and during the week I won't have time for that. Amanda is excited.
Lando was always smiling, but his smile grew when he talked about his girlfriend.
After a few minutes responding to comments, Lando hears a grumble coming from the baby monitor and immediately becomes alert.
── I'll be right back! ─ he announces, looking at the camera and changing his microphone.
As soon as he arrives in the hallway, he hears a noise coming from the baby monitor and realizes it is something like crying, making him run to Lella's room.
── Good morning, little one!
The girl is scared when Lando enters, she thought it was her mother knocking on the door. She curls up in shame under the blankets, she didn't want Lando to see her cry.
── Hey, don't hide from me, sweetheart. Tell me what happened, why are you crying? ─ he says calmly, approaching the youngest girl's bed and kneeling on the floor towards her.
Lella withdraws a little more and then finally looks at Lando, he notices her eyes are still full of water and offers her a hug, who soon leaves her blankets and runs to receive the older man's arms.
Lando created a great bond with his stepdaughter, especially because he knew Amanda since before she was pregnant, helped the girl with the name and had sporadical contact with her and the child before the two got into a relationship.
The driver met Amanda in the paddock, the photographer was working at the Interlagos GP and Lando fell in love with her. Unfortunately, she told him that she was dating, however Lando wanted to give a new friendship a chance. The following year, they met again, this time at the first race of the year, she told him that she had been hired by Aston Martin and now she would see him every day, she also told him that she had separated because her boyfriend did not want to maintain a relationship at distance. He thought her boyfriend was an asshole, she laughed at his displeasure.
A month and a half later, she discovered she was pregnant, Lando caught her crying in the paddock bathroom and calmed her down, telling her everything would be fine. He was also there when the girl told her boss about the pregnancy and asked permission to travel briefly to Brazil and break the news to the child's father, who was given away. Lando was also around when Amanda told her ex about the pregnancy and saw the boy get angry and raise his voice at her. He took her out of there and consoled her, they became best friends ever since.
He didn't accompany her during the appointments because Amanda's younger sister insisted on doing so, but she always sent her messages asking about the baby and her. Amanda liked him. She had to take a leave of absence at 7 months in because she couldn't travel by plane so she ended up losing contact with him, she knew the boy's life was busy so she didn't worry when he didn't send her a message.
She decided to name her daughter Lella, in honor of the only woman to score points in formula 1, Lella Lombardi, it was Lando's idea and he was very happy when he met the baby and Amanda told him about the name, she would never forget it his smile upon learning this information.
When Lella turned 6 months old she went back to work, the baby traveled with her and her younger sister took care of her, Amanda got closer to Lando again. When Lella turned 2 he finally got the courage and asked her out, they started dating the following month, and now, after a year of relationship, they live together. Some said it was hasty, Lando and Amanda say it was at the right time. They had known and liked each other for years, it was time to take a risky step.
── Piccolina¹, don’t cry, Uncle Lando hates seeing you like this. Tell me what happened and then I can help you ─ Lando asks, desperate. He felt distressed seeing the girl cry.
── I had a really bad dream that you abandoned me and my mom at the mall ─ the 3-year-old girl says, holding back tears. Lando moves away from the grip of the little girl's arms to look into her eyes.
── That’s impossible to happen, Lella. Do you know why? ─ the girl denies it, rubbing her eyes and wiping her tears with a pout that was very cute. ─ Because I love you and your mother very much. I will never abandon either of them! It was just a nightmare, okay? ── the girl nods and smiles, giving him another hug.
Lando smiles and picks her up by surprise, making the girl let out a delightful childish laugh as he throws her in the air and holds her again.
── Are you hungry? ─ the girl denies it and hides her face in his neck. ─ I'm doing live and playing now, do you want to stay with me in the games room? ─ she nods, without letting go.
Lando noticed that she was a little more in need of his attention so he didn't want to let her go at any point. In fact, he loved knowing that at that moment he was being a safe haven for the little girl he loved so much and cared for with so much affection and respect.
Before even unmuting the microphone, Lando saw the chat explode with comments. People freaking out over the cuteness all over the world made him smile.
── Hi guys, I'm back! This young lady here woke up and I went to check, right Lella? ── the little girl just nods her head and hides from the camera in shame.
── Alright, let's continue with the questions, you can send them! ─ the little girl adjusts herself on her stepfather's lap and starts playing with his hair, loving to play with the older man's curls. ─ Lots of questions about Lella and Amanda, I don’t think they love me anymore! See this, Piccolina? People love you more than me! ─ he says with an indignant tone, making the girl let out a laugh that makes him smile widely.
His smile was big when it came to Amanda, but it was huge when it came to Lella.
── They're telling me to play again, how about we play together Lella? Let's show them how good you are at fire and water!
And then they played together for thirty minutes, until Amanda came to call them both to eat. He turned off the live stream and left with Lella on his back, the little girl laughing.
── Good morning loves of my life, I see you are excited today! ─ Amanda says smiling, earning a kiss from Lando and an "eeewww" from Lella, which made her laugh along with her boyfriend.
── We are very excited because we are on vacation! ─ Lando says and Lella agrees, already sitting in her chair, Lando placed her there and picked up the plate with berries that were her breakfast.
── And what did you do today?
── Mommy, I had a really bad dream and Daddy helped me, then we went to the games room and he talked to the people and then we played the fire game and then we laughed a lot because Daddy is really bad ... ─ she continued chattering while eating.
──Lando? ─ Amanda looks tensely at the boy, who looks at Lella with watery eyes.
── Dad... Baby, tell me I heard it right. Did she call me Daddy? ─ Lando looks hopefully at his girlfriend, who agrees with her eyes full of tears. ─ I'm her daddy! I am! ─ He gives her a tight hug and starts crying, taking her with him.
── Daddy! Mommy! Why are you crying? ─ the girl looks at them confused.
── I'm your daddy! ─ Lando says and picks her up, the child doesn't understand anything but hugs him around the neck.
── Dad... you didn't like it? I thought..
── I loved it! I'm your daddy now! I love you Lella!
── I love you too, daddy ─ she gives him a kiss on the cheek and wipes away the older man's tears.
(...)
── How was the trip? It was great! We went to Italy with my brother, my sister-in-law and my niece. Lella and Milla played a lot together, we went to the beach, to the tourist attractions, Savannah and Amanda ventured into the stores, it was incredible!
Lando was once again doing live, this time in the afternoon, as soon as he finished lunch he told his now fiancée that he was going to chat a little on twitch and that if needed he would be in the games room.
── What are your expectations for returning from vacation? High, but I have to keep my feet on the ground, Mclaren made some improvements to the car so next week I will finally see how the car is, I hope that with this we will return to the top of the points table.
── Daddy! Daddy! Look at my outfit! ─ Lella appears running.
── Be careful not to fall. You look beautiful, Piccolina! Did your mother make this bun? It's beautiful, just like you. ─ he says, turning to her and keeping his back to the camera, he had even forgotten about it at that moment.
── Mom made the bun so I could dance ballet! Today is the first day, can you take me with mom?
Amanda, who was at the door watching the interaction with a big smile, interrupts Lando's response.
── Baby, dad is streaming, he can’t come with us...
── Of course I can! Give me five minutes to change my clothes and say goodbye to the guys, okay? Daddy will take you on the first day! ─ he kisses the girl on the cheek, who smiles big and leaves the room.
─ You don't need to.
── But I want to. I'm her father now!
── You'll do anything if she calls you daddy first, right? ─ Amanda says laughing.
── Everything she asks and wants. I'm surrendered by that mini woman, Amanda, forgive me. ─ he says and Amanda laughs, leaves a kiss on his lips and leaves the room so that the groom can turn off the live stream.
When Lando returns to the computer, he realizes that he didn't turn off the microphone so the entire chat is exploding with love for the scene they witnessed. Flushed, Lando says:
── I don't need to explain, apparently I forgot to turn off the microphone. Well, I have to go, Lella needs a chauffeur. Bye guys, I love you! 'Till the next!
Lando took Lella to the classroom, watched her from afar with pride in his eyes and smiled even more when he told her he was taking her to the ice cream shop, Amanda watched the two with love overflowing in her eyes and smile. She had everything she needed right there in front of her.
¹"Piccolina" means "little one" in Italian.

Could you do one where you're having an argument and flash him your tits. All or lando please and thank you 🥰
Tumblr media
pairing: lando norris x femalereader
summary: you get into a mini argument with your boyfriend because of his demanding job. so you figure out a way to calm him down.
warnings: angst, sexual themes, nakedness
(a/n) this is truly... I can't even describe the feeling I got when I first read it. Thank you for suggesting it <3
Tumblr media
YOU FELT LIKE you had barely seen Lando the previous day for a couple of minutes before he collapsed into the couch, tired from racing and practicing all week.
Indeed, you loved him too much to complain about the constant distance between the two of you, but this had to stop at some point.
It was like you weren't in a relationship at all.
People at work asked you, "How's Lando doing?" and you just stated he was fine, even though you had talked to him for no more than five minutes that day.
He was too important to you.
So, as you heard the door of your house open, you rushed to greet your boyfriend. "Hey, babe," Smiling, you hugged him tightly and after a few seconds, he wrapped his hands around you as well. "I missed you."
"Ugh..." Lando growled and you took a step back to analyze his facial expression.
"What is it, babe?"
"This headache has been killing me since this morning." He rubbed his forehead as if his flesh could erase the pain there. "I should probably take a long, very long nap."
He got rid of his jacket and backpack, heading to the bedroom after washing his hands and teeth.
You sighed to yourself.
You had to discuss the problem with him in order to fix it. Right now. Your relationship was too worth it not to talk about your personal issues and troubles with each other.
"Umm... Lando?" You entered the enormous bedroom, looking at your boyfriend sat on the mattress, scrolling through his phone.
He immediately dumped his phone on the nightstand, unlocked. A few moments later, the screen of the device blackened. "Yes, love?" He tapped his lap, signaling that he wanted you to sit there.
Approaching, you did as he asked. "I want to talk about something that's been stressing me for a little while, okay?"
"Of course. Tell me what is it and we'll fix it together."
He was so sweat...
If only he didn't have to work all day...
"I feel like we barely spend time with each other lately. And I don't like this feeling at all." You admitted and he looked at you patiently.
"I know," Lando sighed. "I'm so occupied with work and when I get home I'm so exhausted I can hardly eat a meal to keep myself robust."
You were about to cry. Your sensed the burning in your eyes, craving to be released but you tried to hold it back. You didn't want him to see how this whole thing affected you because... it was his job. He loved it just as much as he loved you. There wasn't a single chance you'd forced him choose between you and racing.
"...but you know there's nothing I can do about it. F1 requires constant traveling and practicing. We talked about this before we moved in together."
"Lando, I know, but..." You arised, trying to find the best words to describe your emotional condition at the moment.
"(y/n)!" Lando stood up as well, trying to calm you down. It clearly didn't work. "There's nothing to discuss about. We'll just wait a few months until the summer break and everything will be fine!"
You didn't speak. There was nothing left to say.
He was right. You know he was. You'd been in a relationship for almost three years. This wasn't the first time you and him experienced obstacles like this. You just found ways to overcome them united.
"I've talked to you about how I feel about this." Lando went on. "Even though I adore my job, there's nothing I wouldn't do to make you happy, but honestly--I--I mean..."
"Lando!" You tried to make him stop talking because you already knew he was right. But he wouldn't listen.
So you figured out a way to force him to stop.
"No, (y/n). All I wanted was to--"
Lando's eyes went wide, his eyebrows raised and his jaw kind of... dropped open.
"(y/n)..." He tried to voice his thoughts but it came out weak, his tone unsteady. Your boyfriend, in a failed attempt to cease contact with your naked chest, rubbed his eyes roughly. "Heavens above, I--"
You laughed and collided your lips with his.
His face was so warm and reddened. You loved it.
"This was the only way that could make you shut up." You said between the kiss as his one hand cupped your breast and the other one traveled to your lower back.
"You could just kiss me." He titled his head, aparting your faces just a few inches so he could look directly into your eyes. "Nevermind," He grabbed you, picking you up and placing you on the soft mattress of your bed. "Your boobs reminded me that it's time to cherish them, just like I should be doing every single day for the rest of my life."

First day of camp - Hello Neighbor fic (prompt challenge#1)
Summary: The day Maritza and Finch became friends.
[AO3 link]
It was the second week of summer holidays, and Maritza was so desperate for it to be over. She usually wasn't like, in normal circumstances the girl would love summer with all the fun she could have with her friends without the chuckles of a school schedule. But these were no ordinary circumstances, she had lost Lucy last year and what Mr. Peterson told her after left a mark, so deep that she couldn't face Mya, right now. Especially after the conversation she had with Enzo about it… She didn't blame him though, Maritza actually agreed with what he said, she was left in shock because of Peterson's words, like if a fresh wound just reopened, it had left the girl in shambles and she couldn't manage to get out of her room for a few weeks, crying with a new rage, the idea that maybe Lucy’s death wasn't completely an accident.
