aitnists week 19
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The main story is finished serializing on Patreon! 🥳
So Chapter 19 just hit AO3 and Chapter 20, the final chapter, is now on Patreon. There is still one more additional scene I'm going to post there, but not until after the main story is finished serializing on AO3.
Once both sides are finished serializing, I'm going to take aim at the ebook, which I'm hoping to have up and ready by mid-October. That said, the responses I got to the survey really made me reconsider how I was intending to handle the publishing side of things... I'm still learning about my options and stewing on the best way forward, so the ebook might take a little bit longer.
(I'll have a post up about my thoughts there later.)
Anyway, onto this week's chapters!
And In The Night, I See The Stars (Ch.19) OMC/Minotaur | Chapter Rating: T | Chapter Length: 3k words Phaidros is used to making sacrifices to ensure a safe voyage -- but every man has his limits. -------------- And In The Night, I See The Stars (Ch.20) OMC/Minotaur | Chapter Rating: T | Chapter Length: 3k words Phaidros and Asterion speak in the light of rosy-fingered dawn.
In addition to this week's chapters, I also posted the last Designing post on the free tier of Patreon. It's about Asterion's injury from Ch19, what it looks like, and why that's extremely important.
Like I can't overstate how important it is, tbh, to the point where I might post spoilers on main after the AO3 crowd has had a chance to read Ch19 just to make sure everyone has access to the info.
Anyway! For now, though, thanks as always for reading and I hope you enjoy.

For the Laicion nation (aka, me and three other people)
I had this illustration commissioned (a big thank you to @lunehowls) for my werewolf AU Laicion fic (still a WIP).
The general pitch is as follows :
AU in which Laios never got to meet his sister again, putting his life on a whole other path, a more desperate one. A military deserter with barely a coin to his name, Laios hitches a ride on a boat to one of the elven continents, where he learns about magical tattoos that binds one’s soul to a wolf’s, effectively making them artificial werewolves. Illegal magic be damned, this feels like the answer to… everything.
In the process, he learns about the existence of an illegal fighting ring in one of the elven cities, where beastmen gladiators gather. Freshly tattooed and without anywhere else to go to, Laios decides to head there, where he meets Lycion, an elf and artificial werewolf gladiator. If they first bond over a simple shared meal, by spending time together (sharing the same room in the barracks, maybe the same bed? gasp) they find that they have a lot in common, notably a shared distaste for the body they were born in, a dysphoria partially remedied by becoming a werewolf.
They bond :)
NB: I commissioned another piece, go take a look :D

Because that other post annoyed me, as poll posts are much different than other posts, polls consistently have higher engagement than the reblog/like ratio, plus the questions were too ambiguously written to draw conclusions
For the purpose of this poll, if you usually don't vote on random polls, I won't call you a liar if you do vote here

I
know that voting for the status quo sucks.
To say it "sucks" massively understates the exact amount of suffering that exists under the status quo, an amount that I acknowledge I am too privileged to ever fully grasp.
I cannot magically provide some viable third-party candidate just barely a month before the election. I cannot solve Israel/Palestine Conflict that has haunted the world for over 70 years. I am a 29-year old transgender woman working her way through her own mental illnesses, trauma, and an undergraduate degree. I was never going to be the one to solve anything here.
All I can tell you is that regardless of whether you vote or not, there will be a presidential election. It's going to be a shitshow, regardless. Whether you vote or not, there will be a different president in January. Voting for the status quo may not be directly in your interests.
We had four years of Trump and we are still trying to unfuck ourselves from that. The beginning of my antagonistic relationship with the government was protesting in the streets of DC under his administration. I've fled from the Metro PD. I've put on a change of clothes and slipped out the back door of a gay sports bar.
Fucking vote.
Fucking vote.
Fucking vote.
Honestly, I
I don't want to see this voter apathy shit anymore.
People are going to keep dying under any president. Any president can, and probably wil, be morally culpable for the deaths of innocent people, both in the country and abroad. Carter might be the last president we had that wasn't overtly a war criminal and we still had foreign civilians killed by U.S. military involvement under the Carter admin.
I'm torn between asking you to block me, or asking you to message me, if you're taking the route of voter apathy. I'll tell you right away, here and now, that I probably don't have a solution to whatever problem is keeping you from voting for Harris. I can't even solve my own problems right, tbh. The government isn't really here for me, either.
But there isn't going to be some sort of miraculous revolution that results in The Ending Where Everyone Lives. If there's a revolution, then supply chains will falter and children and the infirm will die of preventable diseases and infections and complications in hospitals that would have otherwise been able to easily deal with such things. That's what happens in a revolution. I'm after the long-term idea where Humanity as a species lives. I'm after the route where we don't have an ending, we keep going.
Fucking vote, because exactly one of the two leading presidential candidates believes climate change is real, and it is the single greatest threat to all life on earth. We have spent the past 250 years, not just playing God with the environment, but actively creating an ecological niche in which future generations of humanity must continue to play God with the environment, dragging it back to a healthy place drop by drop, inch by inch, a degree at a time.
Or, I mean, don't vote. Either way, we'll all die at some point. Perhaps some of us will be lucky enough to die standing by our principles.
Those lucky few will become soil one day, just like I will.
I am begging you on my hands and knees to fucking vote, though, because our options are The Status Quo vs. Worse. That's
That's it.
There is no door number three right now. Our system, our flawed and broken and imbalanced and unjust system, does not accommodate for a third door. Whether you vote or not, you will be dragged through either Door 1 or Door 2 with all of humanity, as we whirl through the cosmos upon our tiny little speck of dust. The only other legitimate option is to allow oneself to become trampled; to become soil early. I don't say legitimate to give this option legitimacy, but to make clear that again, there is no door three. Door three is a casket. A one-way bed.
I didn't vote in 2016, and I'm hoping that you'll vote for the status quo this time, because that's the route that gives me the best odds of having a long and healthy life to regret my failure through inaction.
Just please
Fucking vote.
Or again, if you're taking the apathy route, probably just save me the time of blocking you, because you're not going to magically pull a viable third-party candidate out of your pocket less than six weeks before the election.

