Had this incredibly bizarre dream that I hope becomes a series because... wow. But the most striking part was the 'main character' of it joined this filmed household and was required to play a video game to assess their personality for the project and they died almost immediately (in a brutal fashion)
And they turned to the group to say "what was the reason behind the scream ?"
No one screamed.
#mel talks dreams#the end of the game had a three card assessment that were food items so they could blend it into a smoothie#and one was banana another strawberry and last was broccoli#they called it the Fuzzkin#fuzzkin I hope you return#dreams are the original weird fiction

if every fruit and every vegetable got in a fight, which side would win, and who would be the last man standing?
GHKSGHKSGHKS OKAY OKAY IM GONNA THINK ABOUT THIS HOLD ON i cant think of every one so we r doing 8v8 that seems like a reasonable number also this is more me killing them myself based off of my opinions. they r fighting bcs im playing with them like dolls :3 *insert a rant about vegetables being a culinary category* okay lets go THE TEAMS
FRUIT - Apple, Orange, Banana, Pear, Blueberry, Grape, Strawberry, Raspberry, Vegetables - Carrot, Onion, Cucumber, Lettuce, Potato, Garlic, Broccoli and Tomato. Tomatoes are yes, biologically fruits they grow like fruits and are fruit so why arent they in fruit? bcs there are TWO types of fruit, biological fruit and culinary fruit. vegetables only have the culinary category, no biological one. so yes tomatos are fruits, they are usually grouped in with vegetables in culinary.
OKAY LETS START
FIRST BLOODS (eliminations)
-Tomatoes | Reason; I fucking hate them -Pears | I don't really think about them much? idk if ive ever eaten one. ive also literally never heard someone go 'oh yeah my fav fruit is a pear!' so idk much about them -Cucumbers | taste like water but. wrong. i like pickles more -Grapes | okok i like them but. very inconsistent quality some very squish some nice and crunchy (the good kind)
OKAY NOW THEY GET PIT AGAINST EACH OTHER BY A RANDOM GENERATOR (im having too much fun with this can u tell)
APPLE V POTATO
two major competitors,,,,, apple is like. the fruit of all time. like i think of fruit and its an apple. but on the other hand potato has so much variety so many things you can do to it and. its so tasty. im gonna have to declare potato the winner
RASPBERRY V BROCCOLI
honestly this ones down to preference i think. and this whole thing is based on MINE so hah! both are good but broccoli texture is not fun for me and. i love raspberry so much. it wins <3
ORANGE V LETTUCE
good fruit versus water leaf. lettuce is good for salad n sandwhich but orange actually tasty by itself so orange wins
BLUEBERRY V GARLIC
garlic.
STRAWBERRY V CARROT
again two MAJOR ones,,,,, carrot is absolutely such a vegetable but i love strawberries so much,,,,,, im gonna give it to carrot for this round though because they do not mold in my fridge this fast!!!!
BANANA V ONION
mmmmm i love onion. so tasty so texture can go in so many things. and i fuckin hate bananas they can go die one of my worst sensory things i hate them so onion win :3
REMAINING COMPETITORS: Potato, Raspberry, Orange, Garlic, Carrot, Onion
uhh i need another competition hold on-
ok so i pulled up one of those treadmill videos where they see what will roll off them last- the first two to roll off will be eliminated (im assigning them the fruits n veggies)
ALRIGHT IM BACK the two killed were carrot (represented by an apple) and onion (represented by onion). may they rest in peace
alright now that we have 4 remaining im gonna. think of something else hold on
okay im making the art fight discord off topic section vote!!
DATA IS IN! we got a whole 2 votes!!! meaning our 2 finalists are Potato and Raspberry!!!! im shocked too that its not garlic,,,, it can win in my heart
THE FINALE
THE TWO GO HEAD TO HEAD IN HAND TO HAND COMBAT, FIGHTING TO THEIR DEATHS. WHO KNOWS WHO WILL MAKE IT OUT ALIVE??? MAYBE THEYLL BOTH DIE RIGHT HERE RIGHT-
WE HAVE A WINNER!!!!
🎉
CONGRATULATIONS POTATO, OUR REIGNING CHAMPION!!!!
this was vv silly thank u for sending me this
#important#<-this is an extremely important post i think (silly)#ask box shenanigans :3#save for later#txt post

Well, I’m gay myself, and I’m with them forever, and I will always support people of different sexualities and gender identities. But I don’t really identify with the LGBT+ movement because I’m neiother proud nor ashamed of who I am. Sometimes ythings just happen, it’s not like my orientation was a choice.
Do you feel free?
I do. Even my disorders don’t restrict me; I always come back to the game.
Are you free?
I live in a free country, so yeah, I am. I can express myself freely.
When was the last time you saw a rainbow?
Two months ago, I think. But it was short and faint.
Have you ever seen a double rainbow?
Yeah, I have. But it’s been years ago.
Have you ever seen a full rainbow?
Yes, but it’s been more than a few years.
And lastly... What's your best friend's favorite color?
Red, definitely. And black to wear.
What colors do you like?
Except my favourite ones, I like red and purple, too. And blue.
What colors do you dislike?
Brown, and I’m not a big fan of yellow and orange.

I’m wearing a hoodie, as usual.
What colors look good on you?
I couldn’t care less.
What colors don't you look good in?
I couldn’t care less either.
What color was your senior prom dress?
I know everything’s acceptable these days and I’m tolerant and accepting as well, but I cazn’t see myself wearing a dress as a guy.

i just read your older sister h/cs.. its amazing and i know you have a lot on your plate right now but can i request for more detailed smut and corruption between bokuto and the older sister s/o? really sorry for requesting this birdie-chan.
First off don’t be sorry lol I’m keeping requests open since they come in but it’s not overwhelming, yknow? And the fics are gonna take some time but I finally got two of the fic storylines down so those should be in production soon. If I suddenly get 20 requests overnight for different characters or something, then I’ll close requests so I can catch up but I doubt that tbh
Mission: Corrupting Onee-San ! ; Bokuto
The news hit you like a truck, a punch in the gut as the nurse on the other line apologizes for your loss. With the grieving process of your late husband almost over, it’s horrible that your daughter was the next one to go. How horrible is it for a mother to live longer than her own child? You didn’t even know you were hunched over on your kitchen floor until Kōtarō had to pick you up. He smelled like car fuel, a sickening scent after the news. He had been only working on your car, though, after the accident.
“Nee-san, what happened?” His voice is frantic and worried, large hands cupping your face while you heave.
“She’s gone,” you manage out, between sobs and heaves, another loud wail coming from you as your face plunged into Kōtarō’s chest. Whispered apologies can’t do much when your sobs and muddled words drown out his own. He knows you’re in pain, he knows you miss your daughter, but maybe this is for the best. Maybe it’s best that you end up restarting your life, after all this pain and suffering. When that small sentence passes your lips, the wish to go back in time, wishing for your son and daughter and husband back, Kōtarō knows he can’t give you exactly what you want. Time travel doesn’t exist.
But he does.
You weigh nothing to him, smelling like strawberries and bananas, the scent of your shampoo. Easily he holds you close to his chest, gentle whispers and soothing words as you hiccup and sob, the worst of your sobbing over. It’s a one track mind with him, walking into the bedroom and setting you down on the bed. There’s no need to shut and lock the door, his only focus is on you and catering to your needs. You want a daughter so badly, he’ll gladly give you one. He already fills in where your late husband left, working outside and making you breakfast. He’s only in college, but you need him. He’ll become a star athlete and give you a better life than your husband, that’s his goal.
It encourages him, his kisses as he peppers your neck, shushing you as his hands wander along your sides, rubbing circles before they slide under your shirt. A sweater that hasn’t been washed in a week, he should take the time to strip you down, but now isn’t the time for that. Your fists weekly push at his chest, but he doesn’t stop. He can’t be deterred in his tasks of trying to make you feel better. This is just another thing your husband did that he can take over. Kōtarō knows he’s probably better at it, anyways. It’s just him helping you out.