“Come on, we'll meet for lunch later, you know?” Enzo reassured his sister as he prepared to run off to his summer camp friends.
He had gone to this place before, it was fair that Maritza had to be there without knowing anyone, really. ‘It’ll be good, you're going to make friends!’ her dad had told her after she attempted to protest against it, back home.
“Fine… I'm going to my cabinet then.” Maritza holds her backpack and makes sure to show Enzo how much she didn't want to be here, by her annoyed face and tone of speech “See ya, I guess!” She turns her back to him and starts walking, she could hear him sigh at her but it wasn't even minutes before he ran off to say hi to his summer buddies. “Good coping mechanism, un corno…” she muttered to herself, while kicking a rock and repeating her father's words.
Soon enough she got to the cabin, it was wooden and something straight out of a stereotypical teenage movie. But as she approached the door, she listened carefully to what was happening inside: screaming followed by laughter.
“You good for nothing! Better fail the kayak race on purpose this year or soon enough, everyone will know you were the one breaking the animal pen, resulting in the camp mascot going missing!” one of the girls that was laughing said.
“But that wasn't me!” a different voice replied.
“Exactly!”
Maritza heard steps approaching the door and quickly got away from it and leaned against the cabin’s poach, acting nonchalant. The laughing and giggling squad of girls got out of the door “Poor thing will share a room with Miss Little Perfect!” They commented as they saw Maritza “Don't let her talk to you, she's a complete freak!” Maritza didn't reply and just got inside, feeling disgusted at their tone.
On the lower bunk bed there was a face she recognized, that was one of her classmates from school, the one that always got in the merit board, wearing the usual scout uniform but now completely soaked in water.
“Those girls did that to you?” Maritza instigated, she could hear the sigh of relief in the other girl's voice as she realized Maritza wasn't there to torment her.
“Ya…” she squeezed each of her pony tails to get most of the water out “They want me to fail… they think I don't deserve the high score on everything…” there's was anger behind those words “I might just let them get it, this year…”
“Don't!” Maritza stepped closer to her and sat side by side on the bed “Never lose on purpose for those types of people, okay?” there was fire in Esposito's eyes, she just something she could focus her attention to. Something that was worth fighting for “I'll help you!” The scouts girl looked deep in Maritza's eyes, surprise across her face.
“Really?... Why…?”
“No problem! I'm sure they'll regret messing with you!”
“I'm Maritza, by the way” they exchanged handshakes. “Those girls will get the karma that's waiting for them this year.”
“You can call me Finch!” They smiled at each other “Thanks, for that… You know, the ‘don't do that for them’ part? That means a lot!”

XLIX.
This is a hard post to write.
My running is going well. I feel great.
But weight is up and I don't like it. I am stuck in the mid 190s. My clothes don't quite fit right. Just getting to the mid 180s would make everything fit better.
Then I tell myself forget the scale, I can get new clothes, live your life. Feel good first, worry about the rest later.
But then I remember a few years ago at the doctor when my cholesterol was high and he recommended a statin. I said I'd try to lose weight first. He said fine, lifestyle change is valid, come back in 3 months in we'll do blood work again. That was over 3 years ago and I haven't materially changed my lifestyle.
Really my weight for my height should be mid 160s, but I just getting to and staying in the mid 170s would be a significant lifestyle change.
So I try a bunch of workouts but the only thing that sticks is running. The best exercise routine is the one you will do, I think that's what Naval says.
Then I get better at running and decide to train for a half marathon because that helps me stay consistent. But all this running is not letting me lose weight. I am hungry after speedwork and long runs.
So I am stuck in the paradox where half marathon training motivates me to eat better. But then I get to the point where it doesn't help me lose weight.
The only eating style that's ever helped me lose weight has been low carb. But low carb eating doesn't go with running.
So I get to the point that it's late January, and I'm like screw it, just get through it, race is in early March. After that you can pivot to a weight loss routine, attack weight loss like I attack a half marathon training program, even start a new blog about that. That can cover Mar-Apr-May. By summer I can be the weight I want to be.
Then I'm like, why hold on, why wait? What was my race entry fee, $50 or so? It's a sunk cost, start the weight loss thing now, you can run more races after you're 175.
But then I worry this is cope, you like this, what's a few more weeks, run the race, then pivot.
I need to make a decision.
It's Wednesday morning when I think this.
Wednesday morning was easy pace 3, Thursday is rest. It's not until Friday morning's pace run + Saturday morning's long run where I have to push myself. So I have a couple days to think about it and eat for weight loss because the running burden isn't too high.
But all this thinking leads to eating, too much snacking on Wednesday. Snacked on pretzels and peanut butter after dinner. But then I didn't feel too full, so what does that tell me.
Thursday morning, time to write this all out. Think of Naval's decision making model.
Step one - if you can't decide between yes and no, the answer is no.
But what is the question? Is it, should I quit the half marathon program and focus on weight loss now? Or is it should I focus on weight loss now and quit the half marathon program? I have to move to step two.
Step two - if it's an either/or, pick the option that would give me more short term pain.
If I keep at this half marathon thing, I have to deal with frustration of the scale for another 5-6 weeks. That would annoy me. Is my brain tricking me to make that seem worse than it is? My clothes have fit this way for a while now, what's few more weeks. Accomplish this goal then move on to the next thing in March. I will have a sense of accomplishment, then move onto accomplishing weight loss.
Or is the feel of quitting the short term pain? Getting started on a weight loss program isn't as fun as running, so maybe that's the short term pain.
Hmmm, I'm 60/40 that quitting is the short term pain, so this step leads me to keep going on the half marathon. But let's look at step three.
Step three - if the short term pain is the same, pick the one with more long term calm.
OK, fast forward to Memorial Day. Option 1, run the half marathon. Keep to a successful schedule, run it under 2 hours. Feel happy. Take the weekend, enjoy some carbs and beer. A week later you turn 45. Focus on weight loss, set a goal to lose 20 pounds in 12 weeks by Memorial Day. Maybe you hit that and continue the momentum into the summer, pushing for the 160s. Maybe at my age that amount of weight loss that quickly isn't possible, and you need more of the summer to get there and you hit 175 by 4th of July.
Option 2, start weight loss program now. Tell your wife. Say this is more important. Get the family involved. (I guess I could get the family more involved in Option 1 too, just a month later.) 20 pounds in 12 weeks is mid April, maybe I give myself more time, being honest with my age, Memorial Day is 17 weeks away. Get to 175 by then. Do a running program over the summer and run a half marathon in early fall.
Ugh, I don't know.
I go back to the family thing. I think I need to ask my wife to help me think this through. Maybe based on what she gets more excited about getting on board with me, right now, or think it through in Feb, get on board together in March.
I ask my wife and she says don't quit half marathon program. I don't have anything to replace it with. Figure something out in Feb for March, that's not stalling, that's right around the corner.
I think she's right.

Just to give you some ideas. How about DBF!Bucky taking your vcard after you came back from college that summer in a sundress that showed everything just right.
Summary// Bucky agreed with you not to talk about the New Years kiss, but the dress you show up to his house wearing has his mind racing.
Warnings// Smut, protected sex (holy shit, thats a new one), fingering, kinda a handjob?, cursing
AU// dbf!bucky x f!reader
Note// this was suppose to be a drabble, that flew out if the window pretty quickly 😂 (i was pretty proud of this when I first wrote it a few days ago, but reading it over, I'm not so sure)
18+ ONLY, MINORS DNI
Tumblr media
You were greeted by Bucky's familiar slate blue eyes and charming smile when he opened the door, a surprised look flashing across his face. "Been a while, sugar." He said with a light laugh, looking you over briefly. "Yeah, just got in a few hours ago. Figured I'd come check on you, see what you've been up to the last few months."
"Come in for a beer?" He offered, nodding his head towards the kitchen as he moved to the side for you to walk in. "Of course."
Bucky tried to keep his eyes on your face, the neckline of the sundress you wore showing just the right amount of the tops of your breasts to have his mind wandering. The hem flowing against mid thigh as you walked to his fridge.
"Cute dress." He commented. Admiring how the fabric fit your waist and hips. "Thanks- is beer all you have in this fridge." You laughed when you saw nothing but a carton of eggs and six pack of beer in the back.
Bucky swallowed thickly when you bent down to reach for the beer. The bottom of your dress lifting enough to show the lack of underwear underneath. "Uh, I need to go to the store. You excited about your last year at college?" He said, clearing his throat.
"Just glad it's finally going to be done- You alright, Buck?" You asked when you saw the nervous look on his face as his jaw clenched. Knuckles on his right hand white from how hard he gripped the marble countertop he was leaned back against. "Nope." He said quickly, pressing his lips into a thin line.
You stepped closer, holding one of the beers out to him. The same sweet smile you had given him months before on New Years gracing your face. "You can tell me anything, y'know?"
Bucky breathed a dry laugh and shook his head. "I don't think you'll wanna hear what I was thinking. Especially after the agreement we made back in January."
He thought about that night countless times. How freezing it was outside when you walked down the street to where he was in his backyard next to his firepit. Half a bottle of whiskey already gone as you pulled a chair next to his and joined him. Neither of you wanting to be alone on what was suppose to be a fun night.
The sweetest smile he'd ever seen pulling at your lips when you'd asked: 'Be my New Years kiss and we'll never talk about it again.'
Bucky had savored the way your lips tasted when the clock struck midnight, the soft moan that he swallowed when your fingers laced in his hair to pull him closer.
But, he agreed not to talk about it again after that.
"You'd be surprised." You chimed, pulling him back to that moment as you lifted yourself to sit on the countertop. His eyebrows twitched upwards as he sucked in a sharp breath, looking down at the expensive hardwood floor.
"I was... I saw- something I'll be fucking my fist to later." He gave a tight lipped smile as he brought the bottle to his lips. "Is this about the kiss?" You said softly, tracing the bumps on the bottom of the bottle in your hands, watching the tiny bubbles in the liquid pop. "We agreed not to talk about it."
You shrugged and let out a heavy sigh. "I kinda want to..." you mumbled, looking at him through your lashes. "I just-" Bucky wet his lips and sat his beer down to rub a hand down his face as you chewed your bottom lip. "Oh, God. Don't do that, it just makes me want you more." He chuckled, shifting his weight from one foot to the other. Deciding to take the few steps across the kitchen so he was standing directly in front of you.
Sitting your beer down, you lifted your hands to rest on the sides of his neck. Toying with the chain of his dog tags that were hidden under his tight grey t-shirt. "Tell me what you want, Buck."
Bucky's hands went flat against the counter on either side of your hips as he leaned so his face was level with yours. "Really wanna know, sweetheart?"
You gave an eager nod and sucked your bottom lip between your teeth. His steel blues dancing back and forth as he thought for a moment. "I think you know what I wanr." He said bluntly.
Without a second thought you pulled his face closer, locking your lips to his in a starved kiss as his sturdy body slotted between your thighs. Cold and warm hands following the dip of your waist and curve of your hips. Stopping at the hem of your dress to slip under the thin fabric.
Your fingers moved down to tug at the leather of his belt, popping the button of his jeans open and pulling the zipper down before slipping your hand into the front of his jeans to palm the hardened bulge in his briefs.
"Mm, feels good, baby." Bucky hummed, lips leaving yours to graze his teeth along the skin of your shoulder. You chewed your bottom lip, a nervous feeling churning in your gut when you thought over what you were going to say next. "This is probably a deal breaker for you, because I know you've probably been with a lot of experienced women, but-"
You paused for a moment, swallowing hard as his lips sucked a mark to the dip of your neck. "What is it, sugar?" He murmured against your skin, gently massaging the tops of your thighs. "I've never had sex..."
Bucky's released the skin from his mouth with a light pop, lifting his head to look at you again. Eyebrows furrowed together. "Okay, um- okay." He nodded, thumbs brushing the skin of your thighs. "You sure this is what you want? Me being the first one you..." He trailed off, watching your eyebrows crease together. "Very sure."
A light smile curled the corners of his plump lips as he pulled you closer to the edge, lifting your legs to his waist. "Need to take this to a more appropriate place then. Huh, sweet girl?" He purred, swiftly lifting you from the countertop as his lips claimed your again.
You moaned softly against his lips as he made his way down the hallway, kicking his bedroom door shut before your back met his plush mattress.
Clothes came off in a haste, Bucky letting his eyes linger over every dip and curve of your figure as he kneeled on the bed. Your lips bitten and chest heaving as he bent his body back over yours.