I recently found some old sketches for my Kentucky-based fakemon project and decided to clean em up. These two lines are based on the state butterfly, the Viceroy, and its Müllerian mimic, the Monarch.
Both would be a simple bug/flying combo, but I think it'd be cool if they had abilities that played together when they're sent into double battles. Maybe something that increases evasion and defense when they're on the battlefield at the same time, or maybe something niche like a chance to poison opponents when hit with Lick or Bite.

Do you think Dick is Kory’s primary medical… assistant (??) as in he is the one who gives her her vaccine shots and get blood samples? Because of her Trauma of being test subject she canonically hates anything that reminds her of labs and such but she still need a medical record? She can’t be just immune to everything on earth and even if so there is a whole space out there (i assume she could be allergic to something at least), my point is she still need some kind of medical records with whatever information she is willing to give and what the team could learn from other Tamarians physiology, and I assume its Dick who is being her assigned medical assistant (doing the needle work, doing her X -rays and screening etc at least being in the same room or on the microphone maybe hold her hand in  dental appointments lol) like she probably have PTSD about being experimented on and i assume Dick didn’t just think they can avoid hospitals and medical care forever lol
Yk, Part of how Dick also helped Kory and it wasn’t just one way thing

im supposed to be doing my assignment and my research but that's not important (it is) because i want to talk about the divine tf.
unlike the animal tf where you need to get them through specific requirements (eating wolfshrooms or the bun in sam's cafe, fucking GH or eating grass in the underground farm etc.) divine tf just needs your purity.
and we know auriga and virgo are divine entities in the game, so is the angel and demon tf a gift from them? Like yay you kept your purity pure/you drained tf out of your purity! Here's some horns/halo for the effort!
In the gilded spear event there's some interesting scene if you have the demon/angel tf (i have not yet done the event with a fallen angel pc) where you get vague mentions of auriga and virgo. and when you're purging in the confessional there's a text that's really interesting and connects with auriga (since corruption is auriga's specialty) if you have demon tf.
The scene with demon tf:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The scene with angel tf:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In my assumption from this scenes alone, there's somewhat a kinship between the pc and the respective entity based on your divine tf.
Now that leaves me to question on why Ivory Wraith has some parts that only belongs to Auriga and Virgo. Tentacles are Auriga's specialty along with having antlers while Virgo has their six arms and wings.
IW has both, it can manifest tentacles or six arms on some encounters. But why? Idk beats me. But then again in the Schism event some of Virgo's feather landed on the Acolyte so that could be a reason.
The fact that stealing its necklace raises hard world corruption and freeing it's children from the compound decreases soft world corruption tells me that IW isn't evil or a corruption like Auriga is.
IW just exists. It exists and carries memories of countless other sacrifices that happened because of Auriga.