“Kō-chan, what— what are you doing?” You hiccup out, weak pushing against him. It’s like trying to move a brick wall, he’s built so much muscle and strength since the last time you saw him. He’s not the little brother you used to play on the swings with or feed broccoli to, he’s grown into a fine young man. It’d be something to look at and smile about, but now it’s put you in a position where control is far from grasp. He doesn’t stop, though. He continues to have his lips attached to your neck, tongue flicking against your hot skin as he trails down to your collarbone. “This is—”
“I’m taking care of you. Isn’t that what good husbands do?” He murmurs, hands pressing your stomach under the cotton fabric. He can’t wait until you’re heavy and pregnant with his child. It’s too easy for him, easily sliding off the sweatpants you had been wearing all week, letting him see the white panties underneath. You didn’t have the energy to push him off of you, could barely even comprehend the actions unfolding before you. Kōtarō has his shirt off, exposing his muscles covered with a thin layer of sweat as his arms flexed, unbuttoning his jeans and rubbing the growing bulge in his boxers. He’s been waiting for this moment, finally able to have you back in his arms and all his, no child or husband in his way. You’re no longer crying, but your eyes are still red as you sniffle, weakly attempting to cover yourself and close your legs. There’s no room for that, he clicks his tongue and shakes his head.
Prying your legs apart is too easy, no strength behind your actions. He’s much too large and much too strong for you, covering your body with his own as he finally has his cock free, pink and big, twitching as he lines himself up. He may not have as much experience as you, but he’s going to make your experience with him the best you’ve ever had. “Kō, I don’t think-”
“You don’t need to think, nee-san. Let me take care of you,” his nose brushes against your own, a romantic gesture as he sinks into you. A silent scream is ripped from your throat, head thrown back as he pushes past your walls. It’s a tight fit, and you don’t have much slick going for you, forcing Kōtarō to force his way in. It burns, it hurts, the stretch of him, easily bigger and thicker than your late husband, the heaviness of his cock making you feel so full. “I’m gonna give you a baby, nee-san,”
“Kōtarō, no,” you sternly say, as sternly as you can. It doesn’t stop him, doesn’t make him rethink, no it just makes him want you more. You’re so tight and warm, he never wants to leave your pretty pussy. He understands why you had two kids now, your husband probably just loved to fuck you into the mattress. Now, it’s his turn.
You can’t even say anything to try to get him to stop, not when one leg is over his shoulder as he pistons his cock into you. It stings as his mushroom tip rubs against your sensitive walls, but a bit of slick starts to form as you find yourself hurling towards an orgasm so quickly. Hiccups and sobs come from you, Kōtarō leaning over to kiss you as your back arches, the position change having him drilling into your sweetest spot. Your vision goes black, eyes rolling as you cream on his cock and he groans, arms wounding around your frame. He’s close to his own release, but he wants you to come one more time. Orgasms make people feel better, right? They make him feel better. You just need one more.
It comes quicker than he anticipated, your nails digging into his toned biceps as he licks your lower lip, covering your mouth with his as you cream on his cock and scream into his mouth. He stills himself, weak hip thrusts as he empties a hefty load into your womb, plugging you up with his cock. Spurts of his cum ooze out as he removes his arms from you, sitting back as his cock stays inside you. He’s still hard and rearing to go, but a look at your face has him coddling you once more, peppering your face with kisses as your walls clench around him. You keep saying you don’t want this, but you’re in this situation because you wanted this. You want another child and your Kō-chan is going to make that happen.
He just needs to make sure, he tells himself as he ruts his hips against your pelvis.

Favorite foods/ deserts? To eat or make.
Food food food food food
I love. Mexican style. A burrito bowl or taco salad loaded with stuff is my fave but tbh if you just gave me meat bean and cheese I’d be happy too. Cheap American version like Taco Bell, on the occasion I find a more ”authentic” restaurant that too, homemade, literally just throw me something in this general area of food I omnomnom
And in the same vein, guacamole is amazing, I’ll eat it once its own with chips. I can, make it myself and I’ve been told I make it pretty well, but it’s not one of my favorite things to make. There’s a lot of chopping and peeling and onions making my eyes burn and avocado getting everywhere
.
Pasta is another general category I love.Mac and cheese, Alfredo with broccoli and/or chicken or plain, spaghetti, ravioli, tortellini..lHOO there’s a lot of pastas you could put in front of me and I’d happily eat it. And which one I prefer just changes! Although Alfredo, spanghetti, and Mac and cheese are ones I make at home more often since other members of my family like those. So if I’m put somewhere I’m more likely to get something different.
Pasta is one of those foods that isn’t necessarily fun to make but it is nice and easy on days I don’t want to do anything involved. Sometimes when the pasta is done I pull out a hot noodle and throw it at the wall and see long it sticks >:3
.
Pizzaaaa. I usually like classic cheese and pepperoni, but I like cheese too, and more rarely I’ll eat pizza with olives, tomato, mushrooms, and/or spinach! I’ve never had it with pineapple but I’m willing to try it. Pepperoni and sometimes salami are actually the only meats I like on pizza, ham, sausage, anchovies and all that just have a weird texture with everything else imo. And another important thing. Extra. Sauce.
Pizza is a food I would say is one of my faves to make! Sometimes I put the toppings on English muffins, sometimes I make a crust. It’s not too hard to put toppings on and it’s kinda fun to do so, plus I can eat some of it >:3. When I’m at home, my dog likes to get bites of cheese and pepperoni too! .
Can smoothies count? I think they’re fairly easy to make and they’re yummy. This is another food you could give me just about any and I’ll drink it, bc smoothies are usually fruity and there’s not a lot of fruit I’ll turn down. My personal favorite is peanut butter and banana, but ma go smoothies are really good too. .
OOF cheesecake. I dont get to have it often bc there’s not a lot of places that have it, or it’s expensive, and I’m like the one big cheesecake fan in the family lol. I haven’t made one myself, actually! I think it’s not terribly hard though, so now that I’m thinking of it I want to try making one. I like plain cheesecake with chocolate on top (chocolate flavored cheesecake doesn’t seem to taste as much like chocolate as compared to chocolate on top), or plain with strawberry or raspberry on top. Also, every type of cheesecake that I’ve tried from the Cheesecake Factory has been delicious!
.
Wait omg. Deviled eggs. If I didn’t have to respect that the rest of the family want to eat them too, and save room for other foods I want, I would eat probably all of them at holiday dinners. They’re particularly special fro me bc I only have them on holidays. But they’re really good and I usually eat a couple. .
Ice cream is a favorite dessert of mine, but it’s not a thing I’ve ever made myself. My favorite flavors are chocolate or chocolate with stuff in it, but I also like vanilla with stuff in it, or some flavors use caramel, cheesecake, or sweet cream as a base flavor and it’s good. For stuff mixed in, I like fudge swirl, peanut butter swirl, caramel swirl, cookie pieces, cookie dough, and chocolate pieces. Anything chocolatey that’s easy to chew! I’m not so much a fan of fruit flavored pieces, nuts, pretzels, anything else hard or chewy, or fruit or coffee flavored ice creams. .
I like making desserts like cookies brownies, muffins, and cupcakes! I think mixing all the ingredients together is fun! And tasting the batter. Cakes are fun too…it’s just that I always worry too much that my icing is crappy looking
.
Ive also found recently that I like making rice and vegetables. Over the last year I’ve tried some different veggie and seasoning combos just to see what’s good, and I think that’s part of what makes it fun.
#foods I do NOT like making: friend eggs I always overcook or undercook them and it stresses me#ouija board

Healthy Snacks For Weight Loss And Health
Dieting and exercise have been a major trend for the last three decades although past years have focused on fast weight loss through diet pills and crash diets. However, over the last ten years, more and more people have began to understand that losing weight starts with a balanced diet of healthy snacks, which includes all food groups along with a regular exercise regiment. Fewer people are eliminating whole categories from their diets and focusing on eating the right foods for fat loss. Eating healthy snacks can be one of the most rewarding ways to lose weight while still being able to enjoy a large variety of foods.
Fruits are Nutrient-Packed Snacks for Weight Loss
Fruits are one of the few foods that provide one with a number of vitamins and minerals while tasting absolutely delicious at the same time. However, fruits should always be fresh or at the least frozen. Canned fruits are considered processed foods and may contain an excessive amount of preservatives, syrups, extra sugars, and other ingredients that create high calorie content that can offset the benefits of the fruit itself. Fresh fruits also have the advantage to be bagged and taken as a quick snack. For instance, oranges are healthy snacks for burning fat and can be cut days in advance and stored in a plastic baggy in the refrigerator. Apples, bananas and some other soft fruits may also be bagged although they should be sliced as close to time of eating as possible because of their tendency to darken. Fruits are a great addition to both hot and cold cereals as well and can make breakfast more filling. A quarter cup of strawberries or blueberries make a great addition to practically any breakfast cereal or even a bowl of oatmeal and are definitely healthy snacks for weight loss.
Oh Nuts! Another Great Snack for Burning Fat
Good snacks for losing weight include a variety of foods that contain protein of which nuts are a viable source. There are many nuts that are available in the local grocery store such as peanuts, pecans, cashews, Macadamia nuts, sunflower seeds, and many more. Nuts are perfect snacks for fat loss that are very convenient. For instance, before going to the gym, many people may eat a handful of peanuts for an added protein kick to help them through their workout. Even peanut butter is relatively healthy although too much peanut butter can lead to excess calories that take away from its benefits. One thing to remember about buying nuts is the sodium content. Excess sodium can lead to a number of health problems and contribute to weight gain in some cases. Nuts that are dry roasted with no salt are the best healthy snacks for weight loss although now many companies have low salt or "lightly salted" available as well. Nuts can be easily measured for the proper serving size and can be bagged up to carry in pocket books and lunch boxes for that quick snack that packs a punch.
For Healthy Snacking To Lose Weight, Include Vegetables
Most everyone has been told at some point in his or her life to eat all of their vegetables. This rings true for practically every lifestyle, and vegetables are very healthy snacks for weight loss. Some vegetables, like broccoli and celery, even contribute to weight loss while being eaten. It has been said that these two vegetables require more calories to chew and digest than they produce within the body. However, like fruits, vegetables should be fresh or at least frozen. Fresh vegetables, such as broccoli, carrots, celery, and even sliced peppers are very convenient healthy snacks for weight loss although sometimes people may make mistakes when eating them. Many people eat dressings on their vegetables. Many of these dressings, particularly store-bought creamy dressings, have large amounts of fat, calories, high fructose corn syrup, and other chemicals that are very undesirable for a proper diet. Fresh vegetables are best eaten without creamy dressings and most can be pre-cut and bagged for an easy snack on the go. Makes these foods one of many go to healthy snacks for weight loss.
Yogurt and Cheeses
It is a common misconception that all cheeses are dairy products loaded with fats, which make them unhealthy. However, that is not necessarily the case, and they can actually be great snacks for your fat loss that are quite tasty. Cheeses such as ricotta, cottage, and yogurt all contain healthy saturated fats that are necessary for proper metabolic function. There are many varieties of yogurt to choose from that are healthy snacks for weight loss such as regular yogurt, strawberry, blueberry, and other flavored yogurt. Yogurt can also be combined with strawberries, blueberries, or bananas to make smoothies, which are especially healthy snacks for weight loss that provide essential vitamins and nutrients that also promote health and healing. Cottage or ricotta cheese is a great addition to any salad and can even replace unhealthy store-bought salad dressings.
A Time for Tea
Instead of potato chips on the couch, many people are beginning to enjoy teas for healthy snacks for weight loss, especially as a midday snack. There are many teas that are considered healthy snacks for weight loss such as oolong, green, and white teas. These teas can be an excellent snack during their morning or afternoon break. Green and white teas are an excellent source of antioxidants, which contributes to optimal blood flow and a reduction in stress. Stress causes the body to store carbohydrates and proteins, which lead to the build up of fats in the body. Tea is excellent for burning fat and provides the body energy and cardiac benefits as well olive snack.
Spice Up Your Snack Life
While most people hail the benefits of healthy snacks for weight loss, many people don't know that there are spices that may add zest to their healthy snacks for weight loss as well. For instance, cinnamon is a spice enjoyed by hundreds of millions of people across the world. Cinnamon can be a great addition to fresh fruit in a bowl of cereal. However, cinnamon can be a healthy snack for weight loss as well because it acts as a metabolic stimulant within the body. This spice makes other healthy snacks for weight loss even better. Make healthy snacks for weight loss a little bit tastier with the addition of one of the many metabolic spices available at the local grocery store.
Conclusion
With so many healthy snacks for weight loss to choose from, one can enjoy a variety of foods without sacrificing one particular group over another. While some healthy snacks for weight loss may be simply low in fats, such as yogurt and cheeses, some foods may directly benefit other total health as well such as the antioxidants in teas. By creating a balanced meal plan along with healthy snacks for weight loss, people can enjoy a healthy lifestyle that contributes to a longer life.

My Cheap & Relatively Healthy Grocery List for College Students
Context: I had been used to eating fast food so much because it was cheap that when I went to the doctors' they said I had high glucose content. That wasnt good. So I started eating healthier. Anyway let's skip the BS and get straight into it:
Ramen: the OG cheap food. I personally don't own ramen bc I dont like it that much, but if you want to save money this is the meal, at least add an egg or some veggies to make it healthier.
Frozen Veggies: anywhere from 50 cents to a dollar or two a bag. Can easily be kept in your freezer (if you have one) for months
Mac n' cheese: my all-time favorite. Of course, it might not be healthy for everyone to eat pasta all the time, but I do it anyway. Add some real cheese and spices for taste or chicken and veggies in it / on the side.
Other Pasta boxes (Pasta Roni, Velveeta, Hamburger Helper, etc.): basically as cheap or almost as cheap as Kraft macaroni, but maybe you arent a fan of mac n cheese.
Soup (Soup!!): Cambell's Tomato soup is often $1 a can. I like to eat mine with grilled cheese. Thats a whole ass meal. But of course you can get other soups just as cheap. Basically, any canned foods.
Canned foods & veggies: this one goes without saying. Although, the better options are sometimes $2 to $3 the same can be said for frozen veggies, but just heat these up and cook them in fried rice or just add butter and eat them aside a nice entré
Chunk light tuna: speaking of canned foods, canned tuna is soooo cheap and is a great option (if you even like tuna). Dont actually get the "pack tuna" for $1 a pack unless you want to keep it in your bag bc canned tuna is around 60 cents a can. Mix it with Miracle Whip (or mayo) and spread it over break for a good sammich.
Grilled cheese (or cheese toastie if you arent American I think??): similar to previous options, youre getting your cheese and your butter and your bread. Not as healthy as other options but way better than fast food calories.
Quesadillas: similar to grilled cheese, except spICY. My brother only eats these and he has no meal plan. I do it now too. Honestly, adding up tortillas, cheese dip, shredded cheese, & chicken is kind of costly but worth it. Also cooking chicken is annoying bc I dont have time for that. But. Yknow. A great option.
Pillsbury Crescents: a little costly, about $2+ per tube, but still fookin delicious. Also imma be real: actually havent checked the nutrition label to see if these are actually healthy. But these are sO useful. Make them by themselves for breakfast (with jam, eggs, or alone) or use the dough for other recipes. I use these with Manwich sauce, cheese, and ground beef for snacks :)
Manwiches: manwich sauce cans are $1 and although they have some sugar, its not nearly as bad as fast food. Just cook up some ground beef to go with it & maybe add cheese, sliced bread, or hamburger buns
PB&J: Another OG. I could never get tired of these. You just gotta make sure you have soft bread and the pb&j and youre good to go. Although..like.. some people apparently like theirs toasted or with different jams (I like strawberry).
Eggs!!!! : Just keep these in your fridge. Just do it. You never know when youre going to run out of food. Boiled? Scrambled? Fried? Soft boiled? With ramen? Omelet? In fried rice? Egg sandwich??? Eat them with bread, eat them with toast, eat them as a breakfast sandwich, scramble them with cheese, the list goes on. If you dont eat them often, get a smaller carton, but always have eggs! Also, for baking.
Rice, or fried rice: If you like rice, have been cooking rice for a long time, and can actually make it without burning, make sure you have rice. If you like rice but have never actually made it yourself, it takes trial and error in a pot. Or just invest in a rice cooker. Additionally, fried rice is not that difficult to learn & it fits the bill for healthy bc you can add unlimited veggies and meats. Im not here to educated you but the more ingredients, the better, is how i see it.
Fresh Food:
Fruit: I literally have "an apple a day" for breakfast. It's just good for you. Keep them in your fridge to keep them fresh. Keep one in your bag in case you get hungry. Bananas? Awesome! Use them in smoothies or a milkshake or eat them with your cereal or even with peanut butter. Possibilities are endless with fruit. Just make sure they dont spoil. Apples are OG bc they dont spoil as easily.
Vegetables: Make sure to only periodically get them so that they dont go to waste. Make some broccoli with butter & eat it alongside pasta. Or asparagus. Anything you want. Just make sure to have some with your meals sometimes. Greens are good. Additionally, carrots can get addicting if yoh eat them with ranch. The plus side is they are filling. If you have a tendency to want to munch on something: carrots.
Deli Meat / Sandwich Options: I personally dont make deli sandwiches because ham (as well as roast beef or turkey) can be expensive and then wanting to add lettuce and tomato to a sandwich sounds amazing but I'm scared they will spoil. Dont let me stop you though! Sandwiches are amazing.
Meat: you dont want to be cooking meat all the time bc it can get expensive, but the basics I always get are ground beef and chicken. I prefer "boneless skinless chicken thigh fillets" but you would need to cut off the fat. You could always get rotisserie if you arent feeling to for cooking. Also, if you're feeling expensive one week, salmon is just sooo good. I ate it with asparagus and seasoned with lemon. Delicious.
Snack / Dessert Options:
(I personally don't keep snacks or dessert in my home very often bc you dont want to binge eat. But here is what I have)
Peanut butter: classic, filling, can be potentially bad if you eat a shite ton
Nuts: peanuts, almonds, cashews, and especially pecans
Cookies: make your own, a lot of simple cookie recipes exist and it's a lot easier than you think. Baking essentials like flour, sugar, milk, and eggs are not that expensive to keep around in an apartment kitchen. Difficulties may be vanilla extract (the avg student doesnt have this lying around) a baking sheet, a big bowl, and possible a whisk. Store bought cookie dough isnt too bad either.
Box-cakes / box-brownies: simple and easy. Takes a few eggs sometimes and some oil, milk or water. The same goes for pancake mix. Honestly, I had an out-of-country roommate and he had never heard of boxed cake mix or brownie mix. They always made from scratch where he lived.
Low-calorie ice cream: okay ice cream can be pretty expensive and filled w/ added sugars. I used to eat this strawberry icecream sweetened with stevia and it was SO delicious, but I couldnt find that at my grocery store. Other options are "low-calorie" ice cream or "no added sugars" ice cream. I have one of these and the thing abt it is that its just the right amount of sugar to taste like ice cream and the neat thing is that you dont feel like binging it bc it doesnt have addicting added sugars.
Milkshakes / smoothies: this is a tough one bc me and most other students dont own a blender or juicer. I personally get my smoothies from a local smoothie place that only uses fresh fruit and then I ask not to add the natural sugars bc it is sweet enough with the fruit. Natural smoothies are delicious & I find that you can kind of make then if u freeze your fruits and blend w a fork. "Handmade" milkshakes are actually super easy w this method.
Yogurt: just...mmm.
"Healthy" snack food section, often called the gluten-free aisle: im not too experienced with this and im sure they have added sugars too but what I do know is I tried these gluten free oreos once and they were delicious
Fruits: I mentioned earlier but apples are great snacks
Veggies: also like I said earlier, carrots are great snacks. Not exactly a veggie but possibly potatoes for a meal or snack.
Granola Bars: for when youre too lazy to keep up with fruit and if fruit will spoil, granola bars (they healthy kind, not the chewy sugary kind) are so good to have in your pantry or keep in your backpack for a snack (and to keep you from on campus temptations). Also I used Nature Valley ones instead of cereal. They actually dissolve and are delicious with milk, since some cereals are so sugary.
Since my last college tips post got some notes I figured I'd keep writing these advice posts. For reference, I am hoping to become an RA next year at my college, so I'm not just speaking out of my ass. I generally have experience at college thus far and want to help students.

What I’m Prepping This Week: March 25-29
so, i still live at home and my mom does the cooking of the dinners for the family, but i always make sure that i have veggies to eat with the dinner and healthy options for lunches. this week, i’m having sandwiches for lunch (i can usually eat the same thing all week i’m that boring lol), so i’m not going to be prepping those, as they wouldn’t last as well prepped and are easy enough to make everyday. at the end of the post, i’ll include some foods that i have on hand this week that don’t have to be prepped.
#1: Maple Dijon Roasted Carrots (Vegan)
i love carrots. i love maple syrup. end of story. these are quick and easy carrots with a simple glaze that you just roast in the oven at 425 for 20-25 minutes, or until the carrots are tender. you can also mix it up and add some fresh herbs if you want, but i didn’t have any, so i just kept it simple with the glaze, which is flavorful enough on its own.
Ingredients: 1 lb carrots, 1/3 cup maple syrup, 2 tbsp mustard, 1 tsp minced garlic, 1 tsp olive oil, salt to taste (i used 2 pinches)
Nutrition Per Serving (makes 6 servings): Calories: 73 Total Fat 2g / Saturated Fat 0g / Cholesterol 0mg Sodium 97mg / Potassium 269mg Total Carbohydrate 18g / Dietary Fiber 2g / Sugars 12g / Protein 1g
#2: Zucchini Cheddar Tots
if you saw my meal prep post last week, you would also know i made these tots for the first time and fell in love with them. my dad and i really love them and couldn’t believe how good they were, so i’m making double the amount i made last week. you just grate the zucchini up, salt it, let it sit, and then drain out the moisture. then, mix all the ingredients together, form them into tots and cook them at 400 for 18 minutes on one side, then flip them and cook them on the other for another 8 minutes.
Ingredients: 4 medium zucchini, ¼ - ½ teaspoon salt (sprinkled on the zucchini after it’s grated to draw out moisture and then the zucchini is squeezed, so not all of the sodium is absorbed), ½ egg (about 1 ½ - 2 tablespoons beaten egg, depending on the size), 3 tablespoons Italian style bread crumbs, 3 tablespoons cheddar cheese (I used Sargento 4 State Blend), ½ teaspoon garlic powder, pepper to taste
Nutrition per Serving (makes 8 servings – about 56 tots total, 7 tots per serving) Calories: 121 cals Total Fat: 5g / Saturated Fat: 2g / Cholesterol: 58mg Sodium: 227mg / Potassium: 302mg Total Carbohydrate: 13g / Dietary Fiber: 2g / Sugars: 4g / Protein: 6g
#3 Roasted Parmesan Broccoli
Ingredients: 1 bunch of broccoli, 2 tablespoons olive oil, 1 tablespoon Italian style breadcrumbs, 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese, 3 cloves sliced garlic, pepper to taste, salt to taste (I used 2 pinches)
Nutrition per Serving (makes 4 servings): Calories: 114 Total Fat: 8g / Saturated Fat: 2g / Cholesterol: 3mg Sodium: 181mg / Potassium: 11mg Total Carbohydrate: 7g / Dietary Fiber: 2g / Sugars: 1g / Protein: 4g
#4: Homemade Mixed Nut Butter (Vegan)
i hate how much sugar and salt prepared peanut butter has and i have a shit ton of the kirkland mixed nuts packs that go bad by july so i need to eat them somehow! i decided to try homemade nut butter for the first time to use for toasts this week and it’s really easy. you can use any nuts you like, i just used mixed because that’s what i had. you can get raw nuts and roast them yourself but hello i like shortcuts. just blend in a food processor for about 10 minutes until butter forms. voila.
Ingredients: 3 Kirkland Mixed Nuts Snack Packs (1.6 oz each, 4.8 oz total -- 0.60 US cups, or just under 10 tablespoons of nuts), ½ tsp cinnamon
Nutrition per Serving (makes 6 servings, about 1 ½ tbsp per serving) Calories: 156 Total Fat: 13g / Saturated Fat: 2g / Cholesterol: 0mg Sodium: 50mg / Potassium: 149mg Total Carbohydrate: 7g / Dietary Fiber: 3g / Sugars: 1g / Protein: 4g
#5 Homemade Vegetable Broth (Vegan)
since i had the stalks of broccoli, i didn’t want to waste it, so i decided to make some vegetable stock this week. homemade stock lasts 3-4 days in the fridge and indefinitely in the freezer. it’s super simple, though the calories aren’t really exact here, but broth is super low cal in general.
Ingredients: 8 cups water, 2 broccoli stalks chopped, scraps of 4 zucchinis, scraps and peels of 1 lb of carrots, 1 cup chopped onion, 1 medium potato cut into chunks, 3 teaspoons minced garlic or 3 garlic cloves, 2 teaspoons black peppercorns, 1 teaspoon salt
Nutrition per Serving (makes 8 servings, 1 cup per serving): Calories: 70 Total Fat: 0g / Saturated Fat: 0g / Cholesterol: -- Sodium: 341mg Total Carbs: 16g / Dietary Fiber: 2g / Sugar: 4g / Protein: 2g
#6: Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies
having a sweet on hand during the week makes it easy to not reach for something overly sugary like a soda for a quick fix. i used this recipe and it turned out really great, but i had to bake mine for about 8-10 more minutes than the recipe called for, but i enjoy my oatmeal cookies crispy and chewy. the recipe says it makes 24, but it only made 23 for me!
Nutrition per Serving (per 23 cookies, as mine made 23): Calories: 115 Total Fat: 6g / Saturated Fat: 4g / Cholesterol: 20mg Sodium: 12mg / Potassium: 5mg Total Carbohydrate: 15g / Dietary Fiber: 1g / Sugars: 11g / Protein: 1g
#7: Rice (Vegan)
i like having a good starch on hand and this week i opted for rice made with 1/2 water, 1/2 homemade vegetable stock
Ingredients: 1 cup dry white rice, 1/2 cup homemade vegetable broth, 1/2 cup water
What I Have on Hand This Week
aka, things i have left over from last week’s buys or foods i keep stocked in the freezer that i’ll be using. i always like to keep stock of what i have on hand so i don’t forget about it and it goes bad because i hate wasting money! i love to buy bags of frozen veggies and fruits because they’re cheap or freeze any leftover uncooked fruits and veggies i have from the week before that i didn’t use.
while i always have frozen fruit and vegetables on hand, here’s what i’ll be using this week from my stock: Archer Farms Pineapple Peach Salsa - salsa lasts a long time so it’s great to have on hand in your fridge or cabinets. i like this salsa because it’s only a few bucks, taste delicious, and has only 115mg of sodium per 2 tbsp Simply Balanced Blue Corn & Flax Seed Chips - obviously flax seeds are super trendy now so eating them like this makes me feel like i’m getting a little something extra out of these chips. these are a target brand, which i love and it’s geared towards healthy foods. they’re affordable and have a resealable top so they last longer than regular chips. Frozen Cherries - absolutely LOVE cherries, they are my favorite fruit and they are super delicious frozen and make the best smoothies! i go through a packet of frozen cherries in about 2 weeks depending on how often i’m using them, but they last a long time in the freezer. Frozen Strawberries - the frozen fruit i almost always have on hand. you can buy giant bags for pretty cheap, but try to get off-brand, like the grocery store’s own brand of frozen fruits & veggies, they tend to be the cheapest and they are the same quality as name brand. Frozen Bananas - i never buy frozen bananas, i just freeze my bananas when they start to go brown! peeled bananas last about 2 months, whereas unpeeled last 3-4 months.

Week 3 Food Diary/Workout Log
And other random thoughts
Day 15 - May 15, 2019
No food. Went to a nearby park and did the trail 4 times. Not quite sure about the exact distance so I’m guessing 4 is a mile? I finished in 37 minutes. I jogged a portion of the way on the middle two laps and I didn’t die l, so that’s a good sign. I’d love to be able to be a runner as a part of my new lifestyle. Just have to build up to it. Oh and I nailed the gallon of water goal again. I still feel like I could use a little more hydration though. Maybe I’ll try drinking more tomorrow.
Day 16 - May 16, 2019
Today was a berry day. When I got home from work a little after 4 A.M. I had 6 oz of raspberries (90 calories). My throat and the roof of my mouth felt mildly raw, I’m guessing from going a little over 3 days without eating anything but the berries tasted delicious.
A little later after some rest I tried to enjoy some blackberries but it seemed like I could taste the pesticides used on them? I’m not entirely sure but they tasted weird and I felt compelled to spit them out. Also my appetite hadn’t picked up like I was assuming it would after having something to eat. Maybe it’ll take a little more time.
The blueberries were better but Josiah loves fruit and ate quite a bit himself. And by the time I brought out the strawberries, Jo, Imani, and Kamari decided they wanted some too. So I don’t know an exact calorie amount so far but the total calories for all the fruit is 411 calories. I’m honestly not sure if it’s a good idea to only eat fruit since it’ll probably spike my sugar levels so suddenly, which doesn’t seem safe. Tomorrow I’ll try cooked veggies and salad or something.
No workout. Not much water either come to think of it. But mama and my coworker Tempest said they noticed a difference in how my clothes fit. That was so uplifting!
Day 17 - May 17, 2019
Drank an apple cider vinegar concoction with lemon juice and honey before having some cucumber and tomato, sardines, and grapes.
Later I had broccoli and 2 corn on the cobb, preceded by the ACV. The corn really let me know that in all my self negligence my teeth were probably the most poorly maintained. I feel angry with myself for not caring to love and take care of me in so many ways. Anyway, I had a serving of buttered white rice and I liked it. There’s something soothing about white rice to me. I know it isn’t nutritious but sometimes food has a more soulful effect than that. I understand that it shouldn’t be an all the time indulgence if I want to stay clear headed and goal oriented though. And I know this because I stopped at a serving size, had some water, and went to chill before work.
Felt hungry before I left so I had another serving of white rice. It did the trick.
Day 18 - May 18, 2019
Snacked on berries since I ended up at work longer than usual. Had ACV then oatmeal and eggs. Didn’t finish the oatmeal.
Went to Cracker Barrel for the mother/daughter brunch but ended up not eating. I got a bit overwhelmed briefly. Sucks because I was hungry. I was sleepy too though which made me more irritable. Snacked on a few grapes and the hunger went away.
I ended up extremely hungry later because I waited too long to eat and had sardines, brown rice and quinoa. I wanted veggies but by waiting so late, I was encroaching on headache territory. That’s why I took the easy way out.
Day 19 - May 19, 2019
ACV, 2 eggs, and a banana.
Another banana.
Then things got wild. Went to a buffet and had a little cabbage, a few mushrooms, corn, a little broccoli, some fried rice and different kinds of sushi. Not sure what the calorie count was at all. The worst thing was the 13 ritz crackers. Ironically the taste was weird to me when I bit into the first one but I chose to override it on purpose and ate them for whatever reason. I think I’ll have 3 heavy veggie calorie counting days then perhaps 3 no eating. We will see.
Day 20 - May 20, 2019
It’s been a while since I’ve exercised. I’ll probably do that tomorrow though and not eat again today. Not to deprive myself but because I don’t feel compelled to or hungry so I don’t want to force myself. It’s probably because I ate until I was full yesterday. Hopefully I can exercise everyday the rest of the week. I’d really like that.
Day 21 - May 21, 2019
So the good news is I made it to the gym. I did 45 minutes on the treadmill on the hills setting at 3.0 speed on level 4. Burned 436 calories apparently. The bad news is my gym is closing and today was its last day being open. Also I’m sure I ate the calories I just burned because I had veggies, a banana, and an unmeasured amount of white rice. Preceded by ACV of course. I’m content, no rumbling belly, but not full. Still, though, I probably had a liiiittle too much so I’m going to keep the rest of the day veggiefied. As for the gym, ATC Fitness was suggested to me and it seems like a nice option for only $5 more but I think I’ll stick with the park and body weight exercises for a bit and see how that goes. We have a treadmill in the garage for rainy days I guess. Why do I like white rice so much though? There apparently isn’t any nutritional value and it honestly doesn’t taste like anything but I feel pacified and soothes when I eat it. Sigh.
Had more mixed veggies and white rice. Forgot my ACV.

Roh Suha: Survey
What is your character’s name? Nickname?
Birth name: Roh Suha English name: Susan Roh Nickname: Sue/Su
Does your character have any birthmarks? Scars? How did they get them?
No birthmarks. A few moles on body: back of right calf, left ankle, hip, ring finger. Only scars to note are a burn the size of a kidney bean on her knee, several mosquito bites on her legs, and scratch-marks on her left wrist from a minor fall she’d taken off the back of her second boyfriend’s bike.
Who are your character’s family? Are they close?
Father: Roh “Jimmy” Joohyuk, 74. Chairman and Co-founder of Oh+Roh Architects. Member of the Architectural Institue of Korea and the Korea Institute of Architects. Lecturer at University of Seoul. Warm persona despite tight-lipped face and towering disposition. Level-headed, with the comportment of a monk. Suha is very close to him and admires him most.
Mother: Heo Yeeun, 70. Recently retired anesthesiologist. Practical but emotions are in constant flux. Known to hold grudges. Spends most of her time these days hiking and photographing nature. Hopes to see one of her photos published in the National Geographic someday. Suha is fairly close to her, but they do butt heads from time to time.
Younger brother: Roh Suhyun, 32. Hair stylist. Unabashedly outspoken. Bright, feigns idiocy. In a long-term relationship with boyfriend from university—they had been fellow pre-law students (before Suhyun dropped out to pursue his current line of work). Scares Suha because his intuition is always fuckin’ spot-on. Suha is very close to him.
Describe your character’s closest friends/types of people they surround themselves by.
Suha keeps a large circle of friends around her at all times but the majority of her friendships are superficial/prolonged only by some lingering sense of obligation and because sometimes you need to get out of the house and see someone other than your whining kid or your husband’s dumb face. Regularly lunches with work friends (current coworkers, former employees who moved on to start their own practices, clients she clicked with) or classmates from SNU and Cornell. Suhyun is her best friend. Her neighbor, Heesun used to work alongside Sewon until she decided restaurant business was more her flavor please don’t mind the pun. Together they bitch about him with reckless abandon.
Where was your character born? Where have they lived? Where do they call home?
Born and raised in Seoul. Father was just starting to get a name for himself, mother had just started residency at the hospital. Home was a small apartment in a well-to-do neighborhood south of the Han. Six years later, family moved to a slightly larger unit just a few streets away, to accommodate for another little one. Family’s final move took place after Suha’s matriculation to SNU, to a single-story home in Yongsan-gu designed by Suha’s father.
Lived in NYC for a few years after graduating. Lived in Ithaca, New York, to finish a master’s program. Returned to Seoul and lived with family for another two years until engagement in 2010. Commissioned a fellow architect/former classmate to design a small house in Hannam-dong, where she stayed with husband until their separation in 2016. Currently living in a two-bedroom loft in Daechi-dong.
Where does your character go when they’re angry?
To the office. To the gym. Work and working out are the only two things that will take her mind off her boiling rage.
Does your character have any phobias?
Gets squeamish at the sight of blood.
Describe your character’s most meaningful past relationships.
Wouldn’t consider any of the relationships that came before her marriage meaningful—just necessary learning experiences.
Age 17: Her first boyfriend. Stupid attractive and otherwise completely vacuous and unable to hold a conversation. 3 months.
Age 20: A heartthrob (none of her friends agreed with her on that) from Busan. Stoic, short of words. A truly fear-inspiring face, with a protruding jaw, high cheekbones, and long monolids. Emotionally unavailable unless drunk, which was most of the time anyway so maybe in retrospect he was actually very emotionally present. Helped her mature. 2 years.
Age 23: A go-getter. Felt like she was constantly in competition with this guy. Unhealthy relationship, but did get her past her career slump/minor existentialism. 1 year.
Age 27: An Asian-American guy from Denver, Colorado. Enthusiastic, spontaneous, and fun-loving—but a total smart alec. 7 months.
What’s in your character’s refrigerator right now? On their bedroom floor? On their nightstand? In their bag/wallet? In their garbage can?
Fridge: Two tupperwares of banchan: kimchi and pan-fried potatoes with pepper. A carton of eggs. Leftover shrimp vindaloo from yesterday’s lunch. A drawer full of vegetables: cucumber, radish, spring onions, kale, broccoli, asparagus. A drawer full of fruits: strawberries, blueberries, apples, pears, grapes, melons. Whole milk plain yogurt. A carton of coconut water and two bottles of sparkling.
Bedroom floor: Hardwood floors and a pewter cowhide rug.
Nightstand: A lamp and a Byredo candle, Tree House scented.
Bag: iPhone, keys, wallet (+ daughter’s photo at eighteen months), two pens, a pack of mints, tissues, two hair ties, Sensai lipstick in #16, Garrett Leight sunglasses, ibuprofen, hand sanitizer, a fine-tooth comb, a few spare pads, her business card, a compact, hand lotion, band-aids, tweezers, and two flash drives.
Garbage: Banana peels and other miscellaneous food compost.
Look at your character’s feet. Describe what you see there. Does your character wear dress shoes, gym shoes, no shoes? Ratty socks, or slippers knit by grandma?
Manicured toes unpainted thank you very much under white socks under The Row white lace-up sneakers.
When your character thinks of their childhood kitchen, what smell do they associate with it?
Sesame oil comes to mind first and foremost—mom had always been liberal with it. Spice did not feature heavily in the diet as both her parents and brother had a low tolerance for it (much to the chagrin of Suha’s bolder palate), so chicken soup and other clear broth-based meals were customary.
Your character is doing intense spring cleaning. What is easy for them to throw out? What’s difficult for them to part with?
No sweat: most everything printed on A4; tabloid magazines; Christmas cards; anything that’s been relegated to the Reject portion of her closet; discolored/damaged cook and bakeware; museum pamphlets; airplane tickets; electronics; gifted perfumes
Second thoughts: cookbooks that she’s been meaning to flip through; kid’s crafts projects; baby shoes; high school mixtapes; polaroid photographs; dad’s handwritten letters, sent during her studies abroad; vintage hand-me-downs from mom
It’s Saturday at noon. What is your character doing?
Finishing up a morning bikram yoga class; picking up Saeeun from Sewon’s for some wholesome mother-daughter grocery shopping; fixing a simple lunch or cutting up fruit while Saeeun’s occupied with the iPad.
Your character is getting ready for a night out. Where are they going? What do they wear? Who will they be with?
Likely checking out the opening for a new shop or show—alone, now. Black’s the easiest and the first thing she’ll reach for until she remembers that Maison Margiela dress she’d plucked off the off-season rack last Sunday.
What is your character’s greatest regret(s)?
Not speaking up for a girl who’d been ostracized from her third grade class for having cleft lip. Not being able to provide a full family for Saeeun. Letting her marriage break down—not having done more.
Is there anything your character was/is currently obsessed with?
Speed-walking on a 5% incline on the treadmill; using her milk frother for perfect vanilla lattes; (dancing to) old bossa nova records.
What is the trait your character likes most about themselves? Likes least?
The good: integrity. Probably her guiding principle. The work relationships she fosters, the foundations for a new plan, the flatware on her table, the food she puts into her body, the specs on her car, the hairstyle she decides on for Saeeun. Everything requires a heavy dose of intentionality and integrity.
The bad: impatience. Her tendency towards perfectionism manifests in other, less productive (re: destructive) ways. Has a hard time keeping that fuse unlit.
Does your character have any medical problems?
Suffered some hair loss back in university thanks to a crippling case of clinical depression (lost another good chunk from the anxiety wrought by the hair loss itself), but the time’s passed and her follicles are in tip-top shape along with the rest of her health.
What kind of car does your character drive?
2015 BMW 3 Series Sedan in black.
What fragrance(s) does your character use?
Imaginary Authors’ Saint Julep (2017) is the current casual go-to—sweet mint, tangerine, bourbon, and sugar cube. Her classic pick is MEMO’s Moon Fever (2007)—bitter orange, lemon, sage, vetiver, leather, and tonka bean.
Does your character own any pets?
No. But her brother and his partner own a massive chow chow named Diablo, who also happens to be the sole reason she never visits. It’s essentially wild. How they manage to keep it on a leash is beyond fathoming.
Describe your character’s educational and work background.
Education: Public school, then foreign language school. Always kept to herself. Selfishly smart, why don’t you share, kids used to say. Finally took a peek out of the shell over the course of her short-lived first relationship. Crawled out of it for good and let all hell loose after getting The Acceptance Letter, i.e. the crowning achievement of her childhood. Nearly flunked out of SNU her first year but cleaned up her act and just barely made it to Dean’s List. Her reputation at work/shining referrals thereafter landed her a place in the graduate architecture program at Cornell.
Static work history: Oh+Roh (Seoul), Partner, 2014– Oh+Roh (Seoul), Senior Manager, 2012–2014 Oh+Roh (Seoul), Senior Architect, 2009–2012 Oh+Roh (Seoul), Architect, 2008–2009 Richard Meier & Partners (NYC), Architect, 2004–2006 Richard Meier & Partners (NYC), Architectural Intern, 2003–2004 Oh+Roh Architects (Seoul), Architectural Intern, 2002–2003
What did your character grow up dreaming of becoming?
An ice cream store owner. Then a rocket scientist.
How good of a singer is your character? Dancer?
She can carry a melody, but there’s no technical finesse to her delivery. Never had time to humor afternoon noraebang trips. Solid dancing skills. Took ballet as a kid and picked up dance again after grad school as a fitness hobby.
What is your character’s political affiliation?
Left-leaning. Voted for her girl Sim Sangjung in the 2017 election.
Which countries has your character been to?
For school: USA For work: USA, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Denmark, Switzerland, France, Brazil, Mexico For leisure: USA, Japan, China, Hong Kong, France, Germany, UK, Italy, Spain
What cuisine is your character’s favorite? Dish? Dessert?
Cuisine: Mexican, Indian, Sichuan Dish: Galbi-jjim Dessert: Mango sticky rice
Does your character have a sweet tooth?
Unfortunately. Has to keep herself in check.
What genre of film does your character enjoy?
Animation. Must have been Saeeun’s doing. Before her, it’d probably been crime or action or thrillers but she also could just be making this all up.
What are some of your character’s pet peeves?
People who interrupt (hypocrite), bad table manners, slow walkers (especially the ones that refuse to walk in a straight line so it becomes impossible to pass), “irregardless” and “I could care less”, humble bragging.
What are some of your character’s bad habits?
“I told you so”, never admitting that she’s wrong or apologizing when it’s too late, pulling out her phone at any given moment.

James is in the other room making me lemon cookies because he is the best boy. It’s been a good but long day. I slept okay last night. After James left I realized he left his phone here and I was very upset and didn’t know What to do. I eventually remebered his lockcode and texted him mom. But he eventually got home and mesaaged me on Facebook and it was all good. He would come get it from me after his hair cut I’m the morning. Woke up at 730 and felt okay. I laid around until almost 8. I got up and dressed. Felt cute. I packed my bag and left here with plenty of time. Enough time to stop for a donut and a banana. I got to the harbor and sat on the pier and had my breakfast. I helped out restoration lady tie a line on the pier and then went in the building. Since Libby wasn’t there yet I had lots of time to get things open up. Uncovered the helm and gun and bell. Checked the bilge. Libby came and showed me how to properly tie the lines that hold down the canvas cover on the ship. And it was a good morning. I was down at the desk for the morning. And it was a nice day. Not as slow as yesterday. I read a lot. James came around 11 for his phone. He looked so handsome with his new cut. He had to leave fairly quickly though. And then Sean came for lunch relief and I went to help him to the firing. I did sew for a bit. Talked to some people about my work. It was a good day. I left there right before 1230 And it was actually really fast getting to the museum. I was sort of worried about being very late but it all worked out. It was mostly very slow there. Kate was finishing up her shift and we chatted a little. And then she left and I was alone mostly. No one else was working. And so I listened to a podcast and had my lunch. Finally at 230 someone wanted a tour. 2 lovely men. Brothers from North Carolina. They had accents I think were Polish or German or something around there. They were great though and I had a blast giving them the tour. And they gave me a $10 tip after! Made me feel so smart and good. I’m glad they had fun. I wandered around for a little longer. Showed a few more people some things. And then I headed out. I went to McDonald’s and got free fries. Then went to dollar tree to pick up a few things. Very excited that there’s a dollar store I can easily get to. I got toothpaste and tissues and candy. Nail files which I desperately needed. I also wandered across the street and got my favorite juice, strawberry peach, which I can almost never find. I headed home after that. It was hot and James would be here soon. I got a shower. Felt better. Painted my nails. James came. I realized my furby had come!!! James named him Pongo and I’m very excited about them. We sat around while I gushed over robots. We eventually made it down to my studio. And we played with some of my robotic toys and I’m like super jazzed to start that project again. Gonna start looking for more robotics with intelligence at thrift stores. Keep your eyes out for me! It was also very cute watching James try to get MKO to dance and paint. And I had fun showing off my toys. I worked on my diorama. And eventually we came up to have dinner. I checked the mail and my new bunny case came. In very excited. James put together a bread bowl with broccoli soup. But then he didn’t feel so good so he didn’t have to much. And then he made cookies. Well the dough. It’s chilling right. Now but I’m very much looking forward to them. In hoping to ight be just keep being good and fun. And tomorrow will be another nice day. I’m leading the little kids tour and I’m nervous but excited. Wish me luck!

PATTY CORDOBA | While most people focus on social distancing, face coverings, hand washing, and even self-isolation to protect against the deadly coronavirus now ravaging the world, too few are paying enough attention to two other factors critically important to the risk of developing a Covid-19 infection and its potential severity.
Those factors are immunity, which should be boosted, and inflammation, which should be suppressed. Severe Covid-19 illness is accompanied by acute inflammation throughout the body, including the lungs, heart, and brain.
Older people have weaker immune defenses and are especially vulnerable to this disease and its potentially fatal consequences. With advancing age, the natural killer cells, a major immunological weapon, become less effective at destroying virus-infected cells. At the same time, inflammation in tissues throughout the body also increases with age. This allows the coronavirus to get into the body, bind to molecules in the nose and lungs, and wreak havoc.
People who are obese, have cancer or chronic health conditions like type 2 diabetes and heart conditions have higher inflammation in the body as well and hence, are more vulnerable to a severe outcome when infected with Covid.
Thankfully, there are manageable ways to enhance immunity and diminish inflammation. The basic lifestyle weapons, like diet and exercise, are available to everyone and can have a major impact on a person's immune system.
Skeletal muscles reinforce the immune system because their contractions produce small proteins called myokines that dampen inflammation and increase potency of natural killer cells. The more extensive or vigorous the exercise is, the lower the inflammation. Studies found that people who do fewer than 3,000 steps a day have much more inflammation than those who do 10,000 steps or more daily.
The other big health challenge during the coronavirus crisis is to consume a varied, nutrient-rich diet and keep calorie intake under control. As baking has become a popular pastime for many sheltering at home, overconsumption of sugar and refined flour can lead to increased weight, abdominal fat, and a weakened immune system. For this reason, it is advantageous to eating a wholesome, varied diet comprised of grassfed/organic meats, sustainable seafood, healthy fats, as well as vegetables and fruits.
The following will focus on plant foods and how their unique phytonutrients can support your immunity and tame inflammation in the body. Phytonutrients are chemical compounds produced by plants to help them resist fungi, bacteria, and virus infections. Unlike protein, fats, vitamins, and minerals, phytonutrients are not essential for keeping you alive, yet, they can help prevent disease and keep your body working in tip-top shape.
Since every plant food has its own unique benefits, it is helpful to organize them into different colors - white, yellow, orange, red, green, and blue-purple. Certain colors are particularly useful for supporting immunity and lowering inflammation. Nevertheless, it is beneficial for everyone, no matter whether you are a carnivore or a vegan, to incorporate different colors of plant foods in your diet.
Why Plant Foods Are So Remarkable
1. Plant foods benefit your gut microbiome
The average human gut microbiome is made up of about 40 trillion bacteria and consists of more than 1,000 microbial species, although most of the gut bacteria belong to just 30-40 species. The vast majority of these bacteria reside in the colon.
Numerous research studies have confirmed that the microbiome has an enormous impact on almost every aspect of health, including immunity, inflammation, gut, brain, skin, and heart health. It is important to maintain not only a predominance of beneficial bacteria (versus bad bacteria) but also a high diversity of the types of bacteria in your gut microbiome.
Eating the wrong types of foods can promote the growth of bad bacteria. These include refined sugar, processed foods made of chemicals and artificial sweeteners, trans fats and bad oils, as well as animal foods that are sources of antibiotics and pesticides.
In contrast, by regularly eating more fermented foods (which contain live bacteria) such as sauerkraut, kimchi, tempeh, miso, and cultured yogurt, you can introduce different strains of healthful bacteria called probiotics into your gut.
Plant foods contain various types of fiber. Fiber is not digestible by the body, hence, it promotes regularity. One type of fiber called prebiotics is fermented by the good bacteria to use as food. Examples of some prebiotic foods include garlic, onions, leeks, asparagus, unripe bananas, apples (with skin), jicama, wheat bran, oats, barley, flaxseeds, burdock root, cocoa, Jerusalem artichoke, and dandelion greens.
By eating a wide variety of probiotic (fermented) and prebiotic foods regularly, not only will they help increase the beneficial bacteria count, but also the diversity of the types of bacteria in the gut. Your immune health is greatly affected by your gut microbiome.
2. Plant foods lower inflammation
Inflammation is your body's normal response to injury and infection. It is when damaged tissues release chemicals that tell white blood cells to start the repair job. However, when inflammation is chronic, low-grade, and widespread, it starts to do damage to the body. For instance, it can play a role in the buildup of plaque in arteries that increases your chance of heart disease and stroke. Chronic inflammation is associated with a higher risk of cancer, obesity, and diabetes, and possibly a worse outcome in case of a Covid-19 infection.
Fortunately, plant foods are full of anti-inflammatory nutrients that can help promote your health, such as:
Omega-3 fatty acids
- Flaxseeds, chia seeds, hemp seeds, walnuts, and Brussel sprouts.
Hormone-like nutrients
- Vitamin D (mushrooms)
- Vitamin K (leafy greens, fermented foods)
Quercetin
- Apples, onions, kale, cherry tomatoes, and broccoli.
EGCG (Epigallocatechin gallate)
- Green tea
Resveratrol
- Red wine, red grape juice, blueberries, cranberries, strawberries, peanuts, pistachios, cocoa, and dark chocolate.
3. Plant foods are a powerhouse of antioxidants
Antioxidants have the ability to prevent oxidative stress, destroy free radicals, and protect the structural integrity of cells, including immune cells. There is strong evidence that adequate antioxidant intake is key to a strong immune system, regardless of age. It is also important to take in antioxidants from different foods as each antioxidant serves a specific function and is not necessarily interchangeable with another.
Vitamin C
- Berries, citrus fruits, cherries, kiwi, papaya, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, bell peppers, tomatoes.
Vitamin E
- Avocado, leafy greens, nuts and seeds, and wheatgerm.
Selenium
- Brazil nuts, brown rice, banana, mushroom, oatmeal, and spinach.
Zinc
- Nuts, whole grains, and beans.
Polyphenols
- Apples, berries, greens, and tea.
Carotenoids
- Sweet potato, yam, carrots, tomatoes, red and yellow peppers.
Last but not least, spices are full of antioxidants too.
- Black pepper, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, oregano, and turmeric.
Benefits Of Different Colors Of Plant Foods
YELLOW for Digestive Health
Rich in lutein and zeaxanthin (e.g. ginger, lemons, pineapple, bananas, and plantains)
- Antioxidant
- Enzymatic activity
- Gastric motility and regulation
- Reduce glycemic impact
- Role in fostering a healthy gut microbiome
ORANGE for Reproductive Health
Rich in beta-carotene (e.g. carrots, oranges, orange sweet potatoes, and yams)
- Antioxidant for fat soluble tissues
- Hormonal modulation
- Role in ovulation and fertility processes
RED for Lowering Inflammation
Rich in lycopene (e.g. beets, red bell pepper, tomatoes, strawberries)
- Anti-inflammatory
- General antioxidant activity
- Immune modulation
GREEN for Cardiovascular Health
Rich in folates (e.g. leafy greens)
- Blood vessel support
- Role in healthy circulation and methylation (biochemical process in the body)
BLUE-PURPLE for Brain Health
Rich in flavonoids(e.g. purple grapes, blueberries)
- Antioxidant
- Cognitive support
- Healthy mood balance
- Role in health of nerve cells in the nervous system
Most COLOR-DENSE Plant Foods
These plant foods contain all the phytonutrients from the 5 colors:
- Carrots, grapefruit, mango, papaya, red cabbage, rutabaga, tomatoes, watermelon.
Practical Ways To Eat More Colorful Plant Foods
Think of eating by color helps to increase the intake of different plant foods. Make sure you cover all the colors at least several times per week.
Vary the cooking methods, such as eating raw as in salads, steaming, sautéing, or roasting.
Use spices, herbs, and seasonings.
For those having difficulty in making time to prepare vegetables, incorporating vegetable juices and powders can be helpful.
Eat more meals at home versus in a restaurant. People tend to eat more vegetables with home-cooked meals.
Not All Plant Foods Are Good For Everyone
If you have an allergy or food intolerance to certain plant foods, you should avoid them.
Some people have the genetic mutation that results in the inability to digest lectins (a type of protein in plants). Lectins are usually found in plant seeds. Some of the most lectin-rich foods include beans, lentils, peanuts, tomatoes, potatoes, peas, soy, barley, eggplant, fruits, wheat, and rice. One way to avoid the lectins, say in tomatoes, is to peel off the skin and throw away the seeds. There are also methods to reduce lectins in beans, such as pressure cooking, soaking, fermenting, or sprouting. White rice has less lectins than brown rice.
PATTY CORDOBA | Individuals who have arthritis may find that nightshade vegetables worsen their condition. They include eggplant, Goji berries, peppers (bell, cayenne, chili, and paprika), pimentos, potatoes, tomatoes, and tomatillos.
Do not opt for processed or junk plant foods. Potato chips are usually fried in vegetable (seed) oils. Donuts, cookies, and sweets are often made with refined flour, vegetable oils, and sugar.

Tea is excellent for burning fat and provides the body energy and cardiac benefits as well.