No matter how many times you'd seen Bucky's bare torso over the few years he'd been friends with you dad, it never ceased to amaze you just how breathtaking he was. Smooth, tanned skin mashed with metal, muscles flexing with every movement. Just the sight of him could have you weak in the knees.
"We'll go slow," he said pulling away slightly. "Just need you, Buck." You exhaled, his warm hand slipping down to between your thighs. "Gotta warm you up first." He smirked, working a finger into your cunt as his lips slotted over yours again to swallow the breathy moan that passed your lips.
Your hand reached down to trace your fingertips over the throbbing vein that ran along the underside of his cock, feeling it twitch lightly as he groaned into your mouth. Curling his finger up against the spongey spot just inside your walls, eliciting another moan from you.
"S'wet, all mine?" You nodded your head, letting your eyes close as your fingers wrapped around his erection. Pumping it the best you could from the angle. "All yours," you whimpered when he added another long, thick digit. "Now I'm all yours, darlin'." He promised, pressing a kiss to the spot he'd left a mark on your neck not long before.
Angling his hand, Bucky thrusted his fingers into you at a steady pace. The stretch from just his fingers making your head and body feel fuzzy each time his palm knocked against your clit when you'd rock your hips.
"That's it, sugar. Fuck my fingers- cum for me." His gruff voice vibrated against your skin, the pads of his fingers stroking the sweet spot until your thighs started quivering. A string of curses rolling off of your tongue as warmth flooded your veins and you released against his palm.
"Good girl," Bucky purred, removing his fingers to grab a condom from the nighstand. A quiet moan slipping through at those two words, distracting him for what he was doing. "Knew you had a thing for being called a good girl." He teased, pecking a kiss to your lips.
Your legs went around his waist, thick tip prodding at your folds. Slowly working in as Bucky's lips found yours again, having to stop for a moment to ground himself from the instant clench of your walls once he had eased in a little.
"You doing okay?" He asked, breath fanning your lips as he kept his thrusts short and slow. Your arms going under his to glide your hands up his back, feeling the ripple of his muscles as his hips rocked into yours. "Yeah, faster- please," you huffed, pressing the heels of your feet to his tailbone to push him deeper. "Patient, baby. Don't wanna hurt you."
Bucky kept everything gentle, hands delicately feeling your skin as he nuzzled his face to the dip of your shoulder.
The uncomfortable feeling from the stretch fading away to an overwhelming bliss, one of your hands slipping up to tangle in his hair as your nails of the other curled into the skin of his back. Each bump of his pelvis to your clit sending shocks down your legs.
"Oh, fuck-" Bucky grunted when your walls clamped around him, pace picking up a little as he angled his hips to fuck into a rough patch. Your lips nipping his pulse point as the pressure in your core grew stronger, your breathy moans mixing with his soft grunts as they filled the air.
"S'close, Bucky- Fuck-" You whined, toes curling as your mind blanked for a moment. Hot puffs of breaths fanning against your neck as he fucked into you, murmuring filthy praises that added to the tingling pleasure that crashed into you as you released around him.
Absent-mindedly, you bit down on the smooth skin at the base of his neck. A guttural moan pulling from his throat when his hips stuttered, spilling into the condom as your grip on him loosened.
A shudder rolling down his back from the aftershocks when he pushed a little deeper into your spasming walls. Letting out a shaky breath as he moved away from you.
"You alright, sugar? Didn't hurt you did I?" Bucky asked softly, warm hand rubbing up the inside of your thigh. Looking over your blissed out form, your chest heaving and eyes closed. "I'm great," you exhaled, a lazy smile tugging your lips.
You turned to face him when he laid next to you, running your fingers over the dark mark that adorned his skin from your teeth. Only a few inches away from where metal met flesh.
"Sorry..." you muttered, the corners of his kiss bitten lips curving up as he let out a breathy chuckle. "Don't be. You can dig your teeth into me anytime." He teased, pulling you into his side.
Bucky's tongue prodded at the corner of his mouth as he stared up at the plain white ceiling of his bedroom. Goosebumps prickling his skin as you traced the dips of his chest and abdomen.
You craned your neck to look at him when he sucked in a breath. "Does it make me a shitty person that I've thought about this happening since your dad introduced us on your twenty-first birthday?" He said, brushing his metal knuckles against your upper arm. "If you're a shitty person for it, then I guess I am too."
"Sleeping with your best friend's daughter is kinda a dick move." Bucky said with a heavy sigh. "Well, you're a bit younger than him. Plus, he doesn't have to find out." You shrugged, watching the way his baby blues danced back and forth. "He'd run me over and feed me to the hogs."
You laughed lightly and ran the tips of your fingers along his sharp jaw, the stubble that covered it scratchy against the pad of your fingers as you admired him.
Orange tone of the setting sun seeping in through the blinds making him look like he'd been pulled from a magazine cover as you traced over his plump, pink lips. His eyes shutting when he felt the delicate touch graze the length of his nose. Another light smile gracing his face.
"Hm, that feels nice." He exhaled before turning to his side to face you. "What're you thinking about, sugar?" He mumbled, a brisk kiss placed on your lips. "How pretty you are." You grinned, running your fingers through his disheveled hair.
"Pretty, huh?" Bucky chuckled, gliding his hand along the curve of your back as he pressed another kiss to your lips.
You muttered a quiet 'yeah' against his lips before he pulled away, brushing the tip of his nose to yours. "Thank you, darling. Hungry? I can make you some eggs, not promising they're in date, though." He said scrunching his nose at you. "I'll pass on your expired eggs." You laughed, trying to push down the feeling that he regretted what had happened that bubbled in your chest.
"Not been home much since the promotion, took a couple days off when I heard you were coming to visit." He mumbled, the pads of his fingers rough against your skin. "Did you really?" You grinned, the feeling you had moments before almost going away completely. "Couldn't miss the chance to see my favorite girl."

"It's negative.. again" you sighed burying your face in your hands. Charles wrapped his arm around your shoulders and pulled you in close. "Don't be sad mon chèrie" he said kissing the top of your head. "I just feel like we've been trying forever and it's always negative" you said with a tear sliping from your eye. "What if there's something wrong Charles?"
"Y/N don't think like that. It has been less than a year and with being on the road so much it has probably been stressful on your body. Now that it is summer break we shall go and see the doctor, just to make sure everything is normal. Okay?" He said stroking your hair. You nodded into him and hugged him tight. It felt like such a long time ago you were sitting on the bathroom floor crying at the thought you might be pregnant and that Charles wouldn't be ready for this and when you found out that you weren't Charles suggested that you guys could start trying. So much had happened since then, Charles had won his first ever championship, you guys had moved house over the winter break, you had a beautiful intimate wedding with just your close family and friends around you and you had both agreed that you were ready to have a baby and had started trying but with the season restarting and moving backwards and forwards all over the world it was sometimes difficult to get your timings right.
Charles rang the doctors surgery and got you both booked in for a checkup, you got dressed and headed out the house. You arrived at the doctors shortly after and checked in. This was Charles' family doctor, he had been coming here for years, and trusted him whole heartedly. You were both called into see the doctor after a short wait.
"Ah Charles! What can I help you with today?" The doctor said gesturing for you both to sit down.
"Me and my wife are trying for a baby, its been around 7 months now and I know that it's not a long time but she's worried that something might be wrong" Charles said squeezing your hand.
"Congratulations, most couples will conceive within the first year of trying and you guys aren't quite there yet so try not to worry Mrs Leclerc. We can still do some tests today if you would like" you nodded your head.
The doctor performed all sorts of tests on you and Charles, checking for any abnormalities, your heart was racing the entire time. "Now the results will be with us in the next couple of days, try not to worry. We'll be in touch" the doctor reassured you.
----------
3 days later.
"Yes, yes thats fine. Yes I understand. Yes. Thankyou Doctor" Charles said on the phone. You paced waiting for him to get off the phone. He put the phone down and took hold of your hand, you held your breath. "Everything is fine Y/N" Charles said kissing your forehead, "there's nothing wrong, we just need to keep trying" you breathed a sigh of relief.
"Oh thank god" you said kissing Charles.
"We will have a nice relaxed summer break and hopefully we can make a baby." Charles smiled down at you.
You spent the next 3 weeks relaxing in the sun with Charles, you stayed in monaco this summer, sitting on the beach, swimming in the pool and just being together. It was nice to just relax together.
-----------
2 months later.
"Charles!" You called from the bathroom, arms wrapped around the toilet bowl as you threw up the contents of your stomach. "Please can you bring me some water" the past few days you had had the most horrendous stomach bug, your body ached, you were absolutely exhausted and almost everything you ate made you sick. Charles came into the bathroom with a glass of water and sat rubbing your back. "Do you think that maybe-" he started to say.
"I'm not due on until next week Charles"
"I know" he said kissing the top of your head, "I just thought it might be worth taking a test. Just in case"
You peeled yourself off the floor and grabbed an early signs test from the drawer, "get out then" you laughed. You sat on the toilet to pee on the stick. You put it on the side whilst you tried to freshen up. Two minutes had passed and you looked down at the test, trying not to get your hopes up. 2 lines. It's positive. "Charles get in here!" You shouted trying to control your excitement, tears streaming down your face. Charles came into the bathroom and looked you up and down. You pressed the test into his hand. He looked at it intently. "2 lines is postive right?" He breathed.
You nodded your head. "Omg you're pregnant! We're going to have a baby y/n!" He yelled out in excitement, wrapping his arms around your waist and picking you up. He peppered kisses all over you as he hugged you tightly. "I can't believe it! As soon as we are home we will go to the doctors. Only the best for my princess" he put you back to the floor and crouched before you, resting his head against your nonexistent bump. "Daddy loves you so much all ready" he kissed your stomach, making you giggle. He stood up and kissed you passionately. "I can't wait to tell Pierre! He will be excited to be an uncle" Charles giggled.
"No Charles." You said sternly, "not until the first scan, when we know that everything is okay"
"Okay okay" he smiled, "but everything will be okay. I promise you mon chèrie"

Coeur Brisé (SJH)
Tumblr media
Genre: Fluff (only in the beginning), Angst
AU: nonidol!au, highschool!au
Warnings: This is honestly just really sad so like prepare for heartbreak, fem!reader loses feelings (i am so sorry in advance)
Summary: Junghwan and Y/n have always liked each other, so when the time came when they dated, Junghwan thought he could marry her, but Y/n had thought otherwise beacause, love really isn't meant to last.
Notes: In all honesty this was very hard to write since I cannot imagine Junghwan as a boyfriend like ever </3 hes like my baby
-
It was fall of 2020 when they met. Two bright souls at the age of fifteen, just at the start of puberty. Junghwan and Y/n, two teenagers who always adored each other, but were to afraid to admit their feelings for each other. Their friends would always try their luck for them to get together, but to no avail, until one particular day.
Junghwan and his friends were heading to the cafeteria together talking and laughing, all problems free from their minds, but as they passed by Y/n's classroom, Junghwan couldn't help but look at Y/n with her friends. He could see her in the middle of them all, her in her cute summer uniform with her hair tied in a ponytail and bangs draped over her face gently, she was so perfect. He snapped out of his daze and continued walking with his friends, Y/n's smile still replaying in his mind.
"Huh? What do you mean Mr. Woo isn't coming?" Junghwan asked, as he saw Y/n in the school dance practice room alone. "He asked me to meet him here but he hasn't been in an hour, so it's safe to say he really isn't coming" Y/n replied and turned towards him. They were both practical dance majors at SOPA, it only made sense if she knew. "Oh alright thank you for letting me know, see you around Y/n..." before Junghwan could turn to leave, she suddenly interrupted him. "WAIT— Could you come here for a second?" Y/n asked shyly, to which he felt his ears burn, but he nodded and approached her.
"Junghwan, I just wanted to tell you that...I really like you and that I've been too scared to tell you" Y/n then looked away, which left the boy shocked at the sudden confession. "Took you long enough" Junghwan laughed and Y/n looked up at the boy in curiosity. "I've always liked you too Y/n, safe for me to ask you out on a date then" he smiled, which sparked the beginning of their puppy love.
"Junghwan! Good morning!" Y/n greeted the boy as they met up at the train station. "Good morning, it's nice to see you so happy today" he flirted, meanwhile Y/n hit him playfully. "Junghwan you know I hate cheesy things like that" he laughed and before they knew it, the train had already arrived. "Alright sorry, but you look so pretty today, I honestly couldn't help it" Junghwan gave her a sweet smile and Y/n looked away trying to hide hers.
"Well aren't you two just adorable? You both remind me of when my husband and I were still teens back in the day" an old woman said from the seat beside them. "Thank you grandma, that's very sweet" Y/n said sweetly as Junghwan held her hand. "It's really nothing, I hope you both last long" the old woman said as Y/n nodded, turning to the boy and smiling. Junghwan felt his heart race, was he really falling in love all over again? "I love you" Y/n giggled, and for the first time in his life, Junghwan had found another purpose.
The circumstances are different now though, everything was changing for the couple. After a few months, the honeymoon stage was starting to wear off and things took a detour in their relationship. "Y/n do better next time" Junghwan sighed exasperated at the girl in front of him, Y/n had done the choreography wrong for the second time already. "Sorry..." she said quietly, but he just sighed and turned the music back on for them to redo the choreography. "I'm sorry for lashing out on you, here how about we go over it a few more times and we'll be done?" Y/n nodded as they both started the choreography again. The two weren't perfect, but they were in their first ever relationship and they had to understand each other bit by bit, even if it took time.
Later on, it wasn't just Junghwan, he still loved Y/n to bits, but it seemed that the girl was slowly detaching from the relationship, mostly emotionally but now physically. "Junghwan, is it alright if I eat with my girl friends for awhile?" she asked him, and he was shocked, the two always ate together with his friends and some of hers, but all of a sudden she just wanted to eat with just them now? "Oh that's fine, you have fun ok?" he smiled and Y/n nodded before walking off to her friends.
That same day, Junghwan had taken Y/n home as usual, but she was very quiet. "Hey, are you ok? You've been so quiet" he asked, and she shook her head. "I'm fine, just thinking" Y/n smiled and reassured Junghwan by holding his hand and giving it a squeeze. This seemed to calm him down a bit and he nodded in understanding.
A few weeks later, Y/n had already seemed to treat him as if he wasn't her boyfriend anymore, which left Junghwan dumbfounded. Not only that, he had overheard Y/n talking to her friends and it left him with an aching heart.
"Guys, I just don't think I have feelings for Junghwan anymore. He's a really sweet guy, but I guess the feelings were short lived. I don't deserve him..." Y/n said, then her friend hugged her. "Don't feel like that Y/n, it's normal for relationships not to last. Maybe it just wasn't meant to be you know?" Y/n nodded at her friend and wiped her tears, regaining her composure a bit. So she was losing feelings for him...
"Junghwan, can we talk?" The boy knew what was coming, so he nodded with a heavy heart, ready to hear out his soon to be ex girlfriend. "These past few months have been so fun with you, and you're so amazing Junghwan, I don't think I've said it enough, but...I don't think I can continue being with you" ah there it was, but Junghwan still continued listening. "I'm sorry, it's really not you, it's me...I never thought we would last and it was inevitable, but you don't deserve to be led on by someone like me. So please, let's break up" Y/n said, looking away from him. He sighed, and nodded, it was inevitable after all.
"Alright, whatever makes you happy Y/n. I hope that we both can continue to find the happiness we found in each other, in other people...Take care of yourself for me ok?" the girl nodded as they both went their separate ways. One with a heavy heart, the other with a burden finally off their shoulders.
Weeks later, it seemed like Y/n was happier than ever with a guy from the year above. Junghwan passed them as they both laughed and had bright smiles on their face, a contrast from when they were both dating, as they were both mostly too shy at first to even hold hands at first. "At least she's happy now..." he whispered and walked off.

The Undateables version! Here's the Brothers' post~
Also:
Tumblr media
Not Obey Me related, but I recently found this picture and felt is was fitting lol
~
Diavolo:
His Queen had only been living with him for a few days at this point.
The couple had been dating for two years and the prince had finally decided to bring up the subject of MC moving in with him.
He had wanted to for a while now, but was a afraid to seem too pushy with his Sweetheart.
Plus, part of him worried that they wouldn't want to. After all, there's always something fun going on at House of Lamentation. In comparison, his castle is a quiet, cold place.
That only made the prince want his human to live with him even more though
So when the two discussed the idea and MC said yes, the man was overjoyed.
It's been three days since his Sweetheart moved in though and they seemed rather anxious.
This night, the prince had been working late and was finally ready to retreat to his room for the night, but upon seeing his bed empty and Queen missing, the man grew concerned.
Diavolo stopped his butler in the hall, who was also retreating for the night, to ask where MC was.
Barbatos had informed his lord that the human was in the kitchen, baking some sort of cookie-brownie hybrid treat.
Diavolo raised an eyebrow before thanking his friend and heading to the kitchen.
Just as the other demon said, MC was in the kitchen. The human sat on the floor in front of the stove, watching the treats bake.
"My Queen?"
The human jumped, but upon noticing it was their boyfriend, gave an anxious smile.
"Oh... hi Sweetie."
The prince sat on the floor next to the human, laying his hand on their leg.
"What's wrong? Why are you sitting on the floor at this time of night?"
The human didn't answer, just went back to staring at the stove and wrapping their arms around themselves.
The big demon pulled them into his arms, embracing his Sweetheart.
"MC, you know you can talk to me."
The human buried their face in his chest, breathing in their boyfriend's scent and letting themselves find peace from it.
"I just...please don't be upset..."
He raised an eyebrow.
"Why would I be upset?"
The human sighed and explained it to their boyfriend.
When Diavolo had asked them if they wanted to move in with him, the human became anxious. They weren't really good with change and didn't wanna leave the Brothers, who had become family to them
But they also felt pressured to. Not by Diavolo, but by unspoken expectations. Wasn't two years a long time to date without moving in together? They didn't have anything to compare it to, but they assumed so.
They worried that by saying no, they'd be halting the progression of their relationship and acknowledged that even if they loved living at House of Lamentation that surely they couldn't do so forever.
MC agreed because it felt like it was inevitable that it would happen at some point.
For the first two nights, MC could push through because they got to cuddle their boyfriend as they fell asleep, but since he worked late tonight, MC became so unbearably lonely
And all they could think about was how if they still lived at House of Lamentation that they could have gone to Levi's room to play games or head to the kitchen with Beel and chat as he ate or be comforted by Asmo when gets back from a party or stop in to check up on Lucifer and bring him coffee
But they couldn't because they weren't there and that made the human incredibly anxious and sad.
The human knew it wasn't as if they'd never see the Brothers again, that it was just that they were restricted to the daytime
But their anxiety about the change was still enough to push the human into keeping busy, hence the baking.
The prince felt so guilty. He kissed his Queen's forehead.
"I'm so sorry, my Sweetheart. I did not know that this would be such a difficult adjustment for you."
"I...I didn't say anything so of course you didn't know. Please don't blame yourself."
Diavolo kept his human close and stroked their hair.
"What can I do for you? Would you...would rather move back in with Lucifer and his brothers?"
MC pulled back and gave a small smile to their boyfriend.
"You're too sweet." The human leaned in and kissed their boyfriend. "Dia...thank you. I want stay here with you though; I want to give this a chance because...I know if I can adapt that we're going to be so very happy."
Diavolo smiled back at his Sweetheart and pulled them back in for a tight hug
...then starting smelled something burning.
After handling the now charcoal-looking treats, the prince carried his Queen bridal style back to their room, loving his human so deeply and cherishing this time with them as they both fell asleep.
Barbatos:
MC was staying the night at the castle with him. It was the first time the two of them have ever slept in the same bed
And ever done some...others things.
Tonight was definitely a milestone for the couple.
After the nights activities, the two had fallen asleep.
At some point though, Barbatos woke up with a sudden gnawing feeling as if something was wrong
And glanced at the other side of the bed to find that the human was gone.
After getting dressed, the man wandered the castle in search of them and found MC in the kitchen.
"My Dear?" The butler stepped inside just in time to see them pull the pie out of the oven.
The human smiled nervously at him.
"Oh...hi." They looked away. "Sorry, I just...yeah."
Barbatos raised an eyebrow.
"Is there something on your mind?" He approached the human as they set the pie on the on the counter.
MC stared down into the pie.
"Barb...are you really okay with settling for me?"
The man pursed his lips and stared at them for a moment before laying his hand on their cheek.
"I am sorry I that ever made you believe such a thing was worth asking, my Pet. I assure you, 'settling' is not the case. Life has gifted me with you and I treasure you above all else."
"E...Even though I'm human?"
"MC, I have no issues with your race. You are a person, same as I, and a lovely one at that."
The human launched at the man, pulling him into a hug. Eyes wide, Barb started stroking their hair.
"Is this why you're out of bed and...baking in the middle of the night?"
"Mhmm." His Dear mumbled from against his chest. "I just...I couldn't sleep after...you know...and these thoughts filled my head and I just wanted to keep busy so I didn't have to focus on them."
"Do you regret it, my Dear? Did we move too fast?"
"No!" MC pushed back. "I was ready...I was so happy. I just...afterwards, it just felt kinda scary. You make me feel so incredibly loved and it's overwhelming since I don't feel as if I deserve it."
The human took his hand and squeezed it.
"I love you. This...this is just me. This is my issue and you help just by loving me despite it, okay?"
Barbatos leaned in and kissed their forehead.
"Alright, my Dear." He told them. "Now, is there anything you need?"
MC glanced at the pie then smiled shyly.
"...Wanna eat some cherry pie with me?"
He gave them a small smile in return.
"If that is what you wish, my Dear."
Solomon:
MC was spending the night at Purgatory Hall with their boyfriend.
It was around 1am when Solomon felt the other human slip out of bed.
Assuming they just needed to use the restroom, the man didn't think much of it and let himself drift back to sleep.
About an hour later, the man turned on his side and reached out to hold his little Minx to his chest, just to find the space next to him still empty.
The sorcerer frowned, not able to fall back asleep with MC unaccounted for.
He gave a sleepy groan before kicking off the blankets and rising from the bed, heading towards his door.
He found the other human in the kitchen with the counter covered with peanut butter cookies and a plate of their own with them at the table with a glass of milk.
"Little Minx, was this really necessary at 2am?" He asked, smiling at them in a mild amusement.
The other human jumped at his voice and accidentally dropped their cookie in their milk, causing a splash and small drops of milk to spill on the table.
MC pouted, causing their boyfriend to give a small chuckle.
The sorcerer took a seat next to them and grabbed a cookie for himself, taking a bite as he watched MC try to fish their own cookie out of their milk.
"Why are you awake?" MC asked him softly.
Solomon raised an eyebrow.
"I believe that's my question for you, little Minx."
Silence. MC stared down into their milk, giving up and letting the cookie somewhat float inside.
The man frowned.
"I cannot help if you don't talk to me, MC."
"W...What's going to happen to us?" MC started to fidget in their seat. "I mean...summer is coming and...the school year is ending..."
Solomon watched the other human, letting them continue since he could tell they were trying to find their words in order to continue.
"Are you...is there..." MC bit their lip. "Are we gonna be invited back next year as exchange students? If not...are we...can we still be together? Or do we have to...ya know..."
"Do you honestly think I'd break up with you if we couldn't attend RAD anymore?"
"....."
The man sighed and pulled his Minx into a hug.
"This relationship isn't just something to past the time during my stay here. If that was all it was, I wouldn't have dated you or anyone." He told them. "I'm with you because...it's simply what I want to do. There's something here with you that I never had with others. Something I don't think I could ever let go of."
"Really?"
"Really, little Minx." He smiled at them. "I may not be sure when or if we'll be invited back here, but that will not be a factor in our relationship. We'll simply be happy in the Human realm for a while."
He pulled them in and gave them a long, sweet kiss.
"Now, let's finish off a few cookies and get back to sleep, alright, little Minx?"
Simeon:
MC was spending the night at Purgatory Hall after a game night. Lucifer allowed it, thinking MC would sleep in the extra room in Purgatory Hall, the one that originally would have been theirs anyway if Diavolo hadn't decided that they were safer at House of Lamentation.
Of course, MC was actually in bed with their boyfriend; the other two housemates knew of their relationship at this point and wouldn't tell others their secret.
At some point during the night, Simeon jolted awake. Did he have a bad dream? The man honestly didn't know since whatever he might have dreamt faded quickly as he focused on his breathing and reached out for his Feather--to find that they were no longer laying next to him.
For whatever reason, he had this sickening feeling in him as if something was wrong. He rushed out of bed and went in search of the human.
He found them in the kitchen, asleep on the floor in front of the oven
Which had smoke coming out of it.
The angel ran over and picked up the human, waking them in the process as he sat them by the entry way and went back to deal with the small fire in the oven.
"S-Simeon?" The human called him, sleepy and confused.
With the fire out, the man sighed in relief and returned to his Lamb's side, lowering himself to the floor and pulling them into his arms.
"Oh, my Feather..." He said softly, not losening the embrace.
MC's sleepy brain had finally caught up with the situation.
"Oh my...I'm sorry! I didn't mean to, I swear!"
"You're okay." The man pulled back and eyed them up and down. "You are okay, yes?"