The biggest gripe I have with research is that most papers are hidden over a paywall, but we are supposed to know what work has been done and not repeat it (obv). Except, how tf am I do something new if I don't even have any means of knowing what others have done? I know there are a lot of ways to get the papers pirated but man I just want to legally be able to read the papers which are out, you know?
If there is someone who's been in research for a longer time, if you know the reason for all these paywalls or a way around this issue, please enlighten us. This is my official plea for help.

"[Elizabeth Woodville's] piety as queen seems to have been broadly conventional for a fifteenth-century royal, encompassing pilgrimages, membership of various fraternities, a particular devotion to her name saint, notable generosity to the Carthusians, and the foundation of a chantry at Westminster after her son was born there. ['On other occasions she supported planned religious foundations in London, […] made generous gifts to Eton College, and petitioned the pope to extend the circumstances in which indulgences could be acquired by observing the feast of the Visitation']. One possible indicator of a more personal, and more sophisticated, thread in her piety is a book of Hours of the Guardian Angel which Sutton and Visser-Fuchs have argued was commissioned for her, very possibly at her request."
-J.L. Laynesmith, "Elizabeth Woodville: The Knight's Widow", Later Plantagenet and Wars of the Roses Consorts: Power, Influence, Dynasty
#historicwomendaily#elizabeth woodville#my post#friendly reminder that there's nothing indicating that Elizabeth was exceptionally pious or that her piety was 'beyond purely conventional'#(something first claimed by Anne Crawford who simultaneously claimed that Elizabeth was 'grasping and totally lacking in scruple' so...)#EW's piety as queen may have stood out compared to former 15th century predecessors and definitely stood out compared to her husband#but her actions in themselves were not especially novel or 'beyond normal' and by themselves don't indicate unusual piety on her part#As Laynesmith's more recent research observes they seem to have been 'broadly conventional'#A conclusion arrived at Derek Neal as well who also points out that in general queens and elite noblewomen simply had wider means#of 'visible material expression of [their] personal devotion' - and also emphasizes how we should look at their wider circumstances#to understand their actions (eg: the death of Elizabeth's son George in 1479 as a motivating factor)#It's nice that we know a bit about Elizabeth's more personal piety - for eg she seems to have developed an attachment to Westminster Abbey#It's possible her (outward) piety increased across her queenship - she undertook most of her religious projects in later years#But again - none of them indicate the *level* of her piety (ie: they don't indicate that she was beyond conventionally pious)#By 1475 it seems that contemporaries identified Cecily Neville as the most personally devout from the Yorkist family#(though Elizabeth and even Cecily's sons were far greater patrons)#I think people also assume this because of her retirement to Westminster post 1485#which doesn't work because 1) we don't actually know when she retired? as Laynesmith says there is no actual evidence for the traditional#date of 12 February 1487#2) she had very secular reasons for retiring (grief over the death of her children? her lack of dower lands or estates which most other#widows had? her options were very limited; choosing to reside in the abbey is not particularly surprising. it's a massive and unneeded jump#to claim that it was motivated solely by piety (especially because it wasn't a complete 'retirement' in the way people assume it was)#I think historians have a habit of using her piety as a GOTCHA!' point against her vilification - which is a flawed and stupid argument#Elizabeth could be the most pious individual in the world and still be the pantomime villain Ricardians/Yorkists claim she was#They're not mutually exclusive; this line of thinking is useless#I think this also stems from the fact that we simply know very little about Elizabeth as an individual (ie: her hobbies/interests)#certainly far less than we do for other prominent women Margaret of Anjou; Elizabeth of York;; Cecily Neville or Margaret Beaufort#and I think rather than emphasizing that gap of knowledge her historians merely try to fill it up with 'she was pious!'#which is ... an incredibly lackluster take. I think it's better to just acknowledge that we don't know much about this historical figure#ie: I do wish that her piety and patronage was emphasized more yes. but it shouldn't flip too far to the other side either.

I couldn’t help but make this post after reading one of my favorite tea posts. Because I realized we all have different concepts of how to “normally” do things, like brew tea.
Feel free to also add where you’re from in the tags, if you wish .
(Post is not my own but I couldn’t get the post with all the responses without linking to my own reblog):

i've had food allergies my entire life and i'm curious how many other people do, and what levels of severity they have. i would define "serious" as life-threatening, but if you think yours counts for another reason, you know yourself better than i do. (also, for the purposes of this poll, please only count physical intolerances, not disliking a food, even if it is for a neurodivergent reason). so:
