Every day I think about the implied rich lore behind El's family / Athalantar and how we'll never get it
#OOC / HOLLY.#and that's bittersweet for El too#they also never get this lore [altho perhaps they could've dug for it at some point]#their father wanted nothing to do with politics and so removed himself entirely to live quietly in the countryside#El didn't even know their surname until their village was massacred and parents slain#they had no contact with any of their many uncles#they met only one — a tyrant — on the day they killed him#they never knew their grandparents either#again they were raised away from court + their grandfather at least died when they were 4#looking into any family history while in Athalantar simply wasn't feasible either#they had to keep their identity a secret or be slain; they were actively hunted since they were 12#and the kingdom was ruled by such tyrants [their uncle and the mages puppeteering him] that you couldn't ask anyone anything#it was a time and place where you kept your head down#plus of course the years El spent traveling / training#then they left never to return after abdicating the throne. staying would've jeopardized Helm's rule