"Yes, I'm fine."
Simeon pulled them back in and held them for a minute more before kissing their forehead.
"Now what were you doing, my Lamb? Why were you out of bed?"
"I was...baking."
"...MC, it's 2am."
The human looked away.
"I know..."
With a pained expression on their face, the human spoke of the bad anxiety they have been feeling as of late, how they were hoping that by staying the night here and sleeping by his side that such anxiety would dissipate, but all it actually did was remind them of all they are scared of.
This relationship...it's so delicate. They cannot openly be with each other without risking ruin. If the wrong person hears, if the Celestial realm even suspects it...everything could fall apart.
"I've just been scared of losing you and it's hard no being able to confide in Lucifer or Mammon or Beel or any of them like I usually do...so the anxiety I've been feeling just built up and I couldn't sleep so I decide get up and I eventually just thought I could bake a few cookies and just busy myself so I don't have to think about it, at least for the time being...but I guess I fell asleep anyway."
"My Feather...you should have told me." He wiped a tear from their cheek, one MC never knew had fallen till then. "I'm so sorry for the stress this has put on you."
"I couldn't...I...I'm scared. I was worried that if I told you how I felt, you'd leave me thinking it was best for me, but in reality, it would crush me."
"MC, I would never. This...you are everything to me. I love you so deeply that I simply wouldn't have the strength to do that."
"You promise?"
"I swear on my very soul that I will do all within my power to stay by your side."
The two stayed huddled together on the floor for awhile, taking comfort in the closeness.
"Well, this...ordeal explains my sudden consciousness earlier."
The angel explained his sudden jolt of panic as he searched for them in bed. When MC asked what he meant, the man continue.
"We seem to have an...unofficial covenant though I'm not quite sure how."
"What's a covenant?"
"It's...I suppose you could compare them to your pacts with the brothers. A covenant is the binding agreement with an angel and a human when they seek protection and Celestial blessings in their life, in exchange for them to serve and help the angel in the Celestial realm for a time after their death. It's to help humans while also serving as another way of expanding the Angelic population." He explained. "However, we have not made such a covenant nor could we if we wanted to...such an agreement cannot be made with those who have made pacts with demons. Still...somehow my soul is reacting to you as if we had made one."
The couple had more questions than answers about their lives together, but it was nothing they could solve that night.
The two talked for a while before Simeon picked his Lamb up and carried them back to bed.
The two fell asleep in an embrace, all worries still in place, but both still feeling that regardless of it all, where they truly belonged was right next to each other.

Ralbert Musician Au
This au is something I first brought up to the wonderful @tarantulas4davey and I've finally gotten around to making. Thank you sm Chandler for appreciating my idea you're the best <3 these are just the basis but I'd love if people sent headcannons in:)
Ps. I'm aware this is inaccurate, I'm not a musician
Edit: Part 2!
---
- okay. backstory. Race and Albert are childhood friends, so they've known each other since they were in diapers. They're super super close. Freinds to lovers, you know the drill
- Albert plays mutiple instruments, but mainly guitar. He mainly learned from his mom, but he's also just,, naturally good at playing instruments.
- Albert is naturally quiet and private about his interests, so it's really no surprise he doesn't tell anyone he plays guitar and stuff.
- He does, however, post anonymous covers of songs on YouTube (and writes his own songs, but we'll get to that later) and people just love it because he has a great v o i c e and it's just enjoyable to listen to.
- But in real life, no-one really knows. Race doesn't actually find out until a year after they start dating (which I'm thinking they started when they were like,, 15? when Albert played for him.
- He does get comfortable enough to play around a few people, but the only places he feels completely comfortable with playing is when doing covers, by himself, or in Race's company.
- Now, he continues this playing covers until one day in the summer between Junior and Senior year, where Albert posts and original song. He'd been writing for awhile, but he only just built up the confidence to share it. And people l o v e it. His channel had a decent following and he was doing pretty well, but after he released it, his channel blew up. And the song wasn't a huge release or anything, it was something he kinda did because he felt like it.
- now, focusing on Race, he isn't an actual musician. But he loves music. Like loves. So those nights when Albert brought out his acoustic guitar and played for him, Race treasured.
- he's an open book, but he also keeps Albert's hobby a secret (even though he wants people to know Albert has a gift for music) because Albert isn't really ready to share that.
- Race is just super super supportive of Albert's music hobby, which does eventually become a career as he gets more comfortable with the idea of releasing music for people to enjoy.
-----
Again, if you have any headcannons, asks are (hopefully) on and welcome. That's all I have for now, I might add more later.

Tumblr media
It Sunday night and all weekend since you told your family about the baby on Friday, you were mostly left to your own devices which for the most part you did hang out with family but today you were just relaxing since your dad was making calls for work, and you just felt like being alone. Your walked around the neighborhood with Dodger, but right now you were in your bed scrolling through Instagram. You came across a photo Jake posted. Him at the skatepark seemingly unbothered by the fact he broke up with you cause he was sitting with another girl cuddled on his side. The post was captioned "Skating with Friends." You frowned deeply, he was already moving on. You finally have a minute to grieve the breakup and he's already moving on. You sighed cuddling up under your blanket deeper. Sniffling you hid your face in your pillow. You should've known it wasn't going to last but you didn't think it would end with you moving back in with your dad pregnant.
"Bubba?" Chris knocked on your door. "Can I come in?" He asked.
"One second!" You hollered wiping the few tears that managed to escape then you closed Instagram opening Netflix on you phone to make it look like you were going to watch a movie instead. "Come in!"
"Hey, Sweetpea. So I have a bit of news." He said walking in and sitting on your bed. You nodded turning your phone off before you sat up. "Well this summer I have to go to LA to film a movie and we'll be there for a few months. You'll have come with me." He told you.
"Okay.. But I'm due in november will we be back here by then?" You said.
"I'm not sure but I can't leave you here alone especially when you'll be pregnant. Bubba it'll only be for a few months and even if the baby is born in LA we'll come back to Boston in no time." He tried to reassure you.
"Okay... Oh dad! I wanted to talk to you about me getting a job so I can pay for the baby..."
"I'll help you pay." He said.
"Dad... But I have to do this on my own.. You can help but more with babysitting not paying for them... Do you know anywhere that might hire me?" You asked. He sighed nodding.
"Probably the McDonald's close to your school. I'll help you get a work permit filled out. If you promise me you won't over work yourself with at your job and with school." He negotiated.
"Deal!"
"Okay now go to bed you have school early in the morning. I'll drive you there." He kissed your forehead before leaving your room. He really hopes you keep up your side of the deal.
---
You jumped out of the car waving to your dad. "Bye!" You hollered smiling at him before making your way up to the school. Joining a new school in the middle of March isn't exactly what you wanted but none the less you can't just not go to school for the rest of the school year. You made it in eyes darting around the hoard of your new classmates all pushing around to get to their lockers.
"Hi! You must be the new girl!" A girl with bright smile said out of no where making you jump.
"Yeah.. I'm y/n... Who are you?"
"I'm Darcy! I'm going to help you find your way around the school! Do you know your locker number?" She asked you cheerfully.
"Uh.. Yeah, uh." You pulled your paper out of your backpack looking over it for your locker number. "Locker 543." You said looking at her smiling.
"Okay! Follow me! So did your family just move here is that why your joining the school so late in the year?" She asked as you began walking.
"Not really I just moved in with my dad." You told her.
"Oh cool!" She said happily as you guys turned down another hallway.
"Yeah..."
"Okay! Here's your locker. What class do you have first?" She asked. You held up your schedule to her before opening your locker. "Mr. Sparks English class. Cool! He's my favorite teacher he's pretty chill." She told you a her bright smile still on her face.
"Cool. Uh where is his class?" You asked her.
"I have to go the opposite way for my class but it's down the hallway on the left second door." She explained. You nodded before began going the other way for her class. You followed her directions to a door. You walked in seeing most of your classmates already there only a few desks empty.
"Hi? Who are you?" He asked giving you a welcoming smile.
"Uh y/n Evans. I'm new." He nodded.
"Okay take a seat."
You went to a empty seat and sat down looking around the classroom. Nothing to strange. "Sorry I'm late!" A boy with black tousled hair and a outfit that looked like it had been thrown on in minutes which you presumed by the fact he was wearing his sweatshirt on backward and inside out.
"It's fine Mr. Conley. Sit down." The teacher said. The boy came over and sat in the empty seat next to you.
"You new?" He whispered to you. All you did was nod.
---
At lunch you sat alone, you haven't made any friends yet. "Hey new girl." The boy from earlier slid into the bench across from you at the table. "I'm conley, Oscar Conley." He said in a slick voice.
"Well Conley, I'm Evans, Y/n Evans." You mocked his slick voice a smile on your face.
"Well, Evans welcome to the school!"
"Mhm.." You nodded noticing his sweatshirt was still in backwards. "Your shirts on backwards and inside out." You pointed out. He frowned looking down at the tag.
"Oh come on no one told me!" You giggled. "It's not funny I've been walking around like this all day."
"It's a little funny."
"Okay new girl, what's your story?" He asked.
"What?"
"Oh come on no one just comes to a new school near the end of March. Let me guess you got into a fight and got expelled from your last school." You shook your head. "Your secretly a spy for the fbi here to spy on one of my classmates because they're apart of the mafia!"
"No!" You laughed.
"Your actually an alien from Mars here to wipe out all of the human race."
"No. I just moved in with my dad." You said rolling your eyes at his crazy assumptions.
"That's boring you should tell everyone your an alien." He said smiling. You laughed.
"Okay. What about you Oscar? Do you sit and talk to all the new kids?" You asked before taking a bite of your lunch.
"Only the ones that look like a secret spy." He joke. You cracked a smile shaking your head.
---
After lunch you and Oscar swapped numbers before Darcy took you away to show you your next class. Right now your sitting outside waiting for your dad to come pick you up. "Evans." You heard Oscar say from behind you. "Waiting for your flying saucer?"
"Yeah." You chuckled looking at him for a second then back ahead at the street. "Well Conley that's my ride see you later!" You stood waving at him before running to your dad's car.
"Thought you said you were taking a break from boys?" Chris asked once you got in.
"Dad he's a friend the only person who talked to me without the school telling them they had to."
"Okay how was school?"
"It was good I made a friend."
He smiled at you beginning to drive as you looked out the window. "Well. Your gonna have to tell him about the baby since he's your friend now."
"Oh yeah." You said.
"Okay I got the paper work for your work permit we'll fill it out then you can apply somewhere you can walk to from school." He said.
You nodded giving him a smile.
A/n: kinda got carried away oops.

"Kalliope!" The sound of her name accompanied by excessive knocking stirs her awake abruptly.
She startles and rolls off the bed onto the floor. "Ah! Jesus, fuck!" She groans and sits up, rubbing her shoulder.
"Is everything okay?" Her sister asks through the door, and Kallie can hear the amusement in her tone.
Pulling herself upright, she glances at the bed and sees Shawn's smooth, muscular back. "Fuck," she mumbles, barely holding in a laugh. "Uh...yeah! I just tripped getting out of bed!" She calls back with a little chuckle.
"It's nine right now, goober. Figured you'd want to be up in time to shower and help with breakfast," Cassie chuckles before her footsteps recede down the hallway.
Releasing a breath of air, Kallie turns back to the bed to find two brown eyes looking at her. "Jeez!" She gasps and closes her eyes to normalize her fast-beating heart. "When did you wake up?" She asks when she opens her eyes again.
"Hard to sleep with all the noise around here," Shawn teases. He rolls over and stands, allowing the sheets to slide off of his almost naked body. Kallie's eyes watch his muscles tighten as he stretches his arms above his head. "I can feel that ya know," he laughs.
She scoffs and stands to make her bed as he finds his clothes. "No, you can't," she argues with warm cheeks as she finds a loose shirt to pull over her shoulders. "I told you you weren't supposed to sleep here!" She groans and starts pushing him toward the window.
"Hey!" He protests as she gets the rope ladder. "You're the one who told me to hold you more," he reminds her and opens the window quietly.
As she secures the ladder to the window and rolls it down the side of the house, her eyebrows furrow. "No, I didn't," she denies, focused on making sure he won't injure himself.
"Yeah, Kal, ya did," he insists while hanging halfway out of the window.
Kallie shakes her head. "Well, I don't remember. Now, go! Before, anyone sees you," she giggles and places her palm flat against his forehead to push him down the ladder.
Shawn quietly enters through his front door and tries to sneak upstairs. His foot doesn't even hit the first step when a voice behind him makes him jump. "Where the hell have you been?" Turning, he sees Peter and Raul entering from the living room.
"Just went for a morning jog," he chuckles nervously.
