the worst (best) dynamic imo here is danny and vlad's in the sense that they do earnestly want to be each other's family but their morals are diametrically opposed and so it cant work unless one of them changes. they're playing tug-o-war with the other's beliefs but can't seem to get the other to cross that line.

I'm not too familiar with Neon J since I focus on 1010 waaaaay more lmfao, but whatever floats your boat!! the fun part about NSR being purposefully vague is that ppl can fill in with their own theories and headcanons!!

like, you could deffo characterize Neon J as someone aware of the disease, but too direct and straightforward to experience it himself in any meaningful way so it just goes under his radar most of the time (heh...........radar......heh). or just straight up forgetting about his experiences with hanahaki before becoming a cyborg and all, if you wanna include that one popular characterization of his memories being all fucked up / not knowing if he's a true person or had fake implanted memories

and he could still get hanahaki disease over feelings he's not aware he's repressing, similar to Eve - maybe it's harder for Neon J to notice that he's growing flowers due to his status as a cyborg? since he lacks a proper mouth, it's not as easy as coughing up a few petals. maybe he confuses the feeling of things growing inside with the feeling of phantom limbs, and he just keeps on unconsciously tackling his feelings properly before they can become a SERIOUS problem. maybe discovering that 1010 has been hiding their own hanahaki from him is the catalyst that makes him realize it could be happening to him, who knows!

or you could also think that he's been struggling with hanahaki and hiding it from everyone as well, which is so fucking hilariously ironic to me

there's also the subject of him being a war veteran and all, if you wanna get more in-depth about hanahaki within the universe instead of just individual characters? like, there's probably some fucked up training to ensure soldiers and shit don't choke up with hanahaki. I VAGUELY remember some concepts from very early fandom days about hanahaki being a thing you could REMOVE from your body, at the cost of never feeling anything ever again - a metaphor for becoming entirely numb and isolated from your own feelings etc, so yeah! go wild!!

btw being annoying abt this thing that happened almost a week ago at this point bc had no tumblr then but i remember at one point when we were with our cousins and kinda just chatting and hanging out nd stuff my sibling just like. was repeatedly like being mean and insulting me for the most minor things and like it was rude but didnt rly hurt that much it was j whatever yk but they kept doing this but i was mostly like whatever even though they were being pretty mean nd at some point they were like "go walk of a cliff" and i was jokingly like "ill tell mum you said that" and then they were like "well you can tell that to her but i can tell her things too yk" basically threatening to out me or like. tell our parents about me having online friends and shit which is a pretty fucked thing to say and like. a completely inordinate reaction to me making a joke but we were around other ppl nd my i wasnt out to one of the cousins so i cldnt be like "hey what the fuck is wrong with you for threatening to out me over a joke" so i was just like "you kept insulting me and our cousins thats rude!" and then they got so sulky and was like "oh im not allowed to insult people but people are allowed to insult me?" even though that like. i never said that ?? and none of us were insulting them ??? and when i was like "i never said that its wrong for people to insult you too" they started talking about how im allowed to be annoying though and thats not fair when they cant insult me or whatever. hi.

chat we are getting freaky with this one/j love the idea of jack progressively becoming more monster like and stuff with time something something human morphing into something else trope my beloved notes: reader is gn, leaning into the monstrous side of jack for this one, implied that hes more deteriorated than how i normally write him, established relationship, reader is aware of jacks deterioration cws: canon typical violence and gore, jack keeps an eye on you and that can be labeled as light stalking, jack is kind of deteriorating compared to how hes usually written

a lot of internal conflict for him... on one hand he knows that its only a matter of time before he hurts you himself thanks to his instability and blood lust.... but on the other hand hes grown so fond of you that he cant bear the thought of you leaving

hes not very physically affectionate but he does like knowing where you are at all times if he can, as well as having a means to get to you

when he is physical he holds you closer and firmer than before... teeth clenched close to your ear as he mutters about how youre both made for each other and that hes never going to leave your side

if you dont show up to his place at least for a little while for a bit hes going to go out looking for you, and hes not going to stop until he figures out where you are and why you havent come to him