Peter squints at his attire and crosses his arms. "You don't look like you went for a jog," he accuses suspiciously after seeing no sweat despite him wearing pants and a hoodie in hot weather.
"It was a light jog," he shrugs innocently, "didn't want to stink too much for breakfast since you two always take the hot water."
Raul rolls his eyes and shoves his hands in the pockets of his shorts. "Well, I showered last night. So, there's water left to clean up before we head over," he explains casually.
"Wait," Shawn stops leaning against the railing and takes a step forward. "You never shower at night," he states in confusion.
He just shrugs. "Yeah. Kal and I got a little messy last night," he chuckles and heads back into the living room, ignoring the twitch of Shawn's eye.
The boys arrive at Kallie's just as she's setting down the final plate of food on the table. Her hair is still damp around her shoulders from the shower, barely curling as it dries. Conversation flows chaotically while the boys catch up with Cassie and her moms.
Shawn catches Kallie's eyes as she takes the last sip of her almond milk. She asks him what's up by pinching her brows together. He nods subtly toward the kitchen. Concerned, she stands up.
"I'm gonna start clearing the dirty dishes," she informs everyone as she gathers some plates.
Shawn follows suit. "I'll help," he offers.
"But, cleanup is my thing," Peter points out in confusion.
Patting his shoulder, Shawn takes the dishes he's holding around the table. "Relax, for once. I've got it covered." He disappears into the kitchen after her.
"What's going on?" She asks in a hushed tone as she leans on the counter next to the sink.
Setting the dishes in the sink, he crosses his arms and turns to her. "What exactly did you and Raul get up to last night?" He sighs.
A chuckle slips past her lips before she sees the distraught in his eyes. "We just got ice cream and went to the park," she explains with a shrug.
"And that's it?"
Kallie lets her mouth part in surprise. "Should there be something else I don't remember?" She didn't like the accusation in his tone and Shawn's increasing jealousy was starting to irritate her.
"No," he deadpans, looking out the window above the sink. "It's just that Raul said you guys got messy but you didn't have dirt or anything on you when I came over."
Kallie clicks her tongue and scrunches up her face. "Are you kidding me?" She rolls her eyes and crosses her arms as well. "We got a little childish and were fighting with the ice cream, Shawn."
"But, you-" he begins but she inhales deeply and he cuts himself off.
"I got it in his hair, but he only got it on my arms. It was easy to wash off in the sink before you came," she scoffs.
He drops his arms and steps toward her. "Sorry, I just-"
"I know what 'you just'," she sighs in disappointment. "You can't keep getting jealous every time I hang out with him. Or Peter."
Looking at his feet, he mumbles, "I know."
"I think we should pause this," she declares quietly.
He quickly looks up to meet her eyes. "What? No! I'll stop being jealous. I'll-"
"It's not about that," she lies. She could feel things getting complicated between them and she didn't want that. "We're gonna be at the cabin all summer and there won't be time for it anyway. I don't want to ruin our last summer there with the drama if we get found out."
Nodding slowly, Shawn starts to calm down a little. "That makes sense. But, what about when we go back to university? I mean, we all still live together," he points out.
"I haven't thought that far ahead yet," she admits. "I guess we'll cross that bridge when we come to it." As Kallie finishes her sentence, Peter wanders into the kitchen. "What's up?" She asks with a gentle smile, causing Shawn to look toward the door.
He shuffles shyly toward them, causing her to giggle. "It felt weird sitting out there not doing the dishes with you," he admits with a small grin.
"Then, come help me, Penguin. Shawn is terrible at rinsing," she teases. Shawn meets her eyes with a silent look of fading sadness as Peter sidles up close to her with an enormous grin at one of her many cute nicknames for him. He watches them bump shoulders and giggle before leaving with a sigh.
Later in the day, the boys help load Kallie's bags in the back of Shawn's Jeep before they start their trip to the lake. After hugging her moms and Cassie, they all head out of the house.
"Lemme guess...Kallie gets front seat as always," Raul teases, heading for the backseat.
Shawn nods with a cheeky grin, but Kallie also heads for the backseat. "Actually, I wanted to share the back with Peter..." She sneaks a glance at Shawn who has shock written on his face. He's worried that this 'pause' might be about more than she's letting on.
"Why though?" He clears his throat as Peter catches up to them after saying extended goodbyes to her family.
She shrugs while Raul is already riding shotgun. "This time we're learning sign language." Kallie then looks at Peter as she teases, "We've only got around two weeks left to become fluent."
His eyes flit between Shawn and her, picking up on the unsaid tension between them. He's quiet. But, he's not stupid. Peter lets his features melt into a smile that puts Kallie at ease.
"Sweet!" Peter jostles her by the shoulders excitedly before opening the door for her. With a small glance at Shawn, she gets in the backseat. "Wait...is the sign for 'cabin' this...or...this?" He asks to distract her from whatever is upsetting her. She chuckles as he slides in next to her practicing two gestures that look similar, but neither are anywhere close to meaning 'cabin'.
Clenching his jaw, Shawn slides into the driver's seat and pulls out of the driveway. The usually short two-hour drive to Muskoka was going to feel a lot longer without Kallie up front with him.
The first time that the Mendes' took Kallie to their beautiful cabin at Lake Muskoka was the December after she had first met the boys. Before she was allowed to go, their parents had to meet her parents. They ended up getting along so well that they invited her parents and her sister along as well.
After finally pulling up next to the cabin, Shawn flings off his seatbelt and races toward the door. "I gotta use the bathroom!"
Both of their parents chuckle. "We told you not to drink a whole hot chocolate before we even left Pickering, son," Manny reminds him playfully.
The adults work on unloading the bags, while the rest of the kids pile out of the vehicles. Kallie's eyes are immediately drawn to the lake nearby, covered in white. "Woah," she breathes out, a little intimidated by how big it is.
"You remembered your skates right?" Peter asks from a few steps behind her. She nods silently, not wanting to say that they all had to go out and buy new ones for this trip.
Before Peter can make more conversation, Karen calls out to them, "Lunchtime first! Then, you can skate all you want!"
"I'm starving!" Kallie declares with a giggle as she loops her arm through his. He's a bit surprised but he doesn't say anything as they walk quickly back into the house.
Peter is helping Kallie shed her coat just when Shawn comes back from the restroom. "Kallie, come sit next to me! I'll share my Oreos with you," he entices her.
"Oh, okay!" She says with a small glance at Peter. Shawn is so excited that he runs to the dining room without looking back to save their seats. Leaning toward Peter, she whispers conspiratorially, "You can sit on my other side if you want."
He nods happily and they join everyone else for a quick but filling lunch. Raul is the first to finish. He practically flings his dishes in the sink before issuing a challenge. "Last one on the ice is a loser!"
There's a brief second of silence before the sounds of chairs scraping on wood and dishes clanging overlap. Each one hurries to put their dishes in the sink and get their winter gear back on. Shawn is second out the door not long after Raul, both carrying their hockey skates by the laces.
Cassie and Kallie are neck in neck as they fly through the door in their many layers with brand new ice skates in their mittened hands. They get to the edge of the lake and make quick work of changing their footwear. Cassie throws herself onto the ice in third place, not even caring that she has no idea how to work the skates.
When Kallie knots her last lace, she stands up and puts her mittens back on to dust off the snow on her jeans. She hesitates at the edge, uncertain of how to get started. Her right blade almost touches the ice when she hears the door close in the distance. She looks back to realize that Peter wasn't racing with everyone else.
He takes his time to make his way to the lake while the grownups file out of the cabin behind him. They go about getting the fire pit going so they would all have somewhere to warm up in between activities.
Peter has a bag slung over his shoulder that looks a lot like the one he keeps his drawing stuff in. Kallie was going to wait for him to catch up, but Shawn skids to a stop mere inches from her.
"Let's go, Kal!" He urges and takes her hand to pull her onto the ice. "Once you get going, it'll feel easy!" She tries to protest as he pulls her further onto the ice, too far away from the bank to leap to safety.
Her skates glide along easily as Shawn skates backward, pulling her by the hands. She looks up to see Raul skating in a figure eight, while her older sister seems to be catching on fast. Raul breaks his formation to speed past and bump Shawn's shoulder.
"Hey! I'm gonna get you for that!" Without thinking, he lets go of Kallie's hands to chase after Raul.
She automatically bends over slightly to gain some kind of balance, arms outstretched in front of her in case she falls. Slowly, she pushes off one foot to slide a little faster. An excited giggle escapes her as she continues to practice this in a safe little circle.
Deciding that she's got the basics down, she stands up straight. Her arms stay poised to catch her if something bad happens but she manages to skate in a wider circle. She picks up speed and feels the cold wind whip at her face.
A little further ahead, she sees that her path is going to cross with Shawn and Raul's. The two of them were done with tag and were now racing in a circle. This makes Kallie realize very urgently that no one taught her how to stop.
Panicking, she tries to veer to the left. The tip of her skate catches a chip in the ice and sends her sprawling toward the bank of the lake. She sits up with a hiss, clutching the knee that took most of the impact.
"Kalliope!" She turns toward the sound of her name and finds Peter gliding toward her from the bank. She watches the way he tips his foot upward to use the back of his blade as a brake. He squats down beside her and looks at her knee. "Are you okay?"
She purses her lips and looks away, embarrassed about the crash and burn. "Yeah, it's just scraped," she mumbles, noticing his drawing materials scattered around his bag as if he dropped them in a hurry.
"Then, let's go again," he replies simply and stands up while holding out his hands for her. Kallie turns her head sharply toward him. "I promise I won't let go of you until you want me to."
His reassuring but crooked smile made all of her embarrassment go away. He doesn't care that she's bad at skating. It also made her happy that he would stop doing his favorite thing to teach her how to skate. So, she grabs his hands and lets him help her up.
Peter begins explaining all the "do's and dont's" of skating on lake ice. Apparently, it's different from skating rink ice. He tells her a fun fact about penguins and she laughs, bringing Shawn's attention back to her once again.
He skates over quickly and takes her hand that's not clutching Peter's forearm. "I can teach her from here! You probably want to go back to drawing anyway," he dismisses Peter.
"I don't wanna slow you down," she offers. "You play with Raul while I learn the ropes and tomorrow you can teach me hockey!" He looks at her skeptically, glancing to Peter on the other side of her who is pretending to be very interested in his skates. "Promise."
He nods. "Okay, if you're sure..." Kallie smiles in return and Shawn can't help but smile back. "Be careful, okay?"
"Always, duh," she teases before turning back to Peter. Shawn hears the conversation fade as Peter leads her around the lake. "So, penguins really build nests out of rocks?" She laughs.
He nods with a chuckle before spending the better part of two hours patiently teaching her how to skate. Once he's sure she's got it, he lets go and watches her glide ahead of him. She's so enraptured in skating that it takes a minute to realize he's not holding her hand.
Kallie immediately digs her heel into the ice and turns back. "Hey!" She crosses her arms with a pout as he skates up to her.
"What?" He laughs, "you were doing amazing!"
Her lip quivers the slightest bit and she avoids looking directly at him. "You promised you wouldn't let go," she murmurs.
"Kalliope," Peter breathes out her full name guiltily, "I'm really sorry. You were just doing so good and that's how mom and dad taught us how to ride bikes...so I figured..." he trails off with a shrug.
She sniffles and he's unsure if it's because she's sad or because of the cold. "Don't do it again," she pleads before carefully unfolding her arms to her sides.
"Promise," he instinctually replies. She raises her eyebrows at him. "For real this time." Peter grins and takes her hand tightly in his. Kallie can't help but smile as he pulls her along the edge of the lake.
"Moms! Look! I'm doing it!" She yells in excitement at her mothers. They both get up and quickly make their way to the edge of the lake with their cameras.
Proud looks cross their faces as they capture the two of them skating close together, hands tightly clutching each other. Manny and Karen come up behind them and share a knowing adult look. Cassie skates over to get in the pictures before Raul and Shawn join. Soon there's a picture of the five of them all wrapped around each other that they have framed and hanging on the living room wall of the cabin.
Kallie runs her fingers along the wooden frame of that picture in the living room, in the exact space on the wall that it's been hanging for about twelve years. She grins momentarily, the nostalgia quickly fading to sadness as the reality of it all hits her. This is probably the last summer they're gonna spend together here.
As the door creaks open and the boys clatter inside with arms full of bags and laughing, she shakes herself out of the sad mood. "I could've helped carry my stuff in, ya know!" She chuckles and moves to close the door behind them.
"That is absolutely not happening on our watch!" Shawn spouts nonsense while he struggles to keep a grip on her duffles.
She nods empathetically before taking them out of his hands with zero effort. "Seems like you need to hit the gym, Mendes," she digs at him as he automatically stands up straighter without the extra weight of her bags.
Kallie makes her way upstairs toward the bedrooms while the boys stare after her. "How is she doing that?" Shawn muses out loud and with a little envy.
"When did she get more ripped than you, bro?" Raul teases to Shawn's chagrin.
Peter interrupts as he walks backward toward the stairs. "She's always been able to carry her weight. You two have just always been too busy staring at her ass to notice." With a smirk, he spins around and jogs up the stairs, bags slung over his shoulders.
"Okay..." Shawn stretches out the word. "But, when did the runt start lifting like that?" Raul laughs out loud while he jostles Shawn's shoulders and shoves him toward the stairs.
When they were younger, the boys would share one room, the girls another, and both sets of parents had one to themselves. Since they're here by themselves, each could have their own for the whole summer. Kallie stands in the hallway debating which one to take as the boys catch up to her.
"What are you doing?" Raul questions with a chuckle. "Unpack so we can hit the lake before dark!"
She looks between the four doors and then the three boys. "Who's staying in what room, though?"
"Well, which one do you want?" Peter asks her and she quirks her brows together.
"Whichever one is left after you guys pick." She says it so simply. Like it's the most obvious thing in the world. The boys loved that about her. She always made sure they were taken care of.
"Dibs on mom and dad's old room, then!" Raul shouts before taking off toward the end of the hall.
"No fair!" Shawn shouts after him.
"I'm the oldest! Of course, it's fair!" He calls back.
Peter chimes in with a laugh. "Technically, Kallie is the oldest! But, whatever!" He shrugs.
"Guess I'll take our old room," Shawn sighs, unhappy with being cheated out of the master bedroom.
As he wanders back in the direction of the stairs, Peter touches Kallie's elbow gently. "You okay?" She'd gone quiet since looking at the door to the girls' old room.
"Mhm," she takes a deep breath and zones back in on Peter's concerned look, "promise." She forces a small smile.
"You can have the room your moms used," he offers kindly. "I don't mind staying in the smallest one."
When she glances back at the door, she can't bring herself to disagree. "Thank you..." she says quietly. He nods in understanding. "I haven't been able to go in there since..."
"I know." He takes her hand and squeezes it before going to settle into his room. She stands there for a second more before heading to her moms' old room and unpacking briefly.
That room holds a lot of memories for her. For all of them really. Not all of them good ones, though. She finds her favorite swimsuit and throws it on before putting her hair in a single braid. Meeting the boys out front, she doesn't fail to notice how all of their gazes linger on the dips and curves of her body. She shakes it off and heads to the water with them in tow.
Later that night after everyone's showered and dinner was long over, she sits on the bed in her room scrolling through Pinterest for new recipes to try. A knock draws her attention to the doorway where Raul leans against it.
"Hey," she sets her phone in her lap, "need something?"
He shrugs, almost stepping into the room but hesitating. "Just wanted to make sure you're doing okay," he confesses. Kallie takes a deep breath. "We haven't been back here since senior year..."
"Yeah, I know," she deadpans and looks toward the window. She closes her eyes and sighs. "Sorry. Thank you, I'm fine."
This time, he doesn't hesitate to enter and sit at the edge of her bed. "You don't have to apologize. It's okay to not be fine." He sets his ringed hand atop her knee over the blanket.
"I know," Kallie pauses, "I know that." She sounds like she's trying to convince herself more than him. "It just feels wrong to not be fine, ya know?" She shrugs and plays with the yarn of the blanket.
He chuckles lightly. "It's also okay to be fine." She glances at him before he continues. "I know you miss her. But, you can miss her and move on. Lin wouldn't want you to be sad forever. That's not who she was," he comforts her.
"I don't wanna move on, Raul," she whimpers finally and reaches her arms out to him. He instantly brings his arms around her waist and squeezes her tight.
"That was a poor choice of words on my part," he admits into her hair. "I meant..." he pauses, struggling for the right thing to say as he rubs her back soothingly.
Kallie rubs her nose along his neck and he stills. "I know what you meant." She sniffles and pulls back from him, wiping at her wet eyes. "Thank you."
"I'm just down the hall if you need anything," he promises as he gets up. She smiles softly at him as he leans in and kisses her forehead. Sighing at the soft gesture, her eyes close in response. "Night, Kit Kat."
She fights a grin. "Night, Playboy."
Kallie lays back on her pillows as Raul leaves. She's about to turn out the lights when Shawn walks by toward his room. "Hey," she calls softly. He freezes and backtracks a few steps to be in the open doorway.
"Hey, Kal," he replies while sheepishly rubbing the back of his neck. Her eyes flick to his chest and his lack of a shirt before reeling in her thoughts. "Everything okay?"
He heads into her room and closes the door behind him by habit. Her eyes widen and he realizes what he did. Shawn turns back to open it but she stops him. "It's okay, you can leave it closed," she chuckles.
"Right..." He makes his way over to her and sits gingerly on the bed. For a minute, they just sit in silence. It stretches on awkwardly since they haven't really talked since she asked for a 'pause' on their pact. "I'm really sor-"
"I just wanted to-" They both pause after talking over each other and giggle. "You go." She nudges his hand with hers, leaving it close by but not touching.
He nods. "I just wanted to say I'm sorry for how I acted this morning," he begins timidly. "It was wrong of me to accuse you of anything and to not trust you."
"It's okay," Kallie responds automatically even though Shawn shakes his head. "No, it really is. I get the whole sibling jealousy thing. It's not as intense with my sister but I get it," she chuckles and he cracks a grin. "You're all my best friends and I don't want to cause trouble between you three..."
Shawn sighs. "Is that why you paused us?" He questions. Slowly, she nods and he closes his eyes to compose himself. "Thank god," he breathes out. When he opens his eyes, she has a confused look on her face. "I'm relieved that it's not because of me or something," he laughs.
"No!" She laughs too. "I guess I just wanted to cut it off before any complications started messing with our Musketeer dynamic." His eyebrows scrunch together, wondering what she meant by that. "Never mind," she scoffs, changing the subject, "I'm glad we cleared this up though, eh?"
He blinks a couple of times, his mind trying to find what exactly has been 'cleared up.' "So, this means..." Shawn stalls, hopefully sending the message for her to finish the sentence.
She giggles and finishes it, "That once we go back to Toronto...we can unpause." His lips pull into an elated grin, causing her cheeks to blush for no reason. "We're all gonna be really busy, but if our schedules allow...then, yes. We can unpause," she informs him.
"Yes!" He cheers before catching himself and regaining composure. Clearing his throat, he responds, "I mean, thank you. I would very much like that. And I promise to keep my jealousy in check from now on."
Kallie nods like it's an appropriate response. "As you should," she giggles.
"I'm gonna leave before you change your mind," he declares. Before he does, Shawn leans in and places his lips on hers briefly but passionately. He pulls back with a knowing look. "Just to leave you wanting more until the next time, eh," he teases as he practically sprints to the door.
She throws a pillow at him and misses. "Goodnight, you heathen!" He rolls his eyes and disappears down the hall.
After a moment, Kallie turns out her light and closes her eyes to go to sleep. She tosses and turns for a while before throwing the blankets off of her in frustration. She grabs her phone and unplugs her charger from the wall before creeping down the hallway.
Quietly, she raps her knuckles on the bedroom door a few times. A few seconds pass and she hears him call out in a whisper-yell, "It's open!" She carefully opens the door, trying not to make it creak, and peeks her head in.
"Hi." She hesitates in the doorway, looking around and then at her feet. Taking a deep breath, she tip-toes in, closing the door behind her with a light 'click.'
Peter turns his book over and lays it open in his lap when he realizes she just walked into the room she hasn't step foot in in almost four years. "Hey, Kalliope." She smiles softly as her full name leaves his lips. Kallie doesn't know why, but he's always called her by her full name. And he's the only one who does.
"I forgot to bring Copper," she admits, dragging her feet as she walks toward the bed. Silently, he flips the blankets over so she can crawl in next to him. He knows she can never sleep without her stuffed fox. The only way she can is if she can cuddle someone in his place.
Kallie quickly tosses him her charger to plug in. Then with a childlike grin, she crawls over him to settle in under the blankets. Peter looks away as the T-shirt that she's wearing lifts up, exposing her underwear slightly. He didn't want to, but he notices that they were men's boxer briefs and he has to stifle a laugh. Kallie always prefers comfort over anything else, gender norms be damned.
She's about to cuddle into his side when she realizes that he's shirtless. Swallowing slightly, she tries not to rake her eyes over his smooth chest and the way his butterfly tattoo accentuates his bicep. You wouldn't know it when he's wearing his sweaters, but Peter stays fit.
"I can put on a shirt if it'd make you more comfortable." He snaps her out of her daze when he notices her staring.
Kallie quickly makes her eyes meet his warm caramel ones. "No, you don't have to do that," she breathes out, "I was honestly just thinking about the last time I saw you shirtless."
"Oh..." A blush crawls along his neck and up to his cheeks. "It's been a minute, eh?" He chuckles. She tips her head to the side and pulls up one shoulder in a shrug with a giggle.
With a comfortable atmosphere, she scoots closer and he lifts his arm to make more room. Kallie leans up and kisses him on his cheek, lingering a second longer than usual. He breathes in deeply, notes of cherry blossom drifting from her hair. When she pulls back she looks at him for a second before laying her head down on his chest.
He makes sure she's comfortable before pulling the blankets back up and positioning his book so that he can hold it with one hand. His other gently caresses her side and rubs circles into her back. Peter begins to read out loud even though Kallie doesn't know what the book is about. Truthfully, she never cares. She likes him reading out loud to her because of the sound of his voice mixing with his heartbeat under her ear.
Occasionally, he lifts his hand up to play with her hair or run his fingers along her scalp. She hums contently and cuddles closer when he does. He finishes his chapter and sets the book on the nightstand before turning out the light. He wraps both arms around her and settles into the pillows.
His hand finds hers in the darkness laces their fingers together. Carefully, he brings her knuckles to his lips and lets them linger there. When he's finished, he rubs her knuckles with his thumb. "Goodnight, Kalliope," he whispers, assuming she's asleep.
Kallie's head nuzzles his chest and he feels her lips brush the skin of his collarbone before pressing in for a long moment. She angles her head up to his ear and whispers back, "Goodnight, Peppermint."

Day 3. February 1, 2020. Christchurch to Mt. Cook Village. 355km.
After a solid night's rest at our nicely appointed 3 level apartment in the Merivale neighborhood, the task of figuring out the best way to load all the gear/clothes on the bike was the first challenge of the day. With the large rolling duffel left at the bike shop I was pretty confident that everything would fit, but since I would be in a tough spot if it didn't, there was some trepidation as I bought my first pannier liner (borrowed from the Multistrada) down to the bike. The Duc has different sized panniers as one side's volume is cut nearly in half to accommodate and the Italian emphasis on aesthetics. The BMW has frame mounted and equally sized rectangular Givi plastic panniers. Our rental company informed us yesterday that although these bags have a triple clip closures and were supposed to be waterproof, they weren't "New Zealand rain-proof" as the southern and western portions of this island have rainfall measured in feet not inches! 🌧 I brought down the wider bag hoping that it would fit. Murphy once again intervened and it seemed a couple inches too wide. I decided to zip up the expansion section with some side of my body mass the same clothes were smashed a couple inches. Alas, still no go on the bag. So, a retreat to the third floor to rejigger everything. Let's just say I was glad I brought a 70l dry bag for the bike's tail. I needed it once I had to remove some items from my side/pannier. Anyway as I secured my heavier than expected tail bag with my trusty Rok Straps and slipped onto Papanui Road headed for the Southern Alps, I didn't pop a wheelie and felt that logistics weren't now just in need of some tweaking. A system to organize and pack is key to making the daily cycles of unpacking, loading, unloading, repacking an easy and stress-free task. The 70l bag gave me a large margin of error so I did overpack knowing I had this extra room if needed.
Saturday AM brought us little traffic as we rode along the other side of Hagley Park into the Westfield Riccarton area of CHC. A few other bikes were on the road and within 15-20' we started increasing our speed (in accordance with the posted limits, mostly 😉) as we left CHC and development behind. We rode past some of those horse racing tracks and saw a few jockeys wheeling around on their sulkies. For an hour or more we headed west and a bit south enmeshed in a patchwork of farmland. Flat, broken up by Irish style hedges and trees that were manicured and coerced into natural fence lines blocking wind effectively while creating visual barriers. Some small towns and without breakfast (not like me) I was tempted to call for a stop but we were aiming for Fairlie, where a few folks had impressed upon us the need to sample the pie 🥧 in Fairlie. Now when I hear pie, I'm thinking fruit. Usually cherry or apple. But the pies of note on our radar were of the meat variety! I didn't want to ruin my appetite. After a couple hours something changed. We made a turn in the road that wasn't a left or right, but an undulation. Wait, was that a hillside up ahead? All of a sudden we were in the foothills. Gone the flat farms of sheep, cows and agriculture. Now we were winding on increasingly common twisties. As we gained elevation the ambient temp dropped from around 22°C all the way down to 13.5°C (about 56°, still not really cold). We did end up stopping for a light bite in Geraldine at the Running Duck. I had a Coconut Ice (smoothie) and a heated raisin danish. A Ducati monster was parked there and he was stretching out in a chaise type lounger soaking up the sun. Bubba the elephant allowed the local server to locate us outside as most tables were full with travelers. We had taken the inland road which was recommended as more scenic and less traffic. At Geraldine we joined the main commercial road conducting summer crowds up to the Alps and Mt. Cook. A fuel stop there after the danish and off to Fairlie. We chose the Fairlie Bakery and despite the hype, were not disappointed with the buttered chicken and mushroom pie. 😋 We had passed some more interesting farms that included emu, caribou, deer, alpaca along with the more common farm animals. We were now traversing and crossing glacial runoff/moraine. The distinctive turquoise color of the glacial water is visually magnetic. 👀 It is caused by the silt or "rock flour" the water carries and is very distinctive.
Next on the Day 3 hit parade were two stunning glacial lakes. Lake Tekapo and the oft photographed stone Church of the Good Shepherd prompted a photo stop along with a hundred Chinese tourists. It sits near the road overlooking the colorful lake with a view of Mt. Cook aka "Aoraki" in Maori towering to 12,218'. Loads of small RV's everywhere too! #rvlife Riding past Tekapo on to Lake Pukaki which was equally turquoise. Afternoon had brought us a high, thin overcast which kept us from capturing the water's full visual splendor. It is still over 50kms from Pukaki to the end of the road here in Mt. Cook village as you wind up the valley and the glacial run-off becomes a river feeding the lake. There are a number of sizable glaciers here. We are going to tour glaciers by boat later on the ride at Milford Sound so we'll just enjoy the blue glacier ice from the valley floor today. There are a number of well marked trails through the unique alpine environment here as the whole area is a national park. Some trails through woods, others pass over hills to provide panoramic views of the Hooker and Tasman glaciers (the matter is the longest in NZ). Lodging here is limited and we opted to stay at the very nice Hermitage resort. Upon check-in we were informed the room wasn't ready. A bit of persuasion involving the manager whom we requested promptly solved the 1 1/2 hour previously proclaimed delay for a room not yet ready and a corner room with a spectacular view was provided. 😊 We're gonna explore the area for a bit now and hardly think the pics will do today justice but I'll attach 10 to follow. The weather has held off and so far no rain. Tomorrow is supposed to be different but we'll see if the meteorologists are again proven to be inaccurate. We walked through a heavily wooded seemingly tropical path on the way to a dinner which was accompanied by some dense bushes, trees and stairs. A bit of interesting history regarding Aoraki. Sir Edmund Hillary, a Kiwi born in Auckland who is best known for being the first man to climb Everest, cut his teeth on this mountain. 6 years prior to his successful assault on Everest with Tenzing Norgay he was learning the skills needed for the Himalayas right here. https://teara.govt.nz/en/photograph/28327/hillary-and-ayres-on-aorakimt-cook-1947 Mt. Cook has claimed over 80 lives this past century.

EPs: "we chose Netflix to explore things like sexuality" (nothing was explored or was explicit for even 2 seconds) "when they told us u cant kill Shiro, we knew we could push the reveal 4 later" (so nice of them to admit they stopped our rep just to be able to kill him) "when we found out about byg we knew we coulnt kill Shiro & we thought we'll find rep w another character. Then we learned we could go on w/ Shiro as the rep" (theres ANOTHER REP WE DIDNT GET?? Was it vague then erased? Whatt??)
I think these are two separate issues. One is related to who made VLD, and the other is related to the EPs’ ignorance of characterization. The second overlaps with a bunch of asks I’ve recently gotten about race and representation, so here I’m just keeping it to a general discussion of characterization, with Lance as example. And then about Shiro in particular, how the EPs’ statements reveal their lack of thought.
Behind the cut.
remember where these people came from
The team behind VLD is almost entirely formerly Nickelodeon. DreamWorks wanted to break into television on a much larger scale, and since they almost always promote from outside the company, they lured over Margie Cohn from her position as a Nick VP. As VP/exec levels tend to do, Cohn brought a bunch of people with her.
One of those was Mark Taylor, who’d been involved in both AtLA and LoK. Taylor, in turn, brought JDS, LM, and I think one or two of the other producers. Taylor also probably brought over Hamilton, Chan, and Hedrick, as known entities with proven track records.
These are people who — for for the last ten or more years — have swum in Nickelodeon’s considerably more conservative fishbowl. It’s entirely possible (given what people tell me about storylines in HTTYD, and DW’s open support of She-Ra) the former Nickelodeon team automatically downgraded DW’s “go ahead and explore these heavier/darker topics” to mean “maybe kinda mention in passing but don’t be too obvious about it.”
Now, to be fair, the EPs may have pushed for more LGBT+ rep, and their obstacle might not have been DW, but Taylor. It’d explain how the EPs could praise everyone (read: DreamWorks staff) as supportive, yet allso complain about pushback (read: Taylor’s Nickelodeon-influenced sensibilities). Two different parties were calling the shots.
It’s also possible what the EPs saw as ‘rep’ was still considerably toned-down from what DW execs (and the VAs) may’ve expected. After all, that one-minute scene in VLD might’ve required an act of god at Nickelodeon. VLD’s staff may have genuinely considered this scene landmark because even that tiny bit was far more than their previous employer would’ve allowed.
Cue the victory lap and excited chatter, and seeming blindness to Korra being long since surpassed by Steven Universe, Young Justice, Bob’s Burgers, Adventure Time, Gravity Falls, RWBY, Rick and Morty, Clarence, BoJack Horseman, Danger & Eggs, Big Mouth, and Summer Camp Island. Remember, it wasn’t until 2016 that Nickelodeon would have a married gay couple (in The Loud House), and they’re not even central characters. The VLD staff may’ve thought itself bold, and unprepared for the reality of modern (non-Nickelodeon) audience expectations.
No, I don’t think that absolves them. It just seems the most reasonable explanation. That is, short of seeing the EPs as so utterly cynical they’d pump up the audience for what amounted to a nothingburger in light of what else popular media now delivers.
and then there’s representation
VLD’s troubles can all be traced to one crucial detail: the EPs don’t understand that characters are the bedrock of stories. And as such, there are no shortcuts.
Ever had the misfortune to catch a home decorating show? Here we have a windowless basement: mock up a mantle from polystyrene, paint the walls gray, put up sconces with flickering lightbulbs… it’s still a basement. It’s just now desperately pretending to be something it isn’t. The bones of the structure are undeniably American Suburbia, not generic castle keep, and those bones are integral to how we experience the space.
The average person isn’t trained to be aware of those bones — the underlying architecture — and its subtle impact on our experience, just as most non-storytellers aren’t trained to see how and where and why characters create plot. I guarantee you, though, you will never mistake a late-century Kmart for the Centre Pompidou or the Forbidden City or Mount Vernon. Just as you would never mistake a beginner’s first novel for Lord of the Rings or Left Hand of Darkness.
That is, the dressed stone isn’t paint and plaster; it’s a core element informing (even dictating) height, width, and depth of a space. Characterization is the same: it must be structural. In turn, characters inform the breadth and depth of the story. If your characterization is shallow, wild swerves and dramatic reveals can make the story fun, but they will never make it deep.
I empathize with the (hopefully genuine) intent to avoid making Shiro’s sexuality a ‘reveal.’ The unfortunate truth is: waiting 60+ episodes to even mention in passing makes it a reveal. It wasn’t structural, or viewers would’ve been sensing it from the very beginning.
This isn’t a haircut or a pair of jeans. It’s a person’s identity, and that has crucial impact on hopes, fears, desires, and needs. It doesn’t start only once the audience is let in on the secret; it was always there. It should’ve informed the character’s actions and reactions all along.
If Lance is Cuban, and the story takes place in a quasi-future America, then to understand Lance’s perspective, we need to ask questions like: is Cuba still under embargo? Is it a free democracy now, or did Lance’s family flee at some point? Is he part of an exchange program, or is there a lottery that let him come to the US for his education? Did he leave his family behind? How young was he, when he left? What was his childhood like, and how does that differ from what he found in America? What was his parents’ relationship like, and how does that influence his expectations for friends and lovers?
Was he fluent in English when he arrived, or did he only become fluent later? Does his Spanish have a noticeable accent, and if so, has he felt isolated from other Latinx at school? Or is he the only Latino at the Garrison? Is he proud of his heritage, or ashamed of it? Did he get bullied for being foreign, and how did that change what he says/does? Even if America is joyfully multi-cultural, he’d still be an immigrant or foreigner, and that’s a different experience from a non-white community that’s multi-generation American. What was his impression of his new life? What compared favorably (or not) to his childhood?
It’s not just, “He’s a boy from Cuba.” You have to think about what it means to be ‘from Cuba’ and how this is different from, say, growing up next door to the Garrison (like Pidge probably did). If you put that much thought into it, if you talk to people who’ve lived that experience, if you push yourself to imagine as deeply as you can how Lance’s life would have shaped him?
By the time you’re done, Lance would never need to say a word.
His reactions, his assumptions, maybe a few mannerisms, his humor, a few throwaway comments about his family or things he did as a kid — and there would be Cubans in the audience going, “hey, wait a minute, he’s just like my cousin.” Or brother or uncle or friend. By the time someone asks at a panel? Half the audience would be saying, yeah, we were right, Lance is totally Cuban.
Or you don’t think about it, and you use stereotypes in hopes that’ll do the work for you. As @sjwwerewolf commented:
Man, I’m ready to rant about Voltron. I’m Cuban. Lance, oh boy, Lance. From season 1 on, he has been written as a huge stereotype. The flirtatious, passionate comic relief character who’s dumb. Like. He’s literally Antman’s sidekick. That character. All you need to make him a full caricature is like, “I have a gangster brother.“
The stereotype is a shortcut. It’s slapping on behaviors without thought for a real person’s experiences or perspectives. VLD is, sadly, full of them: the Latino (wannabe) lover, the big guy who likes food (with only the slightest twist to have him actually good at cooking), the boyish-girl who’s a brain and likes computers more than people, etc.
just pull shiro out of a hat
At some point early on, the EPs said (once again in an interview, not in the story) that VLD is a world without homophobia. The story itself contradicts that ideal, or at least, it emphasizes a certain level of heternormativity over an open embrace of diverse relationships. What’s in our face for six seasons is Lance’s lover-boy stereotype, Allura’s attraction to Lotor, Lotor’s attraction to Allura, Matt’s attraction to Allura, and so on… and the closest we get to anything resembling an alternate attraction is one blush from a servant in a flashback, and Kuron’s startled reaction to Keith’s return.
All VLD had to do was have Hunk mention his moms. Or Coran mention his late husband. Or Lance mention his sister’s wife. Something explicit to offset the heterosexual attractions going on. Frankly, for six seasons it was an open question whether homosexuality even existed in VLD: the absence of a negative is not proof of the presence of a positive.
That absence means we really have no idea how being queer in VLD’s world would affect a character — and it would, have no doubt. Our sexuality affects every single one of us; it’s just that straight people have the benefit of seeing the roadmap of their sexuality played out in a million books, movies, and television shows. If you haven’t given thought to whether this is also true in your world, then you don’t really know how a character could discover, define, and map their sexuality, or how they’d quantify or qualify relationships that overlap their sexual preferences. You don’t understand the structure.
That lack of thought means, nine times out of ten, the creator has said to themselves, “it’s easier to just say this character’s experience of their sexuality is exactly like the one I, as a straight person, vaguely recall having (that I never actually had to question because it was already mapped out for me, everywhere I looked).” That’s not a queer character. That’s a character with a label slapped on their forehead that says here be a queer character. It’s paint, because the structure underneath is straight person.
Which means that of course the EPs could consider making someone else “the rep,” because they really seem to believe this is as easy as removing the label from Shiro’s forehead and sticking it on someone else. And it’s not. People don’t work like that. Sexuality is no more a simple paint-job than race, gender, culture, or dis/ability. Each of these things is etched on our bones, literally or metaphorically, and that changes us all the way through.
The short version, then, is: no, we wouldn’t have gotten any other rep, just as we haven’t truly gotten any rep as VLD was delivered. Shiro has a label on his forehead, but unless and until the canonical story demonstrates this goes all the way down to his bones… he’s just a straight suburban basement with a mediocre paint job and some fake queer columns.
